“Gridding” Education

Hello, Anti Fed Ed Warriors

While we’ve all had a bit of rest from all that is going on and impacted education negatively, it’s time we get back to work.

Major attention is needed to combat the massive data mining bills from Congress, D.C.’s got a slew of CTE (Career Tech Education), Workforce based education, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) bills we’ve not been paying attention to.

Congress is using (mis-using) all the data to create more legislation to align work/jobs to education!

Every one of these bills absolutely continues the data sharing. They will continue to re-create our schools into workforce skills factories, not hallowed places of learning.

Imagine it this way, Warriors, our schools (of all choices) are in the middle of a grid.
The CCSS Machine has surrounded your child’s school on EVERY corner.
Your child’s education is secondary to their worth as an investment by the CCSS Machine.
That’s why terms like “human capital”, ‘talent pipeline’, and, others are SO degrading.

Below is my simple grid from previous articles.

workforcenochoice

The agenda hasn’t changed since I made this image; the bill numbers have.

From Current Congressional Work:

1) S 1875 is the “Flexible Grid Infrastructure Act of 2017”.  (Warriors, note, ‘education’ isn’t in the title, but it’s in the fine print.)
Sponsor is Sen. Ron Wyden from OR. He’s a big CCSS Machine backer.
He was responsible for helping create CTE legislation on a national level in the 114th Session of Congress(*Note: the Bill in the Press Release embedded in the highlighted link is for CTE in middle schools and is called “Middle STEP Act”.)

S 1875 is currently in the Senate’s Energy and Natural Resources Committee. (*Note: The Chair for this Committee is a huge CCSS Machine member, Sen. Murkowski of AK.)

The supposed benefit of S 1875 is a more efficient energy system for America.
Woven into this Bill will be more independence and security while staying globally competitive as a nation.
Warriors, in this Bill, ‘energy’ is the broad category for not only electricity, but digital, technology, ANY kind of service or product using ‘energy’, as well as those providers of services/products.

“Education” is woven in 9 times in this “Grid”. Page 16 reveals a national communication program with customer-based education; Page 36 will involve our higher education buildings; Page 44 shows ‘model grids for power distribution’ in our homes, schools, etc.; Page 47, however, reveals the federal agencies and their authority when it comes to energy and all the training involved to work in energy. (See below):

S1875

If all this sounds brand new, it’s not. Back in July 2015, I published a two-part article on the US Smart Grid legislation and many others. Go back and look at the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s angle, THEN, for education, and compare it to NOW. (The document you are looking for is just above the White House paragraph.)

One more note for S 1875, it refers to a law from 1980, which has since been amended. It is this law which is driving Congress’s decisions on technology, data, innovation, and more.
*******************************************************
2) HR 2933, is the LEARNS Act. “LEARNS” stands for ‘Leveraging Effective Apprenticeships to Rebuild the National Skills’ Act. This massive agenda-driven bill would also expand the federal government’s role in education by creating a new office in the U.S. Dept. of Labor expressly for apprenticeships alignment to education.

Twenty-one Representatives have been involved in its introduction. It’s sitting in the House’s Education and Workforce Committee. As you know, Warriors, Rep. Foxx of NC is the chair of that Committee. Her love for CTE is no secret.

Below, is a screen shot from Page 2 of the HR 2933’s forty-nine pages:

HR2933Congress’s ‘findings’ include the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce’s Report that by 2020,  a shortage of workers without post-secondary credentials will a national plight. Warriors, I believe it is this 2013 Georgetown Report used. Congress also cites the Annie B. Casey Foundation and the Mathematica Policy Research as sources. (*Note: Mathematica is a Gates Foundation grant recipient.)

Warriors, the Georgetown Center is a non-profit group which has received funds from the Gates Foundation! That grant from Gates is as recent as 2016 and was over $3.3 million dollars. The purpose of the grant was to ‘support’ the research and policy agenda behind skilled workforce education in America!

Below is a screen shot from the Center. It is from a Report published July 11, 2017.

GEWCps

The House introduced HR 2933 in June of 2017.

The Career Pathways Report totally backs up the Congressional push for more CTE (which includes Career Pathways). According to the Press Release for this Report, curriculum alignment with workforce needs is a requirement.

ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is where you’ll find the mandate which cements having such a requirement.

On Page 5 of HR 2933, you’ll see the purpose of aligning apprenticeships to education is to carry out the mandates of both WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and ESSA’s.

That mandate? All education MUST be aligned to post-secondary readiness standards. Those post-secondary readiness standards have been branded “college and career readiness”, future-ready, choice-ready, ‘challenging state academic standards’, and more. All of these are re-brands for the same thing: Common Core!

Warriors, ICYMI, I revealed to you some time ago how Harvard University and Pearson helped get “Career Pathways” into the CCSS Machine’s reform via their “Pathways to Prosperity” Research Study. (*Note: Harvard’s also heavy into student data mining.)

Congress has relied on Harvard as well as Georgetown for ‘evidence’ and policy.

*************************************************************
3 and 4) The last two current proposed bills related to numbers 1 and 2 are a set of ‘sister bills’. The House’s version is HR 2865; the Senate’s is S 1193. The names are the same.
They are the “Better Education and Skills Training for America’s Workforce Act”.
The House’s version is in the Education and Workforce Committee; the Senate’s is in the Committee on Finance.

Both of these Bills are designed to give an update to the IRS tax codes so businesses can pay for education for employees. While that sounds great for businesses, what does this mean for the students of all ages and educational backgrounds? Below is a screen shot you may find interesting:

S1193
Warriors, ask yourselves this: With the current shift in education encompassing job training, does the current ‘federal apprenticeship registered program’ get expanded to include non government employees under the language of S 1193? I believe it will, based on all the research and evidence.

laborwheel

(* Note: ICYMI: When Workforce 3:1 was re-branded and how it ties to K-12 education.)

On Page 10 of S 1193, you’ll see the U.S. Dept. of Labor will get another expansion as far as offices/agencies for “qualified job training partnerships” (Public/Private Partnerships, P3s, which ESSA mandated had to be increased in education for ‘student success’).

This new office will get $1 billion dollars to use as tax credits for those participating. Page 11 is specific to point out the how all this will ‘allow non-traditional learners’ to be involved in workforce based learning for jobs.

Is there anything different is HR 2865? As far as agenda, not that I could see. I did see, however, that since these bills involve tax credits, that means the U.S. Treasury Dept. will have to be involved. This means MORE data mining/sharing.

There’s also some confusing language for businesses which invest in employee’s education as to ‘is it a tax credit for me’ or ‘is it a grant to them’? Warriors, this is taxpayer funding, ultimately. How will this impact every American when it comes to our national debt?

****************************************************

Warriors
, in HR 2933, the National Skills Act was mentioned. In 2015, I shared with you much about the “Skills Act”. ICYMI, look how Rep. Virginia Foxx was involved, look at the data mining, the purposed shift in education to meet jobs, not learning. Also look at the number of government agencies involved.

Closely tied to the National Skills Act is the National Skills Coalition. It’s a huge CCSS Machine organization in 100% support of CTE, STEM, and job apprenticeships replacing real education. Check out their 2017 State by State Report where data mining is going full grid to ensnare your citizens/students. This will prove a State level legislative shift which is feeding off the federal legislative shift. Why would the States do this to us? Fed-to-state funding streams.

