Anti Fed Ed Warriors, in this, the 6th installment of my series on workforce development (aka workforce education), I wanted to bring you the words and purposes of Congress.
After all, it was the entire Senate which declared Sept. 2019 as Workforce Development month. If you think the House is ‘lily white and pure’ on this issue, think again. The entire House has also backed workforce development embedded in education.
With some local elections happening in the next couple of months, it’s important to know what their federal counterparts are saying. Why? With the federal-to-state funding streams, it’s vital. Most of the time, the local level officials align with the federal officials. It’s not an accident!
So, what does the U.S. Senate HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and, Pensions) Committee think about ‘workforce development’? See for yourselves:
What does the US House of Representatives’ Committee on Education and Labor say?
Their statements are a bit harder to find because the main committee has placed ‘workforce development’ in a sub-committee. However, look at the main committee’s agenda in plain sight:
You can clearly see the subcommittees’ views on their ‘jurisdiction’ in education and labor (Both are unconstitutional as BOTH the U.S. Dept. of Education and U.S. Dept. of Labor are violations of the U.S. Constitution AND federal laws!) There should be ZERO Congressional jurisdiction of EITHER education OR labor!!
(Source, to see the entire page of jurisdictions for both the main committee and all the subs, be sure to visit the site. Emphasis added is mine.)
Warriors, if and when you visit either the Senate’s HELP Committee or the House’s Education and Labor Committee, be sure to look at the bipartisan efforts. Members of all these come from ‘both sides of the aisle’.
We CANNOT and SHOULD NOT blame one party. This ‘global-to-federal-to-state-to-you’ workforce agenda is at the hands and feet of BOTH major parties as well as the minor parties. The wallets of the CCSS Machine have locked this in 100%!
Warriors, on an old episode (Season 2, episode 6) of the “Good Wife” it was stated ‘make truth appear as a lie’. The context was how to hurt someone without reproach.
From my researched view, I’d say that our Congress should all be run out of office.
Why? They’ve made overreaches in education and labor into almost an art form.
We CANNOT and SHOULD NOT continue to give our votes to these officials.

**In my next installment: What about the special interest groups and workforce development in education?
**Fifth in my series on the 116th Congressional Bills
Anti Fed Ed Warriors, imagine, if you will that you are the blue person in the featured picture above. Who are all those people behind you?
Increasingly, we’re finding those ‘people’ behind us are in fact, the federal government.
If the blue person represented our federal government, all the ‘people’ in the back would be the global powers, P3s (public private partnerships), and corporate giants steering the government.
Why would I say that? Based on all the educational research I’ve done, is exactly why.
So far, in this series, detailing the 116th Congress, we’ve seen 4 educratic bills which seem to continue the following us via data rape. If you’ve not seen my chart of why I call the intrusive data collection by ‘data rape’, here it is:
Warriors, I am in NO way trying to water down the horribleness of a physical attack, I am simply trying to point out how BAD the data collection has become.
Based on evidence, it’s only going to get WORSE.
***For the rest of this article we’ll look at two Congressional Bills, one from the House and our first from the Senate. How do these tie to education? Let’s find out.***
Sponsor and Co-Sponsors of HR 260:
(Warriors, from the past. A visual on Medicaid funding in schools.)
I’ll share more of the Medicaid in schools visuals in a bit, but let’s look at HR 260.
HR 260 isn’t just for schools, it’s for everyone. The Bill is 17 pages long. Rep. Frank Pallone (NJ) is the sponsor. There are 2 co-sponsors, Reps. Walden (OR) and Neal (MA).
Pallone’s stance on education is that students need to be ready with 21st Century skills as well as free college for everyone (He voted “Yes” to HR 5, the Student Success Act which went on to be combined with the S117 to become, ESSA: Every Student Succeeds Act). On healthcare, he was one of the main authors of the Affordable Health Care Act, according to his website. (*Note: Walden and Neal voted against HR 5.)
Walden’s Bill, HR 6 (115th Session) not only addressed opioids, but expanded telemedicine and involved Medicaid funds for youth. (*Note: Rep. Neal’s got a current bill (HR 860) we’ll need to watch. It ties to our youth via Social Security and has 202 co-sponsors.)
HR 260, Medicaid Provisions and TANF Extenders Act of 2019:
To read the entire Bill, go here.
*TANF is short for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families and ties into ESSA.
*Medicaid ties to ESSA (as seen above). However, it can be seen here:
Warriors, notice the middle column, Phase II, “Medicaid has now been expanded to include Mental health wrap around services which extend the definition of related services beyond medical care to include emotional disturbances.” Have you noticed the increased amount of (Social Emotional Learning)SEL in schools?
So what is the purpose of HR 260? “To extend the Medicaid Money Follows the Person Rebalancing demonstration, to extend protection for Medicaid recipients of home and community-based services against spousal impoverishment, to extend the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, and for other purposes.”
