Know Thy Worth?

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, we’re quickly approaching a new school year (2017-18). It’ll be another year of contention for those who are dead-set against the CCSS Machine

Over the summer, many of us have continued to chip away at the facade of how ‘local’ ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is and the true identity of the global, UN (United Nations) grasp over our federal government’s adherence to the modern education reform.

Would You Know What the Global CCSS Machine Values Are?

Warriors, did you know that the UN has ROI (Return on Investment) formulas for education? These formulas, of course will include assessements (tests), teaching, and other factors. However, it’s not the student who will come out the winner, but the businesses AND economy which will reign supreme in education. Why? Workforce based, skilled citizens. If the UN has such, we can ‘bet the bank’ the USA does, too.

Needed Background Information:

For example, back in 2014, I wrote an article about a local meeting which laid out the intersecting of the working world, politicians, and education. Oh, and, yes, the business world was represented by the State level Chamber of Commerce. Look below for a sample of what I shared then.

parentproblemTo see and read the rest of the article, go here. If you’ve not seen how the P3s (public private partnerships) influence your local education system, visit here.

Warriors, we must remember, P3s are increased in power, thanks to ESSA. Globally speaking, their power is enormously strong, as well. The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) provide the way for this across the globe.

Here, in America, a series of federally passed laws provide the way. Chief among them are: ESSA, WIOA, HEA, the STEM Act, and many more. If you missed how the P3s are running higher education as a ‘return on investment’ for the economy, check out my 2015 article where you’ll see your students on a wheel.

Also, Warriors, keep in mind, the big corporations are not the only investors in ‘education’. The SBA (Small Business Administration) is knee-deep in the alignment/investing ploy, too. These will be the more ‘local’ overreaches you see today.

Warriors, we know of plenty of American career tracking, but what about the international career tracking and/or skill based tests? Are there any? Of course!
Back in March 2017, I shared with you the ties between American and the PIAAC (Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). This test measures our adults (and thus, teachers, education leaders) and their ‘value’ to the economy.

Your Global Worth?

So, how does all this tie to the UN’s SDGs?! Watch the short video below. It features a school leader (early 2017) explain ‘rigor’ in the global scheme of things. While I listened to this man, I heard so many words with very little meaning. (A classic tool of the CCSS Machine) This school is an American school (Ranney School in NJ. It’s an  independent school which is a UN partner school. Ranney School also is con-joined with Monmouth University as another UN partner school.

Warriors, did you catch the ‘innovation’ plugs? Did you hear the ‘what’s taught’? The Tool Kit for teaching the SDGs is full of how to teach to manipulate values, beliefs, and attitudes. (*Note, when you access the article, you can also get to the entire 142 page Tool Kit. Simply click on the phrase ‘tool kit’ in the section beginning with “From 2002..”)

basic
How did I find out about the NJ schools and their UN partnerships? Their project is being tracked in real time by the UN itself! If you’d like to see the entire results, go here.
Be sure to look for the ‘measured outcomes’ of the project.

ranneymonmouth

If you’d like to see more about this from Ranney’s media, I urge you to access it here.
If you’d like to see and learn more about the Global Citizen Signature Program which is also a part of the Ranney School, click here. Look below for a screen shot:

GCsignatureIs the Ranney School exclusive in the US as a UN partner? Hardly. It’s simply an example for this article. According to the UN’s SDG Initiative Tracking website, there are 524 other global education partnerships in progress right now. If you’d like to see them, find them here. However, remember, Warriors, education is the preferred ‘change agent’ so the alignment in education will be in ALL 17 goals for SD (Sustainable Development), not simply one.

A Big Clue:

As far as anyone’s worth in the current education takeover/reform? It’s not what you know, it’s how you work. Listen to the job forecast in the video below:

Warriors, you can access the article which is to accompany this video. You’ll want to make note of their mention of the U.S. Dept. of Labor (and others). Remember, EVERY Cabinet level agency is in on the CCSS Machine’s workforce shift. Why? As an active SDG Resolution signing country, we must shift education. Look below at the website I found on the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s website:

Find the Handbook here.

How the OCED* (Organization for Cooperation in Economic Development) rates ‘returns on investment’ in education. This 2009 Report looks at student outcomes and the cost of educating people. (*Note: OCED is a partner via the Global Compact of the UN.)

This un-dated World Bank “education return on investment” shows how education and growth for economics should be a hand-in-hand process.

UNICEF (a part of the UN), in their 2015 Report, stress a hefty return on investment via education of up to 30%.

How the USA rates ‘returns on investment’ in education can be found on the website “U.S. Global Leadership Coalition”.
The member organizations and corporations for the US GLC include some of the biggest CCSS Machine groups. Find them here.

Closing:

Back in 2016, MarketWatch’s website suggested we ‘moneyball’ education. Maybe they read ESSA better than those who voted on it. Moneyballing is exactly what will be happening more and more in American classrooms of all ages. We can also expect those bankrolling education will have many strings in the way education is conducted. Expect more of a business, not a labor of love, Warriors.

Do the better ‘thing’, the ‘smarter than the global-UN/US thing’: Don’t send your students back to school! Hug them instead, talk with them about their TRUE value and worth. It is beyond ANY amount of money!

CTE’s Open Memo

To: All Career Tech Educational Instructors {CTE} (K-12, post-secondary in public, private, or for-profit educational institutions)

From: The Common Core Diva

CC: All anti Fed Ed Warriors, regardless of school choice

Subject: Impact of shift from academics to workforce in your workplace

Summary: Due in part from the United States federal government’s agreement with the United Nations to uphold and adhere to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals); Congress’s legislation to create WIOA {Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act} and the STEM Act {Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math}; re-write and re-authorize both the ESEA {Elementary and Secondary Education Act} and the HEA {Higher Education Act}. ESEA is now the ESSA {Every Student Succeeds Act}, HEA remains the same..for now. Also responsible for this shift in your workplace are the P3s {Public Private Partnerships}. These P3s will be either globally active or locally active; some will be both.

