Big City, Private Education

Warriors, I was recently contacted by a concerned Anti CCSS Warrior from a big city in Texas. My fellow Warrior lives in Houston. She also is involved in a faith-based private school. The photos she sent me have been troubling her. She wants to know when the shift from academics to workforce took over her church’s school.

Previously, Warriors, I’ve shared with you a few articles about the Catholic Church’s leap from academics to Common Core (or, as it is now called, ‘College and Career Readiness’ or “Challenging State Academic Standards” found in ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act). You also may remember how the private, faith-based schools are tied to a newer wave of education called ‘micro schools’. The Catholic Church has been targeted by this movement based on its love of serving communities.

If you’ve followed my blog for a long time, you’ll remember the articles about private education using CCSS aligned assessments.  That article shared an account of a distraught mother and the private Catholic school her children attended.

However, Warriors, this latest mom is from the Lutheran church. She has allowed me to share her evidence.

Let me pause long enough to answer one of her questions. She has asked me when did the Lutheran church schools sell out to the CCSS Machine? I cannot say for every single church school, but I can share that 3 large Lutheran bodies belong to the CAPE (Council for American Private Education). Look below:

Mom Supplied Evidence:

“Maggie”, as I’ll refer to her shared that her Lutheran Church recently joined forces with a more liberal Lutheran sect, Lutheran Social Services. This now allows the Social Service group to run a school. From the slides shown at a meeting about the school, Maggie noticed a definite shift. Tell me what you see, Warriors.

maggie1
Then, this:

maggie2

Other slides Maggie sent me were geared around how all this education shift was a great “Christian” thing to do. It was hyped as ‘opportunity’. There were also more slides about the people in Upbring leading the school. These are a bit more fuzzy than the 2 above, but I will share them with you.

maggie3
To see how Upbring is part of the Lutheran Social Services, go here.
To learn about the ties to the CCSS Machine the newly announced principal has, go here.
(*Note: if you do not see the ties immediately, think Head Start, Early Head Start.)

According to Maggie’s information, the LSS (Lutheran Social Services) is a federal government contractor for refugee resettlements. When you look at the LSS’s website, look at the community wide classes offered. All kinds of religion, just not Christianity.
I was able to find that others have written about this. What I discovered is it isn’t only TX this is happening.

This newest Upbring school in Maggie’s church will closely mirror the Austin, TX Upbring School of Arts and Science. That school uses the Reggio Emilia educational approach. If you do not recognize that early learning philosophy, think ‘child centered’, open classrooms, and ‘critical thinking’. USAS, Upbring School of Arts and Science is a STEAM curriculum user. Recently, I shared with you an Alabama elementary school which is a STEAM recognized school. (*Note: look below for the highlighted “STEM and STEAM” phrase to see that AL elementary school.)

For the Lutheran School being a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) means, “STEAM empowers students to connect what they learn about science, technology, engineering and math through the STEMscopes curriculum with reading, writing, music and other arts.”

STEMscopes is from Accelerate Learning in partnership with Rice University. It’s tied to NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards), and those ‘state standards’. According to the website, STEMscopes is the most widely used science program in the State of Texas in all types of PreK to 12th grade settings.

If you’re interested, Warriors, I found a thesis on how well Reggio Emilia, Project Based Learning and Common Core work together. The author gave big nods to John Dewey and then tied the research back to her major, psychology.

How Low Can We Go?

Warriors, I know we are all beleaguered by the awful impact the CCSS Machine has rendered upon our schools. But to do all this and then slap a faith-based label on it? I’m sorry Warriors, but to me, that’s pretty deceptive.

Closing:

Warriors, I hope the evidence Maggie has provided paints the picture of just how much the CCSS Machine is overreaching into our lives. I hope you can see the agenda behind this type of reform in church based schools. If not, here it is:
global uniformity in the name of educational excellence

Of the code names you see in the image above, almost every one of these can be traced back to the United Nations. Most especially STEM and STEAM. Maggie had asked me about those as well.

Warriors, we will not be free of the global agenda in education or in our nation as long as we are tied in ANY way to the UN. The US has invested too much time, taxpayer dollars, and, energy creating legislation (at all government levels) adhering to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Embedded in these Goals is the shift we’re seeing:

One type of education for everyone. One way to live and work. Attacking faith-based schools with this? It’s all part of the plan toward a one-way-to-believe-society.

Not For The Faint Hearted

Author’s note: This article contains unpleasant material. Please remember, the evidence and research are provided for you to decide.  We must be prepared and informed Warriors, not reactive Warriors

Oh, my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors..We have seen so many awful things happen to education in the past few years together. We’ve seen an increase in the ‘workforce training’ being passed off as ‘academic prowess’.

We’ve seen shifts in how the attitudes, values, beliefs, and, thinking have become so twisted we may not recognize who our children are. Because ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) codified CCSS, we will continue to see unwelcome changes in our nation.

However, what’s changing our children right before our eyes?

Globalism, collectivism, Communism, Socialism, and…………

SATANISM

Because Globalism and all the other ‘isms’ are tied to Common Core (remember, the roots of CC are in the United Nations, which has  been traced to demonic activities and beliefs.)

Part of the ‘sales pitch’ surrounding all this? “Fun”. One of my previously published articles showed you how the ‘fun’ was a guise devised by Robert Muller to steer our children to workforce based education for a socialist benefit. While the article was pointing out how homeschoolers are being pulled into this.

Back in 2014, I wrote an article about Evil having no place in education. It shows you the awful connections between Bill Gates, UNESCO, the World Core Curriculum and the Lucifer Publishing Company.

However, it’s what follows, which is the truly unpleasant (downright disturbing) educational activities you need to know about.

ASSCs:

Warriors, that’s the abbreviation for the After School Satan Clubs in America. Maybe you remember the news from 2016 about the school district in GA which was being asked to start up an ASSC.

According to CBN’s (Christian Broadcasting Network) website, Clubs (as of 8/17) are in Los Angeles, Pensacola, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Tacoma and Springfield, Missouri. Below, in the screen shot, notice the ‘fun’ pictures used to draw our children’s attention to the ASSCs:

ASSCpic
(*Note, as of this writing, Satanic Temples are in TX, GA, NY, OR, CA, LA, FL, AZ, MA, CO, MI, and WA. Coming soon: MO and OK. Where there’s a Temple, the ASSCs will also be. According to all the sources, ASSCs are targeting similar Christian Clubs. I did not find any mention of any other faith based clubs being targeted.)

