Working Over The “Old North State”

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, just a few days ago, I shared with you how ‘great’ NC’s updated school-wide report cards are. ICYMI, here it is.

Worth repeating, though, is this: A CTE (Career Tech Education) specific school in my county had ZERO textbooks (according to the NC Report Card website).

What does this have to do with workforce based education? Everything! Not only is NC (Old North State) getting ‘worked over’, every other State is too!

Look below and tell me, Warriors, how well this federal-to-state-to-your child’s education has workforce woven into it. This is meant for ALL school choices.

It’s been said for years that the goal for ‘education’ isn’t being well educated, it’s being well-trained.

Not long after I began my blog (2014), I attended an meeting held on a local community college campus. The rhetoric spilling out of the elected officials and school employees was eye-opening, to say the least. It was all about workforce aligned schools. See this article. (You’ll even see the embedded You Tube video about national workforce credentials. As the business owner stated in the short film, ‘no certification; no job’.)

Programs like “NC Works” bring the workforce aligned schools to 100% fruition.

I also shared with you how the NCWorks program came to be in Sept. 2014.

An updated article about NCWorks in 2015 showed you how the Governor of NC ( Pat McCrory) had laid out a ‘smooze fest’ of CCSS Machine member groups and citizens to carry out his plan for education and workforce training to intersect.

Warriors, every Governor did likewise. It was due to the language of WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). Governors were given more power. Using it to create aligned school-to-work systems was just the beginning.

In 2016, I gave you an update on NCWorks and how it was connected to a bond for statewide community colleges. The bond was a poorly disguised taxpayer disaster for generations to come. Thanks to the CCSS Machine, the bond was voted on and passed.

Warriors, when the Education and Workforce Commission was started, it was housed in the Governor’s administrative branch. During the summer of 2107, the Commission was moved from the Governor’s office to the NC DPI (North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction).  From what I can find, the new location is in the NC DPI’s CTE (Career and Technical Education Office)

The announcement I found about the move is from the Public Schools First NC website:

If you are curious, the Public Schools First NC states its a group of nonpartisan citizens. However, “Mapping the Left” website shows the Public Schools First NC, has received some previous funding from The Reynolds Foundation.

Reynolds Foundation supports all kinds of community groups, social justice projects, and education. Among one of the red warning signs I found on Reynolds 2015 Grant page was to a non-profit called “DigiLearn”. DigiLearn was founded by former Governors (NC) Perdue and (WY) Geringer. (*Note: Perdue was in office when NC’s Race to the Top funds were awarded.)

DigiLearn’s Board has two well-known CCSS Machine members, one is NC legislator Craig Horn and the other is Tom VanderArk.

So, Why Share This Now?

Warriors, I share this now, as the NC DPI is wrapping up 2017, with sights set for 2018. Planned? A new workforce based learning program AND approach. It all appears to be housed in the NC DPI’s CTE Office, too. You’ll more than likely find this type of activity in your State.

The ‘new’ program? “The Students@Work is a project of the North Carolina Business Committee for Education in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.Warriors, the new program won’t replace NCWorks. It compliments it!

Both NCWorks and CTE use Perkins funding. Perkins funding was not to be embedded in K-12th education when it first began. Perkins funds were for post-secondary educational institutions and programs. However, when the CCSS Machine began the shift from academics to workforce, Perkins funds found their way into the classroom. ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) even embeds CTE and Perkins funds.

You can also read about the recent 6 States (NC, AL, IA, IL, NV, and RI) involved in the CTE/STEM Workforce based Siemens Corporation education initiative.

CTE also marries Common Core to STEM.

The Siemens Initiative began back in 2015. According to the Siemens overview, it was to target ‘young adults’ (16-24 years). However, the NC workforce education plan (above) is to start in 6th grade or about 11 years old.  The Siemens Foundation partners are some heavy-hitting CCSS Machine member groups.

**I also am sharing this now to tie all of this to the fact that the HEA (Higher Education Act) is being re-written. It has been for a while now.

In these last remaining days for Congress (before the 2017 holiday recess), Rep. Foxx is the sponsor of HR 4508PROSPER Act.  It’s the House’s re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act) .

Warriors, it combines CTE, STEM, CCSS, Workforce agenda, globalization, data mining,  and, cradle to grave data tracking.