Back in 2017, I showed you this about TANF and ESSA:
MFP (Money Follow the Person) can be tied to the ACA (Affordable Care Act). **HR 260 will extend grants only to States (43 & the District of Columbia) which have an existing MFP plan. If your State is found to be non-compliant with their MFP Plan, federal funds will disappear (Page 6). On Page 7, you’ll find the federal PAYGO (pay-as-you-go) ties. On Pages 9 & 10, TANF grants for those with healthy marriages, responsible fathers, Native Americans, and childcare. Beginning on page 10, data tracking and ‘outcome measurements’ for job placement/employment are described. Finally, beginning on page 14, the national data standards streamlining shows up. I just wrote about HR 150 and HR 50 in relation to creating national data standards.
Warriors, are you noticing this is eerily like ESSA and the State’s Plans? Also, think about the massive power increase ESSAgave the U.S. Dept. of HHS (Health and Human Services). Much of it is to go to those ‘community wide services’. How does THAT impact education? Two ways: a) school are the hubs and b) schools can access the Medicaid funding. Those hubs have a name, 21st Century Community Learning Centers. The hubs are supported by PNs (Promise Neighborhoods). Both of these WERE White House Initiatives, but became codified via ESSA.
Meet the MOMS Bill:
Warriors, this is the first Senate Bill from the 116th I’ve looked at. As far as education goes, there’s one big way in which S116 will intersect: behavioral health and mental health. Massive data tracking (called surveillance in this Bill) are also part on the ‘package’.
MOMS stands for ‘‘Modernizing Obstetric Medicine Standards Act of 2019″ It’s currently in the Senate HELP Committee.
1) Nationally driven data collection to ensure optimum outcomes for mothers. (Does anyone remember Sen. Alexander’s chilling quote about one day going into hospitals and grabbing not only the babies, but the mothers, as well?) 2) Best practices and multi-state interventions, especially for low-income families.
Again, the biggest intersection to education? SEL (social emotional learning). How? Young mothers aka: teen mothers.
3) Contracts for State based collaborative teams (known as ‘maternal safety bundles’) will be enforced and encouraged. (Really, must it sound so devoid of all feeling?)
4) Grants for maternity and morbidity prevention. All focus of the MOMS Bill is on the care and results of the mother. (How will this Bill, should it become law, gel with the recent States passing controversial laws related?) 5) This Bill also ties to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), if you missed it, I’ve already exposed how this federal government entity is in partnership with major SEL players, not only in education, but entire communities.
6) Price tag? Forty million dollars for EACH fiscal year between 2020 and 2024.
**Knowing ESSA used Medicaid funding to turn schools into quasi-hospitals (see the wheel above), how would a law like this also otherwise impact education?
Finally, look at who has sponsored or co-sponsored this Bill and then factor in recent events as well as present presidential kick-off campaigns:
Sen. Gillibrand (NY) (See the screen shot above)
Her views on education are included here.
Sen. Booker(NJ) (See the screen shot above)
His views on supporting ESSA can be accessed in 2 places.
Sen. Harris (CA) (See the screen shot above)
Her ties to education, are all here.
**How will the data tracking and SEL of S 116 overlap into Sex Education or Health Education?***
Warriors, if ever we needed an example of the wickedness of Congress overreaching not only into education, but our families, these two Bills should be a massive wake up call!
Don’t forget, the CCSS Machine has already claimed it can help marriages, why not birthing babies and micromanaging rural and low-income citizens?!
In my next article of this series, HR 280 will have us look at sports teams and national data collection. How will THAT impact education?
Anti Fed Ed Warriors, if I’ve shared it once, I’ve shared it repeatedly; Rep. Virginia Foxx is a sellout. Her view of education is no secret. She’s traveling the D.C. area with her skewed preaching about how great CTE (Career Tech Education) is. Problem is CTEISCommon Core, or as it’s been re-branded, College/Career Readiness (CCR).
While Rep. Foxx does ‘represent’ the citizens of NC (in name only), her power as Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Ed/Workforce Committee means her influence is nation-wide.
If you’ve missed her more recent CCSS/CTE(Common Core State Standards/Career Tech Education)appearances touting what a ‘savior’ the PROSPER Act will be for America, or how closing the ‘skills gap’ is everyone’s business, I urge you to listen.
(*Note:1) if you click on the ‘closing’ link, you can access her brief statement from Twitter. 2) PROSPER is the House’s version of an updated Higher Education Act (HEA). HEA’s re-authorization will complete the birth to death workforce based education system the CCSS Machine has set out to create. 3) Be sure to listen for Foxx’s bold statement that all education is career education so therefore all education is workforce development.)
This screen shot (below) is from her opening statement during a recent hearing in D.C.:
Warriors, Rep. Foxx is hardly alone in the selling out of education to workforce in D.C.
As we’ve seen from Congress many times over, when it comes to education, they’re ALL blinded by the CCSS Machine! Consider Foxx’s ‘blinded’ partner over in the Senate, Sen. Lamar Alexander. He leads the U.S. Senate’s HELP(Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Committee).
His power in D.C. is ‘legendary’ in how quickly he’s thrown our children under the CCSS Machine’s wheels. The HELP’s most recent action? It was sharing that a new amendment for the existing HEA has been introduced. S 2984 was introduced, read twice and referred to the HELP committee 5/24/18.
That Foxx and Alexander are in such high places of leadership should be cause for every single one of us to watch both the Committees (Ed/Workforce and HELP).
