Update on “Of Late”

When I wrote “Of Late”, I knew there were several key pieces of evidence to present and somehow tie together.

Almost immediately after the article hit the social media circuit, I got at least 2 other leads from fellow Warriors, making EVEN more connections to the subject matter in “Of Late”. If you missed that topic, it was all about the how our current U. S. Congress is bowing MORE to a global vent for workforce based education for all ages and all educational choices.

What follows is to be used as tools for every anti Fed Ed Warrior out there. Yes, it’s in-depth. But, it needs to be.

Where I Left Off:

Warriors, I left you with the confirmed evidence that American education is being used as a tool against us for the purpose of reshaping our nation. To continue that re-shaping, look to North Dakota, first.

Heading West:

My fellow Warrior from “The Roughrider State”, noticed that some of the items I shared seemed a bit TOO familiar. She then referred me to Gov. Burgum’s recent Innovation in Education Summit. She laid out some quick facts about the ties some of those presenting ‘expert’ evidence have to the CCSS Machine. She heavily questions how well these people represent the values of the North Dakotians.

burgum

I  found Dintersmith involved in another education reform area (which was also another tip from my ND friend). That is the “Most Likely to Succeed” documentary. This was filmed back in 2015 and was considered a hit by the Sundance Film Festival. What the documentary shows is chilling, Warriors. Below is the just over 2 minute trailer. Notice the key CCSS Machine members (Robinson is tied to Pearson, Khan is tied to the Khan Academy and received Gates Foundation funding to switch to CCSS, Common Core State Standards.)

(*Note: the full length documentary is not available legally for free on You Tube due to copyright issues.)
Below is a ‘team’ spirited description about the documentary. The number one team member? Dintersmith!

mostlikely1
If you’d like to see the “Most Likely to Succeed Learning Sparks” (short videos to spur you into action to help create more ‘innovation’ in your schools), find them here. Warriors, you find out how to ‘hack’ education and more. Look for Linda Darling-Hammond to be among the ‘experts’. Try not to cringe.

Warriors, I haven’t forgotten Dintersmith’s assignment by former President Obama (in the brief bio description above) to the UN. Neither should you.

Time and time again, I’ve shown you fact based research on how the former leader and his administration bent over backwards to help continue the cycle of ‘dumbing down’ American education.
There was the PCAST Report from 2010 where STEM was ushered in as a disguise for the UN’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), thanks to the NSF (National Science Foundation) and many other CCSS groups. There was also ‘innovation’ after ‘innovation’ initiative or some digital push to be foisted on our teachers and students.

Thanks to ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), those ‘innovation’ and digital overhauls are 100% certain. Has our current President slowed any of this down? Hardly.

Mr. Trump has, in fact, seemingly turned a deaf ear to the CCSS Machine’s technology de facto moves.

To see what Pres. Obama’s White House Report (Next Generation High Schools) featuring Mr. Dintersmith, contained, look here.

Warriors, remember, Dintersmith is a business man, not an educator. The fact sheet for the same White House Report reveals not only a big STEM push, but CTE (Career Tech Education) push, too. Both STEM and CTE are tied up in CCSS, apprenticeships, and the global education scheme of the United Nations.

Getting Back To The “Most Likely”:

Warriors, here’s an almost 30 minute video featuring the producer and lead team member for “Most Likely to Succeed”. You’ll not only see clips from the full documentary, you’ll hear first hand pro CCSS Machine discussion. Once again, Linda Darling-Hammond will surface during this video with her explanation as to how ‘grit’ will help solve the outdated American education. Listen all the way to the end. There is key evidence there.

Meanwhile In North Dakota:

One of the major concerns of my ND Warrior friend is shared by others in a few other States. The profiling of our high school students. If you’ve heard of “NorthStar” you know what I mean. The Facebook group Educray is based in TX. When my ND Warrior shared her concerns on social media, Educray was quick to join her. See below:

northstar
From TX, the Highland Park ISD graduate profile reeks of “content rich” global citizens rhetoric.

To see the Profile of a Graduate/EdLeader21 description of these types of data mining profiles, access the information here. To see the 4 Cs, collaboration, creativity, communication, and, critical thinking (which replace the 3 Rs in education), look here.
Getting Smart (Tom VanderArk) has a detailed article and podcast you’ll need to investigate. You’ll see other States using these profiles for ‘quality education’.

