Know Thy Worth?

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, we’re quickly approaching a new school year (2017-18). It’ll be another year of contention for those who are dead-set against the CCSS Machine

Over the summer, many of us have continued to chip away at the facade of how ‘local’ ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is and the true identity of the global, UN (United Nations) grasp over our federal government’s adherence to the modern education reform.

Would You Know What the Global CCSS Machine Values Are?

Warriors, did you know that the UN has ROI (Return on Investment) formulas for education? These formulas, of course will include assessements (tests), teaching, and other factors. However, it’s not the student who will come out the winner, but the businesses AND economy which will reign supreme in education. Why? Workforce based, skilled citizens. If the UN has such, we can ‘bet the bank’ the USA does, too.

Needed Background Information:

For example, back in 2014, I wrote an article about a local meeting which laid out the intersecting of the working world, politicians, and education. Oh, and, yes, the business world was represented by the State level Chamber of Commerce. Look below for a sample of what I shared then.

parentproblemTo see and read the rest of the article, go here. If you’ve not seen how the P3s (public private partnerships) influence your local education system, visit here.

Warriors, we must remember, P3s are increased in power, thanks to ESSA. Globally speaking, their power is enormously strong, as well. The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) provide the way for this across the globe.

Here, in America, a series of federally passed laws provide the way. Chief among them are: ESSA, WIOA, HEA, the STEM Act, and many more. If you missed how the P3s are running higher education as a ‘return on investment’ for the economy, check out my 2015 article where you’ll see your students on a wheel.

Also, Warriors, keep in mind, the big corporations are not the only investors in ‘education’. The SBA (Small Business Administration) is knee-deep in the alignment/investing ploy, too. These will be the more ‘local’ overreaches you see today.

Warriors, we know of plenty of American career tracking, but what about the international career tracking and/or skill based tests? Are there any? Of course!
Back in March 2017, I shared with you the ties between American and the PIAAC (Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). This test measures our adults (and thus, teachers, education leaders) and their ‘value’ to the economy.

Your Global Worth?

So, how does all this tie to the UN’s SDGs?! Watch the short video below. It features a school leader (early 2017) explain ‘rigor’ in the global scheme of things. While I listened to this man, I heard so many words with very little meaning. (A classic tool of the CCSS Machine) This school is an American school (Ranney School in NJ. It’s an  independent school which is a UN partner school. Ranney School also is con-joined with Monmouth University as another UN partner school.

Warriors, did you catch the ‘innovation’ plugs? Did you hear the ‘what’s taught’? The Tool Kit for teaching the SDGs is full of how to teach to manipulate values, beliefs, and attitudes. (*Note, when you access the article, you can also get to the entire 142 page Tool Kit. Simply click on the phrase ‘tool kit’ in the section beginning with “From 2002..”)

basic
How did I find out about the NJ schools and their UN partnerships? Their project is being tracked in real time by the UN itself! If you’d like to see the entire results, go here.
Be sure to look for the ‘measured outcomes’ of the project.

ranneymonmouth

If you’d like to see more about this from Ranney’s media, I urge you to access it here.
If you’d like to see and learn more about the Global Citizen Signature Program which is also a part of the Ranney School, click here. Look below for a screen shot:

GCsignatureIs the Ranney School exclusive in the US as a UN partner? Hardly. It’s simply an example for this article. According to the UN’s SDG Initiative Tracking website, there are 524 other global education partnerships in progress right now. If you’d like to see them, find them here. However, remember, Warriors, education is the preferred ‘change agent’ so the alignment in education will be in ALL 17 goals for SD (Sustainable Development), not simply one.

A Big Clue:

As far as anyone’s worth in the current education takeover/reform? It’s not what you know, it’s how you work. Listen to the job forecast in the video below:

Warriors, you can access the article which is to accompany this video. You’ll want to make note of their mention of the U.S. Dept. of Labor (and others). Remember, EVERY Cabinet level agency is in on the CCSS Machine’s workforce shift. Why? As an active SDG Resolution signing country, we must shift education. Look below at the website I found on the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s website:

Find the Handbook here.

How the OCED* (Organization for Cooperation in Economic Development) rates ‘returns on investment’ in education. This 2009 Report looks at student outcomes and the cost of educating people. (*Note: OCED is a partner via the Global Compact of the UN.)

This un-dated World Bank “education return on investment” shows how education and growth for economics should be a hand-in-hand process.

UNICEF (a part of the UN), in their 2015 Report, stress a hefty return on investment via education of up to 30%.

How the USA rates ‘returns on investment’ in education can be found on the website “U.S. Global Leadership Coalition”.

Closing:

Back in 2016, MarketWatch’s website suggested we ‘moneyball’ education. Maybe they read ESSA better than those who voted on it. Moneyballing is exactly what will be happening more and more in American classrooms of all ages. We can also expect those bankrolling education will have many strings in the way education is conducted. Expect more of a business, not a labor of love, Warriors.

Do the better ‘thing’, the ‘smarter than the global-UN/US thing’: Don’t send your students back to school! Hug them instead, talk with them about their TRUE value and worth. It is beyond ANY amount of money!

My State In The W_ _ _ d

Hello, Anti Fed Ed, Anti CCSS, and Anti Global Ed Warriors! If you noticed, I’ve added a ‘new’ type of Warrior to the list.

Since I began researching the shift in education (2009), I knew from one of Tom DeWeese’s articles that the end game for education in America was globally tied.

It was, in fact, this particular article and another one (by Cathy Duffy) about the push in America for national standards, which bothered me enough to begin researching!

As you know, since then, I’ve found plenty of evidence to support BOTH of these well respected citizens’ findings.  Since I began blogging (2014), the flood gates to support even more evidence to the global/national standards has come my way. I’ve done my best to share all that I can with you, so that, all of us are as informed as we can be in our War Vs. the Core.

You might be wondering about the title of this particular article. It’s short for “My State in the World”.