Changes You May See Now, or, Will See Soon:

1) An increase in computer training to earn digital badges or credentialed certificates thereby creating a decrease in hard copy books or instructional manuals. This is usually promoted as a way to ‘go green and save paper’. In reality, it’s a way to create a ‘life-long learning’ track of employability for you. In most instances, these courses are used for giving a teacher/leader a ‘promotion’. Ususally, these are mere lateral steps, not actual promotions. As such, you may see (or not see) your income increased. These tracks are usually professionally developed by various CCSS (Common Core State Standards) supportive groups or organizations. Because CTE IS Common Core (by a different name), your training is aligned to meet THOSE standards. Most of the time, in addition to your company’s policy for training and leadership. Teachers/Leaders, remember the Business Roundtable, several unions, and almost every major corporation have backed this shift in education from academics to workforce for years. CTE has given them the opportunity to do it in the name of ‘jobs’. Our federal government uses it as a tool to sell human diginity in exchange for a better economy.

AK assess

2) A shift you will NOT see, but is happening to you is a direct result of #1. That is data mining. Yes, your computer based training is captured, studied, and shared by countless educational groups and any other group they work with or are contracted to work with. This data, is also shared on the federal government level, as well as globally. Why? Your ‘competency’ is measured to be used against you later on. If you do not ‘teach’ well, your students do not ‘learn’ well. These 2 factors are weighed against the entire school. If a post-secondary school doesn’t measure up to the accrediting body’s standards (also directly overseen by the U.S. Dept. of Education and those post-secondary accrediation organizations it works with), funding is cut. Which means, pay cuts or lay-offs become a bigger reality.

UNdatatrack

3) CTE teacher/leader ‘incentives’  are part of the ESSA mandates for workforce-based education. On Page 17 of the Law, it is plainly stated that ALL education must be post-secondary readiness aligned as per the WIOA definition of ‘readiness’. That definition?! “Career and College Ready” (which is another name for Common Core and Career Tech Education). However, instructors, the strings by which you may earn these ‘incentives’ is hardly worth the price. Expect more monitoring of your student’s contributions in class; group based projects/group collective grades; their behaviors and attitudes (College and Career Ready calls it SEL, social emotional learning); expect that you will have to jump through more hoops than ever to be qualified to teach, but NOT how you wish to lead, but by a contrived system. As part of the re-writing of the HEA, expect more of this kind of micro-management of your schools. Consider, if your school loses accrediation for lack of credentialed leaders or enough graduates, you may be out of a job.
(Remember, as a post-secondary educational institution, public, private, or for-profit, your largest funding stream is CTE money based on students from ages 5-17, regardless of what school they attend.)

foxxed

4) How does a student become Career and College ReadyCareer Tracks!  Assessments! These do not only show up in traditional K-12th grade schools. They are present in early college programs, trade schools apprenticeships, dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, AP courses and IB courses. All of which are accessed by ALL education choices, including home education. Any extra curricular STEM program is also part of the Career Tracking and Assessments.

ccappre
Some of the companies here love CTE and Career Pathways. They also are unabashedly supportive of CC aligned citizens.

Teachers/leaders, do not be surprised if you see an increase in the number of tests your students must take. Look out especially for the assessment called “WorkKeys”. If a student hasn’t received it in a K-12th grade institution, it may be an added requirement at your school, given upon admissions. “WorkKeys” is most definitely a Common Core/CTE alignment tool to groom students for their career tracks. These tests do not take into consideration talents or desires of students. Whatever skill -based results the WorkKeys gives, is what your student’s education will be streamlined to. Look for buzzwords like “personalized learning” or ‘personalized instruction’. These are ‘code’ for data mining, career tracking algorithms for both teacher and student.

deludeded

Questions for Reflection:
Is this why I wanted to teach? Is this how I wish to continue to teach? Will the cost of college, career schools continue to increase? If so, how much of MY tax dollars will be used? Will these dollars be used as I choose? Since I receive a portion of these tax dollars as my salary, am I okay with this shift in education?
If I stay in my teaching position, how can I fight this overreach in my school?  Is my stance helping promote this kind of governmental control to succeed, or, is there a way I can strike an effective blow?

No Enigma Here

It’s a new work week, Warriors. While I’m sure you’ve heard the news that once again, the voices of those who cherish freedom were ignored, know that we MUST fight on.

If you have not heard the news the American control of our internet is gone. Several credible media sources have shared this. So, I won’t beat the news over your head. I’m sure other anti CCSS Warriors have also given much time to research and writing on this particular event. However, the internet and all that goes with it are  DEFINITE players in education.
So, what am I adding to the research/information?  Please check it out below.

Happening Now or Has Happened Not Too Long Ago:

I’ve previously shared with you about the White House led “Educate to Innovate”. Rather than share that article here, I wanted for us to look at the Initiative now. Especially since it is at our President’s bidding that our internet is no longer ours.

edin
This is from their website. To see more: http://www.educatetoinnovate.org/
A big clue to the CCSS Machine alignment is the NSF (National Science Foundation).
If you’ve missed any of what I’ve dug up on them, just search the blog for them. You’ll find out just how sold out this government entity is.

ICANN, Our New Internet Manager:

As I stated above, there’s lots of information out about ICANN ( Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). However, if you’ve not seen what ICANN does, here’s a short video about them.

While this may not sound to you like we’ve just lost our 1st Amendment freedom of speech, note that the capacity to neuter our voices has just ICANNeased (increased) tremendously!

So how will ICANN influence education? Look below:

canned

I found this information on the ICANN Labs page. Guiding you through how great these 4 ‘innovation tracks’ is Chris Gift.
Link for the Labs: http://labs.icann.org/en/about.html
Who is Christ Gift? ICANN has a very brief bio: https://www.icann.org/profiles/chris-gift
I didn’t have much luck finding his previous internet related jobs.

If you’d like to learn a bit more about ICANN’s activities before/after the South African meeting (where the President signed an agreement to give up our internet control): https://www.cscdigitalbrand.services/blog/icann-unveils-50-details/

What Else I Found:

Gates Foundation’s grant of $3,000,000.00 to the Education Superhighway, ES. ES has been busy helping try to sway the elections in November AS well as continue to align America’s schools to the internet.

