Under Our Noses

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it hundreds of times that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) is a coined acronym in use to deceive us all.
Yes, I know, I’ve heard it before, “But, Lynne we’ve always had science and math. We’ve had engineering in the past and technology, too.”
HOWEVER, Warriors, the deception is that by creating an acronym with things we are familiar with, the agenda is easier to be implemented.

What do I mean? A few years ago, I wrote an article showing you how the NSF, National Science Foundation (a government funded agency of the USA), was tasked to come up with a marketing tool to ‘win’ the nation over with.

WHY? Evidence suggests their ties with the UN (United Nations). More to the point the UN’s damnable SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). STEM was (and is) the vehicle to change the course of education. At least according to the UN SDG Toolkit (created here in America). (*Note: you can access and read the Toolkit for yourselves. Look for the link under the Paragraph “From 2002”. The sentence beginning with “Tool Kit” is where you’ll find the document.)

THEN, once the acronym was selected, the President (Obama) had to be influenced. I also revealed HOW he was influenced (a PCAST Report).  (*Note: when you go back and read the embedded links, you’ll notice that the Presidential influence began well before President Obama, especially in regards to the NSF.)

So, what WAS the agenda and does it still survive under our current President?

Agenda: STEM ushered in about the same time as Common Core, so no one would notice. Use STEM to create a STEM people with a STEM education for STEM jobs and a STEM economy. In other words more mastery based education, or as it’s been sold to us, competency based education (CBE). Why CBE? Skilled workers. Skilled in STEM, that is.

Is the Agenda surviving? Absolutely! In fact, President Trump is a huge supporter of STEM because it means jobs. As we know, jobs means economy.

However, Warriors, the STEM economy is NOT for America, it’s for the global good and their economy.

U.S. Sec. DeVos has done an outstanding’ job of promoting STEM, too. Since STEM is global and she has seen it as her duty to sell our nation out to global mastery based education, you can be assured STEM will be popping up in current proposed DC legislation.

STEM In Legislation for 2018 And Beyond:

Warriors, right now, we are nearing the end of Fiscal 2018. On October 1, 2018, our government begins FY 2019.Currently,  STEM is woven into several of the FY 2019 Budget Bills. I shared with you, back in August, several of the ways in which, not only STEM would live on, but the top-down educratic control.

The biggest ways STEM will survive, as well as the educratic control are apprenticeships, CTE (Career Tech Education), College/Career Readiness, and P3s (public private partnerships).

partnership

STEM’s P3 Legislation:

Warriors, if you’ve not seen what a STEM P3 would look like, consider NASA.

More recently, there’s been concocted a lesser known legislative bill.
It’s HR 5119, simply titled The P3 Act. This Act was introduced back in February 2018 and hasn’t seen much action (if any) since then. However, what the Bill contains cannot be acted upon until there’s the money to bring its agenda to fruition!

hr5119

ICYMI: The researched evidence behind the Harvard/Pearson project turned educratic overreach. You can also learn more from this archived article.

So what does the P3 Act stand for, Warriors? After all, every DC Bill has some sort of acronym to it. “P3” in this instance stands for  ‘‘Partnerships for Progress and Prosperity Act’’. It’s a fancy way to ‘dress up’ the regular P3 meaning (public private partnership). The Bill has one sponsor and 5 co-sponsors and is currently in the U.S. House of Representative’s Education and Workforce Committee. Rep. Bill Foster from IL is the sponsor. If you look at Foster’s campaign donations the U.S. Dept. of Energy contributed the most money. If you look at the committees Foster serves the nation in, Energy in among them.
(*Note: in 2017, in Foster’s district, Joliet Junior College received a NSF Grant for STEM.)

Here’s how the P3s will play into STEM and ‘education’:
1) Requires the U.S. Dept. of Ed to award grants to LEAs (Local Education Agencies) for STEM, exclusively.
2) The grants MUST be used in the following ways:
a) to improve education in K-12 and higher education institutions
b) every awardee is required to  partner with a STEM business or employer
c) internships and apprenticeships are mandated to be included
d) development of STEM curricula and metrics
e) dual credit courses are mandated
f) tutoring/mentoring in STEM, especially for underrepresented student groups
g) STEM activities and events outside the schools and in the communities are mandated for teachers and students
h) after-school STEM and summer STEM programs
i) purchase of STEM resources for STEM instruction

The U.S. Dept of Education (in these STEM grants) will pay special attention to any LEA who promotes STEM for students/teachers; uses tech based content; pairs mentors/tutors with students struggling to meet STEM benchmarks; and/or targets low-cost or free lunch eligible students.

