Teamwork Agenda: Marketing Lies

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, I know that we have heard SO many educratic lies about schools in America, we could scream.

Wednesday night (9/6/17) I was the honored guest on Women on the Wall’s weekly anti CCSS Machine call. To say it was an easy topic, would be a lie. It wasn’t, in fact, I stumbled through quite a bit. Not because I wasn’t prepared, I was so upset about what is happening!

What was the topic? The upcoming broadcast of the EIF/Project XQ’s “Super School Live”. It’s set for 9/8/17 and is to be aired on ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC. I urge you to listen to the archived version (above). You’ll need to have a pen and paper (or whatever you use to take notes) handy.

If you don’t have time to listen to the archive, let me state as concisely as I can that the ‘teamwork agenda’ surrounding the broadcast is marketing lies to justify making over American education, especially at the high school level. (*Note: the announcement for the Call had the archived links to my researched published articles you may wish to access for the evidence showing the lies and deception.)

In a ‘jiffy’, you can access the 2006 “Redesigning High School” Report : Reinventing_American_High_School
(*This Report is by the Association for Career and Technical Education, or ACTE)
Later in this article we will revisit what the latest from ACTE is.

This effort is NOT new. It’s NOT USA born or created, either. It’s sick and it’s twisted. The ‘teamwork agenda’ in spreading the marketing lies about education is set to one goal: weak-minded citizens trained for boosting the economy. To find out how you can connect it all together, please listen to the archived call.

Warriors, here’s the entire You Tube video which was discussed at length during the Women on the Wall Call. I only discussed roughly the first 20 minutes of the almost 1 hour and 20 minutes.

More Teamwork Agenda Marketing Lies:

Warriors, what you see below is from my Common Core Diva Facebook page.  I posted this as a sort of follow up to last night’s announcement about the Women on the Wall call and the marketing lies in education.

Here are my comments which lead up to the screen shot:
“Mike Rowe’s first words are, ” In Germany..”
Mr. Rowe has also been used as a puppet for Congress in their push to embed MORE CBE and CTE (Career Tech Ed, which is adult Common Core).
As far as the school mentioned? My husband’s place of employment.
More marketing lies to justify the workforce based shift in education as well as treating humans as commodities, not blessings.”

(*Hear him in the video. ***Warning! The ATTN: video does contain a blasphemous use of the Lord’s name.***)

If you do not know “The ATTN:” social media site, it’s a site where anything from the headlines is used to catch your eye. According to their website, ‘compelling issue-driven content’. In other words: a marketing strategy used to inflate issues.

Warriors, how do I know the false marketing about an educated workforce is ripe in America? Look at the blow-back from my post on the CC Diva Facebook page:

Followed by another person who has obviously woken up to the marketing lies:

This was followed by my rebuttal points:

Warriors, then check out the next person who decided to agree with the disagreeable person who spoke first. You’ll also see my reply to them:

Warriors, here’s a sampling of the other videos Mike Rowe has appeared in to push the teamwork agenda and marketing lies:

My research connecting the Congressional ‘love’ for such a celebrity and his ‘star power’ to push an agenda which supports the CCSS Machine was published back in early March 2017. (Please make sure you read the comment by Patriot Mongoose. The links provided by the Patriot are necessary to further help expose the marketing lies about ‘skills gap shortages’)

1) Congress’s devotion to CTE (Career Tech Education) from 2016’s session. If you want to see some of the same devotion in the early part of the 2017 session, find that here.
2) My open memo to CTE Teachers and Leaders everywhere is one we need to re-visit now that school has begun.
3) The current VP (Vice President) is a CTE believer and backer. This is huge in the current landscape of education.

Archived Rowe CTE Marketing Teamwork Agenda Lies:

74rowe
Warriors, you can access The 74 article here. If you do not have the time to read the article, here’s what is the most important. Mr. Rowe has testified 2 other times before.
1) Rowe is a long-time CTE advocate.
2) Two of his tweets about CTE are seen on the right hand side of the article. One even plays up “Make America Great Again”.
3) Rowe testified in 2011 and 2014. The purpose? A marketing makeover for CTE.
4) The 74 is a pro CCSS Machine member organization, so their spin on Rowe’s activity for CTE. Of course, here, on my blog, you’ll find there is no spin, only the researched facts behind the marketing lies.

NC’s Spin for Teamwork Agenda:

Warriors, earlier in this article, I said we’d revisit the ACTE. Why? One of the latest headlines is about the wonderful news of NC’s CTE unifying with this national organization.

ncacte

If that doesn’t mean much, consider the screen shot (near the beginning of this article) from NASCAR Technical Institute promoting Mike Rowe. NASCAR Tech is in NC! (It’s a branch school of the AZ based corporation.)

In NC, CTE offices are housed in the NC DPI (North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction) for K-12th grades. In post-secondary education, the NC Board of Governors oversees it. Factor in the NC Dept. of Labor, as well.

Warriors, remember, because of the unifying forces behind the U.S. Dept. of Education and the U.S. Dept. of Labor, we have data tracking expressly FOR aligning careers to academics!

Let’s also consider that CTE is embedded in job seeking assessments used by those one-stop career centers or job application sites as part of your State government. You’ll find CTE in those skill based apprenticeships, too.

Warriors, I want to show you one more way the marketing hype has been used against us.

Here in my town, we’re seeing a 2014 bond (was placed on the ballot for citizens to vote on) come to fruition in the form of a ‘renovated’ city high school.

The money poured into the ad campaign for the renovation was plenty. The write-ups in the local news sources were also quite numerous. The bumper stickers and T-shirts all encouraged folks to vote ‘yes’ for the Bond, because if you didn’t, you somehow were being non-supportive and a terrible person.
As part of the Bond package, new spaces for CTE were planned on. Guess what? They’ve been built. There’s even a Career Bridge Council to help utilize the teamwork agenda built on education lies.

Closing:

Warriors, we MUST continue to expose these team driven marketing lies about education! To do any less is simply unacceptable!

The Con Jobs Live On?

To all my Anti-Fed Ed Warriors, I hope you saw the news a few days ago that the U.S. Secretary of Ed and the U.S. Secretary of Labor held a joint press conference about skill-based education. While each of the leaders I mention were either elected, or put into office at the hands of those elected, I am not stating for a fact they are ‘con artists’. I am pointing to their ‘con artist-like’ actions.

As we know, Warriors, actions (in education) ‘speak’ a lot louder than the (CCSS Machine) propaganda these DC leaders speak.

