A Monumental “Crush”

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, as promised in my last article, a close up look at Maryland’s education system. Remember, Marc Tucker dropped a huge hint about this in that 4/23/19 seminar promoting his new book.
I highlighted his comments about it below:
423roundBefore we get too much further, I wanted to see if MD was about the size of any of the “Tucker approved” Top Performing Countries he’s so convinced we need to copy.

After all, since the CCSS Machine is going to such lengths to make us global, we will need to see what’s in store. Can we find any clues as to HOW Maryland is about to become a national show-off?

Estonia:

I found Estonia is about the size of MD. (Estonia is #2 on the Tucker list). If you aren’t sure about Estonia’s education system, I found out it’s a ministry of the government.
Officially called the Republic of Estonia’s Ministry of Education and Research.
If you’re curious about how their school system works, the Ministry has put together a ‘cutesy’ video.

If you look around their website, a bit, the Estonian Ministry has more information. Like their ‘lifelong learning’ plan.

estlife
Warriors, if you notice, ages 65 and up are not included in this 2020 Plan. Why? Those older than 64 are encouraged to become ‘working pensioners’. According to their plan for seniors, you’ll need to still be a productive and contributing member of society, but the government will provide some of your income. You are still expected to go to school, too.
(If you look in the Estonia 2020 Plan’s definitions, you’ll find out all the difference locations the country counts as ‘schools’.)
The Plan for seniors is NOT a Estonia one, my followers. This ‘senior plan’ is called the Madrid International Plan of Action on Aging (MIPAA). The UN adopted this back in 2002.

Going back to education in Estonia and what possibly could be found in Maryland, ‘the village’ concept is applied there. I didn’t see a school board mentioned once. I did see a village/community based commission. These are designed to keep school creative and learning centered.

You’ll also find that Estonia is big on ‘school choice’. The ‘choice’ is largely funded by the government. Will we find this in Maryland, too? Warriors, we know the federal government, here in the US, is pushing for billions of taxpayer dollars for funding ‘choice’.

Maryland And Estonia:

MDES
Warriors, you’re seeing correctly. MD and Estonia have been partners since the early days following The Cold War.

In 2009, The MEEC (Maryland/Estonia Exchange Council) increased its efforts in education.

(*Note: if you wish to see the long list of overreaches into many school choices the OTHER MEEC (Maryland Education Enterprise Consortium) has, go here.)

Not too terribly long before America was given the WIOA of 2014, (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014), MD and Estonia signed an agreement to mutually share education and workforce programs.

Maryland And Marc Tucker:

Warriors, Tucker, himself, was bragging (just the other day) on how MD is soon to be in the national news.
So, when did he visit MD? EdWeek has a 2017 article Marc Tucker wrote about his appearance in their legislature. His entire point? Revolutionizing education funding for the 21st Century.

In this 2018 Report from the Commission on Innovation and Excellence in EducationTucker’s name appears 16 times. You’ll also see Linda Darling- Hammond and Dr. Chester Finn’s names, too. If you search the over 100 pages, you’ll see that Tucker spoke on every one of his 9 Blocks for Maryland. (see below in “Related Resources”, I illustrated the 9 Blocks). From this Report, it appears the Commission had been meeting since 2016.

In 2018, the Baltimore Sun published an article where the Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education was struggling with how to address ‘at risk’ students. Among the ‘solutions’ was RtI, Response to Intervention. RtI is part of the mental health grab you’ll find in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). Tucker’s name appeared in this article as well.

Also from 2018, Johns Hopkins School of Education published a 16 page report on how flawed Tucker’s system was (and still is). The irony is that Johns Hopkins is also in the CCSS Machine.

The EPI (Economic Policy Institute) heavily criticized Marc Tucker’s earlier workforce based reform system for education. This Report is from 2007.

Below, is a screen shot of the MD Advocates for Children and Youth organization. They featured regular updates on the Commission Tucker was a consultant for. They even have a 2019 Legislative look at all the Commission’s findings which have passed in their State legislature. No wonder Marc Tucker’s excited MD is about the ‘rock the nation’.

3) From MD, their 2018 education accomplishments. If you watched to Estonia video, what you’ll read here, sounds very close. The MEEC (Ed Enterprise) is on Page 21, Estonia is on Page 4, among the countries MD students virtually interact with. The grant for this came from the Humanities arm of the Maryland government. You’ll see here that one county in MD (Montgomery) allotted $25,000.00 in FY 2019 for the Sister States School Linkage Program”. (*Note: look on page 67-11. Does your State have a “Sister States program? Does it have a “Sister Cities” program? DYK?Sister Cities International was founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower as an adaptation of the popular European concept of “twinning” that emerged after World War II. It was established as a way of promoting good will and creating enduring peace between formerly warring countries.’ Source)

5) American Educational Research Assoc. (AERA) interviewed Tucker in 2015 (about a month before ESSA became law) take a look back at his words & compare to where we are now, in 2019.

6) WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) embedded 21 different instances for CTE (Career Tech Education) and its CPs (Career Paths), it also embedded the Dept. of Defense 16 times. Why? Funds for workforce education to be extended to the military.
The same military which, not only, aligned itself to the CCSS Machine, but STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math). STEM is a UN (United Nations) tool to create global workforce, education, and, economy.
How does this impact our topic for today’s article? The National Guard Distance Learning Program is funded through WIOA. The National Guard is also part of the MD/Estonia partnership.

7) If you’ve heard of the ERI (European Reassurance Initiative), it was originally proposed back in 2014. Part of the funding for ERI (which a portion goes to Estonia) is used for ‘support in programs, activities, and assist the government’.

