Agenda Junkies

Warriors Against the Core! Warriors Opposed to Federally Led Education!!

Are you tired of all the agenda, reform, and propaganda which comes with  CCSS, or, as it is more politically correct, ‘College and Career Readiness’?!

It all reminds me of a bunch of  junkies. Especially when you factor in the amount of money spent to ‘snow’ our nation into believing Common Core and its Machine are the best thing for America since ‘dirt was invented’.

No, Warriors, quite the opposite is true: Common Core and ALL that goes with it have driven our nation straight to ‘pot’!

I call those involved ‘agenda driven junkies’. Question is who among our leaders from D.C. to downtown are strung out on the lies? The agenda junkies don’t only help string education along, they are taking their toxicity into your neighborhoods.

The U.S. Dept. of Education (with some pretty ‘addictive’ help) has published a Plan to turn our communities into ‘USERS’.

The simplest way to state it: Public private partnerships (P3s) were purposefully expanded in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). If you factor in the other federal laws where the P3s are also embedded (WIOA, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and the HEA, Higher Education Act), you’ll start to see the ‘need for a fix’: businesses need workers to build the economy. What ‘cheaper’ way in which to train workers than by selling a ‘crack’ education like is was the best drug in town?!

Our students are the businesses’ ‘fix’.

U.S. Dept. Of Education’s Community User Plan:

I literally stumbled across this Aug. 2016 document just a few days ago. Of course, the agenda junkies at US Ed, came up with a ‘cool’ sounding name for the Plan, but the main point: how the P3s and/or CBAs will use our communities for workforce based education.

So, what’s the name of the Plan?

edcterti

The Highs And Lows Of The Plan:
1) The relationships between education and local businesses (P3s) is still pretty new. So, in order to make the most of this, the Plan lays out how to use this ‘urban and development tool’ as the source for filling the need of educated workforce. (Oh, by the way, did you know ESSA involves the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development?!)

2)  CBAs (Community Benefit Agreements), according to the Plan are slightly different than P3s in the overreach in education. Both carry a steep price: our schools.

3) By combining CTE and CBAs, your town can be assured of a steady ‘supply’ of educated workers strung out on agenda, not academics; on feeding your local economy not feeding their minds. Here’s how the Plan worded it, “This paper will help state and local policymakers understand the potential use of CBAs to support the delivery of high-quality CTE services in schools and colleges serving their surrounding communities. CBAs can serve as a potent tool for delivering comprehensive CTE programs that benefit a broad population of resident youths and adults. This desired outcome can be accomplished only if those charged with negotiating CBAs understand the benefits of well-designed CTE programs—and the importance of engaging CTE educators from the secondary and postsecondary levels in planning discussions.”

4) The ‘common agenda’ of the Plan? A unified, stronger community.

5) The Plan cites 2 Case Studies where CBAs and early CTE efforts were combined.Of these it appears these date back to 2004 and extend to the current year.
One involves Home Depot, Inc. (*Note: Home Depot, Inc. was tied to the new Chair of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Ed/Workforce Committee, Rep. Virginia Foxx in my “Fox in a Hen House” article, published yesterday.)

6) A source cited in the Plan refers to a 2013 construction career book, The Construction Careers Handbook, published by the Partnership for Working Families (2013), and how those who want to push CTE can create labor/education conversations. The goal? To make CTE even more rigorous!

7) See the screen shot below for  the 6 goals a CBA full of agenda is being pushed on our nation:

The RTI International, Inc. is the newer name for the Research Triangle Institute based right in Research Triangle (Raleigh-Durham, NC). On their website, the Career and Technical Education can be found on the “Education and Workforce Development” page.
The group shares that they are busy behind the scene of ‘education’ and ‘global’ workforce. They collect massive amounts of data. Here’s an excerpt, “Clients in the education space rely on us to track elements such as early childhood health, school readiness, academic performance, noncognitive skills development, high school graduation and the transition to college, financial aid and college completion, and workforce education.”

Closing:

Warriors, whom among our leaders are the ‘agenda junkies’? Ask your Congress members have they read these NCiCTE documents? Especially in light of the upcoming CTE Bills in the House’s Ed/Workforce Committee and the Senate’s HELP Committee!
There are many, however, knowing our government is creating communities aligned to CTE, what about a national CTE Workforce Plan? It’s already in the works. The LADDER Act.

Monday Musings: “The Boys are Back in Town”

It's not exactly a secret that the U.S. Congress is back in session, BUT, will they stand up and fight for education?!
It’s not exactly a secret that the U.S. Congress is back in session, BUT, will they stand up and fight for education?!