ReTool Your School:

Also featured in the ND Innovation Summit was “School ReTool”. If you’re not familiar, have you noticed how many of our schools are building torn down to be replaced by buildings which could double as a prison? To find out about this movement and how it connects to the global scheme:

https://vimeo.com/album/3269852

If you wonder about the ReTool’s ‘mission’? Look below:

retool1

Among School ReTool’s Partners? Groups from ME, NH, CO, CCSS Machine members Hewlett Foundation, Ted Dintersmith, and more. Find the rest here.

Part of the ‘retooling’? “Academic interships”..a fancy name for ‘Apprenticeships’!! If you’ll remember, Warriors, most of the “Of Late” article spells out for us the global ties to apprenticeships, higher education, and more. To see School ReTool’s Academic Internship plot, visit here.

Warriors, since most of the apprenticeships and internships are targeting our high schoolers in an attempt to groom them for higher education, we know to be watching the post-secondary reform like a hawk. You also know, I have been helping you do just that for years. EdWeek has an article, published earlier this week which reveals some valid points (even for a pro CCSS/ESSA source).

Point #1: Since the U.S. Secretary DeVos has been in office, she’s tackled much more higher education reform than K-12th grades.
Point #2: There’s a ton more federal control on colleges, community colleges, proprietary (for profit) schools, and all the early college, skill prep programs to unite K-12th to post-secondary education.

Innovation Kills:

Warriors, much of the conversation about all this alignment, reform, and increased innovation leaves out the bare faced fact that innovation actually stunts our minds.
How? Too much of anything is bad for us. As the push to unite the USA to a global education continues; technology and innovation/infrastructure for such will continue to envelope us.

Released in 2016, is the short You Tube film which depicts a father and child. Conformity to a work/school system is the topic. According to the resource I found highlighting this film, the tone of the writer is that we must change society to join work and education.
Exactly the message we are hearing from the UN, Congress, and our Administration in Washington, D.C.

The writer stresses that is it our current mindset toward work and school which is killing our student’s minds. In the fact-based research and evidence, it is the CCSS Machine grasp on education which is doing the stunting. NOT parents, not our environment.

I was able to find that one of the producers of “Alike” (Daniel M. Lara) is tied to the Blender Foundation and their 2016 Conference, where he was a featured speaker. Blender Conferences have been an annual event for a while now. Blender’s focus? Arts, technology, animation, and all related subjects. I also found that the Blender Foundation was cited as a resource (page 86) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) publication from 2015 for IGI Global for use in America. This Google Book is a goldmine of education reform. Chapter 83 is all about embedding pedagogy into NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards), you’ll see how innovation is to be used to target those ‘less academic’ than their peers, you’ll find out STEM is being unleashed on our babies, how ‘blended learning’ and PBLs (Problem Based Learning) is to shift education’s responsibility from teacher to student as a force tactic, future trends for K-20 education (kindergarten to 4 year college degree or similar), service based education (as in grooming the ‘collective, global citizens’), computer games as science teachers, multi-pronged distance education, how the Europeans are educating in these ways, open source lectures (coding classes will tie in here), and, more. (*Note in the beginning pages the number of American Universities.)

A 2014 Oregon State University Blender Camp brochure. Warriors, it will show you how ‘blending art’ and STEM fit into the classrooms.

A Blender Foundation “STEM in the Classroom” example. It’s called “Teach STEM Now”.

Interestingly enough, Betsy DeVos and Ivanka Trump just promoted more girls to STEM in the Smithsonian Museum, 7/25/17. They teamed up back in March 2017 to do much the same. (*Note: Not so funny, one of the UN’s SDGs is promoting women in education, especially STEM.)

IGI Global has a Pearson Publishing assessment available for a price. Check it out.

Last Stop, North Carolina:

Warriors, as you know I’ve shared with you how sold out to the CCSS Machine, NC is. Living here has given me the opportunity to show you things to watch for. Look below. One of the NC legislators is bragging on how ‘we’ will be the first in the nation for state-wide classroom internet access. Remember, ESSA’s mandates in technology include such. Way to align, NC.