Warriors, this is all the more reason we need to fight HR 7174, S 2046 (will set up a national data base on everyone in the name of education). The House and Senate versions of the College Transparency Act (HR 2434 and S 1211) will also create a massive data snooping base on everyone in the name of education.

Warriors, we do NOT have much time before Congress heads home for all the major holidays. From what I could tell, Dec. 15th, will be the last day of business in D.C. for Congress.

While D.C. thinks ‘skills’ can build America’s economy; D.C. is forgetting it’s ‘killing’ academics in the meantime! ALL these bills are creating a gridlock on us. We must fight back!

The Global Game

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, we well know the ‘fed ed’ wouldn’t exist as it does right now, if it weren’t for the global education agenda. Just last week, while writing for the Patriot Institute, I came across the World Education, Inc. website.

worlded

Warriors, the list of groups funding this corporation is a massive one. So many of the CCSS Machine members. We’ll look closer at the World Education, Inc. in a bit. First, let’s use a game show perspective.

It’s not enough that many of these members have ganged up on America, no, it’s like the CCSS Machine is playing us for all it can. Like a sick and twisted game show. Instead of American education being treated like a winner with lots of wonderful prizes, education has been reduced to a wheel of disaster.

Why would I use a wheel? Look below:

essawheel

Warriors, this type of wheel includes everyone involved in education, not just students.
Below, is one wheel for teachers only:

fetters

Here’s another depiction of the disasters in education, thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). As you can see, no education choice will be a winner in escaping the overreaches.

USAESSACogs

Do you see Warriors? A wheel represents no beginning and no end. It goes around and around.

Think about some of the other images you’ve seen connecting the CCSS Machine to education. Chunks, clusters, pipelines, and, straight arrows.

World Education, Inc.:

Warriors, in the first screen shot, you may notice the ‘since 1951’ phrase. From their website, this excerpt, “Founded in 1951 to meet the needs of the educationally disadvantaged, World Education has worked in over 50 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, as well as in the United States. Working in concert with private, public, and nongovernmental organizations, World Education initiatives support effective local management and promote partnerships between local organizations.”

Here’s a YouTube video about the corporation. Below is a screen shot from the 2016 Annual Report:
worlded16

Source

What else is in the Annual Report? Teacher Professional Development in the US; funding from CCSS Machine members (The U.S. Dept. of Ed, The U.S. Dept. of Labor, UNICEF, the UN Foundation, and the AIR, American Institutes for Research); and the Board members with their organization’s name. CCSS Machine members Harvard University and MIT are among those represented.

From the World Education, Inc.’s archives, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s ‘contributions’:

worldedgates

Currently, there are 5 World Education initiatives in the U.S.

worldedus

Supporting these in the U.S. are 39 College and Universities and/or their Systems, 18 Corporations (including the GED Testing Service from Pearson), 12 Foundations (see below), 37 U.S. Government agencies (including the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s CTE, Career Tech Education, Office), 82 Non-profit groups (includes quite a few well known CCSS Machine member groups), and, 4 Union and/or Workforce Development Boards.

worldedfund

Warriors, in a week or so, the World Education, Inc. is having a Conference for workforce based education. One of the key note speakers? A 2009 Obama nominee for the U.S. Dept. of Education as the Under Secretary. She now leads the College Promise Program. Dr. Martha Kanter. Her bio can be found here. When I first wrote about the College Promise Campaign, the same logo you see below was used in a “Heads Up” Project. The overall goal for the College Promise: free community college for all.

kanterpromise

The World Education, Inc. has a monthly newsletter called the “Change Agent”. The current issue is all about Career Pathways. I’ve written several articles about the Career Pathwaysworldedchangeagent
To access the free webinar slides, go here.

The World Education, Inc. is trying so hard to sell its work as ‘expert’. When you take into consideration all the ties to the CCSS Machine, it’s not expertise they have, it’s alignment!

worldedex

Closing:

Warriors, please know that when I share things like this, I am not blaming those involved in education who are fighting by our sides. I AM blaming the CCSS Machine for its continued game of ruining America’s education system. I AM speaking up and highlighting what the CCSS Machine is doing so we can be as informed as possible.
We cannot fight a war if we do not know all the opponents.

I’d personally like to see education become a winning ticket for everyone! Personally, I’d love to see the CCSS Machine destroyed.

“Friend” Of The Family

Greetings fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors! September 2017 is upon us.

Look below. What you see is actual evidence from a concerned Mom from the Raleigh, NC area.  She’s been with me, fighting the CCSS Machine in NC, for quite a while now.

This is the front page of the letter received by the concerned parent.

wakestudentfront

Warriors, take note of the fine print, Harvard University Research is to receive this personal information. Harvard’s located in MA, not NC! Why is an NC school district farming personal information and data to an Ivy League School?

Next, is the middle page of the letter that was sent home.

wakestudentextra

This form, as you can see is in the event you have more than one child in the same school system.

Below, is the back page of the letter received.

Wakestudentback

Warriors, from the appearance of this part of the letter, all the data issues seem to be ‘not a big deal’, but as we know, all is never as it seems when it comes to our child’s personal information OR their school data.

To complete the guise of ‘friendly’ research data gathering, the folks behind the Wake County School System and the Harvard team, even give you a postage-paid envelope to mail the letter in!

wherewakegoes

Foe #1:

Warriors, I’ve repeatedly shown you have up to its neck in CCSS Machine business Harvard University has been over the course of my published blog.

From their partnership with Pearson Publishing to create the “Pathways to Prosperity” which in turn spur on the “Career Pathways” of the CCSS (Common Core State Standards), STEM (Science, Technology,Engineering, and, Math) and the CTE (Career Tech Education) alignment, as well as create a hotbed for social justice alignment. Then, there’s the micro-management of school counselors with the co-operation of former President and First Lady Obama, which will impact students in K-12th and/or college, where the Harvard grab for adult learners  goes into hyper-drive.

We can’t leave Harvard’s activity in the CCSS Machine there, Warriors. The University has played a big part in the Career Pathways transformation to CBE (Competency Based Education), right along with InACOL, the Gates Foundation, and others.

Oh, and if you didn’t know it, 3rd grade students (and older) can thank Harvard for their undermining reading and writing for job skill training!
The final blow to Harvard’s ‘respected’ reputation, at least as far as an anti Fed Ed Warrior’s perspective goes, will be the global education push that Harvard pitches us into as part of the GECN (Global Education Conference Network).

Now they want us to TRUST them with sensitive school details?!

Foe #2:

“My Student’s Team” by the Harvard Research Team.

harvsafe
When you visit the website (embedded in ‘team’ above), you will see almost nothing. There’s  very little wording. As far as the school districts using “My Student’s Team”? Three. One is Manchester Public Schools, another is Winsdor Public Schools. Wake is the only school system which is a county-wide one using the ‘friendly’ student support team.

Since I have no clue where Manchester and Windsor are located, I will use what information I do have. I hope wherever the Manchester and Winsdor parents are, the following information will be useful.

