It’s Saturday Morning

Hello all you Anti Fed Ed Warriors! We’ve reached the next-to-the-last day of 2017. We’ve had many highs and lows in fighting our War Vs the Core this year.

When I last wrote you, you learned about some ways in which not only education, but health care, is being used as tools for total alignment in our lives. The evidence shows a deeply sinister shift toward manipulation of our minds, as well as confinement for our students when it comes to what they will do with their lives.

It is my belief we should be looking more into things like this. Why? We can’t fight what we do not see coming at us.
****************************************************************
In the “Educating Our Health?” article, you were able to see how gaming is being used as a weapon to target students. I also suggested you look at all the other NIH (National Institutes of Health) SEPA (Science Education Partnership Awards) projects which are helping fund moves like this.

For example, while the NIH/SEPA gave NC State University big bucks to create and implement a game bent on steering kids towards pre-determined healthcare careers, funds were awarded in Denver for what’s called ‘citizen science’.

What’s ‘citizen science’? A screen shot below from the Project page (added emphasis is mine)

citizenhealth

Warriors, we’ll get back to the NIH/SEPA later, it’s the thought of ‘citizen science’ I would like to stay in for a little longer. Why? It deals with Saturdays.

My TV On Saturday Mornings:

satmornWarriors, when was the last time you turned on your TVs on Saturday morning and watched? I’ve seen what’s there. IF you have access to the channels where you CAN find cartoons, that’s great. However, what’s the theme underneath those cartoons?

IF you’re like me and you have removed that access, what’s on the antenna channels on Saturday mornings? Education/informational shows! Shows filled with farces and fallacies when it comes to education. How? Read on, Warriors!

**********************************************************************
This is a screen shot of the official Xploration Station TV show. This image I’ve captured lasts only a few seconds before it’s replaced with the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) award-winning show information.

STEMsat

According to the “About Us” video (which continually flashes several images at you in rapid speed, along with a Carl Sagan quote), Xploration Station is where ‘entertainment and science intersect’. If you visit the website, notice that the usually-only-seen-on Fox TV show is also available on Hulu, Amazon, Yahoo, and Netflix. This one show reaches over 4 million people.

Warriors, while I know there are other such shows on Saturday mornings now, I chose to use Xploration Station as an example because of what the spoken content was telling the audience. As the show comes on you hear the introduction of how this show is rated E/I (educational and informative). You also hear how this show is designed for the entire family to get involved in science.

Warriors, Xploration Station also ‘is the country’s ONLY broadcast destination dedicated exclusively to STEM EDUCATION for teens and families.’

Xploration Station has some pretty big partners, too. Zero Gravity (Zero-G) Corporation, National Geographic, and more. If you do not know about Zero Gravity Corporation, go here, scroll down to “About” and read how a former NASA employee started this company. To see the National Geographic information, go here.

Warriors, did you know there are federal education mandates for TV? Below, you’ll see how Xploration Station complies.

satfed

Just before the TV Show first aired (began in 2014), B & C (Broadcast and Cable) reported WHY the Xploration Station was being trotted out for early Saturday mornings.  It was because America, as a nation, was falling behind in STEM education.

Warriors, this one show is a block of at least 2 hours! When ESSA’s (Ever Student Succeeds Act) mandates were signed into law, one of the ones I pointed out was how the push for increased overreach into our homes would be seen. The mandate of 24/7/365 access to technology for educational purposes was not a joke. The mandate for learning anytime, in any location, including your home has become a reality. We not only should ‘starve the beast’, we should turn off the technology!

Meanwhile, At NIH/SEPA:

The mentality of let’s get the entire family on the STEM bandwagon is at a rabid pace.
In Seattle, WA, another SEPA winner has a family specific STEM program. Why? Because enough families aren’t engaged enough with STEM.

The CCSS Machine’s not done with us yet, look what’s coming in 2018:

SEPA2018

To access the grant information for both arms of the NIH programs, go here and here.

If you’re not sure how STEM fits into the CCSS Machine, simply consider this for 2018 and beyond. The UN (United Nations) is a connector.

Warriors, we KNOW the two are connected. Congress may or may not. Evidence proves that regardless of their knowledge of HOW STEM and CCSS are connected, they’ve turned a blind eye. I believe they’ll solider on in compliance to all that is happening in our educational system. Is it wrong? Absolutely! Is it up to us to put a stop to all that we can? Indeed!