While education is not mentioned, workforce training isn’t either. However, we have no documentation to show HOW the funds are divided, once they get to the intended country. So, the question is: does any of our federal funding go to be used for aligning education and workforce somewhere else to be returned to us in educratic reform campaigns by the likes of Marc Tucker?! Long-time Anti Fed Ed Warrior, Charlotte Iserbyt sounded the “NO! Marc Tucker” alert in this article.

8) From 2015, Marc Tucker’s ‘love’ for Estonia shows his true colors: Russian and Germanic education models. Warriors, read the article, and you’ll see it’s not simply education we should be concerned about, it’s our entire nation. If data mining in education bothers you, read how Estonia’s a master at using all that data.

9) Dr. Karen Salmon celebrated MD’s alignment to global education in this Feb. 2019 update:

salmon

In this Aug. 2018 MD Dept. of Education meeting notes, you’ll see Dr. Salmon’s future plan for use of data on Page 3.

The “Lead Higher Initiative” is in place to create “Next Generation High Schools”.

10) Warriors, any guess as to how much Tucker’s influence in MD’s education will cost the taxpayers (State wide and Nationally)? $725 million dollars…and the Plan is being fast-tracked through the MD legislators.

Closing:

Warriors, that’s it. My two-day look at one of the worst Americans I can happily say I will never meet in person. He is dangerous to our children, to us, and to our nation. We know he is not alone in the destruction of our land. He’s not alone in his quest to kill real education. We’ve got somewhat of a leg up on beating the news Tucker’s been gloating about as ‘the other half of the bigger picture’ in American education reform.

fire
We need to roar, Warriors!

Now, let’s EXPOSE it, so we can steal his thunder. If any of you know someone in MD, let’s get the word to them.

The Set-up: An In-Depth Report

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, our Nation has just been shoved further down the ‘river of the damned’ in education.

How? The U.S. Senate, by a voice vote, passed the U.S. House’s “Strengthening Career Tech Education (CTE) in the 21st Century Act” (HR 2353).

By this passage, HR 2353, now advances to our President. The ‘mad dash’ rushing we are seeing play out? Oh, that’s 100% on purpose. Why? Look at the recent events surrounding this: a “Made in the USA” exhibit, Ivanka’s main stream media blitz, the big showcase of CCSS Machine groups surrounding President as he signed a NEW executive order on July 19th.
So, WHY is all the activity hyping up? Think about the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandate for ALL education to be ‘aligned to post-secondary readiness’. Then, consider the timeline which all was to be in place by: the beginning of the 2018-19 school year.

Warriors, we are quickly approaching the beginning of that ‘academic’ calendar!!

voicevote
(To see the complete list of actions for HR 2353, visit this link.)

Think back, my fellow Warriors, we saw the same ‘rush’ job when it was time for ESSA to become law.

Here’s a timeline BEFORE I show you some of the latest information. The timeline will help you better ‘connect the dots’.

****************************************************************************
A Timeline:

If you’d like to see the ‘sales pitch’ from 2014, where CTE was being pumped up by Congress and the CCSS Machine (it’s the featured shot for this article), here it is in full form:

2014: Where the ‘career clusters’ and ‘career readiness’ supporters and their alignment to Common Core were beginning to surface.

2014: The ‘skills gap’ fallacy begins (so to speak.)
Important note: WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) was made into law in 2014. It specifically tied work/labor to education.

Legislative sessions across America are embracing Workforce.

***********************************

2015: The ‘labor reform’ (aligning education to jobs) hits the HEA (Higher Education Act of 2008).

2015: This duo of articles ties STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) to the WIOA and HEA. As we know STEM is a tool of the United Nations to create global workforces.
(*Note: in 2010, the Obama Administration inserted STEM into education about the same time CCSS rolled into the classrooms. The point? A UN (via the NSF, National Science Foundation) directive: STEM education for STEM people to have STEM jobs to create a STEM economy for greater global good.”)

2015: The career based high schools begin popping up. Dangerous CCSS Machine groups push them out nationally.

2015: This duo gives you a look at the career ‘reassignments’ for adults. The workforce alignment isn’t simply for pre-K to 12th grade, Warriors: Even senior citizens are expected to be aligned!
Important note: ESSA was passed and signed into law by the end of 2015.
ESSA gift*******************************

2016:
By August of 2016, WIOA was well in place, HEA was being discussed to be re-written, and ESSA was just getting off the ground, right? A look back at the truth.

2016: Before Rep. Kline left Congress, he got together with Sen. Alexander one last time to make sure their united efforts would live on in combining academics and workforce.

2016: By the end of 2016, the CCSS Machine was trying to convince us all “CCSS was dead”, that CCR, College and Career Readiness, was the ‘new’ kid on the scene and that our entire communities needed to get on the CCR/CTE ‘bandwagon’.

Back in 2016, the ‘sales pitch set-up’ for America was part of the “Better Way” scheming plan from Congress. Workforce globalism courtesy of Rep. Kline, Sen. Alexander, Rep. Ryan, and more.

To see a more recent Congressional view of CTE from Congress and the CCSS Machine, which shows how well the “Better Way”  ‘sales pitch’ has worked, look below.

2017: The quest for searching out the roots of the UN-directed shift in US education hit ‘pay dirt’ when I uncovered the workforce shifting evidence from Minnesota which dated back to the 1990s! Since, then EVERY State in America has this plan for workforce based learning.

2017: While bills like HR 2353 were getting much attention, here were just a few of the other workforce/education bills designed for complete alignment between education and jobs.

How The Past Has Met The Present:

Warriors, in 2016, I gave you these words, “You CANNOT have CTE without Common Core! No matter who you are. The CCSS Machine has spent years embedding CCSS, CTE (and STEM: Science, Technology, Math, and, Science) into 2 and 4 year colleges, apprenticeships..”

