The Set-up: An In-Depth Report

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, our Nation has just been shoved further down the ‘river of the damned’ in education.

How? The U.S. Senate, by a voice vote, passed the U.S. House’s “Strengthening Career Tech Education (CTE) in the 21st Century Act” (HR 2353).

By this passage, HR 2353, now advances to our President. The ‘mad dash’ rushing we are seeing play out? Oh, that’s 100% on purpose. Why? Look at the recent events surrounding this: a “Made in the USA” exhibit, Ivanka’s main stream media blitz, the big showcase of CCSS Machine groups surrounding President as he signed a NEW executive order on July 19th.
So, WHY is all the activity hyping up? Think about the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandate for ALL education to be ‘aligned to post-secondary readiness’. Then, consider the timeline which all was to be in place by: the beginning of the 2018-19 school year.

Warriors, we are quickly approaching the beginning of that ‘academic’ calendar!!

By August of 2016, WIOA was well in place, HEA was being discussed to be re-written, and ESSA was just getting off the ground, right? A look back at the truth.

2016: Before Rep. Kline left Congress, he got together with Sen. Alexander one last time to make sure their united efforts would live on in combining academics and workforce.

2016: By the end of 2016, the CCSS Machine was trying to convince us all “CCSS was dead”, that CCR, College and Career Readiness, was the ‘new’ kid on the scene and that our entire communities needed to get on the CCR/CTE ‘bandwagon’.

In 2017, The U.S. Senate brought us a LADDER Act. This Bill was a huge ‘set up’ to globalism workforce AND socialism all in the same ‘place’. How’s that? My article detailed it well. When did ‘reinventing education’ become code for Common Core?

An Older Trump EO Meets A New One:

In 2017, President Trump signed EO (Executive Order) #13801. This Order expanded apprenticeships, especially at the beck and call of P3s (public private partnerships). Ivanka Trump, during her recent press appearances, kept referring to P-Tech (part of the globally led CCSS Machine’s effort to redesign high schools into worker prep factories).
Warriors, remember: ESSA mandated an increase in P3s in K-12 education for ALL school choices!

Warriors, the Task Force which #13801 put into action has been meeting up until recently (2018). It’s job was to come up with ways in which education and jobs were not only ‘joined at the hip’, but the only way to learn. (Remember, the ESSA mandate about ALL education being the same?!) The agenda from #13801 is being carried out in the new #13845 (see the link above).
Here are the 26 Agenda driven ‘suggestions’ from the #13801’s Task Force:

Warriors, #13845 establishes a nation-wide council to oversee and micro-manage not only education, but labor in all 50 States. Does anyone remember that BOTH these federal departments are unconstitutional and therefore ILLEGAL?! The proposed merging of these two as well as the relaxed child labor laws play directly into the expansion of CTE and the apprenticeships!

Lastly, #13845 brings about the shift of education, control, AND, continued loss of individual freedoms! It also brings all the actions of every other related law and program under the thumb of FEDERAL government, not LOCAL control! #13845 brings to life #13801! It INCREASES government!!

Using ‘Crisis’ To Drive Agenda

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, I do believe our current Congress has reached an all-time low with the pair of federal derived education bills, S 1421 and HR 3828.

Both are titled the Patsy T. Mink Gender Equity in Education Act. Both claim the purpose of the legislation is to protect citizens from sexual inequality. But, what if, hidden in plain sight of these 2 bills is an agenda for aligned education? The savior for protecting us? STEM (as in Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math)!!

Personal note: I am in no way advocating sexual inequality nor do I promote sexual harassment. However, if we are to have important legislation protecting our citizens could we POSSIBLY leave the UN’s (and CCSS Machine’s) STEM out of it?!

The Lady:

Warriors, if you are not sure who Patsy T. Mink was, she was a very important leader from HI. She is basically the mother of Title 9. When Title 9 was much younger, it was created so that women and girls would have equal access to sports.
It’s only been in recent years that Title 9 has been reworded to NOW cover anyone who feels sexually left out of education.

Mrs. Mink was also key in President Johnson’s Great Society legislative campaign. She served twice on the U.S. House’s Education and Workforce Committee, helped begin Head Start and, so much more. (*Note: it was President Johnson who ‘gave’ us the original ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) now ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)

Sadly, though, Warriors, Head Start has been CCSS aligned for a while. The Education and Workforce Committee is a ‘lock, stock, and, barrel’ member of the CCSS Machine.

As far as the ‘Great Society’, we see those ties are being used for much of the social justice movement, also a key part of the CCSS Machine AND UN’s SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) agenda. STEM, is a direct product to help drive education to these social justice ends.

The Language:

Warriors, the entire purpose of these twin Bills is this:
“To support educational entities in fully implementing title IX and reducing
and preventing sex discrimination in all areas of education.”
Sadly, it takes 24 pages to explain what the ‘support’ means.


On Page 2 of the Senate’s Bill version, you’ll see the National Women’s Law Center is mentioned. NWLC has helped former President Obama’s data mining pay scale initiative to get off the ground. They’ve also helped wage a major educational disparities campaign (again with the work and support of the White House).

The NWLC also has successfully forced in-depth and precisely detailed ‘student data rape’ to continue. Why? The more details the more we can level the playing field.

If the NWLC would look at the massive data mining in this way (as many of those of us in the War Vs the Core) they may realize just how serious accessing private student information is.

Did you know the NWLC also was key in getting Early Head Start and Head Start funds in ESSA? Also, those community development block grants which will fund the 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Promise Neighborhoods, and, more?

These were all also mandated in ESSA.

The last NWLC item we Warriors need to know is that they are funded by some of the biggest CCSS Machine members. The truth can be seen beginning on Page 18 of their last Annual Report.

On Page 3 of S 1421, another group is mentioned: The American Association of University Women. According to AAUW’s last Annual Report,  they regularly fund STEM programs at local levels! From their website, you can find CCSS Machine corporate partners.

Warriors, how many times do we have to find out that our Congress is listening to the big bucks, not the everyday citizens?! 

