Way Out Yonder…

Recently, Warriors Against Fed Ed, I was looking through my State’s Legislative website. I thought I’d seen enough of the proposed bills linking NC (where I live) to the ESSA’s (Every Student Succeeds Act) overreach in state education. (*Note: if you missed that article )

However, there was one I missed. It’s called the “BRIGHT Futures Act”. It’s from the NC Senate, and is also S56. My fellow anti CCSS Warrior, Andrea Dillon, shared news and video of this Bill on the “American Lens” Facebook page. In the video, our Lt. Governor is waxing joyously about how a “Last Mile” for NC is about to be reached. What is he referring to?

Digital Connectivity and how it will help Rural Education

“Digital Connectivity” ties rural education to the CCSS Machine through aligned workforce based education as laid out in ESSA, HEA (Higher Education Act), and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act).
“Digital Connectivity” was also a huge portion of the U.S. House of Representative’s HR5 (Student Success Act).
I laid all this out for you in my previous article titled “ESSA and Digital Overload”. That article also helps us connect Rural Education to HR5 and “NC New Schools”. (*Note: the NC New Schools will lead to you to other States with rural education populations.)

You may recall, HR5 was the House’s version to re-authorize ESEA of 1965 (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). As a compromise, big parts of HR5 were taken and added to the U.S. Senate’s version of ESEA’s re-authorization, called “Every Child Achieves Act”, or S1177.

As we now know, S1177 is the Bill which survived and changed its name to ESSA to reflect all that ‘bi-partisan’ work from Congress.

The digital mandates are now coming to fruition. Conveniently completed from a State level with Bills such as “Bright Futures”.

Pausing For A Bit Of Reference:

Before we go on finding out how NC’s S65 is helping ESSA ‘set up shop’ in  NC, let me say that I have no idea how many States have similar legislation. I have no clue how many NC State Leaders are pushing for all the ‘digital connectivity’ items they can get their hands on. However, I do know, that our State has a long history on jumping on the ‘fed ed’ bandwagon several times.

That NC has jumped on this bandwagon is no shocker. Why? NC was the first State to jump on board with Microsoft through their Microsoft IT Academy.

ncmicroit

As we know, Microsoft is a huge digital, CCSS Machine organization. We know Bill Gates is Microsoft’s ‘guy’. We also know Gates is the one who signed an agreement with UNESCO for a one world curriculum, which grew into the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative). We see the CCSSI in the pages of ESSA, too. Literally.
*Note: In ESSA, we also see the name change from “CCSS” (Common Core State Standards) to its less ‘vile’ name, ‘College and Career Readiness’. ESSA’s writers like to use that phrase. Along with the even more innocent sounding “Challenging State Academic Standards”. ESSA’s writers also threw in the ‘Career Technical Education (CTE)’ phrase.

So, what have Microsoft and NC been up to more recently than 2010? This short You Tube video (2013) will introduce you to the “Imagine Academy”.

In 2016, NC and Microsoft made the news in connection with the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Big Data Regional Hubs. There are 4 of these Hubs across the USA. NC is in the Southern Hub. (*Note: NSF is also a huge CCSS Machine member organization.)

Back To The ‘BRIGHT Futures’:

brightnc

Above you see a screen shot of the 4 page S65 Bill (BRIGHT Futures Act)

*BRIGHT stands for “Broadband, Retail Services on-line, Internet of things, GridPower, Health care, and, Training and education”.

You’ll also see I added some emphasis to Page 1 of S65. These items are very important clues to those of us fighting federally led education in ALL age groups.

While the legislators promoting this Bill are calling this a great thing for NC, here are the parts they either left out by omission (assuming they have no idea how vast the CCSS Machine’s grip on workforce education is) OR by design.

a) P3s (Public-Private Partnerships) in education have created a disgrace to the classical, academic basis our students need.

b) Workforce based education, especially in adult populations ties back to WIOA and HEA, espically through the one-stop-job-centers here in NC. Called “NCWorks” it is a direct product of WIOA state grant money awarded to NC. Why? WIOA grant money given to ANY State has an underlying purpose: using the job center data to ‘marry’ with the student data to create a seamless Career Tech/Career Pathway education! It is the ‘perfect’ setup. The student data, as we know, comes from the Dept. of Education; likewise, the job data comes from the Dept. of Labor. Both happen at the Federal level AND the State level!!

c) Making improvements in your State for better education/access to shouldn’t come about as a by-product of your economy. Those improvements should never place the importance of money over our students. Using a phrase like ‘all means necessary’ is also a big warning.

d) Governor appointed positions spell bad news for the State citizens, regardless of what Council or Committee it is. Special interests are vastly protected with these appointments.

e) Near the bottom of Page 1 (Line 27), “School Connectivity Initiative and Digital Learning Plan” are inserted.  The SCI (School Connectivity Initiative) has been around a few years. Here’s what is does, “The NC School Connectivity Initiative (SCI) compliments the E-rate program in North Carolina by providing state funding to cover the non-discounted portion of school connectivity-related charges. The SCI also provides a statewide network connecting all LEAs and most charter schools to the Internet, E-rate training and support, and network engineering services.” Source: Page 18 of the NC Digital Learning Plan (*Note: E-Rates are those small charges on your phone bill. They, too, can be traced back to the CCSS Machine. E-Rates basically are funds used to data mine your students.) According to the NC Digital Plan, at the bottom of Page 18, it is revealed the E-rates used for NC are based on Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

The NC Digital Plan also is part of the CCSS Machine’s plan for continued alignment in education. How do I know this?  CCSS Machine member, The Friday Institute, is the one which published the detailed Plan in 2015. Among the Plan’s pages is the fact other States using Digital Learning Plans were used as models for NC. The roots for NC’s Digital shift in education go back to 1999. The CCSS Machine entered the digital push about the time Race to the Top surfaced.
To see and read the entire NC Digital Plannc-digital-learning-detailed-plan-9-14-15

Interestingly enough, the NC DPI (Dept of Public Instruction) and the NC SBE (State Board of Education) help oversee this Digital Learning Plan. (Page 6). Our Lt. Governor serves on the SBE. (see below)

ncsbe

From the Lt. Governor’s Education Policy page on his Official NC Website, his stance on digital education. (The rest of his policies reveal a clear conflict (school choice) for us Warriors.) See: http://ltgov.nc.gov/resources/lieutenant-governor-dan-forest-education-policy)

“Innovation in Education: Students need access to modern technology to prepare them for a 21st century economy. Every student should have one-to-one devices (computers, laptops, tablets, etc.) in their North Carolina classroom. As Chairman of the Governor’s eLearning Commission and member of the State Board of Education’s Special Committee on Digital Learning, Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest is actively working to provide Wi-Fi access to every K – 12 classroom in the state. Though North Carolina leads the way in our effort to extend broadband Internet access to every public school, the next step is to expand that infrastructure to reach every public school classroom and put one-to-one devices in the hands of the students.”

I would urge any of you with proven research as to how digital devices are so dangerous in the hands of our youngest learners or how too much screen time is dangerous for any age student, to please contact the Lt. Governor and every one of the S65 Sponsoring Legislators.

If you missed why ‘school choice’ is an anti Fed Ed Warrior’s conflict:

essaumbrella

As far as top-down digital legislation or programs containing digital learning and related to ESSA, or now codified within, America has:
Digital Promise
Digital Promise Neighborhoods
i3 Initiative
ConnectED
Digital Innovation Upgrades or Creations
(at least $849 million in funding is ear-marked)
REAP (Rural Education Achievement Program)
(Will impact Title One funding, use $1.6 billion in tax payer funds for ‘rigorous’ education including all technology, ramp up the STEM Master Corps, and more.)
Community Schools (can also include 21st Century Community Learning Centers)

Closing:

So, pardon me, if I’m not seeing such a BRIGHT NC Future. What I do see is a NC committeed more to the federal government than to its citizens. I urge all of you who live in rural counties and states, use this article as an example of what is going on right under our noses to align everyone in education to the same thing!

Ed/Workforce False Positive

Warriors Against Common Core/Fed Led Education, we’ve sat on the edge of change in this War vs. the Core everyday for years. Since the shift in education AWAY from academics and freedom TO a constricted workforce skill based education, we’ve seen elections come and go; we’ve seen re-brands of Common Core desperately passed off (or at least the attempts have been desperate) as something “new, better, more choice, and, the ever famous, ‘CCSS is dead.'”; and we’ve stood firm the ENTIRE time.

