“Here I Stand, I Can Do No Other”

No, Warriors, I haven’t confused two historic figures. Yes, the picture you see is Joan of Arc. The title you read is a hat tip to Martin Luther as he nailed his 95 Points on that church door so long ago. If you have been following me long on my blog, or on social media, you know I have long identified with Joan’s fierceness. As far as Martin’s boldness? Yes, I’m about to go there.

A Certain Recent Release:

The President has recently released his 2018 Federal Budget Blueprint. It’s creating quite a buzz. You also know that in past federal budget releases, I’ve also gone over them.
In-depth and not unwilling to expose the alignment to the CCSS Machine.

The reality that the current President has promised to rid us of Common Core and yet padded the Administration with pro CCSS members, certainly has given us pause.

Trump’s promise for more jobs should also give us pause. Why? With the distinct presence of WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), ESSA (Every Student Succeeds), HEA (Higher Education Act); the federal money in place right NOW funneling through each of these; the CCSS Machine up to its neck in all 3, we need to be pointing to the same priorities:

a) Workforce based education IS here, playing out daily. It plays out not only through Common Core, but Career Tech Education, STEM, Next Gen, and so many other areas.
b) It’s playing out in employment centers, community colleges, our public-private partnerships, job development programs, and so many other places.
c) It comes in the form of SEL (social, emotional learning), CBE (competency based education), PBLs (project based learning), and constant over assessments for skills to meet some business’s idea of what a human should be able to do.

For the President to rid us of ‘Common Core’, he needs to be ready to rid us of ALL the connections. Think how many times we’ve heard and said, ‘follow the money’.

Since D.C. is a favored conduit of the CCSS Machine, we know a lot of evidence is waiting to be exposed. Federal budgets have lots of money…and lots of evidence we can trace.

Every day we hesitate, the more ingrained the CCSS Machine becomes in the new Administration. Warriors, we saw the CCSS Machine take up residence in D.C. during the previous Administration. The Machine is STILL there.

Warriors, do not simply look at the Blueprint’s ‘Dept. of Education’ budget items. Read the WHOLE thing.

I wish I could tell you that the CCSS presence has been eliminated with Mr. Trump’s Blueprint. It hasn’t.

Flummox Awaits Us:

(*Note: ‘flummox’ is an old word for being bewildered or perplexed.)

Flummox #1): So, in Trump’s Blueprint, did ‘Common Core’ get the axe? Not by name. There were some things involving CCSS, but not too many. Warriors, eliminating CCSS in one area (no matter how huge), means it survives elsewhere.

Flummox #2): Did the Dept. of Ed receive cuts? Yes, but are those cuts enough? That, my Warriors, remains to be seen.

Flummox #3): While the President’s Blueprint is not the entire Federal Budget, the word ‘blueprint’ suggests that what the President wants may be changed by Congress.

When will “We the People” get to see the entire 2018 federal budget? What other CCSS Machine ties will be revealed when We see it? Will We have time to influence Congress or will it be too late?

degrees

A First Glance At The Blueprint:

Mr. Trump has identified (in the opening pages of the Blueprint) that the following federally funded activities/groups/services will be eliminated if his Budget requests are approved.

I’ve researched each of of these and have proven their CCSS ties. I’ve provided the previous published articles so you can go back and read just how deep those CCSS ties go. We’ll need to know which groups will be spinning the pro-CCSS rhetoric in the coming days.)

National Endowment of the Humanities

National Endowment of the Arts

PBS (proof)
*Note: be sure to scroll down to see PBS’s embedding in ESSA.

Institute of Library and Museum Services
*Note: there are at least 2 other related articles mentioned in this one. Find them here and here.
We should also note the question posed in the ‘Services’ article. If local areas cannot match federal funds, services like your libraries will close.

Woodrow Wilson International Center of Scholars (my article delved into the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Program. Both are under the same logo.) In the Blueprint, it is unclear how and if the International funding cut will impact the entire Woodrow Wilson organization.

21st Century Community Learning Centers
*Note: of the many articles surrounding 21stCCLCs, this is probably the most relevant considering the Blueprint.

Be sure to see the other connections you’ll also see in the Blueprint. Also remember, Warriors, 21st CCLCs are codified in ESSA. Will Trump’s elimination of CCSS, repeal ESSA?!

