Not For The Faint Hearted

Author’s note: This article contains unpleasant material. Please remember, the evidence and research are provided for you to decide.  We must be prepared and informed Warriors, not reactive Warriors

Oh, my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors..We have seen so many awful things happen to education in the past few years together. We’ve seen an increase in the ‘workforce training’ being passed off as ‘academic prowess’.

We’ve seen shifts in how the attitudes, values, beliefs, and, thinking have become so twisted we may not recognize who our children are. Because ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) codified CCSS, we will continue to see unwelcome changes in our nation.

However, what’s changing our children right before our eyes?

Globalism, collectivism, Communism, Socialism, and…………

SATANISM

Because Globalism and all the other ‘isms’ are tied to Common Core (remember, the roots of CC are in the United Nations, which has  been traced to demonic activities and beliefs.)

Part of the ‘sales pitch’ surrounding all this? “Fun”. One of my previously published articles showed you how the ‘fun’ was a guise devised by Robert Muller to steer our children to workforce based education for a socialist benefit. While the article was pointing out how homeschoolers are being pulled into this.

Back in 2014, I wrote an article about Evil having no place in education. It shows you the awful connections between Bill Gates, UNESCO, the World Core Curriculum and the Lucifer Publishing Company.

However, it’s what follows, which is the truly unpleasant (downright disturbing) educational activities you need to know about.

ASSCs:

Warriors, that’s the abbreviation for the After School Satan Clubs in America. Maybe you remember the news from 2016 about the school district in GA which was being asked to start up an ASSC.

According to CBN’s (Christian Broadcasting Network) website, Clubs (as of 8/17) are in Los Angeles, Pensacola, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Tacoma and Springfield, Missouri. Below, in the screen shot, notice the ‘fun’ pictures used to draw our children’s attention to the ASSCs:

ASSCpic
(*Note, as of this writing, Satanic Temples are in TX, GA, NY, OR, CA, LA, FL, AZ, MA, CO, MI, and WA. Coming soon: MO and OK. Where there’s a Temple, the ASSCs will also be. According to all the sources, ASSCs are targeting similar Christian Clubs. I did not find any mention of any other faith based clubs being targeted.)

Warriors, according to all the information I found, these Clubs are available to all school choices, not simply public school children.  If the two smaller versions (above) don’t look ‘fun’ enough, look at the way the Satanic Temple ASSC’s page on their website has depicted the ‘mascot’:

hipdevil
Warriors, if you choose to investigate the website, notice that in the cartoon, the ‘hip devil’ is holding what resembles a candy cane.
I’ve provided you a look (below) at the permission slip with some added emphasis:

permitsevil

Why the red and orange circles? The CCSS Machine has gone to great pains to sell the nation on how ‘great’ the critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and character building are with the aligned curriculum and resources. These resources include after-school programs.

The 4Cs (collectivism, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity) are the anchors of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math). The 4Cs are the anchors of Common Core, Career and College Readiness, Next Gen Science, Career Tech Education, STEM, C3 (College, Career, and Civic Life) and whatever else CC’s been re-branded as (ie: “Future Ready”)

The 4Cs, College/Career Readiness, STEM, and all which connects them are embedded in ESSA, too! More globalism ties in ESSA include the “UDL”, Universal Design for Learning”, Universal Preschool, and, massive data mining to track students from cradle to grave.

You may also notice there’s a “Protect Children” campaign that also is a Satanic Temple project. It’s against corporal punishment. Below, is a picture of the letter they have available to send to your School Board against any type of corporal punishment, including isolation rooms:

protectchild
(*Note: from the “Protect Children” page, this disclaimer,Please note that this tactic has not yet been tested in court. If a student who registers is subsequently harmed and we launch a legal challenge, the State would need to argue that their right to abuse children supersedes the religious rights of students.”)

Warriors, the video contained in this undated  Newsletter is downright chilling. Not because of the images, the background ‘song’.

According to the Forbes article about the ASSCs, the writer also thought the video was chilling. Temper that with this article from the Federalist. It carries the tone of  ‘let’s step back a minute’. While I think what the author is sharing is worth listening to, I know, as a Mom, there is MUCH to be watchful of anytime Satan enters the picture.

Warrior Concerns:

Why did I include the video, if it’s so creepy?

1) We need to know! How can we protect our students from the CCSS Machine if we do not know all the ways IT seeks to destroy our children? After all, so much is available to them on-line. Have they seen this video?! We must know! It must be discussed.

2) Warriors, we need to understand with Satanism comes mind control and mental health concerns (The Temple has a group known as the Grey Faction).

3) I am not stating mental activities will be carried on during an ASSC gathering. But look at the ‘art’ pages below in the pictures. Strong mental images.

4) Knowing how damaging the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) is and how much of it is codified in ESSA, we should be VERY active in finding out what’s in our schools. With ESSA’s mandate for MORE after school, community wide programs, we MUST be very diligent in finding out what groups like the ASSCs are out there, how will they have access to your students? With the recent new appropriations from Congress which increase the amount of mental health ‘activities’ in/outside schools, we must DEMAND we be informed before any actions are taken!

For example, look below:

ASSCcolor
Warriors, let’s remember, the Clubs have access to young minds. Once they ‘see’ something like this (below), how will they ‘un-see’ it?? In 2014, I showed you a similar issue with a children’s book of ABCs.

asscmindimage

Warriors, this is the flag of the Satanic Temple from Facebook. Remember, they are the same group running the After School Satan Clubs:

ASSCflag
A Last Concern, based on Evidence:

Warriors, I know this is quite a bit to process. Believe me, I know. However, remember when I shared near the beginning that the CCSS Machine is rooted in the UN? So much of what’s above is also in the CCSS Machine. Is Satanism present in the United Nations?

From 2009, this article reveals the symbolism found in the New York headquarters. From 2016, this article from the New American Magazine ties the UN, Satanism, and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) together. The ‘common’ bond? It appears to be the combined efforts of Robert Muller and Alice Bailey (a known occultist).

