Under Our Noses

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it hundreds of times that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) is a coined acronym in use to deceive us all.
Yes, I know, I’ve heard it before, “But, Lynne we’ve always had science and math. We’ve had engineering in the past and technology, too.”
HOWEVER, Warriors, the deception is that by creating an acronym with things we are familiar with, the agenda is easier to be implemented.

What do I mean? A few years ago, I wrote an article showing you how the NSF, National Science Foundation (a government funded agency of the USA), was tasked to come up with a marketing tool to ‘win’ the nation over with.

WHY? Evidence suggests their ties with the UN (United Nations). More to the point the UN’s damnable SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). STEM was (and is) the vehicle to change the course of education. At least according to the UN SDG Toolkit (created here in America). (*Note: you can access and read the Toolkit for yourselves. Look for the link under the Paragraph “From 2002”. The sentence beginning with “Tool Kit” is where you’ll find the document.)

THEN, once the acronym was selected, the President (Obama) had to be influenced. I also revealed HOW he was influenced (a PCAST Report).  (*Note: when you go back and read the embedded links, you’ll notice that the Presidential influence began well before President Obama, especially in regards to the NSF.)

pressurecooker

So, what WAS the agenda and does it still survive under our current President?

Agenda: STEM ushered in about the same time as Common Core, so no one would notice. Use STEM to create a STEM people with a STEM education for STEM jobs and a STEM economy. In other words more mastery based education, or as it’s been sold to us, competency based education (CBE). Why CBE? Skilled workers. Skilled in STEM, that is.

Is the Agenda surviving? Absolutely! In fact, President Trump is a huge supporter of STEM because it means jobs. As we know, jobs means economy.

However, Warriors, the STEM economy is NOT for America, it’s for the global good and their economy.

U.S. Sec. DeVos has done an outstanding’ job of promoting STEM, too. Since STEM is global and she has seen it as her duty to sell our nation out to global mastery based education, you can be assured STEM will be popping up in current proposed DC legislation.

STEM In Legislation for 2018 And Beyond:

Warriors, right now, we are nearing the end of Fiscal 2018. On October 1, 2018, our government begins FY 2019.Currently,  STEM is woven into several of the FY 2019 Budget Bills. I shared with you, back in August, several of the ways in which, not only STEM would live on, but the top-down educratic control.

The biggest ways STEM will survive, as well as the educratic control are apprenticeships, CTE (Career Tech Education), College/Career Readiness, and P3s (public private partnerships).

partnership

STEM’s P3 Legislation:

Warriors, if you’ve not seen what a STEM P3 would look like, consider NASA.

More recently, there’s been concocted a lesser known legislative bill.
It’s HR 5119, simply titled The P3 Act. This Act was introduced back in February 2018 and hasn’t seen much action (if any) since then. However, what the Bill contains cannot be acted upon until there’s the money to bring its agenda to fruition!

hr5119

ICYMI: The researched evidence behind the Harvard/Pearson project turned educratic overreach. You can also learn more from this archived article.

So what does the P3 Act stand for, Warriors? After all, every DC Bill has some sort of acronym to it. “P3” in this instance stands for  ‘‘Partnerships for Progress and Prosperity Act’’. It’s a fancy way to ‘dress up’ the regular P3 meaning (public private partnership). The Bill has one sponsor and 5 co-sponsors and is currently in the U.S. House of Representative’s Education and Workforce Committee. Rep. Bill Foster from IL is the sponsor. If you look at Foster’s campaign donations the U.S. Dept. of Energy contributed the most money. If you look at the committees Foster serves the nation in, Energy in among them.
(*Note: in 2017, in Foster’s district, Joliet Junior College received a NSF Grant for STEM.)

Here’s how the P3s will play into STEM and ‘education’:
1) Requires the U.S. Dept. of Ed to award grants to LEAs (Local Education Agencies) for STEM, exclusively.
2) The grants MUST be used in the following ways:
a) to improve education in K-12 and higher education institutions
b) every awardee is required to  partner with a STEM business or employer
c) internships and apprenticeships are mandated to be included
d) development of STEM curricula and metrics
e) dual credit courses are mandated
f) tutoring/mentoring in STEM, especially for underrepresented student groups
g) STEM activities and events outside the schools and in the communities are mandated for teachers and students
h) after-school STEM and summer STEM programs
i) purchase of STEM resources for STEM instruction

The U.S. Dept of Education (in these STEM grants) will pay special attention to any LEA who promotes STEM for students/teachers; uses tech based content; pairs mentors/tutors with students struggling to meet STEM benchmarks; and/or targets low-cost or free lunch eligible students.

