I Might be Banned IF…

Hello, Warriors!

It’s been a busy week and a half for me. Child Abuse in the Classroom’s national grassroots campaign kicked off, interviews to prepare for, webinars to attend, and, a video ‘class’ on the UN’s grasp on American education..enough to make me dizzy. Some even called me ‘ditzy’. Oh well, all in the life of an outspoken education activist.

So, what do I mean by the title you read? “I might be banned IF”….I told the truth…again.
Facebook banned me for doing so…again. By now, not only am I NOT surprised, I am saddened. Freedom of speech, at least according to the Facebook ‘police’ is heavily censored. I could understand if what I have to say was truly awful, but, the truth?? Seriously??

What Got Me Banned:

Quite simply, my latest video presentation. Here’s the link. If that link doesn’t work, here’s another way to access the audio. The audio version will not have the images I shared during the video, but you will be able to still get the idea that what evidence I have uncovered is key. Warriors, please share these resources. My thanks to the Warrior who created the audio version.

The research links from the video:
The first link I shared is for the Child Abuse Campaign. It has a section of its own below.

I touched on HR 3358 during the video. Use the website I embedded to search for it. This next week, I’ll be diving into this bill for a closer look.

One thing I didn’t point out, but intended to was the use of the Smurfs to push the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

During the video, I referred to my blog to access the articles by topic. As you know, I’ve devoted several years to researching education. One of the articles which sparked me to get involved was by Tom DeWeese. I not only gave you a bit of history with Tom’s article, but I also gave you a bit of what’s been happening since then and is directly related.

The technology push in America is also traceable to the UN. Read all about it, here.

One of the biggest things I shared with Warriors, is the color psychology behind the SDGs. There are two links you MUST visit! The first one is from a NGO (non government organization) run by a large group of Catholic women. The second one is from a group of ‘stakeholders’.
The UN has some serious mandates about using the logo and colors of the SDGs. Find these 2 links and see how strict it all is.

You’ll find the Global Alliance for Monitoring Education is funding assessments on a global level which fits right in with the UN’s agenda.

To see the CIPP (context, input, process, and, product) model for assessing (based off the Latin American assessments all UNESCO member-states are to use), visit the highlighted link. The CIPP image is a bit fuzzy. Here’s another resource to try.
To see the CIPP research (for measuring service based learning (aka: skill based learning), look here.

To see the UN’s definition and purpose of assessments (a ‘must’ for the 2030 Agenda), go here.

To hear the US President and the US Ambassador to the UN (Haley) re-commit the US to the UN’s reform, you have these 2 sources. Remember, Warriors, it isn’t so much what IS said sometimes as it is what ISN’T said. By committing us to the UN’s agenda, these leaders are speaking for us. We did NOT ever say we wanted UN in our US education!

Child Abuse In The Classroom:

“OUR GOAL:  To repeal ESSA and President Obama’s Executive Order 12866 which changed the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations to allow our children’s data and private information–including teacher-generated, anecdotal, psychological analysis–to be shared without parental knowledge or approval.”

Warriors, we MUST have tens of thousands of citizens join us to make the grassroots effort truly pay off. To accomplish a ‘repeal and restore’ tactic of this nature, massive numbers of outraged citizens are needed. Please visit the website, see the ESSA’s violations against all our children; learn the loopholes of FERPA.

Things I’ve found since the video was recorded AND are related!

Global Citizens:

schumerThen this:

wonder
What a Global Citizen must believe and act out daily:

(*Note this is from a preschool) If you’d like to see a ‘grown-up’ definition of becoming a global citizen, visit this website. (*Note: This resource’s history is one you’ll need to read to believe!)

Then this proclamation by a US citizen:
asseen

The Global Citizenship Initiative’s website has a Report you simply HAVE to see. It is the Report Card for each nation involved in the organization. Of course the US is a member.
Below is how ‘we’ are ranked as far as aligning to the Initiative:

globalcitizeninitiative
Warriors, it’s vital to point out that the top 3 nations (Denmark, Sweden, and, Norway) “Leading the Way” in this Initiative are ones we repeatedly see our education systems compared to  OR lamented over that the US isn’t MORE like these nations when it comes to education! Stop comparing!! When this happens, we are actually encouraging our US education system to become Un-American!!!

The Global Education Associates openly participates in the UN activities. The US, is a member country. You’ll find the Eden Project is also a part of the GEA (Global Education Associates)

The P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) is a well known CCSS Machine member organization. But did  you know they are ‘buddies’ with the UN?! That’s right, the ‘buddies’ have been working together to ruin American education since 2013.

Not only is the P21 up to its neck in the UN’s activities, but they are also pushing the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. These Centers are most definitely a globalizing move as well as being embedded in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). P21’s latest Report shows how our babies (18 months to 6 years old) can learn BETTER when involved in a 21st CCLC.

babyp21
Since so much of ESSA has technology as an educational ‘resource’, it’s important to connect that back to the UN’s push for technology (see the links above I shared; as well in the video). Warriors, look at the evidence directly above.  It’s from a group known as ‘CUE’. Cue loves to lobby legislators. They are also partners with inACOL (International Assoc. for K-12 Online Learning). In 2016, inACOL gave a proposal to the UN for the 2030 Agenda in education. (*Note, thanks to Warrior Victoria for the CUE lead.)

unescoinacol

If you’ve heard of a “New Tech” school, it’s part of the combination of efforts in educational reform. According to the NTN (New Tech Network), students are BETTER College/Career Ready Graduates! Here’s their Report stating this. (*Note: “The New Tech Network (NTN) of nearly 200 schools in 28 states..” contains about 72,000 children.) When you access the Report, be sure to read the President’s remarks. You’ll find that global citizenship is among the themes of these schools.

Closing:

So, Warriors, there you have it. You, too, can be banned for sharing the truth about the CCSS Machine! So, speak loudly, speak daily, and speak out to save our nation!

Update on “Of Late”

When I wrote “Of Late”, I knew there were several key pieces of evidence to present and somehow tie together.

Almost immediately after the article hit the social media circuit, I got at least 2 other leads from fellow Warriors, making EVEN more connections to the subject matter in “Of Late”. If you missed that topic, it was all about the how our current U. S. Congress is bowing MORE to a global vent for workforce based education for all ages and all educational choices.

What follows is to be used as tools for every anti Fed Ed Warrior out there. Yes, it’s in-depth. But, it needs to be.

Where I Left Off:

Warriors, I left you with the confirmed evidence that American education is being used as a tool against us for the purpose of reshaping our nation. To continue that re-shaping, look to North Dakota, first.

Heading West:

My fellow Warrior from “The Roughrider State”, noticed that some of the items I shared seemed a bit TOO familiar. She then referred me to Gov. Burgum’s recent Innovation in Education Summit. She laid out some quick facts about the ties some of those presenting ‘expert’ evidence have to the CCSS Machine. She heavily questions how well these people represent the values of the North Dakotians.

burgum

I  found Dintersmith involved in another education reform area (which was also another tip from my ND friend). That is the “Most Likely to Succeed” documentary. This was filmed back in 2015 and was considered a hit by the Sundance Film Festival. What the documentary shows is chilling, Warriors. Below is the just over 2 minute trailer. Notice the key CCSS Machine members (Robinson is tied to Pearson, Khan is tied to the Khan Academy and received Gates Foundation funding to switch to CCSS, Common Core State Standards.)

(*Note: the full length documentary is not available legally for free on You Tube due to copyright issues.)
Below is a ‘team’ spirited description about the documentary. The number one team member? Dintersmith!

mostlikely1
If you’d like to see the “Most Likely to Succeed Learning Sparks” (short videos to spur you into action to help create more ‘innovation’ in your schools), find them here. Warriors, you find out how to ‘hack’ education and more. Look for Linda Darling-Hammond to be among the ‘experts’. Try not to cringe.

