Prerogatives Not Needed

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, have you ever looked at your children and told them that one day they would grow up and go work for ‘The Man’? Have you ever looked in the mirror and told yourself, ‘Gee, I’m glad I have to earn money for my boss today.”?

wannabees

Certainly not! What I imagine you’ve told them is the same thing you were told, ‘Go to school, get good grades and then see where life takes you’. For some of us, it was straight to work. Others left and went on to college. Some folks elected to do both, while others took a break and ‘found themselves’ before ‘getting on track’.

Warriors, these were all prerogatives for us. We had some choices, but they were OUR choices. In today’s educratic system, NO ONE has a true prerogative anymore. Some test tells Johnny and/or Suzy what they must complete in school  now to work somewhere else later. By the time the kids are in middle school, they already know where their future income is coming from.

For us as grownups? Our future’s just as aligned. We’re told we must update our ‘credentials’ via courses. We’re constantly monitored for ‘quality control’.

Every single education/job move we make isn’t so much about our U.S. Constitutionally guaranteed right to ‘pursue happiness’, it’s about checking off the boxes on a pre-determined list of where we’ll fit in best when it comes to the CCSS Machine.

This type of conformity appears to be the true goal of the merger between the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Labor. However, the conformity doesn’t END there.

We, the Anti Fed Ed Warriors, owe a huge debt of gratitude to a fierce Warrior, Karen Bracken. She created a ‘short and sweet’ petition to protest the planned merger. It was released Sunday, June 24th. As of today, June 27th, the petition has just over 1,000 signatures. Not only did I sign the petition, I’ve joined her in getting the word out as much as humanly possible. While 1,000 citizens speaking up is great, we’ve got to have 100,000 JUST to be recognized by the White House.
karenwords

Warriors, if we don’t speak LOUDLY, we cannot have a seat at the table to help STOP the merger!! The CCSS Machine cannot be allowed to continue this cycle of robbing our children (and ourselves) of our prerogatives as Americans!

ESSAskel

The framework to realign our federal government has a plethora of ways to continue the overreach into our lives. How? The biggest ‘change agent’ on the planet is education. (The source for THAT ‘sentiment’? The United Nations)

From what I found and can easily tie back to the CCSS Machine, the framework supporting the President’s Executive Order #13781 has close to 20 ways in which education is woven throughout. How?? Jobs and economy. My top 3 (based on research) are below:

eoframeworkedu

Many of the other ways in which the framework supports MORE educratic overreach surfaced back in 2017. When I researched and wrote that article, it was to detail the many federal departments with plans to align education to workforce, NOT simply Education and Labor! The framework for the President’s restructure has some of these same agencies shifting. The danger is simply this:

With existing alignment plans in place, how many will survive the moves to their ‘new homes’??? How many will be strengthened? How many will continue the ‘student data rape’ between the SLDS (Student Longitudinal Data System) and the WQDI (Workforce Quality Data Initiative? Will any of these aligned plans DIE in the moves?

complaceny

Warriors Speaking Out:

Recently, I made several posts and a few FB live videos to raise the truth about HOW this type of overreach is playing out. (*Note:  my live feeds aren’t professionally created. They are from my heart and passion about helping inform you with TRUTH. Yes, I make mistakes in them. The bottom line is not my popularity, it IS our nation. It IS our children. It IS about us. It IS my duty as an American to stand up and SPEAK OUT!)
homemadeantied

There are others speaking out about the fallacy of the merger. The most recent is from my friends and fellow Warriors at Freedom Project Media. My Warrior friend Nicholas Tampio has this to say. If you represent a group and wish to sign a letter directed to the President, go here. Nancy Bailey’s article protesting the merger shows how corporations ‘win’ while our kids suffer. Cheri Kiesecker’s written a scathing look at the merger for Missouri Education Watchdog.