One last mandate from the P3 Act for STEM: all grant award ‘winners’ MUST match 50 % of their award. The fifty percent must be non-federal funds and can be in cash or ‘in kind’ (which means any type of support in exchange for work or other services like free food or free housing.
(*Note: cash received in this manner is non-taxable. In kind can be claimed as a tax write off by the giver, but not the receiver unless otherwise advised.)

workforcenochoice

Warriors, when you read this 8 page Bill (HR 5119), you’ll see the familiar educratic buzzwords/phrases like ‘rigorous’, ‘evidence based’, ‘engagement’ (especially in the classroom), and my personal ‘favorite’: “high quality research”. Now the irony of this entire Bill is that is based of RECOMMENDATIONS, not objective facts.

The Bill also cites the PISA (Program for International Student Assessment), which is geared for not only CCR (College/Career Readiness) aka: Common Core, but the OECD’s (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) workforce based global system of CBE (Competency Based Education).

OECD is where the horrible label of ‘human capital’ comes from.

Closing:

Warriors, if ever there’s a time to be bucking the system it’s now. Those chilling words (at least to me) about the STEM people for a STEM nation are playing out right under our noses. Are we so stuffed with compliance and apathy, we don’t smell the stench of agenda? The agenda TAKES our freedom! The agenda erodes our education! formerusa

CCSS/UNESCO Ideology, Anyone?

It’s a great day to be alive and fighting for the RIGHT kind of education for our students, don’t you think? I do! As an Anti Common Core Warrior, I have the privilege of working with some of the MOST patriotic, dynamic, and dedicated people I have ever met.

Warriors, just because the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is now law is NOT the time to back down from our fight for our students. It is a time to step up and fight for our nation!

What do I mean? We have seen time and time again, evidence which points out in great detail how anti-American our textbooks, on-line courses, and everything related is becoming. We also know, that the importance of being ‘globally competent’, or a global citizen is also gaining momentum via the Common Core Standards, the College and Career Readiness Standards, or any of the other names the alignment is hiding behind. How? The United Nations as well as the UNESCO overreach into American education (at all levels and available to every school choice).

The Project Veritas (PV) folks broke their 3rd anti CCSS video earlier today and has helped expose the anti-American ideology in our schools!! (See: http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/01/21/exclusive-former-pearson-exec-reveals-anti-american-agenda-in-common-core-on-constitution-guns-christianity/)
We have seen countless other examples of this via social media well before this breaking news. However, their news is HUGE for the reasons below:
1) This 3rd video also verifies the twisted AP (Advanced Placement) U.S. History rewriting!
2) The importance of the PV undercover work is we now have people who are responsible being identified! We can now have the face and name of someone who has helped the CCSS Machine ruin our educational system. Why is this important? Testimony!!
3) It also absolutely confirms all the evidence we have seen in our students’ homework. I am so thrilled the undercover reports are surfacing. Please, share with everyone! You can visit Project Veritas’s website to gain access to the first 2 videos as well, those took on the textbook money making scheme. (See: http://www.projectveritas.com/)

All this said, we know that there is even more anti-American/global citizen out there in our society, most especially our schools. Here is what I found recently….

2003 Ideology?!:

What if I told you I found some global ideology from before CCSS’s supposed implementation date? Recently, as I was preparing for a very important presentation before a great group of concerned citizens, I got out my CCSS filled collection of textbooks (would you believe parents are still asking to see textbooks so they can know what is in them?). Among them is the Teacher guide, Student Textbook, and the complimenting Workbooks for a NC (North Carolina) specific Social Studies book titled “Horizons”. This particular set I have was published in 2003.  But that is not why I had the set. It was the publisher’s name! I knew, from all the years of research that Harcourt (as in Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt) was a sold out provider of Common Core Standards. (See PV’s first video revelation from one of their, now, ex-employees).

