A Response

To my fellow anti CCSS Warriors, by default this includes those against the federally led education overhaul, as well as the global overreaches.

We know, from research, that all this can be traced to one source. The United Nations. By default, that encompasses the UNESCO arm. *UNESCO means United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. (To be precise, the ‘z’ is an American spelling, the official spelling uses a ‘s’.) We also know from research that what we have known as education (academics) is becoming ‘education’ (workforce training).

While I’ve seen many anti CCSS Warriors jump up and down with glee over the U.S. State Department’s announcement that the nation is leaving UNESCO, I am not among them.  I will admit, it SOUNDS like a good move, but as always, the research STILL points to many ties which, UNESCO membership or NOT, the US will still be bound by. I’ll say it now, I am choosing to remain on the ‘offense’ side of this War Vs the Core. 

Many media resources happily shared the US’s news about leaving UNESCO, but how many of them included in their headlines that We the People will have to wait until the end of 2018? Do we really think after the many years of the UN’s foundation laying educational overreach, that a measly year will be all it takes to truly be free of UNESCO? The CCSS Machine includes UN/UNESCO.

We have to look beyond the headlines, Warriors!

Some Facts:
1) Go to the U.S. State Dept. website right now and look at their headlining article. It’s not that the US is leaving UNESCO, it’s that we MUST have more STEM, especially for women! This is a UN ‘play by the book’ move, if ever there was one!! In fact, this comes right out of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Tool Kit.  As we know, the SDGs use ‘education’ as a ‘change agent’ for all kinds of indoctrination.

In this article for Women and STEM, it states just how committed to STEM the Trump Administration is. Warriors, if ever there was a ‘hiding in plain sight’ statement which reveals the continued shift to un-American ideals, it’s that the DC leadership has totally sold out to this. The article also shows how the President has laid a foundation to cement STEM in America with the NSF and NASA programs. (Both are CCSS Machine supportive)

In the State Department’s “Other News”?  Is the fact the US and China are welcoming 3 more partnerships for economic and technology purposes. So, it’s basically an agreement for MORE STEM (although not using the “STEM” acronym). STEM means “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math”.

2) In fact, a few days ago I exposed much about the UNESCO/UN and their STEM and STEAM (STEAM is STEM with the “Arts” embedded.).

3) Following that information, I showed you how the UN/UNESCO, the WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) and the use of technology in a “Matrix” form that’s already embedded in the US (and the rest of the world) and will NOT be going away.

UNESCO is only shown 3 times in this screen shot, HOWEVER, the 3 categories are ICT (Information and Communications Technology), Media , and Knowledge! The black boxes show the SDG #4 which is education for all.

4) The US still owes UNESCO money, over $500 million to be exact. UNESCO uses part of the money it receives to oversee our American historic sites which are considered World Heritage sites.

5) UNESCO has several P3s (Public Private Partnerships) involved in the World Heritage Sites. How many of these American or American-tied groups will be willing to leave UNESCO?

6) What about the time between now and when the US leaves UNESCO? Well, the US becomes a kind of silent partner. It’ll be around to keep a watchful eye. HOWEVER, that means ‘education’ will still be up for alignment! Also, there’s a big question about the next UNESCO leader.

7) The UN/UNESCO is really pushing AI (artificial intelligence), especially in ‘education’. This article from the Mirror (UK) is down-right creepy. My fellow anti CCSS Warrior, Alex Newman wrote and spoke about the AI being used to advance 2030 Agenda (of which the SDGs are now a part of. Previously, the SDGs were with Agenda 21, but 2030 is the newer version). Here’s what I found out about AI. Again, all this connects back to the massive WSIS/UN/UNESCO data control you see in #3 above.

8) From 2002, an article detailing why (then) Pres. Reagan removed the US from UNESCO. It appears the concern for media control is almost being overlooked in our current situation. This won’t be going away simply because our current Administration plans to remove America from UNESCO.