International Data Mining Conference:

I also found the upcoming (Dec. 2016) International Data Mining Conference. Known as ICDM (IEEE International Conference on Data Mining). What is the IEEE (? That’s the world’s largest organization for technical engineers! Their main goal? Increasing the global digital footprint.  See: https://www.ieee.org/index.html

Below is a screen shot of the workshops already planned. I’ve given a very brief description of each workshop. Two things I noticed, when looking into each of these workshops. a) That each workshop casts an open call for ANYONE connected to data mining to submit research/influence opinions, etc. b) That each workshop has a committee of leaders, often who are representatives from the CCSS Machine. Look at how many of these will be used in education.

dataed2016To look at the workshops more in depth: http://icdm2016.eurecat.org/workshops/

To learn about their December conference, see: http://icdm2016.eurecat.org/

Happening 10/4/16:

The IEEE is using October 4, 2016 as the “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow” Day. Now, why did I put this AFTER the December Conference information? By you seeing WHAT IEEE/ICDM are doing, you can better arm your students on 10/4.
1) It’s a global day full of celebrating locations. Lots in the USA and many targeting girls.

Related and Some Time Ago:

These articles from my files can give you an excellent trail of data mining intrusion from far and wide. Since ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is law, you know the data mining/technology will continue to increase. (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/02/04/essa-and-digital-overload/)

Closing:

I leave you with a video I shot this past weekend. It’s not fancy, it’s not glamorous. It IS, however, important in light of the upcoming elections. We MUST use the season to inform others! We CANNOT afford to elect people who will help continue the handing over of our freedoms; aligning our education to fit the CCSS Machine; and harming our children!! We need leaders who will LISTEN to us. We also need leaders who wish to keep America, American.

WDED?!

The ‘burning’ question: WDED? Or, “What Did Education Do?”    Too stupid much!

Think of it as this way, my, anti CCSS Warriors. What ‘our’ U.S. Dept. of Education is doing since ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has become law makes as much sense as a sponge wearing pants.

Before I get to why I’m comparing a federal agency to a fictional character, let me back track a few days to my article about Dr. King’s road trip. Since taking over the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary role, Dr. King has stunned us almost daily with one agenda program or mandate after another. So when ‘his’ road trip (which, by the way WE are paying for with our tax dollars), hit the press,  I hit it even harder.

From my “King’s Bandwagon, It’s A-comin'”, here are his words, ” “I hope in the end it’s that folks see that they have a stake in the success of other people’s children. The reality is you can’t build walls high enough to keep the fate of your kids separate from the fate of the kid down the block, down the street, down the road, in the next community over – all our kids’ fates are bound up together. And the work that we’re doing on supplement not supplant, the work that we’re doing on socioeconomic diversity in schools and promoting efforts to increase school diversity, all of that is about saying we are one community and we are ultimately stronger together.” ”
  See the entire article, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/08/kings-bandwagon-its-a-comin/

So, ‘ED’s’ On the Road:

While Dr. King was in D.C., he appeared to be on what is a Southern term for well mannered, “minding his Ps and Qs”. But alas, take King out of D.C. and he seems to of ‘let it all hang out’. What in the world do I mean? Check out the latest ESSA related press release that ED is so proud of!

The Fed ED Press Release link:
https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USED/bulletins/164b0b6?reqfrom=share

The excerpt I’m highlighting is in the screen shot below:

edtour
Now, before I share a bit more about the ‘ball and chain’ ESSA will put on all the States by these ‘new guidance measures’, let me give you the side stories ED (and at least this press release have left out).
One: Note that in King’s statement there’s pointed direction to ‘return on investment’. “Great progress”?! Look below, Warriors:

carterreturn

Almost 40 years ago, President Carter uttered some pretty similar sentiments. The “Goobernator” as he was referred to as I was growing up in GA, obviously missed the days in class where the Constitution was taught.
Otherwise, he’d of known that NO federal investment in education is legal! Investing/return on investment in education is 100% illegal! It was then and it is now!
Two:

patrick

Yes, just like “SpongeBob’s” side kick,“Patrick”,  Dr. King has a sideshow host, Sen. Lamar Alexander!
Oh, Alexander’s quite the poser. Look at how long he’s been spewing rhetoric about ‘investing in education’. Look how long he waxed on every time ESSA was on the Congress’ schedule. Think about how long he gloated about those helping pass ESSA. They were NOT all legislators. There were scads of private groups sold out to the CCSS Machine!
Look how long he droned on at Dr. King’s confirmation. Oh, sure, he bellowed, he beat his fists, he’s since spread poppy-cock about ESSA and how ‘upset’ he is over King’s behavior!

This coming from the man who stated back in the 80s about ‘cradle to grave’ education alignment?! Alexander/Patrick’s latest sideshow? Do what you want with ESSA!
See: http://truthinamericaneducation.com/elementary-and-secondary-education-act/alexander-assume-can-want-under-essa/
*Note: any resemblance is certainly something that’s in the eye of the beholder.

What ESSA Really Says About All That ‘Guidance’:

Increased public private partnerships for not only students, but entire communities. Not only will your student succeed, he or she will succeed because everyone in town had a hand in it. The reality? Non educators will have more opportunities to teach. More ideology you may not wish to have your child exposed to at this time will be ‘in their faces’. These P3s will also be rewarded by the LEAs and SEAs for ‘performing’. Want your child to advance a grade? It won’t be up to the teacher anymore, but the LEAs and P3s.
Below is just one example of the kind of guidance education is getting. It’s not in the name of ‘quality academic education’ BUT Career Tech Ed (adult CCSS) for workforce!

supportfor5587

More research conducted, especially by the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s special teams, in the name of understanding people. The reality? Constant measuring, assessing, and reporting. Our students AND their families will become lab rats. Entire communities will be graded, measured, and assessed as well. Not performing well? Funding for certain programs will be on the chopping block. ESSA will have the assessments reach (quite literally) into your homes.

