What She Said…

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, would you wait 4 or 5 years to enact your household budget or a family emergency plan? No! You’d make sure once you set a budget you’d immediately begin going by it.

Not so with our federal government’s involvement with education. Nope, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) was passed in Dec. 2015, we’re not far from its 5th anniversary. As federal laws go, especially for education, ESSA’s set to be re-authorized and funding extended in 2020.

One huge bone of contention about ESSA was the phrase ‘supplement not supplant’. (This was also in ESEA, Elementary and Secondary Education Act. ESSA is the re-authorized version of ESEA.)

devosled
Supplement Vs Supplant:

Why do I bring this up, Warriors?

Because Sec. DeVos has recently completed a new non-regulatory ‘Supplement, not Supplant’ guidebook for SEAs and LEAs (State Education Agencies, usually your State Dept. of Education) and Local Education Agencies).

The bottom line: While the document is supposedly a guideline, the language in ESSA is more of a mandate. Where will we most likely see ‘supplements’ in education? Title One funding, my Warrior friends. Title One, as we know, via ESSA, was made over to cover EVERY student, not those in the most need, as Title One was originally to cover. Title One funds, via ESSA, are to be used to label and categorize mental and behavioral health of EVERY student in the community, not simply the public school system.

Warriors, this new guidebook is the result of the federal government wanting to appear ‘flexible’ to each State. We’ve seen the ‘flexibility’ of the federally run education. There isn’t any. Especially when you consider that Page 17 of ESSA clearly states how ALL education is to be:

nochoice

Supposedly, the public was allowed time to give their feedback about how federally led education was to help supplement local education, not supplant it. Yet, when you look at the guidelines (which coach SEAs and LEAs on HOW to use federal funds in ADDITION to Title One), you don’t see the public’s desire to END federal control of education, you see the CCSS Machine’s grasp tighten the funding streams, just a wee bit more.

Two questions: How does this type of ‘guidance’ even begin to appear like local control in education? How does this further illustrate our example of sticking to a family budget instead of waiting 5 years to enact it?

Two answers: Guidance, via our federal government, is a dressed up mandate to conform. In education, conformity equals the ‘privilege’ of receiving federal funds.

As far as our example, with 5 years between making plans and enacting them, doesn’t do anything to achieve your goals. It’s a moot point. You’d have been better off to not make a budget if you won’t work to make it happen.

If any State TRULY wanted to be free of the federal intrusion in education at ALL age levels for ALL choices, the answer is a plain as day: DON’T take the money! It violates our Tenth Amendment!!the-capitol-view-return-to-sender-snqyhq-clipart

When you read the Supplement Not Supplant Guidelines, look at the language..’May a State do x,y, and z’? If the States weren’t addicted to the federal funds, no State leader would EVER need to ask the government, “Mother, May I?!”

Higher Education’s Accrediting Updates:

As if we’ve not been insulted enough by the DeVos leadership, we also have the President’s EO (Executive Order from 2017) about reforming accrediting bodies when it comes to higher education. DeVos, at her ‘boss’s’ beck and call, has also updated (aka: reformed) higher education. Warriors, again, it’s taken 2 years for this ‘reform’ to hit the States. The U.S. Dept. of Education’s Press Release was even more insulting. DeVos has been ‘rethinking’ higher education reform.
Really, this woman with ZERO educational background?

sadevos

To access the 28 Page document full of DeVos’s ‘thoughts’, go here. Below is a screen shot of the front page with added emphasis.

accredit
While I do recognize we need to rein in predatory accrediting and higher education schools, it should be a locally led charge, not a federally run dictated system.

This Accrediting document even has the same “States must report to the federal government”, as we’ve seen in ESSA. Let’s also take into account that EOs bypass Congress, therefore, bypassing “We the People”. With education, NO federal official, President Trump included, should have power to interfere.
US fed statute

With the HEA (Higher Education Act) currently under re-writing for re-authorization, we know more mandates and compliance will be forced upon the States.

Below, is a graphic image I made back when DeVos had just been confirmed as Secretary of Education. As you’ll see, Dr. King was still around. I left his name so Warriors could see the status quo in the CCSS Machine would live on.

Closing:

Warriors, we MUST Repeal ESSA, HEA, and even, WIOA as soon as possible. If we don’t more DeVos (or whomever’s appointed to take federal education to the next level) reforms will be visited upon us. (*Note: ESSA: Every Student Succeeds Act; HEA: Higher Education Act); WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act))
Do you think our budgets can withstand this type of tyranny? I don’t!

*Two personal notes:
a) While I will continue to do my best to keep you up to date on the overreaches of the CCSS Machine, I also am having to divide my time between education and a recent nasty turn of events concerning my neighborhood. Homes on my block are being targeted to be impacted by a road widening project involving a P3 (public private partnership) contract. We are facing a long and uphill battle to save our homes. As America marches more toward the UN’s (United Nations) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we’ll ALL see this happen more and more.

b) Breaking News Journal has honored me with taking all my Common Core Diva visual content and placing in on their Roku channel. BNJ is a Christian based national network and survives on view funding (much like PBS without the agenda). If you’d like to donate to BJN, go here. BJN is also on Facebook. BJN has also partnered with Bears and Lord Network. B & L has a phone app where you can find out the latest anti Fed Ed News, too! B & L has graciously added my content (from Twitter) there. Be Sure To Tune In

Fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors,
Does the featured image look familiar? We know the digital push for our families is at an all-time high. We’ve certainly seen the research on too much screen time and the damages laid upon our students when they are on their computers. But, what about the stealthy moves by those TV networks to not only draw students in, but entire families?

The type of shows being used? CCSS aligned education, for sure. Wrapped up as fun? More than likely. Adventures? Maybe. Indoctrinating plots or themes? You bet. The trouble is, you’ll never notice IF you’re not informed.

No, I’ve not recently read “1984”, but we all may as well of. “Big Brother” is snooping through our homes already. If you’ve got a Smart Meter for electricity; a Smart TV; a Smart kitchen appliance; and, most especially if your student has a school issued laptop. For those who home educate or take virtual classes? It’s a safe bet to know you’re ‘watched’ as well.

So, why would I bring up TV networks? Does this have to do with the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandate that no student would be denied 24/7, 365 days a year access to quality digital on-line learning resources? I believe it does, 100%. In late 2017, I shared with you how Saturday morning TV had been totally transformed from simple cartoon fun to education.

If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know the tie between the major media companies, especially Silicon Valley venture capitalists in major media (ex: Netflix), have a massive game plan to reinvent education. It’s well it the works. Part of the plan is to totally shift away from people on school boards. Another part? Totally computer (and/or) TV driven education. Netflix is hardly alone, there’s Google, Verizon, Amazon, and scores of others ‘hot’ in technology and cannot wait to infiltrate our families with ‘education’.

Enter Quest TV:

While most of the attention for TV indoctrination has been obvious on cable and satellite TV, what about good, old-fashioned antenna TV? Warriors, if you have an antenna and receive PBS (Public Broadcasting System), that’s a start. But what about your local CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, or, other networks?

What I’ve found is that they, too, are opening up channels on your antenna feed exclusively for education-that-doesn’t-feel-like-education-but-is. Especially for STEM. One such channel? Quest TV. This one is fairly new (at least in my neck of the woods). It’s 24/7 access to ‘entertain and inform’. Simply look at the leaders behind Quest TV and you have to wonder no more about the intent. Former leaders from NBC (US and globally), National Geographic, Discovery Channel, ABC, and, Kraft. Warriors, every single one of these groups is a CCSS Machine member. What’s worse is that every one of these uses the UN-driven STEM as well.