To access the PROSPER Bill, go here. The Politico 12/13/17 Morning Report stated that HR 4508 would shrink the U.S. Dept. of Education; shift some of Ed’s business to the U.S. Treasury, and more.

Warriors, remember, while these moves SOUND good, I’ve already shown you evidence of how DANGEROUS these actions will be to our schools!

Oh, and let’s not forget Sen. Lamar Alexander’s bragging about overhauling HEA. He’ll be a big mouthed liar once again in 2018 when it comes to education.

HEA (as I’ve said for at least 2 years) is the LAST link in the American education chain which will forever change schools from academic institutions to workforce training facilities…for all ages and educational choices!

I’ve researched this ‘sold-out-to-the-CCSS-Machine-Representative’ several times. Her grasp of truly representing her citizens has been replaced by corporate lies.

**I also share all this now, because several federal level bills seek to create national data tracking in the name of education. HR 4174, S2046; the assault on Net Neutrality will also involve data and our right to privacy (this involves the FTC and FCC: both use taxpayer funds for data mining); the ‘data raping’ will continue via many more proposed bills.
Data is needed to pigeon hole students into workforce training aka ‘education’!

Data is the key, here, Warriors.  On one hand, we need to access HOW the data is being used against our children, as well as protect our civil right to freedom of privacy. On the other hand, as Americans, we know we must use the internet for all kinds of purposes. So, shouldn’t it be as open and free to use as possible?

If data becomes privatized or government micro-managed in any way, we’re losing our civil rights. Not to mention how terrible a track record the US government has with cyber security lately.

Warriors, this is rotten timing, I know. We should be focusing on all the December holidays we have. We shouldn’t have to be contacting our Representatives and Senators.

BUT, we must sacrifice our energy and time! We have to do all we can to block the undermining of our nation! Congress is NOT helping our education system; it’s NOT representing true American values; and, it’s NOT honoring our U.S. Constitution.

Isn’t that worth a few minutes of time in the last days of 2017? We must revolt against all that is wrong with these egregious Bills!

Education Used Against Us

Fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors, I realize the title of this blog article is an ‘elephant in the room’ observation. We all have known for a while, now, how education has been used against our nation’s citizens. As the days in the ESSA Era (*Every Student Succeeds Act Era) continue to grind on, we’ve seen many new Warriors come to this observation.

Sadly, very few political and/or policy leaders have seen how the CCSS Machine  vastly weakened academics. Because of this, it is becoming easier to see (on a daily basis) that education has become almost like a weapon used against us.

Think about it, Warriors.
When a person is being charged with a crime or is being taken into police custody, they are read their “Miranda rights”. Contained in those rights are these words, “Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

Now, in the context of education, it is becoming clear ‘Anything done in education is being held against us.’ Keep that thought as you read on.

One of the biggest ways education is being used against our teachers and students is in the guise of ‘accountability’.

ESSA’s language was especially ‘generous’ with the word. ESSA was also written to be very deceptive. Our schools are suffering even more now, than before ESSA’s passage into the law books.

So, just WHAT were/are the ‘accountability’ mandates in ESSA?
1) Data measured any way and every way possible.
2) To get the federal funds, States must fulfill certain obligations.
3) Control and power of education in the hands of the unqualified.
4) Global workforce agenda driven.

Warriors, of course this is a boiled down list. There are many, many other mandates woven into each of these four.
However, for the sake of those new Warriors, I’ve condensed the list.

Back in August of this year, I shared with you how the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s misuse of ‘accountability’ was harming our States. Here we are, months later and the misuse not only continues, it’s growing.

Warriors, take, for example, the announcement below. What has your State done to align and misguide you where ‘accountability’ can be found? In Superintendent Johnson’s announcement, ‘accountability’ is NOT used, but ‘transparency’ is.

Enter, NC’s “New” Report Cards:

Warriors, thanks to ESSA’s mandates for ALL education being aligned to workforce based industry standards, we know that means that all schools must have data which can be accessed and used. We know it means the ‘grading’ of entire schools across your States will increase in rewards and punishments. Of course, all this grading is the direct results of how well students are learning, how well teachers are leading, and how well principals are keeping everyone in line.

From Superintendent Johnson’s email, the fine print tells you there are 3 different websites for you to access the Report Cards. The first two are for researchers. The last one is for all those with questions. Now, Warriors, if we’re being so transparent and accountable, why 3 different sites? Why not use one?