Closing:

Warriors, due to the season we are in, so close to Halloween, keep a watchful eye for anything which seems to harm your family (pets included). We know the CCSS Machine is full of tricks. We know ESSA is no gift of greatness for our education system. We understand the dangers of any ideas which do not fit our family belief system, MUST not be indoctrinated.

Have You Heard?

My Fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors, have you ever heard of BARDA? I’ll be honest, I hadn’t. However, in looking at the Congressional Appropriations Bills (HR 3358 and S 1771) for the U.S. Depts. of Labor/Health and Human Service/Education, I discovered BARDA. Specifically, the ‘new-to-my-research’ agency was written into the S 1771’s Bill.

On Page 96, you’ll find under the heading of ‘Transfer of Funds‘ for the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, directives for where the NIH (National Institute of Health, a part of the HHS) could use some of the funds. Warriors, remember, these funds are our taxpayer dollars.

On Page 97, is where BARDA first shows up. “BARDA” stands for ‘Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority’.

P97
To access the Public Health Service Act, click here.

BARDA is part of the nation’s PHE System. PHE means Public Health Emergency.
**************************
We’ll look at the BARDA funding and research project near the close of this article. For now, we need to see how, if, at all BARDA plays into the CCSS Machine’s overreach in education.
*************************

Thought:

Warriors, with the word ‘biometrics’,  is there more BARDA does than simply prepare us for the worst scenarios? We know ‘biometric’ devices are used to monitor the SEL (social emotional learning) and have been tied to Common Core.

Question:

Now that ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is the law, will biometrics continue to be used? Back in March 2017, I published an article about some (then) current Congressional Bills. Related to them? A 2011 biometric study! Be sure to access this more recent article about the SEL and special needs students via ESSA.

biometricstudy
When I typed in ‘Social Emotional Learning’ into the PHE’s BARDA search bar, what you see below, is what I got back in results.

Warriors, please note I am NOT saying we do not need emergency plans, especially in our schools. BUT, my question is simply this, where does the emergency planning end and the SEL manipulation begin?

Answer #1:

bardasel

Warriors, some of the ‘red flags’ I saw in the highlighted resource in the screen shot above were: all States have behavioral health partners/plans. The plans are to cover emergencies, the partnerships go a bit deeper than ’emergencies only’. Some of these partners happen to be some of the very same ones which have rubbed stamped Common Core, support STEM, have Career Tech Education, or, are CCSS Machine member organizations in on approving the SEL overreach in education!

You can access the 2016 document, here.
(*Note: back in 2014, I wrote how SAMSHA was using Common Core as a tool for gun control via “Project Aware”; in 2015, this article about mental health and the manipulation of it in education for workforce needs. Then, in 2016, this article gives you a big run down of the federal level of overreach in not only mental health with agencies like SAMSHA, but many others!)

In the 2016 Document (above), look for the bottom of Page 14, ‘federal behavioral health support usually involves the provision of technical assistance, educational resources..’ (‘technical assistance’, more times than not, means data mining in some form)
Page 15, an inter-agency council for behavioral health: Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Emergencies. This Forum is a P3 (Public Private Partnership). It’s been around since 2007.

More Answers:

Below, are related documents from each of the major groups listed in the screen shot tie directly to ESSA, SEL, and/or behavior interventions OUTSIDE of disasters or emergencies!

Answer #2) https://www.nasmhpd.org/sites/default/files/the-business-case-for-behavioral-health-prevention.pdf (Uses CASEL ( Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning), WHO (World Health Organization), OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development), and other big name CCSS Machine members as ‘credible’ research sources)

Answer #3) http://nasadad.org/2015/03/state-substance-abuse-agencies-program-management-and-data-utilization-case-studies-of-eleven-states/ (from 2013, how 11 States were already sharing data across State lines and using the National Outcomes Measure model and connecting it for data mining. *Note: this organization is also the one involved with opioids. Warriors, as we know more students are being prescribed opioids and other behavior managing drugs.)

Answers #4 a, b, c) http://www.apa.org/pi/about/newsletter/2016/03/student-act.aspx (use this to find the 2 ESSA supportive documents from 2016)

Also from the APA is the 2017 Annual meeting syllabus. “School” is mentioned 57 times in the topics/presentation notes. I noticed at least 2 on ADHD.

To get to the Skinner referring article(s) from the APA, go here first (this is a research paper on a study of behavior interventions tested on college students), then visit here. (this is one of the few cited sources from the study on college students. It’s where Skinner’s education theory is mentioned.)

Answers #5 a and b) https://www.socialworkers.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=mLtr0q6HLnA%3d&portalid=0 (NASW’s support for ESSA document. Be sure to note the long list of other supporting groups.)

Also from the NASW, an entire page of ‘school’ related social work information for you, Warriors.

Answer #6) To access the Behavior Health Consortium (in the screen shot above), go here.

Answer #7) The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Press’s Disaster Publication has all kinds of partnerships and programs which you may find interesting.

Answer #8) Warriors, we know the educational shift is all about money, so do not be too shocked when you see the picture below:

Getting back to BARDA:

This 2014 article likens BARDA to a venture capital group hidden in DC.
Warriors, we know how toxic venture capitalists have been in education. Where health and education intersect is probably just as bad.

As far as the 10 year contract mentioned in S 1771 for BARDA? It appears that is a continuation of a project which began back during President Bush’s (the first) administration. It’s known as Project BioShield, (PB).
From the Strategic Plan (2011-2016) for PB, an increase in public private partnerships (P3s); 21st Century skills; a workforce steeped in science and technology (which of course means STEM education and STEM jobs); and, all which connects them.

Warriors, the PB price tag is in the billions. (*Note: refer to the highlighted “Bush” above. When that document opens, look to your right for ‘funding’).

Two resources for more about Project BioShield can be accessed here. Johns Hopkins (a known CCSS Machine member) and Oxford Press have articles.