Today, on the eve of the most problematic and protested campaigns to date, we find ourselves just as RESOLVED to continue to fight this War, no matter what it costs us. I thank you for that. Together, we Warriors have more gumption (aka: spunk; spitfire; patriotism) than all of Washington, D.C. leadership put together.

We will need even more of these ethics in the coming days, Warriors.

Why? Those in Congress, especially the education/workforce based committees have locked us in to this education shift 100%. SO much legislation and money have gone into this arm of the CCSS Machine, it is quite ridiculous. Had our Congress members devoted as much effort to the issues THEY SHOULD GOVERN, we could have solved a plethora of American problems by now.

While we, the Anti CCSS Warriors, have been busy spreading evidence about the toxic overreach in education by the federal government, these ‘education/workforce based sold out Congressional members’ have been churning out statement after statement about how FANTASTIC it will be for America to have MORE Common Core in the form of Career Tech Education! They’ve spit out lie after lie, dressed as a positive growth step for our nation. If you’ve noticed, I’ve exposed several of these statements as dribble, especially from the chairmen and chairwomen.

So, do you think on the EVE of the 2016 Elections, they’d ease up on the CCSS Machine rhetoric?!

HARDLY!

The Ed/Workforce Statement Of The Day:

117edwork
While the email was sent out earlier today, the actual letter of blustering protest and ire was dated 11/4/16.

Here’s what is hiding in the email and letter we, as Warriors, should know and expose:
1) Rep. John Kline and Sen. Lamar Alexander (bosom D.C. buddies) are among the leaders of this latest false/positive move to bamboozle Americans.

2) Since there is a tremendous mountain of evidence, we, the Anti CCSS Warriors have amassed, it is no longer a conspiracy theory that Congress is acting illegally, it is a racket.
(Hat tip to my wonderfully sharp Alaska Warrior friend, Barbara H. for pointing this concept out.)

3) The email and letter BOTH use a Chevron vs. the Natural Resources Defense Council precedent.

Here’s the excerpt, “In Chevron U.S.A. Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, the U.S. Supreme Court established that the test for reviewing an agency’s interpretation of a statute consists of two related questions. First, the question is “whether Congress has directly spoken to the precise question at issue. If the intent of Congress is clear, that is the end of the matter” because the court and agency must “give effect to the unambiguously expressed intent of Congress.” Second, if “Congress has not directly addressed the precise question at issue” or “if the statute is silent or ambiguous” the question is “whether the agency’s answer is based on a permissible construction of the statute.” ”

A) It’s really ironic and probably a masterful move that the Ed/Workforce House and Senate members pulled this case out of the Supreme Court’s files. WHY?
Chevron is a sold out member to not only Common Core, but Career Tech Education, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)!

B) While the letter goes into lots of details about the U.S. Secretary of Education not carrying ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) out as written (an excerpt of the law is even quoted about the restrictions of the Secretary’s powers from one section), it (the letter) does NOT reveal to We the People, all the OTHER sections of the Law which are SO loosely defined…including those parts where the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary will have increased powers on certain mandates!!

C) Here are the 25 ‘angered’ Congress men and women:
1) Senate HELP (education/workforce) committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN),
2) House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN),
3) Senate committee members Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Susan Collins (R- ME), Michael B. Enzi (R-WY), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Johnny Isakson (R-GA), Mark Kirk (R-IL), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Pat Roberts (R-KS),
4) House committee members Mike Bishop (R-MI), Bradley Byrne (R-AL), Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA), Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Brett Guthrie (R-KY), Joe Heck (R-NV), Luke Messer (R-IN), Phil Roe (R-TN), Todd Rokita (R-IN), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA), Tim Walberg (R-MI), and Joe Wilson (R-SC).

D) Go back and look at how each of these people have voted for HR5 (Student Success Act), S1177 (Every Child Achieves Act)..BOTH were combined to create ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). Then, go back and look at each of their votes when it came to HR5587, S3271. BOTH of these bills are not only companion ones, but will lock in Career Pathways, Career Clusters, and Career Tech Education for all students. The power to determine these tracks of ‘education’ will be in the FEDERAL government’s hands, Warriors!

E) Go back and look at the many statements which have been released since the Congress members left to go home in time for the Elections of 2016. Every damnable one of them states repeatedly how much our country needs CTE.

F) See if you can find out how each of these 25 members feels about S3174 (LADDER Act). It’s language not only tags the U.S. Secretary of Education as a member of a new Executive elite Workforce based education Council, it creates MORE national control in education geared for skill based citizens, NOT independent THINKERS!!

G) Both the email/letter proudly spew the ‘bipartisan’ line. That’s right, Congress, assume we know so little as to buy that just because it had both sides of the aisle involved, whatever is created is a positive move for America. That’s just the opposite of the truth, Warriors! We know the CCSS Machine has BOTH SIDES of the aisle embedded!

Closing:

Warriors, while I do know for a fact the U.S. Secretary of Education is overstepping boundaries, these types of Congressional statements are a slap in our faces. Why?

Had Congress been as hard nosed and dedicated to serving the Citizens/Warriors, the Dept. of Education would have been penalized or abolished long ago. Congress is jumping up and down in mock anger, but what about their overreach into education?! They are JUST as guilty. Warriors, we also need to know that simply reining in one federal department is NOT ENOUGH. The CCSS Machine has infiltrated at least 9 federal departments! Chief among these 9 are: Education; Labor; and, Health/Human Services.

It is NOT enough to just rid our government of the CCSS Machine. Why? As long as our federal leaders keep signing agreements to adhere to the United Nations, we will NOT see a decrease in the shift in education.

Regardless of the results: friend or enemy. Much is going to be on our shoulders. We may be asked to be part of the solution for a change OR we may be called upon to present facts from our mountains of evidence which could be used to right the wrongs for our children.
I do not know. However, I do know one thing, we WILL CARRY ON!

The Chain Gang Cometh

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, when I share what I just found out, I hope the chorus from The Pretenders song,“Back on the Chain Gang”, doesn’t pop into your head. I know it did in my head. The chorus goes, “We’re back on the train; oh back on the chain gang.” However, look at the last verse,
“The powers that be
That force us to live like we do
Bring me to my knees
When I see what they’ve done to you
But I’ll die as I stand here today
Knowing that…”

So, What in the World Would Invoke This?!

chaingang
That’s right..another *&&^%* fed bill connecting education to anything that could even be considered related, no matter if it truly is or NOT. This one doesn’t have a number yet, that I could find. Notice the language in the tweet in the middle…‘we must’.

I want to pause and state for ‘the record’ that I agree there are things, we as a people MUST do, but as a federally controlled government? NO! Especially when you factor in how EVERYTHING about education is NOT a Constitutionally protected federal jurisdiction! Think about it, since the federal government has NO legality over education, they shouldn’t be able to include education into some area that is their business. By no means am I an expert on our penal system.  However, I DO know education! So, for the remainder of this article, I’ll lay out the federal overreaches into education from a juvenile justice angle.

First Up, Before ESSA, “At-risk” Measures:

From my 2014 article about ‘alternative education’, where you will find every student population OUTSIDE a public school student, as well as certain student populations INSIDE public education defined.
“At-risk” students fall into BOTH categories. “The Dropout Prevention Center/Network notes that CTE (Career Tech Education) is one of its 15 solutions or strategies. The Center/Network believes “such as individualized instruction, service-learning, community collaboration, mentoring, active learning, and educational technology. According to the Center, “A quality CTE program and a related guidance program are essential for all students.” CTE was identified to have five potential benefits to at-risk students by Schargel and Smink in Strategies to Help Solve our School Dropout Problem. These benefits include enhancement of students’ motivation and academic achievement; increased personal and social competence related to work in general; a broad understanding of an occupation or industry; career exploration and planning; and acquisition of knowledge or skills related to employment in particular occupations or more generic work competencies.”