9) The infamous UNESCO/Gates ‘Cooperation Agreement haunts us to the this day. It is THE single most telling root of the UNESCO plan for American ‘education’! This shift is SO embedded in America, thanks to WIOA(Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), and HEA (Higher Education Act) (to name a few laws), that our extraction from UNESCO won’t mean anything different. Add to this the UNESCO (Huxley) idea of what American education should become. After all, it plays right into the UNESCO/Gates Agreement.

Also thanks to the UN, our individual States have ‘pimped out’ their schools. In this article, I show you how MN went first back in the 1980s.
Finally, for #9, the UNESCO Publication 356. It lays out what ‘global education’ should be like. There’s a tremendous emphasis on ‘commonalities’. (*Note: I couldn’t find a date of publication, but this document has been around a while.)

10) Back in the 1960s (87th Congress), there was no problem with announcing the UNESCO was Communism after our children. So, what has happened between then and now to go from ‘no way’ to ‘hey, have our kids’?! The CCSS Machine is what’s happened!

11) Back in 2010, (then) U.S. Sec. of Education, Arne Duncan addressed UNESCO. Consider his remarks and how they fit into what was being coerced upon our States. Add to that the 2014 UNESCO Report for how far the shift to Universal Design for Learning (embedded in ESSA) had progressed.

What about Secretaries King and DeVos? Have they spoken out to stop UNESCO? Dr. King is currently the head of The Education Trust which is heavily funded by Bill Gates and other CCSS Machine members. Also at the Education Trust is Amber Arellano. Her biography at the Ed Trust reveals she was previously at the UN’s High Commissioner on Human Rights.

DeVos is mentioned in this Truth in American Education article as well as Sec. Tillerson (State Dept.) as ‘playing’ President Trump with ‘education’. The UN has recognized DeVos’s family business (Amway) as one of the top companies in the world practicing biodiversity (a big component of the SDGs). Be sure to listen to the entire video below. It is from the late 1980s.

12) UNESCO and aligning teachers has been happening for quite a while. HOWEVER, it will not go away just because the US is leaving UNESCO. In fact, in 2015, the Incheon Declaration was made for all Member States and their commitment to adhering to the SDGs (Warriors, remember, education is Goal #4). As 2030 Agenda compliance dictates, that means our US teachers will have to have their professional development align!

You can see the International Task Force on Teachers (formed 2008, as part of the Onslo EFA (Education For All) meeting) Part 2 Strategy Plan. The Plan was completed in 2016. 

Closing:

Warriors, I realize this may not be a well received article. Truth usually isn’t easy to hear. I do have some optimism about the US leaving UNESCO, but with all this evidence, I am being very cautious in my thinking. I think we all should be cautious. I know we all MUST speak the truth about the CCSS Machine. I want to thank the many dedicated Warriors who supplied their documents for this article.

Have You Heard?

My Fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors, have you ever heard of BARDA? I’ll be honest, I hadn’t. However, in looking at the Congressional Appropriations Bills (HR 3358 and S 1771) for the U.S. Depts. of Labor/Health and Human Service/Education, I discovered BARDA. Specifically, the ‘new-to-my-research’ agency was written into the S 1771’s Bill.

On Page 96, you’ll find under the heading of ‘Transfer of Funds‘ for the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, directives for where the NIH (National Institute of Health, a part of the HHS) could use some of the funds. Warriors, remember, these funds are our taxpayer dollars.

On Page 97, is where BARDA first shows up. “BARDA” stands for ‘Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority’.

Thought:

Warriors, with the word ‘biometrics’,  is there more BARDA does than simply prepare us for the worst scenarios? We know ‘biometric’ devices are used to monitor the SEL (social emotional learning) and have been tied to Common Core.

 

Question:

Now that ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is the law, will biometrics continue to be used? Back in March 2017, I published an article about some (then) current Congressional Bills. Related to them? A 2011 biometric study! Be sure to access this more recent article about the SEL and special needs students via ESSA.

Warriors, please note I am NOT saying we do not need emergency plans, especially in our schools. BUT, my question is simply this, where does the emergency planning end and the SEL manipulation begin?