STEM Endorsed by PHE:

Warriors, remember that BARDA is under the Public Health Emergency (PHE) arm of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. I was able to find on the PHE’s blog, not only an endorsement for early emergency preparation by studying STEM in 2017, but how the PHE is working in the context of a 17 year (began 2009) partnership for global health.

As we know from research, global health is part of the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). STEM is a part of the SDGs, as well as part of the CCSS Machine.

Closing:

Warriors, S 1771 and its partner Bill HR 3358 lock in all the funds for things like BARDA and more educational overreach on 10/7/17. The LAST day to raise any challenge is 10/6/17. IF you’ve not contacted your Senator or Representative about the massive amounts of overreaching taxpayer-abused-funds. Please hurry!

Why Have Goals?

Warriors, in my “Purse Strings” article, you were promised a follow-up article further looking at the connections between SEL (Social Emotional Learning), the SMART Goals, and, the HARD Goals.

Briefly, before we get to that follow-up information, I’d like to point out something I didn’t in the original article. The connections between who funds each of these types of activities in each of our States is worth looking into. However, don’t only look at the wealthiest folks, but look at their foundations. Look at the traditionally conservative or liberal policy think-tanks. Are there connections between these groups? Are there partnerships? A great conservative example is the AFC (American Federation for Children). Besty DeVos has been instrumental in AFC’s work in the States. Does AFC have an affiliate in your State? As far as an liberal example, try to see if your State has any affiliate offices for the Center for American Progress (CAP).
(*Note: A resource I found where the political spectrum of policy groups is featured is the Citizens Source.)
Also, what PACs (Political Action Committees) are active in education in your State?
More information about PACs and how they are broken down can be found at OpenSecrets.com.

Why We Need to Know The Money Trail:

ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) not only mandates MORE P3s (public private partnerships), it will reward them for overreaching into education!
Find out what are they supporting or funding in the War Vs. the Core.

SEL, Grit, SMART, HARD, And American Education:

To quickly review the connections between these  encompass the global education design for “grit”. Meaning, all education must be a certain way in order to be deemed as ‘successful’. Put another way, per the NC ESSA State Draft Plan (I found it in other State Plans as well), ‘grit’ is for ‘college and career readiness’ (CCR). CCR is another phrase for ‘post-secondary readiness’! See the evidence here.

By passing WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) in 2014, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds) and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)Acts in 2015, renewing the HEA’s (Higher Education Act) funding in 2015, our federal government has done a ‘bang up’ job of mandating we’ll see MORE grit, SEL, SMART, and HARD parameters in ALL educational levels.

Here are two visuals to explain SMART Goals and HARD Goals:

You’ll find plenty of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Revelant, and Trackable) and HARD (Heart-felt, Animated, Required, and Difficult) in every digital resource your students encounter.  All those ‘personalized courses’ are an example.

Teachers will also face the same constraints. HOW? Professional Development in ESSA mandates teachers and other educational leaders MUST be credentialed in everything post-secondary readiness so their students can measure up. Teachers/leaders/students will be collectively graded on how successful what is taught and learned. It’s called whole school grading. ESSA will reward or punish States where schools do not measure up. Likewise, teachers/leaders will be rewarded or punished if not properly credentialed or badged.

Here are some vital resources you’ll need for SMART and HARD Goals:

1) As we know, there’s a 2013 U.S. Dept. of Education publication about GRIT.
It unabashedly connects CCSS to SEL. Find it here.  (*Note: you’ll find mega bucks Bill and Melinda Gates had a huge hand in helping create this document.)

2)  SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) Goals. Originally designed for business, it appears they’ve made their way into education.  Here’s a document from the State of VA. It’s from the Human Resources Dept of the University of VA. It’s clearly visible this document was for use in higher education.

Warriors, we know higher education has been overrun with corporate/federal interference to help embed that cradle to grave stream global education needs for all citizens. I’ve covered this multiple times here on my blog. WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and HEA (Higher Education Act) are tools for this. ESSA’s the same.

3) What happens when GRIT and SMART are combined? Find it here.
3a) From CA, a 6th grade Career Roadmap using SMART.

4) Below, Lifelong Learning Labs has this definition of SMART for education. As you can see it’s not too far removed from the business model (‘SMART’ in business stands for Specific, Measurable, Achieveable, Realistic, and Timely.). LLL also calls SMART Goals ‘mind tools’.

5) From the Science and Arts School at the University of PA, the 12 Point GRIT Scale used in classrooms across America.
************************************************************
HARD Goals supposedly are to make your brain engage and cause your performance levels soar..at least in the business world. According to this blog article about HARD Goals, the concept has been around a long time. These are to be the ‘softer’, more personal skills you have or can groom in others. According to this same article, Leadership IQ’s Mark Murphy has created the latest acroynm. So, who is Murphy? From his Leadership IQ website, this excerpt about his ties to the CCSS Machine and global workforce/education.
With a reputation for brilliant, yet immediately actionable, insights about leadership, he’s trained leaders at the United Nations, Harvard Business School, the Clinton Foundation, Microsoft, MasterCard, SHRM, and hundreds more organizations.  Mark leads one of the world’s largest leadership skills studies, and his work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, Forbes, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and U.S. News & World Report. Mark has also appeared on CNN, NPR, CBS News Sunday Morning, ABC’s 20/20, and Fox Business News.” Source

1) According to Tony Gurr, he created HARD Goals for education/teaching back in 2012.
His blog entry reveals he ‘borrowed’ Mark Murphy’s business model. See it here. Gurr’s based in Turkey, by the way. According to his LinkedIn profile, he’s got his finger on the HARD/SMART, English Language Learning (ELL) and, English Language Teaching (ELT) education reform. See his ties to Dubai, too. Gurr’s a presentor in this on-line course for teachers available to all education choices.

2) From the “Read Less, Do More” website, Murphy’s summary on how HARD goals are to be used. Read this and see if you do not recognize some of the techniques used in classrooms.