Warriors, I haven’t forgotten Dintersmith’s assignment by former President Obama (in the brief bio description above) to the UN. Neither should you.

Time and time again, I’ve shown you fact based research on how the former leader and his administration bent over backwards to help continue the cycle of ‘dumbing down’ American education.
There was the PCAST Report from 2010 where STEM was ushered in as a disguise for the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), thanks to the NSF (National Science Foundation) and many other CCSS groups. There was also ‘innovation’ after ‘innovation’ initiative or some digital push to be foisted on our teachers and students.

Thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), those ‘innovation’ and digital overhauls are 100% certain. Has our current President slowed any of this down? Hardly.

Mr. Trump has, in fact, seemingly turned a deaf ear to the CCSS Machine’s technology de facto moves.

To see what Pres. Obama’s White House Report (Next Generation High Schools) featuring Mr. Dintersmith, contained, look here.

Warriors, remember, Dintersmith is a business man, not an educator. The fact sheet for the same White House Report reveals not only a big STEM push, but CTE (Career Tech Education) push, too. Both STEM and CTE are tied up in CCSS, apprenticeships, and the global education scheme of the United Nations.

Getting Back To The “Most Likely”:

Warriors, here’s an almost 30 minute video featuring the producer and lead team member for “Most Likely to Succeed”. You’ll not only see clips from the full documentary, you’ll hear first hand pro CCSS Machine discussion. Once again, Linda Darling-Hammond will surface during this video with her explanation as to how ‘grit’ will help solve the outdated American education. Listen all the way to the end. There is key evidence there.

Meanwhile In North Dakota:

One of the major concerns of my ND Warrior friend is shared by others in a few other States. The profiling of our high school students. If you’ve heard of “NorthStar” you know what I mean. The Facebook group Educray is based in TX. When my ND Warrior shared her concerns on social media, Educray was quick to join her. See below:

northstar
From TX, the Highland Park ISD graduate profile reeks of “content rich” global citizens rhetoric.

To see the Profile of a Graduate/EdLeader21 description of these types of data mining profiles, access the information here. To see the 4 Cs, collaboration, creativity, communication, and, critical thinking (which replace the 3 Rs in education), look here.
Getting Smart (Tom VanderArk) has a detailed article and podcast you’ll need to investigate. You’ll see other States using these profiles for ‘quality education’.

ReTool Your School:

Also featured in the ND Innovation Summit was “School ReTool”. If you’re not familiar, have you noticed how many of our schools are building torn down to be replaced by buildings which could double as a prison? To find out about this movement and how it connects to the global scheme:

https://vimeo.com/album/3269852

If you wonder about the ReTool’s ‘mission’? Look below:

retool1

Among School ReTool’s Partners? Groups from ME, NH, CO, CCSS Machine members Hewlett Foundation, Ted Dintersmith, and more. Find the rest here.

Part of the ‘retooling’? “Academic interships”..a fancy name for ‘Apprenticeships’!! If you’ll remember, Warriors, most of the “Of Late” article spells out for us the global ties to apprenticeships, higher education, and more. To see School ReTool’s Academic Internship plot, visit here.

Warriors, since most of the apprenticeships and internships are targeting our high schoolers in an attempt to groom them for higher education, we know to be watching the post-secondary reform like a hawk. You also know, I have been helping you do just that for years. EdWeek has an article, published earlier this week which reveals some valid points (even for a pro CCSS/ESSA source).

Point #1: Since the U.S. Secretary DeVos has been in office, she’s tackled much more higher education reform than K-12th grades.
Point #2: There’s a ton more federal control on colleges, community colleges, proprietary (for profit) schools, and all the early college, skill prep programs to unite K-12th to post-secondary education.

Innovation Kills:

Warriors, much of the conversation about all this alignment, reform, and increased innovation leaves out the bare faced fact that innovation actually stunts our minds.
How? Too much of anything is bad for us. As the push to unite the USA to a global education continues; technology and innovation/infrastructure for such will continue to envelope us.

Released in 2016, is the short You Tube film which depicts a father and child. Conformity to a work/school system is the topic. According to the resource I found highlighting this film, the tone of the writer is that we must change society to join work and education.
Exactly the message we are hearing from the UN, Congress, and our Administration in Washington, D.C.

The writer stresses that is it our current mindset toward work and school which is killing our student’s minds. In the fact-based research and evidence, it is the CCSS Machine grasp on education which is doing the stunting. NOT parents, not our environment.

I was able to find that one of the producers of “Alike” (Daniel M. Lara) is tied to the Blender Foundation and their 2016 Conference, where he was a featured speaker. Blender Conferences have been an annual event for a while now. Blender’s focus? Arts, technology, animation, and all related subjects. I also found that the Blender Foundation was cited as a resource (page 86) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) publication from 2015 for IGI Global for use in America. This Google Book is a goldmine of education reform. Chapter 83 is all about embedding pedagogy into NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards), you’ll see how innovation is to be used to target those ‘less academic’ than their peers, you’ll find out STEM is being unleashed on our babies, how ‘blended learning’ and PBLs (Problem Based Learning) is to shift education’s responsibility from teacher to student as a force tactic, future trends for K-20 education (kindergarten to 4 year college degree or similar), service based education (as in grooming the ‘collective, global citizens’), computer games as science teachers, multi-pronged distance education, how the Europeans are educating in these ways, open source lectures (coding classes will tie in here), and, more. (*Note in the beginning pages the number of American Universities.)

A 2014 Oregon State University Blender Camp brochure. Warriors, it will show you how ‘blending art’ and STEM fit into the classrooms.

A Blender Foundation “STEM in the Classroom” example. It’s called “Teach STEM Now”.

Interestingly enough, Betsy DeVos and Ivanka Trump just promoted more girls to STEM in the Smithsonian Museum, 7/25/17. They teamed up back in March 2017 to do much the same. (*Note: Not so funny, one of the UN’s SDGs is promoting women in education, especially STEM.)

IGI Global has a Pearson Publishing assessment available for a price. Check it out.

Last Stop, North Carolina:

Warriors, as you know I’ve shared with you how sold out to the CCSS Machine, NC is. Living here has given me the opportunity to show you things to watch for. Look below. One of the NC legislators is bragging on how ‘we’ will be the first in the nation for state-wide classroom internet access. Remember, ESSA’s mandates in technology include such. Way to align, NC.

Access the “Economist” article and you’ll literally read the beginning words with the name of B.F. Skinner, quickly followed by Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg.

Closing:

The long road of reform to a global education is fully in the works. Warriors, let’s get busy!

Education’s “Cooked Goose”

Warriors, we know education in America can be considered a ‘hot mess’. The state of education in the ESSA Era (Every Student Succeeds Act) could also be referred to as a ‘train wreck’.

For this article, I chose ‘cooked goose’. Why? It’s meaning as a phrase expresses spoiling plans; ruining someone’s opportunities. In other words, succeeding won’t happen.

Warriors, plainly stated, ESSA will NOT give our student success at what THEY want. It is designed to link itself to the WIOA, STEM Act, HEA, and all other related workforce/education laws. (*WIOA: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math; HEA: Higher Education Act)

Before we point the finger exclusively to Washington, D.C.; we must point it back to the CCSS Machine and it’s association to UNESCO.
************************************************************************************
Yes, before Bill Gates signed that ‘one curriculum for every child’ agreement (2004), there was the UNESCO publication called the International Classification of Standards.
************************************************************************************
The document was used as a basis for a presentation in 2009 by a team of ‘education experts’. Sutton and Golder. What was the point of this team in using a 1997 document?
***********************************************************************************
It was the same thing which prompted Gates to sign his agreement:

By Aligning TECHNOLOGY in EDUCATION, More ALIGNMENT in LIFE

For where’s there technology, there’s data. Where there’s data, there’s money to be made.
Quality education? Left by the wayside, Warriors.
************************************************************************************

Who Are Sutton and Golder?