One last mandate from the P3 Act for STEM: all grant award ‘winners’ MUST match 50 % of their award. The fifty percent must be non-federal funds and can be in cash or ‘in kind’ (which means any type of support in exchange for work or other services like free food or free housing.
(*Note: cash received in this manner is non-taxable. In kind can be claimed as a tax write off by the giver, but not the receiver unless otherwise advised.)

workforcenochoice

Warriors, when you read this 8 page Bill (HR 5119), you’ll see the familiar educratic buzzwords/phrases like ‘rigorous’, ‘evidence based’, ‘engagement’ (especially in the classroom), and my personal ‘favorite’: “high quality research”. Now the irony of this entire Bill is that is based of RECOMMENDATIONS, not objective facts.

The Bill also cites the PISA (Program for International Student Assessment), which is geared for not only CCR (College/Career Readiness) aka: Common Core, but the OECD’s (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) workforce based global system of CBE (Competency Based Education).

OECD is where the horrible label of ‘human capital’ comes from.

ICYMI: NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and others are STEM disciples, too. (*Note: The State Dept. and all the agencies mentioned were/are CCSS Machine member groups, too.)

Closing:

Warriors, if ever there’s a time to be bucking the system it’s now. Those chilling words (at least to me) about the STEM people for a STEM nation are playing out right under our noses. Are we so stuffed with compliance and apathy, we don’t smell the stench of agenda? The agenda TAKES our freedom! The agenda erodes our education! formerusa

It’s Saturday Morning

Hello all you Anti Fed Ed Warriors! We’ve reached the next-to-the-last day of 2017. We’ve had many highs and lows in fighting our War Vs the Core this year.

When I last wrote you, you learned about some ways in which not only education, but health care, is being used as tools for total alignment in our lives. The evidence shows a deeply sinister shift toward manipulation of our minds, as well as confinement for our students when it comes to what they will do with their lives.

It is my belief we should be looking more into things like this. Why? We can’t fight what we do not see coming at us.
****************************************************************
In the “Educating Our Health?” article, you were able to see how gaming is being used as a weapon to target students. I also suggested you look at all the other NIH (National Institutes of Health) SEPA (Science Education Partnership Awards) projects which are helping fund moves like this.

For example, while the NIH/SEPA gave NC State University big bucks to create and implement a game bent on steering kids towards pre-determined healthcare careers, funds were awarded in Denver for what’s called ‘citizen science’.

What’s ‘citizen science’? A screen shot below from the Project page (added emphasis is mine)

citizenhealth

Warriors, we’ll get back to the NIH/SEPA later, it’s the thought of ‘citizen science’ I would like to stay in for a little longer. Why? It deals with Saturdays.

My TV On Saturday Mornings:

satmornWarriors, when was the last time you turned on your TVs on Saturday morning and watched? I’ve seen what’s there. IF you have access to the channels where you CAN find cartoons, that’s great. However, what’s the theme underneath those cartoons?

IF you’re like me and you have removed that access, what’s on the antenna channels on Saturday mornings? Education/informational shows! Shows filled with farces and fallacies when it comes to education. How? Read on, Warriors!

**********************************************************************
This is a screen shot of the official Xploration Station TV show. This image I’ve captured lasts only a few seconds before it’s replaced with the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) award-winning show information.

STEMsat

According to the “About Us” video (which continually flashes several images at you in rapid speed, along with a Carl Sagan quote), Xploration Station is where ‘entertainment and science intersect’. If you visit the website, notice that the usually-only-seen-on Fox TV show is also available on Hulu, Amazon, Yahoo, and Netflix. This one show reaches over 4 million people.

Warriors, while I know there are other such shows on Saturday mornings now, I chose to use Xploration Station as an example because of what the spoken content was telling the audience. As the show comes on you hear the introduction of how this show is rated E/I (educational and informative). You also hear how this show is designed for the entire family to get involved in science.