If you’ve not read this, please do. While the information is a bit dated, we, as anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors know the value of information. The resources in the article are key to our current fight. See:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/03/tech-thursday-career-techcommon-core-and-alternative-education/

Secondly, Before ESSA was ESSA:

Not so long ago, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) wasn’t called the “Every Student Succeeds Act”. The House had their own version of a made over ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Act, 1965), and called it HR5 or the “Student Success Act”. The Senate had their own version, S1177 or the “Every Student Achieves Act”.

“ESSA” as we know it was a combined effort to take the much more effective HR5 and ‘water it down’ with the S1177.

So, what did HR5 AND S1177 have in regards to ‘at-risk’ students? Here’s an excerpt from my 2015 article about CCSS/CTE updates. “reveals how IDEA funding and more, are being abused for the post-secondary alignment to all things CCSS, CTE for students with any sort of special needs, or ‘at risk’ students. Even if you do not have a student in either of these populations, it is OUR tax money which funds IDEA.”  I urge you to go back and read what’s in this jam-packed informative article. See:
 https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/07/weekend-news-ccsscte-catch-up-edition/

If you want to see details about how SEL (Social Emotional Learning) is being abused by the CCSS Machine and will be used for ‘at-risk’ students (as well as others), see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/21/weekend-news-the-state-of-ccsss-sel/

ESSA Embeds WIOA and HEA, A Toxic Triangle:

ESSA: Every Student Succeeds Act
WIOA: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
HEA: Higher Education Act

You know how well I’ve shown you the documents, links, and resources which tie these 3. When you factor in ‘at-risk’ students, however, you are going to get Civil Rights groups, Drop Out groups, social justice/awareness groups, and anti-poverty groups.
Warriors, do NOT misunderstand me. I am NOT anti-education; anti-job; or anti-rehabilitation. But as evidence has shown us, when our Congress is bending anything AND everything to meet the CCSS Machine’s agenda of any and all education/education related, or service related activity to the workforce based education system SOMETHING it’s definitely toxic.

ESSA has definitive language for ‘at-risk’ students. One of the chief ties in ESSA connected to these students is WIOA. Here’s an excerpt you’ll need, “The Department of Labor has administered the YouthBuild program since September 2006. The YouthBuild program is administered by the Employment and Training Administration’s Office of Workforce Investment, Division of Youth ServicesYouthBuild is a community-based alternative education program that provides job training and educational opportunities for at-risk youth ages 16-24. Youth learn construction skills while constructing or rehabilitating affordable housing for low-income or homeless families in their own neighborhoods.” See the entire article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/silent-partners/

From August 2016, this article will give you an easy trail to connect the National Drop Out Prevention Network to ESSA AND the UN’s 2030 Goals for global education

So, The House of Representatives Wants an Update:

I guess the rhetorical question should be WHY is Congress being allowed to create legislation which violates our U.S. Constitution? Think about it, these honored public servants take oaths to protect their State level Constitutions, but they ALSO take an oath to protect (at ALL costs) our U.S. Constitution!

To see the ‘facts’ the House has put together about this update 1974 Law:
http://democrats-edworkforce.house.gov/imo/media/doc/2016-06-22%20HR%205529%20HSIs%20fact%20sheet.pdf

To see the House’s Summary of why this is a great idea to update this Law:
http://edworkforce.house.gov/uploadedfiles/bill_summary_-_supporting_youth_opportunity_and_preventing_delinquency_act.pdf
(*Note: look at the familiar words or phrases we’ve seen connected to ESSA, WIOA, and HEA)

Key things this updated Law will mandate for the States:
a) It’s 96 pages long
b) It re-authorizes AND improves its predecessor (Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974)
c) ‘The improvements’? “other purposes”. We’ve seen this when ESEA was re-authorized, and a plethora of other fed laws. This is how bills with one purpose suddenly morphs into a multi-purpose bill.
d) From Page 3, “‘‘(4) to support a continuum of evidence-based  or promising programs (including delinquency prevention, intervention, mental health, behavioral  health and substance abuse treatment, family services, and services for children exposed to violence)  that are trauma informed, reflect the science of adolescent development, and are designed to meet the needs of at-risk youth and youth who come into contact with the justice system.’’.”
(*Note: considering the evidence by other anti CCSS Warriors about the use of Title One funding for behavior management, that should be warning enough.)
e) On Page 6, I saw ‘data mining’, shortly followed by ‘chemical agents’, then ‘isolation’. I don’t need to tell you the chemical agents were spelled out. Very creepy!
f) On the top of Page 7, that ‘isolation’ is defined as 1o minutes or more. Again, creepy! (Be sure you look at the medical personnel involved. Also, be sure to see the reference to ‘restraints’.)
g) On Page 8, the descriptions of how students are identified as ‘at risk’ and in need of behavior interventions.
h) On Page 9, the assessments included will include ‘previous records’, you can bet transcripts or report cards will be included.
i)  On Page 10, the pointers to psychology measures. Think about all the anti CCSS research which has pointed in that direction.
j) Page 11 begins the section for long term juvenile justice systems. Consider the documented cases already in the media about children as young as Kindergarten being put on suspension.

Look at this:

Closing:

Warriors, there is SO much more in this U.S. House of Representatives bill. As you can see, we haven’t even made it to Page 20 and look at all the ties! I’m not sure about you, but this type of legislation grieves my soul tremendously.
Please, look at the rest of this Bill! If you have connections you easily see, share them! You know I am open to sharing information so we can be as equipped as possible. If you think you see a red flag, that usually means there is one.

Tech Thursday: Post Secondary Champs?

What every US citizen said they always wanted... NOT!
What every US citizen said they always wanted… NOT!

For today’s “Tech Thursday” article, I want to shine the light on the CCSS alignment in post-secondary education yet again. Shouldn’t my focus be on the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act)? While the focus is on that (my last 2 published articles were devoted to the ESEA re-authorization push), we need to understand the upcoming push to re-authorize the HEA (Higher Education Act) is ALSO in need of our attention. Why? The CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative) depends on a TOTAL alignment, from pre-K to grad school, to be complete! In my researching the subject, I know the CCSS Machine (all the efforts put into motion by the CCSSI) cannot succeed with only a pre-K to 12th grade movement. It HAS to encompass ALL education for it to succeed. It is my goal, since I began researching and speaking out, to foil those actions as much as possible! So, what can I shine the light today? Read on, my fellow Warriors….

‘Career Readiness Champs’ to Them, ‘Chumps’ to Me:

The CCSS Machine has churned out many names to confuse and detract the general public from the fact that no matter what name it stuck on their modern education reforms, it’s STILL Common Core aligned! Case in point, ‘career readiness’, ‘college and career readiness’, “CTE, Career Tech Education”, “Career Pathways”, and so on. While the War Against the Core is raging on in the K-12 arena, movements in the post-secondary realm are continuing on. It is my belief that is exactly what the CCSS Machine wants. For us to be so attentive to only one portion of the reform, we don’t notice the reform efforts in birth to 5 years, or the post-secondary areas. Did you know that more and more states are establishing now (or have established in the past) CRIs (Career Readiness Initiatives)??
Yes, it’s true. California as of 2/15 has established such, see:
http://www.cde.ca.gov/eo/in/cr/ However, since I don’t live in CA, but NC, I’m going to use NC as my example for the most part to see what moves the CCSS Machine has made here. As you know, using what I have found can help you look in your state for the same type of movements. Below, you can find some of the CCR champs/chumps.

Champ/Chump #1: NC’s Career Readiness Certification Organization:

The website: http://www.crcnc.org/info/AboutCRC.aspx
The goal:North Carolina ’s Career Readiness Certification (CRC) is designed to meet the needs of both employers and job seekers in this transitioning economy.

·        For employers, the CRC offers a reliable means of determining whether a potential employee has the necessary literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills to be “job ready.”

·        For job seekers, the CRC serves as a portable credential that can be more meaningful to employers than a high school degree or a resume citing experience in a different job setting.

