Ed’s Potpurri

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, while the main stream news tries to overload us with ‘squirrels’, the U.S. Dept. of Education is carrying on the status quo.

Should THIS be main stream information? I believe so. Why? Because everyday the status quo in ‘education’ is carried out, millions of lives are being harmed.

THAT, my fellow Warriors, should be OUR only news!

I believe if it were our only news, we’d be more inclined to jump in and save our nation’s citizens.

MLKquote

Think of it this way. Potpourri is used to help rooms smell good. Some potpourri mixes are pleasing to our noses, while others assault our noses with a bad smell. Not everyone can be around potpourri, if it contains something they are allergic to.

When the CCSS Machine rolled into America, it replaced the good, quality education (pleasing potpourri) with a stench SO bad, it’s smelled world-wide. The abysmal education we see trotted out isn’t for everyone, either, however, it is all we’re getting.

For the remainder of this article, I’ll share with you some of the latest news from the U.S. Dept. of Education. I warn you, the ‘smell’ is vile.

Ed’s “Smell” in Transmedia circa 2015 To Present:

In an email from the U.S. Dept. of Ed, sent last week (Aug.2019), several items were brought up.
While a new TV ‘transmedia’ (short for “transmitted media”) was released, the link used in the email took you to what you see below. There was no press release date, so it wasn’t until you began to read the information about ‘transmedia’ that the 2015 date shows up as ‘new’.
By the way, the RtL (Ready to Learn) TV can be seen on PBS (already a CCSS Machine member group). To see the entire page (be sure to read the ‘about RtL’ portion at the bottom of the page. You’ll spot the source of the ‘smell’: school readiness.)

transmedia

Ready to Learn TV got its start based off money and policy. It also gears itself around the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandate for 365, 24/7 access to educational media. This ‘access’ is to encompass EVERY school choice, even homeschools.

While we can trace the money back to the CCSS Machine (includes WestEd), where did the policy come from? Northwestern University! Back in 2015, I shared with you  the Northwestern University’s Kellogg Center CCSS Machine ties. For RtL TV, the Northwestern department is the Communications Dept.

Warriors, let’s also see if we can spot the agenda’s smell by the term ‘transmedia’. With all the confusion surrounding ‘trans’ in other education subjects, won’t a move like this help further the confusion?

Ed’s Globalistic “Opportunity Zones”:

Also from that email last week, was the news that Sec. DeVos wants to enfold the Presidential Initiative for Opportunity Zones into education.

edopzone

Warriors, this absolutely smells of treason!! How? First, ESSA is a K-12th grade law which codified WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). WIOA had Opportunity Zones already in place! ESSA also mandated regionalized education. Regionalism is 100% United Nations. As far as education goes, across our nation, the regionalism is well entrenched through College and Career Readiness hubs. Secondly, this move to align education to job opportunities supports the G20 ed/labor document DeVos signed on behalf of our nation.

Warriors, we have an opportunity to weigh in on DeVos’s desires, but we MUST act by August 28th!! As of this article, only 3 other citizens have spoken out. Two of those 3 are citing corruption. Mine cited the uniting of education and labor is treasonous and illegal. You’ll find the Federal Registry link above (opportunity zone initiative is highlighted for you).

Ed’s Update To Data Mining:

Warriors, we know the ‘smell’ of data mining well. Of all the rotten potpourri scents, this one is the stinker of them all!

Ed;  As If America’s Not Global Enough Already:

The folks at the U.S. Dept. of Education are laying out what they hope is a teasing scent to entice us to look toward International Education Week (11/18-22/19).

iew2019

When you visit the embedding link (above), be sure to listen to the Secretary of the State’s video message. In it, he claims international education will help promote American values all over the world.

I ask you, Warriors, how is this possible when our very values are being thrown away and replaced with the United Nations’?

The, if you can actually stand listening to Sec. DeVos, you need to. Her fragrance of globalism almost wafts off the screen! Listen for ‘lifelong learning’ and being career ready. DeVos’s direction in education is steering right into the global workforce.