A Host of Con Artist Actions:

If you missed the glamour and glitz of the duo dead set on helping uphold the D.C. top-down alignment of our education system to a workforce breeding ground, you missed DeVos’s priceless statement that not only is higher education in need of skill-based reform, but our K-12th education is, too.

Look at the featured screen shot (above), notice the President’s full support of this press conference.
Then, look below for another President Trump workforce education supportive tweet:

trumpacostadevos

Of course, a few days before the DeVos/Acosta ‘side show’ and the DeVos/Acosta/Trump photo opportunity (seen above), was the Pence/DeVos meeting (it was closed to the Press) about workforce based education, too.
Watch the DeVos/Acosta/Trumps video:

Below is Vice President Pence’s proud tweet from August 7th about his meeting with DeVos:

pencedevosmeet

Warriors, if this were the first time we’d seen Pence tout workforce aligned education, we might be shocked, but it’s far from his first time. If we’d seen DeVos’s opposition to aligning education to the economic needs, we might be cheering, but that’s not the case at all. As far as our President, he’s not listened to the Moms, Dads, grandparents, teachers, and, taxpayers when we’ve shared how toxic the overreach of labor into education has proven. No, he’s used every opportunity to listen to the G20, the UN, and other connecting organizations about workforce based education. If you missed the President’s June 2017 Press Release about leading the workforce development (aka: workforce education) shift, access that here.

Likewise, Warriors, if this were the first D.C. level administration hell-bent on extending the globally led shift in education which divorces itself from academics to skill-based jobs, we could raise the roof with outrage. But, this ISN’T the first administraion to do so. When Obama/Biden were at the helm of America, we saw Common Core become law. We saw it’s ‘cousin’, Career Tech Ed (which, by the way still exists in the Every Student Succeeds Act, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, STEM Act, Higher Education Act, and every law connected to each of these), become the ‘special project’ assigned to Vice President Biden. Which, he carried out with glee..and some key labor unions.

In fact, Warriors, my fellow blogger, researcher, and anti Fed Ed Warrior, Dr. Young, has given us an article showing how far back the D.C. administrations date to force a shift in education.

Warriors, if you do not see the direct connection from Workforce Development to education, please find that research here. You can find the U.S. Dept. of Education’s document where the WIOA related education shift items are laid out via State Plans to help you make the connections. This document pre-dates the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) passage into law, but ESSA’s language embeds every bit of the shift.
Below, is a screen shot I created for visual impact to stress the true goal of ESSA.

Warriors, think about this, if we, the People, conducted every day business in these  con artist-like ways, we’d be charged with crimes and thrown in jail. Yet, these leaders walk and operate freely…all on our taxpayer dimes.

Stopping the Con Artist Actions:

Warriors, is it REALLY possible to halt these D.C. Con leaders and the related CCSS Machine?! Yes, I believe it is. How? Existing laws which ARE Constitutionally binding. If you missed my fellow writer and anti Fed Ed Warrior, Alex Newman’s article last week, you may not know about the anti ESSA national campaign where just this type of action is being planned! If you read Alex’s article, you’ll see that I was honored to be quoted in it.

To visit the “Child Abuse in the Classroom” website, Alex wrote about:
http://www.childabuseintheclassroom.com/

Warriors, we know our War Vs the Core is hardly about promoting ourselves. Oh no, far from it. Our War is about 1) protecting our students/children, 2) preserving freedom, 3) halting Un-American agendas in education, 4) honoring our Constitution where we’re clearly told the federal government has NO place in education, and 5) giving teachers the opportunity to conduct their profession without corporate driven undermining.

This War is NOT about us: it’s about our Nation, it’s about our future as a free people. It’s about doing what’s right. Something, it appears, our con artist leadership has cast aside.

Join me; join the others who are seeking justice in its true sense for our education system.

Up To Our Ears

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, do you ever get the feeling some folks just don’t like the truth? Sure, truth is not always accepted, especially in the educational reform which has overtaken our everyday lives. Truth isn’t always welcomed, either. Especially when anti Fed Ed conversations reach those delicate issues we do not agree on.

However, Warriors, EACH issue of this educational takeover IS vital! Not one point needs to be called down, made fun of, or, worse, have those on the same side calling each other names.

Every single time we engage in the ‘show me the proof’ tactic instead of respecting we are on the same side (saving our students/citizens from one-way-to-teach-and-learn), we help the CCSS Machine’s progress become a bit more believeable to the rest of the nation.

We’ve been given a earful of news, Warriors..and it has many jumping to some dangerous conclusions.

1) Betsy DeVos’s humdinger of a lie that Common Core is no more.
DANGER! While technically speaking the ‘phrase’ Common Core is not as ‘hot’ as it once was, does NOT mean it is completely dead. The phrase has been replaced with other names. It is a tactic we saw used before ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) became law and it is still being used. The CCSS Machine is replaying a worn out song, here Warriors. Tune the volume down!

2) Is the news the President has signed an Executive Order to have DeVos and her team conduct a 300 day (and taxpayer funded) study as to where and how the federal government has over-stepped in education. DANGER!!

How so?! Wouldn’t this be some of the most welcomed news we Warriors have had in ages?!

Listen Carefully:

While the Order MAY accomplish some good, let’s look at some key evidence from our War Vs the Core:

1) Assume nothing is completely over or corrected as long as federal activities in education are still going on. Rubber stamping and codifying federal overreach into education are the new reality.

2) IF the President and Congress had already heeded our voices, read our credible evidence, we would NOT need a 300 day time period to prove where the gross overreaches are.

3) Were any of the Anti Fed Ed Warriors consulted about the need for a study, especially at our own taxpayer expense? Will any be sought after to help create a truthfully objective Study?

4) Having Betsy DeVos go over her ‘own’ federal cabinet agency is pretty much like putting a fox in charge of the hen house. Look at the disasters of Duncan and King. Are we destined, as Americans, to continue to see a parade of educrats reign supreme?

5) The elephant in the room concerning this Order? The U.S. Constitution’s firm stance that NO federal involvement in education is permissable. So, Order or not, until this basic truth is heard and honored, nothing will change in what is happening concerning education!

6) While all ears were tuned to the Executive Order to rein in DC, look at what followed:  Mr. Trump congratulated the CCSSO (a verified CCSS Machine member group) on their Teacher of the Year program.
(*Note: the TotY is backed by other CCSS Machine member groups.)

From where my research has taken me over the years, this is not a tune any Anti Fed Warrior want to hear. Especially when it followed the ‘hit’ about an investigation into the U.S. Dept. of Education. (*Note: fellow anti Fed Ed Warrior, Shane Vander Hart stated, ” It is certainly a welcome action, but let’s not do a happy dance yet.”)