Blueprint Agency Items “I Can Do No Other With”:

Martin Luther’s passion for truth and his boldness for making the evidence public drove him to state the declaration you see above. I like that boldness. While he found 95 pieces of evidence for action,  I’ve been able to identify 85 Concerns in the President’s Blueprint.  Here is the link to my special Guide detailing them.

To use the Guide, simply open the link. All red highlighted words will have several of my previously published articles which directly relate to each of the Agencies in the Blueprint.

Use the research to help you formulate your dissent to seeing MORE Common Core (and all its related entities) continued in the 2018 Budget!

Use any of the research to help you create a way to help remind the President of his campaign promise to rid us of Common Core. To rid us of the name only, solves nothing.

Lastly, share the Guide, as you see fit. Knowledge about the CCSS Machine is what keeps us powerful. We should be making as much of a protest about the Blueprint as we did about the new Secretary of Education’s confirmation.

No, we should be making MORE noise. We should demand a full repeal of any and all federal activity overreaching into education.

Warriors, it will take MORE than alerting the Oval Office with our priorities. We need to be ‘nailing these points to Congress’s doors. We need to be shouting these pieces of evidence boldly.

Warriors, we must do all of this. To do less, is something we should not permit. To take a ‘wait and see’ attitude could be dangerous to our fellow citizens.
Why? The federal budget impacts every age group, not a select few. With so much of the CCSS Machine still in our education, we must be a modern day Martin Luther of Joan of Arc.

Monday Musings: More than Meets the Eye

armchair
You won’t believe what I saw this weekend!

If you are fighting the data collection that accompanies the CCSS Machine’s overreach into our educational systems, its leaders, its students, then you will want to be sure to reach today’s “Monday Musings”.

As you may know (or maybe you didn’t know), I am a huge college football fan. As such, I try to take a little time off each Saturday afternoon to watch the games. On Saturday, Dec. 5th, I was doing just that when I noticed this one commercial from Microsoft appear. It didn’t appear just one or two times, it appeared several times (sorry, I didn’t get an exact count). At first, I basically ignored the commercial (after all, it is over 1 minute long). However, I began to notice the rhetoric in the advertisement was causing the anti CCSS Warrior in me to say, “Wait, what did that ad just reveal?”. I am including the ad below from You Tube, so you can watch it before we dive into the rest of this article.

Go back and listen for how many athletes are tracked data wise, listen again for what information about those athletes is tracked. If you didn’t catch it, these special needs kids’ health (which includes every aspect of their health) is not only being data mined/tracked, it is being used as part of their progress! Did you catch how the Microsoft Cloud can even look at their past performances?!

While Microsoft is supplying the data mining tool, did you notice it was the Special Olympics CEO who was speaking about the data tracking? Did you notice the ‘global’ vent in which she was speaking? If you would like to see the global agenda behind SO (Special Olympics), see:
http://www.specialolympics.org/uploadedFiles/Fact%20Sheet_SOI%20General%20Overview.pdf

SO and CCSS in the Schools:

Don’t get me wrong, I am not out to vilify SO. Rather, my point is to show you the ties back to CCSS, SO is participating in. For example, the SO school program “Get Into It” is funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education!
See (https://getintoit.specialolympics.org/) While you cannot access the lessons unless you are a registered member, the fine print tells you the school program fits state standards. Another school specific program SO has is called “Project Unify”, check out the pro CCSS groups tapped as the partners, “Partnerships with education organizations such as the NEA Foundation, The State Education Agency K-12 Service-Learning Network (SEANet), the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), National School Boards Association (NSBA), The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the National Dropout Prevention Center (NDPC),the IDEA Partnership and many others.” (Source: http://www.specialolympics.org/uploadedFiles/Sections/What_We_Do/Project_Unify/Project%20UNIFY%20Toolkit.pdf)

Project Unify’s 2010 Case Study is another document you can easily find pro CCSS ties in. Be sure to see all 200 plus pages of this Study. You will learn much more about the SO’s support of the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Act) See the screen shot below:
SO21
Source: http://www.specialolympics.org/uploadedFiles/Sections/What_We_Do/Project_Unify/Project%20UNIFY%20Toolkit.pdf