Warriors, according to all the information I found, these Clubs are available to all school choices, not simply public school children.  If the two smaller versions (above) don’t look ‘fun’ enough, look at the way the Satanic Temple ASSC’s page on their website has depicted the ‘mascot’:

hipdevil
Warriors, if you choose to investigate the website, notice that in the cartoon, the ‘hip devil’ is holding what resembles a candy cane.
I’ve provided you a look (below) at the permission slip with some added emphasis:

permitsevil

Why the red and orange circles? The CCSS Machine has gone to great pains to sell the nation on how ‘great’ the critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and character building are with the aligned curriculum and resources. These resources include after-school programs.

The 4Cs (collectivism, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity) are the anchors of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math). The 4Cs are the anchors of Common Core, Career and College Readiness, Next Gen Science, Career Tech Education, STEM, C3 (College, Career, and Civic Life) and whatever else CC’s been re-branded as (ie: “Future Ready”)

The 4Cs, College/Career Readiness, STEM, and all which connects them are embedded in ESSA, too! More globalism ties in ESSA include the “UDL”, Universal Design for Learning”, Universal Preschool, and, massive data mining to track students from cradle to grave.

You may also notice there’s a “Protect Children” campaign that also is a Satanic Temple project. It’s against corporal punishment. Below, is a picture of the letter they have available to send to your School Board against any type of corporal punishment, including isolation rooms:

protectchild
(*Note: from the “Protect Children” page, this disclaimer,Please note that this tactic has not yet been tested in court. If a student who registers is subsequently harmed and we launch a legal challenge, the State would need to argue that their right to abuse children supersedes the religious rights of students.”)

Warriors, the video contained in this undated  Newsletter is downright chilling. Not because of the images, the background ‘song’.

According to the Forbes article about the ASSCs, the writer also thought the video was chilling. Temper that with this article from the Federalist. It carries the tone of  ‘let’s step back a minute’. While I think what the author is sharing is worth listening to, I know, as a Mom, there is MUCH to be watchful of anytime Satan enters the picture.

Warrior Concerns:

Why did I include the video, if it’s so creepy?

1) We need to know! How can we protect our students from the CCSS Machine if we do not know all the ways IT seeks to destroy our children? After all, so much is available to them on-line. Have they seen this video?! We must know! It must be discussed.

2) Warriors, we need to understand with Satanism comes mind control and mental health concerns (The Temple has a group known as the Grey Faction).

3) I am not stating mental activities will be carried on during an ASSC gathering. But look at the ‘art’ pages below in the pictures. Strong mental images.

4) Knowing how damaging the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) is and how much of it is codified in ESSA, we should be VERY active in finding out what’s in our schools. With ESSA’s mandate for MORE after school, community wide programs, we MUST be very diligent in finding out what groups like the ASSCs are out there, how will they have access to your students? With the recent new appropriations from Congress which increase the amount of mental health ‘activities’ in/outside schools, we must DEMAND we be informed before any actions are taken!

For example, look below:

ASSCcolor
Warriors, let’s remember, the Clubs have access to young minds. Once they ‘see’ something like this (below), how will they ‘un-see’ it?? In 2014, I showed you a similar issue with a children’s book of ABCs.

asscmindimage

Warriors, this is the flag of the Satanic Temple from Facebook. Remember, they are the same group running the After School Satan Clubs:

ASSCflag
A Last Concern, based on Evidence:

Warriors, I know this is quite a bit to process. Believe me, I know. However, remember when I shared near the beginning that the CCSS Machine is rooted in the UN? So much of what’s above is also in the CCSS Machine. Is Satanism present in the United Nations?

From 2009, this article reveals the symbolism found in the New York headquarters. From 2016, this article from the New American Magazine ties the UN, Satanism, and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) together. The ‘common’ bond? It appears to be the combined efforts of Robert Muller and Alice Bailey (a known occultist).

Closing:

Warriors, due to the season we are in, so close to Halloween, keep a watchful eye for anything which seems to harm your family (pets included). We know the CCSS Machine is full of tricks. We know ESSA is no gift of greatness for our education system. We understand the dangers of any ideas which do not fit our family belief system, MUST not be indoctrinated.

Update on “Of Late”

When I wrote “Of Late”, I knew there were several key pieces of evidence to present and somehow tie together.

Almost immediately after the article hit the social media circuit, I got at least 2 other leads from fellow Warriors, making EVEN more connections to the subject matter in “Of Late”. If you missed that topic, it was all about the how our current U. S. Congress is bowing MORE to a global vent for workforce based education for all ages and all educational choices.

What follows is to be used as tools for every anti Fed Ed Warrior out there. Yes, it’s in-depth. But, it needs to be.

Where I Left Off:

Warriors, I left you with the confirmed evidence that American education is being used as a tool against us for the purpose of reshaping our nation. To continue that re-shaping, look to North Dakota, first.

Heading West:

My fellow Warrior from “The Roughrider State”, noticed that some of the items I shared seemed a bit TOO familiar. She then referred me to Gov. Burgum’s recent Innovation in Education Summit. She laid out some quick facts about the ties some of those presenting ‘expert’ evidence have to the CCSS Machine. She heavily questions how well these people represent the values of the North Dakotians.

burgum

I  found Dintersmith involved in another education reform area (which was also another tip from my ND friend). That is the “Most Likely to Succeed” documentary. This was filmed back in 2015 and was considered a hit by the Sundance Film Festival. What the documentary shows is chilling, Warriors. Below is the just over 2 minute trailer. Notice the key CCSS Machine members (Robinson is tied to Pearson, Khan is tied to the Khan Academy and received Gates Foundation funding to switch to CCSS, Common Core State Standards.)

(*Note: the full length documentary is not available legally for free on You Tube due to copyright issues.)
Below is a ‘team’ spirited description about the documentary. The number one team member? Dintersmith!

mostlikely1
If you’d like to see the “Most Likely to Succeed Learning Sparks” (short videos to spur you into action to help create more ‘innovation’ in your schools), find them here. Warriors, you find out how to ‘hack’ education and more. Look for Linda Darling-Hammond to be among the ‘experts’. Try not to cringe.