Dr. Staurt Sutton is from the University of Washington at Seattle
Diny Golder
(aka: Diny Golder-Dardis) is a co-founder of P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) She is also key to JES and Company.
(*Note: the embedded link for Golder is to a 2003 Symposium paper about increasing technology. You’ll see her roles in both capacities mentioned. You’ll also see the U.S. Dept. of Education’s involvement. You’ll also be directed to some external links about the CEO Forum. I was unsuccessful accessing these. However, I did find a 2001 publication by the CEO Forum. It’s cover states it all.)

CEO

Back to Sutton and Golder’s involvement:
Together this team produced 3 white papers together. All 3 were based on increasing technology in our classrooms; for teachers and students. They wrote these 3 papers for the ASN (Achievement Standards Network).

If you’ve not heard of the ASN, it was created by Golder and Sutton with grant money (2 grants) awarded them by the NSF (National Science Foundation), under the JES and Company’s name.

NSF is the group which created the acroynm “STEM” for marketing purposes in education. STEM is a tool used by the UNESCO for pushing the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in education.

Helping expand the ASN was a generous Gates grant award in 2012 to JES and Co.

In 2013, my dear anti CCSS Warrior friend, Donna Garner, published an article tying ASN, Jes and Co. to the CSCOPE (TX’s supposedly not-CCSS educational framework and standards) and the EdGate organization.

donnawork
************************************************************

ASN is now owned by D2L. D2L was founded in 1999 by John Baker of Canada. Today, D2L has some of the biggest CCSS Machine members as partners. Their ‘job’? Tying more technology and education together.)

Other Sutton and Goldar Work:

In 2008, it was a paper on matching education resources to education standards for all the grade levels between K and 12th grade. This document appears to be for the National Science Digital Library. It’s about how to use metadata.
In 2009, it was all about discovering concepts in education via learning objectives. It is in this document they base their findings and solutions off of the 1997 UNESCO Report. (*Note: the 2010 paper they wrote was for Australia’s curriculum and configuring it to RDFs).

SuttonGolderUN
UNESCO:

The 1997 Standards document was updated, just 2 years later (1999). It is in this one where you’ll begin to see the UIS (UNESCO Institute for Statistics) begin to surface.

STATISTICS means DATA; DATA needs MINING to be put into STATISTICS.
*********************************************************************************
Look at the way it’s portrayed on the website:

undata

Look at the reality of data ‘transformation’:

UNdatatrack

Warriors, why would I use ‘track’? Think about it, the technology increases in American classrooms are designed to track progress; to measure mental abilities. These results are then used to track the courses/classess and eventual careers. ESSA, WIOA, and HEA embed it. STEM increases it! There’s another reason I chose the word ‘track’:

pressureon
Warriors, ‘technical’ means technology use, which we know is data. We also know, that technology is part of ‘innovation’. Innovation has been used as a tool to update ‘infrastructure’. Education is being used as a tool to pump up jobs and the economy.

Do we see ANYWHERE in these contrived plots: a child’s desire to become what THEY want? Do we see anywhere how teachers can TEACH without conformity?! NO!

Education’s goose has been royally cooked!

I urge you to read the information from the above screen shot here. It will lay out the indicators by which our students and teachers will be aligned to. It will explain how this data is to be used, and include the GAML (Global Alliance to Monitor Learning). The GAML is doing its own ‘cooking geese’ with assessments and data mining.

Warriors, remember, the SDGs are all to be in place by 2030.

Tying This Back To The American Push for Technology/Data:

Warriors, the way ESSA is written, an huge increase in technology, data mining is in the works. It is because of the foundational shift created in part, by folks like Sutton and Goldar, that we are so far down the path to comply with the U.N.
Sutton and Goldar are hardly alone. We know the CCSS Machine has been infiltrating companies, legislators, and everywhere in between to force us to assimilate into the overall plan to ruin education.

One of the biggest data mining tools which unites education and jobs, here in America are the SLDS and the WQDI (Student Longitudinal Data System and Workforce Quality Data Initiative). These track your student (regardless of their educational choice) from the classroom to their careers…and beyond.

First of Its Kind

Warriors Against Fed Ed, Common Core, and, Global Education’s takeover in America, we find ourselves approaching the end of June 2017. As I said earlier in the year, summer would not be a time the CCSS Machine would slow down its continual grinding down of education.

To that end, a CCSS/Global Ed laced Conference is just getting started. It’s the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) 2017 Conference. It’s meeting in Texas. Late Sunday afternoon, #ISTE and #GlobalEd17 were trending topics on Twitter.
The proganda was digusting. The painted on smiles of those attending and leading were deceiving.  Be sure to check all the latest ‘news’ out.

As I also stated earlier in the year, the summer is the ideal time for us Warriors to continue to arm ourselves with information to be ready for action when the new school year begins. The War Vs. the Core is NOT over, not by a long stretch.

Briefly, ISTE’s Connection To Global Education:

Warriors, back in 2015, I shared with you, an article titled “Tech Thursday: Global Day for Education”. It was the first time I’d run across ISTE. Quickly, just think “Microsoft” (and we know who THAT leads us to). Microsoft is the main sponsor of ISTE. Does it align the standards for technology in the classrooms to the dreaded CCSS (Common Core State Standards)? Absolutely. Does the ISTE apply its alignment to the re-branded names of CCSS, certainly! Where there’s international data, there’s got to be international data mining. That too, has an annual conference. Here’s an article where you can see the plethora of workshops devoted to harvesting education information.

Because technology is global, we know data created by technology is also global. However, the connections to global education and technology, which are very disturbing, (CCSS Machine propaganda uses ‘disruptive’) are the cultural mindset shifts hiding behind all those neat sounding apps and computer programs.

For example, from the article I’ve linked above, is a screen shot (below) where you ‘ll see the ‘global’ pledge. This pledge is used by all kinds of education related groups.

hardagon
With international technology comes the need for global education days. At least that’s what Harvard University and the others involved in the Global Education Conference Network believe. You can find out more about the Network in the article I’ve linked you to to learn more about the ISTE. You’ll also see how the AFT (American Federation of Teachers) is connected. (*Note: both the NEA (National Education Association and AFT) have ‘bought’ into the Education International, an organization with ties to UNESCO (you know, an arm of the United Nations. UNESCO is also known for it’s “Education for All” Program.) You can find out more about this, here.

Related: One of my most in-depth global education articles can be accessed here. It is from earlier this year and jam packed with information you can use to ready yourselves for the 2017-18 school year. (*Note: global education is present in all educaiton choices and will continue to seek out ways in which to lessen those choices until there is no choice at all. ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act, is a great example for reducing school choices, not increasing them.)

ISTE 2017 and Global2017:

Warriors, since the ISTE Conference is technology based, you know the latest and most aligned resources will be available to you, even if you can’t make it to TX. Here’s the schedule, with embedded links
Wait, is there a separate Global Ed 2017 Conference at the same location?
From what I can find, no; the global education is part of the ISTE Conference. How? The location is the same.  See below:

isteglobal17

Warriors, you can sign up for free to access all the Global Education Network resources (you’ll want to see the Google classroom items, the lists of global organizations, the resources and those who’ve written them (I saw Steve Hardagon’s name pop up).