The CRC is based upon WorkKeys, a nationally recognized, skills assessment tool developed by ACT Inc.” {*Note: I’ve written about the WorkKeys assessments many times, if you’d like those links, let me know.}

Since we know the WorkKeys is tied to career paths, the CRC uses WDBs (Workforce Developments Boards) and other P3 information (public, private partnerships) to help you search the CRC’s “Talent Pipeline”, see: http://www.crcnc.org/search/geosearch3.aspx
Along with these alignments and P3 participation, you have business owners and managers chiming in on what a great champion all this CCSS/CTE/CRC alignment is. See it in their own words, http://www.crcnc.org/info/Quotes.aspx

Is the NC CRC the only group of its kind in NC? No, we need to look at the NC New Schools Rural Education work, too. You can find them at: http://ncnewschools.org/national-rural-education-initiative-to-improve-college-and-career-readiness/ Did you notice the web address included ‘national rural education’? NC is embedding it out in 6 school districts, however, SC, MS, and other states are set to reap a champion ‘bumper crop’ as well.
Here’s an excerpt, “Students in rural areas of Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi and South Carolina will soon have greater access to college- and career-readiness efforts through the Rural Innovative Schools initiative, funded by a $20 million federal grant and additional private investment. The initiative is led by Breakthrough Learning, the national brand of NC New Schools, which is also implementing the work in six North Carolina school districts.”
If you’d like to know how many of our tax dollars the US Dept of Ed spent and what other ‘private’ donations were made, read below:
“The U.S. Department of Education last fall awarded the initiative a five-year, $20 million grant to develop new college and career readiness and college access opportunities for students in rural communities. The grant represents the only “scale-up” grant awarded under the recent Investing in Innovation (i3) initiative, which aims to develop innovative approaches to improve student achievement and replicate effective strategies nationwide. An additional $4.2 million in funding will be raised jointly over the five-year initiative by Breakthrough Learning and participating districts and states. Investment partners in the Rural Innovative Schools scale-up initiative currently include: AT&T Aspire, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Carnegie Corporation of New York, ChildTrust, Edward M. Armfield Sr. Foundation, Golden LEAF Foundation, Goodnight Educational Foundation, NC Electric Membership Corporation, SAS, Wells Fargo Foundation and the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation.

Champs/chumps #2: In case you didn’t know it New Schools is a Gates Foundation backed organization. See:
http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=New%20Schools%20Venture
If you’ve not seen the Gates Foundation’s CCR work, see:
http://www.gatesfoundation.org/What-We-Do/US-Program/College-Ready-Education,
and,

Since the Gates Foundation is a well known member of the CCSS Machine, it won’t be hard to connect the dots there. New Schools are in several cities and states across the nation, so they should be easy to connect to the CCSS Machine as well.

Champs/Chumps #3: Bring on the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers):

In case you’ve not seen there Task Force on CCR, you can read it all by accessing:

So, How Does All This Tie to the HEA (HIgher Education Act)?

As I’ve shared in the past about the current HEA and the proposed updates, the bridge between secondary education and post-secondary needs to be streamlined (I’ve written about those bridges before and pointed you to the documented ‘research’ churned out by not only the Gates Foundation, but others as well. If you missed those articles, let me know, I’ll be happy to share them again.) The ways in which post-secondary educational institutions are to be graded and governed in also in the proposed updates. See the Education Commission of the States report: ECSBlueprint ( the Commission is a nation wide one, not a NC specific one) The report shares how the P-20W data (pre-school to grad school or Workforce) plays into the situation as well. P-20w is in the HEA, too!
(*Note: the Education Commission of the States has detailed legislative records of each of the 50 States in America. I was curious if I could find a ‘champ/chump’ example. I did! Under the “Career/Technical Education” tab for NC, I found where CCSS aligned post-secondary education was signed into law! See below:

Others involved?
1) If you’d like to see the NACEP (National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnership) joint report with Jobs for the Future (2013)on  what needs to be done to further the CCSS Machine (mainly through STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) push into post-secondary education, see: http://nacep.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/HEA-joint-policy-recs-Bard-NACEP-JFF-August-2013.pdf
Jobs for the Future’s CCSS ties? There are plenty, use this link to find their ‘research’:
http://www.jff.org/tags/common-core
NACEP’s CCSS ties? See Strategy #1, objective #2: http://www.nacep.org/about-nacep/strategic-plan/

2) If  you’d like the document tying Lumina, Gates Foundation, and other well known CCSS Machine members where the goal is engaging higher education institutions in aligning to CCSS, see: http://rockpa.org/document.doc?id=232 (*Note: this one’s worth downloading before it disappears)

3) Helping write the re-authorization the HEA are some of the same members of Congress who’ve embedded so much pro CCSS language in the re-authorization combination of the HR5 and the S1177 (Student Success Act; Every Child Achieves Act)! These are all champs to the pro side of CCSS/CTE/CCR, but to the rest of us? Just a bunch of power hungry, sold out to the CCSS Machine chumps!

Weekend News: CCSS/CTE Catch Up Edition

divameme

For this edition of my “Weekend News”, here’s a takeaway ‘spoiler’: No matter where you are in the War Against the Core, there’s something for everyone in this edition. Regardless of educational choice, CCSS is set to control education.

If you are involved in traditional public education, the CCSS Machine is the most well known. But what about those NOT in traditional public education? It’s solidly there as well. When you look at the agenda behind the illegally based education reform, the goal is total alignment, not just for education, but for our entire nation. Why? Workforce, the economy, and global citizenry.

Common Core and the Special Needs Students:

Here’s the latest information I found from the Learning Sciences International (which is tied to Robert Marzano). You can find out how this social emotional, pro CCSS push is targeting special needs students, their families, their teachers, and other educational staff.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/03/ftf-new-ccss-unpacking-guide/

This article, which was published near the end of October 2015, is one you’ll want to read due to its increased push for data mining; parent alignment from the U.S. Dept. of Education, and much more. It also ties to the re-authorization of the ESEA.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/26/monday-musings-the-ccss-are-you-kidding-me-files/

This article, from mid October 2015, reveals how IDEA funding and more, are being abused for the post-secondary alignment to all things CCSS, CTE for students with any sort of special needs, or ‘at risk’ students. Even if you do not have a student in either of these populations, it is OUR tax money which funds IDEA
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/19/monday-musings-idea-when-good-goes-ccscte-bad/

Common  Core, Career Tech Education, Career Pathways, STEM, and the ESEA Re-authorization:

Congress is poised to be voting anytime now on the combination bill where the HR5 and S1177 (Student Success Act and the Every Child Achieves Act, respectively)  This article gives you a review for those who’ve been fighting CCSS for awhile, and for those who are new to the fight, this article can give you a quick look at why we MUST call our Senators and Representatives as soon as possible to HALT the re-authorization!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/05/tech-thursday-ccsscte-low-down/

This key article is certainly one anyone needs to read or re-read! If you think the STEM Act of 2015 is a ‘good thing’ for education, I urge you to reconsider!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/21/wybi-tying-stem-to-ccss-again/

Common Core, Career Pathways, and STEM for the Babies:

While we’ve heard and read many articles about the mental damage the CCSS brings students; the Universal PreK push, this article gives you a NC based pro CCSS initiative geared for those with children who are newborns all the way to age 5! While this is NC based, it reaches untold numbers outside NC. You can also find another financial institution meddling in education. To date, I’ve been able to find 3 different such cases: one for post-secondary CCSS, CTE alignment; one for the youngest of USA citizens, and one for promoting anything the CCSS Machine grinds out!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/monday-musings-alignment-for-wee-ones/

Common Core Entities Aligning School Personnel and Others:

This article was geared for a “Halloween” theme, but regardless, it is still vital ‘need to know’ information. During all the research I’ve conducted, I’ve shared many groups seeking to align our school counselors, principals, school board members, and, school superintendents, across the USA. Especially readable for those who are new to battling against the CCSS Machine.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/31/weekend-news-those-ghouls-in-our-schools/

Here’s another article where I reveal yet financial institution meddling in USA education for purposed endorsement of all things related to Common Core! This article shows exactly how P3s (public private partnerships) ruin education in support of anything Common Core related.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/27/ftf-measure-twice-cut-once/

This article is very detailed in its look at several national groups committed to targeting school personnel. From teachers, on up the ‘ladder’, if you weren’t aware these groups existed, this information is key to your state’s battle.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/18/weekend-news-ccss-school-officials-alignment/

Common Core, STEM for Schools via the Export-Import Bank Re-authorization:

If you’ve followed my writing long, you know I’ve shown you how CCSS, CTE, STEM is embedded in legislation that supposedly has nothing to do with education at all, yet, we find pro CCSS programs somehow embedded in them. We saw it in the WIOA of 2014 (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014), and it’s there in the current E-IB (Export-Import Bank) re-authorization! If you missed this one, this is an important article!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/29/tech-thursday-stemccss-push-making-it-american/

The Common Core’s “Career Tech Pledge”:

If you are new to fighting Common Core, you may not know that the Career Tech Education is an ‘adult version’ of the CC Standards. I’ve been able to provide evidence to support this since I first began blogging. However, this article is some of the latest information. It encompasses several states, including those states which chose to NOT adopt the CCSS (example: Texas). You’ll see many other states involvement in the “Pledge”, see what catchy names are being used to ‘hide in plain sight’ the CCSS/CTE alignment, and see how ‘action plans’ for special needs students, homeschool students play into the “Pledge”….and all in the name of ‘college career readiness’!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/15/tech-thursday-career-readiness-pledge/

Closing:

As you can see, no educational choice is safe from the CCSS Machine, the more we can help others realize this, the more we can stand together AGAINST the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI)!

