How Much More?

Hello Warriors,

We’ve got several federal level bills, as always, which seem to want to take all we’ve got and even more! As taxpayers, our burdens are quite large. Add to that HOW our tax dollars are used, and we get a boat load of agenda! It doesn’t seem to matter if that agenda is to our liking or not. Once D.C. has got it in its ‘head’, we’ve stuck with the account statement!

What does THIS have to do with education?? PLENTY!

rubberroad

Why The Taxpayers Need To Know:

During this past work week, while knee deep in researching, I was able to help draw attention to some big DC bills. We’re not only expected to pick up DC’s tab, we’re supposed to sit by and watch those dollars be used against our students! If you have followed my research for a long time, you know this will NOT be tolerated. First, off it invades our children’s freedom. Then, let’s talk about their civil right to privacy.

Between ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), and every OTHER law which is related to BOTH (for example: HEA, Higher Education Act), our students will be conformed to fit a business pattern (ESSA’s mandates for workforce aligned education) where their every move is tracked (data mined).

While I’ve been speaking out about the bills, I’ve also been sharing with everyone HOW they can help END this cycle of data mining for an educated workforce. That is by joining the grassroots efforts of http://www.childabuseintheclassroom.com

The two pronged goal of @CAintheCR is 1) Repealing ESSA AND 2) Restoring FERPA. Both of these will help end the cycle.
twoprong

By our being aware of how ESSA, WIOA, and, HEA are funded, we can also help raise awareness about 1) what our government is setting our students up for, and, 2) knowing how our tax dollars are (or aren’t) being used with OUR representation.

The “Biggies” Right Now:
*NOTE: Both HR 3358 and S 1771 ONLY address the appropriations for the U.S. Dept. of Labor, the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Dept. of Education. The fact Congress has lumped the 3 US Depts. together in appropriations is not out of convenience, it’s a strategy to help combine WIOA, ESSA, and HEA, along with all the related agencies, contracts, agreements, and strings.

First on our watch list need to the be the House and Senate versions of the FY 2018. House’s is HR 3358. Senate’s is S 1771. Both are very wordy. Both are loaded with trillions of dollars that the majority of will come from our pockets. Both will have massive amounts of those dollars earmarked for the alignment of education to workforce ‘needs’ and data mining to ensure it all happens.

However, we also need to have these following bills in mind. Why? They, too, will extend the ESSA/WIOA/HEA implementation of workforce geared, skill-based education. All these bills and funds will also be used to help wipe out true academics, school choices; bump up assessments for competency levels, and so much more.

THOSE bills? H Concurred Resolution 71 (sets FY 2018 and earmarks FY 2019-2027 funds) is 126 pages. It shows the funding for each House Committee by fiscal year;
S Concurred Bill 3 (earmarks FY 2018-2026 funds) is simply a record of agreement with the House on appropriations; and,
S Resolution 62 (funds all the Senate Committees for FY 2017 through Feb. 28, 2019)

Let me share briefly on H 3358 and S 1771, here. I will be covering the 3 above in my video presentation where I will dive further into ALL the bills listed in this article.
When will that presentation be aired? As soon as I can record it, Warriors!

Most noteworthy on HR 3358 are Pages 71 and 101. However, I was able to track down many OTHER connecting dots among the rest of the bill. For content purposes, I’ll only bring up the 2 pages. IF you’d like to know what other dangers I have uncovered, PLEASE do not hesitate to let me know. Each one somehow and in some way connect to ESSA’s plan for workforce shifts in education and/or the continued assault on FERPA’s data mining.

Page 71 is among the many pages devoted to the U.S. Dept. of HHS. On this page you’ll see the plethora of programs mentioned: “..under SSA (Social Security Act) $1.7 billion to be used for children and family services.” Also, on Page 71, $11 billion to the HHS. Among the programs for the $11 billion? Head Start (Early Head Start gets $650 million, on page 73), ESSA, Community Service Development Block Grants (CSDBGs), and several other programs. The CSDBGs may not sound like a problem, but ESSA uses them for Promise Neighborhoods and 21st Century Community Learning Centers. ESSA also uses/abuses Head Start and Early Head Start.

