What’s Up Ahead

Warriors Against Fed Ed, you know I’ve been a consistent researcher on the post-secondary education front. You are also aware how I’ve shown you document upon document which proves the CCSS Machine is NOT content with traditional K-12th grade educated students, rather, it is after our babies all the way to our grandparents.

It also means EVERY school choice, at some time or another has been, or, is in the process of being..

100% streamlined alignment to Common Core, Career Tech Education, College and Career Readiness, STEM, and all that goes with them.

During the past couple of months, I been especially focused on just how desperately our U.S. Congress is churning out propaganda on the ‘value’ of an educated (and streamlined) workforce. Not to be left out, the U.S. Dept. of Ed has echoed this. The CCSS Machine has placed it’s change agents in our government very strategically.
This agenda is to be continued in 2017.

So, what has the U.S. Dept. of Ed had to say about adult ed and its future (2017 and beyond) that I’ve not already shared? Look below.

The December 2016 Blog Entry:

The “Homeroom” entry this screen shot came from was dated 12/1/16. You can access the entire entry, http://blog.ed.gov/2016/12/committing-adult-schools-2020/

Here is the context for the picture you see above, “Over the last few months, staff of the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) visited adult charter schools and schools for disconnected or opportunity youth in the D.C. area. We were inspired by the dedicated students, faculty, and staff and saw the need for more high-quality and adequately resourced adult and family charter schools, pilot schools, or other blended learning or hybrid schools for adults and opportunity youth in the United States. There are currently 36 million adults and 5.3 million disconnected or opportunity youth in the country who could benefit from access to such schools.”

Look at the logo on the gentleman’s chef shirt. That is the logo of the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School. You can see the logo below. Be sure you note the two facts I inserted on this screen shot.

From the School’s 2014-15 Annual Report, this screen shot shows several CCSS Machine member groups as donors.

Also in the Homeroom blog entry, was this bombshell, “Today, December 1, 2016, OCTAE, the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, and the Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School hosted the first Adult Schools Growth Forum focused on expanding high-quality schools for low-skilled adult learners, opportunity youth, and other disadvantaged older youth and adults.”

You can access the Forum’s Agendabbadultedagenda

Featured speakers from CCSS Machine member organizations were there. For example, the Center for Education Reform (the same group which beat President-elect Trump’s door down with the message of continuing to incentivize education for ‘innovation’ and ‘technology’.

If you would like to see the CCSS Machine at work about the Forum from 12/1, head over to Twitter and type in #MoreAdultSchools.

Oh, when you access the Homeroom Blog, please read the comments which have been displayed. Every one of them is in support of this type of education. I wonder if they’d be so supportive if they realized the CCSS Machine’s intent for each student.

In The Next 3 Years:

Over the next 3 years, a national commitment has been issued (via the Blog entry) to create 100 MORE adult public international charter schools!  You can access the ‘menu’ of adult schools action steps: adult_schools_growth_forum_menu_of_options
(*Note: the first group targeted for ‘adult education’ is investors! Parents are dead last.)

Carlos’ School Is A Trailblazer:

Here’s a document you’ll really want to get your hands on. It’s a Case Study of the Rosario Adult International Public Charter School. It was conducted by CAL-SIOP (Center for Applied Linguistics-Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol). Below is as great a piece of evidence as ever to show the purposed intent for our adult students and their alignment to the same type of ‘workforce based education’ our younger students are experiencing. Note the dates almost line up with the introduction of CCSS/CTE, too!

If you’d like to know about the Middle States Assoc. of Colleges and Schools (MSHE), be sure to go to their website. In 2013, there was a name change which is pretty significant for our War vs the Core. You’ll also want to note their involvement with CHEA (Council on Higher Education Accreditation). MSHE also has a K-12 branch.