While all that seems bad enough, what we should also consider is the presence of a former leader of SyncSense. What’s that? Look below at a screen shot from their website:

syncsense

If you cannot read the description of Syncsense in the picture, “When audiovisual content spikes the brain, you’ve captured the viewer’s attention. We optimize content to drive spikes or brain synchronization-without changing the creative. SyncScore then measures the effectiveness of media elements causing those spikes.”

If you’re not exactly sure what the ‘brain spikes’ and data mining mean? Think:
attention grabbing and retaining information, which keeps you coming back to watch more TV. (a 2013 article explains this). Another article explains that the reason these brain spikes are so important is due to the fact we see and hear, so taking in information in short visual bursts is ideal.

Apply this concept to all the computer time students have thanks to the CCSS Machine. If you’d like more research into the how and why this type of activity happens in the human brain, visit this blog.

Warriors, while it is fantastic how our brains are wired, it is terrible how the CCSS Machine has turned that into manipulation!

Warriors, is it any wonder the shift in TV is so successful? I know many researchers have studied this topic for years, but add to it the digital learning, global push and it indeed spells massive trouble for entire families, not just students! Notice that some of the same groups in the CCSS Machine also are clients of SyncSense.

syncclient

SyncSense also has analytical clients. Among them, Peace Corps! If you wish to learn about the founder and other key data mining partners are in SyncSense, go here.

Enter the NIH (National Institutes of Health):

Warriors, did you know the NIH, back in 2014, had a research article exposing CCSS was BAD for students? Here’s the excerpt:

“Today, the US government, facing numerous educational failures, has developed the Core Curriculum, which proposes to address the needs of all students (5). The Core Curriculum assumes children have homogeneous gifts and weaknesses and, thus, applies one standard for all students. Yet, we are learning that this is absolutely the wrong approach.”

Yet, in the same article, it cited that ‘critical thinking’ is a ‘must’ for education. Warriors, as we know the CCSS Machine’s ‘critical thinking’ is not true critical thinking. The CCSS version is about ‘what to think’ not ‘how to think’.

Fast forward to today, and the NIH is EVEN more involved in education. Why? ESSA (as a law) increased the choke hold on education by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. NIH is a key part of the HHS.

Conflicting “Evidence” From the NISCE:

In 2013, the NISCE (National Institute for Student-Centered Education) held a “Learning and Brain” Conference. During this Conference, it was widely shared and taught that CCSS was GOOD for neuroscience and student’s brains.

learningbrainLink to the NISCE Conference article.
Link to the Pearson Publishing article.

Warriors, if you are not sure what the NISCE does, it is an arm of the Schools for Children, Inc. According to the homepage for NISCE, their goal is the center of education being students, not tests or politics. While I can find no activity for NISCE beyond 2015, take a look through their website’s search results for “Common Core”. You’ll see 21st Century schools/skills and more.

If you’re not sure what Schools for Children, Inc. does, look below:

s4cIf you cannot read the words, basically Schools for Children, Inc. puts students needs first. Then, fills educational gaps. Followed by your school leaders receiving the right professional development. Then, the families and communities are factored in for a quality education. HOWEVER, read the SfC history and you’ll find the roots are in CBE (competency based education) via skill based learning. Be sure to read all three pages of the history. You should see the CCSS Machine agenda woven throughout it, just not by name.

Listed among the ‘Educator Resources’ for Schools for Children, Inc. is the ASCDNAIS, and the ISTE (*Note: ASCD is short for Association of School Curriculum Developers; NAIS is short for National Association of Independent Schools; ISTE is short for International Society of Technology in Education.)

Closing:

Warriors, make no mistake, during school hours or outside them. The CCSS Machine is after every one of us. What can you do? Unplug the TV and spend a family night watching the stars, having a pillow fight, or just hanging out. Instead of tuning in, try tuning out the indoctrination and fodder of the global grab for our brains.

One of my most distinct messages I’ve created to express my ire toward the CCSS Machine.

I Might be Banned IF…

Hello, Warriors!

It’s been a busy week and a half for me. Child Abuse in the Classroom’s national grassroots campaign kicked off, interviews to prepare for, webinars to attend, and, a video ‘class’ on the UN’s grasp on American education..enough to make me dizzy. Some even called me ‘ditzy’. Oh well, all in the life of an outspoken education activist.

So, what do I mean by the title you read? “I might be banned IF”….I told the truth…again.
Facebook banned me for doing so…again. By now, not only am I NOT surprised, I am saddened. Freedom of speech, at least according to the Facebook ‘police’ is heavily censored. I could understand if what I have to say was truly awful, but, the truth?? Seriously??

What Got Me Banned:

Quite simply, my latest video presentation. Here’s the link. If that link doesn’t work, here’s another way to access the audio. The audio version will not have the images I shared during the video, but you will be able to still get the idea that what evidence I have uncovered is key. Warriors, please share these resources. My thanks to the Warrior who created the audio version.

The research links from the video:
The first link I shared is for the Child Abuse Campaign. It has a section of its own below.

I touched on HR 3358 during the video. Use the website I embedded to search for it. This next week, I’ll be diving into this bill for a closer look.

One thing I didn’t point out, but intended to was the use of the Smurfs to push the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

During the video, I referred to my blog to access the articles by topic. As you know, I’ve devoted several years to researching education. One of the articles which sparked me to get involved was by Tom DeWeese. I not only gave you a bit of history with Tom’s article, but I also gave you a bit of what’s been happening since then and is directly related.

The technology push in America is also traceable to the UN. Read all about it, here.

One of the biggest things I shared with Warriors, is the color psychology behind the SDGs. There are two links you MUST visit! The first one is from a NGO (non government organization) run by a large group of Catholic women. The second one is from a group of ‘stakeholders’.
The UN has some serious mandates about using the logo and colors of the SDGs. Find these 2 links and see how strict it all is.

You’ll find the Global Alliance for Monitoring Education is funding assessments on a global level which fits right in with the UN’s agenda.

To see the CIPP (context, input, process, and, product) model for assessing (based off the Latin American assessments all UNESCO member-states are to use), visit the highlighted link. The CIPP image is a bit fuzzy. Here’s another resource to try.
To see the CIPP research (for measuring service based learning (aka: skill based learning), look here.

To see the UN’s definition and purpose of assessments (a ‘must’ for the 2030 Agenda), go here.

To hear the US President and the US Ambassador to the UN (Haley) re-commit the US to the UN’s reform, you have these 2 sources. Remember, Warriors, it isn’t so much what IS said sometimes as it is what ISN’T said. By committing us to the UN’s agenda, these leaders are speaking for us. We did NOT ever say we wanted UN in our US education!

Child Abuse In The Classroom:

“OUR GOAL:  To repeal ESSA and President Obama’s Executive Order 12866 which changed the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations to allow our children’s data and private information–including teacher-generated, anecdotal, psychological analysis–to be shared without parental knowledge or approval.”

Warriors, we MUST have tens of thousands of citizens join us to make the grassroots effort truly pay off. To accomplish a ‘repeal and restore’ tactic of this nature, massive numbers of outraged citizens are needed. Please visit the website, see the ESSA’s violations against all our children; learn the loopholes of FERPA.

Things I’ve found since the video was recorded AND are related!