While S 1421 and HR 3828 are exact copies, what can we see embedded from the House’s copy?
Page 3 “STEM Pipeline” used to describe the workforce aligned shift. (Scroll back up to what this really means)
Page 4, NSF (National Science Foundation), again more CCSS Machine/UN endorsed agenda skewing the truth.
Page 4, The Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network’s Report information is used as justification. The GLSEN is also heavily back by key CCSS Machine member groups (for example: Wells Fargo, the Walt Disney Company, Target, and, many others)

Corporations tied to CCSS do NOT represent the people’s voice. 

More Fed Ed Power:

Warriors, the Equity Act being considered in DC hasn’t seen much action that We the People have been made aware of, but, before we assume this type of action will go away, we need to consider that any of the DC bills I’ve been studying could be rolled out anytime now..or, in the future. We’ve seen it happen way too many times in the past.

We also need to consider that embedded in BOTH bills is room for more federal funding to dictate what happens at State and local levels in education; that the Dept of Education will expand to ensure ‘equity’ is achieved. This will show up in anti-bullying, ‘safe schools’, and other ‘wrap around’ services. Every single one of these were mandated in ESSA using Title 1 funds. However, other Title funds would now be COMBINED to align learning to, not an equity-like level, but to a ‘one-way-to-learn-so-you-can-earn system’.

Closing:

Warriors, these tactics are directly taken from the UN-inspired SDG Toolkit created in the US back in the early 2000s. I’ve shared this Toolkit many times.

We need to understand that S 1241 and HR 3828 use ‘equity’. Both use ‘equality’. We’ve seen how the two are NOT the same, do not mean the same, and, should not be interchangeably used! Yet, bill after bill from the federal level continues to use double speak.

So, Where’s the Choice?

Warriors Against Fed Led Education, the image you see above was featured in one of my 2015 articles detailing the scam behind school choice. Since then, I’ve (along with others) have repeatedly sounded the call against ‘school choice’.

Why?

It wasn’t that we didn’t believe in the parents right to choose the education for their children. It was because we knew the CCSS Machine was erasing ALL choices in education but one: workforce geared, skill based Common Core (aka: College/Career Ready; Future Ready; Choice ReadyNext Gen Standards and Assessments; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) as well as many other names for deceptive purposes).

Warriors, ESSA(Every Student Succeeds Act) stated in no uncertain terms that ALL education MUST be aligned to the SAME Standards! No exceptions.
The CCSS Machine’s deception is trying to still convince America that ‘choices’ are available in education.

The truthful reality is, no, true choice died when President Obama signed ESSA into law.

Since 2011, this group has been doing a ‘bang up’ job of deceiving folks. Wait, why would I say ‘since 2011’? ESSA wasn’t a law then. You’re correct, ESSA wasn’t a law yet, but Common Core had taken over education in every choice available by 2011.

My fellow Warrior, Alice Linahan, published a scathing report (2017) on who is really behind the National School Choice Week organization.

What’s New For 2018?

Warriors, the penguins will be dancing (that’s what they do in the GIF on social media) into our areas the 21st-27th of January. Believe it or not, there’s even a dance for people to celebrate school choice. Of course, you can purchase the song and video.

Yes, nothing says let’s deceive folks quite like a catchy tune and some pumped up (fake) enthusiasm.

Warriors, these folks may be dancing now, but what will they be doing when they see ESSA fully implemented and NO choice in education is still around? Remember, the way the law is laid out, everything is to be fully in place for ESSA by now. However, all States were to have their State Plans submitted to the U.S. Secretary of Education no later than Sept. 2017. If you’ll remember, there were 2 submission dates. Seventeen States chose the earlier 2017 date, while the majority waited until September. The point is, it’s mid-January 2018. Each State which chose the latter date AND received an ‘interim feedback’ letter from Sec. DeVos, is under a 120 day time crunch. The federal level department has to react to each State plan within that time frame.

For example, where I live (North Carolina) received its ‘interim feedback’ letter on Dec. 13, 2017. For all the things which US Ed required, the State had a mere 2 weeks (with Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa right in the middle of it all) to re-submit its Plan. The letter was sent by Jason Botel, not Betsy DeVos. It appears that all the Fall 2017 States also received a Dec. 2017 letter with Botel’s name attached. Since there are 34 States, I only checked a few States which surround NC and saw the pattern.

The State Plans are being held up due to the fact the feds do not think the States are compliant enough. Remember how it was deceptive spoken that ESSA would give the educational control BACK to the States?

What’s interesting is that supposedly Botel was released by the US Ed before Dec. 2017, so why is his name used as the signature?

Warriors, with this much backlog and confusion, ESSA’s fullest version and implementation will be taking place in the 2018-19 academic year. All this means is a longer and stronger grip on ‘locally controlled’ education by the federal government..not LESS and certainly not full of choices.

Warriors, back in January 2017, I wrote about the lessons we should be learning from the (then) current state of federally controlled education. In the midst of that article was the reality of the school choice belonging to the parents and their heartfelt desires. Go back and read how that lesson has been trampled upon since ESSA, since the presidential election, since DeVos, and since organizations like National School Choice Week have been in ‘charge’.

With this January (2018) “Choice Week” about to launch, there is plenty we can do to protest, to expose the fallacies, and to protect our children from this massive deception.

Education Used Against Us

Fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors, I realize the title of this blog article is an ‘elephant in the room’ observation. We all have known for a while, now, how education has been used against our nation’s citizens. As the days in the ESSA Era (*Every Student Succeeds Act Era) continue to grind on, we’ve seen many new Warriors come to this observation.

Sadly, very few political and/or policy leaders have seen how the CCSS Machine  vastly weakened academics. Because of this, it is becoming easier to see (on a daily basis) that education has become almost like a weapon used against us.

Think about it, Warriors.
When a person is being charged with a crime or is being taken into police custody, they are read their “Miranda rights”. Contained in those rights are these words, “Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

Now, in the context of education, it is becoming clear ‘Anything done in education is being held against us.’ Keep that thought as you read on.

One of the biggest ways education is being used against our teachers and students is in the guise of ‘accountability’.

ESSA’s language was especially ‘generous’ with the word. ESSA was also written to be very deceptive. Our schools are suffering even more now, than before ESSA’s passage into the law books.