Tech Thursday: CCSS/CTE Low Down

Sometimes even the most seasoned anti CCSS Warrior needs a refreshment in purpose. I know, I do. Lately, however, I’ve been meeting more and more new folks, who are stepping up to the fight and willing to become anti CCSS Warriors. Today’s “Tech Thursday” will be ‘low-tech’. I’m harkening back to some basics in our ‘War Against the Core’.

Protecting each other well during a battle is vital for success.
Protecting each other well during a battle is vital for success.

The thoughts of new Warriors needing information and veterans needing refreshing  is thrilling AND challenging. Why? Thrilling because the message about the toxicity of the agenda, initiative behind the CCSS Machine is waking up more and more citizens. Challenging because there SO much information out there, they are quickly overwhelmed.

Anti CCSS Warriors, veteran or new, we don’t have much time.

The swiftness of this War Against the Core is moving quickly. Even now, Congress is set to re-authorize the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965) via a combination of the two versions of bills passed by each Chamber earlier this year (the House’s version is HR5, “Student Success Act”; the Senate’s is S1177, “Every Child Achieves Act”. The combination bill is set to be well over 2, 000 pages. It is full of MORE CCSS (Common Core State Standards), CTE (Career Tech Education), CP (Career Pathways), CCR (College and Career Readiness), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math), NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), C3 (the new CCSS aligning Civics), and countless other measures which lock in national assessments, teacher and educational staff alignment, and ESA (Education Savings Accounts or ‘portability’ {this is where the money follows the child throughout their educational lives}. The combined bill will lock in social and emotional mental health for ALL students. It will lock in 21st Century Community Learning Centers (where our schools will be transformed into ‘one stop’ locations for education, health care, job searches, and more). We’ll see MORE data mining, high stakes assessments for educational staff and students. To hear that a legislator or leader is against Common Core (assumed to be only K-12), they must also be against the post-secondary versions, the birth to PreK versions, the versions which impact those outside public education.

We must also be watching for any re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act of 1965). This re-authorization is set to CONTINUE all of the above into our post-secondary educational institutions (where it already is).

We must focus, we  must be purposed. Me must be diligent, vigilant, and vocal.

We must remain united. If we are against the CCSS Machine and all it encompasses, that is all it takes.
Our evidence must be factual and credible. For those who are new to this War, it can be confusing whom or what to trust. My researched advice? Follow the evidence where it leads. Don’t rely on a name alone. I’ve been horribly surprised in finding out who is really fighting AGAINST the agenda behind the CCSS Machine and who is really casting shadows.
This should include those in your local areas as well as those on a national level.
If our evidence uncovers someone who appears to be against one part of the Core and supports it in another way, we should hold them accountable as to WHY. ANY part of the agenda or the initiative to change not only our education system, but also change our country is UNACCEPTABLE.
If what we’ve found to be credible, factual exposes P3s(public private partnerships), legislators, etc. so be it. Common Core has many parts in its “Machine”. We know with responsibility to be truthful, that means we may face hard times. So be it. When we answered this battle cry to save our students, teachers, schools. WE MEANT IT.

We also must take the time to attend as many ‘Warrior meetings’ as possible. By this I mean, in person, virtual, or on the phone. We must stay connected. No warrior in any battle will survive alone. We must take care to remember, what we fight against is a ‘initiative’, not people. It’s easy to attack people. That lessens our effectiveness in this War Against the Core. However, if we attack the initiative, that, my fellow Warriors, is much more impacting.  We have proven how effective and impacting we can be against the CCSS Machine. If not, why else would the Machine be churning out MORE rhetoric?! The Machine may be well funded and huge, (think Goliath), but those of us choosing to be anti CCSS Warriors know just where to cast the truth (think David and his 5 smooth stones and 1 slingshot). Truth hurts, however, truth WINS!

If you are a new anti CCSS Warrior, I invite you to contact me at your convenience. If I can not fully answer what is it you are questioning or seeking, I have no hesitation in pointing you to the correct person or fact based evidence. My research of all things connected to national standards began in 2009. The blog has over 300 articles full of embedded documents, links, media resources. I do not ask you to take my word alone about ANY of the CCSS Machine’s activities, I give you the information so you can USE it as a WEAPON. I don’t TELL you WHAT to THINK, I POINT you in the DIRECTIONS best suited for this War.

If you are a seasoned anti CCSS Warrior and need help, i am at your service. I thank each of you who have found my research trustworthy and who seek me out for what actions would be best in certain situations you’ve faced during your journeys.

Be focused in your actions against the CCSS Machine.
Be focused in your actions against the CCSS Machine.

If you only seek to do one thing to strike a blow against the CCSS Machine today, it is this:
Call your Representatives or Senators in D.C. at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote AGAINST the re-authorization of the ESEA in ANY form.

Tech Thursday: Technically Speaking for CCSS

Last night, I had the honor of speaking out against Common Core and the ‘CCSS Machine’ as I call it. In today’s “Tech Thursday”, I will share the details so you discover for yourselves, just how broadly the all-encompassing education reform (illegally based) has progressed.

Technically Speaking, A Bit if Background:

When I was invited to join last night’s phone call, I asked my hostess what the topic was to be so I could prepare. The topic, she said, would be to tie in how the most recent shooting in OR,  not only Common Core, but the overall mental damage our educational system has wrought upon our schools. My part of the conversation was to see where Common Core, communities, mental health, and gun control intersected.

My first connection between all of the above came with my “Project Aware” article (published in Dec. 2014) In that article, you can find how much gun control plays into Project Aware. It ties the SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Heath Services Administration) to the President’s gun control policies presented to America just after the Sandy Hook School shootings. The Report details how much data mining throughout your communities will be carried out by Local Education Agencies(LEAs)and SEAs (State Educational Agencies), it will reveal how teachers are to become mental health minions; how any other adult involved in education will also become aligned. Access to this article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/14/rmt-sunday-beware-of-project-aware/
To see just how aligned your school counselors (one of those ‘other; educational personnel included in the alignment, see my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/fridays-post-breaking-news-you-need-to-know/ (*NOTE: this article reveals another Presidential initiative being carried out in the name of educational alignment to the CCSS Machine.)

To access the Presidential Report from 2013, be sure to click on the embedded link ion the “Project Aware” article.

Bottom line technical detail: With this much effort (trust me, this is just a glimpse) put into aligning our educational leaders to the overall CCSS agenda, it’s no wonder education is in trouble. CCSS is breeding compliance.

Technically speaking, The Mental Health:

Okay, so we have the foundation, which is ‘compliance’. We all know that to be compliant, our thinking, our beliefs have to undergo big transformations. Our mental health plays into the CCSS Machine’s agenda beautifully. Think of all the research my fellow anti CCSS warriors have produced, especially Anita Hoge. This article should be of great help to you:
http://www.newswithviews.com/Hoge/anita117.htm
(*NOTE: In this article she shares how the upcoming re-authorizations of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) will advance the mental health power grab of our students.

That’s not the only source available to you as anti CCSS warriors. However. let’s move on to more technically speaking aspects of the mental health moves being made.