What does the Team do for the student?  As it appears on the first page of the letter my fellow Warrior received, it looks like a non-family member contact for your student. But notice the wording. I’m going to give you full access to my student I’m interested in knowing more about permission to access his/her behavior records?!

I understand, Warriors, this is a research project with a rubber stamp, but rubber won’t keep data safe.

The letter states a team member should be one who’s interested in knowing more about a student who’s a) not a parent, b) not normally in contact with the school, and c) by the legal guardian! Warriors, do you see what I see?

STRANGER DANGER!
We (meaning those who consent) are to readily and willingly hand over sensitive information to a nameless, faceless ‘team’ via the post office!
By allowing these people I don’t know very well/don’t know at all because they live so far away, what am I really signing up for? Who will background check my choice of ‘support person’ for my student? Who is going to be looking into MY records? For what purpose?

From Raleigh, NC to Harvard, MA is over 700 miles. It also passes through several States, thereby crossing state lines. Is this safe? Is the submission of consent by this ‘non-parent’ giving FULL disclosure? Do those signing this paper realize that given consent means whoever or whatever group Harvard shares this information with will be deemed as ‘okay’ by you, under the current FERPA regulations?

Warriors, because FERPA was changed and large loopholes exist NOW, no agreement seeking your permission should be trusted as ‘safe’!

How do I know? Child Abuse in the Classroom has an entire section on the real truth about how unsafe FERPA is when it comes to private information. Because of the loopholes, you have NO clue who or where Harvard will share this data.  Access the Child Abuse in the Classroom’s FERPA link, here.

(*Note: if you are ready to keep your student’s data safe, or, to see FERPA restored so that your child’s information IS safe, please join the grassroots national campaign called “Child Abuse in the Classroom” today!)

Harvard University, Wake County Schools, and SREE:

Warriors, how DID Wake County Schools get the attention of Harvard University to become an experimental research subject?

One connection I found was a 2016 Conference listed on Harvard University’s website where an official from the Wake Co. system was featured as a speaker. The Conference was one for SREE (Society for Research on Education Effectiveness). You’ll be interested to know that the CCSS Machine member organization, AIR was a main sponsor. (AIR is short from American Institutes for Research)
Two of the SREE Board of Directors are Harvard University employees. AIR is also represented on the Board of Directors.

According to the Gates Foundation Grants website, SREE has received 2 grants. Both were in 2013.

sree
I’ve provided the full 29 page program from that Conference.  Another huge CCSS Machine member group in attendance: WestEd.

Foe #3:

However, it’s  Matthew Lenard (green arrows) which is the name connecting the Wake County Schools to Harvard.

His resume is steeped in the CCSS Machine’s rhetoric.
He’s held a position with SREB (Southern Regional Education Board) which has received funds from the Gates Foundation as well as other  big name groups shoving the modern education reform down our throats.
In fact, SREB is one of the main groups using CCSS Machine money and resources to push the agenda onto school leaders, especially the counselors! (*Note: the highlighted phrase will give you access to every one of my SREB researched articles)

According to his LinkedIn Profile, Lenard is with the Wake County Public School System as a data and accountability officer. Here’s a quote, ” I joined WCPSS through the Strategic Data Project (SDP), a initiative housed at the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University. SDP partners with districts, school networks, and state agencies across the U.S. to transform the use of data in education.”

Lenard is tapped for the SREE 2018 Conference, where a featured speaker from WestEd will lead the attendees down the data strewn path of student information.

Foe #4:

Below, is a screen shot for the SDP (Strategic Data Project). Wake County’s been a partner since 2011. Gates Foundation grants to SDP: two, 1 in 2017 to the State of KY’s Dept. of Education for the data mining and one in 2012 directly to Harvard. Source

This 2010 You Tube video features a woman from the IES speaking to an SREE audience about ‘practice guides’. Listen about the 1:14 minute mark when you’ll hear how behavior modification was almost casually mentioned. While the direct link in the comments to the video no longer exist, I did find some IES Practice Guides which may very well be the type of behavior modification the woman was referring to. In the modification plans? Multi-tier support and Response to Intervention. Both of these are ESSA mandates for our children.

https://youtu.be/pkQgXDlswxQ

From Harvard’s Center for Education Policy Research, this screen shot from a 2016 Survey Report.

Since we’re in the latter part of 2017, and this Report is still awaiting student data, where has the data been since collected? Warriors, do not only look at what we’re being told, but also ask about all the other details being left out on purpose! (*Note: by clicking on ‘Research’, you’ll be able to access the Harvard Center for Education Policy publications.)

HarvardMQIWarriors, since we know ESSA’s mandates include assessments. Research like this will continue the assessment alignment cycle going.

Numerous Foes:

Who funds the Harvard Center for Education Policy?

Harvardedfunders

Closing:

Warriors, we know the data mining is intrusive. We know it violates our civil rights.
My most recent NC interview where we talked about data in the classroom. (Sept. 3, 2017)
I thank the CCTA (Coast Carolina Taxpayers Assoc.) for inviting me. (*Note: I mistakenly used the amount of $89 million in reference to the ESSA funds set aside for digital and technology. It should be $849 million.)

Draft Plan or Daft Plan?

To my fellow anti Fed Ed and CCSS Warriors, it is increasingly clear our States have sold us out. They did it with RttT (Race to the Top), the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative), the constant re-branding of CCSS (Common Core State Standards), and everything in between which would connect education to workforce based outcomes.

It was SUPPOSED to stop with ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), but as we’ve researched and shared, that, too was a sell out.

By now, you’ve probably seen and heard about the States which already turned in their ESSA State Plans to the U.S. Dept. of Education, only to have them bounce back faster than a bad check. Have you been able to get a look at any of the State Plans which will be due in September 2017?

The last time I looked at the NC State ESSA Draft Plan was back in Feb. 2017. It’s where I compared the alignment of not only NC’s ESSA Plan, but how strikingly similar it was to SC’s Draft Plan at the time. If you missed the article highlighted above, I urge you to read it. Not only does it impact ALL 50 States, but there is quite a bit that those ESSA braggarts left out we need to know. (For example, did you know that ALL 50 States must meet parts of the General Education Provisions Act as well as all the mandates laid out in ESSA?)

In the most recent version of the NC ESSA State Draft, the document is 184 pages long. Oh, and more color pictures have been added. See below. The added emphasis is mine.

ncdraftsummer

If you’d like to access the entire Plan2017draft-state-plan

So, are you wondering about the “Theory” behind NC’s Daft (I mean) Draft Plan? Look below. You’ll find this particular section on Page 8 of the Plan, directly beneath the snazzy color picture you see above.

ncdamnWarriors, do you see this?! Do you believe it?!

The State of NC, just like the other 49, is using YOUR child as a test subject in an unknown and unproven system with YOUR tax dollars! (*Note: back in 2016, I published an article detailing some of the ESSA experimentation which would be continuing CCSS or creating more alignment.)

The CCSS Machine is so busy pumping out the jargon of ‘personalized learning’ (which is a coded educratic phrase), that we are missing the point: teachers should gauge the learning pace, not students. Teachers should be free to use their proven ideas in the classroom, not leav it up to professionals not designed for classroom interactions.