SO and CCSS Outside the Classroom:

Among SO‘s sponsors is the AFT (American Federation of Teachers) who have shown their CCSS love all to well. Notice, also that a national organization representing school counselors is also a sponsor. What’s so CCSS friendly about school counselors? In case you missed my very special article detailing a White House led program to align all school counselors to CCSS, here it is:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/10/fridays-post-breaking-news-you-need-to-know/

As far as those pro CCSS organizations who partner with SO, you will find Bank of America, Unicef, Microsoft and others. To find them all, http://www.specialolympics.org/faqs.aspx (*Note, the Partners will be all the way down at the bottom of the page and you will need to click on the right hand arrow to see all of the partners.)

CCSS and Sports:

Sometime last year I wrote this CCSS Physical Education article. In I reveal for you just how much of our school’s PE programs are crossing over to the CCSS way of education. See: http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1080

Gates Foundation and the Kennedy Foundation:

As you may, or may not know, Eunice Kennedy Shriver was a key person in the history of SO. However, since her passing did you know the Foundation which bears her name has received Gates Foundation grants for the purpose of human scientific research? What does this have to do with the Microsoft Cloud commercial?
Let’s see if there is a connection.
First, consider that the Gates Foundation’s 2009 grant to the Shriver Foundation was for biomarkers to assess micronutrient exposure, status, and function/effect’ (see: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database/Grants/2009/09/OPP1003253)
While this may (or may not) in fact have been some of the ground work needed to help the Microsoft Cloud collect the type of human data featured in the commercial, I cannot prove beyond the shadow of a doubt.

However,  it is very important to note here that Mrs. Shriver’s Foundation is a part of the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and that the NIH is part of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, the 3rd federal department helping the nation’s alignment to CCSS/CTE (Common Core State Standards and Career Tech Education). The others? The U.S. Dept. of Education and the U.S. Dept. of Labor!  What is very interesting is when I did a general term search on the NIH for “Common Core Standards”, I was led to a document where NIH‘s data mining, sharing, and “biobanking” are laid out. Access the document, pmi-working-group-report-20150917-2
What is ‘biobanking’? It refers to banks where human tissue samples, their DNA, and other such personal items are stored. While I was able to find a University of Helsinki/Microsoft Cloud agreement where it was stated that non public bio banking and genome data was not to be shared, it did NOT appear to prohibit public bio banks! See the screen shot below:
helsinkimicro
See the entire agreement: http://www.helsinki.fi/atk/tike/liitetiedostot/Office365_EULA_en.pdf

Closing:

Anti CCSS Warriors, please note that all the above information is given to help point out some of the sheer audaciousness the pro CCSS education reform agenda is becoming. It isn’t the first time we will see a wolf in sheep’s clothing ad, nor, will it be the last. However, if we don’t stop, take notice, and then, share information connected, we will be no more helpful than a screen door on a submarine! We must be diligent, even in our ‘down time’. Please, if you have more information about data mining, biobanking, how invasive the Cloud (no matter if it is Microsoft’s, Apple’s or some other company) is with regard to human information, or other connections which we can use to help shine the light; share what you know! We, as anti CCSS Warriors need every bit of teamwork we can muster.

FTF: New CCSS “Unpacking” Guide

This is from 21012. Just published (2015), is a new 'unpacking guide' from another company.
This is from 21012. Just published (2015), is a new ‘unpacking guide’ from another company.

It seems fitting for my “From the Files” post, that we look at CCSS and it’s unpacking. After all, if we’re going to continue to see students fail, teachers frustrated to the point of resigning, and other staff members saught after for MORE CCSS alignment, we need to know the latest. The graphic you see above is from 2012, supposedly as the CCSS was just being rolled out.  Just by the sheer fact the Standards needing an ‘unpacking’ guide should tell you that even then, the Standards were convoluted, but I digress. I will add that according to most veteran teachers I have talked to during this War Against the Core, educational standards are to be SO clear and concise, a teacher automatically knows how to approach them on their own. However, as we’ve seen with the CCSS Initiative’s agenda, nothing (or no one) connected to education can accomplish much ‘on their own’, it has to be all one way…sadly, that’s the ‘Common Core Way’.

