Within Our Shores?

Author’s note: original feature picture is courtesy of ClipGround.com

To My Anti Fed Ed Warriors, how many times have we been able to trace all the modern education reform back to entities NOT within our US shores? Each and every day, as time passes, we see bolder and bolder moves by our leaders (from federal to state levels) become more globally aligned than American-minded.

Oh sure; these leaders swear allegiance to our US Flag every day; they took oaths upon entering offices to uphold the Constitution: to protect American citizens.

If you’ve followed my blog for a long time, you’ve read how incensed I have become over the more-than-visible actions of UN-led motives, agendas, and ideals these VERY same leaders are supporting.

Warriors, WHAT are OUR leaders doing to us? Why are WE not enraged? We must ask ourselves: why are we being passive about this?!

We elected  these leaders (unless appointed) to represent us..not the world! Certainly not the US as filtered by the UN’s mandates.

Sitting On The Hill:

Warriors, sitting in Congress as I write (and you read) this, is a bill from OUR leaders in the name of ‘education’. Now, in my mind, I have this question running through my thoughts:

What in the name of ‘education’ is Congress setting our schools up for?!

This globally encompassing Congressional bill is S 1171 and is titled “Keeping Girls in School Act”.
Sponsoring this? Sen. Sheehan from NH.
It was introduced back in May 2017 and is in the Committee for Foreign Affairs at the moment.
(*Note: one of the UN-inspired tactics in education is ‘lifelong learning’. So, with a title like this bill, does it literally mean our females will ALWAYS be in some type of school?)

****Let me pause here, Warriors.
As you know, on my blog and from other researcher/writers, we’ve been able to tie the CCSS Machine to the UN, the U.S. State Dept., the Office of Reform and Government Oversight, the U.S. Treasury, the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s International Education Office, and other departments which interact with other nations.

In Feb. 2017, I wrote about the House’s Resolution to adhere and uplift UNESCO’s “International Mother Language” Day.

From S 1171’s pages, look below, Warriors:

Warriors, what obvious questions do you have after seeing this? I know what mine are.

S 1171 has SO much overreach, it’s truly egregiously criminal.
1) Creates even more discrimination in education; not lessening it.

2) Creates even more P3 (public private partnerships) activity for economic gain.

3) Uses a portion of the human population to justify all of #1 and 2.

4) Shows the nation that it’s more important to honor global agreements and partnerships than correcting American education problems which address 100% of the  citizens.

5) Ignores the vast amount of research by Americans FOR Americans proving how we are under-serving young men.

6) Is clearly using the UN/UNESCO SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) #5 and any related to #5. (SDG #5 is “Achieve Gender Equality and Empower all women and girls”)

7) If you couldn’t read the three overreaches in the screen shot:
a) Expands the U.S. federal government’s power in education ( a $35 million dollar annual fund).
b) Puts the U.S. State Dept. at the head position for education’s innovation.
c) Relies on UNESCO studies and reports, not American studies and research.

8) Cites the U.S. State Dept’s “Global Strategy to Empower Adolescence Girls”

*To learn more about MCC’s data initiatives (Millennium Challenge Corporation), go

*To read the 80 Page State Dept.’s Empowerment Plan, find it here. While I couldn’t find a publication date, the opening endorsements are from then-President Obama and the former First Lady.

*To learn more about the SDG #5 and how it’s impacting the US now, visit this website.

*To read the previous information I’ve shared with you about the U.S. State Dept.’s allegiance to STEM and STEAM (UN based and sold as US created), go here.
(*STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math; STEAM is Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and, Math)

Q) How do STEM And STEAM connect to S 1171?
A) One of the biggest programs begun, by the Obamas, “Let Girls Learn” is rooted in STEM/STEAM. (see below)
A) The SDG Tool Kit  (education-for-sd-tool-kit-fully-highlighted-1 )
created by a University of TN professor clearly stated that to make the Goals successful, the female population had to be empowered in the name of education and economic gain.

Warriors, this isn’t really about ’empowerment’, it’s more like exploitation. (Because after all, if we get girls out of the house and into the workplace, more money is made for everyone.)

Warriors, there are a few important things S 1171 would achieve (for example: placing female genital mutilation under a ‘barrier status’); however, what is so concerning for all of us should be: that one more time, a ton of BAD legislation surrounds a minority of GOOD legislation.
Why have our leaders so ignored American problems and solutions?! Why have our leaders divorced their hearts and ears when listening to the citizens they represent?!

Warriors, let me state for the record that I am not ‘anti-people’. I AM ‘anti big government’.
Men AND women are both essential to our lives.

I’m also old enough to have lived through the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) upheaval. I’ve worked in jobs side by side with male peers and seen them earn more. I UNDERSTAND how important some of the issues surrounding girls education are.

But, as a Mom to both sexes, I cannot see how one gender is more worthy (or exploitable) than the other.

It appears Congress isn’t thinking like parents in S 1171.

We have ENOUGH angst in our nation NOW. S 1171 has the potential to add fuel to this angst. How?

When you exalt one gender, the other gender is automatically seen as ‘less than’. Does Congress really want to further this type of treatment to Americans?

Here’s another fact, with all the citizens who are not associating  with the 2 genders, where will those students land with a bill like S 1171?

No government, especially ‘the land of the free and the home of the brave’ should be tipping the scales when it comes to male/female education.

Our government isn’t even supposed to ‘BE’ in education AT ALL!
For argument’s sake, pretend the US Congress DID have a place in education, shouldn’t it be 100% American? Shouldn’t education be for girls AND boys? Wouldn’t THAT be true equality?