Warriors,  here are some documents I’ve found which point directly to the facts that education in your State hasn’t been American for some time now. Between our Governors and Public Depts of Education/Instruction, the UN/UNESCO shift has been in place since the mid 1980s! What follows is an in-depth, information packed article.

Take your time in reading and researching what’s in your State. It’s imperative!

The Files in Timeline Form:

(1985): So far, this is the oldest evidence I have found. It’s from MN.
The Report is one created by a global education task force that had been set up to prepare the way for a K-12th grade “Global Education Decade”  beginning in the 1999-2000 academic year. By starting this gigantic ball rolling in 1985, all the framwork would be in place by 1990. It is in this Report titled “Minnesota in the World”, that you’ll see the ’21st Century needs’ rhetoric popping up.

Let me be clear, you will NOT see the UN/UNESCO mentioned in this Report. However, the imprint is there. Who you will see as an influential force behind the shift for MN, is the (then) Dean of the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota (Harlan Cleveland). Cleveland wrote a book called “The Knowledge Executive”.
The “MN in the World” Report includes excerpts. Here’s a screen shot:

harlan

How was Cleveland tied to the UN? Google Books includes his biography. He led post WWII rebuilding efforts for the UN. Google’s bio also reveals Cleveland was a top leader in the Marshall Plan; that he was appointed by President Kennedy as an Assistant Secretary of State to the UN.

President Einsenhower tagged Cleveland as a NATO official. You will also see his ties to the Aspen Institute and more. (*Note: if you’d like to see how the modern day Aspen Institute and others are directing the States to the UN/global shift via ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), find it here.)

Not only will Cleveland be one to note in the MN Report, but also,  former U.S. Dept. of Education Secretary, T. H. Bell. Look below for his proclamation.

bell Mr. Bell was appointed by President Reagan as the Sec. of Education. He is the same Bell who headed up the Committee which produced the 1983 “Nation At Risk” report.
Bell also was the National Commission of Education (housed then in the U.S. Dept. of Interior) before the creation of the U.S. Dept. of Education.

We can ‘thank’ the 1983 version of “Nation At Risk” for the national assessments increase as well as the use of the word ‘accountability’ as a call for more federal dollars to flow into our States. Thanks to ESSA, the ‘accountability’ means more control from the U.S. Dept. of Education, NOT less.

(1987): Look below, the book emphasized is not available in its complete form, on-line.
(*Note the underlined participants.)

1987book

(Entering the 1990s):
From the UNESCO on-line library,  you’ll find documents dating back to the mid 1990s for the shift in technical/vocational education, which has been rebranded as “CTE” or ‘Career Tech Education’ here in the United States. I found the document where ‘lifelong learning’ is described as a bridge to the future. It’s from 1999.  Look below for a modern rendition of such a ‘bridge’:

hebridge
Then, factor in this OECD (Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development) document’s proclamation below:

lifelong

Warriors, this particular Report (as seen above) was published in 2007. But look at the original year OECD released ‘lifelong learning’..1996. As far as I have been able to find, no on-line version of the 1996 original book is available. You can access it via several university libraries, however. Here’s a description as to why it is vital we find it.

(1999):  NC’s educational shift to globalization appears to have taken place around this time.

(From 2000 to currently):
(2001):
UNESCO’s  5 year review of the 1996 ‘beginnings’ for ‘lifelong learning’.
OCED’s 5 year review of the 1996 ‘beginnings’.

(2006): NC’s Governor creates the first Center for 21st Century Skills in the nation.
See below:
NConeworld
To see Report One (2007) and Report Two (2007), click on each year. (To access my previous article on NC’s Global Readiness, click here.)

(2007):
A Western Michigan University look at ‘lifelong learning’ by Professor Emeritus Bosco.
Look below:
bosco
In the modern educational reform you’ll find Professor Bosco is an investigator for the CoSN (Consortium of School Networking), as well. CoSN is a big part of the CCSS Machine. I wrote about their part in “The Redefining Ready” Initiative in 2016.

(2009):
This NY based resource was originally begun in 2006 and updated to this form in 2009.
What’s interesting in this resource, is that it  pointed out that the US federal level of education looked first to New York and Massachussettes for educational policies. There are several other very interesting pieces of evidence in this resource as well. For example, each President’s involvement in education is included from 1945-2009.
NYresource

Observations from this resource:
What were the educational policies from NY and MA back in the 60s?  I have no clue as to why those policies were worthy enough to become nationally known or used. I do question how much of those policies helped shape the 1965 ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). I do question why our federal government would choose the 2 States where we can find today, some of the biggest CCSS Machine member organizations/supporters.

I was able find that NY amended its educational law to reflect 21st Century learning and global education back in 1999. (*Note: scroll down to the text portion of the page.)

What about MA? I found a thesis where the history of MA’s shift to global education is laid out. The State specific information begins on page 48. You’ll find UNESCO’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), The Asia Society (the State of NC is knee-deep in a relationship with them), and so much more. However, look below at what the author found are the ‘must-haves’ for global education to survive:

maglobe

Warriors, have you seen these 5 elements where you live? If your State is seeing a shift in Teacher training for global education, start on page 36. It’s all laid out.

(2013): NC’s Global Education Task Force Report reveals STEM is one of the biggest tools to shift education, not for academics, but for economic purposes.

(2014):  Harvard University (the very same pro CCSS/CTE, Pearson Publishing partnership which created Pathways to Prosperity and thus helped create Career Pathways for education), pumped out this Report on global education.

Interestingly enough, some of the ‘expert solutions’ for aligning education? Increase apprenticeships, create more charter schools, and, cause a unity between government, education, and, teachers.
(*Note: one of the featured experts in the above Report, has an open page of resources on the MA Assoc. for School Superintendents for MA’s G21 (Global21) Project. All kinds of resources can be found there.)