We know Congress is acting like animals in heat over CTE (Career Tech Education) . They’re foaming at the mouth telling the nation how desperately we all need MORE CTE in our lives.  Below, is what fellow Warrior, Dr. Victoria Young posted on Facebook. (added emphasis is mine)

drvictoria
To see the 2017 article, that’s here. To see the May 2018, go here.

The brutal honest truth is this: CTE is Common Core Workforce Training.

ctefail

If you think the Ed/Labor merger will ‘bring back vocational schools’ like you may remember them to be, the merger won’t. I’ve shown you through years of research how ‘vocational schools’ were re-branded TO Career Tech Education. It was when Common Core’s alignment AND standards were inserted. The merger WILL only INCREASE the amounts of workforce aligned education FOR every AMERICAN. Not just public K-12th grade students. If you think private education, homeschooling, on-line schooling are exempt, I urge you to realize that BOTH education AND labor will cover preK to grave for every American.

kjosquote

Closing:

American education has been creating ‘new levels of mediocrity’ since the U. S. Ed Dept was created. The merger will create an even newer level of conformity with workforce training taking the place of academics.

The merger will do exactly what I’ve warned you before: scatter education programs like cockroaches all over DC. As hard as it would be to close U.S. Dept. of Ed and U.S. Dept. of Labor, RIGHT now, merging will bury ALL the overreaches so we may NEVER be free of federal overreaches!! The best plan, is REPEAL ESSA first, Restore FERPA, THEN begin to close the illegally based departments DOWN!

puffin

DC is convinced that ALL education is workforce development, therefore all education must be aligned. Forget Johnny’s or Suzy’s ability to think freely or read well. Forget your ability to be able to pursue your own happiness. The goal is conformity for economic gain.

bowl-of-stupid

Warriors, don’t let another minute pass..go to the petition page, sign, confirm, and share!! A whopping 84% of Americans opposed Common Core and the federal overreach. Where are you now?! Don’t let your child’s prerogatives die at the hands of Congress. Don’t allow your freedoms to be sacrificed at the corporate altar.

A Nation Scorned

In the waning days of November 2016, there are many  mixed emotions among us as the Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors.

No doubt you’ve seen days worth of articles both in support of President-elect Trump’s choice for the U.S. Secretary of Education AND opposition of his choice. Most of the Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors have been extremely diligent in bringing forth much needed evidence as to WHY Mrs. DeVos is a TERRIBLE education champion, yet this evidence is ignored by Mr. Trump and his Transition Team.

In the days since the announcement, once again, the suggestion that Bill Evers is the BEST choice for the Secretary of Education has been raised. Others, like myself have suggested Dr. Peg Luksik as superior in choice. Not only has Dr. Peg been an educator in almost every grade level created, she’s written tons of reports, spoken numerous times, been featured as an expert witness as to WHY national standards, school choice, and over assessing ARE BAD for AMERICA. She’s even created a paper for HOW to end the ‘fed-led-ed’!! That can be accessed here: statement-on-education-policy

Warriors, the bottom line: We CAN storm our Congress to deny DeVos as Ed Boss! We raised holy hell when it was Dr. King up for confirmation! Yes, he was still confirmed, but we narrowed the margin of ‘yes’ to ‘no’ votes quite a bit. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN! I’ve seen posts on social media during Thanksgiving urging us to call our Senators. There was a petition started to. (As of this writing, there are only 10 signatures and a goal of 100 signatures.) See: https://www.change.org/p/donald-trump-rescind-nomination-of-betsy-devos-to-education-secretary

Put aside the worn out “Make America Great Again” when it comes to education. Education in America can be NO less than ‘SUPERB’. ‘Great’ is a mere shadow of ‘superb’.

IF and only IF the Trump Team wants to end federal overreach in education, then they MUST listen to us, as Warriors, NOT the educrats with fists full of agenda and money. As of yet, I’ve seen no one successful in having the upcoming administration contact any of us who have DAILY contacted them.

Contacting U.S. Senate is accessible: http://www.senate.gov/senators/contact/
*Note: any Senator who voted for ESSA needs even more pressure. Mrs. DeVos is good buddies with Sen. Lamar Alexander, too.