Closing:

Warriors, do not simply resolve to fight back against the CCSS Machine in 2018, plan your actions now! The window of opportunity for us to protect our students is closing faster than we want to admit. Be brave in 2018! Stand up in 2018! Speak out, even if your voice shakes. We were not born to be compliant people. We were born a free people. Free, we must remain!

A Response

To my fellow anti CCSS Warriors, by default this includes those against the federally led education overhaul, as well as the global overreaches.

We know, from research, that all this can be traced to one source. The United Nations. By default, that encompasses the UNESCO arm. *UNESCO means United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. (To be precise, the ‘z’ is an American spelling, the official spelling uses a ‘s’.) We also know from research that what we have known as education (academics) is becoming ‘education’ (workforce training).

While I’ve seen many anti CCSS Warriors jump up and down with glee over the U.S. State Department’s announcement that the nation is leaving UNESCO, I am not among them.  I will admit, it SOUNDS like a good move, but as always, the research STILL points to many ties which, UNESCO membership or NOT, the US will still be bound by. I’ll say it now, I am choosing to remain on the ‘offense’ side of this War Vs the Core.

Many media resources happily shared the US’s news about leaving UNESCO, but how many of them included in their headlines that We the People will have to wait until the end of 2018? Do we really think after the many years of the UN’s foundation laying educational overreach, that a measly year will be all it takes to truly be free of UNESCO? The CCSS Machine includes UN/UNESCO.

We have to look beyond the headlines, Warriors!

Some Facts:
1) Go to the U.S. State Dept. website right now and look at their headlining article. It’s not that the US is leaving UNESCO, it’s that we MUST have more STEM, especially for women! This is a UN ‘play by the book’ move, if ever there was one!! In fact, this comes right out of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Tool Kit.  As we know, the SDGs use ‘education’ as a ‘change agent’ for all kinds of indoctrination.

StateSTEM
In this article for Women and STEM, it states just how committed to STEM the Trump Administration is. Warriors, if ever there was a ‘hiding in plain sight’ statement which reveals the continued shift to un-American ideals, it’s that the DC leadership has totally sold out to this. The article also shows how the President has laid a foundation to cement STEM in America with the NSF and NASA programs. (Both are CCSS Machine supportive)

In the State Department’s “Other News”?  Is the fact the US and China are welcoming 3 more partnerships for economic and technology purposes. So, it’s basically an agreement for MORE STEM (although not using the “STEM” acronym). STEM means “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math”.

2) In fact, a few days ago I exposed much about the UNESCO/UN and their STEM and STEAM (STEAM is STEM with the “Arts” embedded.).

3) Following that information, I showed you how the UN/UNESCO, the WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) and the use of technology in a “Matrix” form that’s already embedded in the US (and the rest of the world) and will NOT be going away.

wsisunesco
The yellow circles are highlighting that UNESCO is in charge of each of the categories. This is only 1 page of the WSIS/UN’s joint work. UNESCO is only shown 3 times in this screen shot, HOWEVER, the 3 categories are ICT (Information and Communications Technology), Media , and Knowledge! The black boxes show the SDG #4 which is education for all.

4) The US still owes UNESCO money, over $500 million to be exact. UNESCO uses part of the money it receives to oversee our American historic sites which are considered World Heritage sites.
usdebtunesco

5) UNESCO has several P3s (Public Private Partnerships) involved in the World Heritage Sites. How many of these American or American-tied groups will be willing to leave UNESCO?

6) What about the time between now and when the US leaves UNESCO? Well, the US becomes a kind of silent partner. It’ll be around to keep a watchful eye. HOWEVER, that means ‘education’ will still be up for alignment! Also, there’s a big question about the next UNESCO leader.

7) The UN/UNESCO is really pushing AI (artificial intelligence), especially in ‘education’. This article from the Mirror (UK) is down-right creepy. My fellow anti CCSS Warrior, Alex Newman wrote and spoke about the AI being used to advance 2030 Agenda (of which the SDGs are now a part of. Previously, the SDGs were with Agenda 21, but 2030 is the newer version). Here’s what I found out about AI. Again, all this connects back to the massive WSIS/UN/UNESCO data control you see in #3 above.

8) From 2002, an article detailing why (then) Pres. Reagan removed the US from UNESCO. It appears the concern for media control is almost being overlooked in our current situation. This won’t be going away simply because our current Administration plans to remove America from UNESCO.