US fed statute

Warriors, I truly fail to see where the globalism; the use of P3s (especially with Gates Foundation money), and more discrimination, how Congress thinks S 1171 will help American students be the best they are meant to be.

I do see S 1171 furthering the road to ruin for our nation at the expense of our children.
Warriors, I hope you see this distinction, too.

From our Eastern shores to our Western shores in the US, along with our territories: We MUST stand up and protect our children.

CTE’s Open Memo

To: All Career Tech Educational Instructors {CTE} (K-12, post-secondary in public, private, or for-profit educational institutions)

From: The Common Core Diva

CC: All anti Fed Ed Warriors, regardless of school choice

Subject: Impact of shift from academics to workforce in your workplace

Summary: Due in part from the United States federal government’s agreement with the United Nations to uphold and adhere to the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals); Congress’s legislation to create WIOA {Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act} and the STEM Act {Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math}; re-write and re-authorize both the ESEA {Elementary and Secondary Education Act} and the HEA {Higher Education Act}. ESEA is now the ESSA {Every Student Succeeds Act}, HEA remains the same..for now. Also responsible for this shift in your workplace are the P3s {Public Private Partnerships}. These P3s will be either globally active or locally active; some will be both.

Changes You May See Now, or, Will See Soon:

1) An increase in computer training to earn digital badges or credentialed certificates thereby creating a decrease in hard copy books or instructional manuals. This is usually promoted as a way to ‘go green and save paper’. In reality, it’s a way to create a ‘life-long learning’ track of employability for you. In most instances, these courses are used for giving a teacher/leader a ‘promotion’. Ususally, these are mere lateral steps, not actual promotions. As such, you may see (or not see) your income increased. These tracks are usually professionally developed by various CCSS (Common Core State Standards) supportive groups or organizations. Because CTE IS Common Core (by a different name), your training is aligned to meet THOSE standards. Most of the time, in addition to your company’s policy for training and leadership. Teachers/Leaders, remember the Business Roundtable, several unions, and almost every major corporation have backed this shift in education from academics to workforce for years. CTE has given them the opportunity to do it in the name of ‘jobs’. Our federal government uses it as a tool to sell human diginity in exchange for a better economy.

AK assess

2) A shift you will NOT see, but is happening to you is a direct result of #1. That is data mining. Yes, your computer based training is captured, studied, and shared by countless educational groups and any other group they work with or are contracted to work with. This data, is also shared on the federal government level, as well as globally. Why? Your ‘competency’ is measured to be used against you later on. If you do not ‘teach’ well, your students do not ‘learn’ well. These 2 factors are weighed against the entire school. If a post-secondary school doesn’t measure up to the accrediting body’s standards (also directly overseen by the U.S. Dept. of Education and those post-secondary accrediation organizations it works with), funding is cut. Which means, pay cuts or lay-offs become a bigger reality.

3) CTE teacher/leader ‘incentives’  are part of the ESSA mandates for workforce-based education. On Page 17 of the Law, it is plainly stated that ALL education must be post-secondary readiness aligned as per the WIOA definition of ‘readiness’. That definition?! “Career and College Ready” (which is another name for Common Core and Career Tech Education). However, instructors, the strings by which you may earn these ‘incentives’ is hardly worth the price. Expect more monitoring of your student’s contributions in class; group based projects/group collective grades; their behaviors and attitudes (College and Career Ready calls it SEL, social emotional learning); expect that you will have to jump through more hoops than ever to be qualified to teach, but NOT how you wish to lead, but by a contrived system. As part of the re-writing of the HEA, expect more of this kind of micro-management of your schools. Consider, if your school loses accrediation for lack of credentialed leaders or enough graduates, you may be out of a job.
(Remember, as a post-secondary educational institution, public, private, or for-profit, your largest funding stream is CTE money based on students from ages 5-17, regardless of what school they attend.)

4) How does a student become Career and College ReadyCareer Tracks!  Assessments! These do not only show up in traditional K-12th grade schools. They are present in early college programs, trade schools apprenticeships, dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, AP courses and IB courses. All of which are accessed by ALL education choices, including home education. Any extra curricular STEM program is also part of the Career Tracking and Assessments.

Some of the companies here love CTE and Career Pathways. They also are unabashedly supportive of CC aligned citizens.

Teachers/leaders, do not be surprised if you see an increase in the number of tests your students must take. Look out especially for the assessment called “WorkKeys”. If a student hasn’t received it in a K-12th grade institution, it may be an added requirement at your school, given upon admissions. “WorkKeys” is most definitely a Common Core/CTE alignment tool to groom students for their career tracks. These tests do not take into consideration talents or desires of students. Whatever skill -based results the WorkKeys gives, is what your student’s education will be streamlined to. Look for buzzwords like “personalized learning” or ‘personalized instruction’. These are ‘code’ for data mining, career tracking algorithms for both teacher and student.

Questions for Reflection:
Is this why I wanted to teach? Is this how I wish to continue to teach? Will the cost of college, career schools continue to increase? If so, how much of MY tax dollars will be used? Will these dollars be used as I choose? Since I receive a portion of these tax dollars as my salary, am I okay with this shift in education?
If I stay in my teaching position, how can I fight this overreach in my school?  Is my stance helping promote this kind of governmental control to succeed, or, is there a way I can strike an effective blow?

CTE teachers/leaders, if you have any questions, need more information, I urge you to contact me as soon as possible. I am available here, on my blog.

The Best For The Worst

Welcome back, my fellow Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warriors!

I’ve returned home after a bittersweet journey. That said, let’s dive in, shall we?!

In playing ‘catch up’ on the latest education news, I found this ‘lovely’ rotten apple:
The CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) has been given an award for being one of the BEST non-profit groups in our nation!