Most of us have assumed most textbooks prior to about 2008 were ‘safe’ (as far as indoctrinating materials tied to the CCSS). So, image my surprise when I stumbled upon what you see below:
IBPYP

Wait a minute, Lynne..You said ‘CCSS indoctrination’, the picture says ‘UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) ideology’! Are these related? Are they the same?  Let’s find out. In a set of points, I can point you to how the CCSS and the UNESCO ideology and the indoctrination have been with us longer than we first thought. (Please let me state I am certainly not the first one to discover the connections, nor will I be the last. It just seems fitting to show that as early as 2003, our states were laying foundations of alignment we didn’t see before us.)

*Notice the textbook uses “Citizenship”, “Common Good”, and “Democratic Values” as the main points. In an Constitutionally honoring education, our students would know that America is a Republic, NOT a democracy!

*Notice the name of the school in the feature box, ‘Farmington Woods Elementary’. It is a public school in the Wake County (NC) Public School System (one of the most CCSS friendly school systems in the entire state). See the website,  http://www.wcpss.net/farmingtonwoodses

farmingtonwoods

*Notice the IB-PYP (International Baccalaureate-Primary Years Programme (International English spelling)

*As an UNESCO created school, IB-PYP Programs are for students ages 3 to 12 years. As a globally minded school, any ideology will be UNESCO in nature, not American! There is a 3 step goal cycle the IB-PYP has. It is called the IB Global Action Cycle. ‘Reflect, Choose, and Act’.

*According the the IB Schools website, the IB-PYP prepares students, 3 years to 12 years, to become active, caring, and, lifelong learners. They are to respect themselves as well as others. That all sounds nice, right? The website goes on to explain what this respect means. (paraphrasing is mine) Being involved in the world. Of course the goal of all this ideology is to educate the ‘whole child’.

If your school wishes to become part of the UNESCO led IB schools, your school must be authorized to do so. The IB-PYP education framework is as follows: Knowledge, Concept, Skills, Attitudes, and Actions. The 5 rigor pillars of an international education. Want to learn more? See: http://www.ibo.org/programmes/primary-years-programme/curriculum/

If you want to see the UNESCO’s vision for 21st Century Learning:

If you want to see the American arm of these visions, see:
http://www.unesco.org/new/en/education/worldwide/education-regions/europe-and-north-america/

*Looking at the UNESCO’s arm which oversees curriculum development that impacts America, it goes back 90 years. Which explains the 2003 UNESCO/IB ideology in the textbook, “Horizons”. (See: http://www.ibe.unesco.org/en)

*That ‘lifelong learning’? Which we have heard the CCSS Machine grind out in so many ways? Not only will you find it in the UNESCO and IB ideology, but in the new ESSA law (Every Student Succeeds Act), too.  It will continue to be a banner buzz phrase in ‘College and Career Readiness’, too! How will this connect to the ESSA? Informal or non-formal learning via educational facilities,  learning settings and their education related services, groups,  and/or activities. (Think museums, libraries, etc.) See the UN’s research:

Answering the Question:
So are the CCSS indoctrination and the UNESCO ideology the same or related? It is my researched evidence which points to a simple, ‘yes’. Now, a more in-depth answer is also from evidence based research, in a multitude of ways they are related. (after all Gates signed a 2004 agreement with UNESCO to create a one world curriculum. See: Berit Kjos’s publication, Common Core: A Global Education) You might be interested in this previously published article of mine where you can find the global education declarations America is now embracing, thanks to some degree of the UN. https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/17/tech-thursday-global-day-for-education/

Another part of the answer, of course, is definitely revealed in the Project Veritas video released today. While I offer my evidence as a compliment to the Project, it is in no way to supercede their awesome work. I, like you, my Anti CCSS Warriors, am so excited to see what else the Veritas folks can capture on video/audio!

WYBI: “STEM to STEaM”, Ties to Common Core, Pt. 1

Maybe you've heard of STEM, but have you heard about STEM to STEaM?
Maybe you’ve heard of STEM, but have you heard about ‘STEM to STEaM’?

Some months ago, I shared with you that I’d dug into how STEM and Common Core are related. It’s not a popular subject. Why? Most folks don’t want to see how the two are directly hinged together. However, if we’re going to effectively FIGHT CCSS, we must know all the places it lurks!
Did you know the CCSS Machine has rolled out yet another ‘new’ portion of education reform? Yes, it’s called “STEM to STEaM”. In the first of multi day installments, I’ll share with you what else I’ve been able to uncover.