Warriors, some of the ‘red flags’ I saw in the highlighted resource in the screen shot above were: all States have behavioral health partners/plans. The plans are to cover emergencies, the partnerships go a bit deeper than ’emergencies only’. Some of these partners happen to be some of the very same ones which have rubbed stamped Common Core, support STEM, have Career Tech Education, or, are CCSS Machine member organizations in on approving the SEL overreach in education!

(*Note: back in 2014, I wrote how SAMSHA was using Common Core as a tool for gun control via “Project Aware”; in 2015, this article about mental health and the manipulation of it in education for workforce needs. Then, in 2016, this article gives you a big run down of the federal level of overreach in not only mental health with agencies like SAMSHA, but many others!)

In the 2016 Document (above), look for the bottom of Page 14, ‘federal behavioral health support usually involves the provision of technical assistance, educational resources..’ (‘technical assistance’, more times than not, means data mining in some form)
Page 15, an inter-agency council for behavioral health: Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Disasters and Emergencies. This Forum is a P3 (Public Private Partnership). It’s been around since 2007.

Getting back to BARDA:

This 2014 article likens BARDA to a venture capital group hidden in DC.
Warriors, we know how toxic venture capitalists have been in education. Where health and education intersect is probably just as bad.

As far as the 10 year contract mentioned in S 1771 for BARDA? It appears that is a continuation of a project which began back during President Bush’s (the first) administration. It’s known as Project BioShield, (PB).
From the Strategic Plan (2011-2016) for PB, an increase in public private partnerships (P3s); 21st Century skills; a workforce steeped in science and technology (which of course means STEM education and STEM jobs); and, all which connects them.  

Warriors, the PB price tag is in the billions. (*Note: refer to the highlighted “Bush” above. When that document opens, look to your right for ‘funding’).

STEM Endorsed by PHE:

Warriors, remember that BARDA is under the Public Health Emergency (PHE) arm of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. I was able to find on the PHE’s blog, not only an endorsement for early emergency preparation by studying STEM in 2017, but how the PHE is working in the context of a 17 year (began 2009) partnership for global health.

As we know from research, global health is part of the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). STEM is a part of the SDGs, as well as part of the CCSS Machine.

Warriors, S 1771 and its partner Bill HR 3358 lock in all the funds for things like BARDA and more educational overreach on 10/7/17. The LAST day to raise any challenge is 10/6/17. I Might be Banned IF…

Hello, Warriors!

It’s been a busy week and a half for me. Child Abuse in the Classroom’s national grassroots campaign kicked off, interviews to prepare for, webinars to attend, and, a video ‘class’ on the UN’s grasp on American education..enough to make me dizzy. Some even called me ‘ditzy’. Oh well, all in the life of an outspoken education activist.

So, what do I mean by the title you read? “I might be banned IF”….I told the truth…again.
Facebook banned me for doing so…again. By now, not only am I NOT surprised, I am saddened. Freedom of speech, at least according to the Facebook ‘police’ is heavily censored. I could understand if what I have to say was truly awful, but, the truth?? Seriously??

I touched on HR 3358 during the video. Use the website I embedded to search for it. This next week, I’ll be diving into this bill for a closer look.

One thing I didn’t point out, but intended to was the use of the Smurfs to push the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

During the video, I referred to my blog to access the articles by topic. As you know, I’ve devoted several years to researching education. One of the articles which sparked me to get involved was by Tom DeWeese. I not only gave you a bit of history with Tom’s article, but I also gave you a bit of what’s been happening since then and is directly related.

One of the biggest things I shared with Warriors, is the color psychology behind the SDGs. There are two links you MUST visit! The first one is from a NGO (non government organization) run by a large group of Catholic women. The second one is from a group of ‘stakeholders’.
The UN has some serious mandates about using the logo and colors of the SDGs. Find these 2 links and see how strict it all is.

You’ll find the Global Alliance for Monitoring Education is funding assessments on a global level which fits right in with the UN’s agenda.

Remember, Warriors, it isn’t so much what IS said sometimes as it is what ISN’T said. By committing us to the UN’s agenda, these leaders are speaking for us. We did NOT ever say we wanted UN in our US education!