If you missed this news, it is no surprise. It was announced on the CCSSO’s Press Release Page on 4/1/17 (aka: April Fool’s Day). CCSSO’s Twitter account waited to ‘tweet’ the news the same day as the first ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) deadline expired. In fact, if you use Twitter and wish to see all the ‘cheering tweets’ CCSSO gave each State as they ‘lined up’ for ESSA (per the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s website), find them here.

Warriors, I hope you see not only the irony of the dates used, but the groups involved. It’s been known for quite some time how tied to the CCSS Machine the CCSSO is. The same is true for the U.S. Dept. of Education, too.

So, what group(s) are involved in recognizing the CCSSO as ‘one of the best’?

The NonProfit Times:

First, here’s a quote from the CCSSO Press Release about the “The NonProfit Times”: “This is the second year that CCSSO made the list of 50 organizations recognized. The NonProfit Times partnered with Best Companies Group, Inc. on this report.”

What we need to know about the NonProfit Times is this: It is a publication of the BridgeTower Media group. BridgeTower Media uses its’ research arm, the Best Companies Group, Inc., for ’employee satisfaction’ data collection.

Crossing Over On A Bridge:

BridgeTower Media is the business arm of GateHouse Media: “BridgeTower Media is the business-to-business media division of Gatehouse Media, the largest publisher of daily newspapers in the United States.” Source

However, Warriors, BridgeTower is a ‘rebrand’ in business news! See below:

See the rest of the article.

Enter The Warriors:

So, how does this involve what we are experiencing in classrooms? Why as an Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warrior should I take notice?

1) Technology is really big deal in modern education. Technology means data collection, sharing, and, power. Power for those who capture it/loss of power in our privacy. So, apply the following in that context.

SoftBank has a “Vision Plan. Technology is the root of the Plan. Also involved in the “Plan” is Saudi Arabia. The Plan includes increasing globally led AI (Artificial Intellegience). Apple, Inc. has already jumped into the Plan. Apple, Inc. is also part of the CCSS Machine’s overreach into educational settings.

GateHouse Media is considered America’s largest publisher of daily news. GateHouse, thus has tremendous influence in our local areas. Consider this, the single largest investor (Fortress Investment Group, LLC)  in GateHouse Media was sold to a Japanese based investment group (SoftBank Group Corp.) earlier this year!

2) Warriors, a globally based investment group has been able to get their collective foot further into our American doorways by making such a move. The evidence for globally-led influence in American education is becoming stronger every day.

3) Notes: Technology-based education was given the go-ahead with the passage of WIOA (2014’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), STEM Act of 2015 (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act, 2015). Technology based education in the HEA (Higher Education Act, 2008) will most certainly received the ‘go-ahead’ for streamlined education when it is re-authorized.

Current leadership in D.C. is ‘hell-bent’ on expanding technology, especially in classrooms. A huge portion of federal funds has been earmarked for technology purchases and upgrades via ESSA.

So, how does all this tie back to the CCSSO’s ‘award’?!

You have a  massive global group with plenty of CCSS Machine ties congratulating ANOTHER CCSS Machine member for being a best ‘non profit’ group. Non profit groups have been used for years to usher in the education reform.

We are on a  fast track set for meeting the U.N.’s global education goals as written out in the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)!

Technology will render ‘school choice’ a thing of the past. ESSA’s implementation will render true ‘school choice’ as a thing of the past.

Warriors,  the CCSSO should receive no reward for anything it does.  By the acknowledgement as one of the best places to work, according to the NonProfit Times, those employees are rubbing our noses it what they do for the CCSSO. Helping lead the way in un-Americanizing education.

There is a place for CCSSO and every other CCSS Machine member group.  It’s called “Traitors Gate”.

The Wannabees

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, look closely at the example family above. Chances are we know several families like the “Wannabees”. I chose this fictitious name on purpose. You’ll understand why by the end of this article.

Warriors, how many of us choosing to fight for our educational freedom are also just like the “Wannabees”?

Day in, day out, we are informing everyone we can about the CCSS Machine’s grasp on education. But, what ARE we telling our own families?!

If your family is like mine, there are members who have not only opened their minds to what is going on in education, but who are helping inform others. Then, there are others, who see there’s a problem, but do nothing or very little, hoping it’ll all just go away. Then, the last set of family members just think I’m crazy.

However, my heart breaks just as much when I talk to my adult children about their educational/job futures as it does when I’m talking to others about their younger children. Truth be told, it breaks their hearts to see their futures in so much jeopardy.

Some of us, as Warriors, have dedicated years to teaching. We’re old enough to know that quality American education used to allow someone like the littlest “Wannabee”  (above) to dream about what she WANTED to be when she grew up. Some of us, as Warriors, have seen the benefit of quality education allowing for the “little Wannabees” to carry out what they were excited to do.

In the modern education CCSS/CCR/CTE/STEM* setting, our “Little Wannabees” will become what a skill based assessment prescribes. (*Note: CCSS, Common Core State Standards; CCR, College and Career Readiness; CTE, Career Tech Education; STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)

Some of us have started and didn’t finish, or, have completed educational degrees in the past. We now find that for whatever reason we wish to finish what we started, or want to add on to that completed degree. We’re like “Mom Wannabee” (above). The ugly reality is, even Mom will have to go through CCSS aligned placement tests and/or skill based assessments to properly ‘place’ her in the correct courses. Likewise, “Dad Wannabee” faces this same sort of regimented steps in his job training required to further his career.