Steering On the Aligned Road:

National Institute of Latino School Leaders (a project of the NCLR, National Council of La Raza) has praised the momentum of adult charter schools. In this 2015 document funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, you’ll see what those praises are. http://publications.nclr.org/bitstream/handle/123456789/1416/Memo%20No.%208?sequence=9&isAllowed=y

OCED (Organization for Social Co-operation of Economic and Development), in 2005, published the results of the first Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey. Here’s an excerpt, The Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey (ALL) is a large-scale co-operative effort undertaken by governments, national statistics agencies, research institutions and multi-lateral agencies. The development and management of the study were co-ordinated by Statistics Canada and the Educational Testing Service (ETS) in collaboration with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) of the United States Department of Education, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC) and the Institute for Statistics (UIS) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).”

Weekend News for the War Against the Core

For the last weekend in April (2016), I wanted to leave you with a few things every anti CCSS Warrior needs to know about P3s (Public private partnerships). If you missed these, you can now find them in one place. If you haven’t gotten this information before, you now have some great tools to use.

Blasted P3s!

If you have followed my research long, you know that time and time again, the P3s keep showing up in the midst of the CCSS Machine and its grinding away at America. Like everything fed through the CCSS Machine, P3s and their intent is not good for education at all.

What once was to be a healthy relationship between government and the private sector has become a holy hell. Consider this: early P3 relationships concerning the private sector and schools were to BUILD the schools. That way the private sector could return to their private business and the schools could get on with teaching.

But in the shift to CBE (Competency Based Education) aka OBE, (Outcome Based Education) the private sector has done more than build the schools, they now help guide what is taught. Meanwhile the schools have appeared to have no problem selling our kids education out in the process.

ruboff

In the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), States will be awarded big bucks for allowing MORE P3s in our schools, not less. P3s will get to work with the LEAs (Local Education Agencies) to determine if a student is ready to proceed to the next grade level. (Page 137 of the ESSA Final Conference Report states this.)

Recently, while on a national webinar/conference call with a pro CCSS group concerned about the ESSA and civil rights, they brought up the fact that P3s were a great thing in schools. When I asked them about Page 137 and the mandate; how would the P3s be accountable; how could the P3s do the teacher’s job, they were stumped! I was told that while they didn’t have a good answer they certainly agreed P3s need to be vetted and deemed appropriate.

Warriors, do you see what an open-ended message the ESSA used in this instance? Do you see how fraught with alignment this leaves our States?! Consider the recent news that Planned Parenthood has now been given the green light to open offices directly in select schools across the country. (Source: http://associatedmediacoverage.com/planned-parenthood-announces-on-site-partnership-with-select-public-school-systems/ )

This is a blazing example of a P3 overreach. While it is supposed to be in high schools only, think about the fact our high schools are being redesigned (or already have been) and now include middle school age kids in the SAME buildings!! This means students younger than high school could now have access to the P3, CCSS agenda driven Planned Parenthood.

Please note, Planned Parenthood is not the only agenda driven group. There are plenty more. Ask yourselves, since ESSA has it that groups like this will help determine how ready for the next grade level your student is, HOW will they measure this?!

More on P3s from my blog articles:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/03/01/warriors-guide-to-essa-and-private-education/ (*Note: P3s will definitely include the digital makeovers in our homes/schools/wrap around services as laid out in the ESSA.)

https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/04/meet-your-new-neighbor-essa-seriously/ (*Note: According to the White House Promise Neighborhood has over 1,000 P3s involved. The White House link to find this is embedded in the article.)

https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/04/19/play-money/ (*Note: just published earlier in April, the article where I featured the P3 group teaching teachers how to run recess/play time and their alignment to the Social Emotional Learning aspects of CCSS.)

https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/04/17/watch-out-alignment-ahead/ (*Note: Also recently published, this one shows how the States will be incentivized to create MORE P3 partnerships for education.)

Related P3 Information, Top/Down and Spread Around:

From the U.S. Dept. of Ed, the i3 Grantees (Investing in Innovation):
http://www2.ed.gov/programs/innovation/awards.html

From the U.S. Dept. of Ed, the Promise Neighborhood Awards (will only be up to 2012, as 2013-14, no new awards were given. Also note that Promise Neighborhoods are codified in the ESSA and have an entire Section in the Law, see Section 4624; Others related to Promise Neighborhoods: Full Service Community Schools, Section 2465; 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Section 4001-42016. Each of these will also have P3 involvment/overreach):
http://www2.ed.gov/programs/promiseneighborhoods/awards.html

While I provide the following as examples, please note that each named partner may also have other partners they work with and are NOT named. Regardless of how trustworthy the names of the partners/groups are, remember, this is all part of the purposed and planned overreach in the name of ‘student success’!