(2015): Washington Times Reporter Bethany Blankley reveals the Qatar Foundation participation in the global shift in education. See the screen shot below:

More vital resources for your Anti Warrior’s information:
a) Berit Kjos’s timeline of Common Core throughout the world.
b) My 2016 international data mining article.
c) Charlotte Iserbyt’s “Exposing the Road to Global Ruin” You Tube series (begin with the short introduction video at the 1:38 time mark and follow the connected videos.)
d) Diana Anderson’s excellent compiled article on global education.

Closing:

Warriors, I am, by no means claiming to have the authoritative voice on the shift in global education. I believe Charlotte Iserbyt, Diana Anderson, and many others before me have that. However, when we use their roots and add the information as it surfaces, we help create a strong force of information that answers many questions.
We also can see many things which have been played down by our leaders, or, worse, left out completely. We also can use this information to form new ways in which to protect our students AND our nation.

I urge you, look in your State’s legislative archives for when your “State and the World Project” began. It may be under a slightly different name, but the signs ARE there.

Closing Out April

My fellow Warriors Against Federally-run education, April 2017 is almost a thing of the past for us.

During this month, we’ve seen several States turn in their ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Plans for approval by the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary, Betsy DeVos.
To see our States, yet again, bow to the Feds is angering. ESSA, was to give the States BACK their power to decide education, NOT,  once again, to seek a federal employee’s permission.

Warriors, we knew, from researching ESSA, the fallacy of State-led education. So what will May 2017 bring in this area of our War Vs the Core? Hopefully, a re-awakening! There are State level bills out there designed to help create ‘locally led’ education. Will they survive? Time will tell.
**************************************************************
In April, we’ve seen many of our fellow Warriors slandered by pro-CCSS Machine member groups. I salute these Special Warriors because they are consistently seeking the truth, finding it, and sharing it. All the while encouraging our DC leadership to keep the promises to rid our nation of ‘Common Core’.
However have you noticed? ‘Common Core’, in name is gone. Yet, in every other aspect of education, ‘Common Core’ has survived via name changes used in the hopes to throw all of us off the track. Warriors, we have learned and shared every ONE of those name changes. No amount of opportunistic word play is going to deter us, is it?!

**ESSA’s name change ‘winner’ is “Challenging State Academic Standards”.  Yeah, right..until you read the fine print, then you’ll find those ‘challenging’ standards are the same old, failing standards they’ve been since 2009/2010.**
************************************************************************
Think of it this way, Common Core’s name changes can be related to the lump of coal which is turned into a stunning diamond. The lump of course, is the ugly version. The diamond is the version everyone desires.

Common Core by ANY name is ugly. It promises us diamond-like results, but has failed every single time, in spite of ‘the-name-of-the-month’.

Archives To Use:

During April, you also know that I’ve been through quite a bit personally, and in my educational activism. I’ve not written as much, and when I have censorship via social media has succeeded somewhat in muting my voice. To that end, I’m embedding those particular articles below. Each are very, very important to read and share.

1) Calling out our leadership on the stance of education, is something in May, we must continue.

2) For our States to truly be free, they must learn to end relationships with those groups, companies, and, partnerships which are NOT being honest in seeing each State do its best where education is concerned. These groups, like the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers), are, in fact, helping enable each State to become a federally mandated and restrained environment. The goal as to WHY groups like the CCSSO have for your State and mine? Workforce based education for a global economy.

3) In May 2017, I hope you find at least 5 other folks who are as ‘Fed Up’ as we Warriors are! Share this with them so they can hold their Representatives and Senators accountable, while they learn some of the names ‘Common Core’ hides behind (example: CTE, Career Tech Education).

What’s Ahead For The Diva:

I’m honored to share that I’m researching some special projects for my MO Warriors, as well as those of you in OH seeking to end “Common Core”.

I’ll keep writing when and where I can, both here and as a guest columnist on the Patriot Institute, where I address education exclusively.

I’ll be once again, cranking up the media apperances with the Negdog Network. I hope to continue other appearances as well, like the Women on the Wall calls.

The very special project I’ve been included in (and took me to Wisconsin), is due out very soon. I cannot wait to share that video based educational activist resource with you! Watch the Common Core Diva Facebook page and my Twitter (same name), or check out the U.S. Parent Call to Action Facebook page for the debut of this 4 part series.

Warriors, if there is anything I can assist you or your State with, please do not hesitate to let me know. I’ve love to meet each of you on your home turf someday, and maybe, soon. The fight isn’t over, my freinds. We’ve got a lot left to do and a short window of time to complete it in!!  You can count on me to be by your side.

superb

Proclaiming “Superb”, Not S.O.S.

Warriors Against the Core, forgive me, but I must speak up. We’ve been together for quite awhile. Day in and day out, we’ve continued to fight for saving our students, teachers, and nation from the egregious CCSS Machine.

We’ve survived federal legislation hearings, social media blitzes, local and state level witnessing opportunities, and the heart sinking moments when those almighty Congressional votes didn’t go as We the People wanted them to go (references: ESSA’s passage and Dr. King’s confirmation). Yet, for the most part we’ve stuck together. Win or lose, we have had each other’s backs.

Since the election, we’ve seen our nation divide between ‘lovers and haters’; between ‘champs and chumps’. However, when the Trump Transition Team announced a short list for the U.S. Dept. of Ed Secretary, it appears a division is among us, as Warriors.

My fellow Moms and Dads; Patriots and Citizens. THIS IS EXACTLY HOW THE CCSS MACHINE will advance their agenda!

While the entire Anti CCSS and Fed Ed Warrior group is nation-wide, there’s no way each and every one of us will agree on just who should have the education reins of this nation.

Depending on where we are in our knowledge of all things Common Core, we may each feel there’s a specific person who would be the best for the job of overseeing the Ed.

However, before I go on, please remember, Ed oversees early learning (birth to PreK), K-12, and Colleges, Universities, and Career Tech Education schools. Thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), HEA (Higher Education Act), and all the connecting laws, the CCSS Machine has almost completely aligned our nation to a CBE (competency based education).

