“A-hunting We Will Go”

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, do you remember learning the old English children’s rhyme “A Hunting We Will Go?” It was a fun song to sing along to. Maybe you taught your children this song.

I had forgotten the song until I saw an early January press release by the Committee on Education and Labor Republicans.

(*Note: The U.S. House Committee was formerly known as U.S. House Committee on Education and Workforce, but has been renamed U.S. House Education and Labor Committee. We’ll look at more in-depth at this change and what else it means in a bit.)

What in the world would the Ed/Labor Committee do to remind me of children’s songs?
Look below:

Since the 116th Congressional Session has begun. Rep. Foxx is no longer chair women. She is the Senior most Republican, though.

That’s right, Warriors, Preschool Development Birth through 5 grants.
What will these grants do? Foxx’s statement shared this, ”
“These preschool development grants are an important step in empowering communities to serve children and families more effectively and efficiently. “
*********************************************
Warriors, if you’ve followed me long, you know I’ve covered Foxx’s selling out our nation to the CCSS Machine and the globally aligned workforce education. She has worked hard to help establish this. The new Democratic leader, Rep. Bobby Scott, will be no different.
********************************************

From the information I can locate on the Dept. of Health and Human Services website about the Grants, 45 were awarded.
One went to the U.S. Virgin Islands (via Health and Human Services) and one went to the District of Columbia (via the Education Office).
The rest were given to 43 States. Four grants (WA, NY, NM, and NJ) will find their Preschool Grants in their respective Depts of Children and Family Services.
The next group (7) can find their Preschool Grants in their Health and Human Services Depts. These are RI, NC, NE, MT, HI, CO, and AR.
Following these groups, the next will be 15 State Depts. of Education. (VA, TX, OR, ND, NV, MN, MI, MD, ME, LA, KS, FL, DE, CA, and AZ.
The largest group (17 States) will find Preschool Grants in various Depts or Offices.
UT’s is in Workforce Services
VT’s is in the State; PA and KY’s were awarded to their Commonwealths
SC’s is in Social Services; IN’s Family and Social Services received the Grant
OK’s grant went to the Partnership for School Readiness Foundation, Inc.
OH’s Preschool funds will be in the Job and Family Services Dept.
NH is the only State where the Preschool Grant was awarded to the University (of NH)
MS’s grant went to the Community College Board
MA’s went to the Executive Office of Education
IA’s will be in the Dept. of Management
IL’s went to the Governor’s Office
GA’s Dept of Early Care and Learning; CT’s Office of Early Childhood; AK’s Dept of Education and Early Development; and AL’s Dept of Early Childhood Education will be where their Grants are

These Grants began 12/31/18 and will end 12/30/19. Each Grant Award can be re-applied for by the end of 2019.

Warriors, let’s take into consideration that many of the community wide services akin to birth through age 5 are part of government programs/initiatives and as such, have funds attached to them.

Sadly, with those funds, come data strings which are attached to each child and family partaking of the services. While this doesn’t SOUND bad, it is very bad.

Life-long data tracking is a part of globalism where you are constantly monitored.
Since many of these services attach to your child’s health, this should be VERY concerning.
Also, because much of this is being accomplished through education, bear in mind that due to the nature of schools, your child’s privacy is at its WEAKEST in school.

While the government run schools (as well as those which receive government) funds are to uphold the U.S. Constitution, the privacy issue is a mixed bag. The Fourth Amendment ALLUDES to privacy rights, but doesn’t state your private personal data is protected.

However, take into consideration that FEPA’s (Foundations for Evidence-based Policymaking Act) passage by the President, actually erodes our 4th Amendment. How? “Unintended consequences” in data mining (aka: data rape). Think what this means for your children.

**Then, factor in that some States, like OR, are now ‘willing’ to universally conduct in-home visits to check early childhood education/care. Warriors, go back up and look where OR’s PreK Development Grant is, their State Dept. of Education.

**Just released from NC, a subjective early childhood care/education study was released. The Raleigh News and Observer ran an opinion article about the study. The N & O (as it’s known) is a liberal, left-leaning media source. The professor who wrote this opinion has some very misleading things to say. Read it for yourselves. Why? There are items of truth omitted which the average reader will never know. Below, I’ve provided a basic list of what was left out.

1) The professor conveniently left out that the children MUST take an intrusive data mining assessment just to enter Kindergarten!

2) He left out how Smart Start uses it’s Early Learning Head Start grants for Kindergartner readiness, in home visits and more parent nanny state activities.

Warriors, it is Early Smart Start and its related programs which usher in those in-home visits. What does this have to the with ESSA and/or FEPA? ESSA’s recalculations of Title One funding and the massive increase in power given to the U. S. Dept. of Health and Human Services; FEPA’s need for ‘evidence’ (aka data) to pigeon hole every family into government entitlement programs.

**We also need to remember that ESSA has at least 2 sections of mandates and requirements for Family Engagement. How better to ‘engage’ a family than to basically take control of the babies?!

Ties to More Than We Realize:

Warriors, the professor chosen to write the article is a Pritzker Professor of Public Policy at Duke University. Duke is hardly lily white and purely driven when it comes to our children’s education. However, that’s not our concern at the moment. What is is WHAT is a Pritzker Professor of Public Policy? A professor with tenure and a leading scholar on Early Childhood Ed).
If you wish to see how these scholars are chosen, here are the requirements.
Pritzker Foundation is based out of Chicago, IL and has national influence on early education, health care, and other such. They are more concerned with Return on Investment than actual quality of life, but their spin says they care and have for over 20 years.
J.B. Pritzker is IL’s new Governor. J.B. is one of the family members named in the Foundation.
Here are Gov. Pritzker’s agenda items for education/child care. While this appears to be for IL only, look at the national influence topics again.
Link:
Why would Pritzker choose Duke to bestow funds to? It’s J.B.’s alma mater.
(Supposedly J.B. is the second most wealthy politician as well as the richest governor is the nation. He’s got ties to Hilliary Clinton, and ChicagoNEXT group, a global tech hub. With the (United Nations) UN’s push for Smart Cities, Chicago is already knee-deep in the alignment. Global tech=global data..data harvested from early learners is included.)ChicagoNEXT is a P3 (public private partnership) and works in tandem with Rahm Emanuel.

Pritzker joined Bill Gates and several other CCSS Machine foundations to create the First Five Years Fund.
I wrote about the First 5 Years Fund in two articles, 2016:
a) While this one has some NC information, I have it geared more for national use. The First Five information is directly below the comparison of (then 3 bills).

b) This one gave Warriors an excellent way to track the early learning alignment in their area by using the town I live in. You’ll see First Five Year and ESSA are directly linked.