What We’d Like To Hear:

1) Does the President have the power to make 2017 the year this debacle is righted? Sure he does! Will he use it?! That depends, Warriors. Will President Trump and Congress continue to ‘mute’ us and our truthful information?

2) If we are truly to believe our President wants to end Common Core, he must silence the hypnotic tunes of the CCSS Machine’s rhetoricFrom the Vice President on down the line, too.

3) As many anti Fed Ed Warriors joining in the ‘truthful hits’ via social media, especially the #KeepYourPromise campaign already firmly in place on Twitter. We Warriors MUST keep up the pressure. Music is said to soothe a savage beast, right? There is no bigger, nastier beast than that of the egregious educational reform. If we are to change the tune of education in America, we must influence those in charge. The Twitter campaign has been consistently drawing awareness and hyper focus to our War vs the Core. It is a ‘pitch perfect’ tool we can use. The Study’s to take up to 300 days, why not use that time to ‘pitch’ a helpful, truth filled note?!

4) IF social media’s not your ‘thing’, we need as many parents, grandparents, citizens, and students (of all ages) to keep pressure up with their Congress members AS well as our President! Think of Horton hearing that Who. It took every single resident of Whoville to make noise.

An Idea:
We could save our nation millions! Taxpayer funds for those Studies wouldn’t be needed; Mr. Trump could simply listen to our voices as anti Fed Ed Warriors who’ve proven almost daily that ALL federal intrusion into education from birth to grave is illegal!

Make noise, Warriors! Be heard! This is not a time for silence from the masses.

selective-hearing

Closing:

Warriors, am I hopeful the end of the federal overreach in education is about to become history? That depends.

Will Congress end its ties to the United Nations, especially in adhering to the Sustainable Development Goals, where education is an intended ‘change agent’? Will D.C. honor its own Constitutionally binding parameters? Will the States wake up and reclaim their sovereignty and deny the federal intrusion into education by refusing ALL federal funding? Will ESSA and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) be repealed and re-written to honor the Constitution? Will the HEA (Higher Education Act) be halted in its current re-writing to honor the Constitution?

Will the President acknowledge that EVERY federal level Cabinet agency has its hand in education? Will he stop THOSE Agencies or order investigations into their workforce education plans?

*Personal note: I’ll be on a much needed break for most of next week. Feel free to use the blog’s archives for research you need.

“In Alignment We Trust”

penceprops

Just released yesterday, was this glowing article about how fantastic and ‘for education’ Vice President-elect Pence is. Sure, the IN based media has a right to brag..after all it is one of their own who will be second in command of the entire nation. (article link is below in the ‘school choice’ portion)
Pardon me, if I (along with other Anti CCSS Warriors) are not joining in the celebration.

Let me state, it is not Gov. Pence I am attacking, it is his involvement in education I wish to bring to light. First, the stance on Career Tech Education. Then, the stance on vouchers and school choice.

Career Tech Education: Education/Workforce Alignment For All Ages:

Recently, I’ve shown you how the U.S. House’s Education and Workforce Committee has used Gov. Pence’s words about the glories and praises of CTE (Career Tech Education). Those words were from 2015. With their  mantra, our Congress has been spreading, they are leaving out some very crucial details. (For example, see the ‘featured shot’ above.) To see the  important CCSS Machine information surrounding that featured picture and to learn more about Pence’s speech,
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/11/09/does-it-really-matter/

Warriors, I’ve been sharing with you for years about the toxicity of CTE (Career Tech Education). Why? It is the adult form of Common Core. It is all about workforce education, NOT academic education. It is designed for EVERY educational choice known to mankind due to all the locations it is embedded.

From my research, I’ve shown you how this ‘adult version’ has reversed itself and now traces backwards into K-12 education. It also extends itself into community colleges, apprenticeships, job seeking services, and everywhere in between. Four year colleges, on-line colleges, some private higher education institutions (especially the for-profit trade based schools) ALL have CTE!

Warriors, from my article I’ve linked you to above, you can see how Congress is considering some pretty wide sweeping CTE legislation. That article mentions 2 pieces. However, back in August, I showed you a total of 4! Each are toxic on their own, but it is the LADDER Act which is the MOST damming of all. To learn about the data mining, the job/economy education micromanaging, and lots more: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/18/americas-obsession/

Pence on CTE:

inpencecte
In this undated IN article, the two bills to strengthen CTE in IN were described as ‘sweet music’. The first bill combined P3s (public private partnerships) to create workforce based education. The second bill created ways for all the ‘stakeholders’ to be present at the same time and place. Pence stated CTE would reduce the drop out rate, help IN’s economy, and attract new jobs. He also stated he’d create a new high school curriculum for ‘vocational tech’. Warriors, CTE is the re-brand name for ‘vocational tech’!

To see the entire article: http://techedmagazine.com/node/5298

*Note: While Gov. Pence is on record for creating a new educational curriculum, his biography does not reveal any education experience whatsoever. There’s no education degree, no education resource authorship. Nothing.
To see his biography: http://www.biography.com/people/mike-pence-071416

In July 2016, the New York Times had what you see below in their article about Pence’s stance on education. As you’ll see the added emphasis is mine.

fencepenceAs you can guess the national groups for CTE are pumped Gov. Pence is on board with this part of the CCSS Machine. Here’s an article from the Career Tech Blog:
http://blog.careertech.org/?p=12435

Here’s a screen shot of the Blog. Emphasis is mine.

pencesplit
From Pence’s 2014 Roadmap for Education, the last page detailed how he was set on increasing CTE. On the pages preceding the information, you’ll find his plan for vouchers and low-performing schools.
See: https://www.in.gov/gov/files/Roadmap_2014_Education.pdf

Vouchers, School Choice Stances:

Taken from the first page of Pence’s Roadmap, early education vouchers (emphasis mine):

penceway

Over on the Trump Campaign website, you’ll find a glowing statement made by Pence about Trump’s school choice plans. GOV. PENCE:“A Bold Set Of Policies That Will Increase Accountability And Lead To Better Results For Our Nation’s Children…” ” To see the policies:
https://www.donaldjtrump.com/press-releases/pence-statement-on-trumps-new-school-choice-policies