So, just WHAT were/are the ‘accountability’ mandates in ESSA?
1) Data measured any way and every way possible.
2) To get the federal funds, States must fulfill certain obligations.
3) Control and power of education in the hands of the unqualified.
4) Global workforce agenda driven.

Warriors, of course this is a boiled down list. There are many, many other mandates woven into each of these four.
However, for the sake of those new Warriors, I’ve condensed the list.

Back in August of this year, I shared with you how the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s misuse of ‘accountability’ was harming our States. Here we are, months later and the misuse not only continues, it’s growing.

Warriors, take, for example, the announcement below. What has your State done to align and misguide you where ‘accountability’ can be found? In Superintendent Johnson’s announcement, ‘accountability’ is NOT used, but ‘transparency’ is.

Warriors, that brings up another ESSA fact. “Accountability” and ‘transparency’ are being used interchangeably!

Enter, NC’s “New” Report Cards:

Warriors, thanks to ESSA’s mandates for ALL education being aligned to workforce based industry standards, we know that means that all schools must have data which can be accessed and used. We know it means the ‘grading’ of entire schools across your States will increase in rewards and punishments. Of course, all this grading is the direct results of how well students are learning, how well teachers are leading, and how well principals are keeping everyone in line.

From Superintendent Johnson’s email, the fine print tells you there are 3 different websites for you to access the Report Cards. The first two are for researchers. The last one is for all those with questions. Now, Warriors, if we’re being so transparent and accountable, why 3 different sites? Why not use one?

Johnson unveiled the updated Report Card site (was brand new back in 2001) in his former school district, Winston-Salem Schools. To see the official announcement, visit here. A CCSS Machine member group, FEE (Foundation for Excellence in Education), has also published an article on their ExcelinEd blog about the updates. It’s based off THEIR principles for education!!

As far as the ‘new’ report cards, what’s attention grabbing about using the first of the two sites for researchers is you see a blue screen with SAS in the middle. (This quickly fades as the NC Dept. of Public Instruction page appears.) I’ve added emphasis, below:

Typically, when you access any NC DPI website page, there’s no such process. So, is SAS spying on me when I access the ‘research’ page? It’s more of a probability than a possibility. Even if you aren’t a researcher, you need to see the data sets and definitions.

If you wish to see the NC Report Card website on its own, go here. Once there, select any of the 100 counties. Then, click on a school. You’ll see all kinds of colors, numbers, and information. However, skip the glamour and go for the ‘downloadable’ District Reports. You’ll get a better understanding of what’s being reported on, as well as how it aligns to CCR (College and Career Readiness). CCR is a re-brand of Common Core for every State. For those States which received Race to the Tops funds, CCR will even show up in the applications and award letters. CCR is also used in ESSA.

I did check the NC Report Card for one of my county’s CTE (Career Tech Education) specific schools. What I found was awful. Not one textbook is in use. No academic growth, whatsoever. Knowing more and more States are shifting to this type of ‘education’ for requirements in graduating, we need to act quickly, Warriors! This cannot be acceptable!

Related and Relevant:
1) How Title One funds in ESSA’s Era are being used against us.
2) How ESSA’s embedded WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) ties are being used against your students.
3) How the massive data mining (thanks to ESSA and many related legislative moves) is harming our families.
4) One of the biggest ESSA traps for ‘accountability’ and ‘transparency’ is for our teachers and their ‘performance’.
5) SAS has had a contract with the NC DPI since the days of the ARRA funds (American Recovery and Re-investment Act). SAS is a global data miner/contractor. If you wish to see where else I found the company has government contracts for NC (so you can see what is similar in your State). Warriors, remember, ESSA was full of all kinds of technology updates. SAS will play right into these.
6) SAS has supported a shift in education from academics to workforce not only in NC, but all the way to D.C..
7) Winston-Salem is part of the Strive Together national network of aligned communities for cradle to workforce collectivism.
8) ESSA’s educational use against us will also be felt in all school choices via ‘accreditation’.
9) ESSA will use school leaders against us, as well.

Closing:

Warriors, education is definitely becoming a weapon for conformity, not freedom. We have the power to stop our leaders! How? As my fellow Warrior, Karen Bracken, has stated, ‘Starve the Beast’! Don’t keep your kids hooked into the data mining school system. Remove them now! If you cannot remove them, be that persistent parent who is always visible at school. We cannot allow education to used against our children in this way.

 

Why Have Goals?

Warriors, in my “Purse Strings” article, you were promised a follow-up article further looking at the connections between SEL (Social Emotional Learning), the SMART Goals, and, the HARD Goals.

Briefly, before we get to that follow-up information, I’d like to point out something I didn’t in the original article. The connections between who funds each of these types of activities in each of our States is worth looking into. However, don’t only look at the wealthiest folks, but look at their foundations. Look at the traditionally conservative or liberal policy think-tanks. Are there connections between these groups? Are there partnerships? A great conservative example is the AFC (American Federation for Children). Besty DeVos has been instrumental in AFC’s work in the States. Does AFC have an affiliate in your State? As far as an liberal example, try to see if your State has any affiliate offices for the Center for American Progress (CAP).

Also, what PACs (Political Action Committees) are active in education in your State?

Why We Need to Know The Money Trail:

SEL, Grit, SMART, HARD, And American Education:

To quickly review the connections between these  encompass the global education design for “grit”. Meaning, all education must be a certain way in order to be deemed as ‘successful’. Put another way, per the NC ESSA State Draft Plan (I found it in other State Plans as well), ‘grit’ is for ‘college and career readiness’ (CCR). CCR is another phrase for ‘post-secondary readiness’! See the evidence here.

By passing WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) in 2014, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds) and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)Acts in 2015, renewing the HEA’s (Higher Education Act) funding in 2015, our federal government has done a ‘bang up’ job of mandating we’ll see MORE grit, SEL, SMART, and HARD parameters in ALL educational levels. 

Here are two visuals to explain SMART Goals and HARD Goals:

You’ll find plenty of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Revelant, and Trackable) and HARD (Heart-felt, Animated, Required, and Difficult) in every digital resource your students encounter.  All those ‘personalized courses’ are an example.