Access the “Economist” article and you’ll literally read the beginning words with the name of B.F. Skinner, quickly followed by Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg.

Closing:

The long road of reform to a global education is fully in the works. Warriors, let’s get busy!

CCSS/CTE BS Alert!

Anti CCSS Warriors, Fed Ed Warriors, and everyone in between…
Are you fed up with the lies about education from educrats?!

I am! My article today is a response to the Vice President’s education remarks during the recent CPAC event.

Talk is cheap. I feel mocked…again. Some educratic buzz phrases we’ve heard SO many times showed up in Pence’s words. I am so tired of people in power who think they can mutter what sounds good or popular and be trusted. The one statement which really ticked me off?! “We’re in the promise keeping business.”  Before I go any further, here is the link to his speech.

From Pence’s Time In IN:

His work, in education, did not  keep his constituents happy. Just ask the anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors in IN. They KNOW he’s a CCSS Machine member. I know it from previous research. Our entire nation needs to wake up and see he is an EDUCRAT!

From the Washington Post’s article, Pence, as Governor ignored the voice of the People in IN many times when it came to education. So, how are the American Citizens supposed to believe anything Pence says about education as VP?!
(Below is a screen shot showing Gov. Pence’s signature on a Race to the Top document for IN.)

inrttt
Source of the screen shot can be accessed here.

Back to the CPAC Words:

Anyone given the right words can whip up a crowd. Especially when you leave out key facts. Pence near the 13:32 mark that no State should ever be forced to adopt ‘Common Core’. The crowd cheered loudly.

Of course cheering would happen when you preempt your ‘adoption’ comment behind how the Trump Administration is on board with education reform which wants to give more school choices and that recognizes education is a local function. Pence didn’t appear uncomfortable one bit when saying these things. However, let’s look at WHY these statements ARE supportive of ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act).

First off, neither the President or Vice President should be on board with education reform in its current state of top-down, bottom-up; anti teacher; anti parent;  and willingly selling out our students. They should not be supportive of any of the educational federal laws which are illegally based and contridict the U.S. Constitution! Secondly, ESSA has been sold by the CCSS Machine as education is given back ‘locally’. False!  By acknowledging the ‘local control’ yet doing nothing to end the illegally based reform is double speak. Lastly, ESSA lies have been spread that ‘school choice’ will somehow give you more in education, when it reality it is more of the same! Look below. (My thanks to Michele K. for the work on the image below.)

michelesversion**********************************************************
In a fairly recent article, I showed you how the Trump/Pence Education Plan was about expanding fed ed, not lessening it. Since that publication, it appears Trump STILL doesn’t know what’s Common Core and what isn’t. Since Pence likes to claim he balances the President, apply that concept here.  Pence isn’t clueless about CCSS or CTE (Common Core State Standards/Career Tech Education). Suddenly, now that he’s the second most powerful man in America, he wants us to believe he is among our best allies in fighting the CCSS Machine. A quick internet search shows Pence is closely tied to CTE.

pencecte

IF all this wasn’t enough, add Pence’s claims about school choice and his alliance with Betsy DeVos. Research which shows her family’s friendships with Pence. One could even point out these ties may have swayed him, especially in his vote for DeVos as Secretary of Education.  Pence has a close relationship with DeVos’s brother, Erik Prince. Here’s proof of campaign donations. This link shows you the Prince family donations to the Trump/Pence “Make American number 1”).

As Far As The Reality of “School Choice”:

Recently, Alice Linahan asked me to guest appear on the Women on the Wall National Conference Call. It is imperative the Trump Administration listens. Why?

School Choice’ via ESSA is exposed to be exactly what we, the anti CCSS Warriors know: an unadulterated farce. You sure haven’t heard Mr. Pence share THAT truth with anyone, especially when appearing before adoring fans.

If You Want to Speak The Truth:

After absorbing all this information, use the #KeepYourPromise on Twitter and help tweet on Feb. 27th that the Trump/Pence campaign promised  “No More Common Core!” For there to be NO ‘Common Core’, it MUST be destroyed in ALL its forms, even Pence’s champion cause, CTE!!