Child Abuse In The Classroom:

“OUR GOAL:  To repeal ESSA and President Obama’s Executive Order 12866 which changed the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations to allow our children’s data and private information–including teacher-generated, anecdotal, psychological analysis–to be shared without parental knowledge or approval.”

Warriors, we MUST have tens of thousands of citizens join us to make the grassroots effort truly pay off. To accomplish a ‘repeal and restore’ tactic of this nature, massive numbers of outraged citizens are needed. Warriors, it’s vital to point out that the top 3 nations (Denmark, Sweden, and, Norway) “Leading the Way” in this Initiative are ones we repeatedly see our education systems compared to  OR lamented over that the US isn’t MORE like these nations when it comes to education! Stop comparing!! When this happens, we are actually encouraging our US education system to become Un-American!!!

The Global Education Associates openly participates in the UN activities. The US, is a member country. You’ll find the Eden Project is also a part of the GEA (Global Education Associates)

The P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) is a well known CCSS Machine member organization. But did  you know they are ‘buddies’ with the UN?! That’s right, the ‘buddies’ have been working together to ruin American education since 2013.

Not only is the P21 up to its neck in the UN’s activities, but they are also pushing the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. These Centers are most definitely a globalizing move as well as being embedded in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). P21’s latest Report shows how our babies (18 months to 6 years old) can learn BETTER when involved in a 21st CCLC.

Since so much of ESSA has technology as an educational ‘resource’, it’s important to connect that back to the UN’s push for technology (see the links above I shared; as well in the video). Warriors, look at the evidence directly above.  It’s from a group known as ‘CUE’. Cue loves to lobby legislators. They are also partners with inACOL (International Assoc. for K-12 Online Learning). In 2016, inACOL gave a proposal to the UN for the 2030 Agenda in education. (*Note, thanks to Warrior Victoria for the CUE lead.)

If you’ve heard of a “New Tech” school, it’s part of the combination of efforts in educational reform. According to the NTN (New Tech Network), students are BETTER College/Career Ready Graduates! Here’s their Report stating this. (*Note: “The New Tech Network (NTN) of nearly 200 schools in 28 states..” contains about 72,000 children.) When you access the Report, be sure to read the President’s remarks. You’ll find that global citizenship is among the themes of these schools.

So, Warriors, there you have it. You, too, can be banned for sharing the truth about the CCSS Machine! So, speak loudly, speak daily, and speak out to save our nation!

Know Thy Worth?

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, we’re quickly approaching a new school year (2017-18). It’ll be another year of contention for those who are dead-set against the CCSS Machine

Over the summer, many of us have continued to chip away at the facade of how ‘local’ ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is and the true identity of the global, UN (United Nations) grasp over our federal government’s adherence to the modern education reform.

Would You Know What the Global CCSS Machine Values Are?

Warriors, did you know that the UN has ROI (Return on Investment) formulas for education? These formulas, of course will include assessements (tests), teaching, and other factors. However, it’s not the student who will come out the winner, but the businesses AND economy which will reign supreme in education. Why? Workforce based, skilled citizens. If the UN has such, we can ‘bet the bank’ the USA does, too.

Needed Background Information:

For example, back in 2014, I wrote an article about a local meeting which laid out the intersecting of the working world, politicians, and education. Oh, and, yes, the business world was represented by the State level Chamber of Commerce. Look below for a sample of what I shared then.

Warriors, we must remember, P3s are increased in power, thanks to ESSA. Globally speaking, their power is enormously strong, as well. The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) provide the way for this across the globe.

Here, in America, a series of federally passed laws provide the way. Chief among them are: ESSA, WIOA, HEA, the STEM Act, and many more. Also, Warriors, keep in mind, the big corporations are not the only investors in ‘education’. The SBA (Small Business Administration) is knee-deep in the alignment/investing ploy, too. These will be the more ‘local’ overreaches you see today.