These tentacles embrace EVERY school choice and every citizen.
HOW? The goal is ‘cradle to grave’ workforce. Warriors, we are seeing this play out in present day 2018!!

From the files, is a picture of (then) President-elect Trump’s Plan. Warriors, this is happening right now!

trumpplan

Warriors, the evidence that our President supports CTE is overwhelming. Regardless of how  you feel about him personally, the truth is right before us.

As much as it appears the President is turning his back on us, the Vice President is probably doing some sort of happy dance over the CTE expansion. Why would I say that? Again, evidence speaks, NOT my opinion!

iceburg

The horror and further shoving our nation done the ‘river of the damned’ is that by supporting and expanding CTE, the Trump Administration is supporting and expanding Common Core. Search the archives of campaign rhetoric and you’ll find that supporting and expanding CC wasn’t supposed to be what America got.

Coming To Fruition?!

In 2017, The U.S. Senate brought us a LADDER Act. This Bill was a huge ‘set up’ to globalism workforce AND socialism all in the same ‘place’. How’s that? My article detailed it well. The stark reality, is the most recent (July 19, 2018) Executive Order culled some of the same socialistic bullets from this LADDER! That EO is #13845.

Presidential Slams:

Warriors, note, President Trump is only doing what every other President before him has done:
Used his Administration to grease the wheels of progressiveness, socialism, and Marxism. The ‘selling out’ of our freedoms (via education) will also be furthered by future Presidents and their Administrations.

Thus proving what and WHY the CCSS Machine churns on..we are the cogs which they need to make the wheels turn!

(*Note: The Presidential ‘greasiness’ dates back to the 1930s (and further). See the trail.)

Lady Liberty Weeps 2
It hasn’t mattered who was President or what political party they represent when it comes to ruining real American education. Just look at the timelines which come with all the bogus educratic laws, mandates, and programs: 5 years, 10 years, etc.

For example, HR2353’s impact lasts until at least 2023.
*********************************************************************
Sure, all jobs and skills sound and look great, but our freedom is the intended price we’ll be sacrificing. How? Along with all the CCSS Machine workforce based education (which is WHAT CTE is) comes predetermined career tracks, NOT free choice.
1511175_703966932968744_1083625628_n

The shift being so championed is a UN (United Nations) led one, plain and simple. So, for everyone embracing the expansion of CTE and apprenticeships (which are another global tool in the CCSS Machine’s toolbox), this visual is for you! This is WHAT you are truly embracing.

mullercore
When did ‘reinventing education’ become code for Common Core?

An Older Trump EO Meets A New One:

In 2017, President Trump signed EO (Executive Order) #13801. This Order expanded apprenticeships, especially at the beck and call of P3s (public private partnerships). Ivanka Trump, during her recent press appearances, kept referring to P-Tech (part of the globally led CCSS Machine’s effort to redesign high schools into worker prep factories).
Warriors, remember: ESSA mandated an increase in P3s in K-12 education for ALL school choices!

Warriors, the Task Force which #13801 put into action has been meeting up until recently (2018). It’s job was to come up with ways in which education and jobs were not only ‘joined at the hip’, but the only way to learn. (Remember, the ESSA mandate about ALL education being the same?!) The agenda from #13801 is being carried out in the new #13845 (see the link above).
Here are the 26 Agenda driven ‘suggestions’ from the #13801’s Task Force:

13801

Warriors, #13845 establishes a nation-wide council to oversee and micro-manage not only education, but labor in all 50 States. Does anyone remember that BOTH these federal departments are unconstitutional and therefore ILLEGAL?! The proposed merging of these two as well as the relaxed child labor laws play directly into the expansion of CTE and the apprenticeships!

Lastly, #13845 brings about the shift of education, control, AND, continued loss of individual freedoms! It also brings all the actions of every other related law and program under the thumb of FEDERAL government, not LOCAL control! #13845 brings to life #13801! It INCREASES government!!

Closing:

Warriors, we must note that the CTE overload, the apprenticeship rush, and the alignment intended for every single citizen is NOT only for students, but the teachers, too.

It’s for Johnny and Suzy, Johnny and Suzy’s parents, and, Johnny and Suzy’s grandparents. This shift is also for Johnny and Suzy’s children. I’ve lots more information I need to share, so watch for an upcoming Facebook Live video from me. I’ll be sure to give you all you need to know to resist this!

Betting on Education

Hello, my Anti Fed Ed Warriors! I’m sure you’ve heard of ‘betting on the farm’ (which means you risk everything you have to win a bet or succeed with an investment or organization). I KNOW we’ve seen education bet on in this fashion since the CCSS Machine rolled into the classrooms. If you’re like me, you have fought long and hard to expose the under the table deals; reveal the backroom meetings, and so much more.

Recently, the U.S. Secretary of Education gave a speech where the tone was definitely MORE ‘betting on education’ was woven throughout. If you missed my scathing rebuttal to Betsy DeVos, I’ve included it here, for you. Be warned, Warriors, her speech was written to sound like ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is worthy of sainthood.

Warriors, we know the media loves to help sell lies to us these days, especially when it comes to education. If you look only at the headlines surrounding DeVos’s latest speech, you’ll be misguided in the notion that “Common Core is dead” . What the media leaves out is that her passion and poor leadership will send American children of all school choices to one sad conclusion:

Personalized digital learning is the ESSA way and as such, is the ONLY way to learn

Warriors, we’ve seen tons of research which proves ‘personalized learning’ is a farce. The fact it is continually tied to the digital push also proves that the ‘learning’ isn’t really taking in information. No, the digital personalized learning is all a data mining trap to force your student into a preconceived pigeon hole job.

deludeded

That DeVos is steering the bets on education and has pointed America to MORE Common Core/Career Tech/College and Career Readiness/STEM proves on thing:

The globalization of education will continue on ‘as is’.