*Note: I do not know for a fact if either of these elected officials is aware of the dangers in ‘school choice’, ‘education savings accounts’ (vouchers/tax incentives), or re-prioritizing federal funds to create these ‘opportunities’. I do not know if they are aware that all that accountability they seem to believe is available in these options is a fallacy. Why? ESSA and its accountability mandates decrease local control NOT increase it! ESSA and its language neuter school choice completely.
Feeding this rhetoric (regardless of political affiliations) to our nation only accomplishes 3 things:
a) furthers the CCSS Machine grasp on education thereby increasing the P3 overreach
b) renders campaign promises as null and void as to ending CCSS thereby strengthening CTE (CCSS’s extension)
c) sets our nation up to continue its global workforce education streamlined march into a caste America
(*Note: if you’d like to know how I know these 3 points, please refer to my portion of Alice Linahan’s recent article, http://www.voicesempower.com/betsy-devos-being-against-common-core-is-like-saying/)

The IN based article (the very first picture you saw with “In Pence, Trump Finds School Choice Advocate”), you’ll see that Pence is heralded as a champion for not only choice, but vouchers. Read this excerpt, school choice policies that have come to define Indiana’s educational landscape could gain an unprecedented prominence on the federal level.”

Warriors, this should have us all concerned. We DO NOT need more federal level education activity!

Another huge warning should be this quote, “While the administration of President Barack Obama has supported the expansion of charter schools nationwide, educators expect the Trump-Pence administration to provide a bully pulpit for national discussions on school choice.”

To access the entire article:
 http://www.indystar.com/story/news/education/2016/11/26/pence-trump-finds-school-choice-advocate/94338258/

Warriors, we’ve seen the many other Obama administration overreaches into the school systems (ie: data collection, digital assessments which lead to data mining, STEM initiatives, College/Career Readiness initiatives, The American Apprenticeship Initiative (CTE and P3 in one location). We’ve witnessed Vice President Biden join forces with American unions to promote workforce based education on several local, state, and national levels. We are seeing our U.S. Congress create legislation after legislation to continue CTE. We’ve seen our Congress pass, without hesitation, the ESSA which further expands charter schools, incentives (which could be called vouchers or education savings accounts in the future) to States, all the while keeping the workforce based streamlined education embedded for students AND teachers.

Do we really need more of the same? Do we really need a ‘bully pulpit’?

Closing:

It’s important to note that while there is so much true and fact based information as to why school choice is a fallacy, there is just as much fallacy based, misguiding information out there. The CCSS Machine is funding many groups to spread the latter. In fact, they’ve already been at it for a while. How do we know? Look at your State legislation already in place for charter schools. Look at the already passed ‘school choice’ options available.

Then, look at the national groups spearheading BOTH. For example, Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education (I recently wrote and published information about his latest D.C. push for such activities.), EdChoice (formerly the Friedman Foundation) was also featured in the IN news article above. Here’s is an excerpt as to why they re-branded themselves, “Although we will no longer be using their name, we will never lose sight of universal school choice as the intellectual legacy of Milton and Rose D. Friedman. We have been honored to be their legacy foundation during the last 20 years and to be the nation’s only organization solely dedicated to promoting their concept of educational choice. We believe that government has a responsibility to educate the public, but that doesn’t mean writing every child a mandatory prescription for “public school” as it’s been defined over the past 60 years.”
(entire article: https://www.atlasnetwork.org/news/article/friedman-foundation-changes-name-to-focus-on-benefits-of-educational-choice)

In this You Tube video, be sure to note how the Foundation has already been at work ‘training’ policy and law makers to sway the ‘school choice’ illusion. So, Warriors, our War vs the Core will take on a different direction, it seems. Not only fighting for our students, but debunking the myths so permeating the nation.

To What Degree?

Greetings, Warriors Against the Core. We’ve got a new month and the same old problem. With just days before one of the most dividing Presidential races most of us have ever seen, we need to bear in mind that while all eyes appear to focus on D.C., what education B.S. chips are flying in your State or local races?

The featured picture you see above is NO pipe dream. It IS a PIPELINE, however. This comes from a State which THOUGHT they’d said “NO” to Common Core. While that may be true on some levels, the State said “YES” to the OTHER parts of Common Core. I know, old news. Warriors, as has been proven, ALL 50 States, our military outposts, and physical territories of the U.S. ARE ‘lock, stock, and barrel’ hooked into the CCSS Machine.

No election will change this. Not as long as ‘We the People’ allow it. To illustrate the seriousness, look below:

degrees
Is it enough simply to say “I Vote and I’m Against Common Core.”? NO! IF we simply stop there we are no more a child’s champion than those seeking office and who believe Common Core is dead, thanks to the Every Student Succeeds Act!

IF we simply assume a straight party ticket will solve the education demise, we are in for a rude awakening. The CCSS Machine is filled to the brim with ALL political parties: Independent, Unaffiliated, Green, Libertarian, Democrat, and, Republican.

In the past 3 weeks, I shared with you time and time again, how the U.S. House of Representatives is pushing extremely hard to not only further the CCSS Machine’s grasp on workforce based education, they are using a past speech from the Republican VP’s papers as the base for WHY they are willing to lock us into this system.

Sometime in the past 2 years I exposed how our current President also handed off the task of promoting CTE (Career Tech Education) as the ‘be-all-end-all’ for fixing not only education, BUT the job market AND the economy.

Think about this:
IF something were to happen to any President, their Vice President is to take charge. Are we really ready for a continued push for an education which doesn’t produce excellence but rather supports the globally educated ‘learn to earn’ citizen?

What about the State levels? Are they just as bad? I’m not sure about yours, but where I live, the short answer is “Yes”.

From the majority who serve within the State borders, to the majority who represent this place in DC. Ask them about Common Core and you’ll get an answer similar to “I do not support it.” Ask them about Digital Technology programs like 1:1 (One digital device for every one student), you’ll get a hearty “Yes”. Ask them about CTE, CP (Career Pathways), AAI (American Apprenticeship Initiative), JDGs (Job Development Grants), and so on {which are ALL part of the CCSS Machine’s workforce based education reform}; you’ll get a definite “Yes”. Those leaders who are in the minority? Often are discounted, discarded, marginalized, or buried by the CCSS Machine in some way.

How can we support leaders who spew from one side of their mouths, ‘No’ and “Yes” on the other side?! How can they receive our vote of confidence in good faith?

One anti Fed Ed Warrior has stated it something like this, “I’ve no trust for the government now, so why would I allow even more?”

Warriors, every single day that goes by and our students from early ed to higher ed are being indoctrinated right before our eyes, we lose.