It’s a busy day for all of us in this War Against the Core (Common Core, that is). We anti CCSS Warriors have been quite busy over the summer while the ‘debates’ ran on concerning the S1177 (Every Child Achieves Act) and while we listened as the House didn’t vote one ‘no’ against the HR5 (Student Success Act). Did we let up while Congress was away from Washington? If so, it’s time for us to crank up our volume again. We HAVE to..our entire nation is at risk!

While Congress was away, many of the anti CCSS Warriors who are helping lead this War, presented us with fact based evidence as to where in the ECAA, SSA the toxicity for America lies. If you’ve not seen those, I urge you to! Language has been written that would cause EVERY child to be an ‘at-risk’ student, therefore, causing ALL students to be on some sort of medical disability list and turning your schools into quasi-pysch wards! I’m including Anita Hoge’s research which includes page numbers of each bill so you can see for yourselves HOW each child is to be considered ‘medically needy’.

ALL students will be identified as “at-risk” allowing government access to ALL children under Common Core, Title I, and IDEA to receive mental health services, treatment, and interventions. [P.38 produce individual student interpretive descriptive, diagnostic reports consistent with (II) children with disabilities; pp. 17, 36, 41, 83, 87, 90, 93, 94, 113, 118, 122, 125, 131, 254, 365]

Psychological and psychiatric techniques will be employed to change the student’s psyche and personality to government qualities and these interventions are included in both bills: “Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, Response to Intervention (RTI), Multitiered System of Supports, Functional Behavioral Assessment, Specialized Instructional Support Services,” with all techniques researched, validated and proven to change the values, attitudes, beliefs, and dispositions of your children toward Common Core attitudes, values, beliefs, and dispositions. (pp. 24, 120, 244 measure non-cognitive measures; pp. 58, 94, 119, 125, 243-244, 253, 367-368)”

To see the rest of HOW your student will be controlled and manipulated, see: http://www.newswithviews.com/Hoge/anita117.htm

My question to you, as a parent: Are you going to allow Rep. Kline’s HR5 and Sen. Lamar Alexander’s S1177 to pass so YOUR child can be turned into a CCSS drone?

With the proven facts that Sen. Alexander is ALSO behind the upcoming re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act), don’t expect the psycho-manipulation to end at 12th grade. No, it’s also written in the HEA, as well!

As recent as April 2015, the American Psychological Association (APA) is working hand in hand with the HELP (the U.S. Senate’s Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) to include much psychologically influenced parameters. Back in 2003, the Association published an article about it was their opportunity to help strengthen the HEA. Here’s an excerpt from that article, “For APA’s membership, HEA reauthorization is an opportunity to shine. We have a chance to make college more accessible, graduate study more affordable, careers in the public interest more pursuable and teaching more grounded in science. HEA is a good law–but one that can be made better if influenced and directed by psychology.” (*Note: to see the entire article,
http://www.apa.org/monitor/may03/ppup.aspx)

From this article, you are encouraged to see more of their advocacy in the HEA by going to a more specific website page. On that page are no less that 3 papers with Sen. Alexander’s name as the only one visible.  Why is this a big deal? Sen. Lamar Alexander is the chairman of the HELP committee!!

If you visit, http://www.apa.org/about/gr/education/news/2015/higher-education-act.aspx, you’ll see the 2015 efforts of how APA and HELP are working together. The first of HELP’s  ‘white papers’ deals with post-secondary accreditation. It is this paper you’ll find the CCSS/CTE  angle for which this psycho-manipulation is to occur at the beyond high school graduation? From what I can read, it’s the ‘accrediting process’. Read on, warriors!

” It wasn’t until the 1992 Higher Education Act Amendments that Congress defined in law the standards accreditors needed when assessing quality at institutions of higher education. Today, current law outlines 10 minimum standards: student achievement; curriculum; faculty; facilities; fiscal and administrative capacity; student support services; recruiting and admissions practices; measure of program length; student complaints; and compliance with Title IV program responsibility.” Then Alexander states this, “Accreditation serves dual roles as both a “gatekeeper” to federal funds and as a process for institutional improvement..”

The next section deals with student learning, academic rigor, issues geared toward OBE (outcome based education), and, their workforce readiness skills! There are other CCSS/CTE/CCR (Common Core State Standards, Career Technical Education, and College Career Readiness) rats woven into this white paper as well. If you read the entire document, you’ll find where it’s suggested that there becomes more national influence as opposed to regional; that all kinds of pro-CCSS/CTE ‘research’ is cited as credible evidence for reforming higher education. The list of other ‘rats’ goes on. However, it’s not until you get to the proposals, that you should really be able to see the big rat! ” options for consideration in the upcoming reauthorization of the Higher Education Act to redefine accreditation’s role, modernize our quality assurance system for 21st century learning, and provide accountability and reassurance to governments and the greater public.”