2002UNESCO

9) The infamous UNESCO/Gates ‘Cooperation Agreement haunts us to the this day. It is THE single most telling root of the UNESCO plan for American ‘education’! This shift is SO embedded in America, thanks to WIOA(Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), and HEA (Higher Education Act) (to name a few laws), that our extraction from UNESCO won’t mean anything different. Add to this the UNESCO (Huxley) idea of what American education should become. After all, it plays right into the UNESCO/Gates Agreement.

schaflyarticle
Also thanks to the UN, our individual States have ‘pimped out’ their schools. In this article, I show you how MN went first back in the 1980s.
Finally, for #9, the UNESCO Publication 356. It lays out what ‘global education’ should be like. There’s a tremendous emphasis on ‘commonalities’. (*Note: I couldn’t find a date of publication, but this document has been around a while.)

10) Back in the 1960s (87th Congress), there was no problem with announcing the UNESCO was Communism after our children. So, what has happened between then and now to go from ‘no way’ to ‘hey, have our kids’?! The CCSS Machine is what’s happened!

11) Back in 2010, (then) U.S. Sec. of Education, Arne Duncan addressed UNESCO. Consider his remarks and how they fit into what was being coerced upon our States. Add to that the 2014 UNESCO Report for how far the shift to Universal Design for Learning (embedded in ESSA) had progressed.

What about Secretaries King and DeVos? Have they spoken out to stop UNESCO? Dr. King is currently the head of The Education Trust which is heavily funded by Bill Gates and other CCSS Machine members. Also at the Education Trust is Amber Arellano. Her biography at the Ed Trust reveals she was previously at the UN’s High Commissioner on Human Rights.

DeVos is mentioned in this Truth in American Education article as well as Sec. Tillerson (State Dept.) as ‘playing’ President Trump with ‘education’. The UN has recognized DeVos’s family business (Amway) as one of the top companies in the world practicing biodiversity (a big component of the SDGs). Be sure to listen to the entire video below. It is from the late 1980s.

Below is a screen shot for you so you can see the other UN accolades for Amway:

AmwayUN

12) UNESCO and aligning teachers has been happening for quite a while. HOWEVER, it will not go away just because the US is leaving UNESCO. In fact, in 2015, the Incheon Declaration was made for all Member States and their commitment to adhering to the SDGs (Warriors, remember, education is Goal #4). As 2030 Agenda compliance dictates, that means our US teachers will have to have their professional development align!

You can see the International Task Force on Teachers (formed 2008, as part of the Onslo EFA (Education For All) meeting) Part 2 Strategy Plan. The Plan was completed in 2016.

Closing:

Warriors, I realize this may not be a well received article. Truth usually isn’t easy to hear. I do have some optimism about the US leaving UNESCO, but with all this evidence, I am being very cautious in my thinking. I think we all should be cautious. I know we all MUST speak the truth about the CCSS Machine. I want to thank the many dedicated Warriors who supplied their documents for this article.

*I purposefully chose to NOT use any type of wording or featured picture which could alert social media as to my topic. I know it has the distinct possibility of being blocked. When you share, please keep this in mind.

“Here I Stand, I Can Do No Other”

No, Warriors, I haven’t confused two historic figures. Yes, the picture you see is Joan of Arc. The title you read is a hat tip to Martin Luther as he nailed his 95 Points on that church door so long ago. If you have been following me long on my blog, or on social media, you know I have long identified with Joan’s fierceness. As far as Martin’s boldness? Yes, I’m about to go there.

A Certain Recent Release:

The President has recently released his 2018 Federal Budget Blueprint. It’s creating quite a buzz. You also know that in past federal budget releases, I’ve also gone over them.
In-depth and not unwilling to expose the alignment to the CCSS Machine.

The reality that the current President has promised to rid us of Common Core and yet padded the Administration with pro CCSS members, certainly has given us pause.

Trump’s promise for more jobs should also give us pause. Why? With the distinct presence of WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), ESSA (Every Student Succeeds), HEA (Higher Education Act); the federal money in place right NOW funneling through each of these; the CCSS Machine up to its neck in all 3, we need to be pointing to the same priorities:

a) Workforce based education IS here, playing out daily. It plays out not only through Common Core, but Career Tech Education, STEM, Next Gen, and so many other areas.
b) It’s playing out in employment centers, community colleges, our public-private partnerships, job development programs, and so many other places.
c) It comes in the form of SEL (social, emotional learning), CBE (competency based education), PBLs (project based learning), and constant over assessments for skills to meet some business’s idea of what a human should be able to do.

