“The HC Police”

**Author’s Note: An in-depth report on S 406, the White House, Congress, and globalizing education expressly for workforce needs in a nanny controlled environment.**

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, have you heard of S 406? It’s a federal Senate Bill which just passed the Senate floor. This means the next stop is in the House. What does S 406 do?

It isn’t what the Bill ‘does’, it’s what it creates..more federal control over us.


S 406 “Federal Rotational Cyber Workforce Program Act of 2019”:

This “Act” will create an executive agency filled with a “Chief Human Capital Officers Council”. The ‘cyber’ portion refers to the federal employees overseeing cyber security, data collection, and all that intersects them.

S 406 also embeds 2 previous laws.

The Chief Human Capital Officers were ‘created’ in an Act from 2002.

Warriors, what do these Officers do? (I’m calling them the ‘HC Police’ or “Human Capital Police”.)
Basically: set a workforce development strategy; assess people and plan their future in the ‘policing’; align human resources to meet the ‘outcomes’ of the strategy; use ‘best practices’ and ‘benchmarked standards’; ‘measure the police’s intellectual capital’ and link data to performance and growth of their position.

If that sounds a bit confusing, think of it this way, those who are policing us have to be just as aligned and tested as our students. The biggest attraction for the “HC Police”? A love of data and computers. Which leads to ‘coding’. Cybersecurity thrives on coding.

Warriors, ‘coding’ is a tool of the CCSS Machine for students as young as preschool:

If you cannot read what’s in the red box, “Preschoolers are digital natives, they don’t know a life without smartphones, tablets, and computers; or cartoons on demand.” This website goes on to state that ‘coding’ isn’t just for older kids, and introduces the subject as a game.

Since coding exists to breed all kinds of workers who will track us to no end (aka ‘cybersecurity’, “IT”, etc.) there had to be a law for this special arm of the CCSS Machine’s agenda.

The Cyber Workforce? A 2015 Law ‘created’ that.

Warriors, what does the existence of this law do? First, it was embedded in a budget (appropriations) law. Secondly, it set up a national initiative for cybersecurity education.
Third, because it’s a federal law which hasn’t been repealed, it’s active in 2019.

It embedded ‘coding’ as a way of life in education AND jobs. You’ll find ‘cyber’ is embedded in the budget law 428 times. ‘Education’ is embedded 280 times. Where the two intersect is in Section N. Pages 695-797 will show you the 14 ways in which education and the U. S. Dept. of Education were mandated.  

But, wait, don’t we need protection from hackers? Isn’t that the main goal of cybersecurity? Warriors, protecting us from hackers is a goal, but not as much of the main goal as we’ve been told. Here’s what else this Cyber Workforce Assessment Act set us up for:

a) Cyber Corps Scholars (and scholarship programs) Ties it to the NSF (National Science Foundation) and the National Intelligence agencies.
b) Funds for cyber (on line) upgrades under ‘school improvement’, ‘school safety’, ‘education tech support’, redesigned schools, ‘safe schools’ and Project SERV
c) Will use SSI funds (tied to Title 1 and IDEA funds/programs)
d) Will use funds for health care (also ties to ‘c’)
e) Will track and involve the IES (Institute for Educational Sciences)
f) Impacts the Information and Education Exchange Act. This 1948 law is still in existence and set the framework for international information partnerships. Those partnerships in 2019? Data sharing across the globe! (See the section below for more information)
g) Forces all federal agencies directly involved in security or related to security to be involved in data sharing and collection. Said data will be available to third parties and private contractors of the agencies choosing.

So, since all this was previously set up, how will the 116th’s Congress Bill (S 406) increase any or all of the  laws above?

From the ‘HC Police’ stand point:
a) Rotates who’s watching us and tracking us.
b) Spreads the HC Police across all fed agencies.
c) The agencies determine position for HC Police within their domain.
d) All involved determine the level of watching/tracking.
e) U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security dictates all policies and procedures (updates as needed, if needed). Parts of the policies and procedures are Career Tracks in education (all levels).
f) Uses ‘accountability’ (tracking and assessments) to be transparent.
g) Fed agencies can partner HC Police and set policies/procedures.
h) Locks in merit based employment for each rotation (180-365 days).
i) Reports activities to GAO (Gen. Acct. Office). If GAO deems program a ‘success’ HC Police rotations may be extended.
j) Will assess HC Police for proficiency in IT and skill levels completed.
k) Gives a ‘sunset’ of 5 years from time of the Act becoming law. (Means ending in 2024)

Okay, Warriors, ask yourselves this: the U.S. Government has already set us up to be spied upon via the Patriot Act, FEPA (most recently). It’s been proven that the government is a TERRIBLE privacy keeper when it comes to our data, so HOW will having national HC Police improve our privacy?  Quite frankly, it won’t improve our privacy at all. It WILL confine us even more..and it’s in the House of Representatives for their tweaking or approval!

Think how the AI and 5G technologies are already ruining education, as well as our nation.

A Blast From Our Past:

The 1948 Information and Education Exchange Act (aka the Smith-Mundt Act). If you do a general internet search for the S-M Act, you’ll see that it’s basically a propaganda law for public diplomacy. However, knowing what we know about global education overreach, look what I found from the “Information and Education Exchange Act”:

“Interchange of persons, knowledge, and skills”
“Rendering of technical and other services”
NOTICE Section 3!!!

Warriors, the Information and Ed Exchange Act (S-M Act) was updated in 2012. The amendments made to the 1948 version only impacted broadcasting and free speech. Section 3 remains; as do the information and knowledge combined with technology. Section 402 is also still as it was from the original.

So, the S 406 (116th Congress) gives us a window of 5 years, which means 2024. Is there a global education significance involved?

A Crystal Ball Future?

From the AP and Business Wire, this 2018 article lays out for you that yes, by 2024, the global data giants will have complete control of the ‘information sharing’. Yes, Warriors, these global data giants already have a great deal of control, but it will only increase. How and why? Innovations and coders to implant the innovations. The US is among the regions included in the research.

Those data giants included (not limited to) in the Research Report the article tell you about are:

Briefly, by 2026-27 school year: 2 percent increase nationwide in school enrollment for PreK to 8th grade; 8% increase in high school; 33 million teachers; 5% increase in high school graduates; cost of education (taxpayer burden) $670 billion (19% increase); and the cost per pupil: $12,900.00.