Johnson unveiled the updated Report Card site (was brand new back in 2001) in his former school district, Winston-Salem Schools. To see the official announcement, visit here. A CCSS Machine member group, FEE (Foundation for Excellence in Education), has also published an article on their ExcelinEd blog about the updates. It’s based off THEIR principles for education!!

As far as the ‘new’ report cards, what’s attention grabbing about using the first of the two sites for researchers is you see a blue screen with SAS in the middle. (This quickly fades as the NC Dept. of Public Instruction page appears.) I’ve added emphasis, below:

Typically, when you access any NC DPI website page, there’s no such process. So, is SAS spying on me when I access the ‘research’ page? It’s more of a probability than a possibility. Even if you aren’t a researcher, you need to see the data sets and definitions.

If you wish to see the NC Report Card website on its own, go here. Once there, select any of the 100 counties. Then, click on a school. You’ll see all kinds of colors, numbers, and information. However, skip the glamour and go for the ‘downloadable’ District Reports. You’ll get a better understanding of what’s being reported on, as well as how it aligns to CCR (College and Career Readiness). CCR is a re-brand of Common Core for every State. For those States which received Race to the Tops funds, CCR will even show up in the applications and award letters. CCR is also used in ESSA.

I did check the NC Report Card for one of my county’s CTE (Career Tech Education) specific schools. What I found was awful. Not one textbook is in use. No academic growth, whatsoever. Knowing more and more States are shifting to this type of ‘education’ for requirements in graduating, we need to act quickly, Warriors! This cannot be acceptable!

Related and Relevant:
1) How Title One funds in ESSA’s Era are being used against us.
2) How ESSA’s embedded WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) ties are being used against your students.
3) How the massive data mining (thanks to ESSA and many related legislative moves) is harming our families.
4) One of the biggest ESSA traps for ‘accountability’ and ‘transparency’ is for our teachers and their ‘performance’.
5) SAS has had a contract with the NC DPI since the days of the ARRA funds (American Recovery and Re-investment Act). SAS is a global data miner/contractor. If you wish to see where else I found the company has government contracts for NC (so you can see what is similar in your State). Warriors, remember, ESSA was full of all kinds of technology updates. SAS will play right into these.
6) SAS has supported a shift in education from academics to workforce not only in NC, but all the way to D.C..
7) Winston-Salem is part of the Strive Together national network of aligned communities for cradle to workforce collectivism.
8) ESSA’s educational use against us will also be felt in all school choices via ‘accreditation’.
9) ESSA will use school leaders against us, as well.

Closing:

Warriors, education is definitely becoming a weapon for conformity, not freedom. We have the power to stop our leaders! How? As my fellow Warrior, Karen Bracken, has stated, ‘Starve the Beast’! Don’t keep your kids hooked into the data mining school system. Remove them now! If you cannot remove them, be that persistent parent who is always visible at school. We cannot allow education to used against our children in this way.

For this edition of my From the Files Tuesday, I want to begin by posing the question you see above in the caption. With the passage of the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) it is important we consider it. Why? Let’s see what we can learn from the relationship between the State I live in (NC) and our neighbor to the West, Tennessee.

The Flyer:

Here in NC, our Primary Election was March 15, 2016. Just before it, I received a glossy, colorful flyer for an organization titled, Our Schools First (OS1).
(see their website: http://www.ourschoolsfirst.com/ ) The flyer instantly got my internal radar up because it stated which candidates running were ‘pro education’.
Now, as an anti CCSS Warrior and researcher, I know that just because  candidates are supportive of education, it needs to be revealed exactly HOW they are supportive. As we have learned together in this War Against the Core, many members of the CCSS Machine are also ‘pro education’, but it is an aligned and agenda filled education. None of this type of information was given on the flyer.

So what did I find on the OS1 website? Why wait until now to share this? Two reasons. First, life has been a whirlwind. Second, had I shared the news then, I wouldn’t have had the entire story, or what appears to be the entire story.

From the OS1 website, I found this is the group which really pushed for a local school bond package back in 2014. (*Note: The bond was to support massive school building changes in 7 of the county’s schools. Knowing from research that bonds are deferred loans future generations usually have to pay off; that the school buildings changes are part of the purposed redesigning of our schools to align to the overall education reform, I didn’t support the bond. It passed anyway. As usual, the bond has proven to be not enough for the changes we were told.) The OS1 website is not very transparent on lots of information, they do ask you for your money and tell you whom you should support, however.