How did all this happen? It wasn’t overnight and it’s not just one law. From the federal level, as you’ve heard and read my research before, WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) had to be passed first. However, before WIOA, Common Core and STEM had to be implanted. That way, when WIOA DID pass, all the strings were secure. When ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) passed, those ‘strings’ became ties that bind ALL of us to the education/workforce reform.

So, have you picked up on why I chose to spell ‘wannabe’ like ‘Wannabees’? If not, look below:

Warriors, look closely, there’s no choice in the bee colony. Frankly, like the bee colony, our fictitious “Wannabees” family, is finding that their lives are becoming LESS about what they want/desire/choose and MORE about what to do to conform to the system controlling BOTH education and jobs.

Warriors, if you’ve not seen this type of situation in your home, do know, it IS coming. Look at the picture, note the side of the bee hive which has been filled in; that’s the part of our American education system (regardless of ‘choice’) already being controlled!

Frankly, the education reform at the will of the CCSS Machine, has very LITTLE left to control and reform. This is regardless of who serves us in D.C., at our State Capitols, or in downtown!! That ‘little’ bit? The HEA (Higher Education Act), is up for re-authorization very soon.

So, why did I introduce you to the “Wannabees”? Because we must know HOW to talk to our students of ALL ages about how to navigate this all consuming/controlling system! We must know what to say to ALL those in the job market about how to work well, but to not be conformed to the all consuming/controlling agenda. Is this type of conversation even possible?!  Absolutely! Think of it this way, if there is bad news to be told, isn’t it much easier to bare if it’s delivered by those closest to you, whom you trust?!

Warriors, we simply MUST lead our fellow citizens to solutions. We’ve led them to credible evidence proving the problems.

So, here is a short list of how we, as those opposed to federally controlled education for workforce and the economy’s sake, can help others (and even our own families) seek solutions:
1) Get involved in education, the labor force, the community’s plans to unite both.
2) Realize the problems in education for workforce/economy will continue to be there…and increase.
3) Be purposed to remain as free of a thinker as possible.
4) No matter what age student, arm them with enough knowledge they can spot the education/workforce/economy conformity a mile  away. Depending on age, mental capabilities, etc., we need to respect that. Too much truth overwhelms when given all at once. To lay a great foundation of truth, it must be a consistent, long-term approach.
5) Protest appropriately.
6) Ask for alternative ways to apply for something or be tested.
7) Is the job training aligned to all the educational reform, a mandatory item or is it up to you to choose?
8) If possible, remove your younger students from the system for as long as possible. In the meantime, exercise #4 to create a super strong foundation.
9) Know the funding trail joining education to labor on the federal, state, and local levels.
10) Know your Constitutionally protected education and labor rights. No matter what reason they are being attacked, you do NOT have to conform!

Lastly, should we grieve for our students? Absolutely. It is appropriate to take a time to mourn their loss of free will. It is appropriate to mourn the loss of American freedoms we are witnessing. However, we should not grieve long. Why? We can get lost in that grief. Getting lost means getting side-tracked. Warriors, we CANNOT become side-tracked in our goal to remain as free as possible.

Summer Salad

I was recently asked by a fellow anti CCSS Warrior and Research expert how the CCSS Machine has been so successful in its march to align our nation’s education to a massive agenda NOT of our choosing.

From what each of us has found, it is enough to make our heads hurt. Trying to get others to understand? Well, we were struggling for a way to get the points across while remaining true to the evidence. We summarized it with this, the far left leaning politicans and groups have the funding, the far right leaning politicans and groups have the laws. In the middle? Those of us wanting the truth. Those of us sick to death of the overreach by BOTH sides.

Since that conversation with my dear friend/Warrior, I wanted to challenge myself to see if there was a simple, yet effective visual which embodied our chat.

Above, is the results. As the informed anti CCSS Machine Warriors, we can share WHAT is happening with our fellow citizens who have not yet seen how decieving ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) truly is. We can share this visual to help remind the seasoned citizens and patriots who stand with us.

Why a ‘Summer Salad’?

1) It is hot outside, or about to get hot. When we are hot, our tempers are shorter. An anti CCSS Warrior with a temper, is a force to be reckoned with.

2) Summer veggies are plentiful, so are the anti CCSS Warriors.

3) Most of the layers of a summer salad, have seeds. Seeds can represent the anti CCSS Warriors truth/facts/research. Planted in the right locations, these seeds yield tremendous results!

4) When you factor in the massive amounts of money ONE side of the CCSS Machine has poured into ‘growing agenda filled products’ (produce) and combine it with the massive amounts of supportive legislation from the OTHER side of the CCSS Machine, you have a ‘recipe for demise’.

The screen shot above, shows you how this has been assembled to resemble what we THINK is a great and healthy summer ‘treat’.

5) Summer is the prime time the CCSS Machine will crank up the PD (Professional development), the Conferences (where the latest and greatest technology, resources, and curricula can be found), the extra curricular activities and camps, and more!
Each and every one of these will LOOK, TASTE, and FEEL fresh, bright, new, different, and LOCALLY GROWN, but alas, dig deeper. Suddenly, your tasty, layered salad becomes rotten. A bitter top-down taste has been left in your mouth.
Warriors, the CCSS Machine is getting desparate to disguise what we have come to know as CCSS and ‘dress it up’ as ESSA. As the full implementation date of ESSA gets closer, you will see ‘bumper crops of crap’ produced. You will see pro-ESSA webinars, products, services, and propaganda flood your lives. WIOA, and the HEA, as well as other laws have been treated in the same fashion.

The CCSS Machine has mistaken us Warriors as ‘dumber than dirt’. Why else would they work so hard to decieve so many? They assume we will not dig into their deceptions; they think we will not know the ‘produce’ from the ‘weeds’ (or that we will take the time to look at the ‘weeds’ planted to distract us).