If we are SO opposed to federally led education, why would we, as the MOST knowledgeable on this illegally based education reform even be satisfied with the Transition Team’s choices? Have we become so resigned that we are willing to take one more elected official at face value?

Why are we not doing all we can to suggest names of those truly on our side in this War?

Are we willing to rubber stamp other establishment choices?

If we truly peel back the layers behind all the candidates on that short list, you’ll find that there ARE connections back to the CCSS Machine in some way. Why are we not being the Warriors/Patriots and bucking this establishment?

Isn’t that what We wanted? We should be making every opportunity to influence this Team of Leaders on those Warriors for our children who have a proven, 100% vested interest in our future generation, not in an agenda.

It is not only possible to find such candidates, it is imperative! Some of the most SUPERB candidates are those who’ve been fighting this for longer than most of us; who’ve dug into the trenches right by your side; who’ve spoken out or up at countless meetings, seminars, interviews, etc.; who’ve openly dedicated their lives to education as it should be.

These type of anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors are the ones I would go into battle with any  day. They are not just great Warriors, they are SUPERB Warriors.
Some more than qualified Warriors that I’ve been contacted about:
Dr. Peg Luksik, Dr. Duke Pesta, Anita Hoge, Diana Anderson, Dr. Gary Thompson, Charlotte Iserbyt, Donna Gardner, and Dr. Pat Huff. While they are well known on our side of this War, why have We not uplifted them to the Transition Team? After all to beat the system, you have to offer more than the system.

Just consider this, my followers, if we do end up with one of the ‘top choices’ the establishment has tagged, will this be enough to change the system? I doubt it. If we desire only greatness, it won’t be enough. Not when the stakes for our children ‘are through the roof’ important.

No, for American education to be free of the CCSS Machine, we must not only demand ‘superb’ people, we must strive for superb results.

Superb American education should be the goal of our War, not the same old stuff backed by the same old system for the same old ‘quasi-success’.

To have the superb education, we MUST not feed the Dept. of Ed, we must wipe it out. We must not feed the workforce based education marriage of the Depts. of Labor and Education. We must refuse to have the Dept of Health and Human Services use our students as ‘lab rats’. We must openly and often strike a blow to the CCSS Machine.

Helping further the misnomer of ‘quality education’ in America is none other than our current Administration. From the ‘love affair’ Congress is displaying for CTE to the President’s proclamation for “Education Week 2016”.

As I’ve shared with you, countless times with fact based evidence, our current Congress is chafing at the bit to make CTE a ‘saving grace’ for America. Does that sound superb?

Our current President is hell-bent on leaving office claiming how much he’s had to do with the educational success in America. Oh really?! As evidence has come along, we’ve seen just how sold out to the status-quo, aligned CCSS Machine education he’s supported and pushed along. Is that superb?

To see this “proclamation”: https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2016/11/10/presidential-proclamation-american-education-week-2016

If We have any hope of shifting education BACK from aligned to superb, we MUST rid our nation of the data mining geared for another person/company’s profit over a student’s benefit of knowledge and superbness:

workforceweb
While the 9 federal levels are easy to spot, look at the variety of other agencies which are not easy to identify as connected.

And this connected system that’s been in place since the early days of the current President’s service:

fededweb

Then, the global assessments, the lies about skills gaps and achievement gaps. The fallacies that the only way to teach is via a plugged-in computer instead of a dedicated and wonderful teacher, and yes, even the fallacies of school choice and education savings accounts.

Every bit of these things DETRACTS from superb citizens and FEEDS right into the U.N. Sustainable  Development Goals for educated workers in a global economy as a global citizen. They use our taxpayer dollars against us and open the door for micro-managing how we live our lives.

HOW is any of this SUPERB? How will any of this catapult America beyond all this ‘less than great’ education to one that is truly desired? Forget transition, we need TOTAL TRANSFORMATION.

Rather than back the establishment’s choices, why not have THEM back ours?!

No Enigma Here

It’s a new work week, Warriors. While I’m sure you’ve heard the news that once again, the voices of those who cherish freedom were ignored, know that we MUST fight on.

If you have not heard the news the American control of our internet is gone. Several credible media sources have shared this. So, I won’t beat the news over your head. I’m sure other anti CCSS Warriors have also given much time to research and writing on this particular event. However, the internet and all that goes with it are  DEFINITE players in education.
So, what am I adding to the research/information?  Please check it out below.

Happening Now or Has Happened Not Too Long Ago:

I’ve previously shared with you about the White House led “Educate to Innovate”. Rather than share that article here, I wanted for us to look at the Initiative now. Especially since it is at our President’s bidding that our internet is no longer ours.

This is from their website. To see more: http://www.educatetoinnovate.org/
A big clue to the CCSS Machine alignment is the NSF (National Science Foundation).
If you’ve missed any of what I’ve dug up on them, just search the blog for them. You’ll find out just how sold out this government entity is.

ICANN, Our New Internet Manager:

As I stated above, there’s lots of information out about ICANN ( Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). However, if you’ve not seen what ICANN does, here’s a short video about them.

While this may not sound to you like we’ve just lost our 1st Amendment freedom of speech, note that the capacity to neuter our voices has just ICANNeased (increased) tremendously!

So how will ICANN influence education? Look below:

I found this information on the ICANN Labs page. Guiding you through how great these 4 ‘innovation tracks’ is Chris Gift.

Who is Christ Gift? ICANN has a very brief bio: https://www.icann.org/profiles/chris-gift
I didn’t have much luck finding his previous internet related jobs.

What Else I Found:

Gates Foundation’s grant of $3,000,000.00 to the Education Superhighway, ES. ES has been busy helping try to sway the elections in November AS well as continue to align America’s schools to the internet.