Those ‘returns on investment’? That’s the CCSS Machine’s new way of referring to our sons and daughters. They’ve been reduced to financial commodities, including ‘human capital’.

What Works, but Really is Dependent:

The splendorous Ed Press Release also boasted of the NEW “What Works”. Oh joy, (sarcasm intended).
First off it’s in the IES (Institutes for Educational Sciences). IES is behind the lab rats programs and assessments, including that in-home assessment for how well your family is hooked up for the internet.
Then, there’s the REL (Regional Education Labs). More lab rats.
ESSA has ‘region specific education’ language for a purpose.
ESSA also has lots and lots of language for career and college readiness; post-secondary readiness. The CCR (college/career readiness) Centers have our nation broken into regions, too. Coincidence? Hardly.
Then, there’s NCEE (National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance). More assessing, and measuring. More alignment to a global agenda. More ‘region specifics’. See my article about how the regional and the global meet under NCEEhttps://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/04/wybi-ccsss-ego-issues/

A screen shot of how the CCSS Machine, ESSA, and IES connect to so much more than we’ve seen to date:

aeraessa

So, Warriors, What SHOULD  ED do? How about become non existent?!

Going for the Golden Games

Ahh, the Summer of 2016. Anti CCSS Warriors, no doubt you will more than likely be watching the Summer Olympics from Brazil in about one month. In the past I exposed for you how the Special Olympics had not only gone Common Core aligned, but was using the Special Needs participants data for tracking purposes. (In case you missed that one, see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/12/07/monday-musings-more-than-meets-the-eye/)

So, it should be NO surprise that the International Olympic Games be aligned to a global education agenda. Where there is global education agenda, there will be Common Core! (*Note: As the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) calls it, ‘college and career ready’/’challenging state academic standards’. No matter what name, it is ALL global education agenda driven!)
This in-depth article follows the agenda.

Where the Global Agenda for Educational Play/Sports Can Be Found:

Look no further than the WHO (World Health Organization). WHO is a part of the UN (United Nations). UN also has UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization). UNESCO has the global “Education for All” agenda. UNESCO and Bill Gates also signed an agreement in 2004 for a global curriculum. (See Berit Kjos’  publication, “Common Core: A Global Education”) UNESO also has IB (International Baccalaureate Schools). Those IB Schools have an extremely controversial altruistic helping write curriculum.
The IB Schools are among the educational institutions included in the ESSA.

Where the IOC (International Olympics Committee) is Taking Global Ed:

oed
In the screen shot above, notice the underlined sentence. ‘Sports as a possible source for inner improvement’.
While that doesn’t appear on the surface to be so aligned to global education, or even the CCSS agenda, think about how aligned to CCSS, sports already is!
Think about the mandates in the ESSA where personal learning, student achievement, and behavior interventions (among others) will use anything remotely connected to education to use it for alignment purposes. Consider all the other Warriors who have shown us the mental destruction CCSS is causing NOW.

None of this, of course will be talked about during the Olympics Games themselves. Everyone will be cheering, fawning over how great the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists did in their respective sports. No one will stop to think (at least for long), just how thin a veil of deception is being laid over the time in Brazil.

So, Warriors Against the Core, what can WE learn about the IOC’s Ed Program?! Let’s find out!
Website: https://www.olympic.org/olympic-values-and-education-program
According the Overview of the Program, sports is considered the ‘school of life’. Now, let me pause for just a moment..
Not 2 or 3 days ago I published an article about the “Readiness Redefined” National Campaign. Among the ‘readiness’ portions of education to be redefined? Life! (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/07/09/ready-or-not/)

Also according to the Overview, the Program interlinks with 21st Century Skills which are needed (not to mention also embedded in the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), HEA (Higher Education Act), ESSA, STEM Act, and more). The IOC Ed Program is to be used inside and outside the classroom. ESSA has mandates for during school and after school student activities, supports, etc.

The basis for the Program is in the power of the Olympic Symbols. (I kid you not.)
Here is the excerpt, “Using the symbols of the Olympic Games, the themes of Olympism, and drawing on the lore of the ancient and modern Olympic Games, the programme aims to disseminate a values-based curriculum that will shape the development of child and youth character. Using the context of Olympic sports, participants are taught skills and strategies that will help them to assume the responsibilities of global citizenship and civic literacy.”

What’s worth noting is that the Program has a FREE toolkit for educators, community leaders, or anyone who wishes to use the educational lessons. The toolkit will be available for downloading soon, but in the meantime check out the information. See: https://www.olympic.org/olympic-values-and-education-program/about-the-toolkit

Other Olympic Education Initiatives:

Since 1988 (according to the IOC’s website), there has been a new educational outreach (aka: initiative) each Olympics. So far, there are 21 initiatives. For example the Initiative from Slovenia is called the Fair Play School. One of the main objectives? Teaching tolerant behavior through PE. See: https://www.olympic.org/slovenia-promoting-values-of-sport-and-olympism-fair-play-school
Over on the UNESCO website for Fair Play Schools (FPS) Initiative, it is called “Fair Play:  the Winning Way”.
See all the responsibilities involved in being a FPS: http://portal.unesco.org/education/en/ev.php-URL_ID=2223&URL_DO=DO_TOPIC&URL_SECTION=201.html

Warriors, did you know there is a United Nations Secretary on Sports for Development and Peace? The Coaches Guide (used all over the world) is full of kinds of ways to use sports as skill building for good citizenship. Download the GuideCoaches_Guide_english

If you would like to see the other Olympic Education Initiatives (some links work, some don’t), see: https://www.olympic.org/olympic-values-and-education-program/initiatives

Let’s face it, CCSS/Global aligned education will not be going into anyone’s decision when they buy into the Olympic marketing. Yet, the IOC redistributes those dollars to not only athletes, but sport organizations across the globe. See below:

iocmoney
Broadcasting rights in the US? NBC, a well known Common Core Supporter.
If you really want to follow the money trail for the Olympics, you can use this Marketing Fact Guide which tells the global partners for Rio 2016. (See Page 11. How many CCSS Machine member organizations do you see? I saw Toyota as an example. They are banner leaders in the adult version of CCSS: CTE (Career Tech Education). See: Olympic-Marketing-Fact-File-2016

Think of it this way, every time we purchase an Olympic postage stamp, T-shirt, or a product from the global partners, we are feeding the very CCSS Machine set on leveling education to a globally aligned one.