“STEM to STEaM”, What Does It Mean?:

We know STEM is short for “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math”. Those supportive of Common Core aren’t content (are they ever?) to leave education alone. No, it appears a constant barrage of ‘new’ standards is always upon us. So what does the “STEaM” portion of the above phrase mean? “Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math”. I’ve also shared with you, in the past, how the Arts have already sold out to Common Core via the National Arts Common Standards (see:
a) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/02/15/rmt-ccss-hits-the-sour-notes/ and b) https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/12/rmt-national-humanity-common-core-style/ )

Enter CCSS: a Vehicle for Education Reform:

According to the publication I’ve referred to many times, “Common Core: A Global Education” by Berit Kjos, the roots of what we now know as CCSS began about 100 years ago. Then, in 2004, an agreement between Bill Gates and UNESCO was entered into. The purpose? Global curriculum. (See: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/blog/?p=13825) Contrast those few facts with these following nuggets I found in the PCAST (President’s Council of Advisors for Science and Technology) Report from Sept. 2010.

1) What we know as STEM now, in their report, came alive in the 1980s and its purpose was to have aligned and benchmarked education standards. 2) To ensure this happened, as well as securing a way for the other agenda items PCAST had laid out, it was decided the BEST way to accomplish ALL of this was by inserting them into the CCSS as it was just getting off the ground. (remember, this report is from 2010, and the Common Core was just being unleashed in the States via Race to the Top funding.) To access the 2010 Report:
pcast-stemed-report

Enter STEM, the Driver of the Vehicle:

Using this same Report, let’s look at some of the exact words from page 12. These 5 items will lay out the agenda hiding behind what we’ve always had in education: science and math. We’ve also had engineering and technology. But, when you take these subjects and filter them through national standards, the ‘engine’ begins to grind down to a halt.

STEM-capable citizenry, a STEM-proficient workforce, and future STEM experts, the Nation must focus on two complementary goals: We must prepare all students, including girls and minorities who are underrepresented in these fields, to be proficient in STEM subjects. And we must inspire all students to learn STEM and, in the process, motivate many of them to pursue STEM careers.”

It is on this same page and the ones immediately following that you will see the Council’s plan unfold: use the Common Core Standards, train STEM certified teachers who will be the ones teaching STEM subjects, create more federal programs, initiatives that encompass the entire community (such as “Inspire”, “21st Century Community Learning Centers”, etc.)
Here’s an excerpt: “Stronger leadership, coherent strategy and greater coordination are essential to support innovation in K-12 STEM education. Toward this end, the Federal Government should (i) create new mechanisms, with substantially increased capacity, to provide leadership within each of the Department of Education and the National Science Foundation; (ii) establish a high-level partnership between these agencies; (iii) establish a standing Committee on STEM Education within the National Science and Technology Council responsible for creating a Federal STEM education strategy; and (iv) establish an independent Presidential Commission on STEM Education, in conjunction with the National Governors Association, to promote and monitor progress toward improving STEM education.” Funding for STEM (the federal government has earmarked billions of dollars)  and the number of programs connected (at least 220) is staggering. The public private partnerships participating, not only in the classrooms, but in the lesson planning, STEM related contests, community outreach programs, and including even our public libraries,  all are part and parcel of the federal plans for our students. Something else  you need to know about STEM: ‘The National Science Foundation is the only federal agency whose primary mission includes supporting education across all fields of science and engineering. As such, funding for STEM education at the NSF impacts not only, but also the entire federal STEM education effort.’ See the resource for the Funding: stemfund

The question I’m sure you have by now is ‘why’? Why is all this attention being paid to STEM? In a short and simple phrase, ‘the American greater good’. From the viewpoint of the Common Core, ‘the global economy’ and ‘being career and college ready’.

By participating in STEM programs( which are made available to every educational choice out there: public, private, charter, parochial, homeschool), we are in essence allowing an agenda that is not our own to be a part of our family, our school, our curriculum and lesson plans. STEM extends well beyond 12th grade and does, in fact, present itself in community colleges, proprietary post secondary schools, public and (some) private universities and colleges. In short, as we’ve seen with CCSS, if the school receives federal money, STEM is there.