This is like telling your 6 year old that you’ll let them get behind the wheel of your car and HOPE it all works out.

Do you see the ‘transforming from the industrial age’ statement? Yep, NC’s bent over backwards to make sure it’s one of the most digitalized and conformed States in the nation. At every grade level and for every educational choice. I’ve documentend it well, as have other citizens.

deludeded

To show you how NC officials feel about ‘personalized learning’, you need to see their words, not mine.

statepillar
Click to enlarge the screen shot (or find the evidence on Page 9). Four ‘pillars’ which are to be STATE supported, not parent chosen, for your child’s education. Since these pillars are ‘state led’, do not think the federal government hasn’t mandated HOW the leadership is to take place. If so, why are so many State Plans being rejected? It’s because ESSA’s mandates do NOT allow MORE State-led control!

As far as ‘state supported’? No, try state controlled by way of the federal government, instead.

As far as NC’s Daft (oops, I meant ‘draft’) definition of ’empowered educators’, a very loose idea. Why? It’s to fit ESSA’s mandates to allow those who partner with education to be considered an ‘educator’. Remember, the increase of the business world in education ESSA has mandated? This loose definition of ‘educator’ fits perfectly.

empower

Other Daft Moves by NC?

1) For ‘early education’ the B3 Interagency Council (partners the NC DPI, NC Dept. of Health/Human Services, and the NC Partnership for Children). Their overreach into the younger students’ lives? Data driven pathways.

2) For ‘early education’ continuing the CCSS aligned “NC Reads” program. It’s supposed to have kids ready to read by the time they get to the classroom. I think NC’s daftness is really showing here. For our Kindergartner students, class is where they SHOULD learn to read, not come already prepared.

3) For all students, a new interagency for the “NC Whole Child”. The premise? A ‘whole child’ in a ‘whole school’ to learn to be part of a ‘whole community’.  Note that you’ll see both the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and ASCD as creators. Both are part of the CCSS Machine.

whole

To  access the entire “NC Whole Child” program, visit here.

4) For the Teachers, ‘digital competency standards’ as derived by iNACOL, a huge CCSS Machine member organization. iNACOL is part of the global push for aligned education in America. These ‘standards’ are also a continued effort for NC that have been backed by our NC General Assembly.

5) For all students, ‘global-readiness’. While NC’s been globalizing students before now, under the Draft ESSA State NC Plan, more infrastructure changes will take place to continue this alignment. What does this mean? More internet digital access, Smart Cities, global standards, and so much more. Here’s a recently published article. With all the infrastructure changes, you’ll need to look for Innovation Districts/schools, Lab Schools and similar. You’ll also find infrastructure changes in Head Start, Early Head Start, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, and more.

Of The “Proven” CCSS Aligned Programs NC will keep:

1) You’ll see Home Base (a massive SLDS system put in place by Pearson Publishing, but now run by the NC DPI). See the Financial Evidence .
2) Smart Start/NC PreK  (a 2016 look at how ESSA was to hurt the littlest learners)
3) Career and College Promise (ties to a National CBP, Competency Based Pathway System)
4) NC Virtual Public School (a 2015 exposure)
5) Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) The 2016 article I published revealed not only much about PBIS, but how ESSA and Pearson capitalize on this system to alter attitudes in our children. You’ll also see an SC school district’s example. You’ll also see how those 21st Century Community Learning Centers are woven in.

CommonCore-Equal-Fail
Warriors, the CC Curriculum isn’t going away, even with ESSA in place.

Closing:

For more emphasis, this  2016 article where I pointed out the massive NC deceptions in much of what you see above, is offered to you.

What of similar nature is happening in your State? How ‘daft’ are our leaders? How ‘daft’ do they assume WE are?!

Lastly, Warriors, what are we WILLING to do about it? Shall we continue to offer up our students as test subjects while the powers in place try to run education?

Update on “Of Late”

When I wrote “Of Late”, I knew there were several key pieces of evidence to present and somehow tie together.

Almost immediately after the article hit the social media circuit, I got at least 2 other leads from fellow Warriors, making EVEN more connections to the subject matter in “Of Late”. If you missed that topic, it was all about the how our current U. S. Congress is bowing MORE to a global vent for workforce based education for all ages and all educational choices.

What follows is to be used as tools for every anti Fed Ed Warrior out there. Yes, it’s in-depth. But, it needs to be.

Where I Left Off:

Warriors, I left you with the confirmed evidence that American education is being used as a tool against us for the purpose of reshaping our nation. To continue that re-shaping, look to North Dakota, first.

Heading West:

My fellow Warrior from “The Roughrider State”, noticed that some of the items I shared seemed a bit TOO familiar. She then referred me to Gov. Burgum’s recent Innovation in Education Summit. She laid out some quick facts about the ties some of those presenting ‘expert’ evidence have to the CCSS Machine. She heavily questions how well these people represent the values of the North Dakotians.

burgum

I  found Dintersmith involved in another education reform area (which was also another tip from my ND friend). That is the “Most Likely to Succeed” documentary. This was filmed back in 2015 and was considered a hit by the Sundance Film Festival. What the documentary shows is chilling, Warriors. Below is the just over 2 minute trailer. Notice the key CCSS Machine members (Robinson is tied to Pearson, Khan is tied to the Khan Academy and received Gates Foundation funding to switch to CCSS, Common Core State Standards.)

(*Note: the full length documentary is not available legally for free on You Tube due to copyright issues.)
Below is a ‘team’ spirited description about the documentary. The number one team member? Dintersmith!

mostlikely1
If you’d like to see the “Most Likely to Succeed Learning Sparks” (short videos to spur you into action to help create more ‘innovation’ in your schools), find them here. Warriors, you find out how to ‘hack’ education and more. Look for Linda Darling-Hammond to be among the ‘experts’. Try not to cringe.

Warriors, I haven’t forgotten Dintersmith’s assignment by former President Obama (in the brief bio description above) to the UN. Neither should you.

Time and time again, I’ve shown you fact based research on how the former leader and his administration bent over backwards to help continue the cycle of ‘dumbing down’ American education.
There was the PCAST Report from 2010 where STEM was ushered in as a disguise for the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), thanks to the NSF (National Science Foundation) and many other CCSS groups. There was also ‘innovation’ after ‘innovation’ initiative or some digital push to be foisted on our teachers and students.

Thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), those ‘innovation’ and digital overhauls are 100% certain. Has our current President slowed any of this down? Hardly.

Mr. Trump has, in fact, seemingly turned a deaf ear to the CCSS Machine’s technology de facto moves.

To see what Pres. Obama’s White House Report (Next Generation High Schools) featuring Mr. Dintersmith, contained, look here.

Warriors, remember, Dintersmith is a business man, not an educator. The fact sheet for the same White House Report reveals not only a big STEM push, but CTE (Career Tech Education) push, too. Both STEM and CTE are tied up in CCSS, apprenticeships, and the global education scheme of the United Nations.