So, Ask Yourselves, WWOFFD? (“What Would Our Founding Fathers Do?”):

a) limit government (at every level) so trust cannot be woefully abused

b) refuse to conform to bad leadership, policy, or law ESPECIALLY when it violates the U.S. Constitution

c) revolt when needed (have we become so complacent as to think it’s not needed?)

d) remember that to be an American is an honor, thus voting, is a sacred responsibility

e) no matter who is elected, know that we are to display as much respect and courtesy as we would want to receive, if it were us in office

f) dispel the ‘something for free’ rumor in the nation

g) say what needs to be said and ‘damn the consequences’

My final thought on this topic is simply this….
To what degree does the thermometer need to reach for us to be our student’s/citizens’ champions?

Closing:

Clearly none of the ‘stop-gap laws’ created to date will stop the UN inspired goal in sight. (refer to the picture above with the thermometer)

No knee jerk reaction is going to be effective enough IF it is not part of a carefully planned salvo of precise measurements to render the CCSS Machine null and void. Do we have it within ourselves to be these Warriors? I think we do.

We must pull deep within ourselves to summon OUR character and principles. We must think of ourselves as modern day Founders. Because, in essence WE ARE! machen_meme

Special Edition News

Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors, the last article I wrote for you featured the General Assembly global education group. Connected to them is WhiteBoard Advisors. Today’s article gives you a speedy guide as to how these two and others are gunning to reform education to that of a for-lining-their-pockets-while-breeding-and-branding-more-CBE(Competency Based Education)-especially-in-higher-education.

First off, the May 2016 document from The White Board Advisors (“Education Insiders Report”)
Whiteboard_Insider_May 2016_0

Mentioned in the Report are the WhiteBoard Advisors, General Assembly, the HLC (Higher Learning Commission), EQUIP Experiment, Western Governors University, and HEA (Higher Education Act) priorities.

Below are related, key pieces of evidence for the CCSS Machine involvement:

1) How WhiteBoard Advisors,W/A (as they call themselves) tie to General Assembly (a hybrid CBE based global ed group) and venture capital investment firms bent on reforming education in a toxic, profit making way:

Weekend News: Heads Up, Higher Ed CTE Update

headdown

This Weekend News is an update to the continued Common Core/Career Tech Education/Aligned Apprentices efforts our post secondary students are facing. What can we do to fight this? How can we inform others? Read on, my fighters!!

A White House “Fact Sheet”:

Dated September 9th, 2015, this news release gives us several key pieces to the continued alignment of our students. We know this is part of the ‘cradle to career’ agenda so prevalent in the CCSS Initiative. What is stunning, is that the White House continues to promote these efforts.
WHfactsSo, what are the ‘key pieces’? Here’s my list:
1) “Education and job training are among the surest pathways to the middle class.” (The old school ‘American Dream’ wasn’t middle class, it was MUCH bigger)
2) “President, the First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, and Secretary Arne Duncan will travel across the country in the coming days to highlight the need for affordable, quality career and education choices..” (in my past articles, I have shared how the Vice President was tasked by the President to come up with Workforce/Education ideas)
3) “President will announce new steps to expand apprenticeships and to continue to build momentum nationwide to make community college free for responsible students.” (in past articles, I’ve shared with you how the nation’s community colleges are already CCSS/CTE aligned)
4) Specific agenda items the “Touring Team” will promote:
a) Dept. of Labor grants “Grants to 46 public-private partnerships marrying the efforts of employers, organized labor, non-profits, local governments, and educational institutions to expand high-quality apprenticeships.”
b)  “independent creation of the College Promise Advisory Board, led by Chair Dr. Jill Biden, and Vice-Chair former Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer and directed by former Under Secretary of Education, Martha Kanter.”
c) “Heads Up America will call on everyone to join the movement to make two years of community college free for responsible students around the country.”
d) Those “American Apprenticeship Grants “ will help train and hire more than 34,000 new apprentices in high-growth and high-tech industries as diverse as health care, IT, and advanced manufacturing while scaling up proven programs in construction, transportation, and energy over the next five years.”
e) “Over 140 employers, colleges, and labor organizations have signed on to be ApprenticeshipUSA LEADERS (Leaders of Excellence in Apprenticeship Development, Education and Research) by expanding their own training programs and encouraging their peers to get on board.”

To summarize the rest of the news release, it is basically affirming that the White House is over-stepping its authority again, blaming Congress for not being supportive enough when it comes to WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). It is also revealing the massive amounts of money, the number of citizens to be involved in MORE career pathways for life.

The College Promise Advisory Board:

Helping the efforts of ‘free’ community colleges will be the following:
Walther Bumphus (American Association of Community Colleges) I exposed his ties to CCSS/CTE in my 2 part series: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/05/06/wybi-upskilling-america-part-1/  AND https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/05/07/tech-thursday-upskilling-america-part-2/
Lily Garcia(NEA), Randi Weingarten(AFT), LaVerne Srinivasan (Carnegie Corp.), Ellen Alberding (Joyce Foundation), and Randy Boyd (TN Economic and Community Development). There are many others, but these individuals above are well known CCSS/CTE/CCR supporters. (you can see the entire list by accessing the news release’s link)

Those 46 P3s:

The grants are broken down by regions across the USA. In the Northeast, MA, NY, CT, RI, and VT were the ‘winners’. The bulk of the grants appear to be workforce education, outcome based education, or economic based. Some of the programs include The United Way, various department of labor current activities, and more. In the South, SC, GA, AR, TX, and FL ‘won’ money. Money awarded in these states appears to be ’21st Century Initiative’, ‘compressed education’, economic, and workforce based. Mid-Atlantic ‘winners’ are WV, MD, DC, VA, and PA. Their money will be devoted to all kinds of apprenticeships, including a grant to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters! The Mid-West states getting grants are IL, MI, MN, and WI. Illinois received the bulk of the grants. Among the apprenticeships, workforce, education alignment, you’ll find STEM and MAP+ (MI). In the West, HI, CA, OR, NM, WA, NV, and AK will get the big bucks. It appears the bulk of the money will be for either community wide efforts (including community colleges).

Each grantee will have a specific dollar amount, what organizations will benefit by receiving the money and what purpose the money will serve. All kinds of ethnic groups, special needs, and much more are included. The grant information can be accessed:

“Heads Up”:
This website gives us only two choices 'yes' and 'maybe'.

This website gives us only two choices ‘yes’ and ‘maybe’.