Wickedly, the CCSS Machine has placed ‘master gardeners’ in our  midst who look like ‘Warriors’, but who, in fact, are  CCSS Machine members themselves. All the while deceiving us daily with their influence, subjective research, and lies.

Lastly, the CCSS Machine is working over time to promote ‘locally grown’ education as a reality with ESSA and all the rest of the legislative strings to the other laws. Pure compost we NOT feed upon!

Coming this Summer:

Use this link to see a presentation geared for ‘ESSA compost’ by pro CCSS Machine member organization, ‘Education First’ for all States. Note the Summer dates included. See which States are already ‘farming for ESSA’.

If your State has not already had a slick CCSS Machine member/organization presentation given to your legislators about how great a ‘producer’ ESSA will be in your  State’s college/career ready economy, you might want to see this one given in Feb. 2016 to the NC Legislators by Jeb Bush’s ‘Foundation for Excellence in Education’:

Over 1, 000 Summer 2016 Educational Conferences will be held (or have just wrapped up) across America. These Conferences encompass ALL educational choices!

Look closely at who the main speakers are; find out what workshops are available and look into the leaders guiding you through them; research the sponsors, and the exhibiting vendors.

I bet you my bag of fertilizer, CCSS Machine member organizations and representatives will be at EACH and EVERY one..spreading false rhetoric all the while. See: http://www.eventsinamerica.com/trade-shows/education/general/date/100000/

So, Warriors, will you be there?! If so, buy someone a salad, and share the truth.

ESSA Ties to WIOA 2014 and New Citizens

Anti CCSS Warriors, you know you have heard me on the air and read my blog where I have stated several times that the WIOA of 2014 (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014) has embedded in it 21 different times the phrase ‘Career Pathways’. More recently you have heard me state, as well as read the research, how the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has the WIOA tied to it AND the “Career Pathways”. For the published articles, see

So, have there been any NEW revelations which we can use to continue to trace the continued overreach of egregious standards in American education? I do believe there are!

Enter, the National Skills Coalition(NSC):

Now, if you have followed my blog long you know I exposed the NSC’s ties to all things Common Core months ago. But, if you missed it:

So what was the NSC’s reaction to the WIOA?
I was able to find this document, where the Coalition was more than thrilled over the passage of this 2014 law. But why am I bringing it up now?
Patience, Warriors, you know how the CCSS Machine loves to lead us places which they think we won’t connect.

In a June 2015 document titled “Comments on the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs)”
It is important to point out that the focused group of this document are those new to American and have very limited skills as a result.
These new Americans are going to be facing the same educational alignment that our natural born citizens face. Remember, CCSS (Common Core State Standards), and its counter-parts of Career Pathways, College and Career Readiness (and so on) respect NO ONE!

Here is an excerpt from the 2015 report:
“Results from the international Survey of Adult Skills indicate that there are approximately 12 million working-age immigrants in the US who have limited English language, literacy, or math skills. Many of these individuals are already working, but need greater skills in order to advance in the workforce.”

Did you catch the CCSS ties, Warriors? What 2 subjects have we been repeatedly told CCSS is located? (which we know is as false as the screen door on a submarine) Math and ELA (English Langauge Arts)!!

But wait, there is more from this report you need to read, “The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), passed in 2014, includes a number of important changes that have the potential to help states and localities aid eligible immigrants in improving their skills, pursuing education and training opportunities, and strengthening their ability to find family-sustaining employment. These activities are critical in fostering the three pillars (linguistic, civic, and economic) of immigrant integration articulated by the Department of Education’s Networks for Integrating New Americans initiative, and reaffirmed in the recent White House Task Force on New Americans plan.”

The report goes on from here in detail about the proposed rules that need to be made so the federal government could guide state governments in all the areas the implementation of a workforce based education should go! Why is this important NOW? State funding formulas will be re-configured thanks to the ESSA, as well as the WIOA! The WIOA state funding has had a bit of a lead in each of our states, the ESSA’s funding jumble will be coming soon. You will also see in this report that for the first time states are to report to the federal level, any state plans which involve WIOA in 4 key areas. Those areas include accountability, job centers, and more.

Have you noticed that the language of the ESSA will have the states submitting education plans to the U.S. Secretary of Education for approval? Are you seeing the pattern, Warriors? I must share that the WIOA is to impact every citizen seeking a job in America, not just the newest residents! So, combine your state’s job seekers, the state funding, add in CCSS via its Career Pathways, etc. and you can tell where this is headed, right? Would you believe there is more?! To read the NSC Report: 2015-06-WIOA-draft-regulations-immigration-comments

To see what more that we can find out, read on!
ESSA and the New Citizens:

The ESSA has the following phrases in reference to the newest Americans (ie: immigrants). {Note: I am not sharing the Career Pathways or WIOA references, as they are already supplied in my previously published articles above.}

Page 2 reveals Sections 3001-3004 (these sections begin on page 408 and follow from there) will break down what alignments, accountability, etc. will be taking place in education and services related. I found on page 409, under the Section 3001 and “Appropriations”, the following figures of the tax dollars up for grabs by the states and awarded by the federal government for this express purpose, “(1) $756,332,450 for fiscal year 2017;  (2) $769,568,267 for fiscal year 2018;(3) $784,959,633 for fiscal year 2019; and (4) $884,959,633 for fiscal year 2020.” Page 410 will show you how the ELLs (English Language Learners) will have to meet those ‘challenging state academic standards’, too.’