A Bit of History:

From 2012, (where you’ll find the graphic above) and the State of NY, watch this short video and note how ‘talked down to’ the teachers are. Before you scream at me over that statement, consider that teachers have graduated colleges and universities, obtained many degrees, thus, they shouldn’t need to be told how to draw a circle, find the nouns or verbs, BUT that’s just what this presenter is doing!

Did you notice the makeover of “Bloom’s Taxonomy” to fit the CCSS?! While “Bloom’s” is considered a great model for education, it is OUTCOME based education. As such, it makes sense CCSS folks in NY would use this. We anti CCSS Warriors know and have proven CCSS is all about ‘student outcomes’, ‘leveraging’, and on and on.

Not to pick on NY, I wanted to see what the CCSS official website had for ‘unpacking’. So, I found this You Tube video from THE CCSS official site. It’s from 2013. In the 2012 video, you saw the main point as how to ‘unpack’ or utilize the CCSS. This one instructs you on how to read and utilize CCSS!

Did you notice that not even 1 minute into this short video, you heard CCR (college and career readiness)?! Did you spot that the example was a K-5 page?! Did you hear that math isn’t supposed to be taught in an exact order, but rather clustered together? If you’re a parent who has wondered WHY your students struggle with math, this is key information! “No sequential order”, that is a disaster happening before our very eyes every single day throughout our nation when it comes to math. For math to make any sense, there MUST be a sequence. Is it any wonder we have students AND teachers giving up, burning out, and quitting?!

Fast Forward to 2015:

Just published by the Learning Sciences International (part of the Robert Marzano group) has a NEW CCSS ‘Unpacking’ guide. It’s by Toby J. Karten (a staff member of LSI) and is all about ‘inclusion’ for students and teachers using CCSS. Now, if you don’t know who Robert Marzano is or what Learning Sciences International does, I urge you to read my previously published articles, which I will include at the conclusion of this article. In short, LSI and Marzano are using CCSS for globalist mindsets and bending social and emotional learning (another huge part of CCSS indoctrination).

All that said, you’re probably wondering about the guide, after all this article is about ‘unpacking CCSS‘.
You can find the book on LSI’s website for sale in their ‘bookstore’ tab. Website: http://www.learningsciences.com/ When you visit the website (if you’ve not done so before) notice the names of the programs designed for students and educational staff. Just awful, in my researched opinion.
In order to promote Karten’s new book, LSI hosted a webinar (10/28/15). I’ve included in here for you. It’s just about 1 hour. Some of the key points are listed below for you. Please, don’t take my word for it, watch it, share the information with parents and others fighting this CCSS scourge.

Key points:
a) using CCSS for inclusive classrooms
b) affirming what you already know about CCSS
c) different strategies for using CCSS even better
d) at about 3:09, Karten points you to the crayon drawing beside her picture. It’s here she states the ultimate goal of CCSS is CCR (college and career readiness) {*personal note: please listen to how she describes the picture}
e) what will ‘trip the CCSS up?’ No support!!
f) special needs students, anyone who is ‘outside’ the ‘normal’ is used as an example in this presentation. You’ll see IDEA talked about, IEPs for IDEA students, etc. *7:08 in the video)
In case you’re not watching the video, here’s her slide for IEPs and CCSS:
iepskarten
g) CCSS is successful for ALL learners, differences or likenesses, aside.
h) collaboration is a non negotiable part of CCSS. This extends to not only teachers and other educational staff but the students families as well!
i) 19:10 different strategies for more CCSS modeling and monitoring of the students (which is to be an on-going process) are revealed (they are repeated at 26:30 as well in not only their ‘alphabet soup’ forms, but what each stands for)

Anti CCSS Warriors, please, read, review, and share all this information. From the pro side of CCSS, you heard it: with out support, CCSS will not succeed! That’s our intent..to NOT support it. However, many others must know this, too!

While this cartoon was depicted a U.S. Congress run by monopolists, it can easily resemble the ‘CCSS Machine’ running education.

As October winds down, anti CCSS Warriors, the hype supporting CCSS appears to be ramping up. Today’s post will show you how. Use the information to keep the pressure to STOP ‘Common Core’ (and all its aliases)!