This website is so full of agenda driven motives it isn’t funny. For example in the ‘toolkit’, you’ll find ‘willing to work for it’ defined. Part of the definition? Good grades, credits that will follow you, and a commitment to serve your town. As an example of the ‘service’ TN is featured. “Required community service” there when you get ‘free community college’.
“Heads Up” is being called a nation wide grassroots activity. They’ve got a Twitter account (#HeadsUp) The group is really pushing for everyone to get on board with the program, too. One of the ways is to embed their website or Twitter handle in every communication you have access to. Here’s a quote, “Spread the word through social media and by organizing events on your campus and in your community! Think creatively about ways you can make a lasting impact. Every time you spread the word, use our official hashtag ..Make sure you keep an eye on all @Comm_College, @CCTrustees, @AchieveTheDream, @WhiteHouse and @ScholAmerica social media accounts for the latest campaign updates and progress as well. And spread the good news. Let’s do this!”

Here’s the ‘toolkit’, wait until you open to to see how ‘grassroots’ this really isn’t. HeadsUpAmerica_toolkit

FOM: Trying to Turn the Tide to CCSS

It's Friday, you know what that means! Time to measure what's truth, what's fallacy/fib or what's in between.
It’s Friday, you know what that means! Time to measure what’s truth, what’s fallacy/fib or what’s in between.

Just released from the Common Core Standards laden group, Foundation for Excellence in Education, is a report titled (and this is NO joke) “Turn and Face the Strain”. The report is a true ‘gloom, doom, and we’ll all perish UNLESS we adhere to FEE’s way of aligning education’..This one’s going to be good, so, let’s crank up the Fib-o-Meter, shall we??!!

The Website Address:

You’ll want to download the reports, I’m sure, so here’s the official website for all things Strained, http://excelined.org/FaceTheStrain/

The Truth?! Are You Kidding Me?!

Before we begin the Fib-o-Meter, let’s take a couple of minutes to see the 2 foundations behind this ‘grinding, binding, and trying to frighten us’ report. First up, Foundation for Excellence in Education. If you’ve been following the CCSS saga long, you’ll know that Jeb Bush is responsible for this organization AND is a huge voice FOR Common Core! The other foundation is the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice. According to their website they state school choice is their stance. That stance includes private schools, homeschools, however, look at the graphic they use:

friedchoice

http://www.edchoice.org/School-Choice/What-is-School-Choice

If you haven’t clicked on the picture above to enlarge it, you’ll miss the ‘smoking’ pro CCSS gun: “ESAs”. How do I know this? When you type in “Education Savings Account Common Core” into your general internet search bar, the results are astounding. Credible groups, one after another, have written how this ‘false choice’ is NO choice BUT CCSS. (for example, see these 2 stories:
http://dailysignal.com/2014/12/20/why-even-common-core-supporters-are-changing-their-minds/ OR http://www.educationviews.org/establishment-educators-maintaining-pro-common-core-position/ )

That brief look at the groups behind the report should help you understand the agenda behind the report. Even the title of the report is designed to be incite a fear tactic. I guess they think the CCSS bandwagon is parked outside our doors, ready to swoop us up and carry us away. Sorry, Foundations for CC, not today, you don’t!

Fib-o-Meter, Take One:
One of the first sentences from the Strain that we’ll pull through the Fib-o-Meter is this one,

‘fierce battle looming between the needs of public health care and education’ I have a question for you..did you know we have a fierce battle between the two topics?? I didn’t think we did. I mean we know both are important issues BUT a battle?? This one gets a ‘Total Fallacy’ just for the appeal to fear logic. What IS “Total Truth” about healthcare and education IS that via CCSS they are united. It’s hard to have a fierce battle when you’re on the same team, now isn’t it? Dr. Duke Pesta and Mary Black do an excellent job of tying the two together in the presentation from Freedom Education Project

There are others who’ve written about the co-joining as well. I’ve featuring my stories about the CCSS laden health care reform here. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/09/30/from-the-files-health-care-gets-a-common-core-transfusion/ (titled “Health Care Gets a Common Core Transfusion”) or these 2 about the federal budgets that ties health and education together:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/13/sic-em-saturday-more-fed-budget-watch/ and https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/12/fom-friday-2015-fed-ed-budget/

Fib-o-Meter, Take Two:

Here’s the next sentence the Fib-o-Meter will measure:
‘A crisis is fast approaching that makes comprehensive improvement of America’s public schools more important than ever.’  Yes, another statement that forecasts dire doom for us all IF we don’t reform, reform! “Total Fallacy” for the appeal to fear (again). A related “Total Fallacy” that has been misrepresented AND exposed is the jobs for those graduates who will be caring for an aging population. “Restore the GED Fairness” has at least 2 great articles about HOW we’ve been mislead with those U.S. Dept. of Labor unemployment numbers. (it creates the illusion we’re worse off as a nation than we truly are). Here’s one of the articles,  http://restoregedfairness.org/latest-news/32-common-core-and-the-pearson-vue-ged-an-economic-con-job From their “Latest News” page, this graphic:

http://restoregedfairness.org/latest-news
http://restoregedfairness.org/latest-news

Fib-o-Meter, Take Three:

Census Bureau data..yes, all that data. What’s worthy of the Fib-o-Meter is that this report relies so heavily on data presented as hard evidence for reform, reform and more reform! Think about it. Our last US Census was 2012. Those numbers were hit with tons of controversy over their factual existence. So, suddenly I’m to trust the data from the Census because it was in this report?! (see: http://nypost.com/2013/11/18/census-faked-2012-election-jobs-report/)

So (and I’m guessing here) that by the report using 2010 data in their large printed paragraphs and blurbs to get your attention is to help you feel better about the 2012 data NOT being used. But then, the report says it’s using other years of data to..all to make the ‘facts’ and ‘figures’ add up to their agenda.

On page 17, 2005’s data is introduced. Here’s an excerpt,  “The 2005 Census Interim Projection forecasts an increase in population ages 5-17 of 8.4 million and 11.3 million for ages under 18 between 2010 and 2030. The more recent Census Bureau 2012 National Population Projection forecasts that the country will gain more than 4.6 million residents age 5 to 17 and 5.4 million age under 18 during that same time period.”

The Fib-o-Meter doesn’t take kindly to smoke and mirrors, fact twisting, or the like. The point of the “Fallacy” by the data is simply this: your most recent past figures should be the ones used, not bits and pieces from several years and then continuing to feature only one year as your ‘projection base’ (ie: 2010 figures projected to the year 2030)

Fib-o-Meter’s Fifth Measure:

Read this excerpt: ‘Regardless of which of these projections ultimately proves more accurate, millions more students will be hitting American classrooms. Given the challenges looming with the elderly, it seems safe to say that K-12 education faces huge challenges as well.’