Warriors, I haven’t forgotten Dintersmith’s assignment by former President Obama (in the brief bio description above) to the UN. Neither should you.

Time and time again, I’ve shown you fact based research on how the former leader and his administration bent over backwards to help continue the cycle of ‘dumbing down’ American education.
There was the PCAST Report from 2010 where STEM was ushered in as a disguise for the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), thanks to the NSF (National Science Foundation) and many other CCSS groups. There was also ‘innovation’ after ‘innovation’ initiative or some digital push to be foisted on our teachers and students.

Thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), those ‘innovation’ and digital overhauls are 100% certain. Has our current President slowed any of this down? Hardly.

Mr. Trump has, in fact, seemingly turned a deaf ear to the CCSS Machine’s technology de facto moves.

To see what Pres. Obama’s White House Report (Next Generation High Schools) featuring Mr. Dintersmith, contained, look here.

Warriors, remember, Dintersmith is a business man, not an educator. The fact sheet for the same White House Report reveals not only a big STEM push, but CTE (Career Tech Education) push, too. Both STEM and CTE are tied up in CCSS, apprenticeships, and the global education scheme of the United Nations.

Getting Back To The “Most Likely”:

Warriors, here’s an almost 30 minute video featuring the producer and lead team member for “Most Likely to Succeed”. You’ll not only see clips from the full documentary, you’ll hear first hand pro CCSS Machine discussion. Once again, Linda Darling-Hammond will surface during this video with her explanation as to how ‘grit’ will help solve the outdated American education. Listen all the way to the end. There is key evidence there.

Meanwhile In North Dakota:

One of the major concerns of my ND Warrior friend is shared by others in a few other States. The profiling of our high school students. If you’ve heard of “NorthStar” you know what I mean. The Facebook group Educray is based in TX. When my ND Warrior shared her concerns on social media, Educray was quick to join her. See below:

northstar
From TX, the Highland Park ISD graduate profile reeks of “content rich” global citizens rhetoric.

To see the Profile of a Graduate/EdLeader21 description of these types of data mining profiles, access the information here. To see the 4 Cs, collaboration, creativity, communication, and, critical thinking (which replace the 3 Rs in education), look here.
Getting Smart (Tom VanderArk) has a detailed article and podcast you’ll need to investigate. You’ll see other States using these profiles for ‘quality education’.

ReTool Your School:

Also featured in the ND Innovation Summit was “School ReTool”. If you’re not familiar, have you noticed how many of our schools are building torn down to be replaced by buildings which could double as a prison? To find out about this movement and how it connects to the global scheme:

https://vimeo.com/album/3269852

If you wonder about the ReTool’s ‘mission’? Look below:

retool1

Among School ReTool’s Partners? Groups from ME, NH, CO, CCSS Machine members Hewlett Foundation, Ted Dintersmith, and more. Find the rest here.

Part of the ‘retooling’? “Academic interships”..a fancy name for ‘Apprenticeships’!! If you’ll remember, Warriors, most of the “Of Late” article spells out for us the global ties to apprenticeships, higher education, and more. To see School ReTool’s Academic Internship plot, visit here.

Warriors, since most of the apprenticeships and internships are targeting our high schoolers in an attempt to groom them for higher education, we know to be watching the post-secondary reform like a hawk. You also know, I have been helping you do just that for years. EdWeek has an article, published earlier this week which reveals some valid points (even for a pro CCSS/ESSA source).

Point #1: Since the U.S. Secretary DeVos has been in office, she’s tackled much more higher education reform than K-12th grades.
Point #2: There’s a ton more federal control on colleges, community colleges, proprietary (for profit) schools, and all the early college, skill prep programs to unite K-12th to post-secondary education.

Innovation Kills:

Warriors, much of the conversation about all this alignment, reform, and increased innovation leaves out the bare faced fact that innovation actually stunts our minds.
How? Too much of anything is bad for us. As the push to unite the USA to a global education continues; technology and innovation/infrastructure for such will continue to envelope us.

Released in 2016, is the short You Tube film which depicts a father and child. Conformity to a work/school system is the topic. According to the resource I found highlighting this film, the tone of the writer is that we must change society to join work and education.
Exactly the message we are hearing from the UN, Congress, and our Administration in Washington, D.C.

The writer stresses that is it our current mindset toward work and school which is killing our student’s minds. In the fact-based research and evidence, it is the CCSS Machine grasp on education which is doing the stunting. NOT parents, not our environment.

I was able to find that one of the producers of “Alike” (Daniel M. Lara) is tied to the Blender Foundation and their 2016 Conference, where he was a featured speaker. Blender Conferences have been an annual event for a while now. Blender’s focus? Arts, technology, animation, and all related subjects. I also found that the Blender Foundation was cited as a resource (page 86) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) publication from 2015 for IGI Global for use in America. This Google Book is a goldmine of education reform. Chapter 83 is all about embedding pedagogy into NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards), you’ll see how innovation is to be used to target those ‘less academic’ than their peers, you’ll find out STEM is being unleashed on our babies, how ‘blended learning’ and PBLs (Problem Based Learning) is to shift education’s responsibility from teacher to student as a force tactic, future trends for K-20 education (kindergarten to 4 year college degree or similar), service based education (as in grooming the ‘collective, global citizens’), computer games as science teachers, multi-pronged distance education, how the Europeans are educating in these ways, open source lectures (coding classes will tie in here), and, more. (*Note in the beginning pages the number of American Universities.)

A 2014 Oregon State University Blender Camp brochure. Warriors, it will show you how ‘blending art’ and STEM fit into the classrooms.

A Blender Foundation “STEM in the Classroom” example. It’s called “Teach STEM Now”.

Interestingly enough, Betsy DeVos and Ivanka Trump just promoted more girls to STEM in the Smithsonian Museum, 7/25/17. They teamed up back in March 2017 to do much the same. (*Note: Not so funny, one of the UN’s SDGs is promoting women in education, especially STEM.)

IGI Global has a Pearson Publishing assessment available for a price. Check it out.