How to access all this? Visit this website, click on ‘visit’. Sign in (you can use your Facebook, Google Plus, or email if you don’t have an Iparticipate i.d.) Notice at the bottom of the page, that the P21, Inc (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) is a sponsor.
Access this list of global education organizations and people on Twitter. Even if you do no ‘tweet’ you can still find out about this CCSS Machine global members.

Why access all this? After all, it’s from the CCSS Machine. Warriors, if we are to be armed with the latest information, especially when it comes to technology and data mining, we must ‘hang out’ among the creators. Since so many of our schools are leaving parents, grandparents, and taxpayers in the dark, any advantage we can gain by seeing what the CCSS Machine is doing, is needed.

First Isn’t Always Best:

So far, Warriors, I’ve not said anything which relates to the title of this article. What is ‘first of its kind’? In the push for global technology, these two examples I want to leave you with. Ask yourselves, is this being planned for my school district? Is this where my tax dollars are going? Am I okay with the continued misuse of money to not educate students, but, to indoctrinate them?

Digital Portfolios may NOT be brand new, but a school district in AL is featured among the ISTE resources (and global education) for its first of its kind update. What’s the update? “Whole Story for the Whole Child”. This is about 30 minutes of video.

By giving the students a computer, showing them how to use it to lay out their lives, this portfolio COULD be used for other purposes. Such as, at the 3:25 mark (or just after it) a high school teacher reveals just ONE of the ‘other’ purposes: a track to see where each student needs to round themselves out for “college and career readiness”! (If you are new to the War vs Common Core, ‘College and Career Ready” is a re-branded name for the same thing.)

You’ll also have the person in charge of the federal funding for this AL school district explain how to start digital portfolios in your area. She will tell you that as school leaders implementing this you’ll WANT to look into each student’s personal life as well as their academic ‘lives’. Watch for the grade levels involved and the end result. (hint: by the times the students get to colleges, not enough is known about them)
Here is the website’s banner from the school district featured:

Warriors, so much of global education and technolgy involves STEM (Science, Engineering, and Math), but they also include STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math).

Both STEM and STEAM are not American. STEM is the marketing name dreamed up by the NSF (National Science Foundation) to incorporate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. STEM and CCSS go hand in hand. STEM was introduced about the time the CCSS was rolled out. Common Core was the distraction; STEM was the real agenda for education. It’s all been researched and documented.  As far as STEAM, it too, is not American. It’s roots are from South Korea and brought to the US. If you’ve missed these facts, please find them here.

This leads me to another ‘first of its kind’ and in the nation. This time we’ll find it in TN.

dailysteam

Full article  (*Note: this was back in 2016). Warriors, notice the underlined portions of this published article. K-12 grades; Arts Innovation Zone, PBL(Project Based Learning) daily on STEAM. Do we have any idea how one-dimensional this is going to be for our littlest ones? Sure, the CCSS Machine talks it up that all kinds of engaging education will happen with STEAM, but every day?! True education honors that while engaging needs to happen, so does some down-time. So what’s happened to this one-of-a-kind school since 2016? A big dollar donation from a private company to go to a public school; the hope that those big bucks will prove STEAM can work for both inner city schools and rural schools. See the article here.

Closing:

Warriors, the bottom line to all the ISTE/global ed dribble is this:
“Learning without limits” will get us farther in education than ever before. Yeah, right…

Credentialed Transcripts?

cementblock
The modern education transformation is treating our students like blocks of ‘stackable credentials’, not humans!

‘Tech Thursday’ is the day I usually focus on the overreach in education to the post-secondary level. Today is no exception. If you have followed me for a while, you know I have consistently laid out the evidence and resources so you can follow the CCSS Machine’s march from high school and beyond.

So what can I share with you today?  A look inside the transcripts-turned-credentials for our students under the guise of quality education.

Parchment Transcript Services (PTS):

I first heard of PTS, from a dedicated anti CCSS Warrior who is doing much work to protect student data. We know how much is collected, shared, sold, and used against our students, so naturally finding a school (or State) which uses PTS is worth knowing more about.
The website: http://www.parchment.com/
The advertised mission: “Parchment’s mission is to turn credentials into opportunities.  We help learners, educators, associations and employers securely send and receive education credentials online, in simple and insightful ways.”
The zippy 2 minute sales pitch:

Did you notice how hidden in plain sight the data mining is? Did you see who shares it, has access to it? Did you notice the use of the fallacy tactic known as ‘Bandwagon’? (bandwagon is where you are enticing to do what everyone else is doing so you don’t miss out) Something tells me there is much more to find out about!

The Folks in Charge:

CEO, Dr. Matthew Pittinsky is certainly connected to the CCSS Machine. How can I know this before we even go any further? Two clues: Blackboard and ASU (AZ State University) I have written before about both. To see what else he is doing connected to the transformation of post-secondary education: http://www.parchment.com/matthew-pittinsky/
(*Note: his short video reveals how he feels about data mining.)

Other Leading members include former members of other CCSS Machine member organizations, like Learn.com; there are other former Blackboard personnel; non-profit education advocacy; former military; Honeywell; ISU (Iowa State University); and global education IT (information technology.)

Parchment Partners:

Since Parchment deals with student data, we need to know who they work with in the sharing. Two of the biggest CCSS Machine members which jumped of the page? Herff Jones and Pearson Power School! There are others, as well. See all the partners:
http://www.parchment.com/partners-and-associations/

While Pearson’s membership in the CCSS Machine is known extensively, I will share with you how Herff Jones is also a member.

Most folks think of high school class rings and high school yearbooks when they hear Herff Jones, but the company is more embedded than you know. See:
http://www.socialstudies.com/pdf/CommonCore_SS.pdf (look for footnotes #5, 8, and 9)

From the  Herff Jones yearbook information, this excerpt, “It’s easy to see how yearbook aligns with the Common Core’s emphasis on research, reflection and revision, and the four C’s touted by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity) are naturally a part of the yearbook process. Talk about cross-disciplinary learning!”

How the Service Works on a Local Level:

From the parent of a Senior (Class of 2016), this personal account. “Seniors are required to state what college or university they will attend. All final transcripts will be sent electronically through Parchment. You must sign up via their website before graduation. After graduation, you will be charged $8.50 per transcript. My student must contact their Career Center Counselor/Office for more information.” This parent goes on to share that the Parchment presence in school is a school district promoted decision. Supposedly the only data collected isn’t too personal, but we Warriors know ANY data about our students is up for grabs! Parchment’s service also has you answer on-line questions for specific schools you might want to attend to see IF you can become a qualified applicant.

What I found out about the transcripts is that each is given a unique code (DID or Document Identity Number). For students to access or verify if their information has been transmitted or received, they must use that DID. Hmm.. think UID (Unique Identifier Number) currently used for all those assessments your students think. We have evidence how ‘secure’ those are! If you would like to know, Parchment stands by the FERPA policies (again, we know how FERPA was weakened to allow MORE data mining!) Check out all their related topics:
 http://support.parchment.com/link/portal/30029/30032/ArticleFolder/171/FERPA-security-privacy

Parchment’s latest Press Release shares more about the data collection/sharing. This particular Release details the State of Georgia’s partnership:
Parchment, a leading academic credential management service, works with more than 65 high schools and 72 college admissions offices across Georgia to create a robust network that helps to simplify the college application process for Georgia learners. By delivering and processing electronic credentials with Parchment, member schools are breaking down barriers in the college access process. For more than a decade, Parchment has worked with high schools and colleges across the United States to aid in the application process, making academic credentials, like high school transcripts, digital, often resulting in more timely admissions decisions. Schools in Georgia have already begun to improve efficiencies, provide transparency to learners and reduce overall costs by partnering with Parchment, following the success many other states have long used to their advantage. In 2015, Georgia high schools relied on Parchment to exchange more than 41,000 digital credentials, an increase of 48 percent over the previous year. Parchment has enabled our students and parents to expedite the college application process by sending transcripts electronically to almost any school across the nation,” said Tessa Barbazon, Coordinator, Office of School Counseling with Fulton County School District. “In addition, the tracking tools available to students through Parchment fill a gap in communication that can exist when less advanced services are utilized.” The Fulton County School District is comprised of 18 high schools with 94,000 students.” (see the entire Press Release: http://www.parchment.com/press-releases/parchment-provides-georgia-students-with-improved-college-access/)