The PISA (Program for International Skills Assessment) for 2024 is already in the planning stages, Warriors. The focus? Science and digital technology.

The Human Capital “Forecast”:

Well, we’ve seen what Congress is up to, read what the CCSS Machine is predicting about education and the all encompassing aspect of the UN’s SDGs in it all, so what’s the future of ‘human capital’?

SHRM (Society of Human Resources Management) is a US/global group founded in 1948 (same year as the Information and Education Exchange Act/S-M Act). While I couldn’t find evidence of a direct connection, it’s not hard to see how ‘human resources’ and ‘human capital’ are intertwined.

The Forecast you see in the screen shot is from 2013 and was predicting workforce and human capital up until 2024. There is a more recent Report, as well. However, I wanted you to see a few things in the 2013 Report.
1) look at the title highlighted in red (‘behavioral competencies’)
2) most of us will have to work well past the accepted retirement age
3) there’s a huge skills gap and jobs are being filled; most jobs are replacement positions (meaning when one person ages out, another, younger person steps in)
4) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) in America isn’t stacking up to global counterparts
5) our economy will suffer tremendously if we don’t address 1-4.

Another Report (Deloitte Review) from 2017 states that we are aging, but we’re also learning more and spending more time being educated. Warriors, this is a subjective view. No, we are not seeing students learn more, we are seeing them forced to have education become workforce readiness!

The stark reality, is that ‘human capital’ is part of ‘lifelong learning’!

From 2010, this book detailed the vast amount of globalism America plans for and buys. You won’t see the U.S. Dept. of Education mentioned, but you will see the U.S. Dept. of Labor and its international membership. If you read the acknowledgements, you’ll see a few CCSS Machine member groups. Read the list of acronyms and you’ll find several more CCSS Machine member groups.

So, seeing that the U.S. Dept. of Labor is a member of the ILO (International Labor Organization), how connected to the UN/Global ed/labor agenda are we?

Warriors, the DW4SD (Decent Work for Sustainable Development) will impact American legislation AND policy. After all, the UN’s aim to indoctrinate workforce based education depends on policy changes. What are the changes? Have we already seen this put in place or will we see soon, especially with S 406?

1) better jobs
2) internationally aligned labor standards
3) social protection
4) sustainable enterprises
5) rural economy
6) informal economy
7) labor inspections
8) what’s unacceptable work
9) labor migration
10) employer/worker organizations

These 10 ‘planks’ fit within the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Warriors, education is Goal #4.

Closing:

What are we to do, Warriors? Contact the House of Representatives and demand a ‘no’ to S 406!

We cannot settle on simply shutting down the U.S. Dept. of Education. The U.S. Dept. of Labor is JUST as unconstitutional!

DeVos’s G20 agreement calls for ed/labor to be merged. DC has also made plans to merge the two UNCONSTITUTIONAL departments.

***THIS fits precisely with, not only the UN’s SDGs, BUT the S 406 plans!***

From 1995:
Look at the previous plans for an ed/labor merger.  Obviously,  the  GAO(Gov.  Acct.  Office)  didn’t  see  a true  ‘savings’,  or  otherwise,  the  merger  would  have  happened.(Source)

From 2018, The ‘new’ ed/labor merger plan in visual form. NPR reported it as a money saving move. The White House sold it as a way to help the country improve.


Warriors, this still doesn’t END federal (or global) overreaches in education, it simply shuffles the deck. Instead of 2 unconstitutional federal agencies, one MASSIVE one.
Just after that White House news, Warriors stepped into action. There was a petition to halt merger plans! There was push-back!!

Alexander’s Rag(e)?!

Thanks to a dedicated anti CCSS Warrior, I was pointed to the Morning News by Politico.

While this is a temporary victory, we need to remember the source: Sen. Alexander.

*Cheerleader for ESSA
*Caught on public record stating alignment for HEA (Higher Ed Act) was next after ESSA became law, and supported by many CTE (Career Tech Ed special interest groups).
*He also knows full well that Perkins Funds (used for CTE) are federal level and given to the States.
*Alexander surely knows all this and much more. He helped write these laws! He’s also a huge key player in birth to grave alignment (that infamous late 80s speech is proof).

*We now know the Senate HELP was set to hear ‘discussion’ on S3271, The Workforce Advance Act. The ‘sister’ bill to HR5587, Strengthening Career Tech Education in the 21st Century.

How Both tie to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act):

* ESSA ties those funds to not only post-secondary readiness, but student enrollment numbers for those ages 5 to 17 years old.
* ESSA also ties the Perkins funds to education as defined by WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act).
* ESSA also embedded every single shred of the ESEA of 1965, which means NCLB went with it to, ESSA DID NOT fix NCLB!
* ESSA also gives the US Sec. of Ed tremendous increases in his authority. One of which is he is the one to oversee a smooth transition from old ESEA to new ESSA nationwide. Since Perkins funds/CTE are in ESSA, that means King’s got the authority over them in other bills.

What Politico reported:

The article states, “Democrats are opposed to the new restrictions on the education secretary’s authority, and point out that such measures were not included in the House bill — which cleared that chamber on a 405-5 vote. “Senator Murray has been working with Democrats and Republicans toward a bipartisan bill to reauthorize Perkins CTE, and she is hopeful that this can continue and get done as quickly as possible,” said Murray spokesman Eli Zupnick.”

As far as HR 5587’s (The Strengthening Career Technical Education in the 21st Century which passed 405-5) position on Dr. King’s authority: See Page 18 of the 88 page Bill:

 SEC. 8. TRANSITION PROVISIONS.  Section 4 (20 U.S.C. 2303) is amended—  (1) by striking ‘‘the Secretary determines to be appropriate’and inserting ‘‘are necessary’’;  (2) by striking ‘‘Carl D. Perkins Career and  Technical Education Act of 2006’’ each place it appears and inserting ‘‘Strengthening Career and  Technical Education for the 21st Century Act’’;

As far as King’s power in the S3271, Workforce Advance Act

While in the text of S3271 you do not see Dr. King’s shift from determining ‘appropriate’ CTE  to ‘necessary’ CTE; you do see he has total rein over dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, Perkins Funds, all the Title funds involved in CTE, early college high schools, apprenticeship programs, as well as the backing of the National Assoc. for CTE, see their crosswalk document for aligning ESSA and WIOA.

Closing:

Warriors, while it is a sigh of relief for WHATEVER reason Alexander pulled his stunt this morning, it goes without saying that we MUST brace ourselves.