Global Citizens:

What a Global Citizen must believe and act out daily:

(*Note this is from a preschool) If you’d like to see a ‘grown-up’ definition of becoming a global citizen, visit this website. (*Note: This resource’s history is one you’ll need to read to believe!)

Then this proclamation by a US citizen:
asseen

The Global Citizenship Initiative’s website has a Report you simply HAVE to see. It is the Report Card for each nation involved in the organization. Of course the US is a member.
Below is how ‘we’ are ranked as far as aligning to the Initiative:

globalcitizeninitiative
Warriors, it’s vital to point out that the top 3 nations (Denmark, Sweden, and, Norway) “Leading the Way” in this Initiative are ones we repeatedly see our education systems compared to  OR lamented over that the US isn’t MORE like these nations when it comes to education! Stop comparing!! When this happens, we are actually encouraging our US education system to become Un-American!!!

The Global Education Associates openly participates in the UN activities. The US, is a member country. You’ll find the Eden Project is also a part of the GEA (Global Education Associates)

The P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) is a well known CCSS Machine member organization. But did  you know they are ‘buddies’ with the UN?! That’s right, the ‘buddies’ have been working together to ruin American education since 2013.

Not only is the P21 up to its neck in the UN’s activities, but they are also pushing the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. These Centers are most definitely a globalizing move as well as being embedded in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). P21’s latest Report shows how our babies (18 months to 6 years old) can learn BETTER when involved in a 21st CCLC.

babyp21
Since so much of ESSA has technology as an educational ‘resource’, it’s important to connect that back to the UN’s push for technology (see the links above I shared; as well in the video). Warriors, look at the evidence directly above.  It’s from a group known as ‘CUE’. Cue loves to lobby legislators. They are also partners with inACOL (International Assoc. for K-12 Online Learning). In 2016, inACOL gave a proposal to the UN for the 2030 Agenda in education. (*Note, thanks to Warrior Victoria for the CUE lead.)

unescoinacol

If you’ve heard of a “New Tech” school, it’s part of the combination of efforts in educational reform. According to the NTN (New Tech Network), students are BETTER College/Career Ready Graduates! Here’s their Report stating this. (*Note: “The New Tech Network (NTN) of nearly 200 schools in 28 states..” contains about 72,000 children.) When you access the Report, be sure to read the President’s remarks. You’ll find that global citizenship is among the themes of these schools.

Closing:

So, Warriors, there you have it. You, too, can be banned for sharing the truth about the CCSS Machine! So, speak loudly, speak daily, and speak out to save our nation!

Seeing More About Education?

Warriors Against the Core, make no mistake, I am not a fan of MORE  student-led education as a solution to the problems in American education. I believe that teachers make much more difference in education than the CCSS Machine has reduced them to.

seymour

Student-led school makes as much sense as putting them in charge of making dinner when they’re 6 months old.

Teachers are NOT meant to be relegated to merely being a warm body in a room. That’s totally NOT why these ladies and gentlemen became interested in education, it’s not why they went to college, or became massively in debt to earn those teaching degrees.

teachersigh

Warriors, evidence has proven that the target of the CCSS Machine’s design on modern classrooms is ‘more student, less teacher’.  It certainly gains momentum with guru-like quotes similar to the one you see in the screen shot. (“Less Us, More Them”)

We have teachers for a purpose. It isn’t to baby-sit, it isn’t to watch his/her students glued to a computer. It’s to lead them! It’s to lead them well. It’s to show other humans how to not only gain information, but to help shape them. Reducing a teacher’s role to what ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is, is flat out criminal.

Telling a teacher that due to Common Core (or whatever label is slapped on it) he/she MUST do this or that is wrong.

Warriors, I’m sure you seen a shift in teaching responsibilities before ESSA’s passage. I know I have.

In fact, I recently shared with you the definitions about learning in the ESSA Era. It’s where teacher AND student are considered in the same context! While this might be okay in some educational settings, an across-the-board, one-way-to-educate-everyone is a landmine waiting to be stepped upon!

Modern day education reform has re-assigned the control in the classroom. What is going to happen when things go awry? We’ve seen time and time again how the CCSS Machine has turned both teachers and students into guinea pigs, will be let them experiment even more in 2017-18’s school year?!

By putting the kids in charge of education, it shifts the burden of responsibility. It changes ‘accountability’. It can set them up to fall flat on their faces. It also will cause a much more conducive platform for the Delphi move of a nanny state school and its control

Another dangerous mindset we can connect to the CCSS Machine’s urging of having kids as teachers, is the rhetoric connected to education: ‘Let ’em fail, it’ll teach ’em better than I can.’ “Failing means grit; grit is good for them, especially when they are young.” This type of thinking and actions are quite frankly, hard-hearted!

‘Rigor and grit’ do not speak to a student who is scared, who has NO earthly idea what is expected of them, or when they are having a bad day. A computer cannot hug a student or give a ‘high five’ a child. Likewise, setting them up to fail on purpose is mean-spirited.

It’s like tying their shoe strings together and then laughing when they fall. Or, the CCSS Machine’s passive-aggressive style of ‘Is that the best you can do? You should try harder!’

Warriors, I’m not suggesting to baby every student at every age, but certainly, we must have guidance and leadership that is centered on how to educate in many different ways.

See how this may translate in a picture version, below:

styles

Source to Mosston and Ashworth’s Spectrum can be found here. I’d like to point out that they very clearly state that ‘variety’ is the spice in teaching.

CCSS Machine’s idea of ‘teaching’ with variety is there is almost NONE! Has this changed since ESSA? Not much!

PipelineR10

This is what ‘rigor’ is designed for. It’s failing us every day, in every State, and at every age level.

A visual for ESSA ‘teaching’:

essawheel.jpg
The Source to see the ‘hamster wheel’ for yourselves is here.

After all, if we’re being honest, thanks to ESSA, WIOA, HEA, federal and state legislation, and the CCSS Machine, computers and digital have BECOME the TEACHERS!

So Who Was Seymour Papert?

If you looked at the featured screen shot (‘less us/more them’), you probably saw the name “Seymour Papert”.

Seymour was considered a great ‘technology-before-its-time’ kind of professor.

Seymour was teaching/leading at MIT (which by the way is a huge CCSS Machine member). He was credited with predicting kids and computers as the learning method of the future way before most folks. (*Note: the “21st Century Learning” page provided at the bottom of the highlighted link is broken. However, I was able to find this, instead. Warriors, you should ‘love’ the global learning/leadership tag.)

Back in 1995, C-Span broadcast an Education and Technology hearing. Seymour Papert was a witness. The entire video is over 2 hours, but I urge you to listen. Note who was attending the hearing, who was speaking then. Listen to the tones about the excitement for this advance in education. Source

After MIT, Seymour landed in Maine. This article (2000) reveals how his ‘technology education’ activism can be tied to (then) Gov. Angus King. King is now a Senator for Maine. Is King supportive of more technology in the classrooms? (In the 2000 article, you’ll see how he wanted a computer given to every 7th grader.) In 2017, is his support still there?  Absolutely! (*Many State leaders are convinced a computer for every student is a marker of successful education.)

Do these leaders understand (completely) what this is REALLY doing to our teachers? I do not believe they do.