Bottom line: We, as Warriors are like David vs. Goliath on steroids. That said we MUST be consistent, in large number, and visible. To win this battle in the War Vs the Core, we have to be seen AND heard!

Scorned? Use These Facts!

1) Common Core IS  located in more than traditional K-12 public schools!
2) Common Core has been rebranded so many times, the educrats not only know the buzzwords, they use them against the nation!
3) Common Core IS Career Tech Education! Common Core IS competency based, project based, collaborative efforts which groom students for workforce NOT academics!
4) Common Core IS written into the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), and is present in the HEA (Higher Education Act). Of these 3, only the HEA remains to be completely re-authorized. It is the LAST nail to be hammered into the ‘seamless transition for birth to career education’ to create ‘a bridge for lifelong learning’!

More Scorn:
1) My dear friend, Kevin Ohlandt, at “Exceptional Delaware” wrote this about the DeVos appointment:

6) My dear friend, Alice Linahan at Voices Empower, shared this detailed set of facts:
Search for her Trump/DeVos Truth article at http://www.voicesempower.com/
7) My good friend, Nancy E. Bailey, also shared with the nation why the choice of DeVos is highly suspect: http://nancyebailey.com/2016/11/26/privatization-and-school-buses-thoughts-please-betsy-devos/
8) Breibart News’ article features a good friend of mine, Karen Braun. Karen lives in Michigan and has been fighting CCSS since before it was dubbed “CCSS”. Pay attention to her part of the article:
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/11/23/bush-praises-trump-choice-betsy-devos-education-secretary/ (*Note: we also need to note the other parts of the article where vouchers/education savings accounts are going to be spun as ‘great’ when they are truly not.)
9) Here’s what Forbes has: http://www.forbes.com/sites/chasewithorn/2016/11/23/trump-picks-betsy-devos-daughter-in-law-of-billionaire-amway-cofounder-for-education-secretary/#4830ee4f5313 (*Note: the Jeb Bush ties surface again.)

Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors, if you see nothing else from this small list of informative facts, NOTICE, far left or far right; on the fringes or in the middle, the same conclusion: DeVos as Ed Boss is a disaster for our nation!

The DeVos 990 Forms:

While you may find my article, so far, scornful or just plain annoying, you cannot argue with what the 990 Tax Forms for DeVos show. My dear friend/researcher Karen Bracken has provided the following evidence.

In short: 2012’s IRS Form 990 show:

$10,000.00 to Bridges of Understanding Foundation (exposes her ties to the Muslim teachings in schools.)

$50,000.00 to FEE (Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence, which supports school choice, education savings accounts AND Common Core!)

$10,000.00 to the Heritage Foundation (which is a huge education savings accounts/school choice proponent and an entity we’ve been warned about as being part of the education problem, not solution.)

From 2013’s IRS 990:

$20,000.00 to  Bridges of Understanding Foundation, $100,000.00 to FEE, and $5,000.00 to Heritage.

To see the 2012 form: 2012-irs-990

To see the 2013 form: 2012-irs-990

As far as can be proven, the 2014 Tax Documents were extended to November 2016.

DeVos as  Digitally Connected?

We all know, as Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors, that the digital transformation in American education is a huge plank in the bridge for workforce aligned, global citizens. As a ‘change agent’ for transformative education, DeVos will have a key position IF she gets the job. However, Trump has stated he wants transformation AND innovation in education.

Warriors, Obama has laid a large digital technology net in his education initiatives! The CCSS Machine has spent billions in creating digital overload. ESSA continues both Obama’s digital overreach as well as the CCSS Machine’s!

Trump’s also been contacted early on by the Center for Education Reform to continue the innovations/digital technology via ‘incentives’. Warriors, ESSA, WIOA, and HEA (in its current form) all embed and continue the data for a workforce based education.