Getting Back To The “Most Likely”:

Warriors, here’s an almost 30 minute video featuring the producer and lead team member for “Most Likely to Succeed”. You’ll not only see clips from the full documentary, you’ll hear first hand pro CCSS Machine discussion. Once again, Linda Darling-Hammond will surface during this video with her explanation as to how ‘grit’ will help solve the outdated American education. Listen all the way to the end. There is key evidence there.

Meanwhile In North Dakota:

One of the major concerns of my ND Warrior friend is shared by others in a few other States. The profiling of our high school students. If you’ve heard of “NorthStar” you know what I mean. The Facebook group Educray is based in TX. When my ND Warrior shared her concerns on social media, Educray was quick to join her. See below:

northstar
From TX, the Highland Park ISD graduate profile reeks of “content rich” global citizens rhetoric.

To see the Profile of a Graduate/EdLeader21 description of these types of data mining profiles, access the information here. To see the 4 Cs, collaboration, creativity, communication, and, critical thinking (which replace the 3 Rs in education), look here.
Getting Smart (Tom VanderArk) has a detailed article and podcast you’ll need to investigate. You’ll see other States using these profiles for ‘quality education’.

ReTool Your School:

Also featured in the ND Innovation Summit was “School ReTool”. If you’re not familiar, have you noticed how many of our schools are building torn down to be replaced by buildings which could double as a prison? To find out about this movement and how it connects to the global scheme:

https://vimeo.com/album/3269852

If you wonder about the ReTool’s ‘mission’? Look below:

retool1

Among School ReTool’s Partners? Groups from ME, NH, CO, CCSS Machine members Hewlett Foundation, Ted Dintersmith, and more. Find the rest here.

Part of the ‘retooling’? “Academic interships”..a fancy name for ‘Apprenticeships’!! If you’ll remember, Warriors, most of the “Of Late” article spells out for us the global ties to apprenticeships, higher education, and more. To see School ReTool’s Academic Internship plot, visit here.

Warriors, since most of the apprenticeships and internships are targeting our high schoolers in an attempt to groom them for higher education, we know to be watching the post-secondary reform like a hawk. You also know, I have been helping you do just that for years. EdWeek has an article, published earlier this week which reveals some valid points (even for a pro CCSS/ESSA source).

Point #1: Since the U.S. Secretary DeVos has been in office, she’s tackled much more higher education reform than K-12th grades.
Point #2: There’s a ton more federal control on colleges, community colleges, proprietary (for profit) schools, and all the early college, skill prep programs to unite K-12th to post-secondary education.

Innovation Kills:

Warriors, much of the conversation about all this alignment, reform, and increased innovation leaves out the bare faced fact that innovation actually stunts our minds.
How? Too much of anything is bad for us. As the push to unite the USA to a global education continues; technology and innovation/infrastructure for such will continue to envelope us.

Released in 2016, is the short You Tube film which depicts a father and child. Conformity to a work/school system is the topic. According to the resource I found highlighting this film, the tone of the writer is that we must change society to join work and education.
Exactly the message we are hearing from the UN, Congress, and our Administration in Washington, D.C.

The writer stresses that is it our current mindset toward work and school which is killing our student’s minds. In the fact-based research and evidence, it is the CCSS Machine grasp on education which is doing the stunting. NOT parents, not our environment.

I was able to find that one of the producers of “Alike” (Daniel M. Lara) is tied to the Blender Foundation and their 2016 Conference, where he was a featured speaker. Blender Conferences have been an annual event for a while now. Blender’s focus? Arts, technology, animation, and all related subjects. I also found that the Blender Foundation was cited as a resource (page 86) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) publication from 2015 for IGI Global for use in America. This Google Book is a goldmine of education reform. Chapter 83 is all about embedding pedagogy into NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards), you’ll see how innovation is to be used to target those ‘less academic’ than their peers, you’ll find out STEM is being unleashed on our babies, how ‘blended learning’ and PBLs (Problem Based Learning) is to shift education’s responsibility from teacher to student as a force tactic, future trends for K-20 education (kindergarten to 4 year college degree or similar), service based education (as in grooming the ‘collective, global citizens’), computer games as science teachers, multi-pronged distance education, how the Europeans are educating in these ways, open source lectures (coding classes will tie in here), and, more. (*Note in the beginning pages the number of American Universities.)

A 2014 Oregon State University Blender Camp brochure. Warriors, it will show you how ‘blending art’ and STEM fit into the classrooms.

A Blender Foundation “STEM in the Classroom” example. It’s called “Teach STEM Now”.

Interestingly enough, Betsy DeVos and Ivanka Trump just promoted more girls to STEM in the Smithsonian Museum, 7/25/17. They teamed up back in March 2017 to do much the same. (*Note: Not so funny, one of the UN’s SDGs is promoting women in education, especially STEM.)

IGI Global has a Pearson Publishing assessment available for a price. Check it out.

Last Stop, North Carolina:

Warriors, as you know I’ve shared with you how sold out to the CCSS Machine, NC is. Living here has given me the opportunity to show you things to watch for. Look below. One of the NC legislators is bragging on how ‘we’ will be the first in the nation for state-wide classroom internet access. Remember, ESSA’s mandates in technology include such. Way to align, NC.

Access the “Economist” article and you’ll literally read the beginning words with the name of B.F. Skinner, quickly followed by Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg.

The long road of reform to a global education is fully in the works. Warriors, let’s get busy!

My State In The W_ _ _ d

Hello, Anti Fed Ed, Anti CCSS, and Anti Global Ed Warriors! If you noticed, I’ve added a ‘new’ type of Warrior to the list.

Since I began researching the shift in education (2009), I knew from one of Tom DeWeese’s articles that the end game for education in America was globally tied.

It was, in fact, this particular article and another one (by Cathy Duffy) about the push in America for national standards, which bothered me enough to begin researching!

As you know, since then, I’ve found plenty of evidence to support BOTH of these well respected citizens’ findings.  Since I began blogging (2014), the flood gates to support even more evidence to the global/national standards has come my way. I’ve done my best to share all that I can with you, so that, all of us are as informed as we can be in our War Vs. the Core.

You might be wondering about the title of this particular article. It’s short for “My State in the World”.

Warriors,  here are some documents I’ve found which point directly to the facts that education in your State hasn’t been American for some time now. Between our Governors and Public Depts of Education/Instruction, the UN/UNESCO shift has been in place since the mid 1980s! What follows is an in-depth, information packed article.

Take your time in reading and researching what’s in your State. It’s imperative!

The Files in Timeline Form:

(1985): So far, this is the oldest evidence I have found. It’s from MN.
The Report is one created by a global education task force that had been set up to prepare the way for a K-12th grade “Global Education Decade”  beginning in the 1999-2000 academic year. By starting this gigantic ball rolling in 1985, all the framwork would be in place by 1990. It is in this Report titled “Minnesota in the World”, that you’ll see the ’21st Century needs’ rhetoric popping up.

Let me be clear, you will NOT see the UN/UNESCO mentioned in this Report. However, the imprint is there. Who you will see as an influential force behind the shift for MN, is the (then) Dean of the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota (Harlan Cleveland). Cleveland wrote a book called “The Knowledge Executive”.
The “MN in the World” Report includes excerpts. Here’s a screen shot:

harlan

How was Cleveland tied to the UN? Google Books includes his biography. He led post WWII rebuilding efforts for the UN. Google’s bio also reveals Cleveland was a top leader in the Marshall Plan; that he was appointed by President Kennedy as an Assistant Secretary of State to the UN.