All this said, I did find one useful resource: the call to halt an upcoming bill currently in the NC General Assembly. The bill will basically close any failing school here in NC, take it over, and restructure it as a charter school. The worst part? The bill is written to model the failure of this very thing in TN! This is what the ‘pro education’ group shared, however, it also links its information (the blue highlighted phrase ‘considering a bill’) to a very left leaning policy watch group here in NC. When you access their website, you see another story about the fiscal responsibility aspect of closing schools and restructuring them. (Article link is below)

True, we need to consider this, but it is WHOM they asked that sets off yet another anti CCSS Warrior red flag. Rep. Craig Horn! If you don’t know who he is, let me briefly state that he is 100% in favor of the CCSS Machine’s takeover in education. He is also the chairman of the NC House of Representatives Education Appropriations Committee! While Rep. Horn thinks the bill will not pass, the Representative who has introduced the bill, Rep. Rob Bryan, is said to be a huge supporter of the change in education. (see:

What IS the Change NC Wants that TN Flubbed Up?

Simply put, it is known as ASD (Achievement School Districts). Currently, NC has a Select House Committee on ASDs. Who chairs it? Rep. Bryan. Other Representatives include Rep. Horn and 10 others. Fighting the War Against the Core in NC, I can tell you almost everyone of these Representatives are in favor of the CCSS Machine’s education reform.

In their article, they reveal one fact we should know: ASDs were part of the Race to the Top!

The research on TN’s ASDs includes “A number of states and districts have adopted bold strategies for turning around low performing schools. Some of these initiatives have been modeled after Louisiana’s Recovery School District (RSD), which, in some cases, took over and directly ran failing schools or, in other cases, turned these schools over to charter management organizations (CMOs). Inspired by Louisiana’s example and the potential of Race to the Top (RTTT) funding, Tennessee passed legislation called First to the Top in January 2010 which created the Achievement School District (ASD). The big question is why is NC going down this path when TN showed the system is a disaster? A couple of obvious answers: 1) RttT Funded States have turning around the lowest performing schools as one of their strings. 2) To embed the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandates and plans of turning around schools and creating more charter schools.

“Conformity Readiness”

Warriors Against the Core: In today’s “Tech Thursday” article, I will be taking an in-depth look at the ‘College and Career Readiness’ so interwoven in the ESSA. How does it connect to the Common Core? History, updates, resources, and much more information you need to know.

You recognize CCR, right? The College and Career Readiness that was to replace CCSS (Common Core State Standards), that was to be better than CCSS? That was to be one of the ways the ESSA(Every Student Succeeds Act) ditched the CCSS? Yeah, right..I we all have beach front homes in KS!

“Air Apparent”:

It is no secret how much a part of the CCSS Machine Air, Inc. is but in case you haven’t seen some of the latest CCR (College and Career Readiness) propaganda, you are in for a ‘treat’!
Before we continue our look at AIR, Inc. let’s take a step back in time to see the foundation for CCR (College and Career Readiness).

 

A Step Back:

One of the only truly apparent things about CCR is that they were woven into the RttT (Race to the Top) applications and waivers..right along WITH CCSS! Below (as an example) is what NC did with its RttT money for CCR:

From the blast of the past concerning the screen shot above, comes this excerpt that will help continue the point I am making today.
Career & College: Ready, Set, Go! is designed to mobilize all of these individuals and groups toward the goal of graduating all students from high school prepared for further education and successful employment. This high-level goal encompasses many smaller goals and objectives that will move North Carolina public schools forward. In their successful application for federal Race to the Top funding, state education leaders capitalized on the work that was already underway and received federal funding to help North Carolina move further and faster toward realizing Career & College: Ready, Set, Go! for every school district, every public school and every student.

Now, notice that “public schools” were stressed. Back when this was written, most school choices were not conforming to the CCR.
Fast forward to 2016..and every school choice, in some way or other is conforming to CCR!

This is NOT a NC specific problem, either, this is a nation-wide one. Before we move on, take one more look at this old NC document. Notice the SAT ties, the AP ties, the post-secondary aspects (community colleges and major 4 year universities). Notice the timeline. The 2016-17 school year is the LAST year before ESSA’s complete implementation is to take place. (Per the ESSA, everything must be in place no later than the 2017-18 school year.) Again, a nation-wide problem, not just a NC issue!