For the President to rid us of ‘Common Core’, he needs to be ready to rid us of ALL the connections. Think how many times we’ve heard and said, ‘follow the money’.

Since D.C. is a favored conduit of the CCSS Machine, we know a lot of evidence is waiting to be exposed. Federal budgets have lots of money…and lots of evidence we can trace.

Every day we hesitate, the more ingrained the CCSS Machine becomes in the new Administration. Warriors, we saw the CCSS Machine take up residence in D.C. during the previous Administration. The Machine is STILL there.

Warriors, do not simply look at the Blueprint’s ‘Dept. of Education’ budget items. Read the WHOLE thing.

I wish I could tell you that the CCSS presence has been eliminated with Mr. Trump’s Blueprint. It hasn’t.

Flummox Awaits Us:

(*Note: ‘flummox’ is an old word for being bewildered or perplexed.)

Flummox #1): So, in Trump’s Blueprint, did ‘Common Core’ get the axe? Not by name. There were some things involving CCSS, but not too many. Warriors, eliminating CCSS in one area (no matter how huge), means it survives elsewhere.

Flummox #2): Did the Dept. of Ed receive cuts? Yes, but are those cuts enough? That, my Warriors, remains to be seen.

Flummox #3): While the President’s Blueprint is not the entire Federal Budget, the word ‘blueprint’ suggests that what the President wants may be changed by Congress.

When will “We the People” get to see the entire 2018 federal budget? What other CCSS Machine ties will be revealed when We see it? Will We have time to influence Congress or will it be too late?

degrees

A First Glance At The Blueprint:

Mr. Trump has identified (in the opening pages of the Blueprint) that the following federally funded activities/groups/services will be eliminated if his Budget requests are approved.

I’ve researched each of of these and have proven their CCSS ties. I’ve provided the previous published articles so you can go back and read just how deep those CCSS ties go. We’ll need to know which groups will be spinning the pro-CCSS rhetoric in the coming days.)

National Endowment of the Humanities

National Endowment of the Arts

PBS (proof)
*Note: be sure to scroll down to see PBS’s embedding in ESSA.

Institute of Library and Museum Services
*Note: there are at least 2 other related articles mentioned in this one. Find them here and here.
We should also note the question posed in the ‘Services’ article. If local areas cannot match federal funds, services like your libraries will close.

Woodrow Wilson International Center of Scholars (my article delved into the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Program. Both are under the same logo.) In the Blueprint, it is unclear how and if the International funding cut will impact the entire Woodrow Wilson organization.

21st Century Community Learning Centers
*Note: of the many articles surrounding 21stCCLCs, this is probably the most relevant considering the Blueprint.

Be sure to see the other connections you’ll also see in the Blueprint. Also remember, Warriors, 21st CCLCs are codified in ESSA. Will Trump’s elimination of CCSS, repeal ESSA?!

Blueprint Agency Items “I Can Do No Other With”:

Martin Luther’s passion for truth and his boldness for making the evidence public drove him to state the declaration you see above. I like that boldness. While he found 95 pieces of evidence for action,  I’ve been able to identify 85 Concerns in the President’s Blueprint.  Here is the link to my special Guide detailing them.

To use the Guide, simply open the link. All red highlighted words will have several of my previously published articles which directly relate to each of the Agencies in the Blueprint.

Use the research to help you formulate your dissent to seeing MORE Common Core (and all its related entities) continued in the 2018 Budget!

Use any of the research to help you create a way to help remind the President of his campaign promise to rid us of Common Core. To rid us of the name only, solves nothing.

Lastly, share the Guide, as you see fit. Knowledge about the CCSS Machine is what keeps us powerful. We should be making as much of a protest about the Blueprint as we did about the new Secretary of Education’s confirmation.

No, we should be making MORE noise. We should demand a full repeal of any and all federal activity overreaching into education.

Warriors, it will take MORE than alerting the Oval Office with our priorities. We need to be ‘nailing these points to Congress’s doors. We need to be shouting these pieces of evidence boldly.

Warriors, we must do all of this. To do less, is something we should not permit. To take a ‘wait and see’ attitude could be dangerous to our fellow citizens.
Why? The federal budget impacts every age group, not a select few. With so much of the CCSS Machine still in our education, we must be a modern day Martin Luther of Joan of Arc.