Also, because DeVos’s devotion to digitally connected, personalized education seems so ‘pure’, consider this: she, via family business holdings, can literally profit from the use of digital computer and programs in the classrooms. My article from November 2016 shows where those holdings are.

If you have friends and family who are still convinced DeVos is a great champ for American education, show them the article. DeVos nor Trump have done one thing to rid our nation of Common Core. They’ve done everything to ensure the globalization of our nation’s classrooms continues.

heybetsy.jpg

BETT In The U.S. By Way Of The U.K.:

Warriors, I first learned of BETT ( British Educational Training and Technology Show) from an email sent to me by a CCSS Machine group. I was being invited to attend briefing sessions connected to the Conference in London the last weekend of this month (Jan. 2018). Below is a screen shot of the email. The added emphasis is mine.

BETTshops.jpg

If you question BETT’s stance on why it is pushing for digital personalized learning, look below:

BETTUN
Other sponsors and partners include Cisco, Dell, and, Microsoft. Underneath every partner or sponsor is how they are tied to BETT. For example, Microsoft is a ‘worldwide partner’. Because digital and technology pushes across the globe involve the UN/UNESCO, you’ll find STEM and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math; Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and, Math) there, too.

Evidence has also proven that these UN led agenda items were inserted into American education as part of the CCSS Machine’s ‘bet’ in education. The payoff? A STEM people for a STEM workforce who live in a STEM nation with a STEM economy for global good.

BETT is all about bringing together the global education community in the hopes of transforming education. With the ties we see above, is it any wonder DeVos is so hell-bent on trying to convince us digital education on a personal level is the ONLY way to go? It makes sense to me.
UNdatatrack

Closing:

Make no mistake, Warriors, DeVos will keep placing dangerous bets in education supposedly on our children’s behalf. We KNOW she’s totally unqualified to be in such a powerful position. We MUST continue to keep watch and help dispel the damaging misinformation which is coming at us from ALL angles in D.C. We MUST continue to protest against ANY involvement with the United Nations. It’s not enough to pull funding from specific programs and expect all the ties to the UN will go away. The CCSS Machine, along with the UN have been planning total educational upheaval for many, many years.
Folks like DeVos only make it harder to untangle. Those groups the UN is using, like BETT, certainly uphold transforming education from learning to workforce.

Education’s “Cooked Goose”

Warriors, we know education in America can be considered a ‘hot mess’. The state of education in the ESSA Era (Every Student Succeeds Act) could also be referred to as a ‘train wreck’.

For this article, I chose ‘cooked goose’. Why? It’s meaning as a phrase expresses spoiling plans; ruining someone’s opportunities. In other words, succeeding won’t happen.

Warriors, plainly stated, ESSA will NOT give our student success at what THEY want. It is designed to link itself to the WIOA, STEM Act, HEA, and all other related workforce/education laws. (*WIOA: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act; STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math; HEA: Higher Education Act)

Before we point the finger exclusively to Washington, D.C.; we must point it back to the CCSS Machine and it’s association to UNESCO.
************************************************************************************
Yes, before Bill Gates signed that ‘one curriculum for every child’ agreement (2004), there was the UNESCO publication called the International Classification of Standards.
************************************************************************************
The document was used as a basis for a presentation in 2009 by a team of ‘education experts’. Sutton and Golder. What was the point of this team in using a 1997 document?
***********************************************************************************
It was the same thing which prompted Gates to sign his agreement:

By Aligning TECHNOLOGY in EDUCATION, More ALIGNMENT in LIFE

For where’s there technology, there’s data. Where there’s data, there’s money to be made.
Quality education? Left by the wayside, Warriors.
************************************************************************************

Who Are Sutton and Golder?

Dr. Staurt Sutton is from the University of Washington at Seattle
Diny Golder
(aka: Diny Golder-Dardis) is a co-founder of P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Skills) She is also key to JES and Company.
(*Note: the embedded link for Golder is to a 2003 Symposium paper about increasing technology. You’ll see her roles in both capacities mentioned. You’ll also see the U.S. Dept. of Education’s involvement. You’ll also be directed to some external links about the CEO Forum. I was unsuccessful accessing these. However, I did find a 2001 publication by the CEO Forum. It’s cover states it all.)

CEO

Back to Sutton and Golder’s involvement:
Together this team produced 3 white papers together. All 3 were based on increasing technology in our classrooms; for teachers and students. They wrote these 3 papers for the ASN (Achievement Standards Network).

If you’ve not heard of the ASN, it was created by Golder and Sutton with grant money (2 grants) awarded them by the NSF (National Science Foundation), under the JES and Company’s name.

NSF is the group which created the acroynm “STEM” for marketing purposes in education. STEM is a tool used by the UNESCO for pushing the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in education.

Helping expand the ASN was a generous Gates grant award in 2012 to JES and Co.

In 2013, my dear anti CCSS Warrior friend, Donna Garner, published an article tying ASN, Jes and Co. to the CSCOPE (TX’s supposedly not-CCSS educational framework and standards) and the EdGate organization.

donnawork
************************************************************

ASN is now owned by D2L. D2L was founded in 1999 by John Baker of Canada. Today, D2L has some of the biggest CCSS Machine members as partners. Their ‘job’? Tying more technology and education together.)

Other Sutton and Goldar Work:

In 2008, it was a paper on matching education resources to education standards for all the grade levels between K and 12th grade. This document appears to be for the National Science Digital Library. It’s about how to use metadata.
In 2009, it was all about discovering concepts in education via learning objectives. It is in this document they base their findings and solutions off of the 1997 UNESCO Report. (*Note: the 2010 paper they wrote was for Australia’s curriculum and configuring it to RDFs).