From this point in the report, the rhetoric shifts a bit to the massive amount of state debt we’ll see surrounding education spending. Add to that all the elder care money, and we’re all sailing down the creek without our proverbial paddle. The “Total Truth” of this excerpt is yes, many students will be in American classrooms. Does that mean it has to be the CCSS classroom, though?? NO! Again, more ‘Total Truth’ about Common Core, there are several U.S. Federal Agencies hooked into the Core, the top three: U.S. Dept. of Education; U.S. Dept. of Labor AND the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services!! Of course they findings, reports, and resources all point to the ‘fierce battle’! If these departments can divide us in a false battle, we’ll be easier to be distracted about what’s going on. We must be attentive in our fight against Common Core. Don’t just take one side’s information and assume it stops there!

How do I know the 3 are co-joined? Refer to the 2015 Federal budget articles presented above. If you’ve already read those, here are 2 more from “Prevent Common Core” website, http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1187 (titled “Common Core and the Workforce”) and http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1201 (titled “More Common Core and the Workforce”)

The Report Goes Downhill Still:

As if, by now, you haven’t had enough Fib-o-Meter detecting, I’ll leave the rest of the report for you to dive into. Note though, that it’s from the above points to the conclusion that the mindset you are to glean is one of ‘we must act now’! How do they try to sell it? Minds-are-horrible-to-waste, our-system-is-flat-lined-in-education, our-global-competition-game-needs-some-moxy, we-must-rely-on-the-twisted-NAEP-scale-to-measure-our-schools, and more. “Total Fallacy” enough to keep your Fib-o-Meter churning for hours.

Closing:

As we shut down the Fib-o-Meter for another week, please know that I do understand we have many problems in America that do need serious attention. Education is at the top of the list. Certainly caring for our families is of even more importance than education. At least from my backyard view, it is. However, I cannot understand how aligning all that we do and all of whom we are is the sensible solution. We must remember that CCSS is a violation of our U.S. Constitution! We must realize our federal government has already so grossly abused its power in BOTH healthcare and education that the fierce battle isn’t between education and healthcare, it’s between a country and her people. It’s us against Common Core. The battle IS there, the warriors ARE here, but let’s be frank Foundations who created this report: you didn’t speak the truth about WHERE the battle lies! So, they want to turn the tide to CC, we can turn the tide AGAINST CC!

A strained face you can believe. This "Strained Report", notsomuch.
A strained face you can believe. This “Strained Report”, notsomuch.

RMT Sunday: VP, Common Core and Jobs

Repeatedly, I’ve written about the Workforce plans for the US that are wrapped up with CCSS (Common Core State Standards) laden Career Pathways. So, what would you say if I asked you to believe me when I say, Vice President Biden was given a big job to do by overseeing the workforce plans for America take shape. Would you believe it or would you think it a riddle?

The President:

Yes, VP Biden was given the job earlier this year (2014) by the President himself. Dated 1/30/14 is a Presidential Memo directing the VP, along with others, to put into motion Workforce alignment.  “Job-Driven Reform of Federal Employment and Training Programs. (a) Within 180 days of the date of this memorandum and in coordination with the Office of the Vice President, the National Economic Council, the Domestic Policy Council, the Council of Economic Advisers, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the Office of Management and Budget, the Secretaries of Labor, Commerce, and Education (Secretaries), in consultation with other executive departments and agencies as appropriate, shall develop a specific action plan, to be provided to me through the Vice President, to make the workforce and training system more job-driven, integrated, and effective.” Among one of the ‘concrete steps’, is this:  “ensuring better alignment across secondary, post-secondary, and adult education, and workforce training, including coordinating Federal programs and promoting foundational skill development for employability, on-the-job training, and apprenticeship options..” then:  “encouraging effective regional partnerships among industry, educators, worker representatives, nonprofits, and the workforce system to prepare, support, and train youth, unemployed workers, low-skilled employed adults, and others for career path employment and advancement.”

See the rest of the Presidential memo: http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/01/30/presidential-memorandum-job-driven-training-workers

Note: the 2015 budget that the President has laid out asks for $6 billion for the community college-businesses relationships are continued (ie: public private partnerships).

The Vice President:

See this excerpt, “Q. How does WIOA(Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) align with the Vice President’s review of federal job training programs? A. The Vice President’s review of federal job training programs highlights several key elements that characterize job-driven programs and best practices to make our national training and skills investments more job-driven. WIOA also includes these key elements. The Vice President’s report and WIOA complement one another and both advance the goals of preparing workers for 21st century jobs and ensuring American businesses will have skilled workers to be competitive in our global economy.” I found this in a pdf file from the U.S. Dept. of Labor. The pdf is a ‘Workforce FAQ file’.

His job as directed by the President?  “The vice president’s charge was to work in consultation with the heads of other executive agencies, including the secretaries of labor and education, to develop an action plan with key policy recommendations.” Just some of the policies are a Career Pathways Exchange, online program for states to build their Pathways even stronger; for up to 10 of the states to be selected to broaden Career Pathways in their school districts’ Each of the participating U.S. States (at this time, all states will eventually be involved) must present unified plans from their Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act 2014 integral departments (such as education, labor, etc.).

Back in June 2014, the Vice President was the main speaker at a Third Way Workforce Panel. I’ll include the video, but, first, here are some interesting folks you need to know about.

The Panel assembled was fairly well stacked with not only industry leaders with union connections, but educators who are making headway in helping align their domains with the federal agenda. One Panel member is convinced there’s such a skills gap, he’s written numerous books about it. (If there’s such a skill gap, why are we investing money to write about it, when that investment could go to a better solution?) Another Panel member is from Aspen Institute, which not only is a known CCSS supporter, but according to the President of Third Way, the leader in career pathways strategy for America! While there are many other note worthy members of the Panel which can be tied to STEM, CCSS, it’s the Walla Walla WA Community College that I want to finish this portion with. Why? Because WWCC is consider the pioneering leader in using wage data to target students career paths in education. This Panel’s job is to not only assist the VP, but to help solve the Workforce problem in America.