So what do you think the rest of the States will do with the money coming down from D.C. with the CCR ties in the ESSA? If what the States did with RttT is an example, they will use it to continue breeding master conformers NOT citizens with free will! However, if your State didn’t get RttT funds, you still have the CCR..thanks to the CCSS Machine! All so conformity can be the end result of education for workforce needs.

 

Those Handy, Dandy Air, Inc. CCR Pocket Guides:

These are rather dated as well, the post I found was from 2013. Again, before the ESSA and its passage, but also another portion of the CCR foundation. It is here we will see the point in time when our States truly sold us out.

The Guides were created in a way to ‘help state and local policymakers and practitioners implement the college- and career-ready reforms included in the flexibility waivers approved by the U.S. Department of Education. In 2011, the Department of Education waived certain provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in exchange for reform plans related to four principles, including achieving college and career readiness.’  What were the other 3 reform plans? Revamping state waivers to adhere to CCR; how CCR would be defined; and using best practices to help shape the States for CCR. Air, Inc. just helped promote the CCR to the States (at that point, 35 in total). It was the ESEA Flexibility Waivers the States received to help them conform to CCR

It is important to point out that the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) does contain a passage where it declares the ESEA Flexibility Waivers as expired. However, there are other passages where the CCR lives on without them. Go back and read those Flex Waivers,however.
Why? The ESSA gives MORE power to the SEAs(State Education Agencies) in alignment for CCR’s Outcome Based Education. ESSA also gives the Feds MORE power when it comes to approving any State’s education plan. The old Flex Waivers study by Air, Inc. will tell you the CCR was rapidly replacing the importance of high school graduation. Why? The economic impacts!
The CCR Pocket Guide (below); read it to also see the involvement of the NGA (National Governors Association), the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers), the P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) and how the embedding of CCR into the CCSS (Common Core State Standards) would bring about all this conformity!

Warriors, did you catch that? CCR was embedded INTO the CCSS! Since the ESSA embraces CCR that means the CCSS will live on! ESSA does use the phrase Common Core State Standards Initiative(CCSSI) 4 times in its Final Conference Report (1,059 pages), which means it is ALSO in the 391 page ESSA Final Law!! (Pages 130 uses CCSSI in relation to standards states use and their assessments; 825 uses CCSSI in relation to State educational waivers; 843 uses CCSSI in relation to federal financial support to the States; and 859 in relation to not prohibiting the States from withdrawing from the CCSS.)

Warriors, ask yourselves this: How can you keep the Initiative without the Initiative’s Standards??

ESSA’s CCR:

When you search for the exact phrase ‘college career readiness’ in the ESSA Final Report, you will receive nothing. However, shorten it to one word (in my search, I used ‘readiness’). I found the following page numbers which will tie up the point:
CCR is most definitely embedded in the ESSA! It isn’t going away!

Also of note from the HELP website is a document they have in their archives titled
This undated document is from the WV Dept. of Education and its addressing of the (then) newly released, voluntary CCSS.
Why do I bring this up? The search I conducted was for ‘College Career Readiness’, the description HELP has this document labeled with is that the NGA and the CCSSO published the CCR Standards(see the screen shot). Do you see the connection? The NGA and CCSO did publish Standards, but they were the CCSS, this document serves as proof the CCS AND the CCR are one and the same!

Tech Thursday: STEM/CCSS Push, Making it American?

For this “Tech Thursday”, I’d like to share with you fellow anti CCSS Warriors, how STEM (also tied to Common Core) is pushing more and more for “American Made”.

Is STEM really tied to CCSS? Absolutely! In the recent past I shared with you how the STEM Act of 2015 is tied to it, as I have repeatedly in other past articles.

If we are to fight EVERYTHING about CCSS, we MUST include STEM. We MUST acknowledge CCSS is more than just ‘standards’,  it includes “Career Tech Education”, “College and Career Readiness”, “STEM”, “Career Pathways”, “Career Clusters”, and more.

The D.C. Push:

Federal level education efforts and the legislation created to support those efforts is nothing new. It is however, against the U.S. Constitution! The power to create education reform is reserved, per the U.S. Constitution, for the states. ‘State sovereignty’ is the phrase used.