Last Stop, North Carolina:

Warriors, as you know I’ve shared with you how sold out to the CCSS Machine, NC is. Living here has given me the opportunity to show you things to watch for. Look below. One of the NC legislators is bragging on how ‘we’ will be the first in the nation for state-wide classroom internet access. Remember, ESSA’s mandates in technology include such. Way to align, NC.

Access the “Economist” article and you’ll literally read the beginning words with the name of B.F. Skinner, quickly followed by Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg.

Closing:

The long road of reform to a global education is fully in the works. Warriors, let’s get busy!

Gauged Education

Warriors, you’ve heard me say time and time again, that based on research, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is directly connected to the CCSS Machine.

You’ve also heard me, and, seen the proof.
Together, we’ve been able to piece together that the acroynm “STEM” was a marketing tool created by the NSF (National Science Foundation). NSF is a government funded, non-government agency. It’s also fully supportive of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the recent past, I’ve written at least 2 in-depth articles about the UN SDGs.

Below is a screen shot of the the history of NSF. Notice the side bar. Then, read the bottom box. You’ll need to enlarge the picture.

********************************************************************
The biggest take away from all of the above information is simply this:

STEM is an intregal part of the UN’s SDGs and America’s up to its neck in alignment.

What better way to usher STEM into our classrooms for ALL ages that the Common Core (aka: College and Career Readiness), CTE (Career Tech Ed), and more?

That’s exactly what the PCAST Report to former President Obama laid out.

*******************************************************************

Fast forward to 2017. I’m sure you’ve heard of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards). I’ve even written about them in the past. Below are just a few questions I’m sure you may have by now.

Those “Burning” Questions:

1) What group is behind the NGSS?
2) What States are involved in using (or preparing to use) NGSS?
3) How does all this connect to a new curriculum called IQWST (Investigating and Questioning Our World Through Technology)?
4) How does all this tie back to NSF? CCSS Machine? STEM? Common Core (aka: College/Career Readiness)? CTE (Career Tech Ed)?
5) Are there connections, in any way, to the UN SDGs?
6) Is there any action geared toward all this in my State? Where would I look?

The Revealing Answers:

1 and 2; some of 3 and 4) NGSS is a ‘collaborative’ effort between Achieve, Inc. several States across America, the National Research Council, the NSTA (National Science Teachers Assoc.), and, AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science). According to another related organization producing materials to support NGSS, the Standards are registered trademark of Achieve, Inc. (see below) Warriors, did we not raise the question about ‘trademarked educational standards’ with CCSS?!

Educational standards which are trademarked CANNOT be altered!

ngssfacts

By contrast, see how Truth in American Education’s article reveals California’s battle over NGSS assessments. How Achieve, Inc. impacts home education , or, what else is happening via Achieve, Inc. in more traditional education choices; access the highlighted links.
What Achieve, Inc’s website describes the organization as, Achieve is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit education reform organization dedicated to working with states to raise academic standards and graduation requirements, improve assessments, and strengthen accountability.”

IQWST (Investigating and Questioning Our World Through Science and Technology) is just one of the ‘services’ Activate Learning has created. What is Activate Learning (AL)? The organization produces K-8th grade resources focusing on STEM. AL also partners with Achieve, Inc and Measured Progress to support and extend NGSS. Specifically, the IQWST is PBL (project based learning) with a digital component.

A pause for a question:
Now, why is ‘STEM for babies’ (Kindergarten) a bad idea? It starts our children off for an aligned agenda NOT for academic prowess, but workforce based aligned careers paths. See this and this.

If you’d like to see IQWST’s alignment to NGSS, click on the highlighted word. This will also help answer question number 4 when you see how NSF funded the writing of the curriculum.
If you’d like to see NGSS’s alignment to CCSS (which leads to alignment to CTE/STEM/CCR):
http://ngss.nsta.org/making-connections-common-core.aspx

For a visual of interconnection, look at the example from Washington State, below:

WApkg

To answer number 5, from above, Population Education has quite a bit about the ease of adding the UN’s SDGs to existing CCSS and NGSS. By default, doing this adds in CTE, CCR, and STEM. Here are  two excerpts, “The SDGs can be an excellent way to take a solution-minded approach to teaching about climate change and social justice in the classroom.”  Then, this is followed by this, “…fit teaching the SDGs into an already crammed schedule, which has to prioritize CCSS and NGSS, state standards, and meeting district or school-wide curriculum goals.”
To see the Populate Education’s plan for SDG goals to be embedded in CCSS and NGSS, click here.

Populate Education is a  project of Populate Connection. Populate Connection was previously known as ZPG or Zero Population Growth. It was formed back in the late 1960s. If you’d like to see an example of the group’s global attitude about teen pregnancies and how it is addressed in a classroom: PopEd.

popedpac

To access the entire Population Connection’s PAC Financial Statement, go here.

So, what about Question 6..what’s going on in our States? Here’s an example from this past week in NC.

A STEM Teaching Program got the go-ahead from our legislators. State Representatives Horn and Barefoot, along with UNC President Spellings, and, others made the headline news. Here is ABC 11’s Report on the re-release of the STEM Teacher Program. (*Note: Rep. Barefoot, at one time was anti Common Core. ) If the name Spellings rings in your head, that is because it would be Margaret Spellings, as in former U.S. Secretary of Education.
The most important thing about this re-introduction is it is targeting STEM for special needs students.

To see how a NC Bond ties STEM to more than you realize, use this article as an example of where to look in your State.

From MS and including a NC STEM leader, this article with disturbing language like ‘we must understand STEM as a culture’, and more.

Connecting All This to ESSA, WIOA, and the HEA:

Warriors, in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) STEM Master Teacher Corps are embedded.
Since social justice is being taught, those who will be teaching MUST be trained to embed it.
This is where the ESSA mandates for teacher preparation also link to CTE (Career Tech Education) and therefore link to the HEA (Higher Education Act).
Since CTE includes Career Pathways, that links you back to WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act).