Page 101 is among the pages devoted to the U.S. Dept of Education. Below is a screen shot of my notes for you. I’ll explain after you view the picture.

p101.jpg

Warriors, what you are looking at is a $15 billion dollar diagram of all the places it is to be divided per ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). That’s right HR3358 didn’t refer to any education funding per ESSA, no, it identified all the funds as for ESEA. If you’ll notice, it was HHS which got ESSA funds.

As far as the educational alignment and damage in S 1771, it is almost a mirror image of the House’s version. One notable exception is seen below:

s1771p6
Warriors, remember, ESSA embedded WIOA several times, especially on Page 17 of ESSA where ALL education must be aligned (means ‘learned’ and ‘taught’) to WIOA’s post-secondary readiness NOT academic knowledge.

Also a bit different from the House’s version, but just as damaging is Page 121 of S 1771:

s1771p121
Warriors, again, MORE data mining alignment on our students! Along with all those local, state, and national levels of data sharing, you can bet there are countless other agencies, P3s (public private partnerships), vendors, and nations receiving the data as well.

Closing:

Warriors, from the way I see the research stacking up, there is NO better time to speak up about the taxpayer misuse than NOW! There is NO better grassroots campaign to END the FERPA’s overreach of data mining. There is NO better time to join the fight to REPEAL ESSA! We CAN halt the social and emotional learning that tie ESSA and FERPA  around the necks of our children like a millstone.
millstone-232x300

We CAN interrupt the massive data mining cycle which continues to assault our rights to freedom and privacy. We DO NOT have to take this type of abuse from our leaders.

Join me for my live presentation (either in person or in an archive version). Learn all the other ways the Congressional bills are laying a trap for educational high-jacking in the name of ‘greatness’ and economic gain.

Lastly, join with me and the other national leaders of “Child Abuse in the Classroom”. Together we can have the damaging reform disrupted.

Ed/Workforce’s Dirty Laundry?!

Hello, my Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warriors! As you know, I’ve dedicated years to researching just how deep the roots to the shift in American education to workforce training are.

Today’s article will give you a rundown which is sure to help your War vs the Core in your State.

Why you need such a rundown of items is simple. The CCSS Machine’s rhetoric will somewhat slow down during the summer months. A perfect opportunity for us to make some moves of our own. No battle is won without specific preparation.

D.C.’s Dirty Laundry:

So far, during the current Congressional session, there are PLENTY of ‘dirty’ education/workforce bills in the making. Using the Congress.gov website (where you can easily look up bills), there are 733 Workforce bills for the 2017 session.

Since we know what happens in D.C. travels to each of the 50 States, we know what to look for at our General Assemblies, State Congresses, etc. Much like the proverbial red towel left in the load of white sheets, the goal of the CCSS Machine is simple, make all education ‘pink’ (ie: workforce training, not academic-minded). As we also, know, once dyed pink, sheets do not return to their former color easily, if at all.

Below are only a few of the ‘dirty’ bills:

S268, Investing in Student Success Act of 2017 (Senator Young from IN is the main sponsor).
Sounds not so ‘dirty’ right? I mean who doesn’t want to invest in their child’s post-secondary education?! Ah, but Warriors, the ‘dirt’ is that your student and someone not related to you invests in their education via an ISA (Income Share Agreement).

S268
Some hidden ‘dirt’ for S268 is that this FEDERAL bill goes above any existing State law about investment agreements! Targeted group for S268? Low-income students.