From the White House:

President Trump’s “National School Choice Week” Proclamation included this excerpt shows us just how effective the CCSS Machine’s propaganda has been. At almost every turn, since Trump/Pence’s inauguration, their ears have been plugged to our consistent truths about the CCSS Machine. If they’d listened, they would know the Proclamation was a victory for the CCSS Machine, NOT a blow against it. Here’s an excerpt:
“By expanding school choice and providing more educational opportunities for every American family, we can help make sure that every child has an equal shot at achieving the American Dream.  More choices for our students will make our schools better for everybody.”
****************************************************************

From VP Pence’s official White House biography, “As Governor of Indiana, Vice President Pence increased school funding, expanded school choice, and created the first state-funded Pre-K plan in Indiana history. He made career and technical education a priority in every high school.”

A painful truth I found on the White House’s website, education is not listed among the ‘top issues’.

What is top among the Trump/Pence Administration? Energy (the U.S. Dept of Energy is in the CCSS Machine via CTE.), Foreign Policy, Jobs Returning to America and Job Growth (will most definitely encompass STEM and CTE), Military and Law Enforcement (tied to the CCSS Machine), and, Trade Agreements (will definitely tie to global economy).

********************************************************************

My Last Thoughts, Comments, and, Responses to Pence’s Speech:

1)The friendship between so many in the Administration is giving off the attitude of greatness and shaking the established system up, especially in education. BS! You CANNOT possibly have greatness or beating the Establishment as long as you deceive the nation with ridding us of CCSS when you have so much firmly embedded to carry it on.

2) ‘Government for the people, by the people, and, of the people’ would be more believable when the People speak by the millions to not confirm the worst Secretary of Education to date. Somehow, though that message got blocked. Very much like when Pence, as IN’s Governor ignored the will of the citizens there.

3) Pence said Trump was already delievering results for American citizens, so far, I must disagree on education. If you really want America  to buy into the “Promise Keeping Business”, Mr. PenceSTOP the misinformation! STOP the CCSS Machine in ALL its forms, NOT just Common Core! Do not tell us (the anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors) education reform begins with MORE SCHOOL CHOICE. ESSA kills ‘school choice’. If you’ve not read ESSA like I have, you would know this and not spread the lie that ‘school choice’ is the answer.

4) Pence said (CPAC Speech) the States should not be forced to adopt CCSS. Is he serious? Does he not remember that the ‘CCSS forced acceptance’ happened back with Race to the Top?!  States had no choice when it came to CCSS being in their educational system thanks to the federal funds and the strings which came with them.

What Should Be Said:

1) “States shouldn’t have to CONTINUE to be forced to adhere to CCSS or anything connected to it.” (my words)
2) “I will uphold the U.S. Constitution and recognize all that goes with Common Core violates it.” (words to be spoken by Pence, Trump, and the entire Congress)

Good Colors/Bad Colors

We’ve all had discussions about education. Some of these ‘talks’ are pretty easy; some others aren’t. With most of us back home and resuming our post-Thanksgiving lives, it is easy to think about what was said around the table.

My family is no exception. Most of the family’s offspring are up in age. A few, however, have little ones. By little I mean ’10 years and younger’. My most ‘in-depth’ education conversation wasn’t with one of the grown-ups. It was with a 7 year old.

Here’s what this child is experiencing daily in a summary form:
“I got a new teacher when I went to my new school. I like this one much better because he gives me good colors. My old school teacher gave me bad colors. I don’t like the bad colors. She was mean.”

My heart still hurts when I recall his face and body language.

Warriors, I do not know about you, but this was something, no one, not even a Warrior Parent had shared. Since parents are being left out of education so much, these Warriors may not know about the ‘good color/bad color’ strategy in the classroom. Maybe they do and are fighting so hard against it, it’s assumed everyone knows.

It doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is looking at how this strategy is reshaping (literally) our children’s mindset.

Behind the Color Wheel, An Old Agenda Awaits:

behavecolor

Warriors, I found this example on Pintrest, along with hundreds of other color behavior management charts. Since I do not know exactly what school my young kinsman attends, I cannot access his school directly.
I did find his school district’s website. No mention about color controlled behavior management was available. (You can also find via an internet search how colors are replacing report cards. We know that in some States report cards and diplomas are being phased out totally.)