While getting my resources together for last night’s call, I was on Twitter about the time Bill Gates’ big educational speech was on. I was still sharing anti CCSS information with everyone, when I noticed some of the tweets and retweets surrounding this ‘big’ speech. Ones like below:
Mrs. Gates was sharing with all how social issues/social, emotional learning are just as vital to education & its reformation. The Ed & Workforce Democrats were stating early childhood is their focus at the moment because, as early as 9 months old, achievement gaps can be found! Head Start joined in the Gates speech with the words of we don’t enroll just the child, we enroll the family; citywide data collection and data sharing and using Detroit as a shining example. So, this got my attention. What else has Head Start done in the name of educational reform? Below is just one of the things I discovered:

Early Childhood Development Training and Technical Assistant Centers
Early Childhood Development Training and Technical Assistant Centers

What you see above is a program already in place for birth to 13 years of age! If you aren’t familiar with Head Start, it’s part of the U. S. Dept of Health and Human Services (one of the 3 main federal level departments involved in aligning education. Working with HHS are the U. S. Depts of Education and Labor) What this image shows us is another top down (federal to state to local) overreach. It shows us where our tax dollars are being used. It shows us how communities are being aligned right under our noses. If you look deep enough into these new centers, you can find pro CCSS funding groups like WestED; you can find international digital and data collectors like ICF International (where one of the main education consultants is a pro CCSS contributor*) You can also find the CCSS/CTE aligned Zero to Three program involved. How do I know the Zero to Three is pro CCSS/CTE? In my research. Here’s the original article I wrote:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/07/04/sic-em-saturday-pint-sized-common-core/  From this article, you can learn how Head Start, Bill Gates, Jeb Bush, and others are backing education reform to impact our youngest students. The American Association of Pediatrics is even helping out! You’ll also learn how the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) is involved for the purpose of total community alignment.

To learn more about the Head Start Centers,
http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ecd/interagency-projects/ece-technical-assistance
To learn about ICF Intertnational‘s education consultant, http://www.icfi.com/about/our-people/icf/b/branch-jeannine

To see the community alignment where P21 is contributing to all this,
 http://www.expandinglearning.org/expandingminds/article/upgrading-afterschool-common-sense-shifts-expanded-learning-digital-age

Bottom line technical detail: When you look at the language of the Student Success Act (HR5), the Every Child Achieves Act (S1177), and the upcoming bills which will impact higher education, mental health is most definitely being used against us with the goal of re-ordering how we feel, think, and, what we believe.

Technically Speaking, CCSS and Gun Control:

You have a foundation of compliance, a layer of mental health re-ordering for all involved, so where do the guns factor in? Think about all we’ve heard and seen in the homework examples where our Constitution is re-written. Consider the other social issues which have crept into our classrooms with rapid speed. Gun control is definitely in the mix. Here is the evidence of CCSS aligned lessons concerning guns.

ccssgun

To see this resource for yourselves, http://ww2.kqed.org/lowdown/wp-content/uploads/sites/26/2013/05/guncontrol_guide_final2.pdf
One noteworthy thing, the first ‘guided question’ doesn’t refer to the U. S. Constitution, instead, ‘rules and guidelines created over 200 years ago’.

Are there other resources for CCSS and the Second Amendment? Sure there are. Just conduct a general internet search for ‘Common Core gun control’ or “CCSS gun control”.
Think about how distorted CCSS is making every subject it touches. Consider that while the CCSS in our lives is illegally based (breaches the 10th Amendment, breaks at least educational laws), we’re seeing policies watered down, legislation created to support the CCSS Machine..not end it!

Bottom line technical detail: CCSS, by reshaping what is taught, what is to be believed, is killing our schools. It’s rendering them as workforce training centers, not academic learning centers. I urge you to look further into the mental health parts of the CCSS Machine’s agenda. Research Anita’s work, find Robin Eubanks‘ writing; listen to Charlotte Iserbyt, use the Women on the Wall calls, like last week’s:  https://soundcloud.com/alice-linahan/women-on-the-wall-conference-call-canisee-what-you-are-teaching-my-child-curriculum-audit (*Note: as soon as last night’s call is posted, I will be sure to add it in the comments section of this article)

FTF: More Tracking the Workforce Aligned Society

killsact

As promised, anti CCSS/CTE Warriors, here’s the article detailing more information on how our nation is slowly, but surely becoming a workforce aligned nation.  Over the weekend, if you read my “Weekend News”,  I shared 2 distinct graphics from the federal government’s Education and the Workforce Committee.  See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/27/weekend-news-tracking-the-ccsscteworkforce-aligned-society/

SKILLS Act? It’s a Law Now and It Has a New Name!:

In today’s ‘From the File Tuesday’, we’ll look at several legislative moves meant for the express purpose of aligning our nation. First up, the SKILLS Act (Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act). It’s bill number was HR803. It was put before Congress in the 2013-14 Session. According to the Library of Congress, HR803 has had 6 makeovers. The very first one appeared in Feb. 2013. Now, if you’ll remember, I shared with you over the weekend, that I’d tie the SKILLS Act to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014). Folks, you may already know this, or you may not. The tie? Quite simply, over the course of the Congressional ins/outs/swapping Chambers, etc. The SKILLS Act was renamed to become the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act!

(*Note: The WIOA became law in July 2015. One of my Nov. 2014 published articles detailed  information on how  legislation set in Washington trickled down to the state level and how the data collection in the name of Workforce was happening. If you’d like to see just HOW Workforce Data is handled in your state, see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/11/06/tech-thursday-workforce-commissions-education-and-common-core/)

When it was SKILLS:

When HR803 was known as “SKILLS”:
1) The bill (introduced by NC legislator Virginia Foxx)  ‘will empower employers, rein in bureaucracy, and provide America’s workers with a more dynamic, flexible, and effective network of job training services.”

2) The bill used a 2011 Government Accountability Office document, which reveals connections to  the 2009 “Recovery Act”. (remember this was the Act which gave us ‘shovel ready’ projects, Affordable Health Care, and a host of other changes?)
The document:  2011GAOreport

3) A program “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)” was included. Why is this important in 2015? Did WIOA keep this program? Expand it? Keep reading, my warriors!

4) The bill gave our governors even more power when it comes to workforce training programs. (If you’ve not seen any of my published work on just HOW far NC has gone to align education for the good of NC, here’s one where not only will you see the selling out of the citizens of NC to the Common Core, you’ll also get to see how the state used its grant money from the Workforce Quality Data (in the Nov. 2014 article above) : https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/08/27/ccss-follow-up-system-more-than-money-will-follow-your-students/

5) The bill also gave greater power to businesses (the ‘private’ in “public, private partnerships embedded in the CCSS Machine). All the ‘bonuses of HR803’ are included in this archived ‘fact sheet’. See: http://edworkforce.house.gov/uploadedfiles/short_bill_summary_-_skills_act_final.pdf

I give you these items so we can look at where these programs/efforts have been increased through the WIOA or other legislation (will include federal and state levels).

TANF:

The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families certainly sounds like a noble cause, and I’m sure for those in need, the help is appropriate. However, in the vane of aligning education for workforce needs, is it truly noble? To learn more about TANF, see their website: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ofa/programs/tanf
TANF is part of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (one of the 3 federal agencies using education as an alignment tool to reform America)
One of the features about TANF mentioned in that Government Accountability Report? The ‘one-stop-job-centers’ created by combining at least 2 programs. Here’s an excerpt, “Options that may increase efficiencies include colocating services and consolidating administrative structures, but implementation may pose challenges. While WIA Adult and ES services are generally colocated in onestop
centers, TANF employment services are colocated in one-stops to a lesser extent. Florida, Texas, and Utah have consolidated their welfare and workforce agencies, and state officials said this reduced costs and improved services, but they could not provide a dollar figure for cost savings.”

Did TANF get included in the WIOA (what SKILLS turned into)? You bet it did! Here’s a document called “Aligned by Design”: WIOA and TANF2015-06-Aligned-by-Design-WIOA-and-TANF

TANF funds include Title 4 funding for each state, Anita Hoge, a well known anti CCSS Warrior has shared many times how Title 4 funding is being abused to align our schools. The abuse WILL continue in the current Student Success Act (HR5), the Every Child Achieves Act (S1177), and the upcoming efforts toward re-authorizing the HEA (Higher Education Act).