International Data Mining Conference:

I also found the upcoming (Dec. 2016) International Data Mining Conference. Known as ICDM (IEEE International Conference on Data Mining). What is the IEEE (? That’s the world’s largest organization for technical engineers! Their main goal? Increasing the global digital footprint.  See: https://www.ieee.org/index.html

Below is a screen shot of the workshops already planned. I’ve given a very brief description of each workshop. Two things I noticed, when looking into each of these workshops. a) That each workshop casts an open call for ANYONE connected to data mining to submit research/influence opinions, etc. b) That each workshop has a committee of leaders, often who are representatives from the CCSS Machine. Look at how many of these will be used in education.

Happening 10/4/16:

The IEEE is using October 4, 2016 as the “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow” Day. Now, why did I put this AFTER the December Conference information? By you seeing WHAT IEEE/ICDM are doing, you can better arm your students on 10/4.
1) It’s a global day full of celebrating locations. Lots in the USA and many targeting girls.

Closing:

I leave you with a video I shot this past weekend. It’s not fancy, it’s not glamorous. It IS, however, important in light of the upcoming elections. We MUST use the season to inform others! We CANNOT afford to elect people who will help continue the handing over of our freedoms; aligning our education to fit the CCSS Machine; and harming our children!! We need leaders who will LISTEN to us. We also need leaders who wish to keep America, American.

Ed For Sale

Greetings Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors! The Weekend News is here! What can we learn from the CCSS Machine? In a short sentence: how the global education business market is growing.

A Recent Webinar:

Just a few days ago, I was among many who joined in a pro CCSS backed group’s webinar for how educational business/services can a) capitalize on the recent passage of (Every Student Succeeds Act, ESSA); b) go global with education; c) make big sales for their companies; and d) drive education as we know it straight down the tubes.

Which group was hosting? The Gates Foundation funded EdWeek, of course! What global educational consulting firm also joined the frey? The ISC (International School Consultancy). If you haven’t heard of ISC, they are based in the United Kingdom and are the oldest global education consulting group of their kind. Because of this, it was shared in the webinar, the ISC has the historical educational data to back why going global is a great thing for all of us. Among the nations attending this webinar, the most were from the U.S.A., while the next 2 biggest attendees were the U.K. and the United Arab Empire.

About 2 months ago, EdWeek launched its Marketplace, where educational business, services, and those seeking such, can get information. I was invited to join the Marketplace, so I could get all kinds of research. However, at $750.00, I decided to pass. Besides, why in the world would I support the Gates Foundation’s backed group by purchasing their research?

It was the Marketplace portion of EdWeek presenting in this webinar. According to Kevin (from Marketplace), the virtual store is where gaps of what K-12th education needs meet business providers. Thus a harmonious bridge is created. Aren’t we so lucky….Among some of the provisions are Next Generation Science Standards/Assessments, Data Mining tools, etc. Kevin also stated the ESSA is for business ‘a canary in a coal mine’ opportunity. WiseGeek.org says that for governments and businesses the phrase means a ‘harbinger of the future’. (See: http://www.wisegeek.org/what-does-it-mean-to-be-a-canary-in-a-coal-mine.htm)

According to one of the slides from the Webinar, Bill Gates has predicted the education businesses (especially digital) will increase by 50% or $1.1 billion dollars. Driving the sales? Ed Tech (supposedly higher quality education/more personalized learning/evidence based results based on proven technology)

What I Have Seen/Heard:

As one who has researched the stuffing out of the ESSA, I can tell you, the increased amount of P3s (public private partnerships), businesses/educational services will increase dramatically. LEAs (local education agencies) and SEAs (State Education Agencies) will be able to open their federally provided funds up to anyone offering any type of business/service which can be related to student success (aka: student outcomes, competency based mastery, college and career readiness, post-secondary readiness, and student achievement).

Warriors, we should NOT be the last to know this information! Why do I say this?
a) The EdWeek Research arm recently partnered with the National School Superintendent’s Association to conduct a study on ESSA friendly PD (Professional Development).  I have shared with you in the past how aligned to CCSS, the School Supers Association is.
b) a recent meeting I attended hosted by the North Carolina Dept. of Public Instruction was full of folks from P3s either imploring the DPI for ESSA federal funds or employing more people from those P3s (and new ones) for educational purposes! Among the most sought after? SEL (social emotional learning) My point? The pro side is wasting NO time in getting the message out. Since the state I live is in already hopping on the bandwagon, yours probably is too!

More We Need to Know From Both Hosts:

The CCSS/ESSA slanted Webinar also shared the following information:

1) Educational business and services are golden opportunities for America.
2) School leaders WANT more personalized learning (as based off Digital Promise research). (*Note from my research: Digital Promise is a huge portion of ESSA.)
3) With more personalized learning comes better data tracking via student CBE (competency based education) progress.
4) SC, MS, ND, KY, and KS lead the nation in ELL (English Language Learning) digital education content.
5) Professional Development for teachers is slowly embracing the digital shift.
6) OERs (Open Educational Resources) are popular with teachers now and are better aligned to the CCSS than previous resources. OERs also are a great business profit maker because your company can help purchasers save school funding.
7) The ESSA will give educational businesses not only more money, but give schools better accountability, too. (*Note from my research: ESSA’s main damaging points are the national assessments, the accountability of the States to the U.S. Dept. of Ed and the funding which unites all this.)
8) Non-academic education businesses/services will also have opportunities to cash in.
9) Consider all of the above as opportunities for experimentation in education, especially how our students/teachers are measured.
10) EdWeek is helping the gradual building of international education marketing and trends. In 2015, around $15.2 billion was made by those participating. ISC shared that the tuition market for profits is about $39 billion and will increase to near $90 billion by 2026. Fee based education is a huge portion of the global education aspect. All this means the global economy is very healthy and that enrollment population is increasing.
11) English is being considered the language of business, therefore the need for ELL alignment is paramount for globally recognized credentials. In the screen shot below, notice the EMEM (Engish-Medium Education Market). This is something we will see increase via ESSA and other moves.