Teachers will also face the same constraints. HOW? Professional Development in ESSA mandates teachers and other educational leaders MUST be credentialed in everything post-secondary readiness so their students can measure up. Teachers/leaders/students will be collectively graded on how successful what is taught and learned. It’s called whole school grading. ESSA will reward or punish States where schools do not measure up. Likewise, teachers/leaders will be rewarded or punished if not properly credentialed or badged.

Here are some vital resources you’ll need for SMART and HARD Goals:

1) As we know, there’s a 2013 U.S. Dept. of Education publication about GRIT.
It unabashedly connects CCSS to SEL. Find it here.  (*Note: you’ll find mega bucks Bill and Melinda Gates had a huge hand in helping create this document.)

2)  SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) Goals. Originally designed for business, it appears they’ve made their way into education.  Here’s a document from the State of VA. It’s from the Human Resources Dept of the University of VA. It’s clearly visible this document was for use in higher education.

Warriors, we know higher education has been overrun with corporate/federal interference to help embed that cradle to grave stream global education needs for all citizens. I’ve covered this multiple times here on my blog. WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and HEA (Higher Education Act) are tools for this. ESSA’s the same.

4) Below, Lifelong Learning Labs has this definition of SMART for education. As you can see it’s not too far removed from the business model (‘SMART’ in business stands for Specific, Measurable, Achieveable, Realistic, and Timely.). LLL also calls SMART Goals ‘mind tools’.

HARD Goals supposedly are to make your brain engage and cause your performance levels soar..at least in the business world. According to this blog article about HARD Goals, the concept has been around a long time. These are to be the ‘softer’, more personal skills you have or can groom in others. According to this same article, Leadership IQ’s Mark Murphy has created the latest acroynm. So, who is Murphy? From his Leadership IQ website, this excerpt about his ties to the CCSS Machine and global workforce/education.
With a reputation for brilliant, yet immediately actionable, insights about leadership, he’s trained leaders at the United Nations, Harvard Business School, the Clinton Foundation, Microsoft, MasterCard, SHRM, and hundreds more organizations.  Mark leads one of the world’s largest leadership skills studies, and his work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, Forbes, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and U.S. News & World Report. His blog entry reveals he ‘borrowed’ Mark Murphy’s business model. See it here. Gurr’s based in Turkey, by the way. According to his LinkedIn profile, he’s got his finger on the HARD/SMART, English Language Learning (ELL) and, English Language Teaching (ELT) education reform. See his ties to Dubai, too. Gurr’s a presentor in this on-line course for teachers available to all education choices.

4) Murphy’s lastest article on HARD vs SMART for Forbes, states both are best for career development. Knowing how aligned to this mandate ESSA is, look for more of this type of BS in classrooms.

5) Tying Grit to Education Savings Accounts, will not only encompass personalized learning, but CBE (Competency Based Education). Big money groups in our States fund these! A ‘leader’ in this is The Jeb Bush Foundation for Excellence in Education. However, FEE is hardly the only big-buck-group in this education reform. Warriors, I hope between the strings and goals I’ve presented for you in the 2 related articles, you can get an idea that ‘local control’ as promised by the CCSS Machine is a big, fat lie. Locally controlled education should not have nebulous purse strings or someone else’s business modeled priorities as the guiding framework. Local education should be OF the people, BY the people, and, FOR the people.

One truth you can still share with your State’s leaders/funders, etc. is that this federal statute is STILL being broken every day ESSA’s implementation continues. Every day WIOA’s workforce ursurping of education continues, furthers this breach. With the HEA being re-written, the egregious overreaches will continue. Will your State speak up?!

Ed/Workforce’s Dirty Laundry?!

Hello, my Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warriors! As you know, I’ve dedicated years to researching just how deep the roots to the shift in American education to workforce training are.

Today’s article will give you a rundown which is sure to help your War vs the Core in your State.

Why you need such a rundown of items is simple. The CCSS Machine’s rhetoric will somewhat slow down during the summer months. A perfect opportunity for us to make some moves of our own. No battle is won without specific preparation.

D.C.’s Dirty Laundry:

So far, during the current Congressional session, there are PLENTY of ‘dirty’ education/workforce bills in the making. Using the Congress.gov website (where you can easily look up bills), there are 733 Workforce bills for the 2017 session.

Since we know what happens in D.C. travels to each of the 50 States, we know what to look for at our General Assemblies, State Congresses, etc. Much like the proverbial red towel left in the load of white sheets, the goal of the CCSS Machine is simple, make all education ‘pink’ (ie: workforce training, not academic-minded). As we also, know, once dyed pink, sheets do not return to their former color easily, if at all.

Below are only a few of the ‘dirty’ bills:

S268, Investing in Student Success Act of 2017 (Senator Young from IN is the main sponsor).
Sounds not so ‘dirty’ right? I mean who doesn’t want to invest in their child’s post-secondary education?! Ah, but Warriors, the ‘dirt’ is that your student and someone not related to you invests in their education via an ISA (Income Share Agreement).

Some hidden ‘dirt’ for S268 is that this FEDERAL bill goes above any existing State law about investment agreements! Targeted group for S268? Low-income students.

HR1837, The 21st Century Energy Workforce Act (Representative Norcross from NJ is the main sponsor)
This bill points out that energy in the United States is the 3rd largest industry. As such, it needs more skilled workers than other industries.
The ‘hidden dirt’ to this bill? Using community colleges for the uniting of all educational choices for STEM/CTE aligned Common Core workforce educated students. (*Note: STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; CTE is short for Career Technical Education. Both are tied to Common Core and have been for years.)

The embedded ‘pink’ stain to this bill? The Secretary of Energy will be in charge of grants for creating apprenticeships to carry all this alignment out. This will, of course, involve the U.S. Dept. of Labor, and the U.S. Dept. of Education.
This HR1837, also establishes a National Center for Excellence for the  21st Century Workforce Advisory Board.(see pages 3 and 4)

A Former ‘Stain’ Which Will Not Wash Out:

Our Senate, over the past 2 Congressional sessions, has tried to get a bill to support a National Workforce Board. See below from Sen. Cantwell’s (WA):

S1304, was last introduced during the 2015-2016 Session by Sen. Cantwell. If you read the 9 pages, it is very similar in several instances to the HR 1837 language. Talk about ‘dirty laundry’….