Warriors, look also at every single member of these 2 Committees. Where are they in the CCSS Machine’s pecking order? How sold out to CTE are they? What about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)? We mustn’t forget that the ‘Fed Ed’ overreach is in EVERY level of education, so what about the early college programs? The internships or apprenticeships? The rehabilitated education/work programs? What about allowing MORE Private companies and corporations into the education reform?
May 9th’s hearing from the Ed/Workforce Committee did just that!
(*Note: you can also watch the hearing. It’s just over 2 hours.)
We also should keep in mind that education is NOT the only avenue the CCSS Machine will ‘drive’ down. There’s Labor, Health/Human Services, Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, and more! Blindness is rampant in D.C.!
If You Missed Mrs. DeVos:
Warriors, if you missed U.S. Secretary of Education’s DeVos and her ‘testimony’ before the Ed/Workforce Committee last week, you missed a great opportunity to see a CCSS/CTE Machine dog and pony show. Here’s the video, but be warned it’s over 4 hours long according to the You Tube description.
Below are a few of DeVos’s excerpts from her prepared testimony.
“I must begin by commending you, Dr. Foxx, for your leadership on moving to reauthorize and reform the Higher Education Act (HEA) through the PROSPER Act. This is an issue where we share great passion to help American education catch up to the needs of today’s – and tomorrow’s – students. Unfortunately, in too many ways, the outdated HEA is holding our students – and by extension, our nation – back. The Administration is pleased the bill aligns with many of its own goals for HEA reauthorization. I look forward to working with each of the Members of this Committee, the broader House of Representatives and the Senate to advance meaningful HEA reform, and I know the president looks forward to signing a bill into law.”
Under the paragraph “Progress Made”:
“In 2015, you wisely passed legislation – the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) – that
intends to do just that. ESSA’s overwhelming bipartisan message was clear: States and
local communities, not the Federal Government, must lead the way on improving
education for every student in America.”
From “FSA Next Gen’s” paragraph:
“Perhaps no effort has a greater potential to positively impact postsecondary students
directly than reforms being undertaken at Federal Student Aid (FSA). The Next Generation Financial Services Environment will be the most significant improvement to administering student aid in two decades.
From the “Where We Are Going” section:
” We must make bold, fearless changes that allow all students to pursue an education that meets their unique needs. Students deserve learning environments that are agile, relevant, exciting. Every student deserves a customized, self-paced, and challenging life-long learning journey. That is why I challenge the Department and every teacher, school, parent, and leader in America to rethink school.”
Her possible solutions? Look below:
Warriors, talk about blinded leaders, are you kidding me, Secretary DeVos?!
******************************************************** A “New Approach”:
Never one to disappear from the news, Jeb Bush’s group (FEE, Foundation for Excellence in Education/aka Excel in Ed) and their partner (Education Elements) are blindly leading the whole CCR (College/Career Readiness) agenda from a ‘new angle’, get the parents to buy into the ‘skills gap needs closing’fallacy.
As we know, CCR is a re-brand for CCSS. It also embeds CTE and STEM in education.
Here’s how Education Elements feels about learning:
Warriors, did you notice how the ties between Foxx/DeVos/Bush and the rest of the evidence presented all echo the same ideas? It is not by chance this has happened. As we know the plan (for well over 100 years) has been to assimilate America into a more global form. Education has long been the ‘best’ tool by which to do it. The reform was never simply for K-12th grade students. It has always been about ‘cradle to grave’. The reality of HOW our lives will become IF we do not stop the CCSS Machine can be seen here. Notice, it’s a loop. Like a hamster’s wheel. Once on it, we won’t get off. This is what the REAL meaning of ‘lifelong learning’ is, Warriors.
Re-authorizing HEA via the PROSPER Act or the Senate’s HEIA (Higher Education Innovation Act)WILL complete the CCSS Machine loop. Will we stand by and allow this? Will we march forward and throw kinks into the CCSS Machine?
Warriors, will we continue to follow these blinded leaders?! Will we allow our kids to be subjected to this type of treatment? Will we prostrate ourselves to this system? Will we let Congress continue to bully us into conformity?
Warriors, it’s time WE lead with open eyes and steadfast purpose!
This is an urgent call to the Anti Fed Ed Warriors out there. While the chatter heads are going on about the reasons why or why not it’s a good thing the U.S. Government is ‘shut down’, one thing’s for certain. As far as the educational overreach, it’s ‘game on, as usual’.
To what am I referring? S 615 (the U.S. Senate’s latest attempt to re-authorize and/or to amend the 1965 HEA, Higher Education Act). S 615 is being sponsored by the CO Senator, Michael Bennet. The Bill also has Sen. Marco Rubio’s (FL) backing.
The Urgent Call:
Warriors, I’m calling your attention to S 615 as it’s the 2nd Senate HELP hearing for the Higher Education Innovation Act. Itis scheduled to go on as planned for Jan. 25th, 2018, according those answering the phones at Congress right now. That’s the day after tomorrow! Appearing as witnesses: Dr. Joe May (TX), Dr. Deborah Bushway (MN), Mrs. Donna Linderman (NY), Mr. Michael Larsson (MA), and, Dr. Barbara Brittingham (MA). This hearing begins at 10 AM (EST). It will be archived.