HR1837, The 21st Century Energy Workforce Act (Representative Norcross from NJ is the main sponsor)
This bill points out that energy in the United States is the 3rd largest industry. As such, it needs more skilled workers than other industries.
The ‘hidden dirt’ to this bill? Using community colleges for the uniting of all educational choices for STEM/CTE aligned Common Core workforce educated students. (*Note: STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; CTE is short for Career Technical Education. Both are tied to Common Core and have been for years.)

The embedded ‘pink’ stain to this bill? The Secretary of Energy will be in charge of grants for creating apprenticeships to carry all this alignment out. This will, of course, involve the U.S. Dept. of Labor, and the U.S. Dept. of Education.
This HR1837, also establishes a National Center for Excellence for the  21st Century Workforce Advisory Board.(see pages 3 and 4)

HR1837

Warriors, notice the ‘pipeline’ begins in elementary school!
*************************************************************************************

A Former ‘Stain’ Which Will Not Wash Out:

Our Senate, over the past 2 Congressional sessions, has tried to get a bill to support a National Workforce Board. See below from Sen. Cantwell’s (WA):

S1304
S1304, was last introduced during the 2015-2016 Session by Sen. Cantwell. If you read the 9 pages, it is very similar in several instances to the HR 1837 language. Talk about ‘dirty laundry’….
*****************************************************************

New Wash Load, Same Old Dirt:

During THIS Congressional Session (2017-2018) The Senate’s 21st Century Energy Workforce Act is mainly sponsored by Sen. Heinrich, NM. It is S895.

S895’s title is officially “Energy Workforce for the 21st Century Act of 2017”. This bill specifies an increase in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) especially for low-income students of ALL ages (like the House’s bill, this one will begin in elementary schools and go all the way to the workforce). This bill also specifies WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s) definition of ‘education’..just like ESSA did.

S895 will have not only the Secretary of Energy creating education collaborations, but awarding all kinds of incentives to them.

S895

Warriors, if you missed my article from earlier this year about how the major Cabinet agencies all have CTE/STEM plans to streamline education to workforce skills, I urge you to access that information here. It is absolutely key to what we see Congress plotting NOW.

Also, take into consideration that the Federal Budget has millions of taxpayer funds earmarked for job creation. On Page 2 of the 2018 Federal Budget, energy development is at the top of the continued priority list. Education is last. On Page 8, funding/discussion for American jobs is highlighted.

Back in March 2017, when the Blueprint for the Federal Budget was released, I shared with you just how the education/workforce stream of money was being kept alive, in spite of all the noise about reining in the federal overreach into education.
Here is that article. (*Note: be sure to access my special 5 page guide to see just how the Cabinet level agenices are involved. It will help in understanding the Congressional bills we are exposing in this article.)

Continuing the Spin Cycle:

S1186 is sponsored by several Senators from across the nation. Leading them is Sen. Baldwin from WI. This bill, the Domestic Maritime Centers of Excellence Act of 2017, would have the Secretary of Transportation select existing community colleges (and technical schools) for an increase in educated workforce training. This Secretary’s assistance also includes funding, use of federal resources, AND, create new career pathways!

S628, Educating Tomorrow’s Workforce Act of  2017 is mainly sponsored by Sen. Kaine of VA. While it’s been rumored VA never had Common Core, it’s been researched and proven VA has Common Core’s ‘adult version’ of education, CTE (Career Tech Education). This bill should be an absolute dead ringer for exposing the shift in education. Why? See below:

S628

Closing:

Warriors, as you can see, these are just a few of the over 700 bills Congress has created in the name of job creation, education, workforce skills, and more. The bottom line, however, is 100% alignment to WIOA via ESSA. HEA (Higher Education Act) is also to be included. Career Pathways, STEM, and so much more connects every one of these existing laws and proposed bills. Will every one of these bills survive? No, but even if ONE of them succeeds, look at the agenda it embeds, not only federally, but LOCALLY.
The ‘stain’ of CCSS Machine reform is becoming permanently marked on America.

DeVos Is In, So What’s The Point?

This is not a ‘revenge’ Rally!