The Road Ahead

To my fellow anti Fed Ed Warriors, we find that February 2017 is winding down. It’s been a busy month for us. We’ve seen education history made, we’ve uncovered new evidence that our American education is disappearing into the global landscape, and we are about to see what OTHER moves our U.S. Congress is making to continue its ‘Educated Workforce’  shift via CTE, Career Tech Education, CP, Career Pathways, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and CC (Career Clusters).

(*Note, the above highlighted link will take you to all my published articles where you can search on your own for the documented research. Of most importance are the articles with a 2016 date stamp, most of these are still in the wings to be passed into law.)

We’ve Seen The Road Behind Us, What’s Ahead?

Currently, Warriors, Congress has several Workforce/Education Bills which have been introduced. From this group, most are in Committees. Below, the most concerning.

HR 52, “Earn While You Learn” or “Jobs, On-the-Job  ‘Earn While You Learn’ Training, and Apprenticeships for African-American Young Men Act”.  This Bill targets the African American male population (ages 18 to 39) while rebuilding America’s infrastructure. HR 52 will bring in skill based apprenticeships. The CCSS Machine also includes apprenticeships. Many of America’s Labor Unions are also named in this Bill.
Labor Unions have strong ties with the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Some of them also support Common Core. During the previous Administration’s term, CTE, The Dept. of Labor, and some specific Unions joined forces for aligning education to workforce needs.

HR56, “America RISING” or “America Realizing the Informational Skills and Initiative of New Graduates Act of 2017”, will strengthen STEM in the workforce. You won’t see STEM as it is written, but you will see the components of it. Here’s an excerpt,  “Enabling recent college graduates to obtain employment with small businesses benefits the national economy by providing such businesses the human capital and technical expertise needed to compete and win in the global economy of the 21st century.”
You also need to know the ‘tag team’ of the U.S. Departments of Labor/Education will work together to make this Bill a reality.

S144, “Promise Zone Job Creation Act of 2017”, this Bill amends an IRS tax code to pave the way for creating more Promise Zone Neighborhoods. Several of the federal agencies already in the CCSS Machine’s grasp are involved in the designation of where new Promise Zones will be. This means data tracking, mining, and sharing; it means aligned education for workforce needs; and, manipulating communities. Promise Zones were codified as federal law when ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act was passed.) If you missed my article tying Promise Zones to more than ESSA, find it here.

Road Trip to President’s Desk:

H.R.321“Inspiring the Next Space Pioneers, Innovators, Researchers, and Explorers  Women Act” or “INSPIRE Act” is on its way to becoming a federal law. It also has a sister Senate Bill, S42. These two Bills target women as well as young boys and girls for STEM, espcially with NASA. If you are not sure how NASA is sold out to Common Core , see this.

fencemessage

Future Road Trip Stops:

HR280, amends the WIOA of 2014 (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and supposedly will help dislocated workers find new jobs or start a small business. Why this bears watching: a) what part of taxpayer funds will be used for education/training and b) what part of the ‘consulting’ to take place will use data tracking/mining. If you missed how WIOA, ESSA, and Higher Education Act (HEA) are intertwined, look here.

HR159, if you have anyone interested in zoology, veterinarians, or wildlife study as an early college, college, graduate or higher education degree, you’ll want to see how they will be ‘encouraged’ to strengthen the workforce. The Depts. of Interior, Education, and Labor are connected to this Bill.

HR49, this Bill would create jobs while tapping into America’s natural oil and gas supply in Alaska. As we know, many Alaskans are Native Americans. Much of Alaska is also protected land via the U.S. National Parks. This Bill combines the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Dept. of the Interior, the Dept. of Labor, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife. Anytime you see ‘job creation’ remember that education/skill based workforce will be in the mix somewhere. No exceptions. If you missed how the Native Americans have been ensnared in the CCSS Machine, find that here. (HR228 is closely related. Called the “Indian Employment, Training and Related Services Consolidation Act of 2017”, it amends a 1992 version. Education for workforce is included. The Senate has a sister bill.)