The Gift That Keeps Aligning

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, have no fear, I am still here! Yes, it has been a few days since I last shared any education research with you. However, that does not mean I have been slacking off. Quite the contrary. I have found myself involved in a project which has me combing through the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) once again. I wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed any nugget of truth hidden inside the Law. The first time I read the Law (yes, I actually read all the pages of the Final Conference Report (1, 059) pages and the Law (391 pages) ), I knew there were mandates in there to impact every single educational choice known to man, but I also knew that with the ESSA Proposed Regulations Public Comment period drawing to a close (Aug. 1, 2016), I’d better see if there was anything else I missed the first time. A special note for you Warriors, the Final Conference Report AND the Law have the same wording, items, and intent, it is simply a matter of page number difference. The font on the Report is much easier to decipher.

That Gift Quote:

Warriors, we know the ESSA was signed in early December 2015. We know the CCSS Machine members in the Congress, White House, and those in attendance, were almost giddy with joy over the Law. (See below)

ESSA gift
Now, I am not rubbing salt in any wounds. I am actually using the President’s quote to make a valid point:

While the Law was to ONLY encompass K-12th, look at the picture. This is based off my research/reading of the ESSA (as well as the WIOA and HEA) As I have shared with you in the past, birth to career education is embedded in the Law.  ESSA embeds WIOA and HEA in it! ESSA will not stop at the school’s front doors, it means to invade your home, your neighborhood, your entire town (rural or urban), it means to invade your job, too! { WIOA: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; HEA: Higher Education Act) } Some gift…some miracle, Obama.
( To see the entire speech: https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2015/12/10/remarks-president-every-student-succeeds-act-signing-ceremony )

The Gifted Students:

While I have covered how ESSA will cover every educational choice and shown you have almost every type of student/citizen will be entwined, I have not gone into as much detail for the gifted students as I have for the others. So, the remainder of this article will focus on how ESSA will take this subgroup (as ESSA refers to any type of student outside of the traditional public school student) and align them as well.

The National Gifted and Talented Student Associations:

If you didn’t know it, there are a few of these groups. There is the NAGC (National Association of Gifted Children), there is the NSGT (National Society for the Gifted and Talented), The U.S. State Department’s Gifted Education, The Acceleration Institute and, more. (*Note: According to the Open Education Data Base Website) there are at least 50 organizations of some type for gifted students. See: http://oedb.org/ilibrarian/50-essential-links-for-the-parents-of-gifted-children/)
I urge you to look into as many of these as you can. Like always, I am delving into just one of these groups and ESSA Law itself. (I will be looking in-depth at the other gifted groups later.)

NAGC, National Assoc. of Gifted Children:

Website: https://www.nagc.org
Their stance on Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards:
 https://www.nagc.org/sites/default/files/Position%20Statement/Common%20Core%20and%20Next%20Generation%20Science%20Standards.pdf

An excerpt from this Press Release, ” The developers of the CCSS and NGSS have acknowledged individual differences of gifted students noting that some students will master the standards before grade 12, and that it is up to educators to extend the learning goals and objectives beyond the standards to meet their needs. This acknowledgement means that effective implementation of the standards requires specific instructional strategies and curricular materials, including modified formative and summative assessments, for advanced and gifted students whose levels of learning exceed grade-level expectations. Effective instruction using CCSS and NGSS for gifted students will require extensive professional development on the standards and the assessment systems, sufficient materials and personnel resources to support implementation..

The NAGC’s Board of Directors includes a Dr. Dina Brulle. If you do not recognize her name, she has written much on the subject of Common Core, gifted students, how they learn, and why group cluster settings are the best for the gifted learners. You can see her position paper on the group cluster settings on the AASA (American Assoc. of School Administrators, aka: The School Superintendents Assoc.). AASA is a huge CCSS Machine member organization! Access the paper: http://www.aasa.org/content.aspx?id=17446

Now, Warriors, why would I point out this one Board member? Certainly there are others who are CCSS Machine friendly. Brulle is a former Product Developer for Pearson Publishing’s Assessments Division! Her CV (Curriculum Vita) shows that from 2006-2009, Pearson was Brulle’s employer. See the CV: https://webapp4.asu.edu/directory/cv?id=282980

The NAGC Annual Fund uses part of its money to promote and train leaders for gifted students in Common Core. Among the top donors in 2015? Pearson Publishing! See: http://www.nagc.org/get-involved/volunteercontribute-nagc/thanks-these-nagc-2015-annual-fund-donors

Warriors, you might be interested in the NAGC’s Special Interest Groups and what groups they network with in the name of educating gifted students. See: http://www.nagc.org/get-involved/nagc-networks-and-special-interest-groups

There are Gifted Programs nation-wide which align to the NAGC Standards. One example is from CA. The University of California at Irvine’s Extension has the GATE (Gifted and Talented) program. Not only does it align to the NAGC Educational Standards, but to the CAG (California Assoc. for the Gifted) Standards. See the UCI brochure:
https://ce.uci.edu/pdfs/brochures/color/gate.pdf

Do the GATE Standards include Common Core? Indeed they do. Taken from the 2013 document from the CAG, is the screen shot below:

ESSA, That Gift for the Gifted?

Okay, Warriors, just WHAT does the ESSA have to say about gifted students? Well, according to the NAGC, ESSA includes several items (mandates) from the TALENT Act. TALENT Act was to support and enrich gifted/talented learners. (*Note: TALENT stands for:  To Aid Gifted and High-Ability Learners by Empowering the Nation’s Teachers Act {S. 363 and HR2960}. To read the S 363, (HR 2960 is an exact copy):
https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/114/s363/text
Basically, the Act was to help address the so called achievement gap, both here in the US and globally in the 21st Century with 21st Century skills. As we know, ESSA is full of this very theme.

As far as what those several TALENT Act items are, the NAGC doesn’t make too clear on their page concerning ESSA and gifted learners. See: http://www.nagc.org/get-involved/advocate-high-ability-learners/nagc-advocacy/federal-legislative-update/every-student

SO, what have I found in the ESSA language about gifted and talented learners? From my July 5th article, I showed you how an entire program (called Envision) is geared for younger gifted students and uses CTE (Career Tech Education) as one of its ties to both the CCSS Machine AND ESSA. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/07/05/youth-envisioned/

Back in January 2016, I shared with you how gifted students (including those in AP Courses and dual enrollment) where being sucked in by ESSA. This one gives you exact page numbers, too.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/07/the-great-education-experiment/

Not included in either article are the following ESSA Final Conference Report page numbers and how they relate to gifted students:
Page 138, identifying schools serving gifted and talented students (means any school with gifted learners will be noted.)
Page 328, ELLs (English Language Learners) who are identified as ‘gifted’  receive personalized  learning
Pages 335 and 336 explain how local funds must include activities for gifted learners
Page 636 (Section 4644) begins the Supporting High-Ability Learners and Learning details.
Here is a screen shot as to why this should be a concern.