An example from CA of an existing Promise Neighborhood Partnership program:
http://www.haywardpromise.org/partners.php
However, look at the vision behind the Promise Neighborhood in this instance:
http://www.haywardpromise.org/vision.php

Here is another CA example of a Promise Neighborhood, in this one, I saw at least 3 CCSS Machine members (United Way, La Raza, and a Economic and Workforce Development Council)http://missionpromise.org/our-work/mpn-partners/

This Promise Neighborhood in MN is governed by a private council!!
https://www.wilder.org/Community-Leadership/Saint-Paul-Promise-Neighborhood/Pages/Partnership-Council.aspx (Ask yourselves, what does this mean in an ESSA era? Will this type of governing replace current school boards, town councils, etc.?) Think I am nuts for suggesting this question? Remember the ESSA is written as an open-ended law in some of its parameters on purpose! Also, the mandate of student achievement wrap around services basically rubber stamps ANYTHING as long as it can be considered educational, a resource, or both.

From their Strategic Plan (2013-2107), the following excerpt, “EPN initiated its target setting process in November, 2013 prior to DOE/Urban Institute’s released of its target setting guidance. EPN’s process included thirteen community-wide meetings with over 200 individuals from the broader community and ten small-group meetings with over 50 individuals from specific workgroups (e.g., the Dual Generation Workforce Pipeline workgroup) or specific partnerships (e.g., Out of School Time providers, City Year, all SAISD campus principals and their teams). The process continued up until the submission of the Data Plan on March 31st, 2014.” To get the entire PlanEPN-Strategic-Plan-to-Achieve-Results-2013-2017
(*Note: you will need to know that Head Start is mentioned in this Plan. Head Start is also aligned to the CCSS Machine! Early Head Start is too. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Funding (used in many communities across America) is also aligned.)

Closing:

I hope I have not confused you on the intent embedded in the ESSA and the P3s. They mean to ruin academic education and replace it with competency based, workforce purposed, social justice minded, and constricted paths for our students. While much is being said about P3s, the danger is what ISN’T being said and how it will be carried out thanks to the ESSA!

As I recently heard an author state about this kind of treatment in another country (I have paraphrased it):
They (those in charge of government/education) do not kill you outright with guns  and knives, they kill you daily by not allowing you to be who you were meant to be or doing what you want.

Monday Musings: More Parent CCSS Alignment

Anti CCSS Warriors, we’ve seen time and time again, especially in the past month, how the CCSS Machine has been cranking out the “parents checklists”, the ‘parents toolboxes’, and the like. However, did you know there’s a new “Parent/Community Checklist” by the U.S. Dept. of Education? Yes! The Gates Foundation even helped them pull it off. But wait, so did the Scholastic Books Company! I’ll be sure to include the link to the checklist, but to see the Gates/Scholastic mentions, you’ll need to see the footnotes.

.
.

As far as the U.S. Dept. of Education’s suggested resources to help you become a better aligned parent/community? Great Schools, National PTA, and the federal government. Need I mention that each of these ‘resources’ are subjective about Common Core and not objective?!

There are a couple of other groups which helped create the aligned guide to the ‘high standards’. They are the UNCF and NCLR (UNCF stands for “United Negro College Fund”/NCLR stands for “National Council of La Raza”) So are these groups also sold out to the Common Core State Standards Initiative? Let’s see!