SuttonGolderUN
UNESCO:

The 1997 Standards document was updated, just 2 years later (1999). It is in this one where you’ll begin to see the UIS (UNESCO Institute for Statistics) begin to surface.

STATISTICS means DATA; DATA needs MINING to be put into STATISTICS.
*********************************************************************************
Look at the way it’s portrayed on the website:

undata

Look at the reality of data ‘transformation’:

UNdatatrack

Warriors, why would I use ‘track’? Think about it, the technology increases in American classrooms are designed to track progress; to measure mental abilities. These results are then used to track the courses/classess and eventual careers. ESSA, WIOA, and HEA embed it. STEM increases it! There’s another reason I chose the word ‘track’:

pressureon
Warriors, ‘technical’ means technology use, which we know is data. We also know, that technology is part of ‘innovation’. Innovation has been used as a tool to update ‘infrastructure’. Education is being used as a tool to pump up jobs and the economy.

Do we see ANYWHERE in these contrived plots: a child’s desire to become what THEY want? Do we see anywhere how teachers can TEACH without conformity?! NO!

Education’s goose has been royally cooked!

I urge you to read the information from the above screen shot here. It will lay out the indicators by which our students and teachers will be aligned to. It will explain how this data is to be used, and include the GAML (Global Alliance to Monitor Learning). The GAML is doing its own ‘cooking geese’ with assessments and data mining.

Warriors, remember, the SDGs are all to be in place by 2030.

Tying This Back To The American Push for Technology/Data:

Warriors, the way ESSA is written, an huge increase in technology, data mining is in the works. It is because of the foundational shift created in part, by folks like Sutton and Goldar, that we are so far down the path to comply with the U.N.
Sutton and Goldar are hardly alone. We know the CCSS Machine has been infiltrating companies, legislators, and everywhere in between to force us to assimilate into the overall plan to ruin education.

One of the biggest data mining tools which unites education and jobs, here in America are the SLDS and the WQDI (Student Longitudinal Data System and Workforce Quality Data Initiative). These track your student (regardless of their educational choice) from the classroom to their careers…and beyond.

Bees in NC’s Bonnet, Parts 1 and 2

Warriors, we are faced with all kinds of count-downs lately. Thirty-eight days until election; so many days until a new President; count-downs until our holidays, and more.

However, regardless of ALL this counting, day in/day out, our teachers, students, and families are receiving the stinging bites of the busy bee-like CCSS Machine members/groups.

It’s enough to drive us mad. I hope we are not only mad, but as aggressive in fighting back, as the CCSS Machine is cranking out their bitter poison.

As you know, NC is where my home is for now. If you’ve followed my blog long, you know the amount of CCSS Machine alignment bred here.

As far as the picture above, that’s NC’s official state insect. As bee colonies go, there’s always a queen.

Here in NC, her name is Dr. June Atkinson. She’s our State Superintendent (probably counting down the days until she hopes to be re-elected for the umpteenth time) AND the President of the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers). As you well know CCSSO has made no bones about their devotion to the CCSS Machine.

Now that our nation faces a count-down to August 2017 (When all 50 States MUST have ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) implemented), what else is in the NC CCSS apiary?

Part One:
Honey, It’s a Beehive of Deception in NC:

Recently, I was contacted by a very concerned grandparent (Grandma J) who lives west of me in Caldwell County, NC. Her concern? A conversation she had with 3 school board candidates (running for office in Nov. 2016). According to Grandma, all 3 told her that there was absolutely no Common Core in Caldwell, or in NC as a state, for that matter. That Common Core was gone. Grandma’s a Warrior, she’s invited me up to her neck of the woods several times to reveal what my anti CCSS research has found for NC, as well as our nation.

Grandma J also shared that these candidates (up for re-election) do not get to see the curriculum for their county; that they are sent papers to sign (aka: rubber stamp), told pretty much what to do, but NOT get to be a truly LOCAL Board. Well, we can thank Dr. Atkinson for that, but we’d also have to thank legislators. In the screen shot below, look at why I would say this.

Hhmmm…I’m flashing back to a 2014 NC School Board meeting in Cabarrus County (southeast of me). When I revealed credible evidence about the number of assessments truly embedded in what NC schools use, I was called a ‘lunatic’. When I challenged the school board member, what I got was ‘we do what we’re told. If Raleigh says ‘jump’, we jump. We don’t ask ‘where’, we just do it. They do tell us how to jump.’

As being a mighty Warrior, Grandma J has once again called me and asked for help. Grandma J, this is for you to share with them.

Since this one NC County (there are 100 in all) has it mandated to follow all federal and state regulations NOT in the current NC (Common Core) Essential State Standards, guess what this means?

That every piece of legislation already connected to NCLB, RttT, Common Core State Standards, College/Career Readiness, STEM, Career Tech Education, dual enrollment, early College Promise, AP classess, learn-to-earn apprenticeships, on-line virtual public NC Schools is LOCKED in! ESSA will only INCREASE the lock-down! WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) is also not only already in place in Caldwell County, NC, but nation-wide!  WIOA’s embedded in ESSA.

If you’ve traveled anywhere in NC (or in your State) and seen “One Stop Job Centers”, WIOA’s in your town and Common Core/Career Tech, including STEM are in your schools.

This screen shot reveals some eye opening evidence that the ‘NC educational sweet spin’ isn’t telling you the whole truth,

I’ve written PLENTY about how sold out to the CCSS Machine, AdvancED is. You are free to search my blog for the articles, there are that many.

However, let me share with you, an excerpt from their 2013-2014 Annual Report, AdvancED combines the knowledge and expertise of a research institute, the skills of a management consulting firm and the passion of a grassroots movement for educational change. While our expertise is grounded in more than one hundred years of experience accrediting schools, AdvancED is much more than an accrediting agency. Our goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, our commitment is to help schools improve.”