Federal, top down control of any choice in education is not only wrong, it’s illegal. In case you missed it, not only is the Dept. of Education mixed in this, so is the NGA (National Governors Association)…half owner of the CCSS copyright.

Here's the CCSS pipeline. The NGA and the CCSSO have ensured our students are put through this. Notice the similarities to the STEM one above?

RMT: New Education?

When did 'reinventing education' become code for Common Core?
When did ‘reinventing education’ become code for Common Core?

I don’t know about you, but being the researcher on Common Core Standards that I’ve become, I get quite a bit of email. So, imagine my surprise when I received the following excerpt, “Join us for this two-day opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues from the school, library, museum, and home learning worlds–and anyone interested in reinventing how we think about and facilitate learning.” After this there was the usual kind of details one expects when you get an invitation. Of course, at the bottom of the email are the links to learn more about those who are presenting and have provided resources before hand. One of those links will serve as our Riddle on this “Riddle Me This” Sunday. Will it lead us to Common Core? Let’s find out!

“What IF?…”

The riddle above (at least for the conference I was receiving this invitation to) was completed by the phrase “360 Learning” So the entire ‘riddle’ would read “What IF…? 360 Learning”. The main goal of the conference..ahh, my anti CCSS friends, why according to this invitation, it’s ‘reinventing education’!

“What If…360?”:

Website: http://www.whatif360.com/

The main feeling of the organization appears to be major change makers. Now, in certain situations, changes are fine, BUT with all the current ‘reinventing of education’ going on, I’m not sold that this organization’s any different. So, let’s continue dig into them, shall we?

Their philosophy in the classrooms for K-12: “Effective education relies on student-centered approaches and blurring the lines between learner and educator.”

Their philosophy in the classrooms for post-secondary: “encouraging people to take a more liberal arts approach to life into a movement empowering a global community to share their ideas, create networks of communication, and collaborate in designing actions.”

Pardon me, but does any of this sound the least bit familiar to CCSS?

Staffers and their ties to Common Core?

According to 360’s website 3 smiling faces comprise the staff. Here’s what I was able to find on them. (to see the staff’s 360 stuff: http://www.whatif360.com/about/ (scroll to the bottom)

The leaders of 360, reformers for education..especially CCSS style.
The leaders of 360, reformers for education..especially CCSS style.

Felicia Rateliff is 360’s ‘woman behind the curtain’. Her Common Core past, thanks to Linkedin features her work in MO for pushing for CTE (Career Tech Education) via Perkins Funding. She also spent 7 years writing CTE Curriculum (I’ve published several posts about CTE and the Common Core post secondary ties). (to see Ms. Rateliff’s CC past, https://www.linkedin.com/in/feliciarateliff)

Matthew Murrie is 360’s ‘leader of doers’. His CC present includes ‘edupreneurship’. If you’d like to see all the others interested in ‘edupreneurship’, head to Twitter and search for the term. You’ll be ‘pleased’ to know that Common Core Ed Tech is a big follower. (see: https://twitter.com/hashtag/Edupreneurship?src=hash) You can also see Mr. Murrie’s Huffington Post “What If?” entry: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/matt-murrie/what-if-we-embraced-edupr_b_3342677.html *Note his shout out to the global initiatives and education.

Audrey Bellis is 360’s ‘program developer’. Her CC involvement includes advocating for STEM to STEaM reform. (see: http://community.good.is/steam) *Note: if you’ve not heard about the STEM to STEaM education reform, stay tuned.  I can tell you the ties between CCSS, STEM and STEaM are no accident. If you didn’t know  STEM is the main point and CCSS is the vehicle, with STEaM as an add-on, then be sure to see the post I wrote back in late 2014 called “PCAST, STEM and Common Core”.

As you watch this short clip, consider asking ‘what if’? NOW knowing how supportive their work is towards CCSS.

Others Involved:

The 360 group isn’t the only one who will be at the conference I was invited to. There are at least 2 others. One is titled “Reinventing Learning”, the other “The Learning Revolution”.

Closing:

Well, I think the answer to our riddle today has been fairly easy to discover, do you?
Here’s a riddle I’d like to pose to all those who are so bent on re-imagining education via CCSS…What say we go away from illegally crafted, developmentally inappropriate education and get serious about the people involved instead of the nebulous cloud of global good?