In Kansas, TANF funds, the GED, and students highlight the stealthy Career Tech, College Readiness portions of CCSS. See the story: http://ksn.com/2014/12/11/state-focuses-on-g-e-d-and-tech-students/

In Utah, TANF funds are tying STEM (also connected to the CCSS Machine as one of the foremost nationally aligning efforts in education, workforce, and our nation) to the state’s Dept. of Workforce. See that story: http://ksn.com/2014/12/11/state-focuses-on-g-e-d-and-tech-students/

Here in NC, a TANF report will reveal how the state’s “Common Follow Up System” is involved in CTE for Workforce trained citizens. Access: NC TANF report

Monday Musings: “The Boys are Back in Town”

It's not exactly a secret that the U.S. Congress is back in session, BUT, will they stand up and fight for education?!
It’s not exactly a secret that the U.S. Congress is back in session, BUT, will they stand up and fight for education?!

It’s a busy day for all of us in this War Against the Core (Common Core, that is). We anti CCSS Warriors have been quite busy over the summer while the ‘debates’ ran on concerning the S1177 (Every Child Achieves Act) and while we listened as the House didn’t vote one ‘no’ against the HR5 (Student Success Act). Did we let up while Congress was away from Washington? If so, it’s time for us to crank up our volume again. We HAVE to..our entire nation is at risk!

While Congress was away, many of the anti CCSS Warriors who are helping lead this War, presented us with fact based evidence as to where in the ECAA, SSA the toxicity for America lies. If you’ve not seen those, I urge you to! Language has been written that would cause EVERY child to be an ‘at-risk’ student, therefore, causing ALL students to be on some sort of medical disability list and turning your schools into quasi-pysch wards! I’m including Anita Hoge’s research which includes page numbers of each bill so you can see for yourselves HOW each child is to be considered ‘medically needy’.

ALL students will be identified as “at-risk” allowing government access to ALL children under Common Core, Title I, and IDEA to receive mental health services, treatment, and interventions. [P.38 produce individual student interpretive descriptive, diagnostic reports consistent with (II) children with disabilities; pp. 17, 36, 41, 83, 87, 90, 93, 94, 113, 118, 122, 125, 131, 254, 365]

Psychological and psychiatric techniques will be employed to change the student’s psyche and personality to government qualities and these interventions are included in both bills: “Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Response to Intervention (RTI), Multitiered System of Supports, Functional Behavioral Assessment, Specialized Instructional Support Services,” with all techniques researched, validated and proven to change the values, attitudes, beliefs, and dispositions of your children toward Common Core attitudes, values, beliefs, and dispositions. (pp. 24, 120, 244 measure non-cognitive measures; pp. 58, 94, 119, 125, 243-244, 253, 367-368)”

To see the rest of HOW your student will be controlled and manipulated, see: http://www.newswithviews.com/Hoge/anita117.htm

My question to you, as a parent: Are you going to allow Rep. Kline’s HR5 and Sen. Lamar Alexander’s S1177 to pass so YOUR child can be turned into a CCSS drone?

With the proven facts that Sen. Alexander is ALSO behind the upcoming re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act), don’t expect the psycho-manipulation to end at 12th grade. No, it’s also written in the HEA, as well!

As recent as April 2015, the American Psychological Association (APA) is working hand in hand with the HELP (the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) to include much psychologically influenced parameters. Back in 2003, the Association published an article about it was their opportunity to help strengthen the HEA. Here’s an excerpt from that article, “For APA’s membership, HEA reauthorization is an opportunity to shine. We have a chance to make college more accessible, graduate study more affordable, careers in the public interest more pursuable and teaching more grounded in science. HEA is a good law–but one that can be made better if influenced and directed by psychology.” (*Note: to see the entire article,
http://www.apa.org/monitor/may03/ppup.aspx)

From this article, you are encouraged to see more of their advocacy in the HEA by going to a more specific website page. On that page are no less that 3 papers with Sen. Alexander’s name as the only one visible.  Why is this a big deal? Sen. Lamar Alexander is the chairman of the HELP committee!!

If you visit, http://www.apa.org/about/gr/education/news/2015/higher-education-act.aspx, you’ll see the 2015 efforts of how APA and HELP are working together. The first of HELP’s  ‘white papers’ deals with post-secondary accreditation. It is this paper you’ll find the CCSS/CTE  angle for which this psycho-manipulation is to occur at the beyond high school graduation? From what I can read, it’s the ‘accrediting process’. Read on, warriors!

” It wasn’t until the 1992 Higher Education Act Amendments that Congress defined in law the standards accreditors needed when assessing quality at institutions of higher education. Today, current law outlines 10 minimum standards: student achievement; curriculum; faculty; facilities; fiscal and administrative capacity; student support services; recruiting and admissions practices; measure of program length; student complaints; and compliance with Title IV program responsibility.” Then Alexander states this, “Accreditation serves dual roles as both a “gatekeeper” to federal funds and as a process for institutional improvement..”

The next section deals with student learning, academic rigor, issues geared toward OBE (outcome based education), and, their workforce readiness skills! There are other CCSS/CTE/CCR (Common Core State Standards, Career Technical Education, and College Career Readiness) rats woven into this white paper as well. If you read the entire document, you’ll find where it’s suggested that there becomes more national influence as opposed to regional; that all kinds of pro-CCSS/CTE ‘research’ is cited as credible evidence for reforming higher education. The list of other ‘rats’ goes on. However, it’s not until you get to the proposals, that you should really be able to see the big rat! ” options for consideration in the upcoming reauthorization of the Higher Education Act to redefine accreditation’s role, modernize our quality assurance system for 21st century learning, and provide accountability and reassurance to governments and the greater public.”

First will be the ‘refocus’ aspect (which has 4 goals..all supported by pro-CCSS/CTE ‘research’), then comes the ‘redesign’ aspect of higher education (this section has the biggest rats. Redefining Title 4 funding, doing away with regional entities, creating new education pathways which allow MORE P3 (public, private partnerships) to weigh in on what education should be. (again, look at the pro-CCSS/CTE groups used in the footnotes..these are the groups HELP is listening to!)

To see this paper: Accreditation

Oh, the other 2 HELP ‘white papers’ featured on the American Psychologists Association website? You’ll need to dive into those as well. The second one deals with ‘cohort graduations’, the “GED”, ‘skin-in-the-game’ reforms (one such is that colleges/universities become responsible for a students outcome..not the student), and more. Again, note the pro-CCSS/CTE/CCR backers cited in this paper. See: Risk_Sharing

The last one, will certainly tie back to more proven fact based research concerning the abuse of the FERPA law. It has to do with data mining (supposedly it’s transparent). If you look at the current HEA (2008), you’ll find in Section 113 (which is using Title 1 funding), you’ll see the parameters for databases in higher education. If you stop there, you’ll assume all is well; that your post-secondary student’s data is safe. However, look at Section 802 (under “additional programs”). The National Center for Research in Advanced Information and Digital Technologies is named. If you’re not familiar with the NCRAIDT, it is also known as “Digital Promise”. DP is ‘non profit’. Think they are free from the pro-CCSS/CTE group? Not a chance! See their current corporate partners: http://www.digitalpromise.org/initiatives/corporate-partnerships#current-partners

Digital Promise is used in K-Adult education. You can find your own evidence by looking at the “initiatives” section of their website.

To see the last of the 3 HELP papers: Consumer_Information

One of the last points I’d like to make about the HEA’s ties to the CCSS/CTE/CCR agenda is this. There are many other sections of the 2008 HEA which are foundations for MORE alignment to this illegally based and now, Congressionally ‘high-fived’ legislation we’re seeing in the current session! This is WHY it’s so important to call and STOP HR5, S1177. It was stated by Sen. Alexander is his gloating speech that what was being started in S1177 would be finished in the HEA’s re-authorization. Warriors, he was revealing the next area of educational overhaul! We CANNOT allow any student, no matter their age to be aligned anymore to the CCSS/CTE/CCR debacle.

Call Washington, D.C. now that Congress is back in session. Tell them ‘NO!’
The main switch board number is 202-224-3121. The main operator will ask with whom do you wish to be connected to.
For Senate and House Bill Status: 202-225-1772
If you want to call your legislator directly and do not have his/her number, use the following website to pinpoint them: http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

Closing note:
By the graphic at the top of the article, I was not excluding the female members of Congress. I was using the graphic to refer to the ‘good ole boy network’ attitude so noticeable in Congress. It is this ‘network’ which has allowed bad legislation like HR5, S1177, and the HEA to even exist. We, the citizens MUST not allow them to survive!