To see their  entire CCSS Machine ‘driven expertise’:
http://www.advanc-ed.org/sites/default/files/documents/AE-AnnualReport2013-14.pdf

Considering the screen shot above and the fact AdvancED is SO devoted to the CCSS Machine that they’ve got ESSA alignment plans going, I fail to see how great this is for NC..or any other State! I wrote extensively about AdvancED, ESSA, and the US:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/06/06/blenders-ready/

For Those Who Are Convinced NC Is Now ‘Common Core Free’:

1) NC DPI where CCSS is plainly stated and is currently in use state-wide:
http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/curriculum/

2) NC State Ed Policies for ‘Global ready’, which is connected to the CCSS Machine:
http://sbepolicy.dpi.state.nc.us/policies/GCS-L-004.asp?pri=01&cat=L&pol=004&acr=GCS /

3) NC DRAFT (literacy), CCSS aligned:

4) NC’s Wikispaces where you’ll see CCSS and Essential Standards. (ES has been passed off as the ‘no CCSS’ in NC)

So there you go, Grandma J, lots to help your local school board see the truth!

Part Two:
NC ‘Bred’, Nation Fed:

These websites will show you how MORE NC bee-stinging, CCSS Machine alignment is going on. If you’d like to see my vast array of articles on other NC CCSS joint efforts, please search the blog.

1) Triangle Universities Center for Advanced Studies Inc.  This NC organization (TUCASI)  has been around since 1975. It’s basically a large park with lots of space for UNC (University of NC), Wake Forest University, and Duke University to combine their efforts for ‘research’. Sadly, every one of these has long since sold out to Common Core in some way. They have no plans, it appears of slowing down.

Since Common Core came to town, TUCASI been busy as a bee aligning all it can. For example, our National Humanities Institute is located here.

Sponsors of this Institute (when you go the website, it states “National Humanities Center”) include some very big CCSS Machine members, including the National Endowment of the Humanities. I exposed the Endowment back in 2015. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/12/rmt-national-humanity-common-core-style/ (*Note: the National Endowment for the Arts has also sold out, but is not NC specific.)

To see the list of CCSS Machine sponsors: http://nationalhumanitiescenter.org/who-we-are/

To see the other research projects of TUCASI: http://www.rtp.org/tucasi/

2) Located in Carrboro, NC is the Advanced Learning Partnerships,
http://www.advancedpartnerships.com/
This group likes to call themselves ALP. They also love to spread their models for educational innovation for K-Higher Ed nation-wide. Leading them is Amos Fodchuk. He’s got a Masters degree and is a “veteran of the high school classroom, Amos is a National Board Certified Teacher (VA, 2006), a Fulbright Scholar and recipient of over 20 awards for educational excellence and innovation.  His range of experience in the development and implementation of innovative, strategic learning models currently supports education partnerships across 25 states.”

You’ll find personalized learning, blended learning, data measuring, and SO much more:
http://www.advancedpartnerships.com/services

If you’ve heard of Districts of Innovation, ALP is into it; if you’ve heard about “ClassTalk” or “Innovators PIE”, ALP is leading it. While I couldn’t find specific partners, I did see Dell Computers joined ALP for ‘blended learning’ in Georgia. See: http://www.advancedpartnerships.com/read-me/

The LIFT Initiative in WA has ALP all over it:

Closing:

Warriors, I hope that regardless of where you live, you can use this information. Grandma J’s got every right to not only be concerned, but seeking help to inform others. Remember, there are some fantastic folks in our school systems. Folks are not our target, the CCSS Machine IS! If you’ve got a fantastic school system member in trouble, you help them; you don’t attack them.

Between my eye opening article about the ICANN’s ties to the CCSS Machine/global angenda to this article, you’ve got plenty of digital/technology stuff to fill Pooh Bear’s Honey Pot several times over. BUT, there’s more. Just released late yesterday (10/3), was the announcement about several internet giants creating a new AI (Artificial Intelligence) Council. Their focus will include education/social justice/technology. Google is among them. Here’s a short video:

Article announcing the Council:

Tech Thursday: Workforce Common Core Style

I love research. I always have and will continue to love it…especially when it leads me to so many off the beaten path locations where Common Core and Career Pathways intersect. Frankly, any place CC and post high school intersect. Why? Because we’ve been fed the line so often of how CC is only K-12! ‘Cow chips and bull feathers’!

Common Core: education's cow chips
Common Core: education’s cow chips

First stop, Work Force, 3 One:

If you’ve not heard of this particular program, it’s okay. As we have learned in researching the CCSS, we have come to know  there are SO many MORE programs, initiatives, agendas, and departments involved in it, that almost daily, we’re finding something new.

This particular project (as I’ll call it) is from, the Dept. of Labor. However, like all the other Career Pathway, CTE (Career Tech Education), or Workforce programs, etc., they are also tied to the U. S. Dept. of Education using Common Core as their tool of choice.  Recently, I shared much of my research with you on this very subject.

So why “Workforce 3 One” ? Let’s see if we can find out. Here’s a snippet from their website,
“Workforce3 One, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration (ETA), is an on-line interactive communications and learning platform designed to build the capacity of the Workforce Investment System. Members include the public workforce system and its strategic partners, such as employers, Federal agencies, community- and faith-based organizations, and educators. Workforce³One supplements other technical assistance provided by the Employment and Training Administration’s national and regional staff to build the capacity of the workforce investment system to successfully meet the employment needs of America’s workforce and employers.” (see the rest: https://www.workforce3one.org/page/about).