We’ve been able to see right through the smoke and mirror, pro CCSS Machine chatter from D.C., especially from Senators Alexander and Murray. Remember, they BOTH led the nation to ESSA as law. BUT, they were hardly alone.

We know the HELP Committee isn’t done. There are 2 OTHER CTE Bills remaining in their  hands: S3190 (CTE for Rural Health Care; ties Obama Care to CTE), and S3174 (LADDER Act; creates a national workforce council in the Executive Branch of the government).
Oh, and by the way, Dr. John King, as US Sec. of Ed (0r his appointee) is to be among the council members).

Knowing Fiscal 2016 is winding down, it is truly important we keep tuned to Congress. Especially on the LADDER Act. Why? As I previously researched, published, and have spoken out about, the LADDER funds are ALREADY set aside for Fiscal Years 2017 to 2026. It wouldn’t surprise me at all that Alexander purposefully is taking S3271 off the immediate action table (especially since the House threw the nation under the CCSS Machine 405-5) and put S3174 in its place.

America’s Obsession

In the past week or so, you have been able to learn about the Congressional obsession to ensure our nation has all the adult versions of Common Core, (called CTE, or Career Tech Education) we can stand. CTE goes by several other names and can be found in STEM, as well.

Last Wednesday, Women on the Wall featured what I had uncovered about S 3271 (Advance Workforce Act) and the HR 5587 (Strengthening Career Tech Education for the 21st Century). Both are to reauthorize the Carl Perkins Act of 2006.

Then, 2 days ago, I shared with you how S 3190 (Strengthening Our Rural Health Workforce Act of 2016) is going to not only align health care to CTE (thus Common Core and STEM), it’s going to join other health care laws to it! See:

There have been several national articles featuring the news about S 3271 and  HR 5587 since all this. We need to have just as much national attention on S 3190, as well..maybe even more attention. Why? Our health care system will directly impact millions. Think about the ramifications of it being aligned to the CCSS Machine!

Warriors, Congress is on recess right now (they will be back in D.C. and in session on 9/6/16). We MUST mount the horses of truth NOW and charge!

But, Wait, I Found More!

To prove my statement about the obsession D.C. has with CTE, consider the OTHER evidence below:

Just before Congress took their recess, several members decided to pledge their devotion (and thus will guide their districts) to CTE and all related.
House of Reps:
7/13/16, Rep. Foxx (NC) had these ‘fine’ words to say, “[There] is an unnecessary stigma attached to career and technical education. It’s too often referred to as the “other” track, with the incorrect implication that it’s the path individuals take if they won’t be able to handle the rigors of college. In reality, students who pursue CTE complete a diverse curriculum where they learn important skills for succeeding in the workplace such as problem-solving, research, time management and critical thinking
We need to shift our perspective away from the idea that every student must attend an expansive and expensive four-year program to succeed in the workforce. Educational success is about more than just a degree. It’s about quantifiable skills that employers need in their employees.”

(*Note: This is not the first time I have shared Foxx’s love of an aligned workforce with you, so it should be no surprise to hear her, once again, wax lovingly about it.)

8/11/16, Gov. Pence (IN), also the current Republican Vice Presidential candidate,
shared his love and obsession for CTE back in Feb. 2015. The House’s Ed and Workforce Committee is using that testimony to promote CTE legislation as a ‘bipartisan’ effort and subsequent successes. Here is a small portion of Gov. Pence’s testimony, “[We] cannot forget that a critical goal of our educational system is to enable students to succeed in a 21st century economy and to ensure that students are prepared for college and careers. For some students, this means a four-year college degree. While completing college is a goal which we need more students to attain, going directly into a career may prove the better option for many others.
This is not about a Plan A and a Plan B. This is about two Plan A’s. For those students who are not bound for the traditional four-year college, we must still ensure that they can thrive in their future careers, and one way to do this is to again make career and technical education a priority.”

The U.S. Senate:

Remember, Warriors, this is a D.C. obsession not immune to one Chamber of Congress. So what are our Senators spreading about CTE?

Just before recess went into effect there was another Workforce, CTE related piece of legislation. This one is S 3174 (called the LADDER Act). What will ‘Ladder’ do? Establish an independent Inter-agency Council for Workforce in our Executive Branch of government!

Here’s the bottom line for YG, “You’ll see how students have a limited time after either graduation or their last job to get on one of 3 tracks. They can choose, apprenticeships, training workshops or more education.”  The ‘American’ difference? It is targeting more citizens than our youth.

The ACTE (Association for Career and Technical Education) is one sold out CCSS Machine member organization I have shared much information with you in the past. ACTE embraced WIOA, HEA, and ESSA. ACTE loves STEM, too. The group also has a policy watch action section.  Be sure to read their thoughts on the 2016 General Elections, especially for Congress. Here is an excerpt you MUST share! “While the next president will set the policy agenda, Congress still makes the laws and controls the budget. In recent years, the House and Senate passed major education and workforce development legislation, including the Every Student Succeeds Act and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The Poisonous Love Bites:

Warriors,  each of our States has been bitten by the CCSS Machine’s CTE Love. We see celebrities touting the need for training workforce, we see our legislators fawning over trained workers for their State’s economy worse than nature during mating season, we have watched as our President has led initiatives to use school counselors to ‘win’ over more students for aligned career tracks, and so much more. How is the ‘love’ spread? Money with strings. Agenda with promises. Sold out citizens in key places hell-bent on reshaping our nation to no longer be the “land of the free/home of the brave”, but to be the ‘land of the controllers/home of the enslaved’.

1) All of these Bills (in the 3 articles) have been introduced and are in Committees until Congress reconvenes Sept. 6, 2016.
2) All of these Bills are purposed moves by the CCSS Machine. The private parts of the Machine are influencing the public parts of the Machine to make all the alignment efforts complete.
3) We can work together to influence the Congress members to halt all these Bills!
4) We MUST act quickly and with accuracy.

Congress Loves CTE

congresscteAnti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, it’s one thing that Congress is in its recess right now, but have you seen what they did just before leaving D.C.?  Look above. Both of these, HR5587 AND S3271 made their debut in July 2016.

If you have followed my research and writing for long, you know that one of my specialties is ‘Common Core’ after high school, regardless of where the PreK through High School is completed.