In 2015, (then) President Obama signed the “Computer Science for All” Initiative. Seymour was said to be a ‘father of CS (Computer Science)’ in this resource:

cspapert

Seymour died in 2016. His MIT obituary is lionizing, to say the least. I only include this because the Professor’s work proves his thinking about children and the way they learn was altered in Switzerland by a philosopher and psychologist Jean Piaget. Seymour was credited with leading the revolution for technology in 3 distinct areas: a) children, b) AI (artificial intelligence, which is also replacing teachers), and c) education via technology.
(*Note: Piaget was a co-director for UNESCO as well as an honorary Harvard doctorate recipient. As you know, both Harvard and UNESCO are CCSS Machine members.) PBS’s “A Science Odyssey” ended their Piaget article with this quote:

“Piaget is widely recognized as the greatest developmental psychologist of the century. His ideas have been refined and added to, but they remain the foundation of child psychology.”

Seymour’s “Legacy” Lives On:

So, we’ve seen a distinct shift in education, Warriors. We’ve seen a distinct disrespect for teachers in our nation. While switching our students ‘on’ to computer learning, putting them in charge of said learning, we’re actually turning them ‘off’ to adults and the leadership they can provide.

We’re also seeing the adult’s authority (in appropriate measures and settings) become less and less. Why? All the ‘self-direction’. History has proven (and will continue to)  how far a person gets when the education they thought they worked hard for wasn’t ‘real education’ at all.

Technology is a poor substitute for human interaction.

So, how is Seymour’s ‘legacy’ about kids and computers living on? A couple of ways:
STEM and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math). We also can find Seymour-ish leaders, like the ones at Vision, Education, and Media (VEM)

VEMSource

Warriors, as we know, STEM is a farce as part of education. No, STEM is more about a trained workforce. So is STEAM. The evidence has been given countless times here on my blog. (*Note: the highlighted link is only one such set of documented facts.)

KQED published a short article explaining Seymour’s beliefs about ‘child’s play’ earlier this year.

Warriors, the highlighted “Computer Science for All” link also will show you how Seymour’s ‘legacy’ is living on and will continue to be seen in the 2017-18 school year.

Closing:

Earlier this year, I shared with you how the global AI (Artificial Intelligence) was taking over American education. It certainly will render human teachers as ‘obsolete’, thanks to federal law.

So, how is it surviving beyond the law? Followers of the UNESCO global ed push, most certainly. Fans of Seymour and the others like him, will also carry technology on.

However, also look to groups like the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers). They, my fellow Warriors, are a huge root into why our teachers are in the plight they’re in AND our students are learning less and less, every day in every State.

Lastly, ‘personalized learning’ is a huge educratic term for justifying the shift from teacher-central learning to ‘self-directed’. Every day, every State, my Warrior friends.

Taking Us For A Ride

Warriors, maybe you remember back in the early 90s, a PBS show called “Magic School Bus”. I know I sure do. My children loved the show.

Well, it’s back and fully aligned to not only to the CCSS Machine, but to it’s counter-part, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

The show is to be used as a tool to entice children into anything and everything STEM has to offer. All the way from its “STEM education” for a “STEM nation”, to its “STEM citizens”. (These references are to the PCAST Report I’ve shared with you many times where it’s revealed that Common Core’s introduction into education was to help hide the agenda behind STEM’s roll-out.) The show’s also sure to include the “A” (for Arts). Thus, making “STEM” become “STEAM”. (I’ve also exposed THAT agenda in education reform as well.)

I was really saddened to hear another really fun educational show has become ensnared by the CCSS Machine.

What Lurks Behind That Bus:

In a word, Scholastic, Inc. This CCSS Machine member organization has totally sold out to the education reform. Scholastic, Inc. is the company which owns “Magic School Bus”. The updated STEM Version is to be called “Magic School Bus 360”.

In another word, PBS. This CCSS Machine member organization has seen fit to have Sesame Street aligned to Common Core, so why NOT Magic School Bus?!

In a third word, Netflix. This company is owned by an educratic reformer convinced America should eliminate all school boards. Netflix also is streaming the 90s versions of Magic School Bus.

From Scholastic, Inc’s press release, this excerpt, Uniquely aligned with the global emphasis on STEM education, the new Magic School Bus360° showcases all fields of science, while embracing technology as a creative tool that supports learning and impacts daily life. The series provides an exceptional opportunity for kids to watch, learn and explore science, inspiring them to become active participants in the scientific process through the show’s extraordinary adventures and fantastic discoveries.”

Access the entire Press Release: http://mediaroom.scholastic.com/press-release/scholastic-medias-magic-school-bus-continues-legacy-magic-school-bus-360-new-netflix-o

According to the Magic School Bus website, the Bus makes real life stops at libraries across the nation. Given how ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has communities aligning to the education reform, these stops will be a great opportunity for more STEM agenda to be spread around. See: http://www.scholastic.com/magicschoolbus/travel/index.htm

While you will not see “Common Core” in plain sight on the Magic School Bus website, I did find this as evidence:

msbcc

According to EdWeek’s Blog (EdWeek is also sold out to the CCSS Machine), “The revival is timely, as there has been a nationwide push for STEM education, including by President Barack Obama, who has championed investments in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education for years.” (*Note: the entire article can be found,
http://blogs.edweek.org/teachers/teaching_now/2017/01/magic_school_bus_reboot.html?cmp=SOC-EDIT-FB )

From The Bus To The White House:

It’s no secret how much federal overreach has taken place in education. It’s also no secret how much the outgoing President has participated in these efforts either. It was, in fact, his PCAST (President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) group which gave him that Report back in 2010.

That Report had bipartisan support. The goal? Improving education. Trouble is, as we’ve seen before, Warriors, take an agenda targeting group, add federal funds, new legislation, and ‘presto-changeo’: education reform run amuck. If you’ve not seen all that I found about this Report, revisit it: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/09/02/from-the-files-pcast-stem-and-common-core/

Closing:

Warriors, while we see the damage of the STEM agenda/CCSS Machine behind us, we know that in the coming days, there will be much to fight in this continued War Vs. the Core. How much of the top-down overreach will we be free of is anyone’s guess at this point. Just remember, every single day this type of poor education continues, is another day we’ve lost many great minds.

Setting Us Up

Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors, this is the follow up to the U.S. House of Representative’s Subcommittee Appropriations article. When I closed that one, I promised that if the U.S. Senate had a similar appropriations report, I’d delve into it as well. This is that article.

If you missed the House article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/10/23/sure-fire-disaster-fed-ed/

What is interesting is that one of my dear fellow Anti CCSS/Freedom Loving Grandma Warriors, re-blogged my article with an obvious question: I do not understand how this is legal. Would someone explain it to me? My friend/Warrior was referring to how Medicaid/Medicare funding could be used in  education. I salute my friend for asking this vital question. I’m with you. HOW IS IT LEGAL?!

To see Granny’s blog, where she featured my article (I’d love for you to see what else she said/asked): http://www.rightwinggranny.com/?p=29500

Why these articles are needed: In the House Appropriations article, I showed you an in-depth look at how our taxpayer funds are being used against our children in, not only the name of education, but other areas of our lives, no matter their age. In this article, I’ll do the same with the U.S. Senate’s Appropriations for FY (fiscal year) 2017.

And…We Meet Again:

Seated on the U.S. Senate’s Subcommittee on Appropriations are none other than Sen. Lamar Alexander AND Sen. Patty Murray. The two tag-team members we saw parading ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) around as the savior of American education.

Knowing there are other ESSA supporters on BOTH sides of the ‘American taxpayer bank accounts’, we need to pay VERY special attention to their moves.