Much like any of the connectors to CCSS, there’s a back story. This ‘WF3One’ is no different. In fact, it’s roots come from a Workforce Strategy Center’s  “Building a Higher Skilled Workforce: Results and Implications from the BridgeConnect National Study”.

Support for the Study came from the Joyce Foundation, back in November 2010.

If you aren’t aware, bridge programs, as defined by the Study, “Bridge programs are a 21st-century idea for helping prepare low-skilled individuals for jobs that require more education. Known by many names—integrated education and trainingcontextualized learning, embedded skills—bridge programs assist students in obtaining academic, employability, and technical skills they need to enter and succeed in postsecondary education and training and the labor market”.  The goal? Assisting the student in career track employment, employability, or postsecondary pursuits.

Supporting all this for at least a decade (remember, this was published as ‘new’ information back in 2010) were:  Lumina Foundation for Education, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, Charles Stewart Mott Foundation from the private sector. From the U.S. Federal level, setting policies,  U.S. Dept. of Ed, U.S. Dept. of Labor. From the state policy setting level, IL, TX, WI, WA, and others (not identified) were also key in moving this along.

Nine paths contained in more than any one of the 16 Career Clusters featured in ‘Common Career Technical Core’ (known as “CTE” for short) are named in the Study. For a refresher, those 16 Career Clusters are Agriculture (Food and Natural Resources), Architecture and Construction, Arts (including A/V Tech and Communications), Business Management and Administration, Education and Training, Finance, Government and Public Administration, Health Science, Hospitality and Tourism, Human Services, Information Tech, Law (Public Safety, Corrections and Security included), Manufacturing, Marketing, STEM (Science, Technology and Math), Transportation (includes Distribution and Logistics). Of the states participating, they reported community colleges and high schools were the biggest partners in helping create the bridges. The largest funding source, federal funds under the “Adult Education” (included Family Literacy, community colleges as well as K-12 schools).

Next Stop, “Career Ladder” or “Competency Pyramid”?

Workforce 3 One is SO complete they have on-line tools for you to use to build your career..of course it will be aligned. The first one is the ‘CP’ or Competency Pyramid. The biggest portion of the pyramid is reserved for those things you’ll need to succeed in your school journey (which may involve several) or work and will require you to complete each of the 3 portions: personal effectiveness, academic and workplace competencies. The next set of levels, contains 2 portions of competencies: industry sector and industry-wide. Near the top contains 4 portions: occupational specific knowledge, occupational tech, occupational specific and management. To see how to ‘customize’ your pyramid, visit: http://www.careeronestop.org/CompetencyModel/careerpathway/CPWGenInstructions.aspx

What if you prefer the ladder? Well, that tool bases itself off your pyramid. It details for you the differing jobs available to you in your cluster of career choice. Then, how viable the job will be (as in will always be needed, etc.), how much you’ll earn at said job, how many years or levels of schooling you’ll need. I’ve given you the link for the Healthcare Cluster (as that is the one field tying Affordable Health Care, Workforce, Common Core, and STEM together in a nice big bundle).

GED is the next stop:

If you’ve not heard it before now, know that the GED has been aligned to the Common Core Standards as of 2014. Read about it from my fellow anti CCSS buddy, Lady Liberty1885,  who posted the announcement back in July 2014.

http://stopcommoncorenc.org/common-core-aligned-ged/

The title of this study which is below, “Beyond the GED: Promising Models for Moving  High School Dropouts to College” (published 2014, funded by another set of CCSS supporters, American Council on Education and MetLife Insurance (if you didn’t know “Snoopy’s” Company was into CCSS, here’s a link to my September 2014 article for Prevent Common Core‘s website: http://preventcommoncore.com/?p=1154))”

Beyond_the_GED_FR_0

Named in this study are more bridge projects, as well as the attempt to align Adult Ed to CCSS.

I previously wrote about the community colleges aligning to CCSS, so any adult (remember, 22 or older) attending will be introduced to CC there.

However, it appears more Adult Ed aligning is still in the works (see page ES-6). Courses will be aligned to career tracks, as we well know by now. Where this study is a bit different is it also discusses those concurring credit bearing classes or courses all kinds of students take. OH, I’ve failed to mention that in my research based opinion, the title of the study is very presumptuous. NOT every student who takes the GED is a high school dropout. To suggest such is a sign of misinformation. There is so much in this report, you’ll need to read it for yourselves. Just know you’ll see MORE rigor, MORE streamlining, MORE aligning of outcome based education, and finally, MORE college/career readiness!

Next on the journey, P21:

This entity, Partnership for 21st Century Skills is a busy one. Recently, it’s been popping up almost everywhere I search high and low. Their contributing study for Workforce 3 One is called “21st Century Readiness for Every Child: A Policymaker’s Guide”.  policymakersguide_final

Now, as best as I can tell this report was published in 2010. The rhetoric is ripe with suggestive language eluding to CCSS, but doesn’t name it outright. The cow chips picture from above would fit here nicely, because the level of fertilizer in this report is extremely worthy. Almost from the first word to the last one, the same worn out buzzwords we’ve heard about how we must compete globally, how we need to improve critical thinking and on and on. Be sure you check out the list of Partners:

To name a few well known offenders: Pearson, Scholastic, Crayola, Lego, Walt Disney, Dell.

Last stop, Carnegie Corporation of NY!

Yes, those of us familiar with CC know, sooner or later this company will surface. Here’s their contribution to helping align Workforce to Common Core. “Opportunity by Design: New High School Models for Student Success” First words, I kid you not, are about not only Common Core, but Next Generation Science Standards! (see: http://carnegie.org/fileadmin/Media/Programs/Opportunity_by_design/Opportunity_By_Design_FINAL.pdf) If you live in NY or NC, your state is featured as a success model for early college schools, of course, CC aligned. “The Common Core and Next Generation Science
Standards offer school systems an historic opportunity to reshape themselves to support innovative school designs and replace today’s outmoded, industrial-model secondary schools.” It is further stated that the Standards (both CC and Next Gen) are catalysts for change. This report even uses the ‘pipeline’ reference for students. UGH! If you know anyone who needs more cow chips, load up with this one.