3) If you don’t have time to read the summary, look below for a visual example of HARD goals from 2014. Entire Slide Share presentation, here.

HARDgoals

Warriors, ‘personalized learning’ uses SEL, GRIT, SMART, and HARD!

4) Murphy’s lastest article on HARD vs SMART for Forbes, states both are best for career development. Knowing how aligned to this mandate ESSA is, look for more of this type of BS in classrooms.

5) Tying Grit to Education Savings Accounts, will not only encompass personalized learning, but CBE (Competency Based Education). Big money groups in our States fund these! A ‘leader’ in this is The Jeb Bush Foundation for Excellence in Education. However, FEE is hardly the only big-buck-group in this education reform. Here’s a previously published article where I laid it all out for you.

Closing:

Warriors, I hope between the strings and goals I’ve presented for you in the 2 related articles, you can get an idea that ‘local control’ as promised by the CCSS Machine is a big, fat lie. Locally controlled education should not have nebulous purse strings or someone else’s business modeled priorities as the guiding framework. Local education should be OF the people, BY the people, and, FOR the people.

One truth you can still share with your State’s leaders/funders, etc. is that this federal statute is STILL being broken every day ESSA’s implementation continues. Every day WIOA’s workforce ursurping of education continues, furthers this breach. With the HEA being re-written, the egregious overreaches will continue. Will your State speak up?!

US fed statute

No Strings Attached?

Warriors Against Fed Ed, we’ve seen the influence of money in the modern education reform. We’ve seen our tax dollars used in ways to spur this reform on at a break-neck speed. It’s also not new news that big business has spent a fortune pumping their money into the effort to re-shape education…and thus, re-shape our nation.

We also know that Common Core (in its old name OR under any of its re-brands) is part and parcel of EACH of our States. So, what happens when you:

A Map Paints The Picture:

Forbes’ State by State 2016 List also gives you clues as to who and what groups help run your State. As we’ve learned he/she who holds the purse strings more than likely interferes in education/workforce in your backyard. (*Note: you can access a full size map like the one below on Forbes’ website.)

richdoesntmeanright
I urge you to look at the List. Some of the education reformers will be super easy to spot. For example, Bill Gates in Washington.

Others will be obvious to only a few folks. For example, you’ve heard of SAS, Inc.’s involvement in data mining for the CCSS Machine, but would you know the name of the owner? It’s James Goodnight and he’s from NC.

Then, there are other rich citizens who’ve created foundations by which to conduct their reform agenda, especially in education. For example, Vermont’s John Abele has the Argosy Foundation which funds the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Competitions in schools. You’ll find STEM and CCSS being promoted without abandon in these activities. Look below, Warriors. Agenda..right in plain sight and dressed as fun.

FIRST
Warriors, these men are far from the only ones in the CCSS Machine. Argosy isn’t the only Foundation, either.

Below, find my list of the people and their organizations I think are the ones we should really look into. It will expand what I’ve revealed for you above. Are these, people ALSO helping the education reform agenda?!

NM: Marbob Energy/Mack Energy and the Chase Foundation (ties to Mack C Chase)
NH: JAB Holding, Inc (global and ties to Andrea Reimann-Ciarcelli)
ME: Dexter Shoes/Berkshire Hathaway (Bill and Susan Alfond who are tied to Warren Buffett)
UT: Salt Lake City Community College’s Board Chair, Gail Mitchell (also ties to Toyota and NBA)
SD: Sandford Harmony’s education program by T. Denny Sandford. (also ties to global credit)
RI: Providence Equity Partners (ties to Jonathan Nelson and for-profit Education Management)
SC: InterTech Corp (ties to Anita Zucker and her heavy Charleston Chamber of Commerce activity)
PA: Campbell’s Soups (ties to Amery alice D. Malone, global food markets)
OH: Victoria’s Secret and others (ties to Les Wexner and family; especially the Columbus Partnership’s grasp on the economy)
IL: Citadel Hedge Fund (ties to Ken Griffin, global trade)
HI: Ebay/PayPal (ties to Pierre Omidyan and his Network)
MO: Stanley Kronenke (ties to NFL/UK Soccer and Wal-Mart)
AZ: Discount Tire Co. (ties to Bruce Halle and his Halle Foundation’s focus on higher education)
TN: Hospital Corp. of America (ties to Thomas Frist and family; global and political connections)
NJ: Advance Publications (ties to Donald Newhouse and connects to Time-Warner Cable. T-W was recently re-branded as Spectrum. T-W is also in the CCSS Machine.)
CO: DISH Network (ties to Charles Ergen and LightSquared)
MA: Fidelity Mutual Funds (ties to Abigail Johnson and global trade)
CT: Bridgewater Associates Hedge Funds/Dalio Foundation (ties to Ray Dalio). Dalio pumps big bucks into CT’s public education as well as participates in global grant giving.
WY: Mars, Inc (think Mars Candy/Pedigree pet food, etc.) ties to the Mars Family. I published an article about their association with the Sustainability/STEM/CCSS goals.
NV: Sands Casino (ties to the owner, Sheldon Adelson who is said to bankroll the GOP)
*Given that CCSS is NOT a one-political party issue, we should bear in mind our Congress is GOP majority.
TX and AR: Wal-Mart (ties to the remaining Walton family members). Wal-Mart openly has backed the CCSS Machine for years.

As we’ve learned, these educrats and reformers have been stragetically placed in each and every State in America. IF you didn’t see the State you live in, do not assume it is without it’s ties. They ARE there.

We also know they reach beyond our borders and encompass the globe. After all, the CCSS goal is united to the UNESCO’s design for “Education for All”.  Resource for EfA Goals.

Related: Also, back in 2016, I layed out the “Pied Pipers” in our States.  A chilling Forbes article was also featured in my research. If you missed it, I urge you to read it.