Warriors, Xploration Station also ‘is the country’s ONLY broadcast destination dedicated exclusively to STEM EDUCATION for teens and families.’

Xploration Station has some pretty big partners, too. Zero Gravity (Zero-G) Corporation, National Geographic, and more. If you do not know about Zero Gravity Corporation, go here, scroll down to “About” and read how a former NASA employee started this company. To see the National Geographic information, go here.

Warriors, did you know there are federal education mandates for TV? Below, you’ll see how Xploration Station complies.

satfed

Just before the TV Show first aired (began in 2014), B & C (Broadcast and Cable) reported WHY the Xploration Station was being trotted out for early Saturday mornings.  It was because America, as a nation, was falling behind in STEM education.

Warriors, this one show is a block of at least 2 hours! When ESSA’s (Ever Student Succeeds Act) mandates were signed into law, one of the ones I pointed out was how the push for increased overreach into our homes would be seen. The mandate of 24/7/365 access to technology for educational purposes was not a joke. The mandate for learning anytime, in any location, including your home has become a reality. We not only should ‘starve the beast’, we should turn off the technology!

Meanwhile, At NIH/SEPA:

The mentality of let’s get the entire family on the STEM bandwagon is at a rabid pace.
In Seattle, WA, another SEPA winner has a family specific STEM program. Why? Because enough families aren’t engaged enough with STEM.

The CCSS Machine’s not done with us yet, look what’s coming in 2018:

SEPA2018

To access the grant information for both arms of the NIH programs, go here and here.

If you’re not sure how STEM fits into the CCSS Machine, simply consider this for 2018 and beyond. The UN (United Nations) is a connector.

Warriors, we KNOW the two are connected. Congress may or may not. Evidence proves that regardless of their knowledge of HOW STEM and CCSS are connected, they’ve turned a blind eye. I believe they’ll solider on in compliance to all that is happening in our educational system. Is it wrong? Absolutely! Is it up to us to put a stop to all that we can? Indeed!

Closing:

Warriors, do not simply resolve to fight back against the CCSS Machine in 2018, plan your actions now! The window of opportunity for us to protect our students is closing faster than we want to admit. Be brave in 2018! Stand up in 2018! Speak out, even if your voice shakes. We were not born to be compliant people. We were born a free people. Free, we must remain!

The Warrior’s Accoutrements

Today’s article will feature a variety of informational tools you can use (aka ‘accoutrements’) for our continued War vs. the Core.

Money Talks In This War:

1) ICYMI: My no-holes-barred look into President Trump’s Proposed Budget. The CCSS Machine’s education reform takes money to keep up its agenda. Our government has been a party to this for long enough. If we are to see the end of Common Core during Mr. Trump’s service, we MUST use truthful evidence to hold ALL of D.C. accountable, not just a select few.

2) My 7 page “Anti Fed Ed Common Core and all Its Related Activities” document. Within these 7 pages is a breakdown of priorities, we as Warriors must address surrounding the federal budget. See: AntiFedEdCommonCoreandallItsRelatedActivities

Within Mr. Trump’s plans, I found 85 ways his requests KEEP the CCSS Machine going. My priorities list gives you a mountain of accoutrements to use, just look for the highlighted words, you’ll be able to access years worth of researched evidence to support the priorities.
We have no time to waste in crunching numbers to wipe out nationally led education.
(*Note: Mr. Trump’s Proposal must be approved by Congress. We’ve also yet to see what Congress has laid out for education reform.)

As we learned before, all federal Cabinet Departments are in on the transforming education from academic based to workforce training.

Control From Above:

1) ‘New’ State Templates for Writing Your ‘Own’ ESSA Plans.
Yes, my Warrior friends, the U.S. Dept. of Ed recently released an updated version for how our States should formulate their educational plans. However, with the first ESSA deadline a few days away (April 3, 2018), how much difference is really in the new version? If a State is to be free enough to formulate its own education plan, is the Dept. of Ed still micromanaging?
ICYMI, the press release is embedded above. I include it so you can not only read the ‘feel good’ language  has chosen, but you can see embedded links to the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), Great Schools of America, etc.
(*Note: In the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s letter to the CCSSO, you’ll find how DeVos chose to promote a ‘concerted effort’ between States and the organization.)