So, what’s S 615’s name? The Higher Education Innovation Act!! (*Congress is stuck on a pattern, Warriors. Look at some of the recent legislation turned laws. WIOA, for instance: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; the ESSA’s copious amount of language devoted to ‘innovating’ education.
January 25th is the same day Senate HELP will nominate a new Assistant Education Secretary* (Frank Brogan) for K-12th grades. This hearing begins at 2:30 PM (EST) and will be archived as well. (*Note: the highlighted links for both hearings will take you directly to the U.S. Senate HELP website. You’ll need to refresh the link for the ‘live feed’.)
*Brogan is a close buddy of Jeb Bush’s, at least according to the Tampa Bay Times. As we know, Warriors, Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education is the ‘chief fallacy maker’ behind “National School Choice Week”. So, if we’re wondering about Pres. Trump’s commitment to end Common Core, we really should be protesting this nomination in double time.
If you, like me, missed the first hearing on S 615 (held 1/18/18), you can find the archive here. This hearing discussed the supposed transparency associated with student debt and how Americans will be able to afford higher education. You’ll also want to access the Senate HELP Chairman’s 1/18/18 press release. You’ll see that according to Sen. Alexander (who does acknowledge federal education presence, but doesn’t apologize for it), that the background for S 615 is actually 4 and 1/2 years old and has had a whopping 18 bi-partisan meetings. As usual, Warriors, we’ve not heard of ANY of these meetings, nor been invited as serious ‘stakeholders’ to the table.
In the 1st archived hearing, no doubt you’ll hear lots about the need for data mining/tracking to be part of the ‘simplification’. You’ll also be ‘treated’ to lots of FASFA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) rhetoric, too.
As other anti CCSS Warriors have shown us, the FAFSA has become a weapon against our students. FAFSA, also can be tied to a data breach, as well as the SETRA and FERPA legislation which Congress appears to be hell-bent on for a national data base. This type of data base would have Americans in schools, or not, tracked like never before. (SETRA and FERPA stand for Strengthening Education Through Research Act and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.)
Warriors, if you’ve followed me long on this blog, or heard me speak out numerous times, you know I’ve been warning you for quite a while about the HEA being the last link in the chain of total birth to adult CCSS (Common Core State Standards) alignment. You also know that there are several others who have been just as diligent in warning our nation.
You may also know I’ve been able to prove how the current form of HEA is embedded in the K-12th grade law. It’s mainly embedded by Career Tech Education (CTE). Why? Simply put, the 2014 passage of WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) used CTE as the adult version of CCSS in order to tie jobs to education.
For more context about HEA and ‘innovation’, let me point you to at least 2 reasons WHYCongress is uniting itself with the CCSS Machine:
10/6 What’s “10/6”? The ’10’ refers to the Agenda Points the U.S. Dept. of Education has had in place for some time. The ‘6’ refers to the Agenda Points the U.S. Dept. of Labor has had in place for some time.
Much like ESSA, HEA’s re-authorization will continue the ‘worker’ mindset, not the academic mindset to needed to be a great and free nation!
10/6 was woven into WIOA, then ESSA. It was woven into the current HEA version (2008) and will be woven into the newer version of the HEA.
How? By CCSS/CTE/STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math)/CCR (College and Career Readiness); or as ESSA called it, “Challenging State Academic Standards” are precisely where 10/6 intersect in each existing law concerning ‘education’ from a federal level. The intersection even has a name, “Career Pathways”. Warriors, on Page 14 of S 615, the intersection of all this is visible:
Like the big blue picture above, Congress is working overtime to try to convince Americans that ‘innovation’ will solve ALL our educational woes. What they miss consistently is how MUCH‘innovation’ is HARMING our students of all ages!
For your further contextual base, my most recent previously published HEA articles:
a) CBE(competency based education) is also woven throughout WIOA, ESSA, and, HEA. This will lay out how it’s a pattern set forth by the UN (United Nations).
b) Congress’s sense about education is definitely NOT academic-minded. This look from mid 2017 will lay out a plethora of workforce-based-education-career-tracks Bills.
c) This June 2017 article of mine traces the vast amount of UN-directed data tracking higher education (as also seen in Pre-K to 12th grades) has in place already.
Lastly, the House of Representatives passed its version of HEA on 12/13/17. It’s called the PROSPER Act. It too, is a trap.
Hey, Warriors Against the Core! By now you’ve probably heard that the U.S. Senate HELP Committee has postponed the vote on Betsy DeVos until 1/31/17. As you know, Mrs. DeVos was tagged to be the next U.S. Secretary of Education. Since that announcement, much evidence has surfaced exposing her ties to the CCSS Machine. This proves IF she is to receive the ‘yes’ votes to become ‘education czar’, we’re all in trouble.
Since the evidence has surfaced, many groups, from ultra conservative to ultra liberal, have agreed on one thing: Betsy DeVos is a terrible candidate for the leadership of education. What all these groups don’t agree on is who is a qualified candidate. Those groups with ties to the CCSS Machine, are suggesting the President choose people with education experience which resembles more educratic nonsense than true academics. Those groups without ties to the CCSS Machine have suggested some true educators, but, because of their political standings, may be brushed aside. This is a terrible “catch 22” for our nation.