So, how does DeVos possibly fit into this puzzle even more so?
For a brief illustration, look below:

Warriors, regardless of anything or anyone, our goal/focus MUST remain on our students of all ages and making sure the system which has marginalized us, doesn’t get the opportunity to scorn them.

Weekend News: CCSS Rumors Abound, at Least in NC

The CCSS Machine certainly has made the most out of the media frenzy to help its cause.
The CCSS Machine certainly has made the most out of the media frenzy to help its cause.

Warriors Against the Core, maybe you saw it this past week, and maybe you didn’t. What am I referring to? The news that NC had given Common Core the boot. I saw it surface on several anti CC Facebook pages where folks were expressing jealousy over the fact they wished their state would be so bold; others giving the citizens of NC a big ‘well done’.

Sadly though, it is a rumor. Well timed, but a alas, not true. See below:

Is there more to this story? Sure there is!
Is there more to this story? Sure there is!

What the truth is, is that a bill was signed by the Governor, but instead of ‘repeal’ or ‘replace’ CCSS in NC, we got stuck with a REVIEW of it. I’ll spare you the Keystone Cop routine of how the Committee has been treated by not only the Governor, but the legislature, the State Board of Education, etc.
Here is an excerpt from my Oct. 2014 “Monday Musings” about the whole mess, “But..as the media will tell us a committee was, indeed formed. How it was formed is an embarrassment to the taxpayers and an affront to our legal system.”
If you would like to read the rest of that article: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/20/monday-musings-if-i-were-on-a-repeal-common-core-committee/
Why is it important to clarify the truth NOW? Because, the Review Committee is about 2 months away from its final report. That’s right, in Dec. 2015, the NC Academic Standards Review Committee  (NC ASRC) will hand over their findings and suggestions for what NC SHOULD do with CCSS. We may, in fact, get to see a total repeal of CCSS. That is what the vast majority of citizens is pulling for. We might see  a tweaked CCSS, or we might get the shaft via a rebrand. Who knows?! In the meantime, however, here is what else is going on to feed the rumor mill…..

“The Nosy Observer” aka the Raleigh News and Observer:

Gone of the journalist days where objectivity was reported! Media selling out the CCSS Machine isn't new or exclusive to the 'big' sources.
Gone of the journalist days where objectivity was reported! Media selling out the CCSS Machine isn’t new or exclusive to the ‘big’ sources.

Read part of the defensive article,When students don’t measure up, some Wake County school board members rightly note, that isn’t the fault of Common Core. It may be teachers, it may be parents who aren’t helping their students at home, it make be students wrestling with tougher courses than they’ve had in the lower grades.” (read the rest, if you think you can stomach it,
http://www.newsobserver.com/opinion/editorials/article41241507.html)
I would encourage you, as an anti CCSS Warrior to respond to the editorial, even if you are outside NC! I hope you’ll look for my response, it is a zinger!

Other Not SO Great News about NC’s Education via the CCSS Machine:

These next two events are true. Some of what is stated, however, is fallacy based.
Regardless, each of these moves are bad news for NC…and the nation.

Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education’s Denver Conference.

I learned of this event from one of the elected legislators of NC this past week. His name? Rep. Craig Horn. He was gloating about the great work NC has done to push digital education in NC and that he’d been a part of it!
Here are his comments, via screen shots:
The first one announced his arrival.

The second one shares his joy at being there.

The third shows you his involvement in NC education.

Governor (who has said he is against CCSS, is included in this digital push. I guess the ‘college and career readiness’ of CCSS doesn’t phase him.)

Former U.S. Dept. of Education’s Margaret Spellings as the President of UNC.