Oh, A Few Last Facts:

Brazil is considered a ‘Champion Country’ for UNESCO’s “Education for All” (that one world curriculum discussed earlier). To see all the accomplishments UNESCO is so proud of from Brazil, http://www.unesco.org/new/en/brasilia/education/education-for-all/

Contrast that with the 2015 Brazil Business Report about the problems of Brazil’s education, http://thebrazilbusiness.com/article/the-brazilian-educational-system

The Federal Government of Brazil regulates education. They regulate everything about education, both public AND private. See: http://www.brazil.org.za/brazil-education.html

The NASFA (National Association of State Facilities Administrators: Association of International Educators) here in the USA, has a file on Brazil’s education where you can see grading scales for certificates called “Leaving Certificate” when it comes to higher education. See: EDU Systems Brazil
If you do not know about NASFAhttp://www.nafsa.org/About_Us/About_NAFSA/

To see the Common Core NASFA News Release bombshell I found, look below:
nasfaglobal
The Press Release tells you how NASFA, the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) and Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (inTASC) partnered together to build off the 2011 CCSS for the new Global Education you see above.
https://www.nafsa.org/About_Us/About_NAFSA/Press/New_Standards_to_Integrate_Global_Education_into_PK-12_Teaching_Standards_and_Curriculum/

To get the Global Prep Guide featured in the Press Release, click their embedded link. It is available to download for free, but you must be a logged in visitor or member to get the download. I found a sample Standard, however: http://www.nafsa.org/_/File/_/intasc/InTASC_2015_Standard1.pdf

Closing:

Warriors, I hope you have learned much in this article. I know in researching, I did.
How can we fight this? So much already seems to much in place for us to defeat it.
As always, once you know, go..and tell others. Power is in the people’s hands to defeat more from our top-down educational system than we realize. Get involved. If you haven’t read the ESSA Proposed Regulations yet, do so! Provide feedback where you see the gross overreaches in these regulations. Refuse to support any part of the CCSS Machine you choose to..be it buying an Olympic t-shirt to boycotting McDonald’s. (One word though: the more who boycott the same place, the more impacting the message is). One huge factor of ESSA everyone seems to not know, or has glossed over. Congress can still reign in the U.S. Dept. of Ed!

Following Up

This article is to follow up on the bombshell dropped yesterday on the AFT (American Federation of Teachers), NEA (National Education Association), TURN, and other CCSS Machine members funneling money to reform our educational system into a labor force management system.

Many anti CCSS Warriors not only read the bombshell and shared it, but came forth with MORE evidence! Each has asked me to share it with you.

To keep everything consistent, here is the link to yesterday’s article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/05/03/turn-the-ccss-page-please/

In it you were able to see how the Broad Foundation and the Gates Foundation have been the main funding groups. You saw how those teacher unions which claim supportive measures for education are also the ones being used to be the hands and feet of the reform. You also learned how some UK unions are supposedly joining the effort to hold Pearson Publishing accountable, yet Pearson is just as involved in being the hands and feet of the educational reform! So, are there others involved? Sure there are! Read on….

Enter the Clinton Foundation:

From Michelle E (one of the Warriors who supplied information for yesterday’s article), comes the evidenced link to how the Clinton Foundation is tied to  AFT. Below is a screen shot of the map:

AFTclinton

To access the map for yourselves, http://www.muckety.com/972CE582CC35C6EFED6B0BD380F87C0D.map

When you scroll over the map (on the website) you will see the relationships between AFT and those featured. For example, when you scroll over the dotted line between AFT and the Clinton Foundation, you see ‘funder’ appear. By double clicking on some boxes, you will see the map change to show you more connections. Look for the small plus sign box in the upper right hand corner. For example, when I double clicked on the Clinton Foundation, I found what you see below:

clintonmap

Do you see the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI)? Look at the other groups you see. Why would I mention the CGI? For one we know that the article featured in yesterday’s bombshell said the AFT was joining some UK Unions.

While most of the Unions are education related, it is interesting that a couple are not. Below is an example of one labor union not tied to all this, but is tied to CGI in another way.

Why do I include it? The  CCSS Machine agenda is for a workforce based education. In this excerpt, you can see the relation between labor and education.
“Furthermore, Clinton already has the backing of unions that together represent about two-thirds of American union members (including the two national teachers unions and the largest union of public-sector workers). SEIU (Service Employees International Union)  (might have calculated that Sanders would need the bulk of organized labor behind him to defeat the Clinton juggernaut.”
To read the entire article: https://www.jacobinmag.com/2015/11/hillary-clinton-bernie-sanders-unions-seiu-primary-endorsement/

To learn more about SEIU (headquarters are in Washington, D.C.):
http://www.seiu.org/press (*Note: be sure to scroll down and read some of their Clinton press releases. Also note that globally, 2 million people are members.)

If you want to read the CGI page for their take on CCR (College and Career Readiness), which also ties labor and education together. Note the website address is at the bottom of this screen shot:

clintonccr
When you visit the webpage, notice that the CGI 6th Annual Conference is coming up in June 2016. Note all the CCR supporters/presentations slated, etc. Much evidence is out there tying Hilary Clinton to Common Core/CCR, so I am not including any of that in this article.

Tying the Gates Foundation (featured in yesterday’s article) to the Clinton Foundation (featured in this article) are the over 4 pages of the Gates Foundation grants to the Clinton Family (includes the Health Initiative, the Global Initiative, and more:
http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=Clinton%20Global
)

Enter Tony Blair from the U.K.:

This connection comes from another anti CCSS Warrior, Michele K. She notified me yesterday to see if I (or other anti CCSS Warriors) knew that the former U.K. Prime Minister is not only a big fan of Common Core, but promotes it globally. Below is the website video from the Tony Blair Faith Foundation. The video is 2 years old.