Warriors, we know of plenty of American career tracking, but what about the international career tracking and/or skill based tests? Are there any? Of course!
Back in March 2017, I shared with you the ties between American and the PIAAC (Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). This test measures our adults (and thus, teachers, education leaders) and their ‘value’ to the economy.

Your Global Worth?

So, how does all this tie to the UN’s SDGs?! Watch the short video below. It features a school leader (early 2017) explain ‘rigor’ in the global scheme of things. While I listened to this man, I heard so many words with very little meaning. (A classic tool of the CCSS Machine) This school is an American school (Ranney School in NJ. It’s an  independent school which is a UN partner school. Ranney School also is con-joined with Monmouth University as another UN partner school.

Warriors, did you catch the ‘innovation’ plugs? Did you hear the ‘what’s taught’? The Tool Kit for teaching the SDGs is full of how to teach to manipulate values, beliefs, and attitudes. According to the UN’s SDG Initiative Tracking website, there are 524 other global education partnerships in progress right now. If you’d like to see them, find them here. However, remember, Warriors, education is the preferred ‘change agent’ so the alignment in education will be in ALL 17 goals for SD (Sustainable Development), not simply one.

How the OCED* (Organization for Cooperation in Economic Development) rates ‘returns on investment’ in education. This 2009 Report looks at student outcomes and the cost of educating people. (*Note: OCED is a partner via the Global Compact of the UN.)

This un-dated World Bank “education return on investment” shows how education and growth for economics should be a hand-in-hand process.

UNICEF (a part of the UN), in their 2015 Report, stress a hefty return on investment via education of up to 30%.

Back in 2016, MarketWatch’s website suggested we ‘moneyball’ education. Maybe they read ESSA better than those who voted on it. Moneyballing is exactly what will be happening more and more in American classrooms of all ages. We can also expect those bankrolling education will have many strings in the way education is conducted. Expect more of a business, not a labor of love, Warriors.

Do the better ‘thing’, the ‘smarter than the global-UN/US thing’: Don’t send your students back to school! Hug them instead, talk with them about their TRUE value and worth. It is beyond ANY amount of money!

Update on “Of Late”

When I wrote “Of Late”, I knew there were several key pieces of evidence to present and somehow tie together. 

Almost immediately after the article hit the social media circuit, I got at least 2 other leads from fellow Warriors, making EVEN more connections to the subject matter in “Of Late”. If you missed that topic, it was all about the how our current U. S. Congress is bowing MORE to a global vent for workforce based education for all ages and all educational choices.

What follows is to be used as tools for every anti Fed Ed Warrior out there. Yes, it’s in-depth. But, it needs to be.

Where I Left Off:

Warriors, I left you with the confirmed evidence that American education is being used as a tool against us for the purpose of reshaping our nation. To continue that re-shaping, look to North Dakota, first.

Heading West:

My fellow Warrior from “The Roughrider State”, noticed that some of the items I shared seemed a bit TOO familiar. She then referred me to Gov. Burgum’s recent Innovation in Education Summit. She laid out some quick facts about the ties some of those presenting ‘expert’ evidence have to the CCSS Machine. She heavily questions how well these people represent the values of the North Dakotians.

I  found Dintersmith involved in another education reform area (which was also another tip from my ND friend). That is the “Most Likely to Succeed” documentary. This was filmed back in 2015 and was considered a hit by the Sundance Film Festival. What the documentary shows is chilling, Warriors. Below is the just over 2 minute trailer. Notice the key CCSS Machine members (Robinson is tied to Pearson, Khan is tied to the Khan Academy and received Gates Foundation funding to switch to CCSS, Common Core State Standards.)

Warriors, I haven’t forgotten Dintersmith’s assignment by former President Obama (in the brief bio description above) to the UN. Neither should you.

Time and time again, I’ve shown you fact based research on how the former leader and his administration bent over backwards to help continue the cycle of ‘dumbing down’ American education.
There was the PCAST Report from 2010 where STEM was ushered in as a disguise for the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), thanks to the NSF (National Science Foundation) and many other CCSS groups. There was also ‘innovation’ after ‘innovation’ initiative or some digital push to be foisted on our teachers and students.

Thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), those ‘innovation’ and digital overhauls are 100% certain. Has our current President slowed any of this down? Hardly.

Mr. Trump has, in fact, seemingly turned a deaf ear to the CCSS Machine’s technology de facto moves.

Warriors, remember, Dintersmith is a business man, not an educator. The fact sheet for the same White House Report reveals not only a big STEM push, but CTE (Career Tech Education) push, too. Both STEM and CTE are tied up in CCSS, apprenticeships, and the global education scheme of the United Nations.

Warriors, since most of the apprenticeships and internships are targeting our high schoolers in an attempt to groom them for higher education, we know to be watching the post-secondary reform like a hawk. You also know, I have been helping you do just that for years. EdWeek has an article, published earlier this week which reveals some valid points (even for a pro CCSS/ESSA source).

Point #1: Since the U.S. Secretary DeVos has been in office, she’s tackled much more higher education reform than K-12th grades.
Point #2: There’s a ton more federal control on colleges, community colleges, proprietary (for profit) schools, and all the early college, skill prep programs to unite K-12th to post-secondary education.

Innovation Kills:

Warriors, much of the conversation about all this alignment, reform, and increased innovation leaves out the bare faced fact that innovation actually stunts our minds.
How? Too much of anything is bad for us. As the push to unite the USA to a global education continues; technology and innovation/infrastructure for such will continue to envelope us. 

Released in 2016, is the short You Tube film which depicts a father and child. Conformity to a work/school system is the topic. According to the resource I found highlighting this film, the tone of the writer is that we must change society to join work and education.
Exactly the message we are hearing from the UN, Congress, and our Administration in Washington, D.C. 

The writer stresses that is it our current mindset toward work and school which is killing our student’s minds. In the fact-based research and evidence, it is the CCSS Machine grasp on education which is doing the stunting. NOT parents, not our environment.

I was able to find that one of the producers of “Alike” (Daniel M. Lara) is tied to the Blender Foundation and their 2016 Conference, where he was a featured speaker. Blender Conferences have been an annual event for a while now. Blender’s focus? Arts, technology, animation, and all related subjects. I also found that the Blender Foundation was cited as a resource (page 86) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) publication from 2015 for IGI Global for use in America. This Google Book is a goldmine of education reform. Chapter 83 is all about embedding pedagogy into NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards), you’ll see how innovation is to be used to target those ‘less academic’ than their peers, you’ll find out STEM is being unleashed on our babies, how ‘blended learning’ and PBLs (Problem Based Learning) is to shift education’s responsibility from teacher to student as a force tactic, future trends for K-20 education (kindergarten to 4 year college degree or similar), service based education (as in grooming the ‘collective, global citizens’), computer games as science teachers, multi-pronged distance education, how the Europeans are educating in these ways, open source lectures (coding classes will tie in here), and, more. (*Note in the beginning pages the number of American Universities.)

Interestingly enough, Betsy DeVos and Ivanka Trump just promoted more girls to STEM in the Smithsonian Museum, 7/25/17. They teamed up back in March 2017 to do much the same. (*Note: Not so funny, one of the UN’s SDGs is promoting women in education, especially STEM.)

One of the NC legislators is bragging on how ‘we’ will be the first in the nation for state-wide classroom internet access. Remember, ESSA’s mandates in technology include such. Way to align, NC.

Access the “Economist” article and you’ll literally read the beginning words with the name of B.F. Skinner, quickly followed by Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg.

Subject: Impact of shift from academics to workforce in your workplace

Summary: Due in part from the United States federal government’s agreement with the United Nations to uphold and adhere to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals); Congress’s legislation to create WIOA {Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act} and the STEM Act {Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math}; re-write and re-authorize both the ESEA {Elementary and Secondary Education Act} and the HEA {Higher Education Act}. ESEA is now the ESSA {Every Student Succeeds Act}, HEA remains the same..for now. Also responsible for this shift in your workplace are the P3s {Public Private Partnerships}. These P3s will be either globally active or locally active; some will be both.