2017’s Global Richest:

For consistency, I’ll stick with Forbes’ list here. Among the global ‘leaders’, Warriors, you’ll find Buffet, Koch, Gates, and Zuckerburg (with others) from the USA. But, you’ll see Australia, China, Vietnam, and many other nations. As we know, some are easy to connect to the global education reform. Others, will not be as evident. However, look at what makes their big bucks. Digitally based trading means data mining. Manufacturing means jobs/economy. You can easily trace money trails, as we’ve learned by the phrase ‘follow the money’.
*Note: back in 2014 Education Dive published an article discussing how these mega-buck-laden-people were shaping education. Was it USA specific? Or, even then, were the global roots showing? You decide.

SEL Will Combine HARD and SMART:

Warriors, by now, we should recognize another global shift in education, SEL (Social Emotional Learning). It’s ripe in Common Core, it’s increasing in content, largely due to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) becoming law, AND it isn’t going away. SEL is also deeply rooted in the UNESCO’s Sustainability Development Goals and in the USA’s SCANS Report (1990s). Look below:

sdscans

Closing:

Warriors, I hope you’ll join me in the next article where I’ll pick up the trail connecting SEL to SMART Goals and HARD Goals. It’s quite a revealing piece.

For now, take what you’ve learned from here. Look deeply in your State’s coffers. Are any of these CCSS Machine players there? If so, expose it!! If you have any anti CCSS/fed ed, or Public Private Partnership information connecting any of these people/groups, please share it here, if you like. We have everything to gain in protecting our students when we cut the purse strings.

Ed For Sale

Greetings Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors! The Weekend News is here! What can we learn from the CCSS Machine? In a short sentence: how the global education business market is growing.

A Recent Webinar:

Just a few days ago, I was among many who joined in a pro CCSS backed group’s webinar for how educational business/services can a) capitalize on the recent passage of (Every Student Succeeds Act, ESSA); b) go global with education; c) make big sales for their companies; and d) drive education as we know it straight down the tubes.

Which group was hosting? The Gates Foundation funded EdWeek, of course! What global educational consulting firm also joined the frey? The ISC (International School Consultancy). If you haven’t heard of ISC, they are based in the United Kingdom and are the oldest global education consulting group of their kind. Because of this, it was shared in the webinar, the ISC has the historical educational data to back why going global is a great thing for all of us. Among the nations attending this webinar, the most were from the U.S.A., while the next 2 biggest attendees were the U.K. and the United Arab Empire.

About 2 months ago, EdWeek launched its Marketplace, where educational business, services, and those seeking such, can get information. I was invited to join the Marketplace, so I could get all kinds of research. However, at $750.00, I decided to pass. Besides, why in the world would I support the Gates Foundation’s backed group by purchasing their research?

It was the Marketplace portion of EdWeek presenting in this webinar. According to Kevin (from Marketplace), the virtual store is where gaps of what K-12th education needs meet business providers. Thus a harmonious bridge is created. Aren’t we so lucky….Among some of the provisions are Next Generation Science Standards/Assessments, Data Mining tools, etc. Kevin also stated the ESSA is for business ‘a canary in a coal mine’ opportunity. WiseGeek.org says that for governments and businesses the phrase means a ‘harbinger of the future’. (See: http://www.wisegeek.org/what-does-it-mean-to-be-a-canary-in-a-coal-mine.htm)

According to one of the slides from the Webinar, Bill Gates has predicted the education businesses (especially digital) will increase by 50% or $1.1 billion dollars. Driving the sales? Ed Tech (supposedly higher quality education/more personalized learning/evidence based results based on proven technology)

What I Have Seen/Heard:

As one who has researched the stuffing out of the ESSA, I can tell you, the increased amount of P3s (public private partnerships), businesses/educational services will increase dramatically. LEAs (local education agencies) and SEAs (State Education Agencies) will be able to open their federally provided funds up to anyone offering any type of business/service which can be related to student success (aka: student outcomes, competency based mastery, college and career readiness, post-secondary readiness, and student achievement).

Warriors, we should NOT be the last to know this information! Why do I say this?
a) The EdWeek Research arm recently partnered with the National School Superintendent’s Association to conduct a study on ESSA friendly PD (Professional Development).  I have shared with you in the past how aligned to CCSS, the School Supers Association is.
b) a recent meeting I attended hosted by the North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction was full of folks from P3s either imploring the DPI for ESSA federal funds or employing more people from those P3s (and new ones) for educational purposes! Among the most sought after? SEL (social emotional learning) My point? The pro side is wasting NO time in getting the message out. Since the state I live is in already hopping on the bandwagon, yours probably is too!

More We Need to Know From Both Hosts:

The CCSS/ESSA slanted Webinar also shared the following information:

1) Educational business and services are golden opportunities for America.
2) School leaders WANT more personalized learning (as based off Digital Promise research). (*Note from my research: Digital Promise is a huge portion of ESSA.)
3) With more personalized learning comes better data tracking via student CBE (competency based education) progress.
4) SC, MS, ND, KY, and KS lead the nation in ELL (English Language Learning) digital education content.
5) Professional Development for teachers is slowly embracing the digital shift.
6) OERs (Open Educational Resources) are popular with teachers now and are better aligned to the CCSS than previous resources. OERs also are a great business profit maker because your company can help purchasers save school funding.
7) The ESSA will give educational businesses not only more money, but give schools better accountability, too. (*Note from my research: ESSA’s main damaging points are the national assessments, the accountability of the States to the U.S. Dept. of Ed and the funding which unites all this.)
8) Non-academic education businesses/services will also have opportunities to cash in.
9) Consider all of the above as opportunities for experimentation in education, especially how our students/teachers are measured.
10) EdWeek is helping the gradual building of international education marketing and trends. In 2015, around $15.2 billion was made by those participating. ISC shared that the tuition market for profits is about $39 billion and will increase to near $90 billion by 2026. Fee based education is a huge portion of the global education aspect. All this means the global economy is very healthy and that enrollment population is increasing.
11) English is being considered the language of business, therefore the need for ELL alignment is paramount for globally recognized credentials. In the screen shot below, notice the EMEM (Engish-Medium Education Market). This is something we will see increase via ESSA and other moves.