Did you hear the lady speak of global citizens? Did you hear her mention the ‘civics mission of schools’? Did you catch how these tie to Common Core competencies? I looked up the Civics Mission of Schools. It is a real organization. Among the members of the organization is the AFT. The CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) is also a member, as are many other CCSS Machine Members. I did not find Tony Blair’s Foundation there or his Face to Faith (mentioned in the video above).

In the Civics Mission is similarly named group called Facing Our History, but that is NOT Blair’s from what I can tell.

To see the Civics Mission of Schools partners/associations:
http://www.civicmissionofschools.org/links (*Note: I have tied many of these to the CCSS Machine, including the Bill of Rights Institute, the American Bar Assoc. and others. If you would like to see how these seemingly patriotic groups are ties, please contact me.)

As far as Tony Blair’s Foundation, you may want to see what his Supporting the Next Generation Project involves. It is targeting 12-17 year old students globally via education.
Access the Project: http://tonyblairfaithfoundation.org/projects/supporting-next-generation

The relationship between Blair and Mrs. Clinton? Apparently, pretty tight. The Washington Examiner (2015) article about their emails and support for each other. (By the way, when Bill Clinton was President, he worked closely with Tony Blair.) http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/hillarys-surprising-ties-to-tony-blair/article/2573416

Another TURN Connection:

In yesterday’s article, we looked quite a bit at the TURN (Teacher Union Reform Network). However, I want us to go back and find out what groups are members of this Network. Will we find any of the organizations from today’s article?

Local groups in TURN: Albuquerque Teachers Federation, Boston Teachers Union, Castaic Teachers Association, Cincinnati Federation of Teachers, Cleveland Teachers Union, Columbus Education Association, Decatur Education Association, Denver Classroom Teachers Association, Douglas County (CO) Federation of Teachers, Elgin (IL) Education Association, Fairfax (VA) Education Association, Hart District Teachers Association, Jefferson County Education Association, Memphis Education Association, Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association, Minneapolis Federation of Teachers, Montgomery County (MD) Education Association, Newhall Teachers Association, Organization of DeKalb (GA) Educators, Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers, Portland (ME) Education Association, Poway (CA) Federation of Teachers, Prince George’s County Educators’ Association, Providence Teachers Union, Rochester Teachers Association, San Diego Education Association, San Juan (CA) Teachers Association, Saugus Teachers Association, Springfield Education Association, Syracuse Teachers Association, Toledo Federation of Teachers, United Educators of San Francisco, United Teachers of Dade, and Westerly Teachers Association

Among the voters and associates of the Network, you won’t find the Clintons, Gates, etc., but you will find many names you may recognize as CCSS Machine members. See:
http://www.turnweb.org/members/

However, it is the influencers of education reform I want to leave you with. TURN relies are these people as the game changers in how American education is taught. Again, bear in mind the CCSS Machine agenda is NOT academic based education OR is it American. It is workforce based for a global citizen.

Anti CCSS Warriors, do you know of even more connections? If so, let’s continue to join our information so that ALL may see the foundation already in place and how it is growing daily. Especially as we get closer to the November 2016 elections. Candidates in ALL levels of government need to be examined closely. I thank all the Warriors who have shared their knowledge so that we, too, can be just as prepared as possible to continue our War Against the Core.

Got the ‘Can Do’ Spirit?

schoolcandoAnti CCSS Warriors, it is no secret that the CCSS Machine knows who we are. I have to chuckle, however, when I get mail (snail or electronic) from one of the members. Case in point, Dr. John B. King, himself! As in the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Dr. John B. King.

What did he say? A lot of BS wrapped in a ‘can do spirited’ letter!

The Email:

I have no clue if you received such a letter, but I will share what I got. Notice the screen shot above. The image was at the bottom of the letter with 2 ways to share it with all my friends. The title of his letter to me, was ‘What My Teachers Did for Me’. I agree, our teachers are PRICELESS in what they teach…when they CAN teach! However, we are well aware that the activity of teaching is not happening like it should. So, what else did Dr. King wax eloquent about? See below in a point by point way. I will warn you, my musing self will add comments of satire. Why? Because a) it’s Monday and b) I have no respect for this man.

1) He called me ‘friend’. (Aren’t I the lucky one?)
2) He gives a super short description of how important ‘well rounded’ education is. (Tell me something I don’t know, Captain Obvious! While you’re at it, the real definition of ‘well rounded’ is NOT what you are overseeing.)
3) Almost the entire letter is about himself and his rough life. (Awwww, isn’t that special?)
4) He whines about not enough of today’s students are having ‘life changing’ educations. (Sure they are. They hate school, think they are dumb, hurt themselves, and other negative life changes.)
5) He shares that we have said there is too much focus on math and English. He cites NCBL (No Child Left Behind) as the problem. (Oh geez, here we go again, blame the past for ALL this mess instead of acknowledging the CURRENT law (ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act) which extends the mess!)
6) He then sets the tone of “I have spoken” with his statement of agreeing with the President and the recently departed Arne Duncan, as Secretary of Education that there is too much testing.  While I agree the testing is too much (this is possibly the only truth in this letter, by the way), stating it in a bossy tone and admitting you agree with two other CCSS Machine members doesn’t make a strong statement I can believe.
7) Here is how he ended the letter, as my ‘friend’…
kingplea

I guess this is the part where I am supposed to fawn over this invitation to partner with the U.S. Dept. of Education..NOT!

What the ‘Can Do Spirit’ is Doing on Twitter:

If you noticed above, in the very first image, you saw the Twitter handle Dr. King has created for all this partnering he has invited us to. If you don’t see it, it is:
#WhatSchoolCanBe

Upon visiting, and leaving a few truth zapping comments, I noticed what appears to be at least one other Anti CCSS Warrior group, OptOutPinellas (FL). A big hat tip to them!!