First will be the ‘refocus’ aspect (which has 4 goals..all supported by pro-CCSS/CTE ‘research’), then comes the ‘redesign’ aspect of higher education (this section has the biggest rats. Redefining Title 4 funding, doing away with regional entities, creating new education pathways which allow MORE P3 (public, private partnerships) to weigh in on what education should be. (again, look at the pro-CCSS/CTE groups used in the footnotes..these are the groups HELP is listening to!)

To see this paper: Accreditation

Oh, the other 2 HELP ‘white papers’ featured on the American Psychologists Association website? You’ll need to dive into those as well. The second one deals with ‘cohort graduations’, the “GED”, ‘skin-in-the-game’ reforms (one such is that colleges/universities become responsible for a students outcome..not the student), and more. Again, note the pro-CCSS/CTE/CCR backers cited in this paper. See: Risk_Sharing

The last one, will certainly tie back to more proven fact based research concerning the abuse of the FERPA law. It has to do with data mining (supposedly it’s transparent). If you look at the current HEA (2008), you’ll find in Section 113 (which is using Title 1 funding), you’ll see the parameters for databases in higher education. If you stop there, you’ll assume all is well; that your post-secondary student’s data is safe. However, look at Section 802 (under “additional programs”). The National Center for Research in Advanced Information and Digital Technologies is named. If you’re not familiar with the NCRAIDT, it is also known as “Digital Promise”. DP is ‘non profit’. Think they are free from the pro-CCSS/CTE group? Not a chance! See their current corporate partners: http://www.digitalpromise.org/initiatives/corporate-partnerships#current-partners

Digital Promise is used in K-Adult education. You can find your own evidence by looking at the “initiatives” section of their website.

To see the last of the 3 HELP papers: Consumer_Information

One of the last points I’d like to make about the HEA’s ties to the CCSS/CTE/CCR agenda is this. There are many other sections of the 2008 HEA which are foundations for MORE alignment to this illegally based and now, Congressionally ‘high-fived’ legislation we’re seeing in the current session! This is WHY it’s so important to call and STOP HR5, S1177. It was stated by Sen. Alexander is his gloating speech that what was being started in S1177 would be finished in the HEA’s re-authorization. Warriors, he was revealing the next area of educational overhaul! We CANNOT allow any student, no matter their age to be aligned anymore to the CCSS/CTE/CCR debacle.

Call Washington, D.C. now that Congress is back in session. Tell them ‘NO!’

Closing note:
By the graphic at the top of the article, I was not excluding the female members of Congress. I was using the graphic to refer to the ‘good ole boy network’ attitude so noticeable in Congress. It is this ‘network’ which has allowed bad legislation like HR5, S1177, and the HEA to even exist. We, the citizens MUST not allow them to survive!

Weekend News: HEA (Higher Ed Act) and the ‘Common Core’

States are ensnared in the alignment of education and workforce.
States are ensnared in the alignment of education and workforce.

Greetings, Warriors! What’s the latest on the re-authorization efforts concerning the Higher Education Act, but HOW is the “Common Core” involved? The quick answer is “Career Technical Education”. (what I’ve proven to be the ‘adult version of the K-12 “Common Core Standards”). Another short answer is the ” Initiative behind the entire alignment of education.”

What is Congress up to concerning the education/workforce? We’ve seen what they’ve highlighted so far in the “Student Success Act” and the “Every Child Achieves Act”.  The HEA hasn’t been talked about much lately, that’s true. However, the CCSS Machine (my reference to the entity that involves and surrounds the “Common Core State Standards”), has plenty of plans.

The above image is from Oregon. Does your state have a similar ‘track’ for the aligned “K to Career”? Here’s one from California that is specifically for higher education.

From the U.S. House of Representatives:

NC Representative, Virginia Foxx said this back in March, ” In recent years, as the postsecondary student population has changed, many institutions have developed new approaches to delivering higher education, including competency-based curriculums and online classes. The federal government should make every effort to support these innovations, as they have enabled more Americans to earn a degree or certificate faster, with less cost, and without additional disruption to their daily lives.” She then states the following a bit later on, “these pillars will translate into meaningful federal reforms that reflect the evolving needs of students and the workforce.”
To see her entire statement, visit: http://edworkforce.house.gov/newsroom/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398559