Pritzker also partnered with Goldman Sachs (a huge UN supporter/partner and CCSS Machine member group) to create an early learning social impact bond (SIB).
If you wish to see the Pritzker Foundation’s Childhood website, go here.
******Warriors, then scroll up and see where IL’s Preschool Development Grant landed..the Governor’s Office!!!

SIBs are tools being used by globalists to align communities for not only agenda, but data rape. This Pritzer/Sachs SIB was in Utah, 2013.

Fast forward to 2019, and in-home visits in UT are already in full swing. There’s even an entire Dept. for them. I’m linking you to their “Resources” page so you can see the customized cell phone based educational items being sent to babies. From this page, you can easily access the home page.

Warriors, you also may find it helpful to see the ‘fact sheet’ on in-home visits and ‘family engagement’ from ESSA. The CCSS Machine group, civilrights.org created this back in 2016. (*Note: every State must show evidence of family engagement, including in-home visits. Depending on the situation, funds may be Title One, HHS, or funds from ESSA’s mandate for school turnarounds.)

The danger is these visits are ‘universal’ in nature, so no child is will be left out.

To access the Zero to Three articles I’ve published, go here. Where you’ll find the most ‘damage’ to families, is the overreach into family health care at school. Below is a screen shot related to Zero to Three.

Closing:

Warriors
, if ever there was evidence Lamar Alexander’s words about grabbing our babies has come  upon us, it IS now. As I pointed out in the “Consequences” article, ANY law which violates our U.S. Constitution does not and should not be followed. ESSA, and now, FEPA are two such ‘laws’.

Keeping It Local

Warriors Against the Core, we all know how great it can be to have things available to us without having to go too far from home. BUT, what happens when all the ‘local’ education becomes anything but local?!

We enjoy not having to travel  so far to recieve an education. We need to keep in mind it’s set up for us by those who live far away. We WILL have to adhere to its constraints..like it or not.

It should go without saying that the constraints will include Common Core, in one of its many forms.

The CC Forms Are ‘A-plenty’, But Hardly Original Or Local:

As we know, CC is only one form of the modern education reform’s educratic buzz word ‘game’. There’s the more adult form of CC: CTE (Career Tech Education); then, there’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); there’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math); NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards); NGSS (Next Gen Social Studies); C3 (College, Career, Civics Life); CPs (Career Pathways); AAI (American Apprencticeship Iniatiative); CCR (College/Career Readiness), and, probably others we’ve yet to hear about.

The goal, regardless of the name, is the same: Workforce based education for 21st competency based learners.

As we know, none..not ONE of the above alphabet soup names is locally written, created, inspired, or otherwise fashioned together after. Every bit of the programs above is in the CCSS Machine from a top-down force. I do not mean a D.C. to your backyard force, I mean a globally driven force.

So, it should be NO surprise that when we wake up in our homes across America to face another day, we find the CCSS Machine has made one more stride toward us. Today, it may target your little ones; tomorrow, it might be the adults who are targeted; the following day could see our learners who are gifted tapped for the Machine. We may find that our special needs students will also be ‘blessed’ with educratic reform.

The point of the CCSS Machine is that NO age group will escape the top-down education reform.

The Proof Is Right Before Us:

Maybe you’ve seen, Warriors, the ads on social media for education grants awarded to those citizens in America over 50. That’s right, those over the “Golden Age” can get ‘free money’ to go back to school. But, what real LOCAL influence will these people receive if and when they go back to the classroom?

freeseniors

In the picture above, the article shared that across America, certain community colleges waived tutition for students over 60.

That’s great, right? I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff?! But, as I’ve shared with you time and time again, our community colleges are being used as workforce education mills for the CCSS Machine.

If I’m one of these lovely elderly citizens, I may not know that by going to college for ‘free’ is laced with workforce agenda. If you know someone like this, share my  August 2016 article detailing the CCSS Machine’s power grab for citizens ages 50 and over.

Wait, though…what if I’m a student under age 50?! What waits for me at my local community college or for-profit school?

The CCSS Machine Grinds On:

Warriors, you know we’ve seen and heard plenty to prove CCSS is after the zero to post-secondary set. Somehow, that’s EASY to talk about. But, no matter how much evidence surfaces for those above a college graduate level (say, around 30 years and older), the conversations become hushed, or worse, non-existent.

It’s also quite okay to say CCSS is infiltrating public education. Try using that mindset backed by evidence for all the other school choices and you can be laughed at, scoffed at, or, my favorite; wearing your tin foil hat a bit too tight.

Since we know the CCSS Machine is linked to the UN’s Master Agenda, we should be ready admit that NO AGE limit is to be free and safe from the reform happening.

So, why was education chosen as the ‘silver bullet’ of the change agents?
Education is an on-going process. It is open to any age limit. Learning, without the CCSS Machine, is a natural progression.

Ah, The Aligned and Defined:

Community Colleges, as I’ve proven before are the ideal location for the CCSS Machine to grasp anyone who’s not been its grasp before. How? Think about it, home educated students often choose (or have chosen for them) their local community colleges for dual enrollment, or, as a stop gap between their K-12 education and any further education. Community colleges welcome those who are between careers, needing to take a course of two for their job, rehabilitate a person who’s been in prison, or, anyone going back to school after some absence.

Community Colleges are also beacons in their respective towns. Local taxpayer funds go into these schools..but so do federal dollars. Warriors, that, as we know, is the downfall of every single State in the United States. The local control, the local say completely gets muted when federal funds are involved. So, what’s the latest anti CCSS News as far as community colleges go? How will this news impact any age person who attends a community college?

The Digital “Do-Gooders”:

Warriors, if you’ve not clicked on any of the embedded links so far, you won’t know how ESSA, WIOA, and HEA (Every Student Succeeds Act/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Higher Education Act) are woven into every age group.

That stated, I am positive, you, as an  anti CCSS Warrior, do know about the ‘digital do-gooders’. You know them by their name or their sales pitches. These are the companies which act ‘educational’ with their computer, devices, software, and ‘personalized learning’.

These are the companies which have lobbyists championing the ‘ditch the traditional textbook and let’s get everyone on-line’ sales pitch. All the while, the legislators stare googly-eyed at the prospect of how going 100% digital will make them an ‘education rock star’ with the voters back home. If you believe the hype, there’s so much digital goodness to be had in education, it’s a wonder the entire nation isn’t running over with saints!

One such company, Vital Source has created a wonderful (and I do mean it sarcastically) guide of digital ‘do-goodness’ for EdSurge (a sold out CCSS Machine member organization).

vitalsurge
This short video will show you how all the digital goodness (in this case the data mining) will work together to help your school.