Here’s your Warrior accoutrement! From Page 2 of the ‘canned’ U.S. Dept. of Ed’s ESSA State Plan.

accoutrementYou can find the new ESSA States guide, here.  States are not being given an option when it comes to working with the CCSSO.

Compare the above screen shot to the one below and see what changed from Dec. 2016 to March 2017:

ncessadraft

2) CCSSO, AdvancEd, and the Aspen Institute
Back in Sept. 2016, North Dakota Dept. of Public Instruction staff traveled to a CCSSO Meeting held in Atlanta, GA. As it happened, AdvancED was also holding a Symposium which fit right in with this meeting.  AdvancED even suggested you do some pre-Symposium reading. The goal of the Syposium? To supply State leaders with pre-formatted State Plans devoloped by AdvancED .
The topic of both the CCSSO’s and AdvancEd’s meetings? ESSA Implementation at the State level. While I’ve been unsuccessful in finding evidence of the CCSSO’s meeting held at the same time. I did find the ND notes about the meeting. See below:

ccssoatl

If you’d like more information on PTESS, click here.

Not long after the duo of CCSSO/AdvancEd influence over our State Education leaders, CCSSO teamed up with the Aspen Institute for another ESSA ‘guiding tool’.
Warriors, for us, it’s an accoutrement! How? It reveals how these pro CCSS groups are telling States how to act, what to do, what to say, and where to seek help.

What About Asssesments?
Warriors
, it’s no secret we’re in the ‘opt out’ season. We’ve seen the ESSA evidence about keeping the 95 percent assessment rate. States, via ESSA’s mandates, will include the participation rates.

Where? In the State’s accountability reports. States will have to turn these into the U.S. Dept. of Ed. Why? To keep receiving state-formulated grants.

1) An accoutrement we can use is the Fair Test’s latest on why and how to ‘opt out’. However, this comes with a warning. Fair Test is backed by the CCSS Machine and is tied to the New World Order Foundation. Much of the ideology held by NWOF is tied back to the global mindset found in the UN (United Nations). National Education Association (NEA) is also a key backer for Fair Test. Taking into consideration how sold out to the CCSS Machine and ESSA, the NEA is, don’t trust their advice!

2) What about the global push for assessing education?
Warriors, we know Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) isn’t  going away. PISA is a tool of the OCED (Organisation for Co-operation and Economic Development). OCED loves to work with the UN.
Here’s an accoutrement you can use. The Center for Curriculum Redesign (CCR), has published a series of articles about the need for MORE skill based assessments. This is only one part of the puzzle the CCSS Machine uses for advancing CBE (Competency Based Education)

4d
I found out about this when a stranger posted to my Common Core Diva Facebook page with the message to help save future doctors, workers, etc. Since I’d never heard of this person before, I wanted to check it out. Here’s the article. Below, see the screen shot from the end of the competency based assessment article. I’ve underlined 4 easily identifiable CCSS Machine supporters.

assesssupport
The CCR has 2 ‘must have’ accoutrements. The first addresses the 21st Century need for more assessments. The second addresses the workforce/skill based ‘needs’.
Why these are such a prize set of accoutrements is they are designed leaders and the more corporate minded education reformer. These will tell us what is coming and how our students will be over-assessed to fit a job slot, not their minds.
(*Note, Warriors, take your time exploring the CCR’s website. You’ll find international education groups, participating countries (example: Finland, which may be why we’re constantly comparing America to them), corporate partners, philanthropic groups, and more.)

Closing:

Warriors, our fight is far from over. Grab your shields, gather your fellow Warriors, and let’s use these accoutrements with ‘gusto’!

100, 500, and Still Counting

Celebrating my 100 anti CCSS/Fed Ed blog followers AND my 500th post! We’ve come quite a long way together. I pray our time together will continue to be fruitful. We seek not fame or fortune in what we do to fight the CCSS Machine. We ARE, however, leaving a legacy of patriotism, devotion to remaining free, and love for our people, regardless of educational choices. We do what we do to help each other, not to stand on each other’s shoulders. How absolutely refreshing it would be to see our leaders do the same.

Numbers..Everywhere!

There’s a double purpose to using numbers in this article. One of the best ways to get news out is social media. However, some sites are more oppressive than others. So, purpose #1 is to celebrate, purpose #2 is to hide the article in plain sight on social media.