iscglobal

12) Global education has 4 benefits, the top 2: labor/quality learning
13) Inclusion is a top need for those being globally educated. Globally educated students are best fed by curriculum which supports inclusion.
14) There are over 200 International School Associations.
15) UAE (United Arab Empire) leads the world in the most international schools.
16) Curriculum trends find that UK based resources and IB (International Baccalaureate) are among the most used. (*Note from my research: IB Curriculum is not only UN/UNESCO based, it’s main contributor is a noted leftist.)
17) ISC noted that the most measured global assessments they track are the IGCSE*, the IB Diploma Program, the PSAT and SAT, and the GCEA*. (*IGCSE stands for “International General Certificate of Secondary Education”.) The University of Cambridge developed this over 25 years ago. To learn more:
 http://www.cie.org.uk/programmes-and-qualifications/cambridge-secondary-2/cambridge-igcse/
(*GCE stands for General Certificate of Education; the GCEA, from what I can find refers to only one level of GCEs. There are GCE-As, GCE-A2 levels. Combined, the 2 levels have 31 career based tracks you can earn your Certificate in. There is also a GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education). There are 41 career based tracks available at the secondary level.)

FTF: A Chip off The Education Block

Sure, you've heard of private schools, but have you heard of 'micro' schools?!
Sure, you’ve heard of private schools, but have you heard of ‘micro’ schools?!

Anti CCSS Warriors, we have another education reform ‘wannabe’. Consider it a chip off the old CCSS Machine’s block.. What AM I talking about?! “Micro Schools”, of course! If you haven’t heard of them, that’s okay, I recently discovered these schools, too.
One other question we will address is how this ties back to the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act).

So, What is a ‘Micro School’?

I found out about them via the Gates Foundation supportive, CCSS Machine member: Ed Week. (See: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2016/01/27/micro-schools-could-be-new-competition-for.html?r=608439843&cmp=eml-enl-eu-news1-RM)

Like its name, these schools are small in size (typically no more than an entire school population of 150). Unlike traditional schools, micros have all the students in one classroom.  While the article suggests these schools are like the old-fashioned one room schoolhouses, there is absolutely NOTHING old fashioned about the agenda behind these small schools. As an anti CCSS Warrior, see if you can catch the agenda the CCSS Machine has laced through these modern minis.

AltSchools, the Supposed Leader in Micro Schools:

This group is mentioned in the article I have linked you to (above). You can access their website, https://www.altschool.com/
From their ‘About Us’ page, their mission statement begins with, ” AltSchool is a collaborative community of micro-schools that uses outstanding teachers, deep research, and innovative tools to offer a personalized, whole child learning experience for the next generation.”
(*Note, be sure to watch the embedded video with the smiley faced guy.)
You should love the fact he is a businessman now involved in education. While that doesn’t seem so bad, listen to his pro CCSS companies he rattles off. (example: Google) Don’t miss his plug for project based learning (which is rooted in another progressive, pro CCSS Machine member, The Buck Institute. (my previously published look at PBLs:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/sic-em-saturday-ccss-progressives-and-pbls/ )

Currently, AltSchools are in CA, NY, IL. To see the AltSchool locations in their entirety,
https://www.altschool.com/about-us#our-parents
(*Note, be sure to click on one of the existing locations to look at the floor plan. You will see what many other traditional schools are doing, totally transforming them to be open locations with centers.)

The curriculum? Forget about seeing your student as a person, this group is after “T-shaped learners”.  What the heck is a “T-shaped learner”? An excerpt, “…Students who have a wide breadth of knowledge across all subjects and depth in the subjects that they are passionate about. In addition to cultivating strong social-emotional skills, AltSchool students build competency across core academic areas: math, science, English language arts, and social studies. Through our before- and after-school co-curricular offerings, students delve even deeper into subjects of interest, including drama, arts, coding, and foreign languages.”
The educators? All 21st Century ones. See the entire description of both curriculum and educators, https://www.altschool.com/education#curriculum
(*Note: the heavy use of technology and the reference to aligning to the most recent education discoveries.)
From the FAQs, this loaded statement of CCSS Machine groups in the curriculum:
‘AltSchool’s learning objectives draw from a variety of standards and metrics as a framework for instructional design. Our Lower and Middle School instruction is informed by the Common Core, National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Next Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), among others.’

Helping fund AltSchools? Facebook and Apple owners! Yep,  these two pro CCSS Machine members even made the news about their investments. See: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/05/04/altschool-scores-100-million-from-mark-zuckerberg-and-others/26740867/
(*Note: be sure to read where the AltSchool founder reveals that there are non-profits and other investors on board as well.)

Other financial backers? “Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, Harrison Metal, John Doerr, Jonathan Sackler, Learn Capital, Omidyar Network, and other leading investors.” To learn more about why these investors are lining up in huge support of AltSchools, you will need to see the AltSchools Press Release from 2014. It explains that the schools are a ‘certified B organization’. What does THAT mean? Heavy on social justice issues with a large collective mindset. See the entire press release: https://www.altschool.com/press-release-11-17-14

Want to better understand what a B Organization truly is? As an anti CCSS Warrior, you will be quick to pick up on the main themes, the global aspects, and the money to be made.

New Orleans, TX, and Globally: Micros Coming Soon!

Also included in the featured EdWeek article about AltSchools, were the facts that New Orleans public charters are considering the AltSchool way of education; that at least one private school in TX is already involved (since 2009); that  Catholic schools could be well served; how  comprehensive high schools could learn from AltSchools; and, that several non-USA locations are benefiting from AltSchools.
Warriors Against the Core
, are you seeing the pattern?