We saw in first article how wicked the House is with our money. Let’s see how wicked the Senate is.

senatesub1
Back in June of 2016, the Senate’s Subcommittee on Appropriations approved almost an exact copy of the House’s Report you saw in the House’s article.

While it’s obvious these approvals are dated, we need to hold Congress’ feet to the fire NOW. Why? The FY 2017 isn’t even 1 month old. Add to that elections in November, now a mere few days away. No matter who is elected, BECAUSE the money has already been budgeted, it will be their job to implement where the funds go!

In other words, Warriors, no matter how much we protest, Congress will continue to grind down our educational system. So, what CAN we do? Expose the wrong, seek any recourse we can.

That said, remember, I am NOT a Constitutional lawyer. However, no matter WHAT recourse we take it MUST be as a united front. These actions we are seeing are absolutely punishable. So why aren’t they being brought forth? At the very least, charging our elected officials with violating their oaths of office seems appropriate. Remember, Congress is setting a precedent here. They take our money, use it against us, dangle it in front of our States. It’s no WONDER our state leaders are jumping every time money is cast their way. How shameful it is that these leaders do NOT exercise their 10th Amendment sovereignty.
For IF they did, they’d send the federal bucks back in an envelope marked “Return to Sender”.

To  see all that the Senate has earmarked which mirrors the House:
http://www.appropriations.senate.gov/news/majority/subcommittee-approves-fy2017-labor-hhs-and-education-appropriations-bill

A Trio of Noted Differences:

While most of what the Senate has approved appears to be exactly what the House approved for FY 2017. I did find a few differences. These differences, however, are just as toxic as the House’s.

1a) Charter Schools will see an increase in funding. ESSA’s mandates also increase charter schools’ influence. The danger in charter schools is: they are being used as a way to take public schools (along with those public funds) and be turned over to private management companies for reform (aka: school turnaround). The obvious unintended consequence? Loss of local school boards. This means loss of the parent’s voices. ESSA’s mandates also include MORE P3 (public private partnerships) arrangements.
I showed you a bit of how charter schools (as part of ‘school choice’ are being falsely lauded in ESSA propagandahttps://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/08/kings-bandwagon-its-a-comin/)
1b) Since some charter schools are private, I included them in my ESSA and Private Education article. Section 4301 in the ESSA Final Conference Report begins the Charter School mandates. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/03/01/warriors-guide-to-essa-and-private-education/

2) AmeriCorps will  see less money, but an increase in presence in your State. The reason? More national and local services. (See: http://www.nationalservice.gov/) Don’t let the name fool you. This is a CORPORATION, complete with a CEO.

AmeriCorps is part of the CCSS Machine for certain. AmeriCorps is in league with STEMCorps, SeniorCorps, and FEMACorps. In my previously published article about not only AmeriCorps, but P3s using children’s recess for social agendas and profit:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/04/19/play-money/

Their 5 year strategic plan includes, leverages the strength of grantees, participants, programs, state service commissions and the American public to build a network of programs that offer effective solutions in the six priority areas: Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. We will produce these results by investing in effective local initiatives, engaging more Americans in service, supporting evidence-based programs, and leveraging public-private partnerships.
The backing for the Strategy? ” April 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the Serve America Act, which amended the national service laws to reauthorize CNCS and expand its scope and programs. This landmark bill, which passed with bipartisan support, is the foundation for our Strategic Plan.” To access the 2011-2015 Plan: 11_0203_cncs_strategic_plan
On Page 9, look at the Learn to Serve Program. Suspect to also consider: Social Innovation Fund.
Page 12: the ever present, ESSA friendly (as well as the CCSS Machine reform ideal) “school  readiness”. Yes, my Warrior friends, our students can be considered capable by, “Well-implemented national service-supported efforts can lead to critical outcomes such as improved attendance, improved engagement in coursework, improved course completion, performance at grade level, performance on standardized tests, high school graduation, and persistence in college and university. Academic achievement— performance on standardized tests, high school or college graduation—is premised on strong academic engagement—high levels of attendance, positive behavior in class, or on-time course completion.”
Page 13 in the footnotes shows you how the Corporation is working with the U.S. Education for the Higher Education parameters. Oh joy, another proving piece of evidence to unite K-12 and Higher Education. The CCSS Machine LOVES this. Why? The Higher Education Act is the LAST federal law to be reauthorized to adhere to the agenda the CCSS Machine has in the works.

3) Corporation for Public Broadcasting will see more money. The stated purpose is increase interconnectivity across America. Given how much the CCSS Machine already has invested in interconnectivity, infrastructure, and agenda, I’m not surprised. If you don’t know how PBS (Public Broadcasting System) is  embedded in ESSA, consider this excerpt, “Page 630: Preschool and ‘Ready to Learn’ digital content, especially via PBS (Public Broadcast Stations).” To see the rest of the article this comes from:

Closing:

Warriors, I don’t need to tell you how dire it is we act swiftly.

First action we MUST take: refusing to vote for any leader (local, state, federal) who supports the CCSS Machine in any way.

The American education reform is NOT a one political party problem. It’s not any ONE party’s fault we have CCSS. It’s also not any ONE party’s fault they’ve turned a deaf ear to We the People or that there’s SO much more to Common Core than just K-12 public education!

Our second action: get news like this out there! Knowledge is power. Power like this is something we Warriors MUST use effectively.

Third, IF we are to create havoc for the CCSS Machine, we need to be united. We also, MUST use the full power of our U.S. Constitution to rein in the egregious overreaches of our leaders.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious?!

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, if you remember watching “Mary Poppins” you know the title of my article should point to something simply wonderful or extra special. So why did I pick this when what I have to share is anything BUT wonderful and good?! It’s an attention grabbing word. It also got my mind to thinking…..

“Step in time; step in line”
(this is a line from another “Mary Poppins” song which translates extremely well to the timing of a Congressional Committee, the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)), the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, and how they will align as many young children as possible!

We all know Head Start and Early Head Start are government programs with top-down, federal-to-state-to-you control. Both have been embedded in the modern education reform, thanks to the CCSS Machine’s planning, funding, and implementing. ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) will most definitely ensure the continued alignment between the U.S. Dept. of Education and the U.S. Dept.of Health and Human Services, where Head Start and its Early version are housed.

Since I began publishing research in 2014, I’ve written at least 4 articles about Head Start and/or Early Head Start. If you’ve missed them, here they are:
1) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/aligned-workforces/ (connects Head Start to massive data mining)
2) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/08/tech-thursday-technically-speaking-for-ccss/ (will show you the top-down alignment for ages birth and up for an ‘educated’ workforce)
3) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/02/11/fed-ed-2017-are-you-ready/
(shows you how Head Start/Early Head Start are in the 2017 Fed Ed Budget Requests from the President)
4) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/11/the-education-road/ ( a real life example of how the federal-to-state-to-you the CCSS Machine alignment is going and how Head Start/Early Head Start is being folded in)

An Awful ‘Spoonful of Medicine’:

From the U.S. Senate’s Education and Workforce Democratic Committee:
http://democrats-edworkforce.house.gov/media/press-releases/-scott-statement-on-final-rule-for-head-start-performance-standards-

eddems
According to the embedded document attached to the Press Release (above),
45 CFR Chapter XIII RIN 0970-AC63 Head Start Performance Standards“, the Head Start Program Standards were last updated in 1998. Then, the  Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007, we found Congress instructing the Office of Head Start to update itself.