In my previous article revealing the PCAST report given to the U.S. President as efforts to be taken via a federal level, made embedding STEM into Common Core State Standards! Since that 2010 Report, millions of dollars have been spent, as well as millions of fallacies have been spun about American education. Sadly, those efforts and the resulting pieces of legislation aren’t slowing down anytime soon.

So, what’s some of the latest dribble D.C. is spewing? I’m so glad you’re curious! Below is a screen shot from Twitter. The event causing the ‘tweet’? Read on, Warriors!

If you noticed one of the hash tags above, it says “#MakeItInAmerica”. What is “Make It in America”? It’s tied to the Export-Import Re-authorization. In a nutshell, another U.S. elected official (Bryan Higgins of NY) announced yesterday (10/28/15) that the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to re-authorize the Export-Import Bank. What does this mean for education? Per Rep. Higgins, “The Export-Import Bank levels the playing field, allowing for American businesses and workers to remain internationally competitive.”

Can you tell where this is going? How many times have we heard from the CCSS Machine that our students need ’21st century skills for 21st century jobs’, or that ‘to be globally competitive’, and so on? ‘Businesses need skilled workers’, as well. That too, is another yarn the CCSS Machine has spun. It helps support all the P3 (public, private partnerships) meddling in education. I know you’ve noticed it.

Anti CCSS/STEM takeaway point, the more positive the relationship, the more jobs. The more jobs, the more educational reform we will continue to be subject to!

Rep. Higgins’ announcement said there was bipartisan support in the House. So what did the Republicans say or do toward ‘Make It in America’? There are at least 3 media reports from 2014 which state the House Republicans blocked the bill. (‘Huffington Post’, ‘Daily KOS’, and ‘Our Future’. Bring on the STEM, CCSS, Please:

As you know, if you’ve read my blog long enough that I normally do not cover the political ups/downs in DC EXCEPT when it deals directly with CCSS/CTE and all the other names it hides behind. So far, you’ve gotten a pretty good idea where the Congress is taking aligned education, but, as a Warrior Against the Core, you want to know where the CCSS/STEM I’ve referred to so far is actually showing up.

It will continue to show up in the appropriations (money). It will continue to surface wherever there are conversations about ‘closing the skills gap’ or ‘getting more businesses in education’. It will continue to be thrust upon our states, schools, and everyone in education participating in Career Tech Education/Career Clusters/Career Pathways.

To prove this, consider the evidence I showed you when I wrote about the STEM Affinity Network, where Race to the Top funds were devoted to STEM education/careers. The 2015 Fed Budget:

Go back and look at the articles I wrote in Dec. 2014 about the (then) upcoming Federal Budget. There you can see exactly where our tax dollars were being funneled. A huge chunk went to the CCS Machine (which includes STEM) Use it as a tool to hone in on your state’s CCSS/STEM expenses. You should see CCR (college/career readiness), CTE (career tech education) or it might be CP (Career Pathways) or CC (Career Clusters). Look for a line by line state budget first, then access a local school board or district’s budget and look at the line by line figures. You should see a distinct pattern of where these funds are going. Make note of how many involve activities including the community (will encompass after school enrichments, camps, field trips, etc.)

Where our taxes are going to help support the CCSS Machine:
$300 million for a new Race to the Top (student longitudinal data system on a state-wide platform); $14.4 billion for Title One College/Career Readiness; $1.1 billion for those 21st Century Community Learning Centers (think cradle to grave agenda); $100 million for “Promise Neighborhoods” (cradle to career initiative); $70 million for Statewide Longitudinal Student Data System; $200 million for ConnectED (trains teachers to be CCSS and college/career readiness aligned, assessments, digital aspects, and more in the classroom); $5 billion for incentives (RESPECT) teachers who’ve completed College/Career Readiness training, building like-minded network; $1.3 billion in mandatory preK for everyone; $165 million for “Investment in Innovation” (i3) which will use a best-practices approach to education while affording the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Education a whopping $49.5 million to transform technology; $150 million to redesign high schools so they become college/career ready centers; $170 million for STEM revitalizing (of that, $110 million goes to LEAs to create a STEM network; $40 million to create a teacher STEM Pathway, $20 million to create a National STEM Teacher Corps;$1.1 billion to reauthorize the Perkins Act (means even more Career Tech Ed that’s aligned to CCSS).”