So, what’s anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warrior to do?! I believe we need to split this situation into manageable portions. 1) Continued pressure directed to the U.S. Senate HELP committee toNOT vote ‘yes’ on DeVos’ confirmation. 2) Voice our support for those with BOTH the qualifications AND the firm stance it takes to be worthy of such a leadership role.
Those with a firm stance should know that the CCSS Machine is NOT the best education partner and divorce the entire Dept. of Ed from it. A firm stance also means working well with others and not sweeping the citizens under the rug. A firm stance means the Dept. of Ed leadership should recommend to the President to totally repeal ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). A firm stance also means the next Secretary should recognize that the existence of the Dept. of Ed is an unconstitutional entity and begin the process of shutting it down. From the ties of finances and seats of power Mrs. DeVos has held thus far, do not speak of this kind of strength.
While the goal #2 is huge, the first goal (continued pressure directed to the Senate HELP) isn’t. In fact, the remainder of this article will be focused on HOW we can direct pressure.
Let The ‘Blasting’ Begin:
This Thursday, 1/26/17, from 1 pm to 6pm, EST, join my co-hosts and I as we use Twitter to ‘blast’ the Senate HELP Committee. If you follow me on Facebook (my Common Core Diva page or the U.S. Parent Call to Action page), you hopefully saw the event announced late yesterday (1/23/17). If you didn’t see it, no problem, you can find the information here.
Here’s what I posted describing the event. “Join the Common Core Diva and other concerned Americans about the DeVos confirmation as U.S. Secretary of Education. Let’s use Twitter to ‘blast’ the U.S. Senate HELP Committee members. Use the #DumpDeVos #ConflictsofInterestMatter #RepealESSA #StopESSA and #SenateHELP ”
Here’s how the Twitter Blast is to work (also posted on Facebook): “1) Log on to your Twitter acct (if you have one. If not, it’s quick, easy, and free to join) 1a) Our goals in blasting the Senate HELP are getting those who have received DeVos campaign donations to recuse themselves from voting(look for the asterisk or star); getting as many HELP members to deny DeVos as U.S. Secretary of Education as possible and get a true anti Common Core/federally led education, experienced leader like Dr. Peg Luksik, Dr. Pat Huff, Dr. Everett Piper, or Dr. Duke Pesta. Those supporting more federally led/CCSS Machine education are suggesting Michelle Rhee, Linda Darling-Hammond, and others who would not truly represent we, the parents.
2) Access my Twitter page (@CommoncoreDiva), or, if you already follow me, look for the tweets going out. (Remember, only 140 characters per tweet.)
3) Tweet and or re-tweet the jpgs/screen shots you like to the following (please remember to be respectful while being firm). If you choose to use your own images, please keep them appropriate for general audiences. Also, DO NOT attack the person. We are simply raising awareness to our disagreement over Mrs. DeVos, nothing else. The strategy is to open eyes to the truth, not burn bridges. : a) #DumpDeVos b) #SenateHELP c) @SenateHELP d) #ConflictsofInterestMatter e) #RepealESSA f) #StopESSA OR any other ‘anti DeVos’ hash tag you choose

Below are some sample tweets and images you’ll be seeing during the ‘blast’:
“@SenateHELP #DumpDeVos Betsy says implant ESSA as is. ESSA mandates almost $900 mil 4 more tech 2 data track/mine/sell 2 anyone in/out of edu.”
“#DumpDeVos #RepealESSA If ESSA implanted ‘as is’, ties WIOA/HEA over 160 times in fine print mandates 4 ALL students. Where ‘choice’ in that? Vote NO, #Senate HELP”
“#ConflictsofInterestMatter #DumpDeVos @SenateHELP Recuse if u got DeVos $$! Can’t b objective when pockets lined.Break crony capital edu.”
“#StopESSA #SenateHELP #DumpDeVos ESSA mandates what taught/how learned (no choice) 4 workforce agenda/whole community assessments/family interventions. Profit win/edu lose.”
Warriors, it’s important to note that while Twitter is a social media outlet, it does help our cause of registering public dissent. Public dissent SHOULD be enough to force our elected leaders to see the truth. Does it always work? Not always, however, in the past, our Warrior voices HAVE made a difference.
That said, join us, this Thursday, and let’s shake up D.C. as only we anti Fed Ed Warriors can do!!
Remember, you are welcome to upload your own images and messages. Just base them on facts, keep under 140 characters, and know you ARE making a difference! Thank you for standing with me.
Warriors, late yesterday, America was witness to one of the worst performances of a ‘reality show’ I think we’ve ever seen.
What am I referring to? The ‘reality show’ was the DeVos Hearing‘produced’ by the U.S. Senate HELP Committee. Almost completely ‘directed’ under the leadership of Sen. Lamar Alexander. Rather than seeing ‘contestants’ voted off one by one, we saw how Alexander manipulated the clock.