Closing:

Warriors, if your nose if full of bad smells by now, I’d like to invite you to refresh your sense of smell with some truth.

1) We the People are more in number than the US federal government; we need to act on this.

2) Everything the U.S. Dept. of Education is doing, has done, and is planning is illegal. Everything they are doing spills over into every other federal agency.
We should revolt against this.

3) We are governed by the U.S. Declaration of Independence, NOT the United Nations declarations of conformity. We need to be persistent with this message in reaching our officials.

4) We should no longer call any educrat, regardless of office status, a ‘leader’. Where they are leading is NOT where we should go.
Leaders should be honest and respecting of their followers.
No one in the CCSS Machine is a leader to us. No one in the CCSS Machine respects us.
They are underminers of our nation and destroyers of our future as free citizens. They are our enemies. We need to act like it.
We will change nothing in this War Vs the Core by playing nice.

5) We are the protectors of our children, we cannot allow them to suffer under this educratic takeover anymore.

Operation Alignment

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, it’s my final article of the recent series I have published looking at the 116th Congress’s educractic BS.

In today’s article, a look at S 5 (Education Opportunities Act) and HR 425 (Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act).

S 5 is sponsored by Sen. Rubio (FL) and is 15 pages long. There are no co-sponsors. Currently, S 5 is in the Senate Finance Committee.
HR 425 is sponsored by Rep. Dr. Dunn (FL), there is one co-sponsor, Rep. Lamb (PA)

Warriors, we know Sen. Rubio is an educrat. My articles on his alliance with the CCSS Machine are here. Sen. Rubio’s current committees list. Recent campaign backing for the Senator included Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. Two huge CCSS Machine member organizations.

Rep. Dr. Dunn’s issues do not include education, but he does list veterans. Rep. Dr. Dunn is on the Veterans Affairs Committee and the Committee for Science, Space, and Technology. Rep. Lamb lists education and veterans as two of his issues. Rep. Lamb is the Vice Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee. He is on the Science, Space, and Tech Committee, too.
Rep. Lamb’s recent campaign donors include the NEA (National Education Assoc.) and at least 3 universities tied to the CCSS Machine.

What S 5 Says/Does:

Here’s the link to the Bill. It’s called the Educational Opportunities Act.
1) S 5 will amend the IRS Code. The purpose is to allow tax credits for elementary and secondary tuition.

s5.jpg

2) Eligible ‘scholarship granting organizations’ are defined by Section 501 (C3) and 501 (A) of the IRS Code. This means that the organization is tax exempt and that it’s only purpose is to provide scholarships to eligible students.

3) Eligible students are defined as person enrolled in a school defined in the IRS Code Section 530 (b3B) and Section 4(B) as well as below the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services’ poverty line.

4) Eligible schools are ones which charge tuition, comply with all State laws and agree to annual reports.  Part of the data collected will be off the nationally normed, State aligned tests and assessments. Page 8 does say no personal identifiable data will be shared, but Warriors, how many times have we been sold that lie? Consider, also, with the recent passage of FEPA, the IRS’s data will now be up for grabs by data trackers.
The scholarships given cannot go to pay for anything at a school or in a school system in public education.

5) Reports and data will be fed to the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Institute of Education Science, (IES). IES, is a huge CCSS Machine member organization which shares student data freely. In 2016, I showed you how ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) would have IES  pop up in homeschooling data mining. Also from 2016, how IES is woven throughout more than we thought.

6) Corporations will also be included in the tax credits. The credits cannot exceed $100,000.00.

When I first shared this graphic, I was describing K-12 students. Our veterans certainly do NOT deserve to pushed through a pipeline, either!

HR 425, Supporting Veterans in STEM Careers Act:

Warriors, here’s the link to this Bill.

stemvets
1) HR 425 puts the NSF (National Science Foundation) as the directing entity for the veterans program. The program? It’s a veteran outreach plan. Warriors, I’ve shown you before, many times, how the NSF is tied to the United Nations.