First up, Special Needs:

Those running the CCSS/CTE Machine have made it no secret that ALL students, regardless of their educational choice OR abilities are to be run through the streamlined fare ‘Common Core Standards’ and all its accompanying resources. This, sadly, impacts our special needs kids. IF your family receives any IDEA funding, you are being subjected to CCSS in some way. When the schools receive their IDEA funding (and this includes post-secondary schools or all kinds), your students are most definitely being slammed with Common Core, Career and College Readiness, STEM, and, Career Ed Tech.  To find out MORE, please refer back to https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/19/monday-musings-idea-when-good-goes-ccscte-bad/
If you would like the ECS (Education Commission of the States) document from 2014 where plans to collect more ‘measurements’ of special needs students progress as well as their parents, see: SPtracking To see another way the special needs students were tracked, is a report from 2004. See: SpecNeedsDataCollect If you’d like to learn just how toxic the re-authorization of the ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) via HR5 (Student Success Act), please read Anita Hoge‘s article where she speaks in plain English how special needs students (as well as all the other types will be marginalized horribly).

Here Come the STEM, CCSS latest moves:

Most folks balk at me when I even dare to mention how STEM is tied to CCSS, yet, the evidence is there. In case you didn’t see the news about the STEM Act passed into law at the federal level, here’s the article where I shared all the news about it. The Act is named “The STEM Education Act of 2015”. Why would a new Act concerning education be a problem? First, it’s at a FEDERAL level! As in ‘federally led education’. On Twitter anti CCSS Warriors refer to it as ‘fed led ed’. Secondly, the federal level law dictates a certain type of course now be included in STEM. Seriously?! Yes!! So where was the parental input? Where was the local level of education? It was excluded…just like we’ve seen from D.C. more and more in our recent past. This Act involves several other federal agencies in education, alignment, and data mining! This Act is so overreaching into education, it will not stop at the school yard’s boundary. No, this one takes education into almost every informal learning environment we could possibly use. For example, your libraries, museums, field trips, and so on. Again, HR5 (see above) has stealthily embedded the CCSS tied-STEM into the language as part of the  ‘afterschool programs’ and ‘wraparound services’.
Read all about it: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/21/wybi-tying-stem-to-ccss-again/
If you’d like to see the archive where I was able to find the STEM tie to HR5, refer to:

Rumor Has It:

I’m including my release of this past “Weekend’s News” because you have to get the vital information somehow! What do I mean? I’m referring to the ‘block’ I received from social media when I was sharing the truth about what’s up in America and CCSS. Once again, (this isn’t my first time being blocked), and, as other anti CCSS Warriors have experienced, the CCSS Machine tried to stop me. But, the funny thing about truth is..it ALWAYS wins! Thankfully, several of my fellow Warriors, picked up the story and passed it on for me. However, there are many others who didn’t get the what’s up. So, I’ll state briefly WHY the “Weekend News” was so controversial it got blocked.
1) It named certain people as being involved in the corruption of education in America
2) I openly displayed the social media site in some of my screen shots
3) Point by point CCSS/CTE/STEM tied programs were specifically named and tied back to a well known university
4) Of those named, two are legislators in NC and another is running for the US Presidency
5) I exposed the fallacy which was shared over social media that NC had removed CCSS recently, when in fact, the original source was from 2014 AND didn’t tell the entire story!
Get it while you can: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/25/weekend-news-ccss-rumors-abound-at-least-in-nc/

I urge you, read the article. It IS so vital to our War Against the Core! You need to see just how far the CCSS/CTE Machine is going to place specific people in very educational influential positions. Yes, we’ve seen this before, BUT the operators of the CCSS Machine are becoming less and less stealthy about it! We MUST act! We MUST continue to expose the injustice that is happening every day in America via education reform! We know the bottom line isn’t an academic education, it’s about a ‘talent pipeline’ to feed a ‘workforce agenda’.

From ‘Your’ U.S. Dept. of Ed:

As you read this, the US DofEd is hosting a “Parent Camp”. I kid you not. If you use Twitter, be sure to look up ‘#ParentCamp’. You won’t believe the ‘shuck and jive’ dribble about education leading parents. Better yet, why not scoot over to the US DofEd’s Family Engagement page. There you can find all kinds of things the Dept has put together to show you HOW to parent THEIR way! Think I’m joking?! Read this excerpt, “If effective cradle-to-career educational partnerships between home and school are to be implemented with fidelity and sustained, engagement initiatives must include a concerted focus on developing adult capacity, whether through pre- and in-service professional development for educators; academies, workshops, seminars, and workplace trainings for families;” Want to read the rest? Be sure not to miss that one of the 4Cs in this parental persuasion is ‘human capital’!