From the entire U.S. House of Representative’s Education and Workforce Committee’s March 2014 Budget and Fiscal Views for 2015, “In critical areas such as early learning, workforce development, and higher education, the Obama administration’s latest budget proposal aims to make an existing maze of programs even more costly and confusing. Spending more money on broken programs will not provide the support our most vulnerable children, workers, and families desperately need. Education and workforce policies are vital to the success of our country and the future prosperity of our citizens. We all want to ensure students receive a quality education and workers acquire the skills necessary to compete in today’s workforce. To achieve these goals, we must abandon the status quo and enact meaningful reforms that lay the groundwork for a stronger, more prosperous nation – without piling more debt on future generations. Throughout the first session of the 113th Congress, the House Education and the Workforce Committee successfully advanced responsible proposals to revamp the nation’s job training system, raise the bar on K-12 education, promote workplace flexibility, and strengthen higher education.

What follows in the rest of the Budget for Fiscal Year 2015, is simply astounding in its support for the “Student Success Act”. As we witnessed, much evidence has been produced to show just HOW embedded the HR5 (Student Success Act) is with the ‘workforce’ agenda which BEGINS in the K-12 portion AND extends to Higher Education! Read the document for yourselves, Edworkforcebudget

From July 2015, a  press release from the Education and the Workforce Committee, headed up by Rep. John Kline, shared the following,  From Rep. Kline, “There is a lot of work to do in the coming months, and I am confident we will be able to craft a bicameral education bill that reduces the federal role, restores local control, and empowers parents and education leaders.” From Sen. Lamar Alexander, “Fifty million children and 3.5 million teachers deserve to get a result, and we should be able to achieve that this fall.” Also speaking up, were Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Bobby Scott. Murray’s comments included this, “As we head toward conference, I look forward to continuing to improve the final bill to make sure all students have access to a good education.” Scott shared this, ” I stand committed to producing a bipartisan bill that eliminates resource inequities and effectively addresses achievement gaps.” To see the rest of the press release gloating about the greatness of BOTH the HR5 and the S1177, http://edworkforce.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=399220

From the U. S. Senate’s HELP Committee:

HELP is short for “Health, Education, Labor, and, Pensions. This is the committee that’s comparable to the House’s Education/Workforce one. Here’s an excerpt from their homepage on the website, “The HELP Committee is ensuring our country’s workforce is prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st Century through a lifetime of learning for our citizens. We have jurisdiction over various issues related to education and workforce development, including Head Start, the No Child Left Behind Act, Higher Education, the Arts and Humanities, Student Financial Assistance, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Job and Vocational Training and the Workforce Investment Act.”

At a July 2015 hearing concerning re-authorizing the HEA, members of the HELP heard from the Lumina Foundation, The Higher Learning Commission, and others.

Tied to HELP:

Lumina is KNEE DEEP in the CCSS Machine! Here’s the link to my June 2015 article where I exposed Sen. Alexander’s views on the upcoming re-authorization of HEA in a conference featuring Lumina, Gates Foundation, and the National Journal‘s sponsorship. https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/06/11/tech-thursday-more-alexander-hea-and-the-next-america/
Wait, there’s more proof! Here’s my article where I shared how the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) is producing research in support of MORE CCSS alignment between K-12 and post-secondary institutions. Lumina Foundation is among the pro CCSS groups FUNDING the SREB. This article will also give you the other regional education boards as well as other groups helping fund a continued bridge from one educational system to another. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/25/sic-em-saturday-using-community-colleges-for-more-core/
Lumina also has ‘profiled’ higher education degrees. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/wybi-ccss-supporter-profiling-higher-ed-degrees/ Embedded in this article is the Lumina Foundation statement for alignment of K-12 to Higher Education.

Why so much information on Lumina? During the Senate’s HELP hearing, the president of the Foundation spoke about the 3 most important things to be included in the re-authorization of the HEA. The #1 priority? Building (or redesigning) clear pathways to careers! It’s also important because the president also uses Western Governors University as the most consistent example of higher education CBE (Competency Based Education). I shared with you back in March 2015, how WGU (Western Governors University) is part of the CCSS Machine. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/13/fom-achieving-cc-aligned-competencies/ The Lumina Foundation’s president also shared this fact, “In fact, more than 30 institutions have formed a nationwide network – the Competency-Based Education Network, or C-BEN – to keep the momentum going. These models are meeting students where they are, recognizing the learning that they’ve already obtained – whether in classrooms, on the job, in the military or through life experience.” You’ll need to see the other things this leader testified about. He includes Starbucks and Arizona State University. Both are pro Common Core/Career Tech Education. See: http://www.help.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/Merisotis.pdf