Tech Thursday: High School Equivalency, CCSS/CTE Style

The GED's (General Educational Development) makeover isn't new news, but what HAS been happening with it since the news broke?
The GED’s (General Educational Development) makeover isn’t new news, but what HAS been happening with it since the news broke?

No, the GED’s makeover ISN’T the biggest news at the moment in the War Against the Core. However, as we’ve seen in this fight to save our educational system from the massive agenda which accompanies it, WHAT has been going on SINCE the GED Makeover??

If your state is anything like the one I live in (NC), plenty. If you refer to the picture at the beginning of this post, you’ll not one, but 3 testing services now offer the NC HSET (North Carolina High School Equivalency Test). Your diploma will be awarded to you by the NC Community College System. The NC Community College System has ‘sold out’ to the Common Core Standards/Career Tech Education.

Before we look at the 2015 update, step back with me to gain a better context of HOW CTE and Common Core are related:

From 2014:

How do I know the NC Community College System has aligned itself to the CCSS Machine? Please refer to my  former article exposing the alignment:
Here’s an excerpt from the “Despicable Moves” article, “all 58 of NC’s Community Colleges are in tune with the businesses in our state. The “master plan”? Kindergarten-12th grades, as well as community colleges (those 4 yr colleges will be added soon, or so it is hoped) to have classroom lessons in tune with the jobs in manufacturing , finances, logistics and healthcare.” (the entire article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/09/tech-thursday-ncs-workforce-despicable-moves/ )

How do I know the rest of America’s Community Colleges are also aligned? Here’s an excerpt, “‘THE’ College Board involved with local community colleges. I hope this, because, it should continue to illuminate just how big of a grip on upper level education the group has. One part of the College Board’s organization is known as the Office of Community Colleges…. It is their job to work with local community colleges & help guide their decision making among other goals. The Board for the OCCI has many members. At least 2 are vocal about their support of & promotion the CC Standards in community colleges.  Kenneth Ender, Chair of the Advisory Board, “There is considerable work to be done to assure our K–12 curricula align with that of community college higher education. Our goal should be nothing less than assuring every high school graduate is prepared for postsecondary training and/or postsecondary education. The economy and workplace of the 21st century demands nothing less.” Nancy MacCallin, “If we do not address alignment of our K–12 and higher education systems, we will not be competitive in the global economy. Remediation needs of postsecondary students continue to worsen and need to be addressed in order to increase educational attainment. I hope to align assessment with the common core to provide an authentic assessment to ensure students move quickly through the remediation sequence and into a program that leads to a skilled workforce.”  (see the rest of the article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/09/18/tech-thursday-common-core-community-college/)

Step Back, Circa 2012:

Before NC could become so aligned in all that’s related to the Common Core, there had to be some states to be the ‘guinea pigs’ for post-secondary Career Tech Education. From 2012 (or close to it), this is what was happening, “Since CTE is a federal level national initiative, there will be all kinds of funding, programs, etc. To get us to this point in education reform, research had to be conducted. From what I’ve been able to find, there were 5 states of OR, CO,KS, MN, MA, were awarded funding to participate in Advancing Career and Technical Education (CTE) in State and Local Career Pathways Systems, a two-year project managed by Jobs for the Future through a contract with OVAE(Office of Vocational Adult Education, which, by the way, has been renamed to OCTAE or the Office of Career, Technical Adult Education). Technical assistance will be provided to assist these states in building their capacity to integrate CTE Programs of Study (POS) into their broader career pathways system development efforts.” (Read the rest of the article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/02/tech-thursday-ccss-career-pathways-and-workforce/)

Modern Day “Progress”:

Now that you’ve got a bit of context as to HOW the post-secondary CTE and the K-12 CCSS are related (if you need more evidence, I’ve got plenty, just let me know), let’s look at the current ‘progress’ via the High School Equivalency Test (aka the GED) from North Carolina. NC has 3 options, some states only have one or two options for measuring high school equivalency.

ETS’s HiSET: (Educational Testing Service), is a well known pro CCSS assessment maker, educational research entity and student data miner. According to their website for the HiSet, by offering you MORE options than every before for high school equivalency testing, you have greater opportunities! (see their encouragement letter to potential test takers,
http://hiset.ets.org/test_takers/letter/)

The ultimate goal in the equivalency test.
The ultimate goal in the equivalency test.

Other States using the HiSet are California(specific locations), Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Tennessee, and, Wyoming. (see: http://hiset.ets.org/requirements) The U.S. Territories are also in the CCSS/CTE ‘mix’. Click on the U.S. Territories tab to see their requirements.
To see the 2015 HiSet’s “Test at a Glance” pdf: 2015_taag

“GED”: Since GED is now a registered trademark owned by the American Council on Education (see this from their legal page, “The trademarks and logos used on our site identify our products and services and are owned by the GED Testing Service LLC or are used under license by GED Testing Service LLC. GED® and GED Testing Service® are registered trademarks of the American Council on Education (“ACE”)), much about the assessment has changed. For example, the main ‘selling point” as per their website can been seen below.

gedhype

The North Carolina Community College page shares that the “GED” is available in all 58 locations. Be sure to refer back to the fact that all 58 locations are tied to the CCSS Machine. (see above). Unlike the HiSet, “GED” is an anywhere, anytime assessment. See:
https://ged.com/how-it-works

The TASC (“Test Assessing Secondary Completion”):

This particular assessment is tied into MacGraw Hill’s CTB arm of assessments as well as the Data Recognition Corporation (DRC). See the links for much more information,
http://www.tasctest.com/about-ctb-for-educators.html
http://www.datarecognitioncorp.com/Pages/News%20Articles/news-3.aspx

Proof of the association can be seen in this screen shot:
tascbackers

TASC’s position on “Common Core” can be found in this excerpt, “TASC Test Item Types Reflect College and Career Readiness. Field tested and normed in 2013, the TASC test delivers the newest high school equivalency content available. It is aligned to Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) National College and Career Standards for Adult Education, Next Generation Science Standards, and Social Studies national frameworks.

Wait, I didn’t see “Common Core State Standards” in that excerpt. You’re exactly right. Here’s HOW the CCR(College/Career Readiness) and the CCSS (Common Core State Standards) are basically the same thing, “In April 2013, after the TASC test development was initiated, the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (now named the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education) completed a project identifying a subset of the Common Core State Standards most appropriate for adult preparation for college and/or careers and issued its report, “College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education.”  You can access the rest of the document from which the above excerpt was taken when you click on the provided link. It’s an alignment timeline plan from McGraw Hill’s CTB Plan. TASC_Test Transition Plan_Revised_May.11.2015

The NC Memo from the US Dept. of Education which connects the high school equivalency tests to FASFA (post-secondary financial aid) forms can be found at
 http://www.nccommunitycolleges.edu/sites/default/files/numbered-memos/cc15-001.pdf

How does that memo tie to the CCSS Machine? The makeover of the FASFA for one, the U.S. Dept. of Education is another, the NC Community College is next.

Not shown in the memo or any of the above is the NC Chamber of Commerce’s involvement in education, but it’s there for sure. It has to be. Why? Simply put, the NC Workforce combines education and businesses.
In Your State:

As you know I use NC as an example for you to see where in your state these CCSS/CTE/CRR ties are. However, here are some articles I have previously published which tie the national organization for Community Colleges, as well as others,  to all this aligned agenda. Please,  use these, share these! The re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act) will be upon us very, very soon! It is meant to be the second part of the re-authorization for education in America. It will directly follow up the re-authorized results of the K-12 education (Every Child Achieves Act/Student Success Act). Why? You cannot have complete education alignment that’s been stated as ‘cradle to career’ without our K-college system being distorted.

Every one of the links below is written from the national level of involvement, not just NC’s.

This ties so many ends of the CCSS Machine/Initiative together: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/25/sic-em-saturday-using-community-colleges-for-more-core/

A Parting Thought:

Anti CCSS/CTE Warriors, please note post-secondary education, no matter if it’s community colleges, for profit trade schools, on-line classes or certifications, public or private 4 year schools, every student who enters into them comes from a different educational choice. No education choice will be saved from the CCSS/CCR/CTE agenda as long as the illegally based initiative is allowed to survive.