So, where’s the ‘agenda’? PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) While the screen shot you see above may or may not co-ordinate with the particular school district I’m referring to or not, the PBIS, thanks to ESSA, (Every Student Succeeds Act) is only going to get more invasive. An added ‘bonus’? The amount of money to be made by private companies which partner with schools. ESSA gives that opportunity many times in the Law.

Earlier this year (2016), I shared with you the Pearson Behavior Management System (Review 360) and how it uses P3s (Public Private Partnerships) for conditioning not only our students, but our school leaders, too. See Part 2 of my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/03/07/pearsons-gi-more-alignment-in-the-workplace/

Also from earlier this year, I shared with you how ESSA and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers were set (or, are being set in place) for whole family behavior managing. The agenda? If the entire family is on the same track, the student will have better success in life (aka: student achievement/student outcome). See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/04/10/ccss-machine-potpourri/

Related to what is happening NOW in behavior management, is this screen shot from a 2014 article I published which revealed to you the Behavior Standards used in schools which aligned to Common Core.

14behave

You can see how the PBIS will fit into schools. It doesn’t matter what name the States use for educational standards, the behavior portions will remain in place and yet, will INCREASE in overreach!

If you wish to access the Behavior Standards and Mindsets:

Above, you noticed I stated 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Here’s a screen shot of how the PBIS will fit:

PBIS In Real Time:

From the school district information I found that the Positive Behavior uses not only colors (think a traffic light), BUT coins as rewards to use for ‘shopping’.

In this ‘new way’ of behaving, kids are taught that ‘fail’ doesn’t mean the opposite of ‘success’, as it is traditionally taught; no, it represents  an ‘opportunity to try again’, ‘failing is another word for growing’, or ‘first attempt in learning’! Warriors, do you sense the importance of this shift?! (Do an Internet search for the images of these phrases, you’ll be surprised at the shift in traditional critical thinking.)

So, what is the school district I found using for PBIS?
It’s at every grade level; it uses Starbucks Rewards cards; weekly school ‘shopping’ trips;
colors as ‘good’ or ‘not good’ (‘bad’ is not an option); and, levels of keeping behaviors in line with every other student (for example: blue level or gold level, the higher the color, the more the responsibility).

It’s important to note that the school district is Greenville, SC. According to their website, they are SC’s largest school district and the 51st largest in the entire nation. They also are accredited by AdvancEd (a huge CCSS Machine member group which manipulates behavior.)

To see Greenville’s PBIS description (to be used anywhere learning can happen):
https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/monaview/Upload/uploads/PBIS.pdf

To see how PBIS is used for elementary students:

pbispaws

Warriors, do you see how music is used in the cafeteria?! Do you see how much silence is expected?! Do you see how often lines are to be used or order is to be kept?!
To see the entire chart: https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/parise/students/0809/pbis.asp

PBIS for older special needs students (self contained)? Greenville’s School District offers a specific teacher’s letter. In it PBIS is described as a “Behavior Management System”. The introduction states a Unique Learning System (a Standards based on-line curriculum) is also used. To see the traffic light/shopping trip plan for behavior: https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/rms/syllabi/KellettSelfContained.pdf
To see the Unique Learning Systems SC Standards Base (College and Career Readiness Standards; code for Common Core State Standards): https://www.n2y.com/unique-learning-system/

What’s interesting is that Greenville’s School District AdvancED accreditation‘more information’ link is broken. However, I did find the information at the Greenville Economic Development Board’s website. (see: http://www.greenvilleeconomicdevelopment.com/greenville-county-schools.php )
(*Note: AdvancEd is big into the the 2030 UN Agenda for an educated workforce. See:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/this-is-our-choice/)

Why would school information be located at an economic website? The workforce agenda!!
“College and Career Readiness” doesn’t just involve education, it arches over into jobs.
Jobs drive the local economy. ESSA and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) use Career Tech Education and Career Pathways (sometimes Career Clusters). The Higher Education Act (HEA) also plays into this!

The Ultimate Goal for the students in Greenville School District (as well as a national goal we see playing out in ‘real time’)? The screen shot shows only a portion of the information. The entire 2 page brochure reveals the ‘building’ begins in Pre-school!