The rest, all CCSS Machine members, organizations, or fans. Their ‘Can Do, Can Be Spirit’ is off the charts. (My ‘Fib-o-Meter’ would have a field day with this.) Pardon me, Warriors, but it is despicable. The U.S. Dept. of Ed has many other Twitter accounts and is using some of them to create buzz. One such?

globalcando

The CCSS Machine organization, Teach to Lead’s tweet was pretty far off the Fib charts, too.

teachleadcando

This one is crystal clear about the ‘Can Do/Can Be’ agenda..globalness.
agendacando
Trust me, if you want to check the rest out, do so..Then leave a few truth zapping facts, as the OptOutPinellas Group and I did. But, if you do check it out,  be warned, you will get a belly full of indoctrination and CCSS support, if you do!

iNACOL Comes to Home Education?!

onlinehsccssEspecially for the anti CCSS Warriors who have chosen home education as a way to escape the CCSS Machine. If you don’t home educate, then this news can be of use to you as well in seeing just how far overreaching the P3s (public private partnerships) have become. Continue reading iNACOL Comes to Home Education?!

FTF: A Chip off The Education Block

Sure, you've heard of private schools, but have you heard of 'micro' schools?!
Sure, you’ve heard of private schools, but have you heard of ‘micro’ schools?!

Anti CCSS Warriors, we have another education reform ‘wannabe’. Consider it a chip off the old CCSS Machine’s block.. What AM I talking about?! “Micro Schools”, of course! If you haven’t heard of them, that’s okay, I recently discovered these schools, too.
One other question we will address is how this ties back to the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act).

So, What is a ‘Micro School’?

I found out about them via the Gates Foundation supportive, CCSS Machine member: Ed Week. (See: http://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2016/01/27/micro-schools-could-be-new-competition-for.html?r=608439843&cmp=eml-enl-eu-news1-RM)

Like its name, these schools are small in size (typically no more than an entire school population of 150). Unlike traditional schools, micros have all the students in one classroom.  While the article suggests these schools are like the old-fashioned one room schoolhouses, there is absolutely NOTHING old fashioned about the agenda behind these small schools. As an anti CCSS Warrior, see if you can catch the agenda the CCSS Machine has laced through these modern minis.

AltSchools, the Supposed Leader in Micro Schools:

This group is mentioned in the article I have linked you to (above). You can access their website, https://www.altschool.com/
From their ‘About Us’ page, their mission statement begins with, ” AltSchool is a collaborative community of micro-schools that uses outstanding teachers, deep research, and innovative tools to offer a personalized, whole child learning experience for the next generation.”
(*Note, be sure to watch the embedded video with the smiley faced guy.)
You should love the fact he is a businessman now involved in education. While that doesn’t seem so bad, listen to his pro CCSS companies he rattles off. (example: Google) Don’t miss his plug for project based learning (which is rooted in another progressive, pro CCSS Machine member, The Buck Institute. (my previously published look at PBLs:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/25/sic-em-saturday-ccss-progressives-and-pbls/ )

Currently, AltSchools are in CA, NY, IL. To see the AltSchool locations in their entirety,
https://www.altschool.com/about-us#our-parents
(*Note, be sure to click on one of the existing locations to look at the floor plan. You will see what many other traditional schools are doing, totally transforming them to be open locations with centers.)

The curriculum? Forget about seeing your student as a person, this group is after “T-shaped learners”.  What the heck is a “T-shaped learner”? An excerpt, “…Students who have a wide breadth of knowledge across all subjects and depth in the subjects that they are passionate about. In addition to cultivating strong social-emotional skills, AltSchool students build competency across core academic areas: math, science, English language arts, and social studies. Through our before- and after-school co-curricular offerings, students delve even deeper into subjects of interest, including drama, arts, coding, and foreign languages.”
The educators? All 21st Century ones. See the entire description of both curriculum and educators, https://www.altschool.com/education#curriculum
(*Note: the heavy use of technology and the reference to aligning to the most recent education discoveries.)
From the FAQs, this loaded statement of CCSS Machine groups in the curriculum:
‘AltSchool’s learning objectives draw from a variety of standards and metrics as a framework for instructional design. Our Lower and Middle School instruction is informed by the Common Core, National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Next Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), among others.’

Helping fund AltSchools? Facebook and Apple owners! Yep,  these two pro CCSS Machine members even made the news about their investments. See: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2015/05/04/altschool-scores-100-million-from-mark-zuckerberg-and-others/26740867/
(*Note: be sure to read where the AltSchool founder reveals that there are non-profits and other investors on board as well.)

Other financial backers? “Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, Harrison Metal, John Doerr, Jonathan Sackler, Learn Capital, Omidyar Network, and other leading investors.” To learn more about why these investors are lining up in huge support of AltSchools, you will need to see the AltSchools Press Release from 2014. It explains that the schools are a ‘certified B organization’. What does THAT mean? Heavy on social justice issues with a large collective mindset. See the entire press release: https://www.altschool.com/press-release-11-17-14

Want to better understand what a B Organization truly is? As an anti CCSS Warrior, you will be quick to pick up on the main themes, the global aspects, and the money to be made.

New Orleans, TX, and Globally: Micros Coming Soon!

Also included in the featured EdWeek article about AltSchools, were the facts that New Orleans public charters are considering the AltSchool way of education; that at least one private school in TX is already involved (since 2009); that  Catholic schools could be well served; how  comprehensive high schools could learn from AltSchools; and, that several non-USA locations are benefiting from AltSchools.
Warriors Against the Core
, are you seeing the pattern?

Not included in the NAIS:

AltSchools, according to the EdWeek article are not being tracked by the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools), so there may be many MORE micro schools in the world. However, my question is, are AltSchools accredited at all? One CBS interview from 2015, reveals the groups is in the process of becoming accredited. See: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/altschool-alternative-education/
Anti CCSS Warriors, do you recognize an issue here?