Basically, it was a ‘step in time, step in line’ move. Since 2007, tons of ‘research’ has been conducted; public feedback has been gathered; and, now is the time to ‘re-up’ the Head Start again. This 2016 final version of updates? Only 621 pages long!

Gee, just in time to step in line with ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) and its overreach into early childhood ‘education’.

On Page 15 of the latest and final version for updating Head Start/Early Head Start, you’ll find the “Compliance Table”. This table gives federal statutes, start dates, and descriptions of what each Head Start/Early Head Start Program AND location MUST do to ‘step in time, step in line’.

Included in the mandates of compliance:
Alignment of education in school and at home
Data mining
Streamlining the data collected
Credentials required to conduct ‘in home’ visits
Hours each program and location must be available
Curriculum to be used
Assessments

Here’s what the curriculum portion will embed:

So, what does the ‘partnership’ boil down to? An absolutely bitter pill to swallow!

For the Data mining connected to Early Head Start/Head Start?  Learn the CCSS Machine’s alphabet code “Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS)” and Data systems. (Page 14 of the 621 page document). It too, must be in place by Aug. 2017.

What is the QRIS? Their website: http://qrisnetwork.org/
From their website, you can learn that QRIS is a part of Build’s Initiative. Before we get to the Build’s Initiative, let me show you the once again, tangled web of the same CCSS Machine member organizations connected to the QRIS.

QRIS’s website also tells you there are public private partnerships involved in the quality control/data mining. Thus, the tangled web begins…

d) Still not finding the public private partnerships in QRIS, I desperately was hoping the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s ‘collaboration partners’ may reveal something. Boy, did it. A huge bitter pill of CCSS Machine ‘medicine’ to swallow.

earlyedtasThe groups with red stars are ones I’ve researched and have proof of their P3 (public private partnership) grasp on American education. The CCSSO, the NGA, are well known to you, the anti CCSS/ESSA Warrior, thanks to many who’ve researched their ties.

More ‘Spoons’ of Fed Ed “Medicine”:

1) Unlike the other documents I’ve researched which are from the federal government, this one (that 621 page document with a long title) actually has a redesignation table for you to see what old Standards are being shifted to. As the writer of this document put it, it’s a roadmap for ease of access. It begins on Page 16.

2) After the “roadmap”, you are ‘treated’ to all the ‘research’, ‘reasons’, and ‘purposes’ behind the latest Early Head Start/Head Start shift. In all honesty, the parts about how all this aligns to ESSA didn’t surface, that I could easily see. However, having read ESSA and listening to both Senator Alexander AND Senator Murray, it is easy to find the early education overhaul.

3) To access the 621 page document: 2016-19748

Finding Early Ed Alignment in ESSA:

When I read the 1,059 ESSA Final Conference Report, I found the following. These are selected excerpts from my previously published articles.

ESSA and the digital overreaches for the little ones:
*) “Page 630: Preschool and ‘Ready to Learn’ digital content, especially via PBS (Public Broadcast Stations).
Page 943 begins Section 9210 of the ESSA Law. This is the biggest overreach of all!
Why? “Student Home Access to Digital Learning Resources”! To find out how successful students are at HOME, a Study conducted by the Director of the Institute of Educational Sciences (IES) no later than 18 months AFTER all portions of ESSA are in place! Details of the Study will be found on Page 944.”

You’ll want the article these are in because it links you to the other areas of concern for your little ones. Near the bottom of the article, you’ll find out how I learned that Sesame Street is now CCSS Machine controlled, thus aligned.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/02/04/essa-and-digital-overload/

ESSA’s use of immigration to overreach into early education:
*) “Page 2 reveals Sections 3001-3004 (these sections begin on page 408 and follow from there) will break down what alignments, accountability, etc. will be taking place in education and services related. I found on page 409, under the Section 3001 and “Appropriations”, the following figures of the tax dollars up for grabs by the states and awarded by the federal government for this express purpose, “(1) $756,332,450 for fiscal year 2017;  (2) $769,568,267 for fiscal year 2018;(3) $784,959,633 for fiscal year 2019; and (4) $884,959,633 for fiscal year 2020.” Page 410 will show you how the ELLs (English Language Learners) will have to meet those ‘challenging state academic standards’, too.’
Skip down to section 3115 (page 421) , however and you will find that all schools will have to jump through a hoop or two to reform education so that no child will be excluded. How? Through ‘sub grants’ to eligible entities as long as they are educating students in ELA to the tune of ‘challenging state academic standards’!”

You’ll want the rest of the article this comes from so you can learn the 4 purposes of ESSA’s ties to WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). Why? One of the 4 is EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING!
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/05/essa-ties-to-wioa-2014-and-new-citizens/

ESSA in your neighborhood:
*) “Over on page 612 you can learn about types of schools and what they must provide to the neighborhood will include. Follow this through to page 615. There you will see the following language. “(2) INDICATORS.—The performance indicators  established by the Secretary under paragraph (1) shall be indicators of improved academic and developmental outcomes for children, including indicators of school readiness, high school graduation, post-secondary education and career readiness, and other
academic and developmental outcomes…” The next section is 2465 and this is where the full service community school is laid out in detail.”

ESSA’s authors used the law to codify “Promise Neighborhoods”. You’ll want to read the article this portion comes from so you can learn how your entire family will assessed, graded, and ‘encouraged’ to align with educational resources from the U.S. Depts. of Ed/Health, Human Services.

If you are interested in viewing a 2014 Head Start/Early Head Start webinar, you’ll find the video below. While the information is dated, you will find out from those involved in the P3s for early education how valuable they think your kids are (look about the 19:58 minute mark). The entire video is just over 1 hour. Be sure you listen for the ‘wedding’ remark near the end of the video.
To all those involved in the grab for our children, I say their hearts are as black as the soot on Bert’s face as he danced with the chimney sweeps in ‘Mary Poppins’.

ESSA and Digital Overload

ccssattribute

It’s a virtual (digital) overload out there!

For today’s ‘Tech Thursday’, we will look in the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) for all the digital parts of education via College and Career Readiness (the new ‘Common Core’ name). (*Note:  in the ESSA, ‘Standards’ is innocently stated as “Challenging State Academic Standards”). Why do I point this out? The law (ESSA) uses both phrases for education!

Why is digital learning a topic worth looking into? An Initiative called ‘Digital Promise’, fits oh-so-nicely into the CCSS Machine’s plans for education overhaul. As we have seen with top-down initiatives in America, where there is a plan, there are P3s (public private partnerships) who stand to profit BIG. Education is the new cash cow!

Where the Digital References Are:

The following list is from the ESSA Final Conference Report. They will also be in the Final Law Version, but the page numbers will be different.

What This All Means:

First, the ‘Digital Promise Initiative’. Back in 2011, from the White House came this report,
Digital Promise is a new national center created by Congress with bipartisan support to advance technologies that can transform teaching and learning. It is being launched today with startup funds and support from the Department of Education as well as the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Answering the President’s call to action, a number of prominent leaders in education and technology will help lead Digital Promise. Board members, who were appointed by Secretary of Education Arne Duncan based on recommendations from the House of Representatives and United States Senate, include John Morgridge (Chairman Emeritus of Cisco), Larry Grossman (former President of NBC News), Irwin Jacobs (co-founder of Qualcomm), Gilman Louie (founder of In-Q-Tel), Eamon Kelly (President Emeritus of Tulane University), Mark Dean (IBM Fellow and Vice President), Shae Hopkins (Executive Director and CEO, Kentucky Educational Television), Vince Juaristi (CEO & President, Arbola, Inc.), and Shirley Malcom (Head of the Directorate for Education and Human Resources Programs, American Association for the Advancement of Science).”
To read the entire report of facts, https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/09/15/fact-sheet-digital-promise-initiative
Be sure you note the other related initiatives for Digital Promise. I would like to point out two names I saw which jumped out at me and are also very heavily tied to the CCSS Machine. NSF (National Science Foundation) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Why this two? I have researched both extensively and have shared with you in previous articles just how embedded in the CCSS Machine’s agenda they are.
To see the Digital Promise website: http://www.digitalpromise.org/
(*Note: be sure to read the Manifesto.)