If you haven’t followed me long, then you haven’t seen how, in the fall of 2014, I exposed the Adult Common Core State Standards, or how, I exposed how the Career and Technical Education was changed to Career Tech Education. You haven’t seen where I tied Career Clusters, Career Pathways, The American Apprenticeship Initiative, STEM, and STEM to STEAM, back to Common Core. To keep the focus on what is current, I will not be sharing the links to each of these juggernauts. However, if you need the information, please, let me know.

 

The Purposed Legislative Scramble ( more background before we tackle the ‘latest’ news):

In one of my articles published not long after the ink was dry on ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), I told you the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) was embedded in ESSA about 65 times. WIOA is also linked to HEA (Higher Education Act) via the Carl Perkins funding.

WIOA also ties back to the American Apprenticeships and STEM (along with the STEM to STEAM). ESSA has STEM embedded too. Most citizens have been shocked when I share with them that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; the ‘a’ was added later and embedded the Arts in STEM to create STEAM) is NOT separate from CCSS (Common Core State Standards) but is in fact a product of the interaction between the PCAST (President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) and the President USING CCSS as a detractor from what was really happening! Just as CCSS is no friend to education reform, the way STEM has been rolled out, is not a friend either. Why? The goal of STEM is not education, but a ‘workforce nation’. Does this sound familiar?!

Think of it this way:

Warriors, there has been NO mistake about the workforce shift. There has been no law related (in any way, shape, form, or fashion) to education without it. These have been  carefully plotted moves in the making for YEARS. As other researchers have also shown you, the movement is global, not exclusive to America.

So, it shouldn’t really be a surprise to find our Congress creating MORE legislation along the streamlined workforce path already in place.

What’s a Warrior to do?! Speak up to your Congress members. Especially if they are sponsoring either HR5587 or S3271. Spread the knowledge, many citizens in America are convinced that CCSS (and now ESSA) is ONLY K-12 and in traditional type schools. THIS IS A LIE, regardless who tells you!

ESSA has birth to first grade readiness, special needs alignment, dual and concurrent enrollment, AP or IB classes/courses, and every conceivable education choice ensnared. Either through the digital assessments (to take place inside and outside the home), funding (not just education funds, but health/human services, labor, commerce, etc.), FASFA forms, and/or wrap around services for entire communities.  ESSA is written to conform, not to free States.

 

HR 5587, Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act:

Here’s what we need to know as Warriors Against Fed Led Ed:
1) Being championed as a ‘bipartisan’ piece of great legislation, 5587, passed the Ed and Workforce (U.S. House of Representatives) by a vote of 37-0.
2) 5587 was introduced by Rep. Thompson of PA and Rep. Clark from MA.
3) Press release is dated July 2016, Congress is in recess until early September.
4) The purpose of 5587? “reauthorizes and reforms the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act to help more Americans enter the workforce with the skills they need to compete for high-skilled, in-demand jobs.”
5) Be sure to read the other Representatives who are featured in the Press Release. Take note of Rep. Kline’s. He was a huge backer of ESSA before it was called ESSA. Speaking of such, remember when you step into the voting booths in November that the House of Representative’s education bill (HR5) went on to become key in ESSA’s language. Also remember the voting record of HR5..it had not a single “No” vote.
6) You will also see several bullet points about the great flexibility States will have to streamline work and education (there is even a shameless plug for how it will help taxpayers). As we have proven with ESSA, State and local flexibility is not true.
7) 5587 is 88 pages long. It takes effect 7/1/17. Subtle shifts in language (just as in ESSA) pack a powerful punch. How so? See for yourselves, “(A) by striking ‘‘academic and career and  technical skills’’ and inserting ‘‘academic knowledge and technical and employability skills’’; (B) by inserting ‘‘and programs of study’’  after ‘‘technical education programs’’;  (2) in paragraph (3), by striking ‘‘, including  tech prep education’’;  (3) in paragraph (4), by inserting ‘‘and programs of study’’ after ‘‘technical education programs’’; and  5  (4) in paragraph (6), by inserting ‘‘or programs’’ after ‘‘education schools’’ ”
8) You’ll also see other big shifts in the language, like ‘in demand’ occupations, regionally based education, competency based education, etc.

S3271, Workforce Advance Act:

The Press Release from Sen. Bennet (CO)‘s website: https://www.bennet.senate.gov/?p=release&id=3742
Again, bipartisanship is being heralded.
Again, ‘more choice’ in learning (a very false positive statement). See how Sen. Bennet’s website stated it, give more high school students the opportunity to take career and technical education college courses that can help prepare them for success in the 21st century. The Workforce Advance Act will help strengthen and expand dual and concurrent enrollment and early college high school options as part of Perkins-supported career technical education (CTE) programs. Strong CTE programs can provide vital access to the knowledge and skills needed for job and career success.”

But that’s not all S3271 will do. Check out what teachers have to look forward to, “The bill would allow schools to use a portion of the funding they receive through the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act for tuition and fees for CTE college courses. It would also allow school districts to use funding to support teachers pursuing the credentials needed to teach these courses in their high schools, helping to remove a barrier to providing access to college credit. Finally, the bill would allow the Department of Education to use national CTE activities to help identify successful methods and best practices for providing dual or concurrent enrollment programs and early college high school career and technical education opportunities.”

Warriors, ‘region specific education’ is already written into ESSA. Teachers being trained to teach post-secondary readiness (for college and career) is already written into ESSA! ‘National activities’ and CTE activities’ are also already written into ESSA!

Other tentacles of WIOA, HEA, STEM, and ESSA in S3271:
1) apprenticeships
2) public-private partnerships, especially in businesses
3) data mining and sharing of data between U.S. Dept. of Ed, U.S. Dept. of Labor, U.S. Commerce Dept., and all of these at the State levels, too.
4) more use of students as ‘lab rats’ for ‘evidence based research’.
5) how those in rural areas will be encompassed
6) special needs tracks for CTE will also increase

Presently, the U.S. Senate’s HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) Committee has S3271. This is also the same group headed by Sen. Lamar Alexander. HELP is also charged with checking up on how ESSA is progressing.

Where did the backbone for S3271 come from? According to the Senate’s supporting documents for S3271, the State Directors for CTE  and the Assoc. for CTE created a document of principles for S3271. See: Senate Principles Crosswalk_FINAL

What you see below is the evidence to verify what my research has already shown,
1) that WIOA is, in fact embedded in ESSA.
2) that school counselors (per a White House led Initiative) are to influence students
(related will be the counselors at the one-stop-job/career-centers where non traditional students and those seeking a job will be influenced)
3) that ANY school receiving Perkins funding will be impacted (this includes the proprietary (for profit) schools and virtual schools.