Skip down to section 3115 (page 421) , however and you will find that all schools will have to jump through a hoop or two to reform education so that no child will be excluded. How? Through ‘sub grants’ to eligible entities as long as they are educating students in ELA to the tune of ‘challenging state academic standards’!

To achieve this, there are 4 purposes which must be met: a) Developing and implementing new language instruction educational programs and academic content instructional programs for English learners and immigrant children and youth, including early childhood education programs, elementary school programs, and secondary school programs.” b) Carrying out highly focused, innovative, locally designed activities to expand or enhance existing language instruction educational programs and academic content instructional programs for English learners and immigrant children and youth. c)Implementing, within an individual school,  schoolwide programs for restructuring, reforming, and upgrading all relevant programs, activities, and operations relating to language instruction educational programs and academic content instruction for English learners and immigrant children and youth.” d)  “Implementing, within the entire jurisdiction of a local educational agency, agencywide programs for restructuring, reforming, and upgrading  all relevant programs, activities, and operations relating to language instruction educational programs  and academic content instruction for English learners and immigrant children and youth.” Skip down to page 426 and you can see how the entire family is to involved in ‘effective education’.

Above only shows the ELA portion of what the ESSA has in store for us. The math is there, as well, it has to be, right?

We have had quite the connect-the-dots article here! As I have shared, I will keep digging through this new law and continue to share what I can find which is set to transform our nation.

FTF: This Just In: Military Bases, Economy, and, CCSS

A new pro CCSS report filled with the pro CCSS side’s version of truth is now available for we, the warriors, against CCSS.

The book was announced on Twitter by the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers), Dr. June Atkinson, on July 6th, 2015. See below:

I’ll be sure to post the link so you can access the latest ‘news’, but first, I want to share another report about military families and CCSS. My fellow anti CC Warrior, LadyLiberty1885, pointed out this report from Pioneer Institute. Here’s the lead in sentence: “Study finds college and career readiness focus of Common Core a disconnect with students from Military Families since majority are under seven years old.”  If you’d like to access more about the not surprising statement OR read the rest of the Pioneer findings, visit: http://pioneerinstitute.org/education/new-report-the-successes-and-challenges-of-educating-military-connected-children/

It’s amazing to me how the CCSS Machine and its operators will try to spin everything possible towards keeping the Common Core. Dr. Atkinson, especially. So why is she offering up the latest information about CCSS and the economy? Timing, my fellow warriors. With all the hub-bub in D.C., it makes sense to have one high profile, well known CCSS supporter suddenly ‘reveal’ a little known benefit to keeping CCSS.. boosting the economy of military bases..which indirectly boosts America’s economy. Alas, my warriors against CCSS, what have we discovered time and time again in this war? Economics is one of the major goals for the CCSS Machine, not an academic education!

The Military Base Economy Author:

This report is written by Matthew Leatherman, of NC. He’s a non resident fellow of the Stimson Center (more about them in a bit) as well as “Matthew also is active on national defense issues at the state level in North Carolina. He has been a special correspondent for the Raleigh News and Observer’s opinion page for four years. Matthew also is an independent adviser to the US Global Leadership Coalition’s North Carolina project, the University of North Carolina’s Citizen Soldier Support Program, and the Chamber of Commerce in Fayetteville, Fort Bragg’s host community.” To see his entire ‘expert’ biography,

Every one of this groups is either tied to the CCSS Machine, helped form it, or, makes it their business to ‘sell it’ to the USA as a ‘good thing’. So, not only do you have one of the chiefs of the CCSS Machine revealing new information, you have a well connected CCSS supporter writing the information up. Excuse me, haven’t we had enough subjectivity about CCSS? Objectivity is something the CCSS Machine can’t handle, folks! The CCSS Machine’s tactic is eerily like Jack Nicholson’s character stated in “A Few Good Men” :

“You Can’t Handle the Truth!”

Warriors, take heart. We, as opposed to the CCSS Machine have been quite successful at not only handling the truth, but exposing it on a daily basis!! As long as the CCSS Machine continues to dis-serve our nation with their lies spun as truth, we WILL handle it. Why? Because we possess some things the CCSS Machine left in the dust years ago….
  Honesty, Integrity, and Justice

The New Report:

Titled, “The Army Goes to School: The Connection Between K-12 Education Standards and the Military Base Economy”, June 2015. Stimson (the group Leatherman wrote this for) is offering a free download of the report. Get yours, http://www.stimson.org/images/uploads/research-pdfs/ArmyGoesToSchool.pdf

Here’s who helped fund this report, “A grant from the New Venture Fund made this project possible. Stimson was fortunate to partner with the Collaborative for Student Success, a “non-profit organization consisting of a diverse group of regional and national education foundations committed to improving public education.”

Great, more subjectivity for the CCSS Machine. What do I mean? Here’s a brief look at Stimson, New Venture, and the Collaborative for Student Success.