I’m not about to recap the entire debacle, there is plenty of evidence out there. There are also several anti Fed Ed Warrior reactions already published, too. Most of the anti Fed Ed Warrior articles I’ve seen have suggested we spare ourselves watching the ‘reality show’.
So, instead, let’s look at Mrs. DeVos’ ‘script’ for Hearing.
Lesson #1: Knowing your stance is an absolute requirement in leadership. “I am honored that President-elect Trump asked me to join his team and am grateful for his dedication to education. If confirmed, I look forward to working with him, Vice President-elect Pence and all of you to bring educational opportunity to every family in this great nation.”
Why this is a lesson. First off, when contacted by concerned citizens and leaders from across America, President-elect Trump shut them down and ignored their voices. In spite of credible fact based evidence as to why DeVos was a horrid choice, Trump was unrelenting. As far as his knowledge on education in America? Go back and look at his campaign.
Secondly, Trump has set Americans up to continueESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)/WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act)/HEA (Higher Education Act*) aligned education! Sure he said he’d rid the land of ‘Common Core’, but when you factor in his Vice Presidential choice (Pence) is one of the American ‘champions’ for Career Tech Education (CTE), otherwise known as ‘adult Common Core’ and geared for 100% workforce based education, Trump gave us a HUGE clue as to the agenda’s grinding on; not stopping, like he promised! Like most politicians in D.C., Trump appears to be fairly clueless when it comes to how far reaching the Common Core reform is. (*HEA of 2008 is currently up for rewriting. At the helm? Sen. Lamar Alexander.)
Lesson #2: Correctly identifying your groups is a sign of a great leader. “The schools in which they (teachers) work are as diverse as the students they educate. In fact, all of us here – and our children – have attended a mix of traditional publicly-funded and private schools. This is a reflection of the diversity that is today’s American public education.”
Why this is a lesson: If you’re going to make the statement that we are diverse in education, don’t lump those differences into one group, specifically, ‘American public education’! The better statement would be to honor all that diversity with ‘reflecting this is today’s American education.’
Lesson #3: Parental choice is from the heart. Establishment’s choice is ‘no choice’. “I share President-elect Trump’s view that it’s time to shift the debate from what the system thinks is best for kids to what moms and dads want, expect and deserve.Parents no longer believe that a one-size-fits-all model of learning meets the needs of every child, and they know other options exist, whether magnet, virtual, charter, home, religious, or any combination thereof.” Before I get to the point we need to recognize, DeVos does go on to state that too many are denied ‘true choice’ in these options.
Why this is a lesson: First off, I don’t know any parent who isn’t getting the opportunity to be their BEST child’s advocate when it comes to choosing education. We either do it or we don’t. It’s really that simple. However, I do see many CCSS Machine members and educrats telling US we NEED‘choice’and that our tax dollars will pay for it all, too!
Secondly, ANYTIME your tax dollars are dangled in front of you as a ‘opportunity’, those holding your tax dollars will have control of those opportunities in the long run. The ‘choice’ is a false positive. It’s happened repeatedly down through history. Warriors, our system hasn’t changed in this aspect and it WON’T!
Lesson #4: ESSA and all its connected federal laws aren’t going away. “Every parent in America dreams of a future when their children have access to schools with the rigor, challenges, and safe environments that successfully prepare them for a brighter, more hopeful tomorrow. And every teacher in America dreams of breaking free from standardization, so that they can deploy their unique creativity and innovate with their students. Our nation’s schools are filled with talented, devoted professionals, who successfully meet the needs of many, many children.”
Why this is a lesson: Look at the ESSA code words (which are also code words for Common Core; College and Career Readiness; Career Tech Education): “rigor”; “standardization”; and, “professional development”. Every one of these is embedded in ESSA! If they are not a direct mandate, they are part of the ‘accountability measures’ each State will have to perform to satisfy the Secretary of EducationAND to receive federal funding.
Lesson #5: If you’ve heard one educratic leader, you’ve heard them all. “For starters, we need to embrace new pathways of learning. For too long a college degree has been pushed as the only avenue for a better life. The old and expensive brick-mortar-and-ivy model is not the only one that will lead to a prosperous future. Craftsmanship is not a fallback – but a noble pursuit. Students should make informed choices about what type of education they want to pursue post high school and have access to high quality options. President-elect Trump and I agree we need to support all post-secondary avenues, including trade and vocational schools, and community colleges. Of course, on every one of these issues, Congress will play a vital role.”
Why this is a lesson: We’ve heard these words spoken by so many preceding DeVos, we can spot the load of educratic B.S.a mile away! I guess we are to be impressed that these words are now being spewed by a mom and a grandma as opposed to the Duncan/King duo of educrats. Trouble is students are NOT making THEIR own decisions about their futures after high school when a requirement of graduation is the skill based assessments used to determine not only your future AFTER high school BUT what courses you must take to get there!
If you aren’t in an educational choice where this happens at the moment, thanks to ESSA, you will be seeing it soon. Why? Because ALL education/teaching MUST be conformed to post-secondary readiness AND its assessments! Currently, those is non public education get these skill based assessments in the post-secondary institutions, especially community colleges. Thanks to WIOA and HEA, ALL educational choices beyond high school age, are already 100% aligned to the adult Common Core/College and Career Readiness. So, what the DeVos/Trump/Pence trio is telling us is that they will continue this shift!