If you are an educator, this video will show you have to ‘leverage’ data for better ‘personalized learning’.

For those who are in the school leadership positions, Google’s using the digital opportunities to include school administrators in the data sharing of what goes on in the classroom. See this article.

Closing:

Warriors, make no mistake, the CCSS Machine has proven time and time again, that by every available means, it is out to assimilate everyone in its path. The question is, how willing are we to stop this?

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?!

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, if you remember watching “Mary Poppins” you know the title of my article should point to something simply wonderful or extra special. So why did I pick this when what I have to share is anything BUT wonderful and good?! It’s an attention grabbing word. It also got my mind to thinking…..

“Step in time; step in line”
(this is a line from another “Mary Poppins” song which translates extremely well to the timing of a Congressional Committee, the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)), the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, and how they will align as many young children as possible!

We all know Head Start and Early Head Start are government programs with top-down, federal-to-state-to-you control. Both have been embedded in the modern education reform, thanks to the CCSS Machine’s planning, funding, and implementing. ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) will most definitely ensure the continued alignment between the U.S. Dept. of Education and the U.S. Dept.of Health and Human Services, where Head Start and its Early version are housed.

Since I began publishing research in 2014, I’ve written at least 4 articles about Head Start and/or Early Head Start. If you’ve missed them, here they are:
1) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/aligned-workforces/ (connects Head Start to massive data mining)
2) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/08/tech-thursday-technically-speaking-for-ccss/ (will show you the top-down alignment for ages birth and up for an ‘educated’ workforce)
3) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/02/11/fed-ed-2017-are-you-ready/
(shows you how Head Start/Early Head Start are in the 2017 Fed Ed Budget Requests from the President)
4) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/11/the-education-road/ ( a real life example of how the federal-to-state-to-you the CCSS Machine alignment is going and how Head Start/Early Head Start is being folded in)

An Awful ‘Spoonful of Medicine’:

From the U.S. Senate’s Education and Workforce Democratic Committee:
http://democrats-edworkforce.house.gov/media/press-releases/-scott-statement-on-final-rule-for-head-start-performance-standards-

eddems
According to the embedded document attached to the Press Release (above),
45 CFR Chapter XIII RIN 0970-AC63 Head Start Performance Standards“, the Head Start Program Standards were last updated in 1998. Then, the  Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007, we found Congress instructing the Office of Head Start to update itself.

Basically, it was a ‘step in time, step in line’ move. Since 2007, tons of ‘research’ has been conducted; public feedback has been gathered; and, now is the time to ‘re-up’ the Head Start again. This 2016 final version of updates? Only 621 pages long!

Gee, just in time to step in line with ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) and its overreach into early childhood ‘education’.

On Page 15 of the latest and final version for updating Head Start/Early Head Start, you’ll find the “Compliance Table”. This table gives federal statutes, start dates, and descriptions of what each Head Start/Early Head Start Program AND location MUST do to ‘step in time, step in line’.

Included in the mandates of compliance:
Alignment of education in school and at home
Data mining
Streamlining the data collected
Credentials required to conduct ‘in home’ visits
Hours each program and location must be available
Curriculum to be used
Assessments

Here’s what the curriculum portion will embed:

So, what does the ‘partnership’ boil down to? An absolutely bitter pill to swallow!

For the Data mining connected to Early Head Start/Head Start?  Learn the CCSS Machine’s alphabet code “Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS)” and Data systems. (Page 14 of the 621 page document). It too, must be in place by Aug. 2017.

What is the QRIS? Their website: http://qrisnetwork.org/
From their website, you can learn that QRIS is a part of Build’s Initiative. Before we get to the Build’s Initiative, let me show you the once again, tangled web of the same CCSS Machine member organizations connected to the QRIS.

QRIS’s website also tells you there are public private partnerships involved in the quality control/data mining. Thus, the tangled web begins…

a) from the QRIS Newsletter’s August 2016 post, (http://qrisnetwork.org/sites/all/files/lt/private/NEWSLETTER%20QRISAugIssue2.pdf)

b) This redirects you to the QRIS page featuring MORE reports (where you can get State by State progress reports). http://qrisnetwork.org/resource/2016/race-top-early-learning-challenge-2015-progress-reports

c) This takes you to the U.S. Dept. of Education’s website,

d) Still not finding the public private partnerships in QRIS, I desperately was hoping the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s ‘collaboration partners’ may reveal something. Boy, did it. A huge bitter pill of CCSS Machine ‘medicine’ to swallow.

earlyedtasThe groups with red stars are ones I’ve researched and have proof of their P3 (public private partnership) grasp on American education. The CCSSO, the NGA, are well known to you, the anti CCSS/ESSA Warrior, thanks to many who’ve researched their ties.
If you’ve missed my findings on CLASP, Zero to Three, etc. just use the search bar on my blog. If you can’t find them that way, contact me. It’s proof you need to fight for your children.

More ‘Spoons’ of Fed Ed “Medicine”:

1) Unlike the other documents I’ve researched which are from the federal government, this one (that 621 page document with a long title) actually has a redesignation table for you to see what old Standards are being shifted to. As the writer of this document put it, it’s a roadmap for ease of access. It begins on Page 16.

2) After the “roadmap”, you are ‘treated’ to all the ‘research’, ‘reasons’, and ‘purposes’ behind the latest Early Head Start/Head Start shift. In all honesty, the parts about how all this aligns to ESSA didn’t surface, that I could easily see. However, having read ESSA and listening to both Senator Alexander AND Senator Murray, it is easy to find the early education overhaul.

3) To access the 621 page document: 2016-19748

Finding Early Ed Alignment in ESSA:

When I read the 1,059 ESSA Final Conference Report, I found the following. These are selected excerpts from my previously published articles.

ESSA and the digital overreaches for the little ones:
*) “Page 630: Preschool and ‘Ready to Learn’ digital content, especially via PBS (Public Broadcast Stations).
Page 943 begins Section 9210 of the ESSA Law. This is the biggest overreach of all!
Why? “Student Home Access to Digital Learning Resources”! To find out how successful students are at HOME, a Study conducted by the Director of the Institute of Educational Sciences (IES) no later than 18 months AFTER all portions of ESSA are in place! Details of the Study will be found on Page 944.”