SKILLS Act? It’s a Law Now and It Has a New Name!:

In today’s ‘From the File Tuesday’, we’ll look at several legislative moves meant for the express purpose of aligning our nation. First up, the SKILLS Act (Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act). It’s bill number was HR803. It was put before Congress in the 2013-14 Session. According to the Library of Congress, HR803 has had 6 makeovers. The very first one appeared in Feb. 2013. Now, if you’ll remember, I shared with you over the weekend, that I’d tie the SKILLS Act to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014). Folks, you may already know this, or you may not. The tie? Quite simply, over the course of the Congressional ins/outs/swapping Chambers, etc. The SKILLS Act was renamed to become the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act!

(*Note: The WIOA became law in July 2015. One of my Nov. 2014 published articles detailed  information on how  legislation set in Washington trickled down to the state level and how the data collection in the name of Workforce was happening. When it was SKILLS:

When HR803 was known as “SKILLS”:
1) The bill (introduced by NC legislator Virginia Foxx)  ‘will empower employers, rein in bureaucracy, and provide America’s workers with a more dynamic, flexible, and effective network of job training services.”


2) The bill used a 2011 Government Accountability Office document, which reveals connections to  the 2009 “Recovery Act”. (remember this was the Act which gave us ‘shovel ready’ projects, Affordable Health Care, and a host of other changes?)

3) A program “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)” was included. Why is this important in 2015? Did WIOA keep this program? Expand it? Keep reading, my warriors!

4) The bill gave our governors even more power when it comes to workforce training programs. (If you’ve not seen any of my published work on just HOW far NC has gone to align education for the good of NC, here’s one where not only will you see the selling out of the citizens of NC to the Common Core, you’ll also get to see how the state used its grant money from the Workforce Quality Data (in the Nov. 2014 article above) : https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/08/27/ccss-follow-up-system-more-than-money-will-follow-your-students/

I give you these items so we can look at where these programs/efforts have been increased through the WIOA or other legislation (will include federal and state levels).

TANF:

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families certainly sounds like a noble cause, and I’m sure for those in need, the help is appropriate. However, in the vane of aligning education for workforce needs, is it truly noble? To learn more about TANF, see their website: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ofa/programs/tanf
TANF is part of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (one of the 3 federal agencies using education as an alignment tool to reform America)
One of the features about TANF mentioned in that Government Accountability Report? The ‘one-stop-job-centers’ created by combining at least 2 programs. Here’s an excerpt, “Options that may increase efficiencies include colocating services and consolidating administrative structures, but implementation may pose challenges. While WIA Adult and ES services are generally colocated in onestop
centers, TANF employment services are colocated in one-stops to a lesser extent. Florida, Texas, and Utah have consolidated their welfare and workforce agencies, and state officials said this reduced costs and improved services, but they could not provide a dollar figure for cost savings.”

TANF funds include Title 4 funding for each state, Anita Hoge, a well known anti CCSS Warrior has shared many times how Title 4 funding is being abused to align our schools. The abuse WILL continue in the current Student Success Act (HR5), the Every Child Achieves Act (S1177), and the upcoming efforts toward re-authorizing the HEA (Higher Education Act).

Tech Thursday: Part Two of the HEA, STEM, the Workforce, and America

Last we were ‘together’, anti CCSS Warriors, I was sharing with you how the Higher Education Act (of 1965) is set for a re-authorization sometime very soon. We were able to connect the dots between the purposed alignment between the pre-K to 12th grade and post-secondary levels of education. In the last article, you saw how the current members in the U.S. House of Representatives have put together many bills related to re-vamping higher education. As I closed Tuesday’s article I promised you we’d look at the S1398 (Senate’s version of the “America Competes” Act), how we would tie it to not only STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math), but to CTE (Career and Technical Education)as well. CTE is the ‘adult version’ of the pre-K through 12th grade CCSS. (I’ve shared with you repeatedly exactly how this is documented.)

Today’s article will prove to be a distinct eye-opener. So much so, I’m even shaking my head in just how interconnected the American reform is proving to be. Warriors, we’ve known the real agenda behind the education reform is the trained workforce. We’ve seen how the 2014 passage of the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) has embedded CTE (written in via one of its other names, Career Pathways) and is woven into the legislation at least 21 times, per a high ranking U.S. Dept. of Labor spokesman.

Part One gave you vital information as to just HOW the WIOA and HEA are united via the CCSS Machine. A machine which includes those in public office as well in private business.

 

So just what is “America Competes”? It’s designed to involve America’s energy competitiveness in the global scheme, the ‘need’ for 21st Century technology (which includes energy efficiency, climate control, and other related activities here in America) AND education that’s aligned with Pre-K through 12th grade CCS Standards. As we know, CCSS can also mean ‘college and career ready standards’, ‘essential standards’, ‘career pathways’, ‘career clusters’, and on and on the names go.
(*Note: While I’ve not studied any of the ‘AC’ legislative bills in-depth, it does appear that the U.S. Dept. of Energy, along with the NSF {National Science Foundation; another federal level government entity}, get to influence the U.S. Dept. of Education in HOW to align courses, scholarships, etc. to fit all of the above into “America Competes”!  How will this be BEST accomplished? STEM and its related programs. This will include the STEaM, Common Core, Next Generation Science and MORE!)

All this “American competitiveness” is to be completed in the name of scientific research.

S1398, “America Competes”: 

As I shared on Tuesday, both the Democrats and the Republicans of the Senate like this bill. (The House has 2 versions, one which the sitting Republicans like, one the sitting Democrats like)
Here are some facts about S1398, you, the anti CCSS Warrior need the most:
a) the sponsor of the bill? Sen. Lamar Alexander (as is one of the chief people in rewriting the ESEA, and the HEA)
b) it was introduced in May 2015
c) it has many co-sponsors from both main political parties, every one of whom voted ‘yes’ to the ‘Every Child Achieves’ Act, also headed up by Sen. Alexander (Sen. Murray was also heading up the ECAA ‘charge’)
d) it is classified as an ‘energy’ bill, not an ‘education’ bill
e) while much shorter than its counter part bills in the House, it does involve ‘talent expansion’ programs, lots of taxpayer money, certain data NOT being made available to the public, “National Laboratories”, public-private partnerships being encouraged and incentive driven, removing duplicate authority in the “Science Enhancement Education” realm within the U.S. Dept. of Energy (question is, who gets to the be ONE authority?), protecting the PACE graduate program, giving ‘early career awards’, rewarding schools which drive up the attendance and graduation rates, and merit pay based peer reviews. (Does any of this sound anything remotely like what we’ve seen the primary and secondary educational reform? Of course it does! It’s MORE CCSS Machine rhetoric) While much shorter at the moment, remember the bill could grow by leaps and bounds when all is said and done.