Lesson #6: Status Quo education? Yes, please! “We will work together to ensure the Every Student Succeeds Act is implemented as Congress intended — with local communities freed from burdensome regulations from Washington. And I look forward to working with Congress and all stakeholders to reauthorize the Higher Education Act to meet the needs of today’s college students.”
Why this is a lesson:DeVos makes a great Alexander puppet, don’t you think? Sen. Alexander has uttered those exact words (ensuring ESSA implemented as written/passed) on several occasions. Optional delivery make find him pounding his fists on a podium for effective bullying, however. If we’ve heard these words before, we have a big clue as to what to prepare for, don’t we? ESSA has been proven to lie about the State control being restored, among other points of importance. Does D.C. assume we, as Warriors, are too inept to notice all the recycled speeches?!
Words of Waring, Warriors! No matter who is the Secretary of Education, they oversee ALL educational groups: birth to Kindergarten; 1st grade through 12th grade; and, post-secondary institutions. If you’re educational choice isn’t directly under the thumb of this leader, you’re being kept tabs on (data collection).
The Secretary also directly works with the U.S. Dept. of Labor for the streamlined workforce based education. The Secretary also works with the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services for the streamlined social justice agenda shift in education.
No matter who becomes the Secretary of Education, knowing all the Common Core/Career Tech Bills currently in Congress, if passed, will be terrible for education in America! Especially the LADDER Act. Basically it creates a new Executive branch, independent Council (of which the U.S. Secretary of Ed (or their appointee) will have a seat on this Council! The Council’s purpose? ANational Workforce/Education Plan!
It’s a new work week, but the same ole rhetoric from D.C. when it comes to the federal role in education.
Late last week, Rep. Kline of the U.S. House of Representatives’s Education and Workforce Committee, released a statement of his disdain for the U.S. Department of Education’s ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) overreach into teacher preparation for today’s K-12 classrooms. Below is a screen shot. The statement came to my email account.
Sorry, Representative Kline, I disagree with your ‘disdain’. Why? It’s as fake as a $3.00 bill! Quite frankly, the posturing needs to be saved for Broadway, not Washington D.C.’s government chambers and levied on the people as gospel.
Why would I call the Chairman of the Committee’s words false? The research proves it.
For starters IF the Representative had READ the ESSA as thoroughly as he should of BEFORE he voted on it, he would KNOW that the teacher preparation and alignment to the CCSS Machine was ALREADY written in BEFORE Dr. King was confirmed.
Then there the fact he is bosom buddies with Sen. Lamar Alexander!
Add to that that the ENTIREEd/Workforce Committee is doing EVERYTHING it can to INCREASECTE (Career Tech Education, the adult form of K-12’s Common Core/College and Career Readiness)! IF Rep. Kline, again, had read the ESSA as thoroughly as we Warriors did, he’d know that the plan ALL along was to INCREASE the College/Career Readiness via the CTE and Career Pathways. But wait, maybe he DID know and has been playing us all along?!
No matter which, his statement points to using the HEA (Higher Education Act) to FIX the overreach into teacher preparation for leading K-12. Duh?!
What have I been researching and sharing about this all along?! HEA is the LAST link in the cradle to grave education for workers ‘bridge’.
Of COURSE teachers are to be aligned! ESSA states it VERY plainly. So, crying ‘FOUL’ over what Dr. King’s doing is a typical CCSS Machine fallacy-filled move! The biggest fallacy (which has been successfully used repeatedly by the CCSS Machine) is the ‘bandwagon fallacy’. I absolutely love fallacies and logic study. I led several classes for this a few years back. From my favorite logic study authors, the Bluedorn Brothers(“Fallacy Detectives”), here’s a simple example for ‘bandwagon’, “Clyde: “Dad, can I go to see the movie “Attack of the Killer Wombats?” Dad: “No, son, you can’t go. I heard that movie has bad things in it.” Clyde: “Awe, come on, everybody’s going to see it.” ” Below, you’ll see a bit more in-depth example.
Now, I don’t go off on this side bar for nothing. Many of us know that the ‘bandwagon’ has been a major hit in times past. My point however, is this, if we REALLY know how it’s being used against us, we gain another way to strike back!!
In our War vs. the Core, this is vital! Especially with all the policy making going on while Congress is at home. Oh, come on, you don’t think they are SO focused on the elections, they’d let an opportunity to create MOREP3 (public private partnership) opportunities collect dust until AFTER the elections, did you? I haven’t! Here’s why. When ESSA was passed into law, Sen. Alexander declared the HEA was next. Before Rep. Kline left for the Fall break a few weeks ago, he stated that his buddy, Alexander would take care of education when he got back to D.C. after the elections.
Warriors, they are all but baiting us with moves like this. I also think it’s wise to remember that the 2017 Fed Ed Budget (at least while they were still requests) had plenty of evidence about the teacher alignment (aka: professional development). I shared with you then all the CCSS Machine members who were going to be conducting all this development, too.