Since we must work with Mrs. DeVos, let’s remind her We the People desparately want our students (of all ages) out of CCSS aligned education!

The education reform road has a long and conflicted path. It won’t get fixed overnight. It will not be easy. But, We the Parents CANNOT give up!

Regardless of your like/dislike for Mrs. DeVos, we have to move forward in our War vs the Core. We do not have time to complain.

We must purpose to hold the Adminstration 100% accountable where education is concerned. If they are unwilling to keep their promises, we MUST call them out. We begin, Monday, Feb. 13th in a respectful manner.

Below are some examples:

Early ESSA

Yes, Warriors Against the Core, we know ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has horrid plans for our littlest learners. However, did you know there was a 2007 law factored into it as well? (If you’re in a hurry, skip to item number 7 below.)

The Law? The 2007’s “Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act”. How is this playing into ESSA?

According to a general search, the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s document embedding the Head Start Act, should show us how. (image is below)

earlyessaguide
To access the Guideessaelguidance10202016
This Guide is 37 pages and is chock full of all kinds of things we Warriors should know:
For example: the data mining, the workforce education, and the inclusion of homeless, Native American, and privately schooled children.

Below are the highlights most important to our War. We should remember that IF the U.S. Dept. of Ed survives, who leads it MUST be a true champion for these littlest children. So far, that champion has not stepped forward.

The Highlights and Low Facts:

1) Dr. John King covers his backside on the very first page and in the very first few sentences. ‘Champion for kids’? No, a chump for kids. Any leader not willing to be held accountable is a leader we don’t need.

Here’s an excerpt, “The U.S. Department of Education does not mandate or prescribe practices, models, or other activities in this non-regulatory guidance document. This guidance contains examples of, adaptations of, and links to resources created and maintained by other public and private organizations.”

2) Page 4 reveals the guidance is given to assist States and Leaders in the ways they should go to meet their obligations in ESSA. Excuse me, but IF the whole gist of the law was to give the States back their control, why does the Ed feel it needs to assist?

This is like a parent telling a child you can eat whatever you want for dinner and then pointing out that these certain kinds of foods are what they should have. Add to that the resources are from P3s (public private partners)..take a guess as to how many will belong to the CCSS Machine, therefore, being slanted for MORE education alignment and overreach?!

3) Page 5 gives us the worn out rhetoric of ‘high quality’ early learning needs SEL (social emotional learning), anything to close the ‘achievement gap’ (Wait, what? These children are just beginning to learn, there isn’t an ‘achievement gap’!), and critical thinking (again, too early!!). In fact the source cited for the ‘critical thinking’ is called “From Neurons to Neighborhoods”. (Sounds absolutely awful, doesn’t it?)

You can find this dated document on the National Academies Press website. See:
https://www.nap.edu/read/9824/chapter/1
(*Notes: 588 pages long, an army of all kinds of researchers, doctors, social agents, policy makers, and others created this study which focuses on children from birth to their first days in Kindergarten. It looks at how their brains work, how they interact, and on and on.)

Oh, and one more thing, all the Foundations tied to the National Academies Press? Up to their necks in CCSS curriculum and resources.

4) Page 6 begins the teachers and their roles in early education section.

5) Pay very close the the footnotes on Page 7, you’ll see, first hand, what those ‘comprehensive’ services include for families and their little ones. All under government parameters.

6) The justification for ‘federal education funds’ begins on Page 8. If our U.S. Secretary of Education and the entire federal government knew their U.S. Constitution, there is NO legal justification for federal anything in education!!
(*Notes: it is here you’ll begin to see the strings from the feds extended to the LEAs and SEAs (Local education agencies and State education agencies). As I shared with you almost immediately after ESSA was passed into Law, the powers of LEAs and SEAs would increase..and so would the micro-management. Here is where you get an idea of HOW that power is to carried out.)