The U.S. Dept. of Energy’s Angle for Higher Education:
Before we get too far into just HOW aligned to CCSS/STEM/CTE the Dept. of Energy is, see this screen shot:

As we've discovered, where you see "Workforce" or "STEM", you know Common Core or Career and Technical Education is there as well.

It appears, from what I can find, that the U.S. Dept. of Energy is really throwing its educational influence towards the Workforce in the “Smart Grid” sector. One such example comes from the MS Gulf Coast Community College. See: Mississippi-Gulf-Coast-CC-Workforce-Development-Electric-Power-Sector
Now, if you’ve followed my blog for very long, you know how I’ve given you proof of how the community colleges across the nation have aligned themselves to the CCSS Machine. From the CCSS derived ‘Adult Standards’ to the CTE courses, hybrid classes (meaning on-line and in-person), and, beyond.

Below, is another example of the Workforce ‘chunks’ your student (or maybe even yourself) can find as an educational choice.

What you’ll find is more about the energy stance, the economy, or other items than you ever will about the academic nature of the student achieving a “Smart Grid” workforce degree. Why? Because, as we’ve seen time and time again, in all things related to the CCSS Machine, academics as we’ve known them, take a backseat to service. As you might notice, the above gives you a birds-eye view of how the U.S. Dept. of Energy has been able to influence the Workforce angle of education.

 

The White House Chimes In:

Back in 2010, the “America Competes” Act helped create “CoSTEM”. The purpose? According to the White House’s website, it was to co-ordinate the federal level activities in STEM education. (*Note: Does anyone recognize that ‘federal level activities’ violates the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution?!)

One of the co-chairs to CoSTEM is from the NSF (National Science Foundation). I’ve given you plenty of evidence how the NSF has been party to aligning our education, but a great reminder as to HOW is found below.

Closing:

I truly hope you’ve been able to see my point in sharing what I have to complete the look at just how toxic the revamping of any educational choice is when put through the CCSS Machine’s cycle for America. If you’ve not, I’ll try to summarize below.
1) Any educational re-authorization currently on the table which impacts pre-K through grad school is seemingly under one man’s domain: Sen. Lamar Alexander.
2) The public-private partnership which makes up the CCSS Machine is impacting education from a birth to grave aspect. This will include not only our pre-K through grad school choices, but also our entire communities. Is this really what’s best for America?
3) That by ensuring every federal law possible that can influence an alignment to the Workforce agenda can happen, we see our human lives are less considered than the economy. How did I arrive at this point? Simple, look at the CCSS Machine agenda, it’s more about economy than personality.
4) Finally, by allowing a CCSS/CTE aligned Higher Education bill to pass, we see the cement ‘bridge’ completed from the earliest of American lives to the oldest completed.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s not a cement bridge, but, a cement block. The CCSS Machine wants you to envision a bridge to cross over when in reality it’s a cement block tied to your ankle to drag you down…and remember..it’s all in the name of ‘education’.

FTF: Update for STEM, Workforce, and the HEA, Part One

Warriors against the CCSS Machine. We know that Machine includes STEM, Career Tech Education, and Workforce. , it’s been very well researched and documented. We’ve seen the train wreck Congress made out of the Student Success Act, the Every Child Achieves Act. We won’t have to wait much longer to see what is revealed when the re-authorized version of the Higher Education Act appears. Today, it’s a quick review of where the bill is and then an update of what we can prepare for.

Remember, the BEST warrior is a PRO-ACTIVE warrior.

Review:

1) The HEA (Higher Education Act) was created roughly the same time as the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Act); 1965.

2) Ted Mitchell, from the U.S. Dept. of Education has been quietly working on helping re-vamp the HEA while Sen. Alexander has been much more vocal in re-vamping ALL education to align with the CCSS Machine. How do I know this? 4) All of the rewritten, reauthorized education acts have a united purpose: WIOA
See this excerpt from my June 2015 article titled, “Halting a CCSS/CTE Aligned Workforce?”:“To the Warriors against the ‘Core’, we’ve learned over and over that the CCSS Machine has many parts to it. Those parts include Career Clusters, Career Pathways, the American Apprenticeship Initiative, Career and Technical Education, and the  Common  Core Standards (which encompass every subject, including the Arts and PE).

One of the biggest parts of the Machine? That would be the amount of legislation expressly written to protect the embedding of all this illegally based education reform!

To date one of the most important pieces of this type of legislation is the (already passed as  a law in 2014 on the federal level) WIOA. Also known as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.”

Updates:

Where is the new version of the HEA, now? We’ll get to that it a bit.

1) Let’s see what related moves have been made. Why? Think back to the amendments offered to be attached to the mammoth Every Child Achieves Act. Much of the plan behind those amendments was to add in key pieces of language created to meet specific goals, or, in the case of the public/private partnered CCSS Machine, the agenda. When the newer version of the HEA is presented, don’t think similar tactics won’t be used. They absolutely will. How do I know?

See this excerpt from May 2015, “In a joint statement released on May 21, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA) announced the formation of bipartisan working groups tasked with addressing four key areas within the Higher Education Act (HEA) reauthorization. The four working groups, composed of HELP committee staff from both parties, will focus on issues of accountability, accreditation, college affordability and financial aid, and campus sexual assault. Though committee staff will lead the meetings, all Senate HELP Committee members will be invited to attend. Senators Alexander and Murray noted they look forward to the bipartisan collaboration in the weeks to come as the reauthorization process continues to progress. Remember all the ‘bipartisanship’ used in HR5 and S1177? Refer back to ‘confessional’, if you will, by Sens. Alexander/Murray where the pro CCSS groups helping create the legislation were thanked publicly! (*Note, if you didn’t know it, when a legislator publicly thanks a person, group, or business, it is because they were extremely involved and partly responsible for the success of the legislation passing!)