Stimson: Founded in 1989, the Stimson Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution devoted to enhancing international peace and security through a unique combination of rigorous analysis and outreach. The Centerʼs approach is pragmatic — geared toward providing policy alternatives, solving problems, and overcoming obstacles to a more peaceful and secure world.” Funding for Stimson? A mix of public and private organizations which include pro CCSS supporters the Carnegie Foundation and the United Nations. You’ll need to see what other groups are funding to believe it. See: http://www.stimson.org/images/uploads/Stimson_Funding_Report_2014.pdf

New Venture Fund: “The New Venture Fund (NVF) works to achieve a healthier, more equitable world. Our work spans a range of issue areas to realize social and environmental change.”  Here’s more, “The New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity, supports innovative and effective public interest projects. NVF was established in 2006 in response to demand from leading philanthropists for an efficient, cost-effective, and time-saving platform to launch and operate charitable projects.”
Funding for NVF? A major long term funding organization is the Gates Foundation. When I searched the grant data based provided on the GF website, I got 62 different grants tied to the NVF. That’s just one pro CCSS backer (and not to mention one of the biggest backers). See: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database#q/k=New%20Venture%20Fund

Collaboration for Student Success: “The Collaborative for Student Success is a grant-making initiative created with the pooled resources of a diverse group of regional and national education foundations deeply committed to improving public education. The members of the Collaborative share the belief that the successful implementation of the Common Core State Standards is an important next step in ensuring that all students are prepared to succeed at college level work. The mission of the Collaborative is to support the state-led efforts of State Education Agencies and local education organizations responsible for educating and informing all stakeholders — parents, students, teachers and community leaders — about the new state standards and assessments.”

Members? Among them are the NEA, the AFT, Gates Foundation, and the Carnegie Foundation. To see all the members, http://forstudentsuccess.org/about/
It’s rather obvious how the Collaborative is funded, however, to be thorough, http://forstudentsuccess.org/resources/faqs/ (*Note: scroll down to the appropriate question/answer)

Other CCSS Nuggets From Leatherman’s Report:

1) “Communities that host Army bases should take heed of this powerful message from General Odierno, which otherwise might sound like an ordinary endorsement of good schools. Many of these communities have a deep economic dependency on military wages. Losing soldiers and their wages for any reason, including because of shortcomings in their schools, would push the economies of host communities sharply downward. In this sense, the Army’s impact is similar to other major employers, and the potential for transfers within its future workforce of 420,000– 450,000 men and women could reshape the economic landscape of cities and regions.”

2) “The Army has completed the evaluation of local schools General Odierno promised in the family forum 18 months ago. This review — known as the WestEd study — will recognize those communities that meet the Army’s baseline education standards and identify those that do not.”
Related: The “Military Times” article about the WestEd Study shared the results of military kids on CCSS were ‘average’. See: http://www.militarytimes.com/story/military/benefits/2015/07/01/study-shows-mixed-results-quality-of-schools-military-children-attend/29566721/
WestEd is ‘all in’ with the CCSS Machine. Here’s their website, http://www.wested.org/ (*Note: see how quickly you can identify all the ways in which WestEd loves CCSS)

3) “The only comparable nationwide academic standards today are the Common Core State Standards, which cover mathematics and language arts. The Pentagon decided in June 2012 to use Common Core standards in the schools it runs on military bases.  Meanwhile, a majority of states overall have adopted Common Core, but states that host the Army’s bases have varied in the decision whether to adopt these standards. Missouri and North Carolina, for example, have adopted Common Core, though both state governments have taken action to reconsider this decision. Texas, which hosts nearly 80,000 soldiers at bases like Fort Hood and Fort Bliss, has never adopted common standards, neither has Virginia nor Alaska which boast major installations such as Fort Lee and Fort Wainright, respectively. Oklahoma, home of Fort Sill, initially signed up for Common Core, but then reversed the adoption of the standards.” (*Note: did you spot all the pro CCSS truths, which are the anti CCSS warriors examples of their web of lies?)

Some Anti CCSS Military Truth They Can’t Handle:

Lastly, the CCSS Machine can’t handle that many of us warriors against CCSS, have uncovered, researched, and reported the real truths about the military and Common Core. I offer you, my previously published article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/16/tech-thursday-common-core-military-special/ (includes more on the Collaborative for Student Success and U.S. State Dept. documents)
An excerpt from my 3/20/15 article about elected officials and CCSS which is suitable for today’s context,

“The entire debacle is un- Constitutional! It’s a domestic enemy! Every time you continue to allow Career Tech Education, rebrands of CCSS, Career Pathways, Workforce Education, high stakes assessments, textbooks that are rewritten to teach America is a hostile nation, YOU are the domestic enemy! Instead of keeping your oath to do all you can to protect, you’ve replaced it with a pledge to the CCSS Machine (all those fund, create, and continue to purport CCSS) The fact that federal funding has been accepted to help further align has happened of each of your ‘watches’ in office! How is that protecting the people OR defending the Constitution?!

Here’s, my version, of the pledge you’ve sacrificed us all for:

“I pledge my allegiance to the Core and to the deterioration for which it exists.
I have pledged my support to the degrading of my people which CCSS ensues.
That being one way to learn, for all, indivisible and rigor for all.”

WYBI: Job Development Grants and CCSS?

Known by a bevy of names, let’s see what we can learn today about CCSS and job development investments grants. Are they only in NC (where I first learned about them) or are these in other states? If so, what are the educational implications?

Some of the companies here love NC. They also are unabashedly supportive of CC aligned citizens.
Some of the companies here love NC. They also are unabashedly supportive of CC aligned citizens.

The Name Game:

As knee deep into CCSS as NC is, I wasn’t too terribly surprised to find one more ‘cutesy’ name to identify yet another grab at jobs and the economy..but is all this tied to education? If so, how? The first name I came across was JDIG, standing for “Job Development Investment Grants”. All the information about JDIGs wasn’t on a JDIG website. No, all the information I found was on a site called “Thrive in NC”. (see: http://www.thrivenc.com/incentives/financial/discretionary-programs/job-development-investment-grant) Now, if you look at the top of the website page, you’ll see the Economic Development Partnership of NC’s name. We’ll come back to the EDP of NC in a little bit. First, what is a JDIG? According to Thrive’s website description, it’s a program embedded in the NC General State Statutes. That means it’s a law that’s been decided upon by the GA (General Assembly) via voting.