7) Pages 9 and following show you how ESSA will use Title One funds in preschool. There are all kinds of tables and charts to see. However, it is the sentence stating the the Secretary of Education MUST disseminate performance based education standards to the LEAs that we MUST share!! (see below) Also, notice in the footnotes and you’ll find that 2007 Law.

page9

Other Warning Signs:

Warriors, in this document are other warnings for us to share! Look for charter schools; Preschool Development Grants; subgroups of students considered ‘non traditional’ like homeless, Native American, privately educated, and more.

The Underlying Goals:

From Page 16, Alignment and collaboration between early childhood education programs and the K–12 system is a recurring theme throughout the ESEA. The law stresses greater coordination, at both the State and local levels, of programs that serve young children, and encourages a more seamless learning experience from preschool through the elementary grades. In order to accomplish these goals, the Department encourages States and LEAs to consider both the horizontal and vertical alignment of programs. Horizontal alignment is the consistency or connectedness of program and professional standards across programs and settings that serve a particular age or grade. Vertical alignment addresses the progressive development of standards from birth through third grade that provide a continuum for children’s knowledge and skills. Furthermore, it is important that both schools and early childhood programs coordinate their outreach efforts to families, so that they are aware of enrollment options and processes for their children. Community-based organizations can play an important role in this regard as they often have existing, trusting relationships with families.”

Warriors, I don’t need to share with you how dangerous this is. A ‘seamless transition’ is not only for early learners to elementary school, it’s ‘birth to grad school and/or career’!
We have TOO much evidence which points this out, to sweep it under a rug.

Warriors, it goes with saying, but I will say it anyway. We must use this type of information NOW to influence our leaders BEFORE their return to office in January (or their debut in January).

What you see below is a lovely little child. The sponge is to represent all  that our babies will absorb in life. How dreadful it is to know they are destined for a streamlined education of workforce proportions instead of being free to be themselves.

Anti CC Warrior Action Update

Join us tonight from 9 pm to 11 pm to let your outrage against CCSS Machine be felt in D.C.!
Join us tonight from 9 pm to 11 pm to let your outrage against CCSS Machine be felt in D.C.!

Anti CCSS Warriors! Time is our friend today. We’ve still got some hours let to contact Congress before the Senate picks up where it left off on Thursday with the ‘Every Child Achieves Act’. We’ve known it’s a war, but the punches pulled this weekend to try to deter us from the pro CCSS side have been many. However, our powerful messages have also been seen, felt, and heard. With so much at stake, neither side is willing to back down. We must stand firm!

The above screen shot is from a few days ago. Last night’s figures were well over 7,000 tweets strong to D.C. Congratulations, warriors! We have a fresh day today to make that number go even higher AND a Patriot Network Anti CCSS Rally tonight from 9 pm to 11 pm, Eastern Time.

If you’d like to track the anti CC outrage for yourselves, be sure to use the following PJNET page: http://patriotjournalist.com/Tracking.php?Seq=56 (*NOTE: you’ll need to reload the page to get the absolute latest information)

You can also retweet every previously sent message! That also sends even more ire to D.C.! Just use the numbered tabs at the bottom of the “Action” page. Action page, ICYMI:

The Pro CC Side’s Barrage:

Why am I bringing their side up? Some of our most effective information tactics can be found in the rhetoric from their propaganda. How? Think about it, most everything the pro CC side has dished up to us for a long time now, has sounded like it’s all from the same person…no matter how many different supporters you find.  The truth, however, has much power! Yes, it needs to be repeated, but since it is the truth, it won’t sound like a worn out recording. So, that said, let’s look at the biggest ‘info’ barrage messages the pro side gave us during the past few days:

1) From the Education and Workforce Committee’s Twitter page, comes this supportive message for more ‘Core’:
edworkhr5

Rep. Mike Bishop shared the above and called it ‘one step closer to fixing NCLB’. Rep. Bishop is from Michigan.