Need a makeover? This report has 10 suggested guidelines designed to makeover schools. I won’t mention all of them, so be sure you read the Report. You wouldn’t want to miss these guidelines: “Be porous and connected”, a fancy way to say community learning centers. “Develops and deploys collective strengths”, sorry, this sounds more like I’m in the military. You’ll see the usual buzz CC phrases here as well.

So, did we ever discover why the strange title for Workforce? I didn’t see a ‘smoking fire’, did you? Well, while we won’t find what the 3 One means from above, there’s a WF 3 One You Tube channel, full of all kinds of information. Here’s one way the ‘ease of use’ for job seeker and employer are sold..all with no mention or hint of Common Core.

As always, have a lead, tip, hint or suggestion, leave a comment (as long as it is civil).

Have a story to share? I can help!

Sic ‘Em Saturday: Google’s Common Core Classroom

Recently, I ‘attended’ yet another webinar connected to Common Core and classrooms. It’s amazing to me just how many on-line meetings have taken place over the past few months with new ways to ‘sell’ the Standards, make them ‘easier’ or how you just can’t live without their greatness..Please, give me a break!

Here are the takeaways I got from the ‘Google Classroom‘, which by the way, is all CCSS aligned!

All the ‘Google Classroom’ programs are FREE!

Paperless & virtual so no one can see your (the student’s) mistakes!

Teacher and students are in the same domain so engaging, eagerness, pride, and confidence can be experienced with richer, deeper meaning and content!

‘Google Classroom‘ is so tech savvy and filled with all the skills needed to prepare for the SBAC assessments (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium)!

Collaboration with other students is suddenly easier and better than ever!

Kids/students can conduct their own research and become better motivated in their free time!

Google Classroom‘ will help the students/kids to NOT focus on a few things they can do really well, it will have them focus on lots of things for seamless assignments and workflow while enabling communication (ditches the traditional homework, classroom work)!

Dell Overview, Twitter, Netflix, and others are all involved as well since 2010!

Can take to college with you, too! As long as you have a Google Education account, your learning never ends!

Teachers can access student data and share it with many others!

Along the same lines:

As I’ve stated before in other posts, in personal conversations, on social media, all you have to do to access FREE aligned games, apps, and toys such as ‘Google Classroom‘ is offering, is to do a simple search on your smartphone. On my android, I can have over 250 apps within seconds. All aligned, designed for and targeting Common Core as ‘fun’, ‘engaging’,  and ‘cute’. However, what about some of the old companies who want in on the CCSS money machine? Like “Leap Frog”, “Think Fun” and many others?

They align as well! “Think Fun” went as far as to change their name, to become more attractive (my opinion) to the CCSS parent or/and student. New name: “Binary Arts”. “Games building 21st Century thinking skills via play.” “Change the world by translating mathematicians, engineers and inventors crazy dreams into simple toys which make STEM more organically possible.” So ‘forward thinking in curricula’ STEaM will be wonderful! (In my PCAST, STEM and CC post, I exposed how STEM is the ultimate agenda riding into our lives via CC ,all, at the current administration’s bidding; STEaM is a newer way to expand that agenda, but that’s a future post)

On “Binary Arts” blog, back in June of 2014, the owner made this statement, “Thinking Sigmund Freud meets Apple Pie.” He also expresses much support for Mr. Gates & the efforts to bring CCSS to us Americans. See blog entry:

Teacher turned toy maker:

(http://www.thinkfun.com/smartplayblog/), former teacher, Tanya Thompson, expresses the importance of changing the world through play. However, listen for the portion of her talk centering around coding being a wheelhouse for education. Look into the SNAP Math Fairs (big supporter is connected to the Canadian Government’s Ministry of Education). While I’ve not researched this to see if this is CCSS north of our border, I do include the link so you can read how the website is using similar language to what we, here in America, are seeing so much of in relation to Common Core(https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/)& HATCH Conferences (http://hatchexperience.org/project/what-is-hatch/). Watch the video, if you like, click on  ‘about HATCH’ and look for the ‘creativity is the common thread’ visual. Then, listen to how many times you can hear ‘change the world’. Intel, Inc. is a big underwriter of HATCH. Intel, Inc. is an ardent defender of CCSS (see: http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/marketplacek12/2013/09/business_execs_fight_for_common_core_before_its_too_late.html)

While I couldn't find a direct link to WHAT education HATCH is promoting, I did find this graphic. Makes you think, doesn't it?
While I couldn’t find a direct link to WHAT education HATCH is promoting, I did find this graphic. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

A couple of loose ends:

Before we part company for the day, I wanted to tie up a few loose ends about Binary Arts. If you watched the short video featuring the teacher/inventor, did you catch her reference to “Robot Turtles”? Did you hear “Adventure Quest”? Both these games partner with Code.org (a non profit group tied to Bill Gates, Zuckerburg with Facebook, and Kopp of Teach for America) The agenda (besides CCSS) is coding as a ‘social issue’. Holding the creative communications license to the games? Khan Academy (another group which has ‘sold out’ to CCSS). Khan is hoping to impact the proposed AP (advance placement) courses as well.

So, in “Sic ‘Em Saturday” fashion, LOOK into the games, the apps, the toys your students/kids are using. Want to stay Common Core, global agenda free during play time? Get offline! Go out and play, read together, have a family game night (use a classic game or one created before 2008, which is my time marker for before CCSS and after CCSS).