As far as the “education evangelist”? He’s preaching innovation in education for the economy’s benefit! See for yourselves:

Closing:

Warriors, we all are at risk of losing our students to the CCSS Machine’s workforce agenda. It doesn’t matter how young or old our students are. By using colors to encourage or discourage young minds, we condition them unjustly. By using music as cues to be ourselves and chat with others or not, we are restricting personalities. By showing instant gratification for ‘good’ behavior, we are seeing the entitlement programs increase in society.

What’s my little kinsman’s future?! Sadly, like all the rest of ours. A ‘color coded credential for work’ where we are all ‘bronze, silver, gold, or platinum’ workers…not free people with hopes and dreams.
(see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/03/tech-thursday-just-say-no-to-nocc/)

So, the ‘education evangelist’ is truthful about one thing ‘who do I want to work for?’;
the rest of his message? An empty vat of lies.

And the ‘Winners’ Are….

Recently, it was announced, here in NC, that 4 math and science teachers were given Presidential honors for their hard work.  President, as in the head of the United States.
In fact, the 4 (2 from 2014 and 2 from 2015), can receive no higher honor in our nation in K-12th grade education when it comes to math and science.

The irony? While the NC Dept. of Public Instruction is tripping over itself about these winners, in a few hours we will know the latest numbers in ‘student success’ here in the State. If the ‘success’ is anything like it has been in the past few years (horrible), no one should be celebrating!

So, What Award?

The award is known as PAEMST, or Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The PAEMST program, however, is run by the NSF (National Science Foundation). In case you’ve missed my research on how sold out to the CCSS Machine the NSF, I’ll include some evidence for you in a bit. For now, let’s just say I have a distinct case of mistrust about the NSF. It’s a part of our federal government, but yet it’s not. It gets tons of taxpayer funding and is pushing a global agenda in several areas of concern for us, as a nation. NSF runs the program on the behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

In the email I received announcing these 4 esteemed teachers, it included the following,
“In making the announcement, President Obama said, “The recipients of this award are integral to ensuring our students are equipped with critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are vital to our nation’s success. As the United States continues to lead the way in the innovation that is shaping our future, these excellent teachers are preparing students from all corners of the country with the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills that help keep us on the cutting-edge.

Our State Superintendent was also featured in the award email, “North Carolina is fortunate to have such exceptional mathematics and science teachers in our public school classrooms. Students who graduate high school with a strong mathematics and science foundation will be well-positioned for the high-demand careers for tomorrow’s economy.

Coming from the lady who is not only our State leader in education, she’s also the President of the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers), I find her words less than meaningful. A huge conflict of interest when it comes to ‘quality education’ in NC, or anywhere else Common Core/STEM touch our citizens.

The 4 teachers will receive $10,000.00* each to spend as they wish, a Presidential citation, and get to go to Washington, D.C. to officially receive their awards.
(*NSF gives the cash awards. NSF is a government entity. The majority of its funding is taxpayer based.  To see the 2016 NSF Budget, http://www.nsf.gov/about/congress/114/highlights/cu16_0104.jsp)

OSTP, Office of Science and Technology Policy:

The website: https://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/eop/ostp

OSTP

This is what I found on the OSTP main page. Scroll down it a bit and you’ll see the President’s 2016 Science Fair, where STEM was everywhere. In my research, where you find STEM, you’ll find CCSS, or as it is called now, College/Career Readiness (CCR). ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) even calls it ‘challenging state academic standards’.

What else is OSTP up to? Very recently, announcing a new national push for STEM in K-12th grade education AND higher education. Below is a screen shot of the announcement.
Why we need to be raising some red flags:
a) I’ve gone over the 2017 Fed Ed Budget Requests the President has made, I know exactly were all the ties to the CCSS Machine are.
b) ESSA has big bucks set aside for STEM Master Corps and career exploration activities.
c) ESSA has even bigger bucks set aside for digital and technology infrastructure updates, implementations.)
d) The “Computer Science for All” the “100K in 10”, etc. are all programs I’ve researched and shared evidence on how toxically aligned they are to the shift in workforce based education.
e) ESSA also has big bucks set aside for teachers/leaders PD (professional development). The development is for ensuring they are aligned to not only the workforce based education shift, but are grooming students for post-secondary readiness. Regardless of grade or age.