As Far as How This Plays into the ESSA:

Besides the red flags I have recently raised about the ESSA and technology/data/digital, the AltSchools have all sorts of CCSS Machine ties to overlook or assume they won’t be part of the ESSA written educational future in America. All this said, the AltSchools are considered ‘alternative education’. That phrase is most definitely used in the ESSA.
Alternative education evidence based state practices your LEAs (Local Education Agencies) can use to support a student: Page 99; Alternative routes for SEAs (State Education Agencies) to certify supporting programs: Page 111;  any alternative education method in regards to correctional facilities: Page 266;  alternative means of receiving a high school diploma: Page 793; For Native Americans, alternative education, standards, assessments: Page 811; The bigger the LEA, the bigger the funding weighed alternative: Page 946;Alternative routes for educators to teach or school leaders to lead: Pages 141; 305; 318; 322; 398; 800; 972-981 (ESSA Final Conference Report).

Considering my last 3 articles went into great detail about the digital and technology ties the ESSA has now put into action for all of us, you might wish to factor schools like AltSchools into the mix. Monday Musings: Purposed Embedding for the Core

Oh, the things I find in my email.
Oh, the things I find in my email.

Going through my email a couple of days ago, I opened this ‘lovely gem’. It’s all about how I can learn to purposefully embed formative assessments in my classroom.  While many anti CCSS warriors AND pro CCSS supporters have tackled formative assessments, we still are seeing new resources everyday geared to help us shine in the CCSS spotlight. What a crock. My hard earned money to pay for a book to teach me how to align my students. Let’s see what else we can find out. Join me as I ponder over assessments.

One Co-Author:

Pictured above is Dr. Dylan William. If you don’t know his name in education. That’s okay. I didn’t really either. I can tell you he’s got a great British accent. I can tell you he’s been in education for over 30 years. You can ‘google’ him and find out all kinds of CCSS related things he’s done. For example, “Education Week” writer Mr. Hess had an article back in 2014 about the 5 non signers of the CCSS validation committee. Dr. William was one of the five. However, his love for CCSS is ever present. See this excerpt, “In any event, one of the more interesting responses I received was from my friend Dylan William, emeritus professor of educational assessment at the Institute of Education, University of London; former senior research director at ETS; and author of Embedded Formative Assessment. Dylan was one of the 29 members of the Common Core Validation Committee and one of the five who refused to sign off on the standards. I asked if I could share his note, and Dylan gave his okay. It’s worth noting that Dylan remains bullish on the Common Core. He writes, “To re-iterate, I think the Common Core State Standards are our best shot at creating an education system that meets the challenges of the 21st century. I am frankly appalled at the level of much of the debate, so if you think this can help, by all means share it.” ” To see the rest of the article,

http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/rick_hess_straight_up/2014/09/common_core_validation_committee_non-signer_dylan_wiliam_shares_thoughts.html (*Note: ETS stands for Educational Testing Service. I’ve written about ETS as recently as yesterday. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/01/rmt-why-is-the-deck-still-being-stacked-to-serve-ccss/)

From back in his days at ETS, I did find a speech he gave to during the Salzburg Global Seminar back in 2011. Conference Theme? “Optimizing Talent: Closing Educational and Social Mobility Gaps Worldwide”. Dr. William’s full speech? “How Do We Prepare Students for a World We Can’t Imagine?” I found the document in Dropbox form, but I encourage you to access it for yourselves. It’s important you read and discern for yourselves what was shared. I’ll give you a hint however, his abstract paragraph opens with words to the effect of educational achievement is any given country’s economic detriment.  I urge you to access the 2011 version, then compare it to the 2014 version. Optimizing-Talent-20140829

If you’d like ETS’s short version of the 2011 speech, see their 2012 publication: optimizeded

NWEA:
A little more snooping on the internet and I found Dr. William on the NWEA‘s website (Northwest Evaluation Association). Based off the 5 ways William states that formative assessing should be embedded, is a blog article that you’ll need to read to believe. Especially the embedded video. The narrator of the video shares a huge nugget of information for us as CCSS warriors. He states that IF the kids score higher, get better jobs, the taxes generated off this successful students would pay the entire K-12 public school system’s needs for the next 30 years! Hawker Brownlow Education:

This company is a privately owned one in Australia and featured Dr. William back in 2013 where he extolled the virtues of formative assessing. Now, don’t get me wrong. When taken away from CCSS alignment, I believe formative assessing CAN help our education. But herein lies the “Catch 22”, no one in the assessing business seems capable of NOT aligning to CCSS, or to College/Career Readiness Standards, Next Gen Standards, and on and on. So, does HBE have ties to CCSS? Let’s see…

From Down Under, more CCSS alignment.

HBE also partners with  the Marzano Institute. If you’ve not heard of them, you will know about this group in a few minutes.

Marzano Institute:

Based in America, but with global outreach capacities. Also head of the RISC (Re-inventing Schools Coalition). Before we get to RISC, however, my Texan friends will most likely tie Marzano to CSCOPE. Their not “CCSS” but yes, it really is CCSS nightmare. Here’s an excerpt I found on The Blaze’s website, “But while the groups to which CSCOPE appears relatively beholden may sound alarms for critics, the actual researchers CSCOPE credits with providing the basis for its curriculum seem to be formidable industry veterans by and large. Those educators include Robert Marzano, Fenwick English, John Crain, Heidi Hayes Jacobs, Grant Wiggins, Jay McTighe, H. Lynn Erickson, and James Barufaldi.” (see the entire article: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/07/cscope-exposing-the-nations-most-controversial-public-school-curriculum-system/) You’ll probably want to read the 2013 article Freedom Outpost/Charlotte Iserbyt’s published article  as to how they described Dr. Marzano’s take on education. Right off the bat, at this website, I was greeted with the “Acheive, Inc.” logo. This won’t take long to find the CCSS tie, now will it? You’ll want to see all the groups who are partnering in the RISC project. Access the information:

In their own words, a chart to continue the outcome based type of education that doesn’t honor our students as much as it rates them on performance.

Nothing says OBE quite like 'perform, perform, perform!'

Closing:
SO much purposed embedding! Have you noticed a theme among the different people, groups, and organizations? I sure did. Economy, taxes, performance. UGH! What happened to real education?! As long as powerful people like this with very global agendas that are frankly un-American, we will need to sharpen our efforts to remain a land of free thinkers.