On Page 637 you will find that it is the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary who will consult with Gifted and Talented Child Experts and enter into contracts with the States for funding the Javits Program. Further in on Pages 637 and 638, you will find how the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary will have any group or person wishing to help educate the gifted and talented, must submit an application to him, NOT their States!

Page 639 establishes a National Research Center for Gifted and Talented Students! Here is the proof, “CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT.—
‘‘(1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary (after consultation with experts in the field of the education
of gifted and talented students) shall establish a National Research Center for the Education of Gifted and Talented Children and Youth through grants to, or contracts with, one or more institutions of higher education or State educational agencies, or a combination or consortium of such institutions and  agencies and other public or private agencies and organizations, for the purpose of carrying out activities described in subsection (c). ‘‘(2) DIRECTOR.—The National Center shall be  headed by a Director. The Secretary may authorize  the Director to carry out such functions of the National Center as may be agreed upon through arrangements with institutions of higher education,  State educational agencies, local educational agencies, or other public or private agencies and organizations.”

More details can be found out about this National Center from Pages 639-642.

Closing:

I know this is a lot to take in. It is a lot to wrap our heads and hearts around. How in the world our Congress members DID NOT read this Bill before it became a LAW is still something I do not understand. Aligning education is one thing, using our teachers and students for ‘research’ is quite another. Let’s remember, however, that ALL students and teachers will be used for ESSA purposes, not necessarily their own.

Be sure to stay tuned for my look into the other Gifted Associations.

Ed For Sale

Greetings Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors! The Weekend News is here! What can we learn from the CCSS Machine? In a short sentence: how the global education business market is growing.

A Recent Webinar:

Just a few days ago, I was among many who joined in a pro CCSS backed group’s webinar for how educational business/services can a) capitalize on the recent passage of (Every Student Succeeds Act, ESSA); b) go global with education; c) make big sales for their companies; and d) drive education as we know it straight down the tubes.

Which group was hosting? The Gates Foundation funded EdWeek, of course! What global educational consulting firm also joined the frey? The ISC (International School Consultancy). If you haven’t heard of ISC, they are based in the United Kingdom and are the oldest global education consulting group of their kind. Because of this, it was shared in the webinar, the ISC has the historical educational data to back why going global is a great thing for all of us. Among the nations attending this webinar, the most were from the U.S.A., while the next 2 biggest attendees were the U.K. and the United Arab Empire.

About 2 months ago, EdWeek launched its Marketplace, where educational business, services, and those seeking such, can get information. I was invited to join the Marketplace, so I could get all kinds of research. However, at $750.00, I decided to pass. Besides, why in the world would I support the Gates Foundation’s backed group by purchasing their research?

It was the Marketplace portion of EdWeek presenting in this webinar. According to Kevin (from Marketplace), the virtual store is where gaps of what K-12th education needs meet business providers. Thus a harmonious bridge is created. Aren’t we so lucky….Among some of the provisions are Next Generation Science Standards/Assessments, Data Mining tools, etc. Kevin also stated the ESSA is for business ‘a canary in a coal mine’ opportunity. WiseGeek.org says that for governments and businesses the phrase means a ‘harbinger of the future’. (See: http://www.wisegeek.org/what-does-it-mean-to-be-a-canary-in-a-coal-mine.htm)

According to one of the slides from the Webinar, Bill Gates has predicted the education businesses (especially digital) will increase by 50% or $1.1 billion dollars. Driving the sales? Ed Tech (supposedly higher quality education/more personalized learning/evidence based results based on proven technology)

What I Have Seen/Heard:

As one who has researched the stuffing out of the ESSA, I can tell you, the increased amount of P3s (public private partnerships), businesses/educational services will increase dramatically. LEAs (local education agencies) and SEAs (State Education Agencies) will be able to open their federally provided funds up to anyone offering any type of business/service which can be related to student success (aka: student outcomes, competency based mastery, college and career readiness, post-secondary readiness, and student achievement).

Warriors, we should NOT be the last to know this information! Why do I say this?
a) The EdWeek Research arm recently partnered with the National School Superintendent’s Association to conduct a study on ESSA friendly PD (Professional Development).  I have shared with you in the past how aligned to CCSS, the School Supers Association is.
b) a recent meeting I attended hosted by the North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction was full of folks from P3s either imploring the DPI for ESSA federal funds or employing more people from those P3s (and new ones) for educational purposes! Among the most sought after? SEL (social emotional learning) My point? The pro side is wasting NO time in getting the message out. Since the state I live is in already hopping on the bandwagon, yours probably is too!

More We Need to Know From Both Hosts:

The CCSS/ESSA slanted Webinar also shared the following information:

1) Educational business and services are golden opportunities for America.
2) School leaders WANT more personalized learning (as based off Digital Promise research). (*Note from my research: Digital Promise is a huge portion of ESSA.)
3) With more personalized learning comes better data tracking via student CBE (competency based education) progress.
4) SC, MS, ND, KY, and KS lead the nation in ELL (English Language Learning) digital education content.
5) Professional Development for teachers is slowly embracing the digital shift.
6) OERs (Open Educational Resources) are popular with teachers now and are better aligned to the CCSS than previous resources. OERs also are a great business profit maker because your company can help purchasers save school funding.
7) The ESSA will give educational businesses not only more money, but give schools better accountability, too. (*Note from my research: ESSA’s main damaging points are the national assessments, the accountability of the States to the U.S. Dept. of Ed and the funding which unites all this.)
8) Non-academic education businesses/services will also have opportunities to cash in.
9) Consider all of the above as opportunities for experimentation in education, especially how our students/teachers are measured.
10) EdWeek is helping the gradual building of international education marketing and trends. In 2015, around $15.2 billion was made by those participating. ISC shared that the tuition market for profits is about $39 billion and will increase to near $90 billion by 2026. Fee based education is a huge portion of the global education aspect. All this means the global economy is very healthy and that enrollment population is increasing.
11) English is being considered the language of business, therefore the need for ELL alignment is paramount for globally recognized credentials. In the screen shot below, notice the EMEM (Engish-Medium Education Market). This is something we will see increase via ESSA and other moves.