How, we, the anti CCSS Warriors can use this? As a visual, show how inaccurate this is! As a verbal or written message? Think about how if House members are calling HR5 ‘one step closer’, know the Senate’s mindset is the same. Knowing that you can express how Every Child Achieves is, in fact, not one step closer to fixing anything in education!

2) From the Sec. of Education, July 7th’s message to the world:

A 'stain'?! Is is kidding any of us?
A ‘stain’?! Is is kidding any of us?

How, we, the Anti CCSS Warriors can use this one, is simply this. Use all the facts we have to show where the inequalities of a CCSS education are!

3) From the Network for Public Education, as seen Saturday, July 11th:

NPE has come out in support of ECAA.
NPE has come out in support of ECAA.

The article being referred to? This link will take you to it:
 http://dianeravitch.net/2015/07/11/network-for-public-education-offers-qualified-endorsement-of-every-child-achieves-act/

How, we, the Anti CCSS warrior can use this to ‘fire ire to D.C.’ over the ECAA?

Well, for starters, know that there’s more to the story.
Back in May 2015, I published an article that surrounded Sen. Tester’s amendment about assessments and how NPE was backing it. This is important NOW, so take a few minutes are read it. I want to you to connect the dots on your own.

See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/05/26/ftf-ccss-testing-bill-maybe-maybe-not/ (*NOTE: Sen. Tester’s amendment has since been voted to be part of the ECAA. You will see I refer to HR5, as well. HR5 is brought up, only as a comparison, since at that point in time, it was to be voted upon first.)

Related resources to further illustrate the toxic ties between one of the ECAA’s leaders and one of NPE’s leaders:
a) Anita Hoge’s documentation tying Sen. Alexander and Ms. Ravitch, NPE’s co-founder.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6zikOSdV-TAZHZSVmxUWUlmakE/view?pli=1

b) My previously published article about the CTE  Conference where Ravitch was a featured speaker. Also included in this particular article is the U.S. Vice President, organized unions, and MORE! (*NOTE: CTE, Career and Technical Education, aka post-secondary CCSS, which has been shown up in elementary grades, too)
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/11/16/rmt-vp-unions-career-tech-and-common-core/

c) The ACTE (Association for Career and Technical Education) has a priority list out for any federal legislation (HR5, Student Success Act;  ECAA, Every Child Achieves Act; HEA, Higher Education Act; and the CPA, College Promise Act). Those priorities? Embed CTE in every one of these so that America would be:
“Ensuring all students have access to high-quality CTE programs in high schools and post-secondary institutions o building a strong system of CTE around the country, which should begin early in a student’s education with career awareness and broad knowledge and then build pathways to more specific career-readiness skills through connections among secondary and postsecondary education and the labor market.
To support the notion of a strong system of CTE around the country and access for all, ensure that the Perkins Act remain primarily a formula grant designed to support all CTE programs that are willing to make a commitment to high levels of quality and continuous program improvement.”
(*NOTE: this priority list was not released this weekend, it’s been out for a while. You can see the entire document:
http://www.acteonline.org/uploadedFiles/Assets_and_Documents/Global/files/Policy/Perkins_%20Priorities_Final.pdf)

Closing:

I’ve shared all the above, so that we can see just how deceptive the pro CCSS side has been. If we are resisting Common Core and its Machine, we MUST know exactly where those who are supporting it stand. We’ve known they will stoop to all levels of deceiving us. However, we must press on. We have the truth! We must protect our students, teachers, and families!

Our purpose this weekend is clear: influence the Senate with as MUCH truth about the illegally based CC Standards;  the inappropriate education continued in ECAA and all related bills; and how, we, the citizens will NOT STAND FOR THIS!

RMT: Halting a CCSS/CTE aligned Workforce?

CCSS/CTE/CCR/Career Pathways/Career Clusters/Aligned Apprentices = Epic Fail for America!
CCSS/CTE/CCR/Career Pathways/Career Clusters/Aligned Apprentices = Epic Fail for America!