iscglobal

12) Global education has 4 benefits, the top 2: labor/quality learning
13) Inclusion is a top need for those being globally educated. Globally educated students are best fed by curriculum which supports inclusion.
14) There are over 200 International School Associations.
15) UAE (United Arab Empire) leads the world in the most international schools.
16) Curriculum trends find that UK based resources and IB (International Baccalaureate) are among the most used. (*Note from my research: IB Curriculum is not only UN/UNESCO based, it’s main contributor is a noted leftist.)
17) ISC noted that the most measured global assessments they track are the IGCSE*, the IB Diploma Program, the PSAT and SAT, and the GCEA*. (*IGCSE stands for “International General Certificate of Secondary Education”.) The University of Cambridge developed this over 25 years ago. To learn more:
 http://www.cie.org.uk/programmes-and-qualifications/cambridge-secondary-2/cambridge-igcse/
(*GCE stands for General Certificate of Education; the GCEA, from what I can find refers to only one level of GCEs. There are GCE-As, GCE-A2 levels. Combined, the 2 levels have 31 career based tracks you can earn your Certificate in. There is also a GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education). There are 41 career based tracks available at the secondary level.)

Warriors, does this sound familiar?! Career Pathways, Career Clusters, Career Technical Education….all part of the CCSS Machine!! To see more about GCEs:

Achieving States

Anti CCSS Warriors, it is ‘Tech Thursday’, which means we take a look at the latest in Common Core beyond high school. If you have followed my blog long, you know I have connected the dots between the Common Core and Career Tech Education (CTE). If you are new to the blog, then know that, yes, there is an ‘adult version’ of Common Core aka College, Career Readiness.

CTE is embedded in the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014), the STEM Act of 2015 (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and the HEA of 2008 (Higher Education Act which will be re-authorized  in the near future). In December 2015, just a few days after ESSA was signed into law the HEA received an extension so that CTE funding could continue on until the HEA is re-authorized.

The Latest News:

In the screen shot above, you may not be able to see the date this Tweet was shared, but it was May 3rd. You can plainly see Achieve, Inc. is the group which sent this out. Achieve, Inc. is a huge member organization in the CCSS Machine (Common Core State Standards Machine). Much research has been conducted and shared about this fact. You can easily find the information, here on my blog, and elsewhere. For the remainder of this article, I will be focusing on what is the latest CTE news.

The website you will need: http://www.achieve.org/publications/how-states-are-making-career-readiness-count-2016-update

The partnership you should know about: Achieve, Inc. and Advance CTE. As with so many of the CCSS Machine organizations, they love to gather together and create these reports detailing their continued work in aligning education to workforce based learning, not academic prowess.  This one appears to be proud of this fact. Shameless, isn’t it?
We know what Achieve, Inc. is, but what, or who, is Advance CTE? It is the new name for the previously known NASDCTEc (National ASsociation of State Directors of Career Tech Education Consortium). To learn more from their website:
https://www.careertech.org/who-we-are (*Note: if you would like to learn what my research has proven out about NASDCTEc, use this link for all the articles:

CareerReadiness2016

The most need-to-know points of the Report:
1) Thanks to the ESSA, accountability requirements for the States must not only change, but include career readiness components. These components will be used as leverage by the federal government against the States. Here is an excerpt, “As states continue to evolve and implement their accountability and public reporting systems, they have an opportunity to select indicators that inform continuous improvement, guide decisions about resource allocation, inform policies, capture progress, and factor into accountability determinations. More specifically, through school-level public reporting on these indicators, states may make college- and career-ready (CCR) data more transparent, understandable, and useful to parents, educators, and policymakers. The indicators that states build into their accountability formulas may be used to differentiate and classify schools and districts for support and intervention and/or may be used as a way for schools and districts to earn bonus points or rewards for meeting specific benchmarks.”

2) Thirty-four States have been championed as ‘leaders’ in this field. How? By providing career-readiness indicators. Of the 34, 32 have anywhere between 1-6 career-readiness measures. Of the 34, only 20 have a bonus point/reward system in place for career-readiness.

statecteachieve3) The school reporting and information sharing mentioned in Point #1, includes undisclosed third parties. From Page 4, this excerpt, “These public reporting levers, in addition to third-party reports with school-level data hosted on the state’s website, are included in the counts below. States can strengthen reporting by disaggregating data further by student subgroups so as to shine a light on performance disparities that may be masked by “all students” reporting.”

4) The most popular career-readiness indicators? a) dual enrollment (which includes homeschool students, AP course students and IB students); b) post-secondary enrollment (which includes any citizen seeking a higher education); c) CTE courses (includes apprenticeships or work-based learning); and d) students earning industry credentials (again, any citizen involved in this)

In the screen shot below, SC is displayed as a leader in this indication system. Note the P3 (public private partnership) between education and business; the involvement of the SC Chamber of Commerce, and the use of WorkKeys; note the unabashed use of gold/silver/platinum in reference to people’s success.

SCCte
Why this should concern everyone, these levels of success are NATIONAL credentials and are designed with the mantra, ‘no credential, no job’! See my article:
 https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/03/tech-thursday-just-say-no-to-nocc/)

From an INTERNATIONAL credential standpoint, we should also note that there are 6 levels of success (colors are used). Since the agenda of the education reform where CCSS/CTE and career-readiness is geared for global citizens, education, economy, our anti CCSS Warrior radars should be in full use! See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/01/27/ftf-tuesday-iassc-universal-certification/

To see the WorkKeys promotional video where the mantra I mentioned is used:

5) In the Achieve, Inc./Advance CTE Report, page 7 will tell you the meta-indicators States are using. These will only increase as the ESSA implementation process marches on. In the following pages, be sure to look for the values placed on these, the denominators to be used in calculating rewards/bonuses.

6) Beginning on Page 11, the public data reporting is detailed. Then use the Appendices to learn the programs used.