iscglobal

12) Global education has 4 benefits, the top 2: labor/quality learning
13) Inclusion is a top need for those being globally educated. Globally educated students are best fed by curriculum which supports inclusion.
14) There are over 200 International School Associations.
15) UAE (United Arab Empire) leads the world in the most international schools.
16) Curriculum trends find that UK based resources and IB (International Baccalaureate) are among the most used. (*Note from my research: IB Curriculum is not only UN/UNESCO based, it’s main contributor is a noted leftist.)
17) ISC noted that the most measured global assessments they track are the IGCSE*, the IB Diploma Program, the PSAT and SAT, and the GCEA*. (*IGCSE stands for “International General Certificate of Secondary Education”.) The University of Cambridge developed this over 25 years ago. To learn more:
 http://www.cie.org.uk/programmes-and-qualifications/cambridge-secondary-2/cambridge-igcse/
(*GCE stands for General Certificate of Education; the GCEA, from what I can find refers to only one level of GCEs. There are GCE-As, GCE-A2 levels. Combined, the 2 levels have 31 career based tracks you can earn your Certificate in. There is also a GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education). There are 41 career based tracks available at the secondary level.)

Warriors, does this sound familiar?! Career Pathways, Career Clusters, Career Technical Education….all part of the CCSS Machine!! To see more about GCEs:

Closing:

I will be taking a more in-depth look at the ISC and reporting what I find in the upcoming week. In the meantime, here are some resources you can access:

FTF: A Chip off The Education Block

Sure, you've heard of private schools, but have you heard of 'micro' schools?!
Sure, you’ve heard of private schools, but have you heard of ‘micro’ schools?!

Anti CCSS Warriors, we have another education reform ‘wannabe’. Consider it a chip off the old CCSS Machine’s block.. What AM I talking about?! “Micro Schools”, of course! If you haven’t heard of them, that’s okay, I recently discovered these schools, too.
One other question we will address is how this ties back to the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act).

So, What is a ‘Micro School’?

I found out about them via the Gates Foundation supportive, CCSS Machine member: Ed Week. (See: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2016/01/27/micro-schools-could-be-new-competition-for.html?r=608439843&cmp=eml-enl-eu-news1-RM)

Like its name, these schools are small in size (typically no more than an entire school population of 150). Unlike traditional schools, micros have all the students in one classroom.  While the article suggests these schools are like the old-fashioned one room schoolhouses, there is absolutely NOTHING old fashioned about the agenda behind these small schools. As an anti CCSS Warrior, see if you can catch the agenda the CCSS Machine has laced through these modern minis.

AltSchools, the Supposed Leader in Micro Schools:

This group is mentioned in the article I have linked you to (above). You can access their website, https://www.altschool.com/
From their ‘About Us’ page, their mission statement begins with, ” AltSchool is a collaborative community of micro-schools that uses outstanding teachers, deep research, and innovative tools to offer a personalized, whole child learning experience for the next generation.”
(*Note, be sure to watch the embedded video with the smiley faced guy.)
You should love the fact he is a businessman now involved in education. While that doesn’t seem so bad, listen to his pro CCSS companies he rattles off. (example: Google) Don’t miss his plug for project based learning (which is rooted in another progressive, pro CCSS Machine member, The Buck Institute. (my previously published look at PBLs:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/sic-em-saturday-ccss-progressives-and-pbls/ )

Currently, AltSchools are in CA, NY, IL. To see the AltSchool locations in their entirety,
https://www.altschool.com/about-us#our-parents
(*Note, be sure to click on one of the existing locations to look at the floor plan. You will see what many other traditional schools are doing, totally transforming them to be open locations with centers.)

The curriculum? Forget about seeing your student as a person, this group is after “T-shaped learners”.  What the heck is a “T-shaped learner”? An excerpt, “…Students who have a wide breadth of knowledge across all subjects and depth in the subjects that they are passionate about. In addition to cultivating strong social-emotional skills, AltSchool students build competency across core academic areas: math, science, English language arts, and social studies. Through our before- and after-school co-curricular offerings, students delve even deeper into subjects of interest, including drama, arts, coding, and foreign languages.”
The educators? All 21st Century ones. See the entire description of both curriculum and educators, https://www.altschool.com/education#curriculum
(*Note: the heavy use of technology and the reference to aligning to the most recent education discoveries.)
From the FAQs, this loaded statement of CCSS Machine groups in the curriculum:
‘AltSchool’s learning objectives draw from a variety of standards and metrics as a framework for instructional design. Our Lower and Middle School instruction is informed by the Common Core, National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Next Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), among others.’

Helping fund AltSchools? Facebook and Apple owners! Yep,  these two pro CCSS Machine members even made the news about their investments. See: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/05/04/altschool-scores-100-million-from-mark-zuckerberg-and-others/26740867/
(*Note: be sure to read where the AltSchool founder reveals that there are non-profits and other investors on board as well.)

Other financial backers? “Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, Harrison Metal, John Doerr, Jonathan Sackler, Learn Capital, Omidyar Network, and other leading investors.” To learn more about why these investors are lining up in huge support of AltSchools, you will need to see the AltSchools Press Release from 2014. It explains that the schools are a ‘certified B organization’. What does THAT mean? Heavy on social justice issues with a large collective mindset. See the entire press release: https://www.altschool.com/press-release-11-17-14

Want to better understand what a B Organization truly is? As an anti CCSS Warrior, you will be quick to pick up on the main themes, the global aspects, and the money to be made.

New Orleans, TX, and Globally: Micros Coming Soon!

Also included in the featured EdWeek article about AltSchools, were the facts that New Orleans public charters are considering the AltSchool way of education; that at least one private school in TX is already involved (since 2009); that  Catholic schools could be well served; how  comprehensive high schools could learn from AltSchools; and, that several non-USA locations are benefiting from AltSchools.
Warriors Against the Core
, are you seeing the pattern?