Not included in the NAIS:

AltSchools, according to the EdWeek article are not being tracked by the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools), so there may be many MORE micro schools in the world. However, my question is, are AltSchools accredited at all? One CBS interview from 2015, reveals the groups is in the process of becoming accredited. See: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/altschool-alternative-education/
Anti CCSS Warriors, do you recognize an issue here?

As Far as How This Plays into the ESSA:

Besides the red flags I have recently raised about the ESSA and technology/data/digital, the AltSchools have all sorts of CCSS Machine ties to overlook or assume they won’t be part of the ESSA written educational future in America. All this said, the AltSchools are considered ‘alternative education’. That phrase is most definitely used in the ESSA.

Tech Thursday: Lifelong Skills or Lifelong Sentence?

Think this is alignment? Wait until you read the fine print in their publications.

Anti CCSS Warriors, the above picture is one I featured in a previous article, but serves my topic for today very well.

Since the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is now law,  CCSS (Common Core State Standards) will NOT be a phrase you see. BUT it will be there all the same. The name has changed, but the agenda is STILL the SAME!

We know the new law uses ‘college and career readiness’, “challenging state academic standards”, STEM, and “Career Tech Education”.

Since the CCSS Machine (which includes all the OTHER names of CCSS, as well as the government involvement and the private businesses in bed with them) is so great at the ‘confuse them with a name change’ tactic, it will not surprise me to see even more new phrases being used as code for Common Core State Standards!

One example that you may, or may not, of seen/heard:   “Lifelong Learning Skills”

Before we move into where I found this ‘new’ phrase, look at a dictionary’s entry for the word “lifelong”:  lasting or remaining in a particular state throughout a person’s life

Anti CCSS Warriors, did you catch that? “Remaining in a PARTICULAR state “. When applying this definition to ‘learning’, I do not think it means what the CCSS Machine wishes you to believe it says!

Think about it, if we are to be educated and truly learning something, it will be impossible to remain in the same state of learning throughout one’s life.  As we grow and mature, so does our learning capacity, as intended. However, we have seen enough evidence which is credible to know ANYTHING connected to the CCSS Machine’s educational reform of America will NOT give our students the foundation necessary for natural brain development or learning which will help them mature naturally.

So just where did I find this “Lifelong Learning Skills” used in relation to the ‘Common Core State Standards’ alter personality “College and Career Readiness”? The College and Career Readiness and Success Center (CCCRS) housed in AIR (American Institutes of Research)!

In preparing for one of my latest radio interviews, I found this 2015 Report from the College and Career Readiness driven entity.  AIR is funded by many pro CCSS/CCR/CTE groups. At the top: the U.S. Dept. of Education!

You might like to know that the CCRS also has an overview guide for each of the states which had defined what ‘college and career readiness’ meant back in 2014. We know CCSS is NOT preparing our students for colleges and it is creating paths etched in confinement for careers.

Much like anything else the CCSS Machine has ground out in propaganda, the phrase ‘college and career readiness’ is hot air. So, how dumb does the CCSS Machine think Americans are? Dumb enough to think a name change will be enough to pacify us!

To see the College and Career Readiness and Success Overview Guide (2014) of what college and career readiness is defined by state by state:
CCRS Defintions Brief_REV_1

What you will find in this Report are the 6 reoccurring themes which include MORE exaggerated language. You find ‘grit and perseverance’ among the six themes.
It is important to note that there are many other themes, but this 6 are repeated state-by-state more than the others. Where have we heard the ‘grit’ phrase before? It was included in the U.S. Government Report titled “Promoting Grit, Tenacity, and Perseverance: Critical Factors for Success in the 21st Century”.

Also of note, not every state had a college and career readiness definition in this Overview. For example, the state I live in, NC, was not included. So I searched for what the definition is and found that it is almost  the same as another state not included in the 2014 Overview either! To see the almost word for word copies, I give you the two states I compared, NC and FL.

Here is FL’s definition from their State Dept. of Education, Students are considered college and career ready when they have the knowledge, skills, and academic preparation*  needed to enroll and succeed in introductory college credit-bearing courses within an associate or baccalaureate degree program without the need for remediation. These same attributes and levels of achievement are needed for entry into and success in post-secondary workforce education or directly into a job that offers gainful employment and career advancement.” (the star denotes that you will need to follow another link to see what parameters ‘knowledge, skills, and academic preparation’ are to the FL DofEd) See the rest:
http://www.fldoe.org/schools/higher-ed/fl-college-system/college-career-readiness.stml

Here in NC’s definition as featured on the Hunt Institute’s website. Set in motion since 2014, “In North Carolina, students are considered career and college ready when they have the knowledge and academic preparation needed to enroll and succeed, without the need for remediation, in introductory college credit-bearing courses in English language arts and mathematics within an associate or baccalaureate degree program. These same attributes and levels of achievement are needed for entry into and success in post-secondary workforce education, the military, or directly into a job that offers gainful employment and career advancement.” To see what else the Hunt Institute supplies you as far as the way NC game to this definition, see:
http://www.hunt-institute.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Did_You_Know_CareerCollegeReadinessDefinition_20150430.pdf

Anti CCSS Warriors, consider this:
If the states are using canned versions of the definition, how easy do you think it will be for each state to truly have a choice when it comes to NOT having Common Core (which hides behind the name ‘College and Career Ready Standards’)??

So when do the ‘Lifelong Skills’ come into play? Read on!

LLSbyAIR

From the introduction of the Lifelong Skills Report, this excerpt,Lifelong Learning Skills (LLS) provide the foundation for learning and working. They broadly support student thinking, self-management, and social interaction, enabling the pursuit of education and career goals. Collectively, LLS are the means by which students master academic content and translate knowledge into action. There is a growing consensus among researchers that LLS are discretely identifiable and actionable levers of support for meeting college and career readiness(CCR) objectives. Below you will see just one  of the evidence based research tables which are offered up as ‘credible sources’ for LLS and CCR.
LLSCCR
This is just the first table (critical thinking)! There are 2 more, one for self-regulation (image a pre-K,  K, or a special needs student being 100% successful at this expected behavior) Following this  is the SEL (social and emotional learning) table. Remember, anti CCSS Warriors, plenty of behavior intervention is planned for America, which will most definitely include social and emotional manipulation!