New Wash Load, Same Old Dirt:

During THIS Congressional Session (2017-2018) The Senate’s 21st Century Energy Workforce Act is mainly sponsored by Sen. Heinrich, NM. It is S895.

S895’s title is officially “Energy Workforce for the 21st Century Act of 2017”. This bill specifies an increase in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) especially for low-income students of ALL ages (like the House’s bill, this one will begin in elementary schools and go all the way to the workforce). This bill also specifies WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s) definition of ‘education’..just like ESSA did.

S895 will have not only the Secretary of Energy creating education collaborations, but awarding all kinds of incentives to them.

Warriors, if you missed my article from earlier this year about how the major Cabinet agencies all have CTE/STEM plans to streamline education to workforce skills, I urge you to access that information here. It is absolutely key to what we see Congress plotting NOW.

Also, take into consideration that the Federal Budget has millions of taxpayer funds earmarked for job creation. On Page 2 of the 2018 Federal Budget, energy development is at the top of the continued priority list. Education is last. On Page 8, funding/discussion for American jobs is highlighted.

Back in March 2017, when the Blueprint for the Federal Budget was released, I shared with you just how the education/workforce stream of money was being kept alive, in spite of all the noise about reining in the federal overreach into education.

Continuing the Spin Cycle:

S1186 is sponsored by several Senators from across the nation. Leading them is Sen. Baldwin from WI. This bill, the Domestic Maritime Centers of Excellence Act of 2017, would have the Secretary of Transportation select existing community colleges (and technical schools) for an increase in educated workforce training. This Secretary’s assistance also includes funding, use of federal resources, AND, create new career pathways!

S628, Educating Tomorrow’s Workforce Act of  2017 is mainly sponsored by Sen. Kaine of VA. While it’s been rumored VA never had Common Core, it’s been researched and proven VA has Common Core’s ‘adult version’ of education, CTE (Career Tech Education). This bill should be an absolute dead ringer for exposing the shift in education. Why? See below:

Warriors, as you can see, these are just a few of the over 700 bills Congress has created in the name of job creation, education, workforce skills, and more. The bottom line, however, is 100% alignment to WIOA via ESSA. HEA (Higher Education Act) is also to be included. Career Pathways, STEM, and so much more connects every one of these existing laws and proposed bills. Will every one of these bills survive? No, but even if ONE of them succeeds, look at the agenda it embeds, not only federally, but LOCALLY.
The ‘stain’ of CCSS Machine reform is becoming permanently marked on America.

May We Move On?

Ahh…summer is quickly approaching, anti Fed Ed Warriors. In some States, EOGs/EOCs have all been taken; graduations completed. In others, this season is upon them. Social media’s been flooded with proud parents and teachers showing off Johnny and Suzy’s rites of passage.

Pardon me, if I’m a bit melancholy. You see, I’d LIKE to feel great for these young people about to set foot into the next chapter of their lives. I’d LIKE to know they would be able to be free enough to be who they WANT to be. Maybe it’s the research, maybe it’s the evidence. I’m not sure. Somewhere in all that I’ve uncovered about the CCSS Machine’s grasp on our nation, I am finding my mom’s heart is troubled for yet another graduating class. I’m a bit angry, a bit sad.  

Why? Warriors, thanks to the modern education reform, what you see below IS their future!

 Education in America was never supposed to be about streamlining our students for adherence to one way to learn/think/act or believe. It was never supposed to be about chucking academics out the door and replacing learning with skill based, workforce ready competencies. It’s purpose was not supposed to dishonor all the different choices of HOW to educate, either. But, again, thanks to the modern education reform via ESSA’s (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandates, EVERY education choice will face the bridge you see above.

No, education was supposed to gift our students with how to think, NOT what to think.
Education is a NOT a business to be micromanaged! Being educated is a privilege. Being a teacher is a gift. Neither should be governmentally over-regulated….EVER!

Think about it Warriors, every single time the government (and, yes, include the P3s, public private partnerships) has taken natural privileges and gifts away and replaced them with man-made rights and programs with strings to give you something.

What happens? Is the results BETTER than before? Absolutely not! Every single time, what the government takes away and ‘re-gifts’ Americans is sub-par. Where there was a natural flow before, now there’s a dam.

History is a clear marker of the assault on many citizens in this regard. Voltaire’s quote below pretty much illustrates the shift in education, thanks to the modern educational reform from the CCSS Machine.

So, Warriors, how shall we move on? How shall we continue to fight against all that is seeking to rob our students? How may we rise against the national changes we are seeing?

1) We need to remember some ‘leaders’ have not led us well. They have led us astray.
While some ‘leaders’ have clearly sold out to the CCSS Machine, not all have.
We must work with those leaders who are like-minded.
Our ‘leaders’ are merely representing us in their positions of power. They are not mega-lords or demi-gods. Stop treating them as such. Holding their ‘feet to the fire’ is not mean, it’s necessary.
Respect doesn’t mean bowing down, it means being firm and standing up.

2) Remember for whom we fight to protect. This War isn’t for our glory and fame; it’s for preserving freedom for the next generations.

3) Use the summer to catch up on what’s going on in your environment. This is not the time to be an ostrich, Warriors! We know, come the fall of 2017, more over-reach and over-regulations will hit us all. We also know that the CCSS Machine doesn’t slow down just because of summer vacations. We also know that the reform is NOT just for one type of educational choice or grade level. It is a purposed intention to impact ALL choices and EVERY grade level.

1) The 4 part video series by FPE Media. Suitable for all educational choices, but mainly for those outside the public system. Make no mistake, there is MUCH for public education Warriors within the content. Use them in small group settings, watch; discuss; formulate what actions your group wishes to put in place.

Part Two reveals what you may know or may need to know about data mining as the ‘cash cow’ by which ‘education’ has become.

Part Four exposes the exclusion of parent participation and how ‘local control’ of education is far from locally decided.

2) Re-examine your position in the War Vs the Core. Maybe it’s time to step beyond where you are right now. Is there more you can do? Is there an area you need to release? Are there others you’ve been working with who will take what you release? Are you seeking others to work with? Is it time to step from attending the school board meetings and speak at them? Are you thinking of serving on the school board or a State level education related position? This War cannot be won from the outside-in, exclusively. We need to consider infiltration. Why not?! The CCSS Machine hasn’t hesitated to infiltrate our school boards and State level offices!

Warriors, our road ahead is long. We all need to be sharply focused and ‘at the ready’ for what’s before us. Rest a bit, regroup; but do not give up. Do not give in. We are the only ones our children will be able to trust.

Keeping It Local

Warriors Against the Core, we all know how great it can be to have things available to us without having to go too far from home. BUT, what happens when all the ‘local’ education becomes anything but local?!

We enjoy not having to travel  so far to recieve an education. We need to keep in mind it’s set up for us by those who live far away. We WILL have to adhere to its constraints..like it or not.

It should go without saying that the constraints will include Common Core, in one of its many forms.

The CC Forms Are ‘A-plenty’, But Hardly Original Or Local:

As we know, CC is only one form of the modern education reform’s educratic buzz word ‘game’. There’s the more adult form of CC: CTE (Career Tech Education); then, there’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); there’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math); NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards); NGSS (Next Gen Social Studies); C3 (College, Career, Civics Life); CPs (Career Pathways); AAI (American Apprencticeship Iniatiative); CCR (College/Career Readiness), and, probably others we’ve yet to hear about.

The goal, regardless of the name, is the same: Workforce based education for 21st competency based learners.

As we know, none..not ONE of the above alphabet soup names is locally written, created, inspired, or otherwise fashioned together after. Every bit of the programs above is in the CCSS Machine from a top-down force. I do not mean a D.C. to your backyard force, I mean a globally driven force.

So, it should be NO surprise that when we wake up in our homes across America to face another day, we find the CCSS Machine has made one more stride toward us. Today, it may target your little ones; tomorrow, it might be the adults who are targeted; the following day could see our learners who are gifted tapped for the Machine. We may find that our special needs students will also be ‘blessed’ with educratic reform.

The point of the CCSS Machine is that NO age group will escape the top-down education reform.

The Proof Is Right Before Us:

Maybe you’ve seen, Warriors, the ads on social media for education grants awarded to those citizens in America over 50. That’s right, those over the “Golden Age” can get ‘free money’ to go back to school. But, what real LOCAL influence will these people receive if and when they go back to the classroom?

In the picture above, the article shared that across America, certain community colleges waived tutition for students over 60.

That’s great, right? I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff?! But, as I’ve shared with you time and time again, our community colleges are being used as workforce education mills for the CCSS Machine.

If I’m one of these lovely elderly citizens, I may not know that by going to college for ‘free’ is laced with workforce agenda. If you know someone like this, share my  August 2016 article detailing the CCSS Machine’s power grab for citizens ages 50 and over. 

Wait, though…what if I’m a student under age 50?! What waits for me at my local community college or for-profit school? 

The CCSS Machine Grinds On:

Warriors, you know we’ve seen and heard plenty to prove CCSS is after the zero to post-secondary set. Somehow, that’s EASY to talk about. But, no matter how much evidence surfaces for those above a college graduate level (say, around 30 years and older), the conversations become hushed, or worse, non-existent.

It’s also quite okay to say CCSS is infiltrating public education. Try using that mindset backed by evidence for all the other school choices and you can be laughed at, scoffed at, or, my favorite; wearing your tin foil hat a bit too tight.

Since we know the CCSS Machine is linked to the UN’s Master Agenda, we should be ready admit that NO AGE limit is to be free and safe from the reform happening.

So, why was education chosen as the ‘silver bullet’ of the change agents?
Education is an on-going process. It is open to any age limit. Learning, without the CCSS Machine, is a natural progression.

Ah, The Aligned and Defined:

Community Colleges, as I’ve proven before are the ideal location for the CCSS Machine to grasp anyone who’s not been its grasp before. How? Think about it, home educated students often choose (or have chosen for them) their local community colleges for dual enrollment, or, as a stop gap between their K-12 education and any further education. Community colleges welcome those who are between careers, needing to take a course of two for their job, rehabilitate a person who’s been in prison, or, anyone going back to school after some absence.

Community Colleges are also beacons in their respective towns. Local taxpayer funds go into these schools..but so do federal dollars. Warriors, that, as we know, is the downfall of every single State in the United States. The local control, the local say completely gets muted when federal funds are involved. So, what’s the latest anti CCSS News as far as community colleges go? How will this news impact any age person who attends a community college?

The Digital “Do-Gooders”:

Warriors, if you’ve not clicked on any of the embedded links so far, you won’t know how ESSA, WIOA, and HEA (Every Student Succeeds Act/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Higher Education Act) are woven into every age group.

That stated, I am positive, you, as an  anti CCSS Warrior, do know about the ‘digital do-gooders’. You know them by their name or their sales pitches. These are the companies which act ‘educational’ with their computer, devices, software, and ‘personalized learning’.

These are the companies which have lobbyists championing the ‘ditch the traditional textbook and let’s get everyone on-line’ sales pitch. All the while, the legislators stare googly-eyed at the prospect of how going 100% digital will make them an ‘education rock star’ with the voters back home. If you believe the hype, there’s so much digital goodness to be had in education, it’s a wonder the entire nation isn’t running over with saints!

Warriors, make no mistake, the CCSS Machine has proven time and time again, that by every available means, it is out to assimilate everyone in its path. The question is, how willing are we to stop this?

 

Controlling the Authority

A very important follow up to Monday’s article about local school boards.

 “We’ll also address how city school boards, private schools, home education, and, charters authorities will be treated in the ‘ESSA Era’.” 

Before that closing statement, I also shared with you how I noticed a pattern of counties in NC which chose to be held to AdvancEd’s standard of accrediting. I’ve got some information about AdvancEd below. Here is what I’ve previously written about them.

AdvancEd is chosen by several States to be the ones which hold school boards accountable. Here are just a few noteworthy items about the mindset behind the company holding your board members (schools and States, too) accountable.

1) Be collective! “The AdvancED Accreditation Policies and Procedures outlined in this document represent the unified policies and procedures for accreditation from AdvancED and its Accreditation Divisions: North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), herein collectively referred to as AdvancED.”

What does this mean for the school board? Any and all schools wishing to be a part of the AdvancEd ‘team’, must abide by all the policies and procedures laid out by AdvancEd.
AdvancEd serves school districts, b) systems of schools, c) corporations, and, d) Education Service Agencies, (ESAs).

{*Note, ESAs may or may not be included in our LEAs and SEAs (Local Education Agencies; State Education Agencies). According to the national group for ESAs, there are over 500 service oriented groups in 45 States. With ESSA’s increased push for P3s (public, private partnerships), CCSS and/or CCR aligned Professional Development, and other global agenda items, we’re sure to see these service groups become more of a presence in our local school boards.}

2) Be global! According to a NC General Assembly document,  AdvancED represents tens of thousands of schools and districts across the United States and 69 countries worldwide“.

Considering the per school/ed service agency (ex: Sylvan Learning Centers)/school board, this will be quite a profit maker for AdvancEd.

I found an AdvancEd Application from 2016, where the Group was seeking  Pennsylvania’s authority to operate in businesses like Sylvan. Kumon Math Centers were included, along with others.

Since I frequently give you NC information to use to see where to look in your State:

1) A NC County’s (2012-13) AdvancEd Report (Note the CCSS Machine agenda/ties)  click here

2) According to the NC State Board of Education’s Accreditation information, schools must be accredited, BUT they do NOT have to choose AdvancEd. See the document below for what the SBE (State Board of Ed) considers a ‘savings’ for schools to be accredited.

As another example for where to look, the NC State Legislative Accreditation Document shows how the command chain works.

How will ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) change this? (*Note: while ESSA may change accreditation, the HEA, (Higher Education Act’s) upcoming re-authorization will most definitely change the process.)

Before we move on, what do we, as Warriors do, when we discover our county school board adheres to BOTH AdvancEd and our State Board’s accreditation? Does that mean our taxpayer dollars are twice used without our voice?! If only one is adhered to, which one wins out over the other? Is it the State or AdvancED?!

So, How Do Charter School Boards Fit In?:

These are not actually ‘school boards’ in a traditional sense. The authorizing body is called a “NC Charter Advisory Board”. Written out in NC General State Statute 115C Article 14A.
The Article begins with, “authorize a system of charter schools to provide opportunities for teachers, parents, pupils, and community members to establish and maintain schools that operate independently of existing schools.” Sounds great, doesn’t it?! “Independent of existing schools…”

IF this is true, why do we see the same pro CSSS Member groups involved?! I hope you see the irony below:

What do charter school Advisory Members have for requirements as laid out in 115C Article 14a? I’m so glad you want to know. (*Note: this Chapter is 23 pages long.)

1) Collectively strong, experience wise with “public and non profit goverance,  management and finance, assessment, curriculum and instruction, public charter schools, and public education law. All appointed members of the Advisory Board shall have demonstrated an understanding of and a commitment to charter schools as a strategy for strengthening public education.”

, re-read that last line, please.

2) These APPOINTED members serve in 4 year terms.

3) These members basically become the State Board of Education’s cheeerleaders for charter schools.

4) A new office within the NC Dept. of Public Instruction was created per this 14a chapter.
It’s known as the  Office of Charter Schools. Here’s the ‘kicker’, the Office is ‘subject to the supervision, direction, and control of the State Board of Education’. As part of the subjection, more appointees will be put in places of power.

Warriors, do you see a pattern here? More appointees means LESS VOICE by taxpaying citizens!


In NC, Charters And AdvancEd Meet:

Warriors, if you recall yesterday’s article, I laid out for you quite a few questions about school boards and the pro CCSS Machine member ties.

AdvancEd has been mentioned in more than one NC County. For example, I told you the county I live in has written in their school board policy to maintain their accreditation ties to AdvancEd and/or the State Board

Iredell Charter is also a ‘tutition free’ public charter school. There is a ton of information you should read if you are interested in learning how a ‘tutition free’ public school is governed. However, look below for a better definition of HOW charter schools are funded.

One more thing about Iredell Charter. It’s a Charter School USA managed educational institution. I tied AdvancEd to Charter Schools USA back in 2014. The focus of that article was the behavior management being bred in these ‘alternative’ schools.

What About Private Education and Homeschooling?

Here in NC, private schools and homeschools are under the authority of the NC DNPE (North Carolina Department of Non Public Education). As a ‘retired’ home educator in NC, I know this Department well. I’ve seen it shift from helping separate public education from private (NC considers homeschooling a legal form of private education).

However, since 2013, this Department has been ‘relaxed’. How? A law set forth to protect homeschooling (see Part 3 of the law) was changed ever so slightly under the guise of giving MORE choices to those families who chose to educate their own children.

The purpose, as one NC General Assembly member stated, was to ‘purposely blur the lines between public education and homeschooling.’

Guess what? It happened. Once of the BEST ways in which the lines were blurred was through the NC Virtual Public School. Thanks to ESSA, the blurring of lines will INCREASE.

ncvpsNotice that NC’s Virtual Public School is also carrying out the State Board of Education’s bidding: ‘producing modern learners’ for the “21st Century”.

Warriors, let’s not forget that some States have home education out in the open and not protected under private education clauses. Think about this, homeschool students use the same nationally normed assessments. If they haven’t been mandated to use the nationally normed assessments so far, they will be very soon.

So, how will ESSA play out for charters, private schools, and home education?

Here are just a few ways:
Titles funding (example, Title One is the largest federal funding stream and is used in all school districts; Title Four is for block grants; think 21st Century Community Learning Centers)
Data mining
High stakes assessments
College and career readiness
STEM
American Apprenticeships

Know Thy Local Board, Parts 1 and 2

Part One:

Warriors Against Common Core, how well do you know your local school board? Are you a school board member? If so, how well do you know the State laws for your important position in the community? If you are a school board member, read what I’ve found and ask yourself, ‘Am I okay with this?’
These questions and more await us in today’s in-depth article.

The Search Began:

I was recently contacted by a concerned NC citizen. She needed help in figuring out what is State law for school boards, does local policy adhere to State law, and, is there any policy which side-steps the State, and goes to a federal level of compliance. All excellent questions.

I shared with her I’d already found one NC county school board with a local policy which, from all appearances, seems to side-step the State of NC and pledge compliance to the federal level. (See below)

Warriors, I profess that I am not a lawyer, but with a policy which reads like this, it certainly calls into question, why is a county school board appearing to go around the State law to pledge adherence at the federal level?

FYI: The ‘NC Standard Course of Study’, aka, ‘Essential Standards’ (Common Core rebrand) are written into State law. Look for NC General Statute 115C, Article 8.

While I didn’t find a similar policy for the county I was contacted about, what I found in our State law is worth sharing. It also gives us some BIG questions to have answered!

Part Two:

The School Board Laws In NC General Statute 115C, Article 5:

1) Access the Statute here. You’ll notice that the specific legislation is 22 pages. One of the most immediate concerns we should all be thinking ahead about: Will school boards across America change much under the ESSA mandates?

1’s Reality: Here in NC, our school boards are locally elected. However, not every State is the same. Elected or not, what does it mean locally? ESSA  increases power, both at federal and State levels.

2) In the paragraph marked 115C-36 (Page 1), Said boards of education shall have general control and supervision of all matters pertaining to the public schools in their respective administrative units and they shall enforce the school law in their respective units.”
The big questions: What is ‘school law’? Does the ‘enforcement’ mean ‘any and all measures’? What group holds the school board in check to ensure local citizens there’s no manipulation of the assigned power?

2’s Reality: Under ESSA, all education MUST be aligned to post-secondary readiness as defined by WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). WIOA is not a specific ‘school law’. It DOES encompass education, but it is, after all, a U.S. Dept. of Labor law. How will NC, or, for that matter, ANY State, fare locally with their school boards when a workforce based law dictates education?!

3) Near the bottom of Page 2 and continuing on Page 3, “The local board of education shall revise electoral district boundaries from time to time as provided by this subsection.”
Wait, What?! Yes, according to NC Law, local boards can adjust districts. BUT these are depedent on federal Census information. Supposedly, the benefit is financial, BUT, consider these realities, Warriors:

a) The Census is being used by the CCSS Machine to orchestrate neighborhoods, manhandle museums and libraries, and more. From right here, in the town I live in, an excerpt from this article about local control and federal overreach.
“* You will see lots of data (includes the U.S. Census) and graphs used to support the moves; you’ll see the increased push for social and economic equality;”

b) ESSA’s codification of Promise Neighborhoods, as well as the continued creation of 21st Century Community Learning Centers.

c) Does your State have ‘Prosperity Zones’? NC does. There’s even another State Statute in place to streamline jobs and their training. By now, we know that ESSA is the ‘missing link’ between jobs and training. While the article about the Zones is from 2015, you can see just how overreaching the federal government is and how State districts will directly play into the overreaches.

4) Page 4, under the paragraph 115C-40, this excerpt, “Local boards of education, subject to any paramount powers vested by law in the State Board of Education or any other authorized agency shall have general control and supervision of all matters pertaining to the public schools in their respective local school administrative units;”
Your big question here should be, does my State have similar language? If so, what other agencies in addition to the SBE, have control over my school board? What about heavy influence over the school board, is there a tie to the CCSS Machine?

5) Pages 9-21 spell out the 63 responsibilites and powers  local school boards in NC have, as well as are authorized to carry out. I won’t list all 63, but, I will point to the ones we should all be looking at, regardless of where you live. Each will be followed by a question to consider.
5’s Realities: a)  “To Provide the Opportunity to Receive a Sound Basic Education”, page 9.
Who decides the soundness of a basic education? ESSA says the States must have the Secretary of Education’s approval for what’s taught. Where’s the local control there?

b) “To Regulate Extracurricular Activities”. With ESSA’s 24/7/365 mandate for anytime, anywhere learning (you can’t have student achievement without being hooked to a computer device), this is going to be almost impossible for local school boards to carry out.

c) “To Accept and Administer Federal or Private Funds”, page 10. Warriors, this is huge!
ESSA increases the amount of P3s in our schools. P3s are public-private partnerships. We have seen the damage of P3s in our educational systems across America. One of the biggest supporters for interferring business with education is Business RoundtableBR was big on Common Core; they are also behind CC’s other names: CCR (College and Career Ready) and CTE (Career Tech Education). Let’s not forget some other big names in creating P3 overload in our local schools: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, your State Chambers, and Bill Gates. (*Note: Items 32, 32a, 34, and, 34a on Page 15 are directly related to MORE P3 education through Career Tech Education, Community Colleges, or School-to-Work.)

d) “To Sponsor or Conduct Educational Research”, bottom of Page 10. ESSA’s ‘educational research’ includes an in-home assessment for how well connected to the internet everyone is America is. See my article.Also, Warriors, any time you see ‘educational research’, think of what the underlying activity: data mining. Then, the big question: What group or groups did my local school board hire?

e) “To Adopt Rules and Policies Limiting the Noninstructional Duties of Teachers”, Page 13.
ESSA’s not kind to teachers at all. They are expected to teach to post-secondary readiness, regardless of age or grade, their pay will be factored by overall student success and engagement, AND, they will become quasi-doctors via the social emotional learning and behavior interventions. (*Notes: Look directly below the ‘teachers’ on Page 13 and you’ll see their training, as well as principals. Use all 3 embedded links directly above and apply. Then, refer to Page 18, Items 43 and 46) Our big question here: What pro CCSS/CCR/CTE/STEM groups is my school using at their discretion OR the State’s bidding which train, incentivize, or other wise reward for aligning teachers to ESSA?

f) Page 15, “To Appoint Advisory Councils”. This is legalized in yet another NC State General Statute. Appointing key positions is dangerous. No vote means no voice. This, in the long run, mutes the taxpayer’s and parent’s voices. Big question: Are these ‘advisors’ local or are they somehow connected to the educational reform?

Closing:

I noticed in searching some of the NC local school board policy pages, that more than 1 have not only our State Board of Ed to satisfy, but AdvancED, too. What is AdvancED? A  sold out CCSS Machine member organization. In my County, the exact words are:
“Maintain accreditation of its schools by AdvancED and/or the State Board of Education.”