To the Warriors against the ‘Core’, we’ve learned over and over that the CCSS Machine has many parts to it. Those parts include Career Clusters, Career Pathways, the American Apprenticeship Initiative, Career and Technical Education, and the  Common  Core Standards (which encompass every subject, including the Arts and PE).

One of the biggest parts of the Machine? That would be the amount of legislation expressly written to protect the embedding of all this illegally based education reform!

To date one of the most important pieces of this type of legislation is the (already passed as  a law in 2014 on the federal level) WIOA. Also known as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The other key pieces of federal level CCSS Machine protecting legislative moves are the re-authorizations of the ESEA/NCLB (HR5, which has had a name change every time we turn around) and the HEA (Higher Education Act).

So What’s the Riddle, Today?:

As you know, each Sunday, I have a riddle for you. So what’s today’s based on the topic thus far? Can we halt the WIOA’s overreach in any way? Let’s find out.

Scores of articles (several are available right here on my blog; just use the ‘search bar’.) have been written; interviews recorded; documents uncovered (with the express purpose of exposing the vast amount of CCSS/CTE/Career Clusters/Career Pathways, etc.) as proof of the embedded and planned course to reshape America starting with education. In the past, the message had been somewhat marginalized.

However, it appears the message is gaining a wider voice and many citizens are recognizing action MUST be taken to save our nation!..beginning with education. You see, the trail of the CCSS Machine STARTS at the child care years and steamrolls all the way to career-land. No educational choice will be respected, no citizen left unscathed by the time the full impact of the WIOA, HR5, and HEA are felt…IF left as is, in their current forms!  I’ve inserted 3 visuals below to illustrate my points.

An aligned collective community?! Is this really what CCSSO has begun? Common Core is entrenched in this, folks.
The Initiative named above is connected to the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) by way of KnowledgeWorks.

The visual below shows what parts of WIOA are already in play to ‘align and mine’ student/workforce data. What’s not in the visual is the language stating how this information pipeline will ‘marry’ with SLDS (Student Longitudinal Data System).

Click to enlarge to see which round your state receive 'align and mine' money. IF you do not see a color on your state, you've not been awarded money yet.
Much like RtTT, states have been awarded incentive money for the WIOA data pipeline.

The 3rd visual is an old one, but is very fitting as to the success of the CCSS Machine’s efforts in WIOA. What’s the ‘secret’? P3s! Public private partnerships. They’ve invested millions of dollars on lobbying for WIOA and advertising it as ‘a good thing’.

P3s, education's nightmare in friendly form.
P3s, education’s nightmare in friendly form.

So, the Answer to Our Riddle?:

Continue to HELP spread the message that WIOA is bad news! That HR5 and HEA are terrible moves!

One of the ways in which you can impact WIOA is to contact your federal level Congress members IMMEDIATELY!

Another way is to use any ‘public comment’ window the federal levels open up. These ‘windows’ are announced; this is true. However, if you don’t know these announcements have been made, how can we participate? We’ve seen this type of move made before by the CCSS Machine and anything connected to its viability.

Currently the U.S. Dept. of Ed has one for WIOA (it is only open until the 15th of June 2015). I’m providing the information below so you CAN share it, respond to it, and be ‘on the record’ as an anti CCSS Warrior.

Here’s the information release (notice no date appears as to when this released was posted) about the public comment window becoming available:
http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osers/rsa/wioa-reauthorization.html#nprm

Here’s a blog entry I found announcing the public comment window’s time period and supposed changes:

What the U.S. Dept of Ed isn’t sharing about WIOA is just how embedded in CCSS/CTE the law really is. For that side of the truth, you’ll need facts. Below are some related resources I urge you to dig into.