From The US Chamber of Commerce’s Education and Workforce Committee:

Their latest efforts? Using local Workforce Boards to highlight the skills gap needs to be closed. As I’ve shared in the past (as have other anti CCSS Warriors, there is NOT a skills gap! The CCSS Machine has presented the fallacy that such a gap exists, but it does not)

The skills gap 'fear factor' fallacy is successful because those spreading it, use the wrong numbers s their source.

So, my fellow Warriors Against CCSS, we have MUCH to do and not much time in which to accomplish it!

WYBI: CCSS’s Ego Issues

We know the U.S. Dept. of Ed loves the CCSS, but find out how bloated their ego really is these days.
We know the U.S. Dept. of Ed loves the CCSS, but find out how bloated their ego really is these days.

What if I told you the U.S. Dept. of Ed had just completed studies to support MORE federal education overreach? Would you believe it?! Let’s find out how CCSS and the Next Generation stack up in this bloated ego atmosphere.

The Group Responsible:

I am not sure if you know this or not, but tucked into the U.S. Dept. of Ed. is an Institute for Evaluation pertaining to American education (just recently an international evaluation was published as well, but that’s another story). The official name of the Institute is the “Institute of Education Sciences”. Their website for today’s post: http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/projects/evaluation/index.asp

The Tweet That Sent Me Off the Cliff:

Being an avid researcher, I get all kinds of Twitter news. One of Monday morning’s was a doozy. See for yourselves:

As seen on my CCDiva Twitter account 3/2/15.
As seen on my CCDiva Twitter account 3/2/15.

The Studies:

After seeing this bloated ego of a tweet, I HAD to find out what exactly I could discover about the continued overreach of the federal gov’t in education. So, using the above website address, I discovered the following:
NCEE (National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance) has come up with a “Next Generation of Rigorous Evaluations” The purpose? So schools and school leaders can raise student achievement levels. You’ll need to access the website for today’s post (above) to read for yourselves the other things that are stated. However, here’s one excerpt that will send you over the edge of that cliff, “In particular, the NCEE focuses on conducting rigorous impact studies of promising educational programs and practices that are supported through federal funds.”  Guiding the studies? Three questions. Yes, that’s right 3 questions. Those questions are:“What is the impact of the federal program on the intended outcomes?”; “Is the program model effective?”; and “Is a specific intervention (or class of interventions) effective?” By reading the rest of what the IES has been bragging about, you’ll find over 30 studies have been completed.

Directly related to CCSS and have been studied (or are in the process of) are:
1) Pathways to College and or Career, especially through the federally funded GEAR UP (see my previously published article from 11/14 about GEAR UP: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/tag/gear-up/) Conducting this study? Oh, another bloated CCSS ego group, AIR (as in American Institutes for Research) The amount of federal funds to support this study (which doesn’t expire until 2018) is over $6 million! (for all the details, http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/projects/evaluation/pathways_gearup.asp)

2) Striving Readers Program, especially as awarded to states for raising literacy through curriculum. I found a NV based You Tube tutorial demonstrating the ties of CC to SR. Watch it below:

If you’d like to see the 2010 Webinar for the Striving Readers and how funding was not only awarded, but CC thrown in the mix: webinar8262010  To see more about the NCEE’s study for SR, go to: http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/projects/evaluation/assistance_readers.asp Be sure to take note of the amount of federal funding and how it’s split up.

3) Evaluation the “Nation’s Report Card” or NAEP. See: http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/projects/evaluation/other_naep.asp This study’s all about the data collection and how achievement levels are treated. Study will expire in 2016.

4) Title I and II especially under the ESEA. See: http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/projects/evaluation/other_titleI.asp

Over $13 million dedicated to studying what standards states are using, what assessments, and how even more data can be used, collected. All approved and funded by Congress. This study ends in 2018. Three different contractors got this study. I dare you to google them to see how ties to CCSS they are! For example, EdCount, LLC was the organization which created the accountability guides the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) used in each of the 50 states between 2003-2007. Partners include Pearson Publishing, AIR, and many others. (to see EdCount, LLC’s website for their partners/clients, visit: http://edcount.com/index.php/about/clients-and-partners Be sure to look at their ‘Services’ pages. You’ll be amazed at how much they do.