Closing:

Warriors, as you can see, the education reform is not set aside for any ONE group of people. It is not exclusive to one educational choice, at present. As the ESSA, the WIOA, and the HEA are continued to be mandated, updated, and implemented in their full fashion, we will see choices in education reduced. We will see national and international adherence for workforce increased. What can we do? Inform those who need to know! Share this alignment agenda with those at the local level in education AND job creation. More than likely they only have the PRO side of the CCSS/CTE message.

‘Makeover’ for Workforce?

Back in late 2014, I shared with you the Workforce3One portion of the U.S. Dept. of Labor and how it ties to the U.S. Dept. of Education as well as the CCSS Machine. How? The Career Pathways, Career Tech Education (AKA: Career and Technical Education), and all the other workforce related tracks our students/teachers/schools are being placed in.

Today, we will look at what has been made over or is the process of being made over to continue the alignment to the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), the HEA (Higher Education Act), and any other related law. Workforce3One is sure to be involved!

The Previous Article:

Here is an excerpt from the 10/14 article, “Workforce3 One, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration (ETA), is an on-line interactive communications and learning platform designed to build the capacity of the Workforce Investment System. Members include the public workforce system and its strategic partners, such as employers, Federal agencies, community- and faith-based organizations, and educators. Workforce³One supplements other technical assistance provided by the Employment and Training Administration’s national and regional staff to build the capacity of the workforce investment system to successfully meet the employment needs of America’s workforce and employers.” ”

Other things revealed in the article include the CCSS Machine members involved, their financial backings and/or research studies. You will be able to learn how the Workforce3One uses schools for Career Pyramids, Ladders, Tracks, and/or Pathways. (This will include schools on all levels) You will find out how your local job/career centers are involved. Here is an excerpt to explain what I mean,Workforce 3 One is SO complete they have on-line tools for you to use to build your career..of course it will be aligned. The first one is the ‘CP’ or Competency Pyramid.”

See and read: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/30/tech-thursday-workforce-common-core-style/
Once you read it, share it! Once you learn which CCSS Machine members are involved, see what new steps they have taken to help make over our workforce based education reform.

Another Vitally Connecting Article:

In January 2015, I published another related article about the National Career Pathways Network. In it, you saw the evidence of the over-arching systems in place to bridge K-12 education to post-secondary education-to workforce employment. Below is an excerpt,
“According the the Network’s website there are 10 agenda points for POSs (Programs of Study) for Career Pathways. So every time a student takes a CP course, you’ll know these 10 are woven into it:
1) Legislation and Policies (ie: from federal, state, and local levels)
2) Partnerships (ie: more P3s or public/private partnerships)
3) Professional Development (ie: career tech alignment courses)
4) Accountability and Evaluation Systems (ie: more data mining)
5) College and Career Readiness Standards (ie: more Common Core disguised as ‘not’ CCSS)
6) Course Sequences (ie: aligning the track between secondary and post-secondary schools)
7) Credit Transfer Agreements (ie: keeping the alignment accountable)
8) Guidance Counseling and Academic Advisement (ie: can’t have trained workers without trained guidance)
9) Teaching and Learning Strategies (ie: more project based, collaborative learning)
10) Technical Skills Assessments (ie: assessments from federal, state, and local levels)”

What else you will find in the 2015 article: the 6 key elements of a workforce based education; the slick sales pitches we are subject to; social policies interwoven; key CCSS Machine members, and more.
See/read: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/01/08/tech-thursday-national-career-pathways-network/

Once you read this information, investigate where your State is along in the 10 priorities, the 6 key elements, and anything related to them. Then share it!

The Present Makeover:

The name change is just the beginning. Gone is the Workforce3One (or their logo where the 3 looks like an algebraic number). It is now ‘Workforce GPS’. See below for their own words.

WorkforceGPS

The website has also had a makeover. When I last saw it, there was a Career Model with stackable, crunchable competencies with the Workforce3One Logo. It is now:
https://www.workforcegps.org/

Here is the snappy short video explaining how great the new makeover is going to be:

From another short video on the website is their guide to signing up for Workforce GPS. Be sure to watch it as well. You will learn much. I will include the link, but here is the screen shot you need to see, it is the most revealing:

WrkGPS
To see the video this is from:
https://www.workforcegps.org/resources/2016/04/18/16/09/How_To_Create_A_WorkforceGPS_Account

What else has been made over? When you click on the ‘Communities’ tab, you will see all the interconnecting agencies involved in the career alignment. Think back to the P3s involvement as evidenced both above, and it my last published article (featuring the peas in a pod picture). These interconnecting agencies are full of the public private partnerships!

Also new are the ‘Workforce Innovation Funded Projects’. These will give you a close up look at the local level of WIOA in action. See: https://innovation.workforcegps.org/

Part of the makeover includes ‘Workforce Strategies’! So if you are into evidence based, best practices (subjective to CCSS/CTE) and such, this is for you. See: https://strategies.workforcegps.org/ (*Note: look to the right hand side of the page. For example, there will be research from the SBA {Small Business Administration}. To see how connected the SBA is to the CCSS Machine, see my article, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/ftf-the-sba-and-common-core/)

You, as an anti CCSS Warrior, need to take a look at the ‘Staff Picks’ for informational resources. Among them are how to involve those with special needs, gathering more data on the state and local levels, the competency modeling clearinghouse, the monitoring of our States, and more! See:
https://www.workforcegps.org/resources/StaffPicks

As an anti CCSS Warrior, I know the data mining is a huge concern, especially when you remember that not only have I shared with you HOW the data is ‘married’ between the U.S. Depts of Education and Labor for workforce based education, but others as well.