2) “America Competes”, both the U.S. House and Senate have bills with this name (HR1806, the Republican version/HR 1898, the Democratic version/S1398, supported by both parties)

2a) HR1806:
This version has passed the House, already has 4 amendments and 11 related bills! Here’s an excerpt from Section 115 you have to read, It is the sense of Congress that(1) in order to bolster the STEM workforce pipeline, many industry sectors are becoming involved in K–12 initiatives and supporting undergraduate and graduate work in STEM subject areas and fields,(2) partnerships with education providers, STEM focused competitions, and other opportunities have become important aspects of private sector efforts to strengthen the STEM workforce;(3) understanding the work that private sector organizations are undertaking in STEM fields should inform the Federal Government’s role in STEM education; and(4) successful private sector STEM initiatives, as reflected by measurements of relevant outcomes, should be encouraged and supported by the Foundation.” (*Note “Foundation” refers to the National Science Foundation)

Think a STEM pipeline workforce doesn’t sound like a bad thing for America? Consider that many public/private partnerships are ALREADY in place and working well in bringing about the CCSS Machine’s master plan of an aligned workforce (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/06/25/tech-thursday-p-tech-its-here-its-now-and-its-part-of-the-p3-ccss-machine/https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/06/19/fom-a-new-ccs-coalition-for-community-schools/https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/31/ftf-ccss-pearsonites-at-your-higher-ed-campuses-now/) Each of these will lay out for you how STEM, the Workforce, and others have already begun to reinvent elementary and secondary education to align with post-secondary education.

2b) HR1898:
This version passed before the Memorial Day holiday and gives the National Science Foundation (NSF),  the U.S. Dept. of Energy, and other related groups MORE funding. Why? To step up STEM, especially where energy is concerned. Now, that may sound like no big deal, however, consider what many of those of us who oppose CCSS, CTE have discovered about not only STEM, but the NSF’s ties to the CCSS Machine. One of my very first articles gave you the document where it was stated STEM would be THE goal and that Common Core was to be the means to achieve that goal. Since then, I’ve given you more information about NSF. NSF has been tied to CCSS in so many ways, it should be criminal. (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/02/18/wybiupclosewithnsf/ )
To read the short summary statement of the HR1898’s text it plainly states the purpose is to improve America’s competitiveness AND other purposes. Sections 201-205 spell out the STEM, STEaM, and Workforce agenda. (STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; STEaM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math). Finally, where’s the HEA now? It’s not in any one bill yet; rather there are several HEA re-authorization bills in Congress. You can find this when you access the link from Congress. However, don’t assume this link contains the only ones on the table. There are others related to them, or others with different names. Ones we need to watch will contain many of the CCSS Machine buzzwords like ‘outcome based education’, ‘reform’, ‘opportunity’, etc. Also, consider what committees these bills are coming from and are currently in. If you see ‘workforce’, that’s a big clue to what we can expect. See the screen shot to enter the exact phrase to narrow done the search:

Tech Thursday: CCSS Workforce Pushing Labor Reform

Common Core for the Workforce is present through Career Tech Education. This isn’t new news for those of us fighting the CCSS. However, were you aware that there’s a push to reauthorize the Higher Education Act? By doing so, you can bet CCSS via CTE will be there.

The Higher Ed Act:

Originally written in 1965, under Pres. Johnson domestic agenda for America called “The Great Society”. It was to increase amounts of federal aid universities and colleges received. The Act was to also increase student aid to get into institutions of higher education. It also established a national teacher corps program.
The HEA (as the Higher Education Act can be referred to) has been reauthorized several times. The updates to the law have been many and wide reaching. Much of what your students and mine fill out on their FASFA forms is tied up in this law.

Most notable in what I’ve been able to find in researching is the 1998 versrion known as “Gear Up”  If reauthorized, this would be the 3rd time. As always, the CCSS is buried. Where would it be found? Perkins funding, those Titles funding programs, work study programs, apprenticeships, and probably more. We’ll get to the particulars in a bit. But first, what does “Gear Up” stand for? “Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs”. Remember, this was started in 1998. Before CCSS. But how ironic that we have so much ‘readiness’ rhetoric in modern education.

The 2008 Workforce/Education ‘Marriage’:

According to the Center for Law and Social Policy’s document highlighting the changes to HEA, here’s the one that joined education and businesses (think P3s, or public-private partnerships), “Creates Business Workforce Partnerships for Job Skill Training in High Growth Occupations or Industries. Colleges often lack the “venture capital” to start up new, credit-bearing programs that can respond to business workforce needs because state funding and federal financial aid typically only flow after students are enrolled in programs. This grant program funds partnerships of colleges, employers, and, where applicable, labor representatives to expand or create credit-bearing college programs responsive to business workforce needs, adapt college offerings to workers’ schedules, expand worksite learning opportunities, and purchase equipment related to such academic or job training programs. The grants are targeted toward programs serving nontraditional students, such as working adults, and can be used to create for-credit career pathways (Section 803).” 

Other items which supported this ‘marriage’? TRIO and Bridges from Jobs to Careers. If you don’t know much about TRIO, here’s what the U.S. Dept. of Ed. has to say about it, “The history of TRIO is progressive. It began with Upward Bound, which emerged out of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 in response to the administration’s War on Poverty. In 1965, Talent Search, the second outreach program, was created as part of the Higher Education Act. In 1968, Student Support Services, which was originally known as Special Services for Disadvantaged Students, was authorized by the Higher Education Amendments and became the third in a series of educational opportunity programs. By the late 1960’s, the term “TRIO” was coined to describe these federal programs. If you don’t know much about Bridges from Jobs to Careers, it basically was a federal program which awarded competing higher education institutions grant money. There were mandatory requirements for use of the funding. In our current educational panaroma, each state appears to have some sort of bridge/work program. I didn’t find all 50 states in my general search, but I did find several states which are proudly open for business, so to speak.

A Jump Ahead to 2014:

While CLASP is still somewhat fresh on our minds, let’s see what more current ed/jobs efforts they’ve been up to.

Here’s a screen shot from their website that plainly has “Career Pathways” displayed. It also states ‘low income’ and ‘disadvantaged’. With some of the sweeping changes embedded in HR5, who is classified as ‘disadvantaged’ and ‘low income’ could drastically change to include almost every student!

There’s no question in my mind how much CLASP is tied into the Gates Foundation and is helping direct the policies of this nation. How utterly disgusting. If you want more information about them, see: http://www.clasp.org/issues/postsecondary Oh, and one more nugget of truth the WIOA (Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act) which has 21 embedded CCSS, CTE, and/or Career Pathways in it will take effect July 2015.