To read Parchment’s Privacy Policy, see: http://www.parchment.com/privacy-policy/
While all looks secure, there are a few things to note:
1) Parchment sends you information they think you want based on how you answered those qualifying questions.
2) Data is shared with ANY partner or group designated as an Academic Institution. While this may look like it means schools, remember the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) and the current version of the HEA (Higher Education Act) include the academic institutions in a much broader context. (*Note: the current HEA even embeds the use of Digital Promise as the  data collection method on all students. Also, the ESSA has Digital Promise funding INCREASED embedded in the language.)
3) Note the Asset Transfer clause. Even your parents information about finances is up for all to see (or at least whomever Parchment deems worthy of knowing.)

 Closing:

I thank the parent who shared their story. Our anti CCSS War Against the Core, is made so much stronger when these brave men and women speak up. I hope this information has caused you to question much when it comes to the transformed high school to post-secondary school state we find ourselves in. While we must champion our students data (and ours as well). we must investigate every company we can. Since it appears the school districts are promoting and choosing this, make sure you let your district know your concerns!

FTF: A Chip off The Education Block

Sure, you've heard of private schools, but have you heard of 'micro' schools?!
Sure, you’ve heard of private schools, but have you heard of ‘micro’ schools?!

Anti CCSS Warriors, we have another education reform ‘wannabe’. Consider it a chip off the old CCSS Machine’s block.. What AM I talking about?! “Micro Schools”, of course! If you haven’t heard of them, that’s okay, I recently discovered these schools, too.
One other question we will address is how this ties back to the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act).

So, What is a ‘Micro School’?

I found out about them via the Gates Foundation supportive, CCSS Machine member: Ed Week. (See: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2016/01/27/micro-schools-could-be-new-competition-for.html?r=608439843&cmp=eml-enl-eu-news1-RM)

Like its name, these schools are small in size (typically no more than an entire school population of 150). Unlike traditional schools, micros have all the students in one classroom.  While the article suggests these schools are like the old-fashioned one room schoolhouses, there is absolutely NOTHING old fashioned about the agenda behind these small schools. As an anti CCSS Warrior, see if you can catch the agenda the CCSS Machine has laced through these modern minis.

AltSchools, the Supposed Leader in Micro Schools:

This group is mentioned in the article I have linked you to (above). You can access their website, https://www.altschool.com/
From their ‘About Us’ page, their mission statement begins with, ” AltSchool is a collaborative community of micro-schools that uses outstanding teachers, deep research, and innovative tools to offer a personalized, whole child learning experience for the next generation.”
(*Note, be sure to watch the embedded video with the smiley faced guy.)
You should love the fact he is a businessman now involved in education. While that doesn’t seem so bad, listen to his pro CCSS companies he rattles off. (example: Google) Don’t miss his plug for project based learning (which is rooted in another progressive, pro CCSS Machine member, The Buck Institute. (my previously published look at PBLs:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/sic-em-saturday-ccss-progressives-and-pbls/ )

Currently, AltSchools are in CA, NY, IL. To see the AltSchool locations in their entirety,
https://www.altschool.com/about-us#our-parents
(*Note, be sure to click on one of the existing locations to look at the floor plan. You will see what many other traditional schools are doing, totally transforming them to be open locations with centers.)

The curriculum? Forget about seeing your student as a person, this group is after “T-shaped learners”.  What the heck is a “T-shaped learner”? An excerpt, “…Students who have a wide breadth of knowledge across all subjects and depth in the subjects that they are passionate about. In addition to cultivating strong social-emotional skills, AltSchool students build competency across core academic areas: math, science, English language arts, and social studies. Through our before- and after-school co-curricular offerings, students delve even deeper into subjects of interest, including drama, arts, coding, and foreign languages.”
The educators? All 21st Century ones. See the entire description of both curriculum and educators, https://www.altschool.com/education#curriculum
(*Note: the heavy use of technology and the reference to aligning to the most recent education discoveries.)
From the FAQs, this loaded statement of CCSS Machine groups in the curriculum:
‘AltSchool’s learning objectives draw from a variety of standards and metrics as a framework for instructional design. Our Lower and Middle School instruction is informed by the Common Core, National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Next Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), among others.’

Helping fund AltSchools? Facebook and Apple owners! Yep,  these two pro CCSS Machine members even made the news about their investments. See: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/05/04/altschool-scores-100-million-from-mark-zuckerberg-and-others/26740867/
(*Note: be sure to read where the AltSchool founder reveals that there are non-profits and other investors on board as well.)

Other financial backers? “Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, Harrison Metal, John Doerr, Jonathan Sackler, Learn Capital, Omidyar Network, and other leading investors.” To learn more about why these investors are lining up in huge support of AltSchools, you will need to see the AltSchools Press Release from 2014. It explains that the schools are a ‘certified B organization’. What does THAT mean? Heavy on social justice issues with a large collective mindset. See the entire press release: https://www.altschool.com/press-release-11-17-14

Want to better understand what a B Organization truly is? As an anti CCSS Warrior, you will be quick to pick up on the main themes, the global aspects, and the money to be made.

New Orleans, TX, and Globally: Micros Coming Soon!

Also included in the featured EdWeek article about AltSchools, were the facts that New Orleans public charters are considering the AltSchool way of education; that at least one private school in TX is already involved (since 2009); that  Catholic schools could be well served; how  comprehensive high schools could learn from AltSchools; and, that several non-USA locations are benefiting from AltSchools.
Warriors Against the Core
, are you seeing the pattern?

Not included in the NAIS:

AltSchools, according to the EdWeek article are not being tracked by the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools), so there may be many MORE micro schools in the world. However, my question is, are AltSchools accredited at all? One CBS interview from 2015, reveals the groups is in the process of becoming accredited. See: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/altschool-alternative-education/
Anti CCSS Warriors, do you recognize an issue here?

As Far as How This Plays into the ESSA:

Besides the red flags I have recently raised about the ESSA and technology/data/digital, the AltSchools have all sorts of CCSS Machine ties to overlook or assume they won’t be part of the ESSA written educational future in America. All this said, the AltSchools are considered ‘alternative education’. That phrase is most definitely used in the ESSA.

Tech Thursday: Technically Speaking for CCSS

Last night, I had the honor of speaking out against Common Core and the ‘CCSS Machine’ as I call it. In today’s “Tech Thursday”, I will share the details so you discover for yourselves, just how broadly the all-encompassing education reform (illegally based) has progressed.

Technically Speaking, A Bit if Background:

When I was invited to join last night’s phone call, I asked my hostess what the topic was to be so I could prepare. The topic, she said, would be to tie in how the most recent shooting in OR,  not only Common Core, but the overall mental damage our educational system has wrought upon our schools. My part of the conversation was to see where Common Core, communities, mental health, and gun control intersected.