You’ll want the article these are in because it links you to the other areas of concern for your little ones. Near the bottom of the article, you’ll find out how I learned that Sesame Street is now CCSS Machine controlled, thus aligned.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/02/04/essa-and-digital-overload/

ESSA’s use of immigration to overreach into early education:
*) “Page 2 reveals Sections 3001-3004 (these sections begin on page 408 and follow from there) will break down what alignments, accountability, etc. will be taking place in education and services related. I found on page 409, under the Section 3001 and “Appropriations”, the following figures of the tax dollars up for grabs by the states and awarded by the federal government for this express purpose, “(1) $756,332,450 for fiscal year 2017;  (2) $769,568,267 for fiscal year 2018;(3) $784,959,633 for fiscal year 2019; and (4) $884,959,633 for fiscal year 2020.” Page 410 will show you how the ELLs (English Language Learners) will have to meet those ‘challenging state academic standards’, too.’
Skip down to section 3115 (page 421) , however and you will find that all schools will have to jump through a hoop or two to reform education so that no child will be excluded. How? Through ‘sub grants’ to eligible entities as long as they are educating students in ELA to the tune of ‘challenging state academic standards’!”

You’ll want the rest of the article this comes from so you can learn the 4 purposes of ESSA’s ties to WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). Why? One of the 4 is EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/05/essa-ties-to-wioa-2014-and-new-citizens/

ESSA in your neighborhood:
*) “Over on page 612 you can learn about types of schools and what they must provide to the neighborhood will include. Follow this through to page 615. There you will see the following language. “(2) INDICATORS.—The performance indicators  established by the Secretary under paragraph (1) shall be indicators of improved academic and developmental outcomes for children, including indicators of school readiness, high school graduation, post-secondary education and career readiness, and other
academic and developmental outcomes…” The next section is 2465 and this is where the full service community school is laid out in detail.”

ESSA’s authors used the law to codify “Promise Neighborhoods”. You’ll want to read the article this portion comes from so you can learn how your entire family will assessed, graded, and ‘encouraged’ to align with educational resources from the U.S. Depts. of Ed/Health, Human Services.

If you are interested in viewing a 2014 Head Start/Early Head Start webinar, you’ll find the video below. While the information is dated, you will find out from those involved in the P3s for early education how valuable they think your kids are (look about the 19:58 minute mark). The entire video is just over 1 hour. Be sure you listen for the ‘wedding’ remark near the end of the video.
To all those involved in the grab for our children, I say their hearts are as black as the soot on Bert’s face as he danced with the chimney sweeps in ‘Mary Poppins’.

The School Board Special, Part One

Against-Common-Core-and-Vote

This Weekend News begins a special series for all those ‘anti CCSS Machine Warriors’ out there running for their school boards this election year. No matter if it is a local school board race or a state-wide race, this compendium is for you!!

If you should have an issue you would like more information on and you do NOT see it below, please do not HESITATE to let me know how I may help your campaign. Why would I do this? I want to support each of you as best as I can with information you can use to stand for a school system FREE from the CCSS Machine and ALL its overreaches into birth to pre-K, pre-K to K, K-12, community colleges, public and private colleges and universities, for profit post-secondary schools (proprietary), and any OTHER place Common Core (or as it’s new buzz phrase is known as “College and Career Readiness”) is found!

As the first in this series of articles, I would like to  devote them to these brave men and women who are seeking office for the RIGHT reasons! 1) To be a child’s hero; 2) to stand for the Constitutionally protected state sovereignty where education is concerned; and 3) to wipe out the CCSS Machine’s grasp on their local community and/or State!

Birth to Pre-K, Pre-K to K:

As we have seen and heard, NO age group, nor educational choice will be free from the illegally based (and now, rubber stamped via the ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act) educational reform begun by the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative). My fellow anti CCSS Warrior from CA (Lydia Gutierrez) has a great Facebook post from 2014 which details Sen. Lamar Alexander’s plan to grab our students from birth and track them to career.
Why would I mention Sen. Alexander? He is one of the main sponsors of the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). His plan from way back when, just got a HUGE advancement via the ESSA! To see Lydia’s post: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10152814417575498&id=226850210497 (*Note it has the embedded You Tube video from the 1980s where Alexander speaks his ‘Orwellian plan’ for our students.)

To see the birth to Pre-K plans via the ESSA from the Final Conference Report (that mammoth 1,061 page booger):
Section 2223 which begins on Page 373 and details “Subgrants to eligible entities in support of birth through kindergarten entry literacy.”.
Leading up to Section 2223, the following pages are also of great importance:
1) Page 365 where you can see how LEAs (Local Educational Agents) will encompass birth through 12th grade literacy, early childhood education programs including home based literacy programs, and more.
2) Page 370 where you will find percentages of funding the states are to have for any program or activity to ready birth through Kindergarten for school.
3) The bottom of Page 370 and into 371 where you will see birth to 5 years programs for low income families targeted.
4) Page 372 states the following for those teaching our youngest students: “Coordinating with institutions of  higher education in the State to provide recommendations to strengthen and enhance pre-service courses for students preparing to teach children from birth through grade 12 in explicit, systematic, and intensive instruction in  evidence-based literacy methods.”
5) Page 374 will show you how ‘data analysis’ will be used in regards to birth through kindergarten entry.
6) Page 375 details the assessments of the birth to kindergarten for the sake of successful entry into school.
7) That damnable educratic, pro Common Core term ‘pipeline’ (in reference to our students) is used on Page 600. “PIPELINE SERVICES.—The term ‘pipeline services’ means a continuum of coordinated supports, services, and opportunities for children from birth through entry into and success in postsecondary education, and career attainment. Such services shall include, at a minimum, strategies to address through services or programs (including integrated student supports) the following:  ‘‘(A) High-quality early childhood education programs.” (*Note: There is more, but you need to read it for yourselves.)
8) Page 615 will focus on the children (from birth) in the lowest income cities with a continuum of ‘high quality’ services. While this may not be a terrible thing, consider that further down the page, the data collection and reporting of said data goes to the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary!
9) The homeless children’s lack of records will also be included in all this new education reform. See Pages 881, 889,  and 900.
10) Page 959, The States are to keep parents up to date on all the ‘mixed delivery systems’ of programs for birth to kindergarten entry level.

If you do not have access to the Final Report: ESSA FINAL CONFRPT_112915

In the much shorter U.S. Law version of the ESSA (391) pages, you will find Section 2223 is still the same. Page numbers, however, will be different. To find where the students from ‘birth’ and up are mentioned, see: 136, 138 (twice), 139 (5 times), 140, 223, 238, 326, 329, 333, 354, and 357. As Far As My Research, I Would Like to Offer You:

Zero to Three Common Core which has received the American Academy of Pediatrics backing as well as a major insurance company (MetLife)! See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/07/04/sic-em-saturday-pint-sized-common-core/
What you, as a candidate, need to know about this article: Look to your area’s Early Head Start Program; that each of the 50 States has a ‘Baby Fact Sheet’; that some States (especially those deemed as successes with their Race to the Top funding) have a ‘Preschool Development Grant’ from the U.S. Dept. of Education; that the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER), is backed, supported, and funded by some of the biggest names in the CCSS Machine!