The 2015 Push:

If you’ve not already had to run away from your computer screaming after the bombshells from above, know that Washington is hard at work as we speak plotting even more reform. To this end, refer back to the opening screen shot you saw. It’s at the very top of the page. What I want you to find is the phrase about the 4 pillars of action to be taken in reauthorizing HEA. I’ll include the PDF file, but here’s a quick summary:
Point #1: empowering family decision making; Point #2: Simplifying and improving student aid; Point #3: promoting innovation, access, and completion (of what isn’t clarified upfront); and Point #4: insuring strong accountability and a limited federal role.

Drawbacks to the points include more data tracking/mining via the Integrated PostSecondary Education Data System (IPEDS); the federal agencies streamlining information families can access to cause less confusion; more robust financial literacy; having the U.S. Dept. of Ed create a higher education rating system; strengthening federal financial aid; streamlining student debt repayment plans to better serve taxpayers; making the Pell Grant flexible; possible federal interference in the ‘innovation, access, and completion’ point ( I strongly believe you should read and assimilate the information directly from the source); increasing the push for more digital learning; increasing the competency-based outcomes for students; more federal assistance for those with the lowest incomes; ramping up teaching preparedness via federal programs and/or influence; and, a possible move to make accreditation entities become more rigorous when it comes to post secondary education institutions. Closing:

Well, the original musing I posed was all this opportunity or ultimatum. It is my researched opinion that opportunity is a farce in the realm of Common Core. Ultimatums are a distinct possibility when you factor in all the amount of controlling strings the CCSS Machine has for us.

Common Core Standards have been proven to be embedded in our post-secondary schools via Career Pathways, Career Tech Ed AND Workforce Training! So what do you do with your legislators who are opposed to Common Core yet are working overtime to ensure Workforces???

North Carolina’s Story:

As you know, I’ve been sharing how the state I reside in has been ramping up the post-secondary Common Core since I began my blog in mid 2014. If you check my link here, you’ll get every story I’ve written about the subject (there at least 4 pages of articles): https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/?s=workforce From the post I wrote called “Tech Thursday: NC’s Workforce Despicable Moves”, you’d find this excerpt, “Here in NC, everyone wants in on the educational direction our students take. We have the Dept. of Commerce firmly involved, we have the NC Chamber of Commerce foaming at the mouth to put their money’s worth in, private corporations have become education’s pimp. All the while, the most of the politicians smile and tell you how ‘great’it is!” What preceded this was this note, “**NOTE: While I am basing this off what I discovered here, in NC, do not assume if you live elsewhere, you are not impacted. ” CCSS aligned Workforce” is alive, implemented, and growing in all 50 states!”

From my January 20th article, “From the File Tuesday: Career Readiness and Data”, this evidence, “Also, further legislation has continued to progress the CTE in our schools, all while our heads have been turned on K-12 Common Core movement. For example, NC has stepped up its game for Workforce, CTE courses. How? Legislation that ties not only the Dept. of Public Instruction, but Dept of Labor AND Commerce Dept.!! So Who Among the CCSS Opposers are NOW Workforce Supporters?:

This is a tough one, because fighting Common Core takes all the warriors it can. So when one splits his/her awareness, it’s always up to the citizens to help give them a hand in remaining as up-to-date on all the cracks, crevices, and areas the Common Core Machine is cranking away in. For example one of the NC Senators who opposed Common Core in K-12 (and even nominated me to sit on the now famous NC Academic Standards Review Commission), has been appointed to several committees in our General Assembly which will continue to pave the way legislatively FOR education reform to fit a Workforce agenda!! These committees include Education/Higher Education, Appropriations for Education/Higher Education. Here are his words, “Serving as co-chairman of the Work Force and Economic Development Committee is very exciting.  The reverberating theme of our last session was job creation.  We used tax reform and regulatory reform to create a business environment encouraging job creation.  Additionally, we used education reform to make sure our students could read and have the skills required for gainful employment.  Our Workforce and Economic Development committee will focus on using tax dollars efficiently to train students with the skills in demand today.  Furthermore, we will focus on ways to retrain displaced workers in order to acquire the skills needed to find new jobs and, likewise, helping our military veterans find jobs.” 

In addition to the above Senator’s remarks,  the 2015 President of the NC Senate, had much to say along the lines of education reform and workforce. Below is the video from the opening day of the new session. Mr. Berger remarks begin about the 25 minute mark.

Not to be left out, the House of Representatives also had something to say about education reform and workforce. According to the Raleigh News and Observer (newspaper that’s liberally biased), both the House and the Senate will spend much of the session ‘focus(ing) on jobs, the economy, continued reform of state government and education’ See:  http://www.newsobserver.com/2015/01/14/4475708_republican-rep-tim-moore-elected.html?rh=1

My Point/Action Steps:

While the above links will give you the names of the NC legislators and how they voted on the subject of Common Core; along with where some of them are now serving in the capacity of Workforce Reform, there are other committees to look towards. For example, here in NC, there’s a joint Study Committee on Education Reform, which includes some members of the public. Now, as notorious as CCSS is for having public, private partners, I’d dare say THOSE folks need a good looking into to.

A) IF you live in NC, what to do: 

Contact those who opposed the Core, yet are supporting Workforce education reform! Visit their offices, write them emails, help educate the constituents of each of the districts represented! Since we know the NC Chamber of Commerce is heavily involved, hold their feet to the fire!! Use the tried and true grapevine; social media; letters to the editor.

B) IF you live outside NC, what to do:

Investigate your Workforce Education Reform members; Education Reform; Appropriations for Education/Higher Education. We all know where the money is, there the Standards will be. Find out if your state level Chambers of Commerce are deep into the legislation. If so, find out where and expose it!! Remember, word of mouth; credible evidence.

C) For all of us:

When contacting Legislators, keep your facts concise (don’t babble); when writing, keep bullet points of the most crucial importance to a one page list. Provide documented proof (remember, each of my articles is written so that any link or document is totally accessible for sharing). Have students who are living the CCSS aligned Workforce saga talk with the legislators!

Finally, while some states aren’t involved in the CCSS, they ARE involved in Workforce! Don’t let your great state settle for CCSS adult aligned education (which via CCSS begins in elementary levels of education). Remember, cradle to career can’t happen IF we fight it with purposed direction.