My first connection between all of the above came with my “Project Aware” article (published in Dec. 2014) In that article, you can find how much gun control plays into Project Aware. It ties the SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Heath Services Administration) to the President’s gun control policies presented to America just after the Sandy Hook School shootings. The Report details how much data mining throughout your communities will be carried out by Local Education Agencies(LEAs)and SEAs (State Educational Agencies), it will reveal how teachers are to become mental health minions; how any other adult involved in education will also become aligned. Access to this article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/14/rmt-sunday-beware-of-project-aware/
To see just how aligned your school counselors (one of those ‘other; educational personnel included in the alignment, see my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/fridays-post-breaking-news-you-need-to-know/ (*NOTE: this article reveals another Presidential initiative being carried out in the name of educational alignment to the CCSS Machine.)

To access the Presidential Report from 2013, be sure to click on the embedded link ion the “Project Aware” article.

Bottom line technical detail: With this much effort (trust me, this is just a glimpse) put into aligning our educational leaders to the overall CCSS agenda, it’s no wonder education is in trouble. CCSS is breeding compliance.

Technically speaking, The Mental Health:

Okay, so we have the foundation, which is ‘compliance’. We all know that to be compliant, our thinking, our beliefs have to undergo big transformations. Our mental health plays into the CCSS Machine’s agenda beautifully. Think of all the research my fellow anti CCSS warriors have produced, especially Anita Hoge. This article should be of great help to you:
http://www.newswithviews.com/Hoge/anita117.htm
(*NOTE: In this article she shares how the upcoming re-authorizations of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) will advance the mental health power grab of our students.

That’s not the only source available to you as anti CCSS warriors. However. let’s move on to more technically speaking aspects of the mental health moves being made.

While getting my resources together for last night’s call, I was on Twitter about the time Bill Gates’ big educational speech was on. I was still sharing anti CCSS information with everyone, when I noticed some of the tweets and retweets surrounding this ‘big’ speech. Ones like below:
Mrs. Gates was sharing with all how social issues/social, emotional learning are just as vital to education & its reformation. The Ed & Workforce Democrats were stating early childhood is their focus at the moment because, as early as 9 months old, achievement gaps can be found! Head Start joined in the Gates speech with the words of we don’t enroll just the child, we enroll the family; citywide data collection and data sharing and using Detroit as a shining example. So, this got my attention. What else has Head Start done in the name of educational reform? Below is just one of the things I discovered:

Early Childhood Development Training and Technical Assistant Centers
Early Childhood Development Training and Technical Assistant Centers

What you see above is a program already in place for birth to 13 years of age! If you aren’t familiar with Head Start, it’s part of the U. S. Dept of Health and Human Services (one of the 3 main federal level departments involved in aligning education. Working with HHS are the U. S. Depts of Education and Labor) What this image shows us is another top down (federal to state to local) overreach. It shows us where our tax dollars are being used. It shows us how communities are being aligned right under our noses. If you look deep enough into these new centers, you can find pro CCSS funding groups like WestED; you can find international digital and data collectors like ICF International (where one of the main education consultants is a pro CCSS contributor*) You can also find the CCSS/CTE aligned Zero to Three program involved. How do I know the Zero to Three is pro CCSS/CTE? In my research. Here’s the original article I wrote:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/07/04/sic-em-saturday-pint-sized-common-core/  From this article, you can learn how Head Start, Bill Gates, Jeb Bush, and others are backing education reform to impact our youngest students. The American Association of Pediatrics is even helping out! You’ll also learn how the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) is involved for the purpose of total community alignment.

To learn more about the Head Start Centers,

To see the community alignment where P21 is contributing to all this,
 http://www.expandinglearning.org/expandingminds/article/upgrading-afterschool-common-sense-shifts-expanded-learning-digital-age

Bottom line technical detail: When you look at the language of the Student Success Act (HR5), the Every Child Achieves Act (S1177), and the upcoming bills which will impact higher education, mental health is most definitely being used against us with the goal of re-ordering how we feel, think, and, what we believe.

Technically Speaking, CCSS and Gun Control:

You have a foundation of compliance, a layer of mental health re-ordering for all involved, so where do the guns factor in? Think about all we’ve heard and seen in the homework examples where our Constitution is re-written. Consider the other social issues which have crept into our classrooms with rapid speed. Gun control is definitely in the mix. Here is the evidence of CCSS aligned lessons concerning guns.

ccssgun

To see this resource for yourselves, http://ww2.kqed.org/lowdown/wp-content/uploads/sites/26/2013/05/guncontrol_guide_final2.pdf
One noteworthy thing, the first ‘guided question’ doesn’t refer to the U. S. Constitution, instead, ‘rules and guidelines created over 200 years ago’.

Are there other resources for CCSS and the Second Amendment? Sure there are. Just conduct a general internet search for ‘Common Core gun control’ or “CCSS gun control”.
Think about how distorted CCSS is making every subject it touches. Consider that while the CCSS in our lives is illegally based (breaches the 10th Amendment, breaks at least educational laws), we’re seeing policies watered down, legislation created to support the CCSS Machine..not end it!

Bottom line technical detail: CCSS, by reshaping what is taught, what is to be believed, is killing our schools. It’s rendering them as workforce training centers, not academic learning centers. I urge you to look further into the mental health parts of the CCSS Machine’s agenda. Research Anita’s work, find Robin Eubanks‘ writing; listen to Charlotte Iserbyt, use the Women on the Wall calls, like last week’s:  https://soundcloud.com/alice-linahan/women-on-the-wall-conference-call-canisee-what-you-are-teaching-my-child-curriculum-audit (*Note: as soon as last night’s call is posted, I will be sure to add it in the comments section of this article)

Friday Special Post: Part 3 STEM to STEAM, Ties to CCSS

Many websites claim STEAM picked up speed recently, however, as with anything connected to CCSS, there's more to the story.
Many websites claim STEAM picked up speed recently, however, as with anything connected to CCSS, there’s more to the story.

For the final installment of the STEM to STEAM, Ties to Common Core article, we’ll look at just how far back this all started and contrast it with the headlines of our modern education reform.

If you click on the above graphic, how many of you will be able to spot the 16 Career Clusters that are the fiber of Career and Technical  Education? This is just one of the ways CCSS is interwoven into STEM and now STEAM. In the past two portions of this special report for your battle against CCSS, you’ve been provided with FACTS, not fallacies about STEM, STEAM, and Common Core. Make no mistake, those seeking to overall education in America, have wasted no time, energy, or resource to do it. That we, the warriors, are finding the evidence to expose the overreach, is worth sharing. It is only then that we can fight this battle with TRUTH, not assumptions. We’ll pick our STEM to STEAM report up with where I left you yesterday: that the STEAM movement isn’t new at all.

Travel Back to 2010:

If you recall that PCAST report featured in Part 1 also had a 2010 publication date. In Part 2, we saw that 2014 was a year for the STEM to STEAM movement to be announced. So, what happened in between the PCAST (STEM is embedded into CCSS) and the Washington, D.C. briefing you saw in Part 2?