I can think of no greater insult to our veterans that to assimilate them into a global minion. That’s so anti-American.

2) Look at how the NSF will manipulate us and data track our vets:

hr425.jpg
3) Any research and/or leverage used for the veterans plan will be based off the NSF’s Report called the “National Science Board Indicators”. This will be totally subjective, not objective. It’s also going to be geared toward the global workforce. Here’s the 2018 Report.

4) HR 425 updates the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship to include veterans. This scholarship is expressly for STEM teachers and has been made into a public law (2002).
If you are not familiar with the name Robert Noyce, that’s okay. Maybe you recognize his contribution to the computer, called Intel. I’ve written about the Robert Noyce Foundation before.

5) Also amended is the NSF Act of 2002 concerning the Teaching Fellows and Masters Program.

6) The NSF’s Computer and Network Security and Capacity Building Grants will also be updated to include vets.

7) A new government interagency will be established with HR 425. It’s to be called the
“Veterans and Military Families STEM Education Interagency Working Group”. This group will use federal resources to transition veterans and military spouses into STEM careers.
This interagency will close after 5 years after this Bill becomes law, should it.

Connected to this is the Office of Science and Technology Policy’s Director making sure all STEM strategies in HR 425 are carried out. The Director is also known as the “President’s Science Advisor”.

Many have argued that President Trump is dedicated to getting all parts of the US out of the UN, but I ask you to consider how when he wholeheartedly supports STEM.

Related:

HR 627, is also STEM legislation which broadens the NSF in all education.
STEM connects to Smart Cities, also a part of the UN’s agenda.
ESSA upped the CCSS/STEM ante to gel with the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
The power shift in DC didn’t end the educratic BS we’ve grown so accustom to seeing. Review or discover how deep the STEM ‘love’ goes in DC.

Closing:

Warriors, I hope this series has helped spur you on to keep fighting to save our nation, as well as our schools. Will the 116th Congress continue to pump out harmful legislation? Absolutely. Will I keep you updated? You know I will.
I’ll be back on the blazing trail next week.
In the meantime, share the Series with your leaders and concerned citizens.

FTF Tuesday: Competency vs Mastery

It is the 'classic' battle of the educratic words.. competency vs. mastery.
It is the ‘classic’ battle of the educratic words..
competency vs. master

First up, The ‘file’:

I’m focusing today on a ‘file’ that’s full of so many educratic Common Core/College-Career-Readiness buzz phrases, it could start its on fertilizer patch! If you’ve followed me for long, you know I’m one to look behind the words thrown around meant to impress us with how great CCSS is (and all that goes with it). So, today. we’re getting in the ring with this competency vs. mastery!

The blog article is called “Three Key Characteristics of Competency Based Learning” (see: http://blog.blackboard.com/3-key-characteristics-of-competency-based-learning/) The very first sentence states,Competency based learning empowers learners to focus on mastery of valuable skills and knowledge and learn at their own pace.” In all fairness, the author does tell you to use the lexicon guide to understand what competency based learning is. So, I went there. Guess what? There’s no ONE definitive meaning.

So, here’s a clue..since people are so different and there’s no ONE way to constrict competency based learning, WHY BOTHER?? Maybe I’m being too simple minded, but as an educator, I didn’t (still don’t) have time, luxury, or desire to try to adhere to something that has to fit a mold. I certainly will not force my students to adhere to this system of learning. It’s disaster filled. You want a student who can learn at their own pace, look at how Benjamin Franklin achieved this. He was a self-taught person. Thomas Edison..horrid in a traditional school, fabulous in his own setting. Why those who are funding CCSS and running the education of American won’t look at this kind of REAL learning? It will not fit their agenda. So, instead, they seek to conform, relegate, and belittle those in the classrooms.