President Einsenhower tagged Cleveland as a NATO official. You will also see his ties to the Aspen Institute and more. (*Note: if you’d like to see how the modern day Aspen Institute and others are directing the States to the UN/global shift via ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), find it here.)

Not only will Cleveland be one to note in the MN Report, but also,  former U.S. Dept. of Education Secretary, T. H. Bell. Look below for his proclamation.

bell Mr. Bell was appointed by President Reagan as the Sec. of Education. He is the same Bell who headed up the Committee which produced the 1983 “Nation At Risk” report.
Bell also was the National Commission of Education (housed then in the U.S. Dept. of Interior) before the creation of the U.S. Dept. of Education.

We can ‘thank’ the 1983 version of “Nation At Risk” for the national assessments increase as well as the use of the word ‘accountability’ as a call for more federal dollars to flow into our States. Thanks to ESSA, the ‘accountability’ means more control from the U.S. Dept. of Education, NOT less.

(1987): Look below, the book emphasized is not available in its complete form, on-line.
(*Note the underlined participants.)

1987book

(Entering the 1990s):
From the UNESCO on-line library,  you’ll find documents dating back to the mid 1990s for the shift in technical/vocational education, which has been rebranded as “CTE” or ‘Career Tech Education’ here in the United States. I found the document where ‘lifelong learning’ is described as a bridge to the future. It’s from 1999.  Look below for a modern rendition of such a ‘bridge’:

hebridge
Then, factor in this OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development) document’s proclamation below:

lifelong

Warriors, this particular Report (as seen above) was published in 2007. But look at the original year OECD released ‘lifelong learning’..1996. As far as I have been able to find, no on-line version of the 1996 original book is available. You can access it via several university libraries, however. Here’s a description as to why it is vital we find it.

(1999):  NC’s educational shift to globalization appears to have taken place around this time.
ncshift

(From 2000 to currently):
(2001):
UNESCO’s  5 year review of the 1996 ‘beginnings’ for ‘lifelong learning’.
OCED’s 5 year review of the 1996 ‘beginnings’.

(2006): NC’s Governor creates the first Center for 21st Century Skills in the nation.
See below:
NConeworld
To see Report One (2007) and Report Two (2007), click on each year. (To access my previous article on NC’s Global Readiness, click here.)

(2007):
A Western Michigan University look at ‘lifelong learning’ by Professor Emeritus Bosco.
Look below:
bosco
In the modern educational reform you’ll find Professor Bosco is an investigator for the CoSN (Consortium of School Networking), as well. CoSN is a big part of the CCSS Machine. I wrote about their part in “The Redefining Ready” Initiative in 2016.

(2009):
This NY based resource was originally begun in 2006 and updated to this form in 2009.
What’s interesting in this resource, is that it  pointed out that the US federal level of education looked first to New York and Massachussettes for educational policies. There are several other very interesting pieces of evidence in this resource as well. For example, each President’s involvement in education is included from 1945-2009.
NYresource

Observations from this resource:
What were the educational policies from NY and MA back in the 60s?  I have no clue as to why those policies were worthy enough to become nationally known or used. I do question how much of those policies helped shape the 1965 ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). I do question why our federal government would choose the 2 States where we can find today, some of the biggest CCSS Machine member organizations/supporters.

I was able find that NY amended its educational law to reflect 21st Century learning and global education back in 1999. (*Note: scroll down to the text portion of the page.)

What about MA? I found a thesis where the history of MA’s shift to global education is laid out. The State specific information begins on page 48. You’ll find UNESCO’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), The Asia Society (the State of NC is knee-deep in a relationship with them), and so much more. However, look below at what the author found are the ‘must-haves’ for global education to survive:

maglobe

Warriors, have you seen these 5 elements where you live? If your State is seeing a shift in Teacher training for global education, start on page 36. It’s all laid out.

(2013): NC’s Global Education Task Force Report reveals STEM is one of the biggest tools to shift education, not for academics, but for economic purposes.

(2014):  Harvard University (the very same pro CCSS/CTE, Pearson Publishing partnership which created Pathways to Prosperity and thus helped create Career Pathways for education), pumped out this Report on global education.

Interestingly enough, some of the ‘expert solutions’ for aligning education? Increase apprenticeships, create more charter schools, and, cause a unity between government, education, and, teachers.
(*Note: one of the featured experts in the above Report, has an open page of resources on the MA Assoc. for School Superintendents for MA’s G21 (Global21) Project. All kinds of resources can be found there.)

(2015): Washington Times Reporter Bethany Blankley reveals the Qatar Foundation participation in the global shift in education. See the screen shot below:

More vital resources for your Anti Warrior’s information:
a) Berit Kjos’s timeline of Common Core throughout the world.
b) My 2016 international data mining article.
c) Charlotte Iserbyt’s “Exposing the Road to Global Ruin” You Tube series (begin with the short introduction video at the 1:38 time mark and follow the connected videos.)
d) Diana Anderson’s excellent compiled article on global education.

Closing:

Warriors, I am, by no means claiming to have the authoritative voice on the shift in global education. I believe Charlotte Iserbyt, Diana Anderson, and many others before me have that. However, when we use their roots and add the information as it surfaces, we help create a strong force of information that answers many questions.
We also can see many things which have been played down by our leaders, or, worse, left out completely. We also can use this information to form new ways in which to protect our students AND our nation.

I urge you, look in your State’s legislative archives for when your “State and the World Project” began. It may be under a slightly different name, but the signs ARE there.

100, 500, and Still Counting

Celebrating my 100 anti CCSS/Fed Ed blog followers AND my 500th post! We’ve come quite a long way together. I pray our time together will continue to be fruitful. We seek not fame or fortune in what we do to fight the CCSS Machine. We ARE, however, leaving a legacy of patriotism, devotion to remaining free, and love for our people, regardless of educational choices. We do what we do to help each other, not to stand on each other’s shoulders. How absolutely refreshing it would be to see our leaders do the same.

Numbers..Everywhere!

There’s a double purpose to using numbers in this article. One of the best ways to get news out is social media. However, some sites are more oppressive than others. So, purpose #1 is to celebrate, purpose #2 is to hide the article in plain sight on social media.

I’m Not the Only One Spinning Numbers:

ICYMI: My latest article which was banned on Facebook revealed how numbers will be shifted to abuse teachers via ESSA and Title 2 Funds; how special needs and their IDEA funds via ESSA get squeezed; how numerous families across our nation will now be receiving “Family Engagement Ambassadors” aka U.S. Dept. of Ed Parent Nannies.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/bon-voyage-hello-grinders/

Then, there are the numbers CCSS Machine member/publisher McGraw-Hill are trying to spin in their most recent survey. I just found this one yesterday.

mcgrawed

Oh, I cannot stop chuckling over how stupid this company assumes us to be by a quiz like this!

dumb

So, what questions does McGraw-Hill have? The brief introduction tells you they got together with top education research groups to create this. Can’t you just smell the CCSS Machine stench already? But wait, it gets deeper. Scroll down to the bottom of the main page and you’ll see it’s a survey to point to the 2016 elections!! I kid you not.