I’m Not the Only One Spinning Numbers:

ICYMI: My latest article which was banned on Facebook revealed how numbers will be shifted to abuse teachers via ESSA and Title 2 Funds; how special needs and their IDEA funds via ESSA get squeezed; how numerous families across our nation will now be receiving “Family Engagement Ambassadors” aka U.S. Dept. of Ed Parent Nannies.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/bon-voyage-hello-grinders/

Then, there are the numbers CCSS Machine member/publisher McGraw-Hill are trying to spin in their most recent survey. I just found this one yesterday.

mcgrawed

Oh, I cannot stop chuckling over how stupid this company assumes us to be by a quiz like this!

dumb

So, what questions does McGraw-Hill have? The brief introduction tells you they got together with top education research groups to create this. Can’t you just smell the CCSS Machine stench already? But wait, it gets deeper. Scroll down to the bottom of the main page and you’ll see it’s a survey to point to the 2016 elections!! I kid you not.

Q1) Proficiency in math question. (Source: the NAEP scores)
Q2)  About ELLs (English Language Learners) (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed’s National Center for Educational Stats)
Q3)  U.S.’s world rank in reading. (Source: PISA)
Q4)  Low-income students percentage. (Source: Southern Education Foundation)
Q5)  Internet speed in schools. (Source: Education Superhighway) *Note: according to the explanation, 3/4 of the country NOW exceeds the FCC’s requirement.
Q6)   High school graduation numbers. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed)
Q7) Cost of remediation in colleges. (Source: Education Reform Now)
Q8) How long it takes to graduate college. (Source: National Student Clearinghouse Research Center)

To take the survey: http://www.mheducation.com/ideas/how-much-you-know-us-education-quiz.html

Oh, and you’ll find it ironic that I ‘flunked’ this survey from the “how many did you get correct” viewpoint. Oh well, flunking a CCSS Member group survey is not something I will fret over. On the more serious side of this survey though, look at the questions agenda points, the sources cited, and what will be more than likely coming soon.

Remember, the ‘fine print’ points all this to the November 2016 elections. Helping drive the conversation? None other than McGraw-Hill’s CEO. Read his article, https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/lets-talk-education-david-levin

If you would like more CCSS Machine numbers, McGraw-Hill ever-so-nicely embedded their Workforce Readiness 2016 Study in the CEO’s article..and think, just in time to influence our votes.

mcgrawwork
Check out this bunch of numbers from the Study:

I’ve got an idea, use this screen shot as proof that your State’s CTE (Career Tech Education), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), as well as CCSS (Common Core State Standards or by their ‘new’ name, CCR, College and Career Readiness) Tracks, Paths, etc. AREN’T WORKING!!

This Study also plays the ‘gender card’. That’s something you may wish to see. You may wish to see how McGraw-Hill’s plays into Pearson Publishing ‘gender intelligence’ CCSS Machine plan. If you didn’t know about Pearson Publishing ‘GI’, I’ve got your back.

Need More Numbers?

10/17/16: US PIE (United States Parents Involved in Education) “Keep Your Child Home From School Day” to protest the U.S. Dept. of Ed on its 40th anniversary. See:
http://www.uspie.org/protest-fed-ed-.html

I have understood via social media that more groups besides US PIE are doing something ‘radical’ for Ed’s 40th anniversary.  As long as we Warriors Against the Core are rebelling against educational tyranny on that day (or for that matter, every day), I think the message will become even louder. If we could unite our events, beyond  our usual circles of influence, we could teach Congress what true teamwork CAN do! As always, know that I am all for speaking out, just be safe and respectful.

This number:

Congress, 9/29/16; call! Protest the move to remove American internet and give it total global access. Knowing how much ESSA is spending on digital, Internet, and all related parts, we NEED our privacy as in tact as we can to protect our children.

See my dear fellow Warriors (Gretchen Logue/Cheri Kiesecker) warning article!

Closing:

Warriors, I’ll have more news about numbers and legislation soon. In the meantime, fight, fight, with all your might!  I leave you with a short clip from a TV show in the 1960s called “The Prisoner”. The show was one my Daddy loved. I hated it. I was so young, it scared me.

While I don’t know the entire plot, I do know the main character was not free to be himself. He was assigned a number; his name no longer necessary. Of all the things we give our children, their names are their very first gift upon their birth. Their names are beautifully hand-picked, lovingly chosen, and carry on our family identities. Much like “The Prisoner”, our children are in danger of losing who they truly are.