So, what’s the law when it comes to JDIGs? In a nutshell, here’s what NC Legislative Study found and  has laid out per § 143B-437.50:
1) It’s state policy that NC generate jobs, keep the economy boosted via expanded industries already here and attracting new ones. What we’ve seen via the CCSS/CTE agenda in relation to this is that to accomplish this: anything goes.

2) Not content with keeping NC focused, part of the law is tracking international and national jobs, economic growth as well. Yep, in all things CCSS/CTE, we must be ‘cookie cutter’, workforce ready drones.

3 and 4) Since the economy is changing, re-evaluting how industries are attracted is vital. To accomplish this ‘certain programs’ must be updated. (No specifics here, of course) Also, because of all this updating, not only will citizens be better off, so will the ‘political subdivisions’. With CCSS/CTE firmly in place, states have lost their backbone and sacrificed their U.S. Constitution based 10th Amendment power.

Statute § 143B-437.51 defines all that is in the preceding Statute. You’ll want to note what types of industries, and/or businesses can qualify for the JDIGs. CCSS/CTE groups especially like non-profits to ‘hide’ behind. NC’s Statute includes non-profits. (*Note: this is not to suggest all non-profits are CCSS/CTE aligned, nor are all businesses, industries.) This statute also includes community economic development boards..and we know how integral these are with Chambers of Commerce. Remember, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce received millions from the Gates Foundation for the express purpose of selling us the CCSS/CTE. Each state has been privy to those funds. Look at how hard NC’s Chamber promotes CCSS/CTE. (*Note, my fellow NC resident and anti CCSS warrior, Lady Liberty 1885, has the entire soap opera like drama extremely well detailed on her blog. See: http://ladyliberty1885.com/2015/03/12/foia-nc-chamber-pushing-asrc-to-consider-rebrands-like-florida/ )

Statute § 143B-437.52 is the one which explains how the JDIGs will work and will also include the Attorney General of NC. So, in lay man’s terms, any qualifying business or industry meets with the NC Economic Council and the State AG to determine HOW the growth of jobs (and don’t forget where jobs are, so is education and training) is to be accomplished. (*NOTE: this is my interpretation. I am NOT a lawyer.)

Statute § 143B-437.53 reveals number crunching..as in how many JDIGs in any given area of the state.  It appears too many in one location isn’t the best for NC. Whatever happened to freedom of choice where my business is located? Well, in a CCSS/CTE aligned world, freedom’s an enemy.

So, who makes up the Economic Council which makes a lot of these state wide impacting decisions?? Great question. According to this set of statutes, The Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of Revenue, the Director of the Office of the State Budget/Management, and two private sector appointees from the General Assembly. (*NOTE: this is all NC state level government. You’d have to check your state for JDIGs or similar if you live outside NC. See who’s involved and to what degree.)

To see the rest of the JDIG related Statutes, including how the individual community economic councils are involved, see: 2013-JDIG-TempUpdates What I can tell you is the “Thrive in NC” website page of member community econ councils is like a “Who’s Who in the Hall of Career Tech Education”. Be sure to enlarge the screen shot below.

Here’s a set of Tweets about the “Thrive in NC” marketing strategy from 2011:

To see a more modern sales pitch for trained workforce seekers, see below:

To access more information on JDIGS in NC:

Is There a JDIG in MY State?:

Your state may OR may not use the same title that NC has chosen. I have found one nationally encompassing document that features all the places you can find career development or workforce training grants, especially those ‘under served’ groups of people. See: career_development_grants_for_underserved_populations

You’ll also want to access the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Just last year, 2014, they gave over 50 million dollars to various states and/or schools for workforce job development training programs. See: http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/eta/ETA20141754.htm

If you cannot locate your state’s information from either of the above resources, try it from the U.S. Economic Development Administration angle. after all it’s part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce! See: http://www.eda.gov/
Their Career Tech Education (CTE) list is quite long and involves many states. See: http://search.eda.gov/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&affiliate=eda&query=Career+Tech+Education&commit=Search

Here’s an excerpt from a  stunning report the EDA has. “This report on the Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge (JIAC) program represents one element of the larger effort, and has been produced alongside reports on parallel studies of the i6 Challenge (i6) and Trade Adjustment Assistance for Firms (TAAF) programs.” (*NOTE: here are other named programs you can use to search for in your state!!) To get the entire study so you can find out how careers, clusters, economy, data tracking, and assessment all are interwoven:
EDA-JIAC-Program-Assessment-and-Metrics Oh, and you’ll love this if you live in NC, UNC-Chapel Hill partnered with SRI International to conduct this study project which was completed in 2014.

A few other investment projects you might be able to glean more from, hardly an exhaustive listing, but a start.

AAUW (American Association of University Women), gives career grants, especially if you’re looking for a STEM related career. (*NOTE: STEM is CCSS’s granddaddy. That was revealed in my PCAST, STEM, and CCSS article in late 2014) See: http://www.aauw.org/what-we-do/educational-funding-and-awards/career-development-grants/

Nationwide Workforce Development programs from the Weinberg Foundation. See: http://hjweinbergfoundation.org/program-areas/workforce-development/ (*NOTE: to see their CTE contributions, http://hjweinbergfoundation.org/?s=career+tech+education)

You’ll get plenty of CCSS/CTE agenda with Workforce training from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) See: http://www.epa.gov/brownfields/job.htm

It would appear from all this that not only is education compromised via CCSS, CTE, but our state level economies. Not only will we need to research the educational side of our states, but it appears we’ll need to see where our Attorney Generals, Secretary of Economy, etc. stand on CCSS/CTE.