Q1) Proficiency in math question. (Source: the NAEP scores)
Q2)  About ELLs (English Language Learners) (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed’s National Center for Educational Stats)
Q3)  U.S.’s world rank in reading. (Source: PISA)
Q4)  Low-income students percentage. (Source: Southern Education Foundation)
Q5)  Internet speed in schools. (Source: Education Superhighway) *Note: according to the explanation, 3/4 of the country NOW exceeds the FCC’s requirement.
Q6)   High school graduation numbers. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed)
Q7) Cost of remediation in colleges. (Source: Education Reform Now)
Q8) How long it takes to graduate college. (Source: National Student Clearinghouse Research Center)
Q9) Students who need financial aid. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed’s National Center for Educational Stats)
Q10) Unemployment for college graduates. (Source: NY Times)
Q11) Student loan defaults. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed)
Q12) Over your lifetime question. (Source: College Board) *Note: CB states that the BIGGEST pay increase happens at the Bachelor degree stage.

To take the survey: http://www.mheducation.com/ideas/how-much-you-know-us-education-quiz.html

Oh, and you’ll find it ironic that I ‘flunked’ this survey from the “how many did you get correct” viewpoint. Oh well, flunking a CCSS Member group survey is not something I will fret over. On the more serious side of this survey though, look at the questions agenda points, the sources cited, and what will be more than likely coming soon.

Remember, the ‘fine print’ points all this to the November 2016 elections. Helping drive the conversation? None other than McGraw-Hill’s CEO. Read his article, https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/lets-talk-education-david-levin

If you would like more CCSS Machine numbers, McGraw-Hill ever-so-nicely embedded their Workforce Readiness 2016 Study in the CEO’s article..and think, just in time to influence our votes.

mcgrawwork
Check out this bunch of numbers from the Study:

workreadyslide

I’ve got an idea, use this screen shot as proof that your State’s CTE (Career Tech Education), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), as well as CCSS (Common Core State Standards or by their ‘new’ name, CCR, College and Career Readiness) Tracks, Paths, etc. AREN’T WORKING!!

This Study also plays the ‘gender card’. That’s something you may wish to see. You may wish to see how McGraw-Hill’s plays into Pearson Publishing ‘gender intelligence’ CCSS Machine plan. If you didn’t know about Pearson Publishing ‘GI’, I’ve got your back.

Need More Numbers?

10/17/16: US PIE (United States Parents Involved in Education) “Keep Your Child Home From School Day” to protest the U.S. Dept. of Ed on its 40th anniversary. See:
http://www.uspie.org/protest-fed-ed-.html

I have understood via social media that more groups besides US PIE are doing something ‘radical’ for Ed’s 40th anniversary.  As long as we Warriors Against the Core are rebelling against educational tyranny on that day (or for that matter, every day), I think the message will become even louder. If we could unite our events, beyond  our usual circles of influence, we could teach Congress what true teamwork CAN do! As always, know that I am all for speaking out, just be safe and respectful.

This number:

Congress, 9/29/16; call! Protest the move to remove American internet and give it total global access. Knowing how much ESSA is spending on digital, Internet, and all related parts, we NEED our privacy as in tact as we can to protect our children.

See my dear fellow Warriors (Gretchen Logue/Cheri Kiesecker) warning article!

Closing:

Warriors, I’ll have more news about numbers and legislation soon. In the meantime, fight, fight, with all your might!  I leave you with a short clip from a TV show in the 1960s called “The Prisoner”. The show was one my Daddy loved. I hated it. I was so young, it scared me.

While I don’t know the entire plot, I do know the main character was not free to be himself. He was assigned a number; his name no longer necessary. Of all the things we give our children, their names are their very first gift upon their birth. Their names are beautifully hand-picked, lovingly chosen, and carry on our family identities. Much like “The Prisoner”, our children are in danger of losing who they truly are.

Second Verse, Same as the First?!

Years ago, I had a favorite song I would sing almost constantly. Being a child, I sang it constantly. The tune was catchy, the words were so repetitive, that it got stuck in my head. The chorus line was, “Second verse, same as the first!”

My point, anti CCSS Warriors?! We are seeing MANY ‘second verses’ when it comes to the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) run-education.

With traditional school calendars in motion or about to be set in motion, you will see all kinds of ‘second verses’.

Where?  Lessons, resources, assessments (to name a few). Our opposition, however, will do their best to try to fool everyone that education is not a repeat of CCSS or NCLB, but newer, improved, and better somehow.

Pardon me if I throw a few sour notes in about now.

New Leader, Same Alignment:

Where I live, classes are to begin 8/29/16. On 8/9/16, WISC Radio shared that the school system I help pay taxes for, has been ‘gifted’ with a new leader. As soon as I saw his official title, I knew the school system was no better off than when the former leader was here. This is what made me think of “second verse, same as the first.”

edmauney

What is our former leader, Edwards, up to?
He has moved from the public side of the CCSS Machine to the private side. My fellow anti CCSS Warrior, LadyLiberty1885, tells you, in her 7/6/16 article that Edwards is still in the data ‘business’. See: https://ladyliberty1885.com/2016/07/06/mooresville-superintendent-leaves-district-for-discovery-education/

Why is my school system so ‘honored’ to continue to receive sold out leaders? One reason, I believe is that NC has many State leaders, businesses, and connections willing to be the CCSS/CTE/STEM ‘back-up singers chorus’.

If they aren’t trying to sing second verses about ‘quality’ education, they are warbling on about the need for the economic stability and how aligned jobs are the key to success.

Add to the chorus, the legislators who have sold their souls to the Chamber of Commerce or are still convinced that education only needs more money to fix it, it is no wonder our State is repeating its mistakes.

Another reason I believe this school system is so ‘honored’ is because the sitting U.S. President made a beeline trip here when the digital push in education was beginning. I didn’t go to the big shindig, but I did hear he thought Mooresville was a model town that the nation should follow.

As far as the town paper, they even joined in the ‘second verse’ when the paper published their article about his new leadership role. The reason Mauney was chosen was to carry on what Edwards started! See:  http://www.mooresvilletribune.com/news/mooresville-picks-new-school-superintendent/article_5ddf2d1a-5e76-11e6-aa24-9bafce9a1f2a.html

Did the public taxpayers get to vote Mauney into office? No, our School Board elected to appoint him.

**An interesting note is that yesterday and today (8/24 and 8/25) are “Laptop Deployment” days. It’s also time to have all those laptop users register with “InfoSnap”. Oh yes, the data mining’s ‘second verse, is the same as the first’! InfoSnap is PowerSchool, formerly of Pearson Publishing, now with Vista Equity Partners.

Does Mooresville reward its CTE school teachers? Yes! These teachers fall under the ‘hard to staff’ section of the pay scale
See: Mooresville City Pay Plan

If you’d like to see how much Mauney’s ‘second verse’ will cost the citizens of NC (including Mooresville residents), look at what evidence LadyLiberty1885 also shared:

mauneypay
Remember, not one citizen outside of the school board voted for this, yet we get to foot the bill. Not a ‘greatest hit’, for sure.