Resources: In a previous article, I shared with you the word play that was going on surrounding the HEA. Here’s an excerpt of why it’s re-authorization should very much be on our radar for action items after the elections, “ The latest re-authorization of the HEA was back in 2008. 1) The first item of business(after the Title description) in the HEA Extension is NOT the Perkins money. (That is, in fact, the second item of business.) The National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) and its Extension. What does the NACIQI do? Per the 2008 version of the HEA, this group follows the recommendations of the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary in both accreditation and requirements for higher educational institutions to meet and uphold in order to receive funding. If you want to learn more about their powers, see: http://www2.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/naciqi.html ”
To read the article about BOTH Alexander and Kline beginning work on the update for HEA in 2015: http://www.capitalthinkingblog.com/2015/07/house-and-senate-begin-scheduling-for-esea-conference-process-hea-expected-to-begin-in-september/
As far as Rep. Kline’s supposed distress about the overreach of the U.S. Education, consider this article where I show you the well known groups using the language of ESSA’s mandates to set our school leaders up for alignment. While Kline is not mentioned, his good buddy Alexander sure is. Surely, though Kline knew earlier about some of these shifts. Look at the content between work and education! https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/03/28/principled-leadership-in-the-essa-era/
If we are to believe Rep. Kline’s remarks about HEA fixing the problem and not U.S. Dept. of Ed/ESSA, be sure to ask him about these page numbers from the ESSA’s Final Conference Report. (This is an excerpt of my of my articles) “Teachers, School Leaders, Non-Profits, For-Profits Inside and Outside the Classrooms: Pages 300/301; Page 302; Pages 323, 324; Page 344; Pages 347-349; 351-357; Page 406; and Section 9210 (yes, as in the Data paragraph above). In one ‘crunch’, see my “School Board Special Part 3”, for not only more revealed rottenness for teachers and leaders, but you will see more about intrusive data mining, as well as whole community alignment all in the name of ‘challenging state academic standards’ for student competency based education.” To see the entire article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/02/23/essa-in-a-nutshell/
Closing: Finally, why I think Rep. Kline is being overly dramatic with his bandwagon use.
He knows full well that the U.S. Dept. of Education oversees Higher Education as well as K-12 education, and, early education.
Suggesting an updated piece of legislation (which is illegally based) to fix a problem created by another illegally based (updated) piece of legislation which is overseen by an illegally based federal agency is quite redundant.
It is also a disgrace to our nation’s checks and balances. Lastly, it is one of the most see-through attempts at manipulation over a group of citizens known as Americans, not minions.
To you, my fellow anti CCSS Warriors, I salute your diligence in fighting the overreach of Common Core, Competency Based Education, Career Tech Ed, College/Career Readiness, and all that goes with them for the Workforce based education system we see happening every day.
I congratulate you on your use of patriotism to see that the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is a farce for American education.
However, we have much to do. Why? As I shared in my ‘Weekend News’, the full U.S. Senate will either confirm or deny Dr. John King as the Secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Ed. on March 9th, 2016. But, there is MORE!
The List of ESSA Fools:
Not that we don’t already know there are lots of ESSA fools, but for a refresher, here are the groups of a newly formed coalition, Sen. Alexander revealed have already begun working hard of revamping education to fit the ESSA. (Source: the Senate HELP Committee Hearing from 2/25/16) National Governors Association, The National Educators Association, School Superintendents Association (aka: American Association of School Administrators), American Federation of Teachers, National Conference of State Legislators, National Association for the State Boards of Education, The National School Boards Association, National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals, the National Teachers Association, and with the support of the Chief Council of State School Officers.
Why are they fools? First, they are well known CCSS Machine members. Secondly, they all have gone out of their way to align education and lie about how great the alignment is. Their third foolish action? Helping spread the misinformation about the ESSA and the return of the States sovereignty in education.
Leading this fools battalion? The U.S. Congress and the mainstream media! Has the misinformation worked? Absolutely!
The Focus of the Anti CCSS Warriors:
From the time the ESSA was voted on and passed into law, our sole focus has been exposing the TRUTH about how the federal government, NOT the States will run education.
From today forward, you, the Anti CCSS Warrior, will have a document with proof of just how the federal government has hidden this control in plain sight. This document is one I created for my state’s legislators. I share it with you so you can continue (or begin) to help your legislators see the TRUTH. As always, in this War Against the Core, we don’t have much time.
Our actions MUST be planned well, carried out with purpose, and focused on our target: Ending federal control of education. The document is titled ‘ESSA Proof of National Control, Not State Control’. It is an “Open Office Document” which will download to your computer first, then you should be able to open it successfully. Be a ‘modern day Martin Luther’ and nail this document on the legislators doors!
Anti CCSS Warriors, this is the time to be radical, not shy. This is the time to strike fear into the Senate’s direction. They seek re-election. They won’t get our votes should they confirm Dr. King. While I am not suggesting physical aggression toward another person, I am suggesting we use a ‘hostage-like attitude’ toward the process of Dr. King’s confirmation. We have the POWER, not Congress. It is time we use that power to its fullest!
It is STILL a government of the people, for the people, and by the people!
Oh, and one last thought, while you contemplate whom to NOT vote for, 19 of the 22 members of the U.S. Senate HELP Committee voted FOR the ESSA!