What follows these tables of How LLS will be interwoven into CCR, are the ASSESSMENTS!
See below:
assessLLS
Directly preceding the above graphic in the official report will be a note about an annotated bibliography. The Bibliography has this in the description, “…what lifelong learning skills are, how they impact and relate to college and career readiness and success outcomes, and how they can be taught and measured in the classroom, across the pre-kindergarten to workforce (PK-20W) spectrum.”

To get the AIR ‘Lifelong Learning Skills Report’ (2015): CCRS Lifelong Learning Skills Policy Considerations_0

To get the Bibliography (2014); The assessments to be used in measuring college/career readiness or have been used as reference will begin on page 26 and include The SBAC, PARCC, and many others, yet the top of the page tells you few very assessments can truly be used or trusted: CCRS LifelongLearning Bibligraphy
(If you are new to fighting against the Common Core, College and Career Readiness, the SBAC and PARCC are the high stakes assessments the U.S. Dept. of Education gave millions  to create. See:
http://www2.ed.gov/programs/racetothetop-assessment/awards.html

Those awarded the millions were all pro CCSS, and guess, what, they are pro CCR, too!)

Closing:

In the title of this article, I asked a question. Do we have an answer yet? I believe we do. While those within the CCSS Machine would like us to believe the Lifelong Skills will enforce College and Career Readiness on a path to success, the evidence (from before the passage of the ESSA was passed  to now) points to a lifelong sentence of going nowhere; of staying stuck; of failing to become what those students wish to become, but becoming exactly what the CCSS Machine determines them to become! Remember, the goal is pre-Kindergarten to career, which means the upcoming HEA re-authorization will be slam full of MORE Lifelong Learning Skills, social and emotional learning, and much more for EVERYONE in post-secondary education!

Weekend News: The State of CCSS’s SEL

During this busy time, anti CCSS Warriors, we have much distracting us in this War Against the Core (Common Core, that is). For today’s “Tech Thursday”, I’d like to draw your attention to the Gates Foundation funded ASCD (Association for Supervision of Curriculum Development) and their push for SEL (Social Emotional Learning). SEL is a HUGE part of the CCSS Machine’s effort to indoctrinate our students, teachers, school leaders, and, legislators.
We MUST know all that we can about the legislative moves in each of our states to truly combat this portion of the CCSS!

Why is SEL such a big deal? Consider this:
Our emotions were created in us to help us express ourselves. We are to rule them, NOT have them rule us. However, when you take the agenda behind the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative), you find the gist is to alter our emotions and MOLD them to fit the social issues (ie: social justice). This is a dangerous goal, anti CCSS Warriors. When you alter the mind in any way to fit someone or something else’s agenda, you are no longer your own person living your life as you see fit. You become a easily manageable cog in the CCSS Machine’s parts. So what is SEL? It stands for social, emotional learning. In short, it is everything connected t our attitudes, values, beliefs, and how we use them. Common Core has already proven out in many ways just how it is purposefully manipulating subjects taught, so imagine what it is doing to our minds?

Enter the ASCD:

On 11/18/15T, ASCD helped host a SEL webinar. The same day the hearings to continue re-authorizing the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) began. If you’ve not been made aware of it, SEL is a HUGE portion of the combined bills (HR5 and S1177; Student Success Act and Every Child Achieves Act) that are to replace the ‘outdated’ ESEA!
What group was also hosting this webinar? The Rennie Center. Have you heard of them, anti CCSS Warriors? You should get to know this Center, if you haven’t.
Before we move on to the Rennie Center, I want to leave you with one quote from the ASCD’s author Mike Anderson,The Common Core State Standards give us a golden opportunity to teach social-emotional skills and academic skills together.” Want to see more of what he wrote about CCSS and SEL lessons?

“Here are just a few examples of connections between the Common Core standards and the five core social and emotional competencies outlined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL):

Self-Awareness

  • Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary. (Reading/Foundational Skills/Grade 5)
  • Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which ideas are logically grouped to support the writer’s purpose. (Writing/Grade 5)

Self-Management

  • Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach. (Writing/Grade 5)
  • [Mathematically proficient students] monitor and evaluate their progress and change course if necessary. (Math Practice Standard 1)

Social Awareness

  • Describe how a narrator’s or speaker’s point of view influences how events are described. (Speaking and Listening/Grade 5)
  • Engage in a range of collaborative discussions with diverse partners on grade 5 topics and texts, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly. (Speaking and Listening/Grade 5)

Relationship Skills

  • With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed. (Writing/Grade 5)
  • [Mathematically proficient students] justify their conclusions, communicate them to others, and respond to the arguments of others. (Math Practice Standard 3)

Responsible Decision Making

  • Come to discussions prepared, having read or studied required material. (Speaking and Listening/Grade 5)
  • Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions and carry out assigned roles. (Speaking and Listening/Grade 5)”

What We Need to Know to Look for in Our States Concerning SEL:

1) re-purposing school budgets, combining funds and resources so they are open to all involved

2) college and career readiness departments or committees, especially on the local level and often embedded in community projects.

3) developing a SEL program or initiative (or refreshing an existing SEL program)
ASCD has a ‘how to launch a SEL program article you should read, see:
http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/may97/vol54/num08/How-to-Launch-a-Social-$-Emotional-Learning-Program.aspx

4) Ethic, moral, or, sex education courses and curricula (all parts of the ‘social issues/justice’ portion of CCSS). With the whole community is in this approach, note that means any group seen as invested in education will have access to your students via ‘educational opportunities’.

5) community wide SEL programs or initiatives (ie: 21st Century Community Learning Centers or Strive Together cities (part of KnowledgeWorks) I’ve written about both of these several times, if you’d like the articles, let me know.