5) Implementing Assessments for Special Needs Students. See: http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/projects/evaluation/disabilities_ideaimp.asp This study ended in 2011, cost the taxpayers of America, just over $2 million. Results? More outcome based education and ‘high standards’. I’ve included the final study report. You’ll especially need pages 72 and following where it is discussed that mandated standards are more common that IEPs. Get it: IDEAreport

For the Others:

There are other studies you’ll want to look at for yourselves. Try the Literacy Studies, the Math Studies, and the Teacher Studies. You won’t believe what you see! For example, in the Literacy Studies, under the “Evaluation for Reading Comprehension”. This Study was over $17 million to discover during its first year the reading curricula, “Reading for Knowledge”, showed NO positive growth. The Study’s quick to add that things did improve after the first year. When I searched for the said curricula I got the pro CCSS group “Amplify”. Gee whiz, another bloated ego. To access this Study and the others, use the same website address as in the beginning of this article and select your choice from the left hand menu.

Want to See More of the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s  Bloated Ego?

Then you’ll need to access their “What Works Clearinghouse”. The website: http://ies.ed.gov/ncee/wwc/

Begin with the “Practice Guides”, then “Interventions” (especially the one titled “Fast Track”, for emotionally disturbed little ones), if you want to see reviews of the absolute latest in research, go for the “Quick Reviews”, you’ll find studies for charter schools and college/career readiness and other ‘blasts of ego’. To get to all these, just use the left hand menu.

Closing:
When I searched for an appropriate image to start this article off with, I found the teacher at the chalk board to be excellent. However, the caption it should have attached is the original one which reads, “An inflated ego is like a balloon. Over fill it and it will explode.” Can’t say I’d mind seeing CCSS explode altogether.

On your mark, get set, explode!!
On your mark, get set, explode!!

Monday Musings: Today’s The Day, Folks!

Do you want to keep Common Core? Allowing the re-authorization of Sen. Alexander's NCLB/ESEA will do just that AND more!
Do you want to keep Common Core? Allowing the re-authorization of Sen. Alexander’s NCLB/ESEA will do just that AND more!

By staying silent about this, we are allowing not only Common Core to proceed, but SO much more! A Couple of Weeks Ago, I wrote about the huge push for the re-authorization of the ESEA/NCLB bill sponsored by Sen. Alexander. (see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/01/18/rmt-will-you-help/)

In the essence of time, I’m only offering 12  succinct points of WHY this bill is toxic to our educational choices for ALL ages! To see the entire list of reasons why, be sure to access the above original article OR search out others who’ve written about this.
1) LEA grants will be a whopping $15 billion per year until 2021. Add to that $400 million for assessments. Federal money will be relegated for the states to have ‘technical assistance’ in 2 areas (closing the skills gap and guaranteeing no remediation).

2) Perkins Funding, IDEA legislation, the Nation’s Report Card will all be used to further have states be held accountable TO the federal government, NOT the federal government leaving states rights alone!

3) Family financial information, family lifestyle information…all private information will be open accessed under this re-authorization!

4) Massive teacher reform, assessment reform, and the Adult CCSS (Career Tech Education) are all written into this bill!

5) Further alliance to the CCSS via AP courses, IB schools! (see my article for HOW this is capable, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/11/14/fib-o-meter-friday-ib-international-baccalaureate-schools-common-core/)

6) Any professional development for educators can be lead by ANYONE the Secretary of Education deems worthy!

7) Any public-private partnership deemed capable of being involved in a child’s education gets the green light!

8) Outcome based education will continue to live on!

9) Those 21st Century Community Learning Centers will be given an increase in power!

10) The power the Secretary of Education increases in other ways!

11) Another state vs. state competition for federal money via education will occur!
States will increase their power over how the littlest children will be taught at home!

12) How are U.S. tax dollars are used in all of this is not our choice!

Have you not read enough?! Will you stay silent? I won’t!! CALL today!