FTF: “Human Capital”: The ‘New’ Name for Citizens

How the Initiative behind all that Common Core encompasses SEES your students like this.
How the Initiative behind all that Common Core encompasses classifies your students.

Well, Anti CCSS Warriors, Labor Day Weekend 2015 is behind us. Yet the Common Core State Standards and its Initiative (which includes CCSS, Career Technical Education, College and Career Readiness, Aligned Apprenticeships, STEM, and SO much more) continues to grind away at our students…of ALL ages. How does an upcoming UN General Assembly play into all this? Let’s find out today! Then, catch me tomorrow morning on my weekly guest radio appearance as we discuss this and more about ‘human capital’!

First, the Upcoming Assembly:

The United Nations (UN) is getting set in to have its General Assembly. When is it? September 15, 2015. Where will it be held? In New York City, New York. How will education, especially geared to become ‘human capital’, be involved? Read on, my fellow Warriors!

Secondly, the “Human Capital” Agenda:

What is the definition of ‘human capital’? Well, that depends on which resource you use. For example, I’m using the “World Economic Forum” descriptions as evidence. Why the WEF? I chose this one as it uses the UNESCO/WHO/ILO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization/World Health Organization/International Labor Organization) and other international groups’ pillars for ‘human capital’! While I’ll share the entire report’s link with you, here’s an excerpt which will explain the pillars of being ‘human capital’.

“The Four Pillars are:  The Index a) The Education pillar contains indicators relating to quantitative and qualitative aspects of education across primary, secondary and tertiary levels and contains information on both the present workforce as well as the future workforce.  b) The Health and Wellness pillar contains indicators relating to a population’s physical and mental well– being, from childhood to adulthood. c) The Workforce and Employment pillar is designed to quantify the experience, talent, knowledge and training in a country’s working–age population. d) The Enabling Environment pillar captures the legal framework, infrastructure and other factors that enable returns on human capital.”

The Report will go on to share with you that in all, there are 51 indicators of measuring humans as ‘capital’. In Pillar A, there are 12; in Pillar B, there are 14; in Pillar C, you’ll find 16; and in the last Pillar, D, there are 9. Below is a screen shot of Pillar A (they refer to it as “Pillar One”).

Also featured in this report are all the ‘sub-categories’ used to measure citizens. Among them: their private data, their talents, and, their well-being. Get the entire report:
WEF_HumanCapitalReport_2013 (Please note, this report is from 2013, but the information is still very important to those of us in the War Against the Core. It is also over 500 pages.)

Human Capital via OCED (Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development) and the UN:

Back in 2009, there are was a meeting hosted by OCED. A big topic, which was receiving much attention, was ‘human capital’. The entire pdf presentation is included in this article for you, but, I’ve got a screen shot you need to see.
2009humancapital

One of the ways to measure ‘human capital’ revealed in this pdf presentation was the PISA assessments. (PISA stands for Program for International Student Assessment). The Warriors at “What Is Common Core” have an article which I’m including the link to. Questions 33 are 34 concern the PISA and CCSS. See: https://whatiscommoncore.wordpress.com/tag/pisa/  Then contrast that with the OCED’s CCSS and PISA report. See: http://www.oecd.org/pisa/keyfindings/PISA2012-US-CHAP4.pdf
Once you read their ‘rhetoric’, be sure to balance it with the real truth about PISA and CCSS! See my fellow anti CCSS Warrior, LadyLiberty1885’s scorcher about Pearson Publishing’s ties to the PISA. Access: http://ladyliberty1885.com/2015/03/04/pearson-is-everywhere-pisa-2018/

Back to the Upcoming UN General Assembly:

So, my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors, what will the 2015 UN General Assembly hold for education? Well, aside from the above, the Assembly will consider 2 resolutions which will definitely have MORE aligned education/human capital components! One resolution contains the MDGs from the UN (Millennium Development Goals). Of those goals, at least 2 will further the UN’s push for ‘global education’. One goal will target the youngest learners; another goal will use educational lessons to further the social justice surrounding gender issues. To see all the MDGs: http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/

RMT: Why Is the Deck Still Being Stacked to Serve CCSS?