Changes You May See Now, or, Will See Soon:

1) An increase in computer training to earn digital badges or credentialed certificates thereby creating a decrease in hard copy books or instructional manuals. This is usually promoted as a way to ‘go green and save paper’. In reality, it’s a way to create a ‘life-long learning’ track of employability for you. In most instances, these courses are used for giving a teacher/leader a ‘promotion’. Ususally, these are mere lateral steps, not actual promotions. As such, you may see (or not see) your income increased. These tracks are usually professionally developed by various CCSS (Common Core State Standards) supportive groups or organizations. Because CTE IS Common Core (by a different name), your training is aligned to meet THOSE standards. Most of the time, in addition to your company’s policy for training and leadership. Teachers/Leaders, remember the Business Roundtable, several unions, and almost every major corporation have backed this shift in education from academics to workforce for years. CTE has given them the opportunity to do it in the name of ‘jobs’. Our federal government uses it as a tool to sell human diginity in exchange for a better economy.

2) A shift you will NOT see, but is happening to you is a direct result of #1. That is data mining. Yes, your computer based training is captured, studied, and shared by countless educational groups and any other group they work with or are contracted to work with. This data, is also shared on the federal government level, as well as globally. Why? Your ‘competency’ is measured to be used against you later on. If you do not ‘teach’ well, your students do not ‘learn’ well. These 2 factors are weighed against the entire school. If a post-secondary school doesn’t measure up to the accrediting body’s standards (also directly overseen by the U.S. Dept. of Education and those post-secondary accrediation organizations it works with), funding is cut. Which means, pay cuts or lay-offs become a bigger reality.

3) CTE teacher/leader ‘incentives’  are part of the ESSA mandates for workforce-based education. On Page 17 of the Law, it is plainly stated that ALL education must be post-secondary readiness aligned as per the WIOA definition of ‘readiness’. That definition?! “Career and College Ready” (which is another name for Common Core and Career Tech Education). However, instructors, the strings by which you may earn these ‘incentives’ is hardly worth the price. Expect more monitoring of your student’s contributions in class; group based projects/group collective grades; their behaviors and attitudes (College and Career Ready calls it SEL, social emotional learning); expect that you will have to jump through more hoops than ever to be qualified to teach, but NOT how you wish to lead, but by a contrived system. As part of the re-writing of the HEA, expect more of this kind of micro-management of your schools. Consider, if your school loses accrediation for lack of credentialed leaders or enough graduates, you may be out of a job.
(Remember, as a post-secondary educational institution, public, private, or for-profit, your largest funding stream is CTE money based on students from ages 5-17, regardless of what school they attend.)

4) How does a student become Career and College ReadyCareer Tracks!  Assessments! These do not only show up in traditional K-12th grade schools. They are present in early college programs, trade schools apprenticeships, dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, AP courses and IB courses. All of which are accessed by ALL education choices, including home education. Any extra curricular STEM program is also part of the Career Tracking and Assessments.

Some of the companies here love CTE and Career Pathways. They also are unabashedly supportive of CC aligned citizens.

Teachers/leaders, do not be surprised if you see an increase in the number of tests your students must take. Look out especially for the assessment called “WorkKeys”. If a student hasn’t received it in a K-12th grade institution, it may be an added requirement at your school, given upon admissions. “WorkKeys” is most definitely a Common Core/CTE alignment tool to groom students for their career tracks. These tests do not take into consideration talents or desires of students. Whatever skill -based results the WorkKeys gives, is what your student’s education will be streamlined to. Look for buzzwords like “personalized learning” or ‘personalized instruction’. These are ‘code’ for data mining, career tracking algorithms for both teacher and student.

Questions for Reflection:
Is this why I wanted to teach? Is this how I wish to continue to teach? Will the cost of college, career schools continue to increase? If so, how much of MY tax dollars will be used? Will these dollars be used as I choose? Since I receive a portion of these tax dollars as my salary, am I okay with this shift in education?
If I stay in my teaching position, how can I fight this overreach in my school?  Is my stance helping promote this kind of governmental control to succeed, or, is there a way I can strike an effective blow?