Mauney and the NC DPI:

What’s a ‘second verse’ Mauney is already singing around the county I live in? “New Math” set to aligned standards which are EXPECTED, not already vetted. The article I learned this from can be read: http://www.statesville.com/news/high-schools-to-implement-new-math-standards/article_6b12311e-6270-11e6-908c-233bf77b9168.html

(*Note, you can also see Math 2 and Math 3, here.)

According to other NC DPI resources, the Career Tech Education Standards haven’t been ‘updated’ since 2012. The Strategic NC CTE Plan document is from 2009! What’s my point? Every CTE leader in NC, including Mauney has been singing the CCSS Machine’s ‘first verse’ from about the time we got our Race to the Top funds!!

Here is the 2009 Strategy Plan: strategic-plan (1)
For the NC 2012 information: nc cte planning

(*Note: according the the NC DPI, on another page of their website the CTE programs are currently being updated. See: http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/cte/program-areas/ ) Which leads to…

The NC DPI (2014), had industries and businesses review CTE courses for accuracy. Hardly a ‘new verse’ for the State, or the CCSS Machine’s use of P3s (public private partnerships). See: http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/docs/cte/program-areas/career/programs/blueprint/careermanagement.pdf
(*Note: top of the list for learner priorities in these courses?! Social emotional behavior!)

Warriors, our nation deserves more than the second verse being the same as the first when it comes to education.  Use my school district’s activity to see in your area what similar songs are being carried on.

Taking One for the Team

Teamwork is such an integral part of success. Anti CCSS Warriors, we have seen how our teamwork has helped us repeatedly strike a blow to the CCSS Machine. We have also seen how the CCSS Machine has used teamwork against our nation’s education, values, work ethic, and anything in between.

In the name of ‘student success’ we have seen ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) blatantly misguide our nation. No doubt we will continue to see more and more teamwork from the CCSS Machine from now until ESSA is fully entrenched.

So, what can, we, the Anti CCSS Warriors work on as a team?!

It is my researched opinion AND personal belief that we CONTINUE with truthful consistency in what we expose. While I have used the David/Goliath story as a comparison between ‘teams’ in this War Against the Core, I think we can also use the principles behind erosion.

Think about it, that one drop of water hitting the dirt will do little, but several drops at the same time create a puddle. Turn a hose full of water on the soil and you see the ground create a hole. The more water, the bigger the hole. What’s my point? With enough truthful evidence pointed in the most influencing direction, it  will create such a gap in the CCSS Machine, there is NO way it will be able to grind on.

So, what truth have I for you this weekend? The CCSS Machine is grinding out some teamwork of their own you can use against them.

Collective Resumes?

ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) uses social media quite a bit to spew CCSS Machine rhetoric. Below is a screen shot I think you will find interesting. As usual, the added emphasis you see is mine.

crawford

As you well know, several anti CCSS Warriors have connected the Gates Foundation to ASCD, so we won’t focus on that aspect. What we need to focus on is the “Faculty
Team Resume”. However, before we do, I want you to see what I was able to find out about Patrick Crawford in a visual way.

Crawford and a MD School:

fountaindale

That MD School:
As far as finding out any more about Fountaindale, there is almost no information on their website. I can tell you that they are associated with the Chesapeake Coalition of Essential Schools. Fountaindale is an elementary school aligned to CCSS and STEM. The school uses Teacher Incentive Funds and MAPS for assessing ‘rigor’. See: http://fountaindaleleadershipportfolio.weebly.com/index.html

I can also share with you that Fountaindale’s school has been key to a LA (Louisiana School District).

Anti CCSS Consistent Truths to Learn and Share:

As anti CCSS Warriors, you need to see this 73 page document. It refers to all kinds of CCSS Machine groups, efforts, practices, and more. For example, Project RED (a Pearson Publishing Data mining mammoth); Using only CCSS Machine member organizations for Professional Development; How the Essential School Networks/Corsortiums are needed; Laying out what whole school reform should look like; How Gulen type education is needed; Using the “Using Minds Well” products; and how students are to be the ‘workers’ while teachers are the ‘coaches’, especially when it comes to 21st Century Learning. See: baker—baker-middle-2015-sig-application

As anti CCSS Warriors, here is what I have found on the Chesapeake Coalition of Essential Schools,
a) their website address: http://chesapeakeces.org/
b) their trademark tagline uses ‘rigor’ and ‘caring’
c)  their mission statement, “is to support schools and the people and communities touched by them in shaping respectful, rigorous, and responsive places of learning.”
d) all other information was blocked when I clicked on the tabs.

As anti CCSS Warriors, here is the link to the entire (nationwide) CES (Coalition of Essential Schools) directory:

As anti CCSS Warriors, you need to know that CES is big on ‘coaching’ not so much true teaching and that Dr.Linda Darling-Hammond is one of the Executive Leaders. See:

Those ‘Faculty Team Resumes’:

According to ASCD’s article which  Patrick Crawford wrote, here are his reasons WHY we need to shift from individual resumes to team resumes.

1) As a source of pride for your school collectively
2) Using humans as ‘assets’ during perspective parents/student events
3) As a tool to build each other up in a public way
4) Showing a collective body of achievements earned
5) Here is a screen shot of what Crawford has created and is helping spread across the nation:

Crawford even gives ASCD readers (and us as Warriors) tips on how to make your school’s faculty look like his. (As Warriors, of course we will use the information to preserve individualism in our schools.)
Here is the link to his article: http://www.ascd.org/publications/newsletters/education-update/aug16/vol58/num08/Showing-Off-with-a-Faculty-R%C3%A9sum%C3%A9.aspx

ASCD:  Churning Out 21st Century Professional Development:

Crawford’s work wasn’t the only recent news I thought we should learn about, there is
also the Professional Development model for 21st Century Learning. Here is a screen shot I thought you might find very revealing.

fetters

To explain what I mean by Fetters best advice above, here is his opinionated statement near the close of the article he wrote for ASCD. “Of course, in my opinion, the most powerful PD out there is your PLN (professional learning network) via Twitter & Voxer. It takes time to build and maintain an effective PLN but it’s so worth the investment. Feel free to check out my blog post from a few months back on this very topic if you’re not connected……yet.”

Fetters also says we must ‘think outside the box’ when it comes to Professional Development in a modern day setting. See what else he has to say about the great things about CCSS, 21st Century technology, and more: http://edge.ascd.org/blogpost/21st-century-professional-development

Fetters is in the IRT (Information and Resources and Technology) Department (a Support Staff position) at Wendell ES Magnet.  See: http://www.wcpss.net/Page/19898

As an Anti CCSS Warrior, you might find interesting the School Improvement Plan from Wendell ES Magnet. See: http://www.wcpss.net/Page/19099

ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education)  has quite a few ideas about 21st Century PD in team settings which resemble what Crawford and Fetters are harping on: on-line, collective, and aligned!

If you want a quick look at ISTE’s view, check out this blog (with a short video) detailing ISTE’s Professional Development. This work by a grad student.

Closing:

Press on, my Warriors, get this truth out as you need to and let’s continue to erode the CCSS Machine!