Then here is my article pertaining to the massive amounts of research being conducted on our youngest students in the name of education. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/10/ftf-prek-research-ccss-cbe/
What you, as a candidate, need to look for from this article: Your state’s funding and use of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and how CCSS has got its grasp on this money; how competency based education (is largely workforce based learning in nature) is being designed for our little people in the classrooms and related programs; how our youngsters are bringing shaped into BRICKS (I kid you not), and more!

How will the birth to pre-K and kindergartners figure into the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014) which is also expressly tied via the language of the ESSA (as law)?! See my article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/05/essa-ties-to-wioa-2014-and-new-citizens/
What you, as a candidate, need to know from this article: Those ‘sub grants’ for ELA (English Language Arts) are to be used so that EVERY student, including these younger ones, will be in line for the cradle to career education;  how the language shift FROM “Common Core State Standards” TO ‘Challenging State Academic Standards’ is not only more of the same education reform, but will have massive amounts of money attached!

Encompassed into the Promise Neighborhoods and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers and/or Community Schools will be not only the youngest learners, but the ENTIRE family! See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/supportive-acts-to-back-initiative/
What you, as a candidate, need to know: That while the Promise Neighborhoods is NOT a new piece of legislation, HOW it is included in the ESSA is new! Those 21st Century Community Learning Centers (which can also sometimes be referred to by a number of catchy names) are part of a White House Initiative, as well as a P3 (public-private partnership) effort to have entire communities aligned to the Common Core State Standards Initiative.  To see that information and to learn more: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/24/fom-friday-knowledgeworks-or-knowledge-quirks/ (*Note: This article lays out for you the cradle to career aligned community network already in place across America.)

CLOSING:

No matter where you are in America, the ESSA, the CCSS Machine, the Initiative and agenda behind Common Core, is going to continue to wreck our nation! This is just a look at a FEW of the researched pieces of evidence I have concerning birth through Kindergarten. Take the time to read each article, investigate for yourselves the reports, links, and programs featured. Ask LOTS of questions, be ferocious in your campaigns! Our children, our schools, and our nation are MUCH too precious to not protect. Part 2 of this series will address K-12 education.

As anti CCSS Warriors, we’ve heard of educational research on the K-12 level, the higher education level, but did you know there’s an educational research group for those in pre-kindergarten? I first wrote about the National Institute for Early Education Research and their Zero to Three involvement:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/tag/national-institute-for-early-education-research/
While that article will name the same groups below, this time I’m taking a much closer look at each of the lesser known groups involvement into CCSS aligned preschool. What is interesting, is the NIEER is housed in Rutgers University.

NIEER’s Mission:

From the website’s ‘mission statement’, The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) conducts and communicates research to support high-quality, effective early childhood education for all young children. Such education enhances their physical, cognitive, and social development, and subsequent success in school and later life.”

As part of the Vision/MIssion of NIEER
NIEER also leads the Center on Enhancing Early Learning Outcomes (CEELO), one of 22 comprehensive centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education to strengthen the capacity of State Education Agencies to lead sustained improvements in early learning opportunities and outcomes.”

Before we get to HOW the NIEER influences early education, I think you might be interested in what groups fund the National Institute for Early Education Research.

From the website the following pro CCSS groups fund the research. Most of these are well known supporters. The ones you may not recognize have links you can follow to learn more:
U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI)
The Pew Charitable Trusts
Carnegie Corporation of New York
Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation (CCSS/STEM ties can be proven by the Foundation’s paper: http://www.grdodge.org/fileadmin/Dodge_News/Dodge_Foundation_June_2013_Grants_Announcement.pdf {refer to the education paragraph}
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation
The Prudential Foundation {see my article from “Prevent Common Core”:
http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1154 {Prudential’s CCSS ties will be revealed second in the article}

Other funders are below. Are the ‘other funders’ pro CCSS? Great question. Let’s find out!

The Fund for New Jersey, see their 4/2015 pdf document’s section 3 which details NJ education: NJKids (one of the key components? Extended preK to full day classes)
You can also find the Fund for NJ has granted the Education Law Center money to further strengthen public schools and extend preschools to full days. Find that evidence:
http://www.fundfornj.org/grants-awarded/2015 (The Ed Law Center grant is the 2nd one from the top. There are many other education grants as well which are classified by the organization’s name. To see their CCSS support, use the link: http://www.edlawcenter.org/search-results.html; you can see much about not only preschool expansion, but other education levels as well.) Before we leave the Fund for NJ and its grantee, the Ed Law Center, you might find it interesting that one of the Ed Law Center’s initiatives is for the “Great Schools of NJ”. If you didn’t know it, “Great Schools” is very much CCSS aligned/funded. How do I know? After all the “Great Schools of NJ” is a non-profit organization. The Gates Foundation has funded ‘greatschools.org’ for quite a while. You can find that evidence on both the links below:
http://www.greatschools.org/  and http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=Great%20Schools

The Schumann Fund for New Jersey, before we delve into their ties, I wanted you to see the screen shot below. The latest grant is to an early education program named “Brick”.
“Brick” stands for “Building Responsible Intelligent Creative Kids”.

Grants for Early Education can be found: http://foundationcenter.org/grantmaker/schumann/early_childhood.html

Want to learn more about “Brick”? After all it’s targeting early learners. Be sure to visit:
http://bricknewark.org/curriculum-and-instruction/ (look at the formative assessments, the digital technology that’s been tied to CCSS before)
There are other grants this Foundation you’ll want to investigate. As well. Especially their support of the ‘Grantmakers for Education’ which is tied to  the Fordham Institute, as well as others. To see for yourselves, visit:  http://www.edfunders.org/ (scroll down to see the logo for Fordham) As far as the Grantmakers members list? It’s massive AND very CCSS Machine connected. See all the member organizations:  http://www.edfunders.org/our-community/member-organizations