Not included in the NAIS:

AltSchools, according to the EdWeek article are not being tracked by the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools), so there may be many MORE micro schools in the world. However, my question is, are AltSchools accredited at all? One CBS interview from 2015, reveals the groups is in the process of becoming accredited. See: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/altschool-alternative-education/
Anti CCSS Warriors, do you recognize an issue here?

As Far as How This Plays into the ESSA:

Besides the red flags I have recently raised about the ESSA and technology/data/digital, the AltSchools have all sorts of CCSS Machine ties to overlook or assume they won’t be part of the ESSA written educational future in America. All this said, the AltSchools are considered ‘alternative education’. That phrase is most definitely used in the ESSA.
Alternative education evidence based state practices your LEAs (Local Education Agencies) can use to support a student: Page 99; Alternative routes for SEAs (State Education Agencies) to certify supporting programs: Page 111;  any alternative education method in regards to correctional facilities: Page 266;  alternative means of receiving a high school diploma: Page 793; For Native Americans, alternative education, standards, assessments: Page 811; The bigger the LEA, the bigger the funding weighed alternative: Page 946;Alternative routes for educators to teach or school leaders to lead: Pages 141; 305; 318; 322; 398; 800; 972-981 (ESSA Final Conference Report).

Considering my last 3 articles went into great detail about the digital and technology ties the ESSA has now put into action for all of us, you might wish to factor schools like AltSchools into the mix. The Morning After: CCSS Lives On

While this cartoon was depicted a U.S. Congress run by monopolists, it can easily resemble the 'CCSS Machine' running education.
While this cartoon  depicted a U.S. Congress run by monopolists, it can easily resemble the ‘CCSS Machine’ running education.

Anti CCSS Warriors, it has been said that there is nothing new in life. Last night we saw our U.S. Congress commit an old tactic: a tyrannical treason. By the lack of backbone, our elected officials chose to let CCSS live on! They chose to let data mining of our students live on, the assessments which judge our students and teachers unfairly will survive as well. The lie of control being giving back to the states will also live on! Much like the old picture above of a monopoly run Congress, we are witnessing in modern times a Congress run by the P3s(public/private partnerships) of CCSS, NOT the citizens.

Our educational reform being handled so illegally (consider the U.S. Constitution’s parameters for a ‘we the people’ government), so rushed, so without due diligence is the worst example of leadership I have ever seen. It certainly is the worst Christmas present Congress could give America!

In spite of all this, the problems of the CCSS (social emotional learning, aligned communities, cradle to grave education reform, etc.) and all its other names (CTE, Career Tech Education, STEM, Next Generation Science, Career Pathways, etc.) will not be what is brought up by the spin doctors. What will be is how great the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is. You’ll probably hear Congress members brag on how they are true education champions for ending NCLB (No Child Left Behind). In my researched opinion, not one Congress member needs to gloat about any of it. Why? THEY DIDN’T READ the BILL! They rubber stamped the Bill! They ignored the citizens completely. Yes, there were 64 who voted ‘no’. They do deserve a check mark for saying ‘no’. However, will they continue to say ‘no’ when all the parts of ESSA are enacted in real time? Will they say ‘no’ when the re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act) comes up for votes? After all, Sen. Alexander is overseeing that re-write, too!

Because the House of Representatives voted by a landslide to let a horrible education reform become law doesn’t mean it is one YET. The Senate must still vote on it (yesterday they elected to wait a week or two for that move). Then, it hits the President’s desk. During some of the ‘down’ time yesterday, one media source speculated all this could be signed into law BEFORE Christmas.

We still have time to fight.

Even if the worst happens, we still need to fight on! Why? As I stated previously, there’s nothing new in life. So, just like a ‘puppet Congress’ has happened before, so has an ‘opposed society’. We ARE those oppressed. Our students, teachers, school staff members will become even more oppressed! Our state legislators will be hog tied to ESSA, too!

According to the language of the ESSA, the states will have to answer to the federal government even more so! The freedoms of choosing your child’s educational choice will be taken away, you’ll see your community become aligned to resemble the stuff of science fiction. Am I making any of this up? Oh, no. I’ve read portions of the ESSA, I’ve done research on the push for national standards (and all that goes with it since 2009). I’ve considered the documented evidence provided by a network of dedicated group of everyday citizens showing how all of the above is about to happen in real time.

As I listened to some of the live proceedings yesterday, I heard Representatives chatter on about ‘new Common Core Standards’; how the media had reported it right when they said ESSA is better than ESEA; how our society would have a work ready student base; how local communities would be the biggest reaper of all this educational reform. The sad part, these spineless members actually believe what they are saying! The even sadder part, they will NOT be around to see your students, your teachers, your school officials put all this alignment into action! BUT, we will be! What will we do?!

We MUST remain our students champions! We must be even more aware of what is written in the ESSA so we can be one step ahead. When a portion of the ESSA is enacted where more power is given to our LEAs (Local educational agencies) we MUST know HOW that power is to be used (I can tell you much of it appears to be directed toward parents). When the 21st Century Community Learning Centers come to your town, you MUST know exactly what they will be joining the community together with. When the mental health components (which will impact every student), we MUST know how to block them! There is SO much work we have to do to not only champion education, but to protect our citizens! Even if you don’t have a student ‘in the system’, your tax dollars are being used to make all this (and more) happen! Think of it as ‘taxation with zero citizen input’.

In the coming days, I’ll share with you my evidence from not only the ESSA, but some of my previously published articles (containing documents and other evidence) of how the ESSA has WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) ties, how it aligns post-secondary education to K-12th grade, how state funding formulas will dictate it all, and more.

Before I close for today, one of my fellow anti CCSS Warriors had an idea that Congress should, in the future, be made to sign a form stating the legislation they are voting on has been duly read, considered, and had adequate citizen feedback on. From a personal standpoint, I like that idea very much. It would mean we’ve not see a rushed hack job of a bad bill survive past the trash bin.

Make no mistake Warriors Against the Core, ESSA is a recycling ‘masterpiece’, NOT a better bill for America. If we truly want ‘better’ for our next generations of children, we will have to fight for it!

Take heart, my dear Warriors, we aren’t done yet. It’s tough, but we’re tougher. The battles we still have left to fight need our total commitment. We are strong, we are the champions of our children.