I first wrote about Ms. Spellings’ report back in June 2015. It was included as a ‘related resource’ in my article about Higher Education, Sen. Lamar Alexander, and the “Next America”. Read it, you need to. As an anti CCSS Warrior what is shared there is vital.
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/06/11/tech-thursday-more-alexander-hea-and-the-next-america/
Here’s a quote from the Raleigh News and Observer, “As UNC president, she’ll oversee the state’s public university system with 17 campuses and 222,000 students, succeeding Tom Ross, 65, who will step down early next year at the board’s request. The board gave Spellings a 5-year contract with a base salary of $775,000, plus deferred compensation of $77,500 annually and potential performance bonuses.” (the entire story:  http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/education/article41183490.html)
Here’s a quote from the Huffington Post about the news, “In her initial comments after Friday’s vote, Spellings talked about the importance of ensuring quality education for all, especially poor and minority students. “We must close the achievement gap at all levels,” she said.” (Read their entire article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/margaret-spellings-unc-president_562a622fe4b0ec0a38944016)
My fellow anti CCSS Warrior, Nancy Bailey made some great comments about Spellings on Facebook. See the screen shot below.

Nancy also reminded us how Spellings described NCLB, 'like Ivory Soap, 99% pure.'
Nancy also reminded us how Spellings described NCLB, ‘like Ivory Soap, 99% pure.’

Why would I point out this as a problem for the nation? University of NC graduates go all over the nation, and the world, for that matter. Think UNC isn’t involved in the CCSS Machine? Think again. I’ve written several articles of their known and documented involvement! As President of UNC, Spellings will oversee the following:

*Data tracking for life via CCSS/CTE(career tech education):

With all this CCSS Machine effort going in NC, adding a former creator is NOT a smart move for NC or the nation! Warriors, we MUST use these events, this information to help STOP Common Core in ALL its forms!

The "Would You Believe It?" Wednesday is back this week only!
The “Would You Believe It?” Wednesday is back this week only!

A recap of the ‘Recent Past’ and “Not-So-Recent-Past” in the best of the “Would You Believe It?! Wednesday articles. Grouped by topic to help you focus in on only the portion of anti CCSS info you can best use. Please note, these are only the Wednesday articles, I have many, many more on each of the topics below.

The Recent Past:

Just yesterday, a fellow educational activist, Nancy Bailey released her list of the most ‘wonderful blogs, books, websites’ from the past year. I am honored to share with you that Nancy’s article included my blog among her ‘rare coins’ she has been collecting. Also included as great anti CCSS resources are some of the fellow warriors I’ve come to know and trust.
The Florida Stop Common Core Coalition, Stop Common Core NYS, PW Withering‘s blog made Bailey’s list as well. Peter Greene‘s blog was featured as well. Among the books, Karen  Lamoreaux‘s “No Choice, No Voice” was called out. If you’d like to see the entire article, see: http://nancyebailey.com/2015/09/26/highlighting-websites-blogs-and-books/
(*Note: the article will feature all kinds of ‘education’ resources, not specifically anti CCSS ones)

Another anti CCSS Warrior, I’ve come to know, trust, and guest speak (via the phone) with her, is Anita Hoge. Anita’s been such an inspiration and her Twitter graphics for the anti CCSS Warriors to share and use to fight the illegally based education reform are terrific. You can find Anita on the Internet as well. I’m including her archives here which begin in 2015 and go back to 2013. See: http://www.newswithviews.com/Hoge/anitaA.htm
(*Note: Anita’s work on exposing how FERPA, Title 1 funding, and other funding is desperately needed to help fight the CCSS Machine.)

Both calls will be archived for your reference. I thank you for your continued support in my efforts to rid America of the CCSS Machine.

Tech Thursday: Common Core Military Special

Normally on Thursdays, I treat you to an article about Common Core in post secondary education. Today, however, I’ve got a special article. Collaborative for Student Success has just released a new infograph about Common Core and our U.S. Military students.