Why are those in charge of so much in education STILL stacking the deck to serve CCSS?
Why are those in charge of so much in education STILL stacking the deck to serve CCSS?

Just a day or so ago, EAG News shared Truth in American Education’s story that a whopping 17% of parents actually like CCSS. So, that leaves a tremendous amount of us who DON’T like it! So, IF this is a true representation of America, WHY are so many in charge of educational products STILL stacking the deck FOR CCSS? This is our “Riddle Me This” post for today.

First up, The 17% story:

In case you missed it, here’s the link to the story. See: http://eagnews.org/just-17-of-americans-support-common-core/ Written by Shane Vander Hart, this article states that while 17 % don’t mind CCSS at all, 40 % don’t like CCSS and 42 % of parents are undecided. Now, there’s a lot more information given in Mr. Hart’s article and I’ll leave you to digesting it on your own.

However, it is my strong belief we may have the answer to our riddle almost immediately! How’s that, you ask? Well, IF I were in the market to sell you on the merits of CCSS, wouldn’t I stop at nothing to entice you? I would do all I could to sell you, after all, there’s lots of money in it for me if I do.

Think about it from a more simple approach. One of my favorite card games. It involves a lot of ‘selling’ my opponents as to why my line of thinking is better than anyone else’s in order to win something.

Those who are stacking the educational deck are doing almost the same thing. They are trotting out any line of logic possible..whether it’s fact based or trumped up. Any pro CCSS group known to be conducting some study at any point in time (at least recently) is now THE absolute ‘gospel truth’ in education. Let me give you a recent example.

“Education Week”:

When I first subscribed to this online newsletter, I had no idea it was funded by so many of the same big name foundations supportive of CCSS. Thus, making almost everything reported vented toward CCSS. When I did discover this fact, I was able to discern the lies from the truth much more easily. However, not everyone is into the amount of research I am.

So, IF I were one of those 42% on the fence about CCSS, I’d take a look at the website. I’d notice all the awards given, all the community benevolence going on, etc. I’d not think to look at WHO is funding the on-line news. Well, now you can! Here’s the link: http://www.edweek.org/info/about/philanthropy.html?intc=thed What a difference it makes knowing that the SAME foundations helping to bring us the Core are now bringing us so much news about it!

EW’s recent story shared that U. S. students, once again, are coming up short when compared to their global peers. (see: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2015/02/18/us-millennials-come-up-short-in-global.html?cmp=ENL-CM-NEWS2). How’s this a ‘stacked deck toward CCSS’? Simple, the entire article bases ‘facts’ on a study conducted by ETS (Educational Testing Service). Here’s how EW described ETS, “a new study by the Education Testing Service Center for Research on Human Capital and Education in Lawrenceville, N.J.”

(see Education Week’s article in its entirety: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2015/02/18/us-millennials-come-up-short-in-global.html?cmp=ENL-CM-NEWS2)

ETS (Educational Testing Service)

In 2014, I wrote about the obsession CCSS has with assessing and I focused on ETS. You will really enjoy the research presented in the article as it ties ETS to the SBAC/PARCC and so much more. (see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/tag/ets/)

(*NOTE: In my original article, you’ll see how dependent many pro CCSS groups are acknowledging the ‘importance’ of NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress); you’ll see what other testing/assessments are considered the ‘top’ ones in the realm of all things CCSS related. NAEP has been used repeatedly to distort the need for national standards.)

ETS’s newest report, just out a few days ago, indeed paints a bleak picture for our American students. You can access ETS’s website: http://www.ets.org. As far as their research topics, see the below screen shot.

PIAAC (Programme of the International Assessment of Adult Competencies):

Ed Week’s article from above also gives PIAAC some visibility in the article. PIAAC is a part of OCED (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) (*NOTE: The spelling is correct for international English, not American English)

Here’s how PIAAC’s stacking the ‘skills’ deck:

 Closing:

So, our answer to our riddle has taken us all over the globe and we still can easily see WHY so many are stacking the deck in education to CCSS…to make it’s global rhetoric a reality. So, while the pro CCSS dealers are dealing a stacked deck to the 42% currently reported as undecided how they feel about CCSS, that means we, the opposed have just as much opportunity to win those 42% of parents support with the TRUTH about CCSS. What a great way to start off a new week in the battle for our students!