Other job creation/education related Bills:

HR353 (weather/science, STEM workforce)
S129 (Sea Colleges/oceans, STEM workforce)
HR533 (creates jobs/sets corporate income tax rates based off OECD, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development information; watch for public/private partnerships for education/jobs)
HR272 (Amends Title 20 of the Social Security Act for grants to create jobs. Also involves education. The Depts. of Labor, Commerce, and Education are cited)
HR338 (creates 21st Century  jobs for manufacturing and energy. Educated, skill based workers are the target results)
HR419 allows for manufacturing businesses which help pay for education/training to have tax credits)
HR150 (amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to have skilled/specialized temporary workers.Ironically it is called the “Protect and Grow American Jobs Act”)
HR758 (targets U.S. Veterans for career transitions. Veterans and their educational funds are tied into Perkins Funding which is what CTE is also tied to in post-secondary institutions)
HR328 (also targets our U.S. Service men and women. This one will steer them toward STEM via renewable energy jobs)

Closing:

Warriors, time and time again,  we’ve connected the CCSS Machine to the UN/UNESCO shift toward global education. A big component of global education is STEM. STEM wraps up the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals rather ‘nicely’.

As I look back on the above Bills, I see a host of STEM, CTE, and a sad road of aligned education for workforce based drudgery for our nation.

*Note: I’ll be providing a follow up article to “Calling Mother!” (was published 2/19/17) very soon. I’ve been given vital anti CCSS/fed ed/global ed information. Between “Mother” and the “Road Ahead”, this information will connect more dots for us to use in our War Vs. The Core.

WYBI? Tying STEM to CCSS…Again

For my return to “Would You Believe It?!” Wednesdays,  I’ll share with you how the STEM Education Act of 2015  ties back to Common Core Standards. If you’ve followed my blog long enough, you are aware of the numerous times I’ve given you documented evidence of how STEM, STEM to STEAM, are all   aligned with CCSS. (Did you know there’s now a STEM to STREAM? (It stands for Science, Technology, R______, Arts, and Math).

STEM, by way of Common Core..and not in a distant galaxy.
STEM, by way of Common Core..and not in a distant galaxy.

So, What is the STEM Education Act of 2015?

If you haven’t heard of this new federal law, it became such on October 8, 2015. In a nutshell, the law states that STEM must now include computer science. While that sounds perfectly innocent, there’s more to this law than a simple course addition. You wouldn’t need a federal law for that.

Here’s one of the ‘there’s more’ statements: “to support existing STEM education programs at the National Science Foundation.” Now, before I go on, let me clarify that this statement is only a short version, or a summary of the law. If you were to stop there, again, you’d think ”this doesn’t sound bad”.
But, let’s look at the Act itself. Here are the other organizations this extends STEM to. “For purposes of carrying out STEM education activities at the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the Environmental Protection Agency.”  These cover STEM in formal education settings, but wait..the new law covers STEM in informal settings as well. As in museums, camps, or anywhere else you can have an informal learning environment. Here’s the direct language, “improve STEM  learning outcomes and increase engagement for K– 12 students, K–12 teachers, and the general public,  including design and testing of the scalability of  models, programs, and other resources.” You’ll also want to read how the Master Teaching Fellows are included. Read the new law:

So, Where are the CCSS Connections?

Back in June 2015, I wrote an article after attending an education conference. Here is the one sentence expert from that article that ties NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) not only to STEM, but CCSS, as well: “NASA’s CCSS/STEM statement: http://spacemath.gsfc.nasa.gov/media.html
If you’d like to read the rest of the article and where I found more CCSS/STEM ties:

NOAA: When I searched the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website, I was able to find an entire library of NOAA, CCSS resources. See: http://search.usa.gov/search?affiliate=oceanexplorer.noaa.gov&query=common+core+state+standards
If you want to see their STEM resources, http://search.usa.gov/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&affiliate=oceanexplorer.noaa.gov&query=STEM+&commit=Search
NOAA even has the Next Generation Science Standards! See: http://search.usa.gov/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&affiliate=oceanexplorer.noaa.gov&query=Next+Generation+Science+Standards

EPA, The Environmental Protection Agency:

Their website is on you should certainly check out. Why? This agency is not only ‘big’ in education, but its ‘big’ into our communities as well. See their ‘students’ page.
http://www2.epa.gov/students If you visit there, notice how they are classifying their offerings for education. It’s called ‘Environmental Education’. See that page: http://www2.epa.gov/education

What might be of particular interest is their rather dated pdf on aligning EPA issues with those of educational standards. As they put it, ‘Aligning EE Resources to National and State Curriculum Standards’. In this document (from the days of NCLB), you will find the FCAT assessment, the ASCD (Gates Foundation funded educational company), and more! Please make note the EPA used the 1983 “Nation At Risk” report, and Americans questioning education as reasons to align their resources with education. The report concludes with how the EPA planned on continuing to align with education in the future. Get the document, EPAalign
You may find the Washington Post’s article about the EPA CCSS aligned reading materials a bit ‘snarky’. After all, who wouldn’t want to replace classic reading materials with insulation guides? See: https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/compost/wp/2012/12/07/the-common-cores-70-percent-nonfiction-standards-and-the-end-of-reading/