What you don’t see below is the staggering number of students set to be in the direct line of fire for receiving CCSS in military schools. Eighty-two thousand (82,000).
Outside those military families, look at those students wishing to get in the military, no matter where they attended high school, a CCSS laden exam awaits (more on that later). As far as not having enough students qualify to to join the military upon graduation from high school? I found one article which suggests the reason isn’t because of education, but because the recruiters don’t need as many service men and women, so they can be a bit more choosy in selecting new members of the armed forces! Something the Collaborative folks left out in their infograph. (see: https://news.vice.com/article/the-common-core-military-readiness-and-the-myth-of-americas-dumb-youth)

From 2003:

A document I found on the State Dept.’s website caused me to pose a question. Could the ‘common core curriculum and programs’ developed for the military training be the same as the CCSS of today? I’ve provided a screen shot where you’ll be able to see how some funding was being used. While I’ve not been able to actually see the curriculum, it does leave a question for us.

Why this question is of concern:

While the above may or may not be THE CCSS, it should concern us. Why? If you look at some of the courses taught in the Civilian Military Naval Post Grad School, you’ll see that the United Nations plays a huge role in it; you’ll see that legislators are involved in some of the classes as well. How do I know this? As an example, take a look at the Naval Post Grad School. Knowing that the UN is behind CCSS and has recently (as in yesterday) been pushing for more CCSS globally, we should be very concerned! We should be finding out all we can!!

Army Supports the CCSS:
Read the statement from the head of U.S. Army in full support of CCSS. Hasn’t anyone told him as a defender of the U.S. Constitution, support for the Core is treason?

http://www.corestandards.org/assets/ccsi_statements/StatementArmy.pdf

Dept. of Defense Backs the Core:
Read the Rand Corp. book detailing how the DofD has implemented CCSS into military schools. Again, why are those who took an oath to uphold the Constitution even considering such an act of internal hostility??http://www.rand.org/pubs/occasional_papers/OP384.html

If you aren’t familiar with Rand, here’s their description from their website, “The RAND Corporation is a research organization that develops solutions to public policy challenges to help make communities throughout the world safer and more secure, healthier and more prosperous. RAND is nonprofit, nonpartisan, and committed to the public interest.” What’s ironic is that Rand prides itself on fact based research. How in the bloody heck can you even consider CCSS fact based research when so much has been proven to be totally undeserving of being used?! While copyright protection bars me from sharing the Rand 2014 Annual Report, what I CAN share is where to access it. I can also tell you to read the section on education (begins on page 12) and then refer to the list of donors who supported Rand in 2014. You’ll find the complete list on page 64. Count the well known CCSS supporters. Then, check out some of the others to see if they, too, support the Core. http://www.rand.org/pubs/corporate_pubs/CP1-2014.html

Collaborative for Student Success:

If you look at the Collaborative more in-depth (http://forstudentsuccess.org/) You’ll see all kinds of support for CCSS. Here’s one of 4 main screen pictures you’ll see:

Who is in the Collaborative?

“The members of the Collaborative share the belief that the successful implementation of the Common Core State Standards is an important next step in ensuring that all students are prepared to succeed at college level work. The mission of the Collaborative is to support the state-led efforts of State Education Agencies and local education organizations responsible for educating and informing all stakeholders — parents, students, teachers and community leaders — about the new state standards and assessments. There is great support for the Common Core State Standards among educators – from the National Network of State Teachers of the Year, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers.”

So much for objective facts about CCSS!

The U.S. Dept. of Defense:

From the U.S. Dept. of Defense’s press release back in 2012 about how CCSS was a great way to fix schools for military children, this excerpt, “DOD provided about $3.7 billion over five years to fix these schools.” Remember, that’s your hard earned tax dollars at work. See the entire press release:
http://www.defense.gov/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=117695
Keep in mind the Defense’s job is national security. Our public trust is that the men and women providing that security are a) honoring the oath they are sworn to take, b) upholding the American values our Founding Fathers based the U.S. Constitution, and c) that the protection provided is not driven by substandard education! To better visualize just how damning CCSS in our military is, visit the DofD’s website link below. Just look at all the areas of access the DofD has over our nation. Do you really want a CCSS aligned military? Especially given what objective, fact-based evidence, we the people had uncovered??