Points that I’d like to feature for you (in the event you don’t have the hour to watch the video)
“Upskills”; American Job Centers and the Dept. of Labor are the Match.com approach; people who work with their hands (this was repeated several times); the Workforce programs are accredited by the U.S. Dept. of Ed/Labor, known as ‘stackable’, because not only can you punch a ticket to middle class, but to education super highway. (middle class is the highest goal that was repeated by all those who spoke in this video); ‘when middle class is doing well, everyone does well’; ‘middle class not gone, just redefined’; ‘we have respect for intellectual property’; ‘we, as a nation, can change quickly’; citizens of America have never let Her down’; we must reward colleges for outcomes achieved. Main point: Matching skills to jobs, that’s where community colleges, business partnerships enter. “Community college is the single most flexible educational institution out there.” (VP said that)

Video:

Third Way:

If you’re like me, you haven’t heard of this think tank organization. However, that’s about to change. This group says it represents the middle, not the left or right. It tackles some of the biggest issues in America and helps suggest policies. Among their most pride filled accomplishments: helping reduce America’s deficit, helping with climate change issues, and other hot button social conundrums I refuse to mention. However, it’s their take on education you really need to look into. Things like ‘preK is largely for the affluent, so while universal pre-K is one solution, the third one…’pre-K Plus’, BUT only for some. Here’s an excerpt: “As we envision it, pre-K plus doesn’t just mean focusing on enrolling low-income students — it also means ensuring they are being taught the skills they need to be successful in school and in life (not just their ABCs). Learning the alphabet is important, but at least as important to future success are things like executive functions and non-cognitive skills like grit, delaying gratification, controlling impulses, self-regulation, and focusing attention that help both children and adults deal with confusing or unpredictable situations and thrive.” Can we please remember how old kids are in Pre-K?! (op-ed piece is where I got this quote, however, under their ‘education’ tab, you can find the full report complete with a community wide ‘we’ll take care of you’ component not mentioned in the above.) http://www.thirdway.org/op-ed/its-time-to-rethink-education-policy-and-consider-pre-k-plus

Their take on Common Core?! Oh, you’ll ‘love’ this.. “In most states where the standards have not been adopted, the existing standards were substantially similar or equal in rigor, and of the states which have dropped the standards, most are doing so basically in name only. The truth is that Common Core is here to stay.” There is an infographic image that is supposed to give you all the facts, but I didn’t see that is was worth sharing. It’s the same old groupings of this state adopted, this state didn’t, this state pulled out, etc. However, if you’d like to view it:  http://www.thirdway.org/infographic/facts-over-frenzy-common-core-is-more-commonly-accepted-than-you-may-think

As far as Third Way’s ideas on Workforce, again complete services to ‘take care of you’ type thinking. treating education like a business, and embracing community colleges to help all this happen. (I’ll be writing more about this in the upcoming Tech Thursday post, so I’ll save the rest for then)

To fulfill the line Third Way requires accompanying any of their information, I am to have the following credit appear, so please apply this credit to anything you decide to share.
“This material [article] was published by Third Way”

The Media:

Boston Globe, in an October 2014 article had this to say about Third Way: “Third Way, backed by Wall Street titans, corporate money, and congressional allies” Further down, in the article, “Third Way raises just over a third of its $9.3 million annual budget from undisclosed corporations. The remainder, the bulk of its funding, is donated by individuals, almost all of whom are members of Third Way’s board of trustees.” The article does share a direct quote from the President of Third Way and one of the co-founders,“We are centrist Democrats, not centrists,” Cowan said.  Wait, didn’t the website say they were left or right, but in the middle?? Hmmm..word play..by using ‘centrist’ and not ‘central’, I did what most of us would do, see the word as what I thought is was being suggested as, not for what it truly is. Nice, deceiving move, there Third Way.

Not knowing you, my readers personally, I have no idea how you would react to the rest of the information in this article, so I’m sharing the link for you to read on your own. I will tell you, it is quite illuminating.

The NY Times, in December 2013, in an article about think another think tank and its donors included Third Way  in a small bit of press in the article: ‘Sean Gibbons,  a spokesman for Third Way, rejected any suggestion that the group’s work was distorted by the origin of its financing. “No one — not our donors, our political allies or our friends — tells us what to think, write or say,” he said.’ (To see the rest of the article, which is another illuminating read: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/14/us/politics/think-tank-with-ties-to-obama-discloses-corporate-sponsors.html)

Bringing this back to CCSS and Workforce:

Remember the original assignment the President gave the Vice President? Head the Workforce Initiative? Here’s what Mr. Biden’s final report to the President said, “Two days later, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, he( Obama) signed a Presidential Memorandum on Job-Driven Training for Workers, assigning Vice President Biden and the Secretaries of Labor, Commerce, and Education – working closely with the National Economic Council, the Domestic Policy Council, the Council of Economic Advisers, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the Office of Management and Budget….”

Here’s another excerpt pertaining to the foundation for what has happened, “Under the leadership of Vice President Biden, Secretary of Labor Tom Perez, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, the Administration engaged in an intensive review to identify, initiate, and implement actions to make federal employment and training programs and policies more job-driven and effective, consistent with existing statutory authority. ” Here’s something else you’ll need to know, ” constructive engagement of Cabinet Secretaries and leaders of employment, training, education, and workforce development programs in the Departments of Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Justice, Transportation, Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, and Environmental Protection Agency, and from the expertise of the Department of the Treasury, the National Science Foundation, and the Office of Personnel Management.”

Under the ‘stakeholder’ sidebox on page 6, education is the second largest one. Here’s how it is described, “Educational leaders at community colleges, universities, and high school CTE programs” and also, “Workforce and job training partnerships, American Job Centers, community leaders” Note: In case you don’t know or don’t remember, “CTE” is ‘Career Tech Education’ which is short for ‘Common Career Core Technical Education’.

From page 9, “STEPPING STONES
Promote a seamless progression from one educational stepping stone to another, and cross work-based training and education, so individuals’ efforts result in progress. Individuals should have the opportunity to progress in their careers by obtaining new training and credentials. Job-driven training programs should make it easy for individuals to transition from one post-secondary program to another, including Registered Apprenticeship and occupational training programs, and from basic education programs into post-secondary programs.” Here’s a question, all this money, all this effort and career paths are being established right now, as early as in middle school! Then carried on into high school. So, the question is, why is all the information, while open, not open enough to include this?!

We know from past researched links and resulting posts, that career paths begin much too early for our students. Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act will only continue to force this issue into classrooms.

Money buys Workforce Education/Training:

September 2014, $450 million dollars given to boost Workforce Education/Training. Here’s the announcement, http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/09/29/fact-sheet-vice-president-biden-announces-recipients-450-million-job-dri

Part of the funds will be used to increase Career Tech Education both online and in schools. Notice in the below image that by the time the students get to high school, they’re already in the training pipeline.

As part of the video featuring the Vice President, the phrase ‘learning quicker to earn quicker’ or very close to those words were used. Why? In one word, ‘economics’. At the price of our students.