From a June 2010 “Arts and Education” presentation, given by private businessman (Harvey P. White), the following summary was shared on slide #12 of his Power Point Presentation. (*Note: Mr. White was not an educator):
“We all agree that the USA must innovate to remain one of the world’s leading economies. We must equip ourselves with the best and most complete set of skills to be competitive. A continued high degree of competency in science, technology, engineering and mathematics is an essential element of such a set of skills. We will find increasing competition in this arena and we need to reinstate a level of creativity to augment this technical competency that has been lost by budget concerns. We need to create a national understanding this loss will become a huge economic mistake, especially as our ability to compete in the manufacturing and many service sectors declines. We must lead the effort to make sure there is an understanding that including the Arts in the curricula of all schools at all levels in not just a nice thing to do but an economic necessity. For the future of our nation and to maintain the prosperity and current life style for the generations to follow us we need to act now.”  Who is Mr. Harvey P. White? Great question. He’s a CEO of a corporation named (SHW)2 Enterprises. If that doesn’t ring a bell, that’s okay, I didn’t recognize it either. However, what you need to know is it’s an independent business consulting firm. Mr. White also serves on several technology company boards, helps digital technology start ups, and more. To see his biography, http://steam-notstem.com/about/biography/
(*Note: when you read Mr. White’s bio, be sure to notice the comment section. Note the number of pro STEM to STEAM efforts, the pro CCSS groups, and the dates of publication.)
I encourage you to see his entire presentation. In it you’ll find many more politically driven agenda points about education reform. See: Arts-and-Education-FULL-WEBINAR

In 2011, A Congressional Resolution:

While not successful in passing, the U.S.Congress did entertain a STEM to STEAM resolution. June 21st, H. Resolution 319. The Rhode Island School of Design worked with the Congress member on this resolution. (more about them in a bit) See: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hres319/text
(*Note: be sure to note where art was to be inserted into STEM..via the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act)

In 2012, A Revelation Appears:

A report prepared for Congress details STEM funding. It’s an in-depth analysis. In the introductory pages you’ll read how Congress has been interested in STEM since the very first Congress; how vital STEM is to our workforce. Sounds familiar, right? Well, here’s a new one for you. In this report, we need STEM so our national security can remain instrumental. You’ll also learn that because STEM is such a key to the nation, it’s now a priority. So much so, that billions of dollars have been devoted to it. Over 250 STEM or STEM related entities spread across 13 different federal agencies. Of those 13, 3 share the bulk of STEM items. (The U.S. Dept. of Ed, the Dept. of Health and Human Services, and the National Science Foundation). This report will detail how and where funding for anything STEM related has been inserted. See: STEManalysis

In 2013, A New Resolve:

Not content to let STEM or the insertion of the Arts into the aligned mix, a new resolution was introduced in Congress. Be sure to note which Congress members were involved this time. The name of one of them was featured in the You Tube video provided in Part 2 of this series. Compare this Resolution H 51 to the H319. What differences do you see?
Refer to: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c113:H.RES.51: Involved again in this new effort? The Rhode Island School of Design. While the Rhode Island School of Design is credited with championing The STEM to STEAM Initiative, they aren’t the creators of STEAM. (Here’s an excerpt from their website:
“STEM to STEAM is a RISD-led initiative to add Art and Design to the national agenda of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education and research in America. STEM + Art = STEAM. The goal is to foster the true innovation that comes with combining the mind of a scientist or technologist with that of an artist or designer.” Contrast that with the STEM to STEAM Caucus (created in 2013) See: http://stemtosteam.org/events/congressional-steam-caucus/

A Step Back to the STEAM’s Beginning:

So, we know STEM has been around a long time. We know the NSF has the bulk of control and power in anything STEM related.  We know the modern push to embed STEM into our daily lives was found in that 2010 document from Part 1 of this series. We’ve been able to connect everything back to Common Core EXCEPT STEAM, or have we? So far, we’ve not known much about its origin. Allow me to introduce a much celebrated educator who is receiving credit for STEAM’s inception.

A lady by the name of Georgette Yakman is receiving credit for her educational framework. That’s her brightly colored triangle you see above. Ms. Yakman’s research took place at Virginia Tech. Her STEAM framework was implemented in 2007. In 2013, she wrote a paper and published which directly ties STEAM to Common Core. In the paper, a PreK to grad school (aka: P20) STEAM plan is laid out. Here’s an excerpt, “STEAM is proving successful in schools all around the world to better teach academic and life skills in a standards-backed, realistic-based, personally relevant exploratory learning environment. It is adaptable, strong, benchmarked, measurable, and reinforces NCLB and state standards and integrates with the Common Core in unique and engaging ways.”  You’ll find out even more when you read the rest of her paper.

Closing:

I’d like to thank you for hanging with me through all the twists and turns this 3 part expose has taken us. There is much within these 3 portions to use in learning more about the ties between STEM, STEAM, and Common Core. There is much to share, especially with our legislators at the state level. If you’re desiring an education without CCSS involved, you now know to look at state funding for STEM, STEAM items. You can connect the dots in line item budgets. Ridding ourselves of Common Core means we must address ALL the places it is hiding. I hope you’ve found all this information to be helpful.

Monday Musings: Learning for Whom?!

Have you heard of this group? They've got your school's data.
Have you heard of this group? They’ve got your school’s data.

We all know that the CCSS Machine is sparing no expense to grab onto our student’s personal information, today’s post will highlight this particular company’s foray into the educational world.

What “Learn Sprout’s” All About:

According to their website, they are here to help us all with school data. That’s one thing because, in these times, data is rather abundant. Where we anti CCSS warriors are concerned is HOW that data is used; whom it is sold to or shared with; and other CCSS bonuses gained from possession of sensitive facts. If you look at the mission statement it seems fairly harmless, but we’ll be looking further into the company than simply its mission statement. “Our mission is to help K-12 educators use data to understand the past, analyze the present, and anticipate the future.”  Okay, not too informative, but its what companies and advisors “Learn Sprout” relies on that is the bigger concern to me as an anti Common Core warrior. For example, one of “Learn Sprout’s” is “Power School” as in Pearson Publishing’s data miner. Another “Code for America”. I’ve written quite a bit about the ties to coding (computer programming) and Common Core. Here’s the link for all those articles: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/?s=coding

“Code for America”:

So, in a nutshell can I tell you what “Code for America” is? Sure, I can! For instance, their 2011 Annual Report tagged the effort as ‘a new kind of public service’. If you look very closely at the report, you’ll begin to notice just how data is being harvested, where it’s been used, and what organizations are funding this. Common Core supporters such as “Google”, “Microsoft”, and the “Rockerfeller Foundation”, among others. Back in 2013, “Watchdog Wire” reported how the data mining, Common Core, and foundations such as Rockerfeller’s (and others) are making huge bucks off our kid’s data. See: http://watchdogwire.com/florida/2013/08/08/data-mining-using-common-core-cha-ching-cha-ching/ To access “Code for America’s” report: http://www.codeforamerica.org/2011-annual-report/2011_CfA_Report.pdf

While this may not sound so bad, consider this: one of the 5 kingpin agenda items for “CfA” is ‘changing people and practices’. See the screen shot below:

Back to “Learn Sprout”:

On the website (https://www.learnsprout.com/ews) you’ll find the false argument for ‘closing the skills gap’ that’s been so overused by the CCSS Machine. You’ll see how “LS” has an ‘early warning system” available for use in regards to the skills gap.
Excuse me, are we discussing students or weather systems here? I don’t need an early warning system for my school, I need care and concern for my students. Early warnings are more suited for impending weather emergencies and the like, but NOT people!! (*Note: Many researchers and/or publications have presented all kinds of evidence about the “skills gap”. If you conduct an internet search, you’ll find several credible articles which state those seeking to reform education have skewed the information to create a big mess. Business say education is to blame for the not-skilled-enough-workers; education counters with not-enough-jobs. It’s a mess.In the meantime, we, the warriors can easily get side-tracked about skills OR no skills..all the while the CCSS Machine churns on with its P3, public-private partnership overreach into our students lives. We MUST not be swayed!) You’ll also find the “College Readiness” can be at your disposal with the company. (see: https://www.learnsprout.com/product) The “CR” will take your student’s data and turns it into action items for their future. Wow…that’s a comfort for us as parents, isn’t it? NOT! My child’s performance data on assessments, etc.  shouldn’t be used against them! While the site claims to have honorable intentions, I can’t trust that when I know Pearson and others supporting CCSS are somehow involved. Their track records speak another message to me. As far as the student data, the LS company has a ‘snazzy video’ about transparency, but again, consider what companies LS partners with. Companies known to abuse student data. Here’s their video clip:

Notice, that throughout this website and all I’ve presented so far, you’ve not seen or heard Common Core. However, I’ve shown you ways in which LS is tied to CCSS. I’m not done yet……

Those 21st Century Tones:

Having researched so much about all that’s connected to CCSS, the undertones of so much 21st Century agenda got me a bit curious. Could Learn Sprout be a part of the P21 movement? Wait, what’s the P21? Oh, great question! P21 is short for “Partnership for 21st Century Skills”. I’ve written quite a few articles about just HOW P21 is devoted to Common Core. Here’s the link  to each of the articles: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/?s=p21 (*Note: you’ll really want to take the time to read each of these as there are many of the same ‘players’ in P21 as Code for America and/or Learning Sprouts). If you want to see which companies have aligned themselves to P21:
“Adobe Systems, Inc., American Association of School Librarians, Apple Inc., Cable in the Classroom, Cengage Learning, Cisco Systems, Inc., The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP), Crayola, Dell, Inc., EdLeader21, EF Education, Education Networks of America, Ford Motor Company Fund, GlobalScholar, Goddard Systems Inc., Hewlett Packard, Intel Corporation, Knovation, KnowledgeWorks Foundation, LEGO Group, Mosaica Education, National Academy Foundation, National Education Association, Pearson, Project Management Institute Educational Foundation, The Walt Disney Company, Wireless Generation, Verizon Foundation, and VIF International Education.” (To see the article from which this excerpt is from {details how P21 is behind Next Generation Science Standards},

FTF: CCSS ‘Pearsonites’, at Your Higher Ed Campuses Now!

Pearson and Starbucks..'pimping out' education one student at a time.
Pearson and Starbucks..’pimping out’ education one student at a time.

Common Core Warriors, have you taken a stand against some of the P3 (public, private partnerships) yet? I hope after today’s “From the File” Tuesday, you will!

The Club:

Over on Twitter, it’s the “Pearson Students”, especially their “AcedIt” campaign. (see the photo above)

On the Internet, it’s also “Pearson Students”..tag line, “Join Pearson and help build the future of higher education.” Website: http://www.pearsonstudents.com/ You can access all the other PS social media sites from this main page.

Turning Students to “Pearsonites”:

Before we delve too much into this information, look at the screen shot. The emphasis you see is mine to point out the subtle messages packed with punch.

Pearson is relentless is recruiting an army, it would appear.
Pearson is relentless is recruiting an army, it would appear.

Across America and Canada there are now 40 Pearsonites (actually their real title is Pearson Campus Ambassador). Responsibilities? Oh yes, interacting with the company, endorsing products, influencing others like you, and all the while, putting career tech education into motion. You’ll even get paid to do it.

Oh, the campuses? Why they are public AND private universities as well as  community colleges in CA, OR, MN, MI, OH, IL, MO, KS, TX, FL, GA, SC, TN, NC, and VA in the US. In Canada, you’ll find the Pearsonites in Ontario and British Columbia.

I feel I must point out that one of the VA Pearsonites is on the campus of Liberty University..you know, a private Christian college. But, as I’ve shared before even Christian schools are not exempt from CCSS. (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/05/fom-friday-christian-colleges-exempt-from-common-core-not/ ) To see the entire “Pearson Campus Ambassador” page/information: http://www.pearsonstudents.com/get-involved/campus-ambassador-program/index.html
Becoming a Pearson “Free Agent”:

What better way to utilize your subjects than by having them choose to be a free agent? No long term commitment to Pearson, the ability to be project based or work from home, all the while seeking information from your fellow campus buddies. Check out the promo video to entice you to sign up:

Be a STEM Pearsonite:

Maybe all of the previous Pearsonite opportunities aren’t to your liking, maybe being an intern for the CCSS profit maker is however. The company has a place for you there as well. What’s even more exciting is you can be a STEM Pearsonite, too!! Can’t get enough of Common Core? Need some STEM, Pearson covers you well!
Here’s their description of themselves, “Pearson is more than just the world’s leading learning company: we are a global organization revolutionizing both what and how people learn in and outside of the classroom.”

As a STEM Pearson Person you can data mine! You can test curriculum and assessments! You can influence social media for Pearson/STEM! Here’s a list of the cities where STEM Pearsonite are spreading their agenda:

  • Austin, TX
  • Bloomington West, MN
  • Boston, MA
  • Boulder, CO
  • Chandler, AZ
  • Centennial, CO
  • Columbus, OH

Oh, I almost forgot, as an intern you are handled by a Pearson Mentor…and more career path incentives, training, and alignment. Unlike the other positions for leading the masses to convert to Pearson-ology, this unique group is the leaders with strong skills. To find out more, be sure to use the above website address and look up at the top for the other categories I’ve shared, as well as learning about the other ‘opportunities’ Pearson has to sway your students.

Pearson’s Outreach “Mission”:

Not content with our Pre-K through 20 year olds, Pearson’s got a bead on all the adults. I’ve included a website address where you can see all the agenda-driven events that are either archived or coming up soon. You wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to be a possible Pearsonite, now would you?! See: http://www.pearsoned.com/events-and-webinars/higher-education-events-and-webinars/

Pearson’s College/Career Ready Disciples:

Since it’s “From the Files Tuesday” here on my blog, it wouldn’t be complete without a download to share. You’ll love this one. Need Funding? Let Pearson Guide Your School:

To round out a fine CCSS/STEM/CCR army, you’ve got to get the leaders in on it as well. Pearson doesn’t disappoint here, no sir, not at all! No matter if your school is Title 1 – 1 billion, Perkins to Workings, they’ve got your back (just watch for the knife). Here’s where their Grant Keepers can get your school the money:

  • Title I
  • Title II
  • Title III
  • IDEA
  • 21st Century Community Learning Centers
  • Head Start
  • School Improvement Grants
  • Carl D Perkins
  • School Climate Transformation

The Danger of 21st Century Community Learning Centers:
From the list above, be sure you pay especially close attention to the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. (If you’ve not heard, the 21stCCLCs are a ‘present’ to our nation from the likes of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. CCSSO, Council of Chief State School Officers is also working with other groups to get in on the action as well. The federal government is part of the process to.

Look into them, you’ll find the 21stCCLCs are what will replace our traditional schools systems..if all goes as they have planned. See: http://www.p21.org/ (for P21); To see all the results for the CCSSO’s plans and parts of 21st Century Community Learning Centers, see: http://ccsso.org/Search_Results.html?q=21st+century+community+learning+centers; the Federal Government’s role in 21stCCLCs? Oh, that’s another resource you’ll need in your state. See: http://21centurymultistateconference.org/ *(Note, be sure to look at the very bottom of the page to see how the ESEA factors into all this.)
Maybe the Policy Updates from the After School Alliance, will help you, see: http://www.afterschoolalliance.org/policyFedNewsArchive.cfm *(Note, be sure to see how Congress’s treatment of the budget factors in.)

If you’d like even more of a context in background about 21st CCLCs, be sure to use the search bar of my blog. Use ‘venture capitalists’, or “Silicon Valley” to access the articles and vast networking others are going to to rearrange how education is conducted in America. Lastly, if you’ve heard me speak out on Women on the Wall, you’ve heard me refer to the eerie “KnowledgeWorks” and their “Strive Together” Program.

Closing:

My warriors, do you see the picture here? Pearsonites doing Pearson’s bidding while marching to the agenda of those with plans to re-arrange our educational landscape. As we’ve known for quite some time the CCSS Machine is looming, it’s large, and it’s coming for our future leaders.