As far as the Higher Learning Commission, (HLC) and it’s devotion to Common Core/Career Technical Education? We’ll get there in a minute or so. First, though, the HLC is one of 6 regional accreditation organizations spread throughout the USA. Nineteen states are served by the HLC. To see which ones, https://www.hlcommission.org/About-the-Commission/about-hlc.html

Here’s a document where the HLC has an Illinois post-secondary school’s Career Tech Education alignment. The document is one of the HLC’s action projects. See: HLC CTE project
HLC is also the group accrediting a U.S. Army school where Common Core is taught. See:
http://usacac.army.mil/organizations/cace/cgsc/achievement (one of the explanations given for this? “Natural career progression”. (In case you missed it, the U.S. Army has issued a fully supportive CCSS statement. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/16/tech-thursday-common-core-military-special/)

Related to the HLC is CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation). I exposed how tied to the CCSS/CTE they were back in April 2015. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/ftf-chea-cte-ccss-and-america/

C-BEN:

Access to their website: http://www.cbenetwork.org/
Lumina
is a supporting member of this network. Public Agenda is, too. Public Agenda is known for all kinds of policy reform. Here’s an excerpt about them. “Since 1975, Public Agenda has helped foster progress on K-12 and higher education reform, health care, federal and local budgets, energy and immigration.”

From C-BEN’s resource library, a study by WICHE (Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education). WICHE‘s been awarded a slew of grants for CCSS/CTE work from the Gates Foundation. See: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=WICHE
New America Foundation
is also among those in the Resources section of C-BEN. How is New America tied to Congress and/or the CCSS Machine? See my two part article set:

To access the C-BEN’s resources for supporting outcome based education: http://www.cbenetwork.org/resource-library/

One resource you’ll definitely be interested in is the Lumina Foundation/Gallup, Inc. It’s all about the redesigning of higher education WITH competency based education as THE only way to learn. See: http://www.cbenetwork.org/sites/457/uploaded/files/Americas_Call_for_Higher_Education_Redesign.pdf

Closing:

Expect more Competency based education in higher education and the re-authorizing of the Act. Expect MORE CCSS Machine rhetoric for Career Technical versions of the Standards. Expect to see Sen. Lamar Alexander speak in favor of MORE alignment. Lastly, expect this: WE, the opposed to the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative), WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING!

Freedom Friday: CCSS Warrior Reminders

Fighting so ALL may be independent of the CCSS Machine!
Fighting so ALL may be independent of the CCSS Machine!

This Independence Day weekend, I’m taking no time off to celebrate freedom. Not while our nation is under attack by the CCSS Machine. This upcoming week, will be historic. If our voices are heard in D.C. and the horrid ‘Every Child Achieves Act’ is halted, we, the CCSS Warriors can know we were key to that victory. However, we MUST not relax too much. The Higher Education Act and it’s re-authorization (which is just as horrid as ECAA) is set to be voted on soon.

I’ve reported how those behind the HEA are heavily relying on the fact that while all eyes are on the ECAA, the HEA can quietly be pushed through. Warriors, we CANNOT allow this!

ECAA will impact every K-12th grade student in its domain. BUT the HEA will impact every post-secondary citizen out there. Regardless of what educational choice you were are product of in your K-12th education, when you reach post-secondary education, CCSS/CTE will be thrust upon you. You’ll have no choice! This means every recent graduate of high schools across the nation, every returning-back-to-the-campus adult taking refresher courses or earning a new degree! The uniting factor for ECAA and the HEA isn’t for YOUR benefit, it’s for the CCSS Machine’s benefit. IE: the national economy and global positioning of America.

So, you see, we’re NOT free..not at all. Please read the reminders below that are fact based, NOT opinion based.

1) Anything connected or about to be connect to CCSS, CTE is based on illegal education activity.

10933942_887983361253004_5066153019114171554_n

2) Both the HEA and the ECAA contain MORE aligned assessments, teacher/professor retraining to include the CCSS/CTE career tracks, and massive data mining where the Dept. of Labor and the Dept. of Education are ‘married’ in a nation-wide effort. The first graphic below is a career track which begins in high school and is offered to every educational choice out there (traditional brick and mortar or virtually) and continues on into post-secondary education. The second graphic you see is straight from the Workforce Quality Data Initiative where the stunning fact of student data mining’s marriage can be found.

If I complete everything in my competency model, I can have a career! Yippee!!

3) If you’d like to hear my latest interviews on any of the above reminders, I’m including the links. We know the CCSS/CTE is toxic to our nation, we know there are many, many others out there who don’t realize it. Use any of this information to help raise awareness.

Thank you for sharing it. Every anti CCSS warrior and his/her efforts is appreciated..and sorely needed.