Next, the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools. See their webpage:
http://www.digitalpromise.org/initiatives/league-of-innovative-schools
Here is the number of students/schools, League members represent more than 3.2 million students in 73 districts and 33 states. Their experiences reflect the diversity and shared challenges of public education in America.” (*Note: Be sure to look at the initiatives the League has. You should be able to spot another huge  CCSS Machine member: Verizon. Also, note the adult level of activity.)
One of the featured schools? (*Note: you can find more of them, as well as the school I am about to feature in the League’s News category.)
Right in my town of residence: Mooresville, NC! This was the President’s (as in the U.S. President) ‘school of choice’ for the national address he gave about the success of digital technology. What he didn’t share is that the Superintendent of the MGSD (Mooresville Graded School District) was hand picked by Pearson Publishing for his success in Project Red (digital technology and data mining all in one slick program.) Anti CCSS Warriors, he was picked to come to a small school district to implement this digital shift in education! How do I know all this? See: http://ladyliberty1885.com/tag/project-red/ and the follow up article,
http://ladyliberty1885.com/2014/07/26/more-about-project-red-and-nc-ties/

(*Note: Digital Promise is also written into the HEA (Higher Education Act, 2008) in Section 802)

Next, Rural Education is something to dig a bit deeper into. Let me point you back to the U.S. House’s version of the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act), known as HR5. Why? The recently passed into law, ESSA, is in fact, a big compromise of the House and Senate. Certain portions of the House’s wish list for education AND portions of the Senate’s found their way into the ESSA. Rural education was brought into the mix back on Page 280 of the HR5! I wrote about it,
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/05/tech-thursday-workforce-gunning-for-hr5/
This article will show you how Rural Education via the New Schools (another CCSS Machine member) will be all about College and Career Readiness,
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/19/tech-thursday-post-secondary-champs/
(*Note: The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture will surface in this one.)

What about the consortia for digital learning and the state use of funds for digital learning?
First, the consortia members include any number of groups involved in education, especially your communities, but, secondly, it is the language used which is alarming.
“ensuring that all service and  community partners are aligned with the  academic expectations of a community school in order to improve student success…” Then a bit further down the page you find this, “USES OF FUNDS.—Subject to section 4106(f),  each local educational agency, or consortium of such agencies, that receives an allocation under section 4015(a) shall use a portion of such funds to improve the use of technology to improve the academic achievement, academic growth, and digital literacy of all students, including by meeting the needs of such agency or consortium that are identified in the needs assessment conducted under section 4106(d) (if applicable), which may include….”.
You need to read Pages 486 and 487 for yourselves to see what those inclusions are. Let me just summarize that those including are students, teachers, and school leaders; that funds are to used in not only assessments, but purchases of digital technology; and more!

Those PBS broadcasts are our last area of focus.
When I wrote about the PBS presence among the Board members of the Urban Institute (a CCSS Machine member), it was in regards to early learning research and how it will encompass immigrant children as well. The catch? CBE or Competency Based Education. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/10/ftf-prek-research-ccss-cbe/
Then there was their involvement in higher education, ‘American Graduation Day’.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/28/monday-musings-national-graduates/
Then the PBS characters from Sesame Street surfaced in another early learning program where the reading books had been aligned to the CCSS. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/11/02/monday-musings-alignment-for-wee-ones/

As anti CCSS Warriors, we’ve heard of educational research on the K-12 level, the higher education level, but did you know there’s an educational research group for those in pre-kindergarten? I first wrote about the National Institute for Early Education Research and their Zero to Three involvement:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/tag/national-institute-for-early-education-research/
While that article will name the same groups below, this time I’m taking a much closer look at each of the lesser known groups involvement into CCSS aligned preschool. What is interesting, is the NIEER is housed in Rutgers University.

NIEER’s Mission:

From the website’s ‘mission statement’, The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) conducts and communicates research to support high-quality, effective early childhood education for all young children. Such education enhances their physical, cognitive, and social development, and subsequent success in school and later life.”

As part of the Vision/MIssion of NIEER
NIEER also leads the Center on Enhancing Early Learning Outcomes (CEELO), one of 22 comprehensive centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education to strengthen the capacity of State Education Agencies to lead sustained improvements in early learning opportunities and outcomes.”

Before we get to HOW the NIEER influences early education, I think you might be interested in what groups fund the National Institute for Early Education Research.

From the website the following pro CCSS groups fund the research. Most of these are well known supporters. The ones you may not recognize have links you can follow to learn more:
U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI)
The Pew Charitable Trusts
Carnegie Corporation of New York
Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation (CCSS/STEM ties can be proven by the Foundation’s paper: http://www.grdodge.org/fileadmin/Dodge_News/Dodge_Foundation_June_2013_Grants_Announcement.pdf {refer to the education paragraph}
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation
The Prudential Foundation {see my article from “Prevent Common Core”:
http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1154 {Prudential’s CCSS ties will be revealed second in the article}

Other funders are below. Are the ‘other funders’ pro CCSS? Great question. Let’s find out!

The Fund for New Jersey, see their 4/2015 pdf document’s section 3 which details NJ education: NJKids (one of the key components? Extended preK to full day classes)
You can also find the Fund for NJ has granted the Education Law Center money to further strengthen public schools and extend preschools to full days. Find that evidence:
http://www.fundfornj.org/grants-awarded/2015 (The Ed Law Center grant is the 2nd one from the top. There are many other education grants as well which are classified by the organization’s name. To see their CCSS support, use the link: http://www.edlawcenter.org/search-results.html; you can see much about not only preschool expansion, but other education levels as well.) Before we leave the Fund for NJ and its grantee, the Ed Law Center, you might find it interesting that one of the Ed Law Center’s initiatives is for the “Great Schools of NJ”. If you didn’t know it, “Great Schools” is very much CCSS aligned/funded. How do I know? After all the “Great Schools of NJ” is a non-profit organization. The Gates Foundation has funded ‘greatschools.org’ for quite a while. You can find that evidence on both the links below:
http://www.greatschools.org/  and http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=Great%20Schools

The Schumann Fund for New Jersey, before we delve into their ties, I wanted you to see the screen shot below. The latest grant is to an early education program named “Brick”.
“Brick” stands for “Building Responsible Intelligent Creative Kids”.