Related Resources:

From the “Prevent Common Core” website, 3 articles:
1) An article about the skewing of our communities via CCSS/CTE, http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1247

2) A pair of articles detailing WIOA and it’s toxic underbelly, http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1187 and http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1201

A Final Key Answer We Need for Our Riddle:

If you’ve not found the above resources to be helpful in why we should halt WIOA’s/CCSS Machine moves, here’s one which I hope will be a deciding factor for you. From the National Skills Coalition, a pdf titled ” Aligned by Design: WIOA and Career and Technical Education”. Key phrases to look for in your state’s legislation: ‘unified plan’; ‘combined plan’. Get the ‘plans’: 2015-06-Aligned-by-Design-WIOA-and-CTE

Please, read the PDF as well as the other related resources BEFORE you make any public comments! We have a short time span to make a HUGE impact.

Monday Musings: Opportunity or Ultimatum?

In the realm of all things Common Core, what's offered as opportunity is often not all it's supposed to be.
In the realm of all things Common Core, what’s offered as opportunity is often not all it’s supposed to be.

Happening just days from is the “National Opportunity Summit” in Washington, D.C. How this connects to Common Core is about to be revealed. Join me as we learn all we can. Clothed as ‘opportunity’, it smacks of ‘ultimatum’.

The Nation:

Website: http://opportunitynation.org/the-opportunity-summit/  Known as “Opportunity Nation”, this group is part of the “Be the Change, Inc.”, a 501(c) 3 organization. We’ll look at “Be” in a bit, but first let’s look at what the “Opportunity Nation” does.

The Participating Members:

As part the Nation, there are several known pro-CCSS schools, organizations. You’ll need to see the entire list for yourselves, however, here’s a screen shot you can click on to enlarge.

This coalition includes the Boy Scouts, community colleges, and many more.

The Index:

What nation would be complete without a way to compare each state to others? You’ll note when you enlarge this picture that the Index uses the unemployment rate. If you’re not aware, the unemployment rate has been misused to support Common Core.

Here's a sample of what you can find out about your state's opportunity levels.
Here’s a sample of what you can find out about your state’s opportunity levels.

The Solution?:

Opp Nation has a solution to all this disconnection/unemployment it says we are experiencing. What are some of the pieces to the solution? Career Tech Education! (Adult Common Core) Workforce legislation (aligns labor/education), education savings accounts (which have been reported to be another way to ensnare families in CCSS). You really NEED to see the entire solution plan.

The Summit:

While you look over the Summit’s planned workshops, consider the politicians involved. Note the businesses. Do you see Business Round Table? Huge CC supportive group. See: http://opportunitynation.org/opportunity-summit-agenda/

The YouTube Channel:

You’ll really want to access the Nation’s videos. All the rhetoric you’d expect from the CCSS Machine’s drive to disguise ultimatums with opportunities. See: https://www.youtube.com/user/OpportunityNation

“Be the Change”, Inc.:

Website: http://www.bethechangeinc.org/  This nonprofit is devoted to the memory and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Currently, they also have other initiatives going on besides OppNation. Be/Change is also devoted to Workforce as opportunity. To see who serves on the Board, visit: http://www.bethechangeinc.org/pages/who-we-are

More About Mr. Khazei:

The internet search I used called Mr. Khazei a ‘social entrepreneur’. “Echoing Green” named him a Fellow back in 1991. (See: http://www.echoinggreen.org/fellows/alan-khazei ) His social justice campaign got a shout out a few years ago, see:

Mr. Khazei’s other Common Core tie? The Aspen Institute! That is according to his LinkedIn profile. See: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/alan-khazei/15/75b/4a8

Aspen, Gates Foundation, and CCSS: The Washington Post has a great article connecting all three of these. See: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/05/12/gates-gives-150-million-in-grants-for-common-core-standards/

Closing:

Well, the original musing I posed was all this opportunity or ultimatum. It is my researched opinion that opportunity is a farce in the realm of Common Core. Ultimatums are a distinct possibility when you factor in all the amount of controlling strings the CCSS Machine has for us.