The PCAST Report:

Rather than continue on with how each of the named federal agencies are tied to CCSS, I want to go back to when I first began to blog about fighting CCSS. After years of in-depth research, and sharing in among a few people also fighting CCSS, I was encouraged to go national with the sharing. Hence, the blog. One of the first articles was the original tie between STEM and Common Core. Since then, I’ve referred to it a lot. Why? Because that PCAST report laid out how the need for a STEM nation would use the, then, new ‘common standards’. Here’s an excerpt you might appreciate, “Nuggets of information include clear bipartisan support in the need for education reform in general (page vi); on page v, increasing federal involvement in education and a presence of public private partnerships is also brought into play. I found it interesting that the P3s were mentioned before the states.”
Be sure to read this one, warriors. You’ll especially want to see point #3, where the 2 prongs and 5 overarching priorities are laid out. Read: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/09/02/from-the-files-pcast-stem-and-common-core/

If that’s not enough ‘evidence’, be sure to go back and read the 3 part series I wrote about the STEM, STEAM, and CCSS.

What About the Computer Science?

Notice in the new law it specifically adds computer science. How is computer science aligned to CCSS now? I found the Computer Science Teachers Association‘s map of each course in computer science and  its place in the CCSS. Get the map,

You might be interested to know that the CSTA has ‘completed crosswalks’ with Google, Linux, Oracle, and Tech Corps. See: http://www.csta.acm.org/Curriculum/sub/CompletedCrosswalks.html
You can also see the CSTA map of the Computer Science courses aligned to STEM.
Get that map: CSTA_Standards_Mapped_to_STEM_Cluster_Topics-2
If you’d like to see the CSTA sponsors, see:
http://www.csta.acm.org/Sponsorship/sub/MeetOurSponsors.html
You shouldn’t be surprised to see Google and Microsoft among the sponsors, but you may be surprised that the College Board is also a sponsor. Warriors, remember, the College Board is funded by each state!

STEM to STREAM?

Above, you can see I have given you much information about the STEM to STEAM shift. But STREAM??  If we look at the EdWeek article, notice the ‘R’ could stand for ‘religion’, or ‘reading and writing’, etc. Is there a more non-Gates funded perspective to what the ‘R’ subject may be?
The National Writing Project has their opinion, ‘ agencies also realized that adding the arts to STEM is not enough. We also need to add the thinking skills embodied in reading and writing. STEAM may condense into STREAM!’ This project also states how the National Endowment for the Arts, the NSF helped with the ‘A’ in the “STEAM”. Refer back to the above STEM to STEAM articles to see how CCSS aligned both these groups are.
In 2014, Huffington Post shared their take on STREAM. Reading took the ‘R’. This article also shared how essential to the ‘core’ ELA (English Language Arts) has been. Read the article, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rob-furman/stem-needs-updated-to-str_b_5461814.html

In my researched opinion, it appears the STREAM, just like the other standards based education reforms, needs proper vetting BEFORE they are made into law, but more importantly BEFORE they are EVER introduced into our classrooms!!

Terrific Tuesday! Anti CCSS News

Both the HR5 AND the HEA re-authorizations are being fast tracked!
Both the HR5 AND the HEA re-authorizations are being fast tracked!

Hi Anti CCSS Warriors, it’s been a whirlwind of busy times for the CC Diva, but have no fear, I’m back with anti Common Core news you can use!! I’m breaking from the my “From the Files” Tuesday to bring you important information. Please read on….

Fresh from the News:

The HR5, aka “Every Child Succeeds” Act (the most current name to the re-authorization of No Child Left Behind) is set to be back in front of our Congress members in the upcoming week. However, don’t stop there. The HEA, aka “Higher Education Act” re-authorization is ALSO being fast tracked. Why? Well for starters, BOTH are being re-written by the SAME pro CCSS/CTE Congress member. At least he’s heading up the re-write team. Sen. Alexander has a long track record of education reform that’s down right scary. Many anti CCSS warriors, myself included, have warned of his activity, some for a very long time, and others, more recent.