Grants for Early Education can be found: http://foundationcenter.org/grantmaker/schumann/early_childhood.html

Want to learn more about “Brick”? After all it’s targeting early learners. Be sure to visit:
http://bricknewark.org/curriculum-and-instruction/ (look at the formative assessments, the digital technology that’s been tied to CCSS before)
There are other grants this Foundation you’ll want to investigate. As well. Especially their support of the ‘Grantmakers for Education’ which is tied to  the Fordham Institute, as well as others. To see for yourselves, visit:  http://www.edfunders.org/ (scroll down to see the logo for Fordham) As far as the Grantmakers members list? It’s massive AND very CCSS Machine connected. See all the member organizations:  http://www.edfunders.org/our-community/member-organizations

Smith Richardson Foundation, you can find out more about this Foundation at their website, https://www.srf.org/
That stated, here’s an excerpt about education from their ‘domestic public policy’ page,
In terms of human capital development, the Foundation has been supporting work to identify how schools can become more productive by, for example, increasing the quality of the teacher workforce or adopting more effective curricula.  Because success in the contemporary economy requires individuals to acquire education and training beyond high school, the Foundation is building a portfolio of projects on post-secondary education.”
Among the past grant recipients are the pro CCSS groups: Brookings Institute and  Harvard University (well documented ties to CCSS)
You can also find the the CCSS tied Urban Institute among the Smith Richardson Foundation’s grants.(see their 2010 publication, where they go into detail about early education success for immigrants via CCSS on page 7: 412330-Young-Children-of-Immigrants-and-the-Path-to-Educational-Success) Then, contrast that with their other 2010 publication, http://www.urban.org/sites/default/files/alfresco/publication-pdfs/901345-Will-We-Ever-Learn-What-s-Wrong-With-the-Common-Standards-Project.pdf
Urban’s Board of Directors and you’ll find members from PBS, Bank of American, the University of NC, Harvard University, and MIT.
Each of these groups have support for the CCSS alignment. See the Board:
http://www.urban.org/about/board-of-directors

The Smith Richardson Foundation has other groups with grants you need to read to believe. You will see a wide variety of educational levels from preschool to GED and everything else in between. Visit their entire ‘education’ grants,

Tulsa Community Foundation, their website: https://tulsacf.org/  Their ties to early education, CCSS alignment? See below:
tulsaschools

What you see above is from the Coalition for Community Schools. I’ve covered this Coalition in previously published articles. However, I’m including the most relevant one.

To see how the current Tulsa CCSS alignment efforts grew from an earlier Tulsa Community Foundation movement, TulsaCommunityFoundation (scroll to the bottom of page 50 and look on the right hand side for “Step Up Tulsa!”)

Back to NIEER:

I found buried in their publications and research this document which was presented in the ‘resources’ section of their newsletter detailing the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). This document was published by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). The topic? “Making PreK to 3rd Grade Assessments Matter”. You won’t believe what you read. It is full of CBE (competency based education). CBE is a huge portion of not only CCSS, but CTE (Career Tech Education).
To access the document: leading-pre-k-3-learning-communities-executive-summary
You really should look at the entire July 2015 newsletter. Why? You’ll find a global investment summit where the topic was early childhood education; you’ll find a federal budget for early childhood learning; you can find studies, and links galore.
To access the NIEER newsletter: http://nieer.org/publications/online-newsletters/volume-14-issue-14

As far as the NIEER state by state yearbook (the original screen shot of this article), you’ll want to investigate that, too. CCSS is listed in the glossary of abbreviations. You’ll also see Title One funding and TANF funding (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). I was able to tie abuse of TANF funds by CCSS in the states in my previous article, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/29/ftf-more-tracking-the-workforce-aligned-society/

Monday Musings: National Graduates

The CCSS Machine certainly has made the most out of the media frenzy to help its cause.
The CCSS Machine certainly has made the most out of the media frenzy to help its cause.

It’s a new work week, anti CCSS Warriors, but that’s okay. For us, it just means more days to fight Common Core, to preserve freedom of educational choice; it’s a new week to reach out to our legislators and say “NO!” to the data mining, the psychological abuse, the workforce alignement, the public/private partnerships, and the media. Now, why would I include the ‘media’? We’ve seen first hand, on several occasions where the sold out media circus has clamored to promote, misinform, throw stones at anyone and/or anything which might suggest the  CCSS Machine isn’t great, true, honest, or just plain good for American students.

As a small participant in the social media anti CCSS side, I wanted to use my ‘musings’ article to help lay out some newer efforts the sold out media sources are using to push, sell, indoctrinate via the TV, radio, etc. possible.

ICYMI, “Think It Up”:

This organization held a broadcast nation wide, on Sept. 11th, 2015. Backing it are the Gates Foundation, Exxon, and every major media company out there. Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS were all involved. I was too appalled to watch the pro CCSS ‘smooze fest’, but I do know from some other anti CCSS Warriors, it was quite spectacular in the category of ‘nation wide indoctrination broadcasting’. If you’d like to learn more about the TIU (Think It Up), visit their website, http://www.thinkitup.org/

Here’s a short video I found on YouTube where Nick Jonas, the TIU Ambassador, helps promote the Initiative. For myself, the irony of Nick Jonas promoting this pro CCSS effort (in disguise) is that he is a homeschool graduate. Homeschoolers, as has been proven, are NOT exempt from CCSS, they certainly are being sucked into the CCSS Machine’s grasp with the AP classes, the Career Tech Education (which waits for them in post-secondary education), and the SAT, ACT, GED, and CLEP exams.

(*Note: Since the broadcast date of 9/11/15, TIU has partnered with Project XQ. I wrote about that CCSS/CTE, workforce education project, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/15/ftf-revisit-to-redesigned-ccss-high-school/)

National Grads:

Coming soon to your PBS stations across America will be the “American Graduation Day”, set for broadcast on Oct. 3rd, 2015. It’s a 7 hour broadcast which will show the ‘champions of education’. If you look at the promo clip, you’ll see Chelsea Clinton, Michelle Obama, Arne Duncan, and major broadcasters in ‘feel good about yourself’ moments. Below, is the YouTube video:

Now, this is NOT the first American Graduation Day, it probably won’t be the last, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that we, as a nation, must be convinced about American education’s reform. If you look in-depth at the website, you’ll see how your local community can get involved. You can see which states are helping promote this. No surprise, NC (where I live) is featured as an involved state. If you’d to see if your state is ‘blue’ for helping out, visit: http://www.americangraduate.org/local-communities/

To learn more about the 2015 AGD, http://www.americangraduate.org/american-graduate-day/
(*Note: This tireless push by the P3 led CCSS Machine is supporting the current administration’s educational vision. What vision? For one, his $12 billion dollar initiative to produce more community college and college graduates. See: https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2009/07/14/investing-education-american-graduation-initiative Then, there’s the high school push to graduate. It’s part of the preK to college plan. See: https://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/education)

Nothing New:

My dear, fellow warriors, this is not the first time in history we’ve seen mass media used to control our attitudes or beliefs. The CCSS Machine has spent many dollars employing those who know how to twist every facet of the agenda behind CCSS, CTE. History is repeating itself. Ask a Nazi Germany survivor. Ask a citizen who used to live in a Communist country. Ask someone who ever lived in ANY oppressed location. If  you don’t such a person, use the London, England based “Jewish Culture Center” for their  historical proof. http://www.theholocaustexplained.org/ks4/the-nazification-of-germany/impact-of-the-nazi-state/how-did-the-nazis-use-propaganda/#.VghdmPlViko
For a refresher on the Communist propaganda, just look up the Cold War. Find “Lily 4 Liberty”, the outspoken anti CCSS advocate. See: http://www.lily4liberty.com/thoughts-on-common-core.html
A personal associate of mine who’s been warning Americans about the CCSS education reform for many years, Dr. Oddy Crist. See her quick anti CCSS testimony:
