Draft Plan or Daft Plan?

To my fellow anti Fed Ed and CCSS Warriors, it is increasingly clear our States have sold us out. They did it with RttT (Race to the Top), the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative), the constant re-branding of CCSS (Common Core State Standards), and everything in between which would connect education to workforce based outcomes.

It was SUPPOSED to stop with ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), but as we’ve researched and shared, that, too was a sell out.

By now, you’ve probably seen and heard about the States which already turned in their ESSA State Plans to the U.S. Dept. of Education, only to have them bounce back faster than a bad check. Have you been able to get a look at any of the State Plans which will be due in September 2017?

The last time I looked at the NC State ESSA Draft Plan was back in Feb. 2017. It’s where I compared the alignment of not only NC’s ESSA Plan, but how strikingly similar it was to SC’s Draft Plan at the time. If you missed the article highlighted above, I urge you to read it. Not only does it impact ALL 50 States, but there is quite a bit that those ESSA braggarts left out we need to know. (For example, did you know that ALL 50 States must meet parts of the General Education Provisions Act as well as all the mandates laid out in ESSA?)

In the most recent version of the NC ESSA State Draft, the document is 184 pages long. Oh, and more color pictures have been added. See below. The added emphasis is mine.

If you’d like to access the entire Plan2017draft-state-plan

So, are you wondering about the “Theory” behind NC’s Daft (I mean) Draft Plan? Look below. You’ll find this particular section on Page 8 of the Plan, directly beneath the snazzy color picture you see above.

ncdamnWarriors, do you see this?! Do you believe it?!

The State of NC, just like the other 49, is using YOUR child as a test subject in an unknown and unproven system with YOUR tax dollars! (*Note: back in 2016, I published an article detailing some of the ESSA experimentation which would be continuing CCSS or creating more alignment.)

The CCSS Machine is so busy pumping out the jargon of ‘personalized learning’ (which is a coded educratic phrase), that we are missing the point: teachers should gauge the learning pace, not students. Teachers should be free to use their proven ideas in the classroom, not leav it up to professionals not designed for classroom interactions.

This is like telling your 6 year old that you’ll let them get behind the wheel of your car and HOPE it all works out.

Do you see the ‘transforming from the industrial age’ statement? Yep, NC’s bent over backwards to make sure it’s one of the most digitalized and conformed States in the nation. At every grade level and for every educational choice. I’ve documentend it well, as have other citizens.

deludeded

To show you how NC officials feel about ‘personalized learning’, you need to see their words, not mine.

statepillar
Click to enlarge the screen shot (or find the evidence on Page 9). Four ‘pillars’ which are to be STATE supported, not parent chosen, for your child’s education. Since these pillars are ‘state led’, do not think the federal government hasn’t mandated HOW the leadership is to take place. If so, why are so many State Plans being rejected? It’s because ESSA’s mandates do NOT allow MORE State-led control!

As far as ‘state supported’? No, try state controlled by way of the federal government, instead.

As far as NC’s Daft (oops, I meant ‘draft’) definition of ’empowered educators’, a very loose idea. Why? It’s to fit ESSA’s mandates to allow those who partner with education to be considered an ‘educator’. Remember, the increase of the business world in education ESSA has mandated? This loose definition of ‘educator’ fits perfectly.

empower

Other Daft Moves by NC?

1) For ‘early education’ the B3 Interagency Council (partners the NC DPI, NC Dept. of Health/Human Services, and the NC Partnership for Children). Their overreach into the younger students’ lives? Data driven pathways.

2) For ‘early education’ continuing the CCSS aligned “NC Reads” program. It’s supposed to have kids ready to read by the time they get to the classroom. I think NC’s daftness is really showing here. For our Kindergartner students, class is where they SHOULD learn to read, not come already prepared.

3) For all students, a new interagency for the “NC Whole Child”. The premise? A ‘whole child’ in a ‘whole school’ to learn to be part of a ‘whole community’.  Note that you’ll see both the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and ASCD as creators. Both are part of the CCSS Machine.

whole

To  access the entire “NC Whole Child” program, visit here.

4) For the Teachers, ‘digital competency standards’ as derived by iNACOL, a huge CCSS Machine member organization. iNACOL is part of the global push for aligned education in America. These ‘standards’ are also a continued effort for NC that have been backed by our NC General Assembly.

5) For all students, ‘global-readiness’. While NC’s been globalizing students before now, under the Draft ESSA State NC Plan, more infrastructure changes will take place to continue this alignment. What does this mean? More internet digital access, Smart Cities, global standards, and so much more. Here’s a recently published article. With all the infrastructure changes, you’ll need to look for Innovation Districts/schools, Lab Schools and similar. You’ll also find infrastructure changes in Head Start, Early Head Start, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, and more.

Of The “Proven” CCSS Aligned Programs NC will keep:

1) You’ll see Home Base (a massive SLDS system put in place by Pearson Publishing, but now run by the NC DPI). See the Financial Evidence .
2) Smart Start/NC PreK  (a 2016 look at how ESSA was to hurt the littlest learners)
3) Career and College Promise (ties to a National CBP, Competency Based Pathway System)
4) NC Virtual Public School (a 2015 exposure)
5) Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) The 2016 article I published revealed not only much about PBIS, but how ESSA and Pearson capitalize on this system to alter attitudes in our children. You’ll also see an SC school district’s example. You’ll also see how those 21st Century Community Learning Centers are woven in.

CommonCore-Equal-Fail
Warriors, the CC Curriculum isn’t going away, even with ESSA in place.

Closing:

For more emphasis, this  2016 article where I pointed out the massive NC deceptions in much of what you see above, is offered to you.

What of similar nature is happening in your State? How ‘daft’ are our leaders? How ‘daft’ do they assume WE are?!

Lastly, Warriors, what are we WILLING to do about it? Shall we continue to offer up our students as test subjects while the powers in place try to run education?

Education’s “Cooked Goose”

Warriors, we know education in America can be considered a ‘hot mess’. The state of education in the ESSA Era (Every Student Succeeds Act) could also be referred to as a ‘train wreck’.

For this article, I chose ‘cooked goose’. Why? It’s meaning as a phrase expresses spoiling plans; ruining someone’s opportunities. In other words, succeeding won’t happen.

Warriors, plainly stated, ESSA will NOT give our student success at what THEY want. It is designed to link itself to the WIOA, STEM Act, HEA, and all other related workforce/education laws. (*WIOA: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math; HEA: Higher Education Act)

Before we point the finger exclusively to Washington, D.C.; we must point it back to the CCSS Machine and it’s association to UNESCO.
************************************************************************************
Yes, before Bill Gates signed that ‘one curriculum for every child’ agreement (2004), there was the UNESCO publication called the International Classification of Standards.
************************************************************************************
The document was used as a basis for a presentation in 2009 by a team of ‘education experts’. Sutton and Golder. What was the point of this team in using a 1997 document?
***********************************************************************************
It was the same thing which prompted Gates to sign his agreement:

By Aligning TECHNOLOGY in EDUCATION, More ALIGNMENT in LIFE

For where’s there technology, there’s data. Where there’s data, there’s money to be made.
Quality education? Left by the wayside, Warriors.
************************************************************************************

Who Are Sutton and Golder?

Dr. Staurt Sutton is from the University of Washington at Seattle
Diny Golder
(aka: Diny Golder-Dardis) is a co-founder of P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) She is also key to JES and Company.
(*Note: the embedded link for Golder is to a 2003 Symposium paper about increasing technology. You’ll see her roles in both capacities mentioned. You’ll also see the U.S. Dept. of Education’s involvement. You’ll also be directed to some external links about the CEO Forum. I was unsuccessful accessing these. However, I did find a 2001 publication by the CEO Forum. It’s cover states it all.)

CEO

Back to Sutton and Golder’s involvement:
Together this team produced 3 white papers together. All 3 were based on increasing technology in our classrooms; for teachers and students. They wrote these 3 papers for the ASN (Achievement Standards Network).

If you’ve not heard of the ASN, it was created by Golder and Sutton with grant money (2 grants) awarded them by the NSF (National Science Foundation), under the JES and Company’s name.

NSF is the group which created the acroynm “STEM” for marketing purposes in education. STEM is a tool used by the UNESCO for pushing the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in education.

Helping expand the ASN was a generous Gates grant award in 2012 to JES and Co.

In 2013, my dear anti CCSS Warrior friend, Donna Garner, published an article tying ASN, Jes and Co. to the CSCOPE (TX’s supposedly not-CCSS educational framework and standards) and the EdGate organization.

donnawork
************************************************************

ASN is now owned by D2L. D2L was founded in 1999 by John Baker of Canada. Today, D2L has some of the biggest CCSS Machine members as partners. Their ‘job’? Tying more technology and education together.)

Other Sutton and Goldar Work:

In 2008, it was a paper on matching education resources to education standards for all the grade levels between K and 12th grade. This document appears to be for the National Science Digital Library. It’s about how to use metadata.
In 2009, it was all about discovering concepts in education via learning objectives. It is in this document they base their findings and solutions off of the 1997 UNESCO Report. (*Note: the 2010 paper they wrote was for Australia’s curriculum and configuring it to RDFs).

SuttonGolderUN
UNESCO:

The 1997 Standards document was updated, just 2 years later (1999). It is in this one where you’ll begin to see the UIS (UNESCO Institute for Statistics) begin to surface.

STATISTICS means DATA; DATA needs MINING to be put into STATISTICS.
*********************************************************************************
Look at the way it’s portrayed on the website:

undata

Look at the reality of data ‘transformation’:

UNdatatrack

Warriors, why would I use ‘track’? Think about it, the technology increases in American classrooms are designed to track progress; to measure mental abilities. These results are then used to track the courses/classess and eventual careers. ESSA, WIOA, and HEA embed it. STEM increases it! There’s another reason I chose the word ‘track’:

pressureon
Warriors, ‘technical’ means technology use, which we know is data. We also know, that technology is part of ‘innovation’. Innovation has been used as a tool to update ‘infrastructure’. Education is being used as a tool to pump up jobs and the economy.

Do we see ANYWHERE in these contrived plots: a child’s desire to become what THEY want? Do we see anywhere how teachers can TEACH without conformity?! NO!

Education’s goose has been royally cooked!

I urge you to read the information from the above screen shot here. It will lay out the indicators by which our students and teachers will be aligned to. It will explain how this data is to be used, and include the GAML (Global Alliance to Monitor Learning). The GAML is doing its own ‘cooking geese’ with assessments and data mining.

Warriors, remember, the SDGs are all to be in place by 2030.

Tying This Back To The American Push for Technology/Data:

Warriors, the way ESSA is written, an huge increase in technology, data mining is in the works. It is because of the foundational shift created in part, by folks like Sutton and Goldar, that we are so far down the path to comply with the U.N.
Sutton and Goldar are hardly alone. We know the CCSS Machine has been infiltrating companies, legislators, and everywhere in between to force us to assimilate into the overall plan to ruin education.

One of the biggest data mining tools which unites education and jobs, here in America are the SLDS and the WQDI (Student Longitudinal Data System and Workforce Quality Data Initiative). These track your student (regardless of their educational choice) from the classroom to their careers…and beyond.

Keeping It Local

Warriors Against the Core, we all know how great it can be to have things available to us without having to go too far from home. BUT, what happens when all the ‘local’ education becomes anything but local?!

We enjoy not having to travel  so far to recieve an education. We need to keep in mind it’s set up for us by those who live far away. We WILL have to adhere to its constraints..like it or not.

It should go without saying that the constraints will include Common Core, in one of its many forms.

The CC Forms Are ‘A-plenty’, But Hardly Original Or Local:

As we know, CC is only one form of the modern education reform’s educratic buzz word ‘game’. There’s the more adult form of CC: CTE (Career Tech Education); then, there’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); there’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math); NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards); NGSS (Next Gen Social Studies); C3 (College, Career, Civics Life); CPs (Career Pathways); AAI (American Apprencticeship Iniatiative); CCR (College/Career Readiness), and, probably others we’ve yet to hear about.

The goal, regardless of the name, is the same: Workforce based education for 21st competency based learners.

As we know, none..not ONE of the above alphabet soup names is locally written, created, inspired, or otherwise fashioned together after. Every bit of the programs above is in the CCSS Machine from a top-down force. I do not mean a D.C. to your backyard force, I mean a globally driven force.

So, it should be NO surprise that when we wake up in our homes across America to face another day, we find the CCSS Machine has made one more stride toward us. Today, it may target your little ones; tomorrow, it might be the adults who are targeted; the following day could see our learners who are gifted tapped for the Machine. We may find that our special needs students will also be ‘blessed’ with educratic reform.

The point of the CCSS Machine is that NO age group will escape the top-down education reform.

The Proof Is Right Before Us:

Maybe you’ve seen, Warriors, the ads on social media for education grants awarded to those citizens in America over 50. That’s right, those over the “Golden Age” can get ‘free money’ to go back to school. But, what real LOCAL influence will these people receive if and when they go back to the classroom?

freeseniors

In the picture above, the article shared that across America, certain community colleges waived tutition for students over 60.

That’s great, right? I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff?! But, as I’ve shared with you time and time again, our community colleges are being used as workforce education mills for the CCSS Machine.

If I’m one of these lovely elderly citizens, I may not know that by going to college for ‘free’ is laced with workforce agenda. If you know someone like this, share my  August 2016 article detailing the CCSS Machine’s power grab for citizens ages 50 and over.

Wait, though…what if I’m a student under age 50?! What waits for me at my local community college or for-profit school?

The CCSS Machine Grinds On:

Warriors, you know we’ve seen and heard plenty to prove CCSS is after the zero to post-secondary set. Somehow, that’s EASY to talk about. But, no matter how much evidence surfaces for those above a college graduate level (say, around 30 years and older), the conversations become hushed, or worse, non-existent.

It’s also quite okay to say CCSS is infiltrating public education. Try using that mindset backed by evidence for all the other school choices and you can be laughed at, scoffed at, or, my favorite; wearing your tin foil hat a bit too tight.

Since we know the CCSS Machine is linked to the UN’s Master Agenda, we should be ready admit that NO AGE limit is to be free and safe from the reform happening.

So, why was education chosen as the ‘silver bullet’ of the change agents?
Education is an on-going process. It is open to any age limit. Learning, without the CCSS Machine, is a natural progression.

Ah, The Aligned and Defined:

Community Colleges, as I’ve proven before are the ideal location for the CCSS Machine to grasp anyone who’s not been its grasp before. How? Think about it, home educated students often choose (or have chosen for them) their local community colleges for dual enrollment, or, as a stop gap between their K-12 education and any further education. Community colleges welcome those who are between careers, needing to take a course of two for their job, rehabilitate a person who’s been in prison, or, anyone going back to school after some absence.

Community Colleges are also beacons in their respective towns. Local taxpayer funds go into these schools..but so do federal dollars. Warriors, that, as we know, is the downfall of every single State in the United States. The local control, the local say completely gets muted when federal funds are involved. So, what’s the latest anti CCSS News as far as community colleges go? How will this news impact any age person who attends a community college?

The Digital “Do-Gooders”:

Warriors, if you’ve not clicked on any of the embedded links so far, you won’t know how ESSA, WIOA, and HEA (Every Student Succeeds Act/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Higher Education Act) are woven into every age group.

That stated, I am positive, you, as an  anti CCSS Warrior, do know about the ‘digital do-gooders’. You know them by their name or their sales pitches. These are the companies which act ‘educational’ with their computer, devices, software, and ‘personalized learning’.

These are the companies which have lobbyists championing the ‘ditch the traditional textbook and let’s get everyone on-line’ sales pitch. All the while, the legislators stare googly-eyed at the prospect of how going 100% digital will make them an ‘education rock star’ with the voters back home. If you believe the hype, there’s so much digital goodness to be had in education, it’s a wonder the entire nation isn’t running over with saints!

One such company, Vital Source has created a wonderful (and I do mean it sarcastically) guide of digital ‘do-goodness’ for EdSurge (a sold out CCSS Machine member organization).

vitalsurge
This short video will show you how all the digital goodness (in this case the data mining) will work together to help your school.

If you are an educator, this video will show you have to ‘leverage’ data for better ‘personalized learning’.

For those who are in the school leadership positions, Google’s using the digital opportunities to include school administrators in the data sharing of what goes on in the classroom. See this article.

Closing:

Warriors, make no mistake, the CCSS Machine has proven time and time again, that by every available means, it is out to assimilate everyone in its path. The question is, how willing are we to stop this?

CCSS Machine Potpourri

scarystates
To my fellow Anti CCSS/Fed Led Ed Warriors, I have gathered the following miscellaneous Pro Common Core fodder. Why? Since ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is now law, the propaganda from the CCSS Machine is working overtime to produce as much BS as it can.

If you haven’t seen the following items, you should! While the false facts are flying, we have to work HARDER to share the truth! Is this a challenge? Of course it is! Can we do it?! Sure we can!! Share this article with other anti CCSS/Fed Led Ed Warriors, discuss what you can do to help those in your area find out what REALLY is going on, not what the CCSS Machine cronies say!!

First up, the President of the NEA (National Educators Association) gives us a rundown of all teachers do in today’s classrooms. Notice where the true education ends up in her list. Notice the arrogance in her face as she runs down this list and then remember ALL the latest CCSS Machine moves, resources, and legislation which has been produced in the name of parental right being usurped or taken away! It is no wonder the CCSS Machine claims kids don’t need parents!

Secondly, as one of my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors stated, ‘who needs the truth, it just gets ignored.’ This particular video gives us a look into MORE of what is happening in our schools. I guess the NEA failed to mention this on their snarky list.

Third, The ESSA has embedded a tremendous amount of behavior modification activities, supportive programs and services, as well as other RTI (Response to Invertion) methods. Yet, it spite of it, the real evidence is coming out…RTIs are NOT working!! Yet, MORE are being planned, created, and will be used!! The CCSS Machine is most certainly on a BS mission with this portion of the ESSA!! See: http://www.makespecialeducationwork.com/response-intervention-falls-short-2/#sthash.DVCN7NbT.Aq1YzW81.dpbs

Related: Where are the RTI items in the ESSA? For one thing, they will appear via 21st Century Community Learning Centers/Full Community Schools and through Promise Neighborhood Programs. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/04/meet-your-new-neighbor-essa-seriously/
To help illustrate this, see the screen shot below from my first article in a series of 3 where I laid out the 2017 Federal Budget Education Requests (think almost $70 billion dollars). The link to the article is immediately beneath the screen shot. You can access it to not only get the ESSA Final Conference Report download, but you can access the other two articles detailing the Budget plans, as well as how it fits in the ESSA. The Budget Requests will also reveal how entire communities, the post-secondary educational system, teachers and leaders, and each State will be impacted.

Closing:

I hope you will continue to help me raise as much awareness to what the REAL truths are about the ESSA. Do not be discouraged if you feel NO ONE is listening. Among the Warriors, we have heard the term ‘crickets’ when we think no one cares.

It is easy to believe no one is hearing you, especially when life is so busy. However, please know that your voice is probably being heard by someone. It is your voice those around you need to hear LOUDER than those spewing lies and making light of how our educational system in being ruined and transformed into a nanny’s house. Remember, to speak LOUDER doesn’t mean we have to shout, it just means we have to use a firm, knowledge based voice.

To say something is fine, but to have the actual language and what it means is what will make your voices BOOM! Still not sure about HOW you can make a BOOMING voice without yelling? Look at the screen shot above. That is a start. It gives the specific sections you can point others to. Think your legislative/local leaders have actually read the over 1,000 page ESSA Report OR the almost 400 page ESSA Law? I doubt it. Why? If they had, they would be jumping up and down with anger of just how this Law will HARM America, not FIX it! If you would like my 2 and 1/2 page PDF document which is very similar to the screen shot above. While I made it for my NC State Legislators, it is suitable for ALL the States. HOW? Each of our States will experience the SAME mandates of the ESSANCedover

If you need to add your contact information, please do. If you need to address this to your State, please do so, as well. Should you need me for any reasons connected to this War Against the Core (or you wish your Legislators to contact me), all my information is included.

Now, More Than Ever, We MUST Fight On!

This was from the NCLB days. Since ESSA is now in the picture......
This was from the NCLB days. Since ESSA is now in the picture……

Well, Warriors Against the Core, we have seen our Congress members fail us miserably. We have witnessed, first hand, how the CCSS Machine chewed through the red tape; influenced those in D.C.; and now has only one more stop before nationalized education hits the local schools. Oh, I know, all those media reports stated Common Core was dead. However, Warriors, think back to what you’ve learned here about those IN the Machine, their efforts, their investments. Other researchers and I have SHOWN you consistently that not only is CCSS (and all its other names) here to stay, the law headed to the U.S. President’s desk will chain us (as a nation) to CCSS (and all its related resources)!

If you missed my article about what do NOW (this was the article I published after the disastrous U.S. House vote on ESSA), I urge you to go back and read it.  https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/the-morning-after-ccss-lives-on/

Here’s an excerpt I think you can well identify with: “Our educational reform being handled so illegally (consider the U.S. Constitution’s parameters for a ‘we the people’ government), so rushed, so without due diligence is the worst example of leadership I have ever seen. It certainly is the worst Christmas present Congress could give America!”

If you still are not sure how to pick up your battle weapons and move forward (for we simply MUST do so), please consider the Women on the Wall phone call from Dec. 3rd, 2015. We discussed what kinds of actions would be appropriate. Listen to the broadcast, then think about how it applies EVENMORESO now that the Senate has also given the citizens a disastrous vote). Where We Need to Look….Again:

During the Senate’s ‘debate’ from the past couple of days, a lot of groups were thanked, as well as individuals. If you listened closely, you heard all kinds of information we, the anti CCSS Warriors, already knew and could piece together, but thanks to bragging orators, we learned some things we maybe didn’t know, we certainly got a list of those involved.

Why does this matter? Think about it, until we knew what people were involved in creating CCSS, we couldn’t discover how they connected to the agenda to ruin America via education. (example: David Coleman) At first, we heard a person’s name, saw they had a fancy title with a big educational group and assumed they had our student’s best interest in mind. Keep in mind that while we were watching the proceedings, those who are standing to literally profit the most from this new law, were using social media to promote and call attention to their new products, services, and standards we will be seeing very soon. Think I’m bluffing? Here’s an example of what I saw on Twitter debuting on 12/9/15:

So much for state led, local control where leaders and educators get to make up their own minds how to run things!
So much for state led, local control where leaders and educators get to make up their own minds how to run things!

By the way, the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers)  is quick to tell you these new Standards are voluntary. If you’d like the pdf file to do you own fact finding:
ProfessionalStandardsforEducationalLeaders2015forNPBEAFINAL
I don’t trust, for a minute, anything the CCSSO has to say, they have lied to us, as a nation way too many times to be trustworthy.

Moving on, TODAY, the 10th of December; we can be a more informed Warrior! We KNOW which groups/people are NOT interested in our student’s best interests, but rather the inappropriate agenda that is knitted throughout the CCSSI( Common Core State Standards Initiative).

If you would like to review those Congressional sessions (both from the House and Senate) you have the Congressional Record website, where all the proceedings are documented.
For example, the link below is the one where you can find the Senate’s every word spoken and recorded from yesterday, 12/9/15. The first page is a summary, however, if you want a verbatim account, click on the highlighted page numbers.
See:  http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/B?r114:@FIELD(FLD003+d)+@FIELD(DDATE+20151209)

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/R?r114:FLD001:S08509-S08513

If this isn’t to your liking, you can access C-Span’s archives as well. For example, here are the two links from 12/8/15. Why those and not the ones from the 9th? You are listening out for names, many were stated out loud on both days, but the 8th’s ‘debate’ was much longer than the 9th’s. The names will help us when it comes time to look at the State level of control.

Warriors, NBC News has stated the President will sign the ESSA into law, today, the 10th of December. See:  http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/obama-sign-education-law-rewrite-power-shift-states-n477656
Warriors, we MUST not give up! State led education, as we know is a fallacy, but the CCSS Machine knows that as well. The media will continue to spin how the states can now have control, DO NOT let it divide us.

Yes, there will be many anti CCSS Warriors assume all is over and rejoice. Many others in this War Against the Core will pack up their toys and go home. However, we MUST continue to expose the ESSA’s language! We MUST continue to read the law! When we meet a legislator or citizen who is falling for (or has fallen for) the rhetoric of local control, we NEED to have the page number of the ESSA, topic, and, real time meaning to refute the lies! Truth, my fellow Warriors, TRUTH is what sets us free!

Monday Musings: The CCSS “Are You Kidding Me?!” Files

While this cartoon was depicted a U.S. Congress run by monopolists, it can easily resemble the 'CCSS Machine' running education.
While this cartoon was depicted a U.S. Congress run by monopolists, it can easily resemble the ‘CCSS Machine’ running education.

As October winds down, anti CCSS Warriors, the hype supporting CCSS appears to be ramping up. Today’s post will show you how. Use the information to keep the pressure to STOP ‘Common Core’ (and all its aliases)!

First up, Special Needs:

Those running the CCSS/CTE Machine have made it no secret that ALL students, regardless of their educational choice OR abilities are to be run through the streamlined fare ‘Common Core Standards’ and all its accompanying resources. This, sadly, impacts our special needs kids. IF your family receives any IDEA funding, you are being subjected to CCSS in some way. When the schools receive their IDEA funding (and this includes post-secondary schools or all kinds), your students are most definitely being slammed with Common Core, Career and College Readiness, STEM, and, Career Ed Tech.  To find out MORE, please refer back to https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/19/monday-musings-idea-when-good-goes-ccscte-bad/
If you would like the ECS (Education Commission of the States) document from 2014 where plans to collect more ‘measurements’ of special needs students progress as well as their parents, see: SPtracking To see another way the special needs students were tracked, is a report from 2004. See: SpecNeedsDataCollect If you’d like to learn just how toxic the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) via HR5 (Student Success Act), please read Anita Hoge‘s article where she speaks in plain English how special needs students (as well as all the other types will be marginalized horribly).

Here Come the STEM, CCSS latest moves:

Most folks balk at me when I even dare to mention how STEM is tied to CCSS, yet, the evidence is there. In case you didn’t see the news about the STEM Act passed into law at the federal level, here’s the article where I shared all the news about it. The Act is named “The STEM Education Act of 2015”. Why would a new Act concerning education be a problem? First, it’s at a FEDERAL level! As in ‘federally led education’. On Twitter anti CCSS Warriors refer to it as ‘fed led ed’. Secondly, the federal level law dictates a certain type of course now be included in STEM. Seriously?! Yes!! So where was the parental input? Where was the local level of education? It was excluded…just like we’ve seen from D.C. more and more in our recent past. This Act involves several other federal agencies in education, alignment, and data mining! This Act is so overreaching into education, it will not stop at the school yard’s boundary. No, this one takes education into almost every informal learning environment we could possibly use. For example, your libraries, museums, field trips, and so on. Again, HR5 (see above) has stealthily embedded the CCSS tied-STEM into the language as part of the  ‘afterschool programs’ and ‘wraparound services’.
Read all about it: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/21/wybi-tying-stem-to-ccss-again/

Rumor Has It:

I’m including my release of this past “Weekend’s News” because you have to get the vital information somehow! What do I mean? I’m referring to the ‘block’ I received from social media when I was sharing the truth about what’s up in America and CCSS. Once again, (this isn’t my first time being blocked), and, as other anti CCSS Warriors have experienced, the CCSS Machine tried to stop me. But, the funny thing about truth is..it ALWAYS wins! Thankfully, several of my fellow Warriors, picked up the story and passed it on for me. However, there are many others who didn’t get the what’s up. So, I’ll state briefly WHY the “Weekend News” was so controversial it got blocked.
1) It named certain people as being involved in the corruption of education in America
2) I openly displayed the social media site in some of my screen shots
3) Point by point CCSS/CTE/STEM tied programs were specifically named and tied back to a well known university
4) Of those named, two are legislators in NC and another is running for the US Presidency
5) I exposed the fallacy which was shared over social media that NC had removed CCSS recently, when in fact, the original source was from 2014 AND didn’t tell the entire story!
Get it while you can: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/25/weekend-news-ccss-rumors-abound-at-least-in-nc/

I urge you, read the article. It IS so vital to our War Against the Core! You need to see just how far the CCSS/CTE Machine is going to place specific people in very educational influential positions. Yes, we’ve seen this before, BUT the operators of the CCSS Machine are becoming less and less stealthy about it! We MUST act! We MUST continue to expose the injustice that is happening every day in America via education reform! We know the bottom line isn’t an academic education, it’s about a ‘talent pipeline’ to feed a ‘workforce agenda’.

From ‘Your’ U.S. Dept. of Ed:

As you read this, the US DofEd is hosting a “Parent Camp”. I kid you not. If you use Twitter, be sure to look up ‘#ParentCamp’. You won’t believe the ‘shuck and jive’ dribble about education leading parents. Better yet, why not scoot over to the US DofEd’s Family Engagement page. There you can find all kinds of things the Dept has put together to show you HOW to parent THEIR way! Think I’m joking?! Read this excerpt, “If effective cradle-to-career educational partnerships between home and school are to be implemented with fidelity and sustained, engagement initiatives must include a concerted focus on developing adult capacity, whether through pre- and in-service professional development for educators; academies, workshops, seminars, and workplace trainings for families;” Want to read the rest? Be sure not to miss that one of the 4Cs in this parental persuasion is ‘human capital’!

From The US Chamber of Commerce’s Education and Workforce Committee:

Their latest efforts? Using local Workforce Boards to highlight the skills gap needs to be closed. As I’ve shared in the past (as have other anti CCSS Warriors, there is NOT a skills gap! The CCSS Machine has presented the fallacy that such a gap exists, but it does not)

The skills gap 'fear factor' fallacy is successful because those spreading it, use the wrong numbers s their source.

So, my fellow Warriors Against CCSS, we have MUCH to do and not much time in which to accomplish it!

Musings from the Common Core Diva, So Far in 2015

One of my most distinct messages I've created to express my ire toward the CCSS Machine.
One of my most distinct messages I’ve created to express my ire toward the CCSS Machine.

Hi, anti CCSS Warriors!  Over the past months, each Monday, I’ve shared with you my thoughts regarding anything related to Common Core. Some weeks, you’ve shared those same feelings and other weeks you’ve allowed me the freedom to share with you things which I’ve learned in all my extensive research. I thank you for each opportunity to be a trusted voice. I thank you for challenging me to new aspects and areas in researching.

So Far in 2015:

In no particular order, here are the most pressing of CCSS issues I have felt were worth sharing. Why do I share my personal thoughts? Mainly because I’ve been asked repeatedly to share my thoughts and impressions from all that I’ve uncovered.

Encouraging you, the anti CCSS warrior is of great concern to me because I know what it’s like to fight a big problem with the feeling you’re all alone.

Be sure you review the alerts, as most of them have to do with assessments, policies, laws on the books, and educational entities involved, like charter schools.

Again, thank you for the opportunity to share with you. Together, we are a valuable team. I’m so glad to stand shoulder to shoulder with you. We’re making trouble for the CCSS Machine…and that’s a VERY good thing.

Sic’ ‘Em Saturday: The Power of an Anti CCSS Warrior

In a war, togetherness is a great weapon.
In a war, togetherness is a great weapon.

Hi, my fellow anti CCSS Warriors! I’ve got a great idea for us to band together this Memorial Day weekend. We all want to see CCSS end, right?! We can do this in less than 5 minutes..How, you ask?

Simply use the #myanticcswords on Twitter or Facebook (or other social media) this weekend.

Together our list will grow from the 3 sets of words I’ve used to be the examples. Then, when this weekend is over, the list will be able to be sent in one giant message to those in our state and federal legislative bodies in time to put a serious dent in any re-authorization plans for the ESEA and HEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act and the Higher Education Act). Both are being overseen by Sen. Lamar Alexander. Both are full of more federal overreach into our lives; more CCSS and CTE college/career readiness agenda; data mining; workforce training, and more!!

We MUST act as one AND we must act quickly!

Here’s the shot I took of my 3 tweets (with 3 words each):

Celebrate Memorial Day by helping me get the Anti CCSS words off the ground and off to D.C.!!
Celebrate Memorial Day by helping get the Anti CCSS words off the ground and on to your states capitals and D.C.!!

Just think: 3 little (or big) words can carry SO much power… ‘I love you’; ‘Here I am’; ‘I want to help’, etc.

Three words can carry an image or stir feelings…’I hate tyranny’; ‘I am a patriot’; ‘Common Core Standards’; ‘Career Tech Education’; ‘breaking the law’, etc.

Three words can send a distinct message when they are joined by others. For example, when I was setting up the hashtag, one anti CCSS group picked it up immediately and retweeted it to others. It’s a small start, but it’s a start that will only continue to grow.

So, join me, anti CCSS warriors!! This weekend, tweet as many 3 word phrases as you can so we can retweet them to others, and use them to make such a distinct message of the people’s voices as together we fight the Common Core Machine!

Always hang on to this, my fellow Americans, we’ve been sold a load of ‘snake oil’ via CCSS/CTE and all the other connections. Let’s show the salesmen what they can do with their product!

Let's do the patriotic thing this weekend, fight for our country.
Let’s do the patriotic thing this weekend: fight for our country.

Have you heard the news?! NC has a plan to counter Common Core in the works! That’s right, a grass roots group of dedicated citizens from across the state is working tirelessly to put together a serious alternative to the CCSS in NC. While those in Raleigh appear to be content with the status quo in education, this group of citizens isn’t AND what’s more..they are seeking out other like minded persons to join in on the action. I can’t think of  a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon, can you? (okay, college football season notwithstanding).

Who’s Behind This?:

The NC Citizens Constitutional Caucus is. The Caucus is a group of citizens who wish to aid and assist those elected officials who have committed to follow the U.S. Constitution and the state’s constitution. In addition, the Caucus has purposed itself to helping educate the people in state issues. The goal? To honor our country’s true way politics should work and can work.

What’s the Plan, Man?:

Quite simply, offering the students of NC a much better education than that of CCSS. The NCAFA, NC Academic Freedom Alliance, a portion of the NC Citizens Constitutional Caucus, has been meeting since late 2014. NCAFA has  hosted some meetings and has been educating the general public on what CCSS is, how they have purposed to stop it, why they believe it’s not the best for NC, AND how you can be a part of the action! Meetings are free to attend, open to all interested in saving our students from the abysmal experiences they are having with CCSS. Pretty cool, huh?!

What’s the Replacement for CCSS?

The NCAFA is working quickly to have a complete set of CCSS free standards for NC as soon as possible. This is not to compete with the current NC Academic Standards Review Committee, but rather an option not previously being offered by anyone else to help solve the CCSS wreckage before it causes more unnecessary damage to NC’s educational system.
If you’re not familiar with NC’s past academic standards, then you’ll want to see what you can learn about the “Greensboro Plan”. GP was an excellent set of standards (so I’ve been told by veteran teachers who were extremely pleased with the standards and have studied them extensively) used in the Greensboro, NC area about 25 years ago or so. That is, until some ‘new fangled’ ones came along and the Greensboro Plan was sent to the archives. I’ll include the PDF file I was able to locate on the internet so you can get a taste of how serious the NCAFC is about quality education. From what I’ve understood, the GP will be the BASIS of what is developed as an offering for academic standards. Consider this undertaking a work in progress.

For a look at some of the Greensboro Plan (which is to be low cost, easily implemented, and highly successful), see: gp1

If you’d like to order the book the GP author wrote (which is still in publication, I believe, and will have the entire plan), http://www.criticalthinking.org/pages/the-greensboro-plan-infusing-reasoning-and-writing-into-the-k-12-curriculu/545 If you want to search your regular media outlet to see if they have it, here’s the ISBN number: ISBN: 0-944583-06-7
The book is well worth reading. It contains excellent quality educational ideas.

How Can I Help Out in NC?:

Excellent question! NCAFA is looking for volunteers from every county in the state. That’s 100 counties in all. Certainly, as many from each county are welcome..the more citizens we have, the better our team can be!

The counties will have a watchdog team captain. The captains (all 100) will lead their other county neighbors in what’s going on in the educational systems closest to them. Then, the state wide watchdog leader (that’s my new position) alerts the 100 to any news that’s breaking about CC in the state or nation. The 100 will then pass the word along. That way, quicker actions can be made across the state because everyone will be so well connected. It is NCAFA’s hope that other states will want to connect with this kind of effort. That way the states can begin to take back the sovereignty in education that Constiutionally-wise belongs to us. The group will also be taking a legislative approach to helping right the educational system in NC. So, if keeping an eye on the local school system isn’t your thing, you can help out legislature-wise.

While email will serve as the main communication, meetings across the state will afford us time to meet in person and put our heads together for a more effective results. Any other sort of communication mode will be used as well. Anything to get the word out as far and as wide as possible.

The next meeting is happening today (March 21st) in Charlotte. It’s free (donations are not required, but welcome) and open to all who are concerned about the damage CCSS in doing in the NC schools and wishes to be a part of the solution. We will meet at the Mecklenburg County Rec. Dept. of the Hickory Grove Elementary School, 6709 Pence Rd. We’ll get stared at 1:30 pm. If you can’t make that meeting, then there’s one set for April in Asheville, NC. The Facebook page will have the details, so be sure to locate the page.

What Can I Do to Help if I Don’t Live in NC?:

Another great question! There’s plenty. You are in this fight for our students because you care. So do we. Any news that impacts the nation, will impact each of our states. So, if you discover something that you believe the state of NC should know about, share with the the leaders of NCAFA! If your state currently has a similar type endeavor to offer a truly credible set of standards to your state boards, work with us; let us know you’re out there! What have you found successful? What roadblocks have you experienced? Are you relying on older, more solid education standards or are is there an effort to write new ones that are CCSS free? Would you state want to join forces, have meetings, and keep an open flow of communication? Social media is doing a great deal of this for us already. However, the NCAFA is wanting to step up the action in this worthy journey.  If you don’t have a similar group or project up and running but would like to start one, talk to the leadership of NCAFA! The group is dedicated to honoring the Constitution and the principles which made America great.

Worth Mentioning:
Researchers, educational experts all have shown and agree, a quality education doesn’t have to cost a fortune to implement; it doesn’t have to have an accompanying code book to be taught; it doesn’t have to high stakes assessments to prove our students are well rounded. We all are fighting for an education where our teachers aren’t punished, our principals not forced to dance to a P3’s tune, the school system can be run without federal control, and, our students can enjoy their time in the classroom.

An Audio File:

While I cannot find a video presentation of the March 7th debut of the NCAFA’s work in progress to replace CCSS, I can offer you the audio file link. The link can be found at: http://cctaxpayers.com/ccta-news/ (*Note: the audio is all the way at the bottom and is dated 2/2/15; this is a discussion that was to help promote the live unveiling of the NCAFA’s work called the “NC Plan”)

The NC Plan (as it is to be known by) was officially unveiled, in public, for the first time during the NC Coastal Tax Payers Association meeting on March 7th, 2015. I was honored to be present and introduced while there. (*Note, you may even remember my live tweets from the meeting) I must say, it is truly refreshing to see a set of standards that builds up students, respects teachers, and honors our nation.

I look forward to sharing more, to meeting new folks, and continuing to kill CCSS. Join me!