Want to see what data is used and how it is collected?! Workforce GPS has the tutorial. While you will be able to access the visual information, the audio has been disabled. You should also know this presentation is a P3 one. I was given the notice before I accessed it from the Workforce GPS website. I cannot stress to you how important it is for all of us to investigate this presentation slide by slide. There are very important pieces of information for us to learn and use as weapons of truth.
See: https://spra.adobeconnect.com/_a148408/wiasrd_menu/

Lastly, if you are wondering where the global workforce ties are, try this search page:
https://www.workforcegps.org/search?q=global+&searchAll=false
For example, here is just one of the articles Workforce GPS has on the global economy and workforcehttps://strategies.workforcegps.org/resources/2014/08/11/16/34/a-shaper-focus-on-technical-workers-how-to-educate-and-train-for-the-global-economy

Closing:

Warriors, since the workforce based education is to encompass every grade level, it stands to reason that the WIOA, ESSA, and HEA are included. Much of what I have shared with you since my blog began has repeatedly proved this. What you see above is just the latest.

I thank you for helping get the word out about this. Currently, I am being banned on Facebook from sharing this nation wide. As you can see this information MUST be shared. Not because I wrote it, but because it is the truth. While we are seeing an increase in censorship when sharing the truth, we must press on in spite of the silencing efforts.
Thank you for standing with me.

Watch Out, Alignment Ahead!

For this edition of Weekend News, I thought we should take an updated look at the ‘FREE’ College Movement run by the Federal Government, not local control. All anti-CCSS/CTE (Common Core State Standards/Career Tech Education) and federally led education Warriors should be aware of this push to transform America, from the inside out!

The Back Story:

The last time I wrote to you about Heads Up America, it was Sept. 2015. Has much changed with the movement? Since Arne Duncan’s departure from the U.S. Dept. of Education, has Dr. John King picked up the torch or extinguished it? After all, ‘free college’ is a hot political issue right now. We will find out what the absolute latest is in a bit, in the meantime…
Main points from the previously published  article include:
1) The cradle to career agenda portions of the CCSS Machine extend everywhere, in every State.
2) White House, top-down control and promotion.
3) Our community colleges used as the connector for all to a workforce based education.
4) Many U.S. Dept. of Labor grants; Programs for Higher Education from the U.S. Dept. of Education are ‘married’ to complete the cradle to career tracks.
5) Many well known supportive CCSS Machine members and groups are identified, as well as the documents to back it all up. If you need a true connect the dots from K-12 and Higher Education, this is it!
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/12/weekend-news-heads-up-higher-ed-cte-update/

The Vital Questions for 2016 and Beyond:

Now that you have the history of why I have written about the above at least twice, you may have plenty of questions, just like I do. Where is all this going? Will Dr. King continue the U.S. Dept. of Education’s marriage with the U.S. Dept. of Labor in cradle to career education? We have seen how the candidates (on every level of government) are claiming education solutions, but do they truly get just HOW embedded in America the transformation has progressed and is continuing to point to MORE alignment?

So, let’s start with the Heads Up! Movement and see what new plans have been laid out or, are being proposed.

1) From early Feb. 2016, the screen shot below introducing the Gateway Promise Program in WI and based on the Governor of TN’s plan.

http://headsupamerica.us/press/college-promise-campaign-celebrates-gateway-promise
http://headsupamerica.us/press/college-promise-campaign-celebrates-gateway-promise

2) More incentives for States to encourage P3s (public private partnerships)! Also announced in early Feb. 2016, this will support and align with the language in the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) where P3s are not only encouraged, the relationships are now law. See the screen shot below:
collegetax
To access the entire press release explaining the monetary incentives for the States:
http://headsupamerica.us/press/strengthening-partnerships-between-businesses-and-community-colleges-grow-middle-class

3) Making no bones about the connections between Common Core, College and Career Readiness and a streamlined education, is the Mission Statement for Heads Up. Here is their statement, “We want to spread the message, far and wide. We’ll do that by leveraging the power of a robust, cross-sector engagement strategy throughout the campaign. A National Advisory Board has been convened to work closely with seven key sector-based Leadership Committees, together advocating for free community college, as well as degree and certificate completion for responsible students. The College Promise Campaign will mobilize an influential, diverse, broad–based and growing network to educate the public, elected officials, community and state stakeholders and the media on the benefits of the College Promise, emphasizing high-quality community college education. Leaders from four-year institutions and the business community will have multiple opportunities to participate and extend the impact of the College Promise beyond community colleges to ensure a high-performing pipeline of college and career-ready students flowing from K-12 through higher education.” The National Board appears to be the same today, as it did when I last wrote about the Heads Up. (see point #5 in the Back Story paragraph) To see who is among this National Board:

So, what has Dr. King said or done to carry the torch for all this? Here is an excerpt from his prepared speech from March 2016, “So while it’s true that college remains the greatest driver of socioeconomic mobility in America, it’s also true that if we don’t find ways to keep a college degree within reach for middle- and lower-class families, our institutions of higher education could end up having the opposite effect – they could become a barrier, not a bridge, to greater prosperity.” To see his entire speech,
http://www.ed.gov/news/speeches/ensuring-higher-education-all (*Note, notice his use of the ‘caste system’ in his speech. You will also need to see, how once again, the State of TN is heralded as a model. Take into consideration this is the State which is represented by Sen. Lamar Alexander, who championed the ESSA’s passage, the confirmation of Dr. King,  as well working on the upcoming re-authorization of the  HEA.)

Dr. King also conducted a national tour about colleges and alignment ‘sold as’ opportunity. See: http://www.ed.gov/news/media-advisories/us-acting-education-secretary-john-king-announces-opportunity-across-america-tour

Dr. King’s prepared speech on CTE (Career Tech Education, or as I have uncovered, the adult arm of the CCSS, which begins in middle schools and extends to high schools, dual enrollment classes, early college promise programs, and higher education.) Here is an excerpt, “I can’t think of a better venue to talk about the rapidly evolving field of CTE – Career and Technical Education. We’ve come a long way from what we used to refer to as vocational education. Today, every job that leads to a secure future requires critical thinking, problem solving and creativity, as well as some postsecondary education or training. The best CTE programs help students prepare for this future once they graduate from high school. Today’s CTE is about the future you can’t prepare for with just a textbook.