Smith Richardson Foundation, you can find out more about this Foundation at their website, https://www.srf.org/
That stated, here’s an excerpt about education from their ‘domestic public policy’ page,
In terms of human capital development, the Foundation has been supporting work to identify how schools can become more productive by, for example, increasing the quality of the teacher workforce or adopting more effective curricula.  Because success in the contemporary economy requires individuals to acquire education and training beyond high school, the Foundation is building a portfolio of projects on post-secondary education.”
Among the past grant recipients are the pro CCSS groups: Brookings Institute and  Harvard University (well documented ties to CCSS)
You can also find the the CCSS tied Urban Institute among the Smith Richardson Foundation’s grants.(see their 2010 publication, where they go into detail about early education success for immigrants via CCSS on page 7: 412330-Young-Children-of-Immigrants-and-the-Path-to-Educational-Success) Then, contrast that with their other 2010 publication, http://www.urban.org/sites/default/files/alfresco/publication-pdfs/901345-Will-We-Ever-Learn-What-s-Wrong-With-the-Common-Standards-Project.pdf
Urban’s Board of Directors and you’ll find members from PBS, Bank of American, the University of NC, Harvard University, and MIT.
Each of these groups have support for the CCSS alignment. See the Board:
http://www.urban.org/about/board-of-directors

The Smith Richardson Foundation has other groups with grants you need to read to believe. You will see a wide variety of educational levels from preschool to GED and everything else in between. Visit their entire ‘education’ grants,

What you see above is from the Coalition for Community Schools. I’ve covered this Coalition in previously published articles. However, I’m including the most relevant one.

Back to NIEER:

I found buried in their publications and research this document which was presented in the ‘resources’ section of their newsletter detailing the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). This document was published by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). The topic? “Making PreK to 3rd Grade Assessments Matter”. You won’t believe what you read. It is full of CBE (competency based education). CBE is a huge portion of not only CCSS, but CTE (Career Tech Education).
To access the document: leading-pre-k-3-learning-communities-executive-summary
You really should look at the entire July 2015 newsletter. Why? You’ll find a global investment summit where the topic was early childhood education; you’ll find a federal budget for early childhood learning; you can find studies, and links galore.
To access the NIEER newsletter: http://nieer.org/publications/online-newsletters/volume-14-issue-14

As far as the NIEER state by state yearbook (the original screen shot of this article), you’ll want to investigate that, too. CCSS is listed in the glossary of abbreviations. You’ll also see Title One funding and TANF funding (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). I was able to tie abuse of TANF funds by CCSS in the states in my previous article, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/29/ftf-more-tracking-the-workforce-aligned-society/

Tech Thursday: Technically Speaking for CCSS

Last night, I had the honor of speaking out against Common Core and the ‘CCSS Machine’ as I call it. In today’s “Tech Thursday”, I will share the details so you discover for yourselves, just how broadly the all-encompassing education reform (illegally based) has progressed.

Technically Speaking, A Bit if Background:

When I was invited to join last night’s phone call, I asked my hostess what the topic was to be so I could prepare. The topic, she said, would be to tie in how the most recent shooting in OR,  not only Common Core, but the overall mental damage our educational system has wrought upon our schools. My part of the conversation was to see where Common Core, communities, mental health, and gun control intersected.

My first connection between all of the above came with my “Project Aware” article (published in Dec. 2014) In that article, you can find how much gun control plays into Project Aware. It ties the SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Heath Services Administration) to the President’s gun control policies presented to America just after the Sandy Hook School shootings. The Report details how much data mining throughout your communities will be carried out by Local Education Agencies(LEAs)and SEAs (State Educational Agencies), it will reveal how teachers are to become mental health minions; how any other adult involved in education will also become aligned. Access to this article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/14/rmt-sunday-beware-of-project-aware/
To see just how aligned your school counselors (one of those ‘other; educational personnel included in the alignment, see my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/fridays-post-breaking-news-you-need-to-know/ (*NOTE: this article reveals another Presidential initiative being carried out in the name of educational alignment to the CCSS Machine.)

To access the Presidential Report from 2013, be sure to click on the embedded link ion the “Project Aware” article.

Bottom line technical detail: With this much effort (trust me, this is just a glimpse) put into aligning our educational leaders to the overall CCSS agenda, it’s no wonder education is in trouble. CCSS is breeding compliance.

Technically speaking, The Mental Health:

Okay, so we have the foundation, which is ‘compliance’. We all know that to be compliant, our thinking, our beliefs have to undergo big transformations. Our mental health plays into the CCSS Machine’s agenda beautifully. Think of all the research my fellow anti CCSS warriors have produced, especially Anita Hoge. This article should be of great help to you:
http://www.newswithviews.com/Hoge/anita117.htm
(*NOTE: In this article she shares how the upcoming re-authorizations of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) will advance the mental health power grab of our students.

That’s not the only source available to you as anti CCSS warriors. However. let’s move on to more technically speaking aspects of the mental health moves being made.

While getting my resources together for last night’s call, I was on Twitter about the time Bill Gates’ big educational speech was on. I was still sharing anti CCSS information with everyone, when I noticed some of the tweets and retweets surrounding this ‘big’ speech. Ones like below:
Mrs. Gates was sharing with all how social issues/social, emotional learning are just as vital to education & its reformation. The Ed & Workforce Democrats were stating early childhood is their focus at the moment because, as early as 9 months old, achievement gaps can be found! Head Start joined in the Gates speech with the words of we don’t enroll just the child, we enroll the family; citywide data collection and data sharing and using Detroit as a shining example. So, this got my attention. What else has Head Start done in the name of educational reform? Below is just one of the things I discovered:

Early Childhood Development Training and Technical Assistant Centers
Early Childhood Development Training and Technical Assistant Centers

What you see above is a program already in place for birth to 13 years of age! If you aren’t familiar with Head Start, it’s part of the U. S. Dept of Health and Human Services (one of the 3 main federal level departments involved in aligning education. Working with HHS are the U. S. Depts of Education and Labor) What this image shows us is another top down (federal to state to local) overreach. It shows us where our tax dollars are being used. It shows us how communities are being aligned right under our noses. If you look deep enough into these new centers, you can find pro CCSS funding groups like WestED; you can find international digital and data collectors like ICF International (where one of the main education consultants is a pro CCSS contributor*) You can also find the CCSS/CTE aligned Zero to Three program involved. How do I know the Zero to Three is pro CCSS/CTE? In my research. Here’s the original article I wrote:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/07/04/sic-em-saturday-pint-sized-common-core/  From this article, you can learn how Head Start, Bill Gates, Jeb Bush, and others are backing education reform to impact our youngest students. The American Association of Pediatrics is even helping out! You’ll also learn how the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) is involved for the purpose of total community alignment.

To see the community alignment where P21 is contributing to all this,
 http://www.expandinglearning.org/expandingminds/article/upgrading-afterschool-common-sense-shifts-expanded-learning-digital-age

Bottom line technical detail: When you look at the language of the Student Success Act (HR5), the Every Child Achieves Act (S1177), and the upcoming bills which will impact higher education, mental health is most definitely being used against us with the goal of re-ordering how we feel, think, and, what we believe.