Words that Confuse, Round One:

“Mastery”, what does THAT mean? Well, as far as the ‘helpful’ lexicon the author refers you to? You have to download it..Come on..be helpful..show me in the article, don’t tout your project and then send me somewhere else! I have enough downloads now! Below, is the American Policy Center’s definition of ‘Outcome Based Education’ otherwise called, ‘Mastery Learning’:

“OBE is not a curriculum. It is an anti-intellectual, highly politicized, psychological process designed to create students who are accepting of and susceptible to control by selected authorities. Successful OBE programs produce students who reject individual goals and achievements in deference to the needs and goals of a group. Student acceptance of individual competitiveness, parental authority and traditional societal structures are seen as barriers to achieving a successful education process. Assessment tests and national standards are established to determine if a student is accepting the new set of attitudes, values and beliefs.  Concerns for academic achievement are never considered in the OBE process.  LEARNING: a change in behavior which persists. Under the OBE behavior-modification system, a child is said to be learning when assessment tests show that he/she has begun to succumb to and accept the predetermined set of values and outcomes prescribed and preset in the OBE process.   Where once a student answered “white,” but now says “gray,” the OBE process says he/she is beginning to learn. Soon he/she will answer “black” and the education establishment will declare that the student has “mastered” his/her “core subjects,” ready to add to the “Goals 2000″ 90% graduation statistic to prove how the new education process is working.” (if you’d like to read the rest of the article: http://americanpolicy.org/1999/03/29/how-to-understand-the-double-speak-of-the-educrats/)

The Dictionary, Round Two:

When in doubt, turn to the dictionary!! My personal favorite is my old, beat up Random House Collegiate one. (I’ve seen the updated versions; ghastly in their rewritten, modern forms) So, just WHAT does the dictionary say ‘competency’ is? Adequate, sufficient; certain minimum requirements of age, soundness of mind, citizenship, and the like.”

‘Mastery’, according to the dictionary, “The state of being a master {person with ability, power to use, control or dispose of something}; power of command or control. Command or grasp, as in a subject. Expert skill and knowledge.”

‘Empower’, “To give power or authority. To permit or enable.”

Closing thoughts, Final Round:

Now, go back and apply this to the opening sentence: It should sound something like this:Sufficient,  minimum requirements enable  learners to focus on being a master while complying.”

From this context, the rest of article is a mass of mixed messages. Very few true masters of anything were minimal. Take DaVinci, he was 24/7, full throttle..wide open. Now, imagine someone like him under the constraints of Competency Based Learning. He’d probably be out the door (if not dead) in less than a week. Filter the rest of the article with this in mind. Especially when you get to all the practical, buy-in, everyone wins part.

When did education become so much about ‘buy ins’, ‘leverage’, ‘lowering’, and collective? Those who support the Common Core, seem to be wholeheartedly behind this OBE, Competency based learning.  Look, at not just this article, but others like it. Talk is big about how great it all is, the students can learn SO much..and at their own pace. If you’ve not seen the pattern yet, there’s not much time, desire, or energy left for ‘individualized learning’ in this model.

You either want a student to succeed at his or her best or you don’t. You cannot have a student be both competent based AND mastery based. It’s either setting the bar too low or teasing them. To be competent, you only have to meet the standard, to be an master takes years of hard work. Look at any expert down through the ages..they weren’t awarded ‘mastery’, they toiled for it. Common Core will not give us real masters in education. If it did, why are the Standards written by those who are competent in education? No real expert or master of education stands behind them! You want sub-standards in education, CCSS gives you some ‘bang up’ models then! You want real mastery in education, keep looking..Common Core has set our students up for failing..for just getting by..for minimalist ‘education’ as prescribed by someone else that will not help your student be THEIR own person, nor be THEIR best!

CommonCore-Equal-Fail

Tongue-in-cheek assessment of Competency Based Learning, The Knock Out Punch:

There’s an old phrase, the educrats seem to have laid aside, “Jack of all trades, master at none.” Who wants to be THAT person? Who wants their students to be THAT person?? I don’t! It’s time to stop the falsehoods, folks. Let’s get back to real education in America.