While the HR5 has gotten most of the spotlight due to the K-12th grade nature, please don’t overlook the post-secondary bill or think the CCSS/CTE moves begun in the HR5 will stop once your student graduates high school. Far from it, the purpose and intent is to CONTINUE the CCSS/CTE pipeline from one bill to the other! All the curriculum alignment, the assessments, and the data mining are locked in from PreK-20. But, stop to consider, what if I’m an older adult seeking to go back and earn a degree from a post-secondary school.. you’ll be in the pipeline too!

While I Was Away:

When I last posted it was a few days ago. Since then I’ve attended an out of state educational conference which catered to home educators. While Common Core wasn’t a main feature I did observe quite a bit of the CC in plain sight. Trouble was, not many noticed the Standards presence. Why is this an anti CCSS warrior’s concern? The CCSS Machine likes to be stealthy in being among those who educate in ALL school settings.

While those who brought up the fact they’d left the public school system in this state to home educate, most said they were anxious to find virtual schools or being placed in magnet schools, especially the STEM ones. Please do not misunderstand, I am NOT criticizing these school choices. What I’m pointing out is, that we, as anti CCSS warriors need to step up our game and help as many know and understand that ALL school choices have (or can have) CCSS/CTE in them.

For example, all school choices have access to many textbooks, virtual or physical. All school choices have teacher development workshops they can be a part of. (*Note: Not, the development for a home educator will not look like the ones a more traditional educator has, but I can speak from personal experience that I’ve attended workshops hosted by my state’s wildlife resources department where I was shoulder to shoulder with educators spanning the gamut of school choice and including elder care leaders. ) All school choices have field trips, camps, and other extra curricular events. The CCSS Machine has rolled out their agenda in a community wide effort. This includes our libraries, museums, and camps like STEM ones.  Proof has been offered to document each one of these facts. Again, others who are adamantly anti CCSS/CTE, myself included, have shared this knowledge. Don’t forget free curricula that’s CCSS/CTE aligned is also available to all school choices. For example, the Smithsonian Institution, the Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities (separate endowments), MIT online courses, Teaching Tolerance, and others all are CCSS/CTE aligned.

An example of the free online curricula available to all school choices and CCSS aligned.

The Slick Goody Bags:

Another surefire way to identify CCSS/CTE while I was at this conference was via the slick ads in the goody bag I received once I walked in.  You know these bags, they’re the ones filled with ads for this company and that. Ads which help sell you on why this educational opportunity is the best thing since dirt was invented. As seasoned anti CCSS warriors, we should know what to look for that are easily recognized clues. Why? So we can help others learn to spot the CCSS Machine’s slick sales job!
The ones from my goody bag that I spotted right away:

NASA, the clues? STEM camps, classes and educator workshops, a Smithsonian Institute partner, Boy Scouts partner (yes, even the Boy Scouts are choosing to align to CCSS, that’s recent news, too.I’ll share more on that in a bit), and the fact that I’d already connected NASA to CCSS. In the slick brochure it was evident that these opportunities are available to all educational choices..including homeschoolers. The sad news: you pay for these opportunities, sometimes in pricey sums.

The CLEP brochure, the clues? The College Board logo. (*Note:Once upon a time, CLEP (meaning College Level Exam Program), was an ideal choice as an assessment for all school choices, but most especially home educated ones. ) As seasoned anti CCSS warriors, we know David Coleman is the ‘mastermind’ at College Board, but do others? The vast array of CCSS/CTE aligned CLEPs include: some foreign languages, science, math, composition, business, history, social sciences, and literature. The sad news: you pay to take these assessments.

Mr. D Math, the clue? SAT boot camps. The sad news? This former public school teacher has written not assessments for a HI public school rooted in the P20 community agenda, but has been featured in the RefinED publication discussing the 21st century math teacher. (*Note: RefinED is an active partner to the American Center for School Choice which is a social justice, education reform Walton family funded group. Walton is a known CCSS supporter)

Liberty University’s Dual Enrollment, the clue? The phrase ‘dual enrollment’. The sad news? I’d researched Liberty University in a previously published article exposing their CCSS alignment, especially in their education majors.

There are other slick brochures I can share, but that will be a follow up post for a later time.

Links to use to help educate others where CCSS/CTE is openly hiding:

Helping the Boy Scouts with virtual badges is the Computer Science Student Network. Their CCSS tie? Carnegie Mellon University and DARPA (a special arm of the Dept. of Defense) (*Note: We already learned as anti CCSS warriors that the DofD is participating in student data mining)