Technically Speaking, CCSS and Gun Control:

You have a foundation of compliance, a layer of mental health re-ordering for all involved, so where do the guns factor in? Think about all we’ve heard and seen in the homework examples where our Constitution is re-written. Consider the other social issues which have crept into our classrooms with rapid speed. Gun control is definitely in the mix. Here is the evidence of CCSS aligned lessons concerning guns.

ccssgun

To see this resource for yourselves, http://ww2.kqed.org/lowdown/wp-content/uploads/sites/26/2013/05/guncontrol_guide_final2.pdf
One noteworthy thing, the first ‘guided question’ doesn’t refer to the U. S. Constitution, instead, ‘rules and guidelines created over 200 years ago’.

Are there other resources for CCSS and the Second Amendment? Sure there are. Just conduct a general internet search for ‘Common Core gun control’ or “CCSS gun control”.
Think about how distorted CCSS is making every subject it touches. Consider that while the CCSS in our lives is illegally based (breaches the 10th Amendment, breaks at least educational laws), we’re seeing policies watered down, legislation created to support the CCSS Machine..not end it!

Bottom line technical detail: CCSS, by reshaping what is taught, what is to be believed, is killing our schools. It’s rendering them as workforce training centers, not academic learning centers. I urge you to look further into the mental health parts of the CCSS Machine’s agenda. Research Anita’s work, find Robin Eubanks‘ writing; listen to Charlotte Iserbyt, use the Women on the Wall calls, like last week’s:  https://soundcloud.com/alice-linahan/women-on-the-wall-conference-call-canisee-what-you-are-teaching-my-child-curriculum-audit (*Note: as soon as last night’s call is posted, I will be sure to add it in the comments section of this article)

RMT: The Other Side of the ESEA Battle?!

One set of voices urges Congress to save our children; one set of voices urges Congress to correct proposed legislation.
One set of voices urges Congress to save our children; one set of voices urges Congress to correct proposed legislation.

Good Warrior Day to you, anti CCSS fighters. We’ve been gearing up for a ‘showdown’ so to speak for months now over HR5, S1177, and  other proposed CCSS/CTE laced legislative bills before Congress in Washington. It’s down to the wire. The voting surrounding most of these is set to possibly happen in a couple of days.

While those of us fighting to END the newer versions of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act), there are those pushing to FIX the newer versions! No, this fact isn’t new news, but what is new, is the amount of fervor on the ‘fix it’, ‘get it right’, or that other pro CCSS aspect; the ‘pass it now!’ groups.
We’ve seen the #StopECAA, #StopCommonCore, and other Twitter handles used to raise awareness for the HOW and WHY our education system needs to be set free from the illegally based CCSS. We know how often those social media outlets (and many others related) are shared in an effort to get all anti CCSS warriors in the game. Case and point, today, many anti CCSS warriors will be active in the efforts to STOP Congress.

Many of our fellow anti CCSS warriors have exposed those from the ‘pass it now’ group of pro CCSS sections, but have we really looked at the ‘fix it’ sector? I think we should.

#getESEAright:

It appears this Twitter handle is related to the NEA (National Educators Association). Specifically an offshoot of their 2015 Conference going on now. (another riddle for today could be ‘Why is the NEA 2015 Conference so conveniently scheduled before a huge voting issue in the U.S. Congress?’ However, I’m digressing with that query.) It’s important to note that the NEA is very supportive of the CCSS Machine. (see:
http://www.nea.org/home/46653.htm)

Here’s a screen shot for youas proof of the Twitter page and its related group:
getright

So, what are some of the ‘getting it right’ parts of ESEA?

According to these attendees of the NEA2015:
One conference attendee’s tweet, “All Kentucky students deserve an opportunity to learn and be successful!”

A member from NY, “Please speak up for students to #getESEAright. The Every Child Achieves Act is a good start.” (this same person said the ESEA is ‘standing up’ for students)

Here’s a visual from another ‘tweet’:

gtrightpic2

From NC, where I live, comes this picture of an unknown person. This particular picture was used as a way to influence the elected officials this went to. If you live in NC, you know these officials voting records concerning CCSS and/or education.

adamssupport

The AFT (American Federation of Teachers) is gathering at least 10,000 letters to the U.S. Senate in support of the ESEA, so far not quite 2, 500 have been sent. If you’d like to see the letter, https://actionnetwork.org/letters/pass-the-every-child-achieves-act

Believe me, there’s much more on this particular Twitter page.

One point I must stress however, is this:
While most of the sentiment is correct that the versions of the ESEA on the table need to be overhauled, the danger is in the rhetoric of just WHAT needs correction. If you look at the above evidence, note what’s been generalized..what’s taught. It seems the ONLY specific this ‘get it right’ group is after is ending the testing, or ending the ‘teaching to the test’.

While these are worthy goals, the overall CCSS/CTE alignment is completely UNSPOKEN! CCSS/CTE is SO toxic to our education we MUST not leave any portion OUT when seeking change! To do so, is to not protect our students and teachers ENOUGH.

If we aren’t specific about ending CCSS/CTE alignment how can we expect Congress to abandon it?!

One last visual you need to see, as an anti CCSS Warrior:

If you don't know what groups NASBE holds allegiance to, here's my previously published article exposing Gates, Pearson, and other key CCSS Machine members. https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/02/14/sic-em-saturday-do-you-know-nasbe/
If you don’t know what groups NASBE holds allegiance to, here’s my previously published article exposing Gates, Pearson, and other key CCSS Machine members. (see below)

This one lays out the money and agenda

https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/27/fom-the-ccssos-hungry-eyes/
This one lays out the agenda and ties to the NGA (National Governors Assoc.) and the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers)

What’s also being left unsaid is how all of this is tied to the overhauling of the HEA (Higher Education Act) and the overhauling of the Zero to Three Year Olds.

(*NOTE: CCSS/CTE are heavily laced in the HEA! I just published a huge article yesterday on how the CCSS/CTE agenda is being geared for the little ones.)

We, as anti CCSS warriors and citizens only have today to fight. We’ve not a clue if we’ll be blessed with a tomorrow.

We’ve ONE ‘shot’ to make our voices heard. We’ve ONE opportunity to expose our Congress members to the TOTAL array of CCSS/CTE issues laced in ALL the education proposed legislation. We’ve not time to pick and choose parts of CCSS/CTE to hold on to, or to see improved. Common Core/Career and Tech Education is ALL illegally based, untested, not educator based, and UNACCEPTABLE!

After much research, time, and effort: my 2014 jpeg creation showing CCSS is preK to post-secondary.