UNCF, United Negro College Fund:

Their website: http://www.uncf.org/
Their CCSS/CTE ties include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation via the scholarship program set up between the two. (See: http://www.gmsp.org/publicweb/aboutus.aspx)
See this screen shot from the webpage and note that the now CCSS aligned GED is included as a qualifier for the scholarship. Note that the abbreviation CCR stands for “College/Career Readiness”, CTE stands for “Career Technical Education”, and, CCSS stands for “Common Core State Standards”.

gatesuncf

Another tie to help fuel the CCSS Machine’s agenda? The support of the “America College Promise Act” which includes free community college tuition (community colleges are sold out to the CCSS/CTE alignment), data mining, universal design for learning, and that continues the grinding down of our communities and their citizens.
See their supportive statement: http://cqrcengage.com/uncf/app/write-a-letter?6&engagementId=117276

Another tie? This tie includes two other pro CCSS financial backers. The Walton Foundation and the Koch Foundation. Walton’s program is targets ‘reform’. Helping them out with this agenda? See this excerpt about the Summer Intern Program, “One of the principal elements of the paid summer internship program that exposes Fellows to professional careers at leading K-12 education organizations and schools focused on education reform. Specifically, Fellows are deployed as interns to organizations and schools located in such cities as the District of Columbia, New York, Boston, New Orleans, and Atlanta. Examples of internship host organizations included: Teach for America, New Schools Venture Fund, Paul Public Charter School, BUILD, Black Alliance for Educational Options, Thomas B. Fordham Research Institute, and Stand for Children.” If you’d like more evidence about the Walton/UNCF: http://uncf.org/sites/Walton/index.walton.asp  As far as the Koch Foundation’s interaction, $25 million for scholarships (began in 2014 and will end in 7 years). The scholarships are targeted to those students in post-secondary education and concerned about their communities. There are other parameters. To see more: http://uncfkochscholars.uncf.org/

Now, are you ready for a bit of irony? Even the UNCF has noticed that College/Career Readiness isn’t improving at all, in fact, their July 2015 reports a lag. See: http://www.uncf.org/sections/News/SS_PressReleases/pressrelease_details.asp?prID=420

NCLR, National Council of La Raza:

Their website: http://www.nclr.org/
Their CCSS/CTE ties include so much Common Core and College Career Readiness support, there’s an entire section of the website devoted to it. Complete with the fallacy of the ‘state led’ CCSS. There are plenty of resources on this page, including two You Tube videos. One is from a charter school using CCSS, the other is how the ‘global economy’ is involved. Gee, can we tell where we’ve heard THAT fallacy before?  To see the entire page, complete with the videos, http://www.nclr.org/index.php/issues_and_programs/education/common_core/

From their NCLR blog, here’s the fifth reason they claim teachers love the CCSS:

“If you want your kids prepared for college and career, then you’ll love Common Core State Standards because…They are aligned to higher education standards that demand the skills students need to be successful in college and in their careers. The Common Core State Standards are our best hope for ensuring our kids are well-served and college-ready, but we’ll need all our teachers on board for this effort to be truly successful.”

To see a webinar from 2014 concerning the “Step Up, Step In” (their name for the NCLR campaign in support of CCSS and CCR), set aside at least one hour.

The NCLR also has it’s own type of “Career Pathways” programs, too. Oh, no questioning the CTE ties with this effort! Their support stretches all the way to the WIOA (Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act) as well. See it all for yourselves: http://www.nclr.org/index.php/issues_and_programs/economic_policy/workforce_development_programs/ Be sure you look at their in-depth blog articles about how the community needs to weigh in on education/workforce efforts. Below you’ll find the corporations which advise the NCLR.      ” AT&T; Bank of America; Chevron; Citi; The Coca-Cola Company; Comcast/NBCUniversal/Telemundo; ConAgra Foods, Inc.; Ford Motor Company; General Mills, Inc.; General Motors; JPMorgan Chase; Johnson & Johnson; Kraft Foods; McDonald’s Corporation; MillerCoors LLC; PepsiCo, Inc.;Prudential Financial; Shell; State Farm Insurance Companies; Time Warner Inc.; TOYOTA;  UPS; Verizon; Walmart; and Wells Fargo”

To see the many, many funds the Gates Foundation has granted the NCLR, visit:
http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=La%20Raza

To see the U.S. Dept. of Education’s new checklist, visit: http://www2.ed.gov/documents/family-community/parent-checklist.pdf

Note that every group you, as a parent, are pointed to in this checklist is somehow tied to CCSS/CTE/CCR. Note the IB and AP (International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement) are also tied to the CCSS/CTE/CCR and the UNESCO ‘Education for All’ agendas.