Sic’ ‘Em Saturday: Pint Sized Common Core

arneprek

Anti CCSS Warriors, just in time for the 4th of July, the latest ‘Zero to 3 State Baby Facts’ for each of the 50 states are out. So be ready to ‘rumble’!

The National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families:

http://www.zerotothree.org/

Their mission statement per the above website address is, “ZERO TO THREE is a national, nonprofit organization that provides parents, professionals and policymakers the knowledge and know-how to nurture early development.”

In Anti CC Warrior terms, the above means social and emotional learning, development, and the like are included. It means lots of policy makers and educational decisions are also being made. The Zero to Three Center is also connected to ‘Early Head Start’ (which is a community based, federally funded program). Between the two entities, all 50 states are serviced via over 740 programs. Home visitations are among these services.

From the Zero/Three’s FAQ page:
What is the relationship between the EHS National Resource Center and ZERO TO THREE?
The Early Head Start National Resource Center (EHS NRC) was created in 1995 by the Head Start Bureau and the Administration for Children and Families. Since its inception, the EHS NRC center has been operated by ZERO TO THREE in Washington, DC. The EHS NRC is a storehouse of early childhood expertise that promotes the building of new knowledge and the sharing of information. See the EHS NRC ‘About Us’ section or email ehsnrcinfo@zerotothree.org.

How many programs does Early Head Start include?
Early Head Start, a federally funded community-based program for low-income pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers up to age 3, has 745 programs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The program served nearly 62,000 children in 2004. For more information, please see the Office of Head Start Statistical Fact Sheets.

Does ZERO TO THREE offer Early Head Start programs?
We do not offer any direct service programs. To find an Early Head Start program in your state, visit the “Head Start Locator” page.”

The National Center’s  funding appears to be a mixed bag of public/private funders.  The website, Charity Navigator states that the Zero to Three National Center receives over 70% of its funding from the U.S. Federal Government. (see: http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=6562#.VZcYl_lViko) *NOTE: scroll down to the “Charts” graphics.

Another example of the private donations, is the one from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. See the screen shot below (the website address is included).

According to the Center's 2013 Annual Report (the latest available), our federal and state governments help fund it.
According to the Center’s 2013 Annual Report (the latest available), our federal and state governments help fund it.

To understand the levels of the varied federal funds the Center receives, access their website page, http://www.zerotothree.org/public-policy/federal-policy/tracking-federal-child-care.html
This is important because you’ll see that part of the IDEA funds are used for Zero to Three; Promise Neighborhoods, and other trails that can lead you right back to the Dept. of Education and Common Core.

I was able to locate the 2008 Zero to Three Annual Report’s list of donors. Among them are the Foundation for Excellence in Education (Jeb Bush’s pro CCSS organization), several U.S. Federal levels offices tied to the CCSS Machine in some way, The Casey Foundation, MetLife Insurance*, The Duke Foundation, and many others. See the screen shot below. For the entire report, use the website address provided beneath the screen shot.

Contrast the 2008 information above with the most recent ‘Partners Fact Sheet” and it will reveal what the Center looks for in its partners and much more. We, as warriors against early childhood CCSS need to know these details, especially in light of the fact that both the House’s and Senate’s versions of the ESEA are up for votes in the coming days. One example from the most recent fact sheet is that  Congress gave the Early Head Start around $500 million dollars in 2014. Curriculum for the Little Ones Ages 3 and Under:

A sad reality in today’s CCSS aligned world. I’m including a report where you can find out much more about HOW the curriculum for zero to three years old children is supposed to work. What’s important for the Anti CCSS Warriors to note is that while you won’t see the CCSS name used, you’ll see it’s familiar footprint in the language coupled with the reality of the PreK curriculum MUST align to the Kindergarten Standards in your state. See: multidisciplinary-consultant-module-3
Here’s a brief excerpt for you, “Curriculum for babies?” The answer is “Yes.” The development that occurs from birth to 3 years lays the foundation for all later learning (National Research Council and Institute of Medicine, 2000). To ensure an effective foundation for later development and success, infant/toddler experiences should be designed to meet the individual needs of each child.”

An online School Readiness tool is made available to you on the Zero to Three’s website courtesy of MetLife.

My mother's heart goes out to all the young mothers who will not know that the earliest years are not designed for these 4 skill areas.

Just the Facts, Mom and Dad:

Before I share the 2015 State Baby Facts with you, I’d like you to see the picture below. The words you’ll see in red are mine (based on my extensive research into CCSS and CTE). If ever one picture was worth 1,000 words, this would be it.

To get the 2015 information, state-of-america-s-babies-4-15-final

What you, as a CCSS warrior needs to know, is that early childhood care is going to be used (or is already being used) for school readiness. This intent is in the 2015 report.

Back in 2014, the U.S. Dept. of Ed announced the Preschool Development Grant ‘winners’ and updated information for those Race to the Top States which had already been able to acheive ‘robust’ Preschools.
See: http://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/18-states-awarded-new-preschool-development-grants-increase-access-high-quality-preschool-programs

So what was Duncan’s tweet about? (the very first screen shot you saw). Pushing the need for ‘high quality’ Preschools. When I searched the related links from the tweet, I found this one from MA (Massachusetts) urging parents to sign up to support the PreK Initiative. The Initiative’s issue? Narrowing the achievement gap (they go into a much more lengthy explanation). See: http://prek4ma.org/atstake

The NIEER (National Institute for Early Education Reserach)http://nieer.org/
While this National center is all about their public policies and research, get a look at what organizations are funding this Institute, found in their “vision” section:
“Past and current supporters of research performed by NIEER include: The Pew Charitable Trusts, Carnegie Corporation of New York, The Fund for New Jersey, Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, The Prudential Foundation, The Schumann Fund for New Jersey, Smith Richardson Foundation, Tulsa Community Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI).

What you, the anti CCSS warrior needs to know about the NIEER? The 50 states want to be able to adhere to this body’s parameters. For example, see NC’s statement of ‘bragging rights’:
“North Carolina is one of four states with a Pre-K program that meets all 10 National Institute of Early Education ResearchBenchmarks (NIEER).  Benchmarks include comprehensive Early Learning Standards; staff met education/licensure requirements, professional development; 1:9 staff/child ratio; developmental screens and referral; evidence-based curriculum and formative assessments; monitoring and nutritional requirements.”

If you’d like to see just WHAT those “stellar” NC PreK Standards are, NC_Foundations
The Common Core State Standards tie to the “NC Foundations” can be found on page 17 of the document.

Closing:

Warriors against CCSS, you know that usually on Saturday I’ve got action steps laid out for you. However, I think you can see what actions you need to take with this issue. Knock ’em down. I know I will do my gut level best!