PAESMT Program:

This program’s been around since 1983. The official website is: https://www.paemst.org/
PAESMT is Congress established, and thus, approved. Each year 108 teachers from across our nation are awarded. The U.S. Territories are also included in these awards. If you would like to see more about the Awardshttps://www.paemst.org/about/view

Here’s a short video where you can see how these honored teachers are called out as models for their peers, and leaders for their students. Warriors, any teacher modeling an agenda driven education and/or leading others to one, is no teacher I want to know.

If you wish to find your State’s PAESMT Coordinator,
https://www.paemst.org/coordinator/find_coordinator

NC has 2 Coordinators, one for Math and one for Science.

NSF, National Science Foundation:

Sometime before 2009, Gates Foundation gave the NSF $24 million dollars for agricultural research and development. (See: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database/Grants/2008/11/OPP51589)

NSF is the one which created the STEM acronym as a marketing tool based off the PCAST* 2010 Report. I have shared with you countless times how this Report stated that the purpose for STEM wasn’t so much about education, as it was to be about economy (both national and globally), jobs, and a population. As the Report put it, a STEM people for a STEM workforce for a STEM nation. (* PCAST is short for President’s Council of Advisors in Science and Technology)

Closing:

If you wish to receive more information about my research on any of the topics is this article, please let me know. Make no mistake, STEM is out to align just as much as CCSS is in our schools, communities, and homes. WE MUST FIGHT this overreach. As far as ‘winners’, in the grasp of the CCSS Machine, no one is.

Ready or Not…

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, we have seen the purposed shift from “Common Core State Standards” to “College and Career Ready Standards”. Together, we have found the evidence which proves these two phrases do NOT mean 2 different sets of Standards. They ARE one in the same. Together, we have found some of the CCSS Machine member organizations responsible for spewing education reform rhetoric. We have listened, seen, and experienced their fallacy ridden efforts to deceive Americans.

Trouble is, the CCSS Machine is NOT slowing down now that ESSA is the law of the land. In fact, the CCSS Machine is busy this summer cranking more fallacies up and out. The Machine only ASSUMES we Warriors are taking the summer break time to refrain from our “War Against the Core”.

Hardly!

The Superintendents Association:

If you have followed my blog long, you know how much of a part of the CCSS Machine, the AASA (American Association of School Administrators) or as they are more well known: ‘The School Superintendents Association’, is. If you are new to the blog, suffice it to say that this pro ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) group is VERY ready, willing, and so far, able to deceive Americans when it comes to ‘College and Career Readiness’. (*Note: the ESSA champions that CCSS (Common Core State Standards) will be gone and that CCR (College and Career Readiness) will replace them.)

So what has the AASA done to spread the deceptions? They have begun a national campaign called “Redefining Readiness”! This group is wasting no time in their pro ESSA efforts. Just a couple of months ago they were busy hosting ESSA webinars, writing reports on how great ESSA is for education to be returned to the States. And now, a national campaign..My, my..

AASAready

To access the website for this new campaign, http://www.redefiningready.org/
It is interesting to note that you will not see the AASA’s logo or information on most of the webpages included on the Campaign site.
In fact it wasn’t until I got to the ‘Resources’ page that I found them. Here is an excerpt, “Take advantage of our resources to engage your schools and your communities in the important national campaign – Redefining Ready!  Our campaign seeks to equip school administrators with the necessary resources to easily implement the new college and career readiness metrics at high schools across the nation.  We have also created sample resolutions to help education advocates and government leaders support our initiative. Email RedefiningReady@aasa.org if you have resources you would like to share! “ What follows this exciting news, are sample letters, legislation, and other items for promoting College and Career Readiness. Get the downloads of the samples: http://www.redefiningready.org/resources/ (*Note: the resources will go straight to the download option in your computer instead of opening up the sample on a new page.)

According to the National Campaign, there are 3 types of Readiness for our students.
College ready (students are determined ‘college ready’ by how well they score on assessment benchmarks and/or academic benchmarks.), Career Ready (students are determined ‘career ready’ by indicating a career choice, meeting behavior benchmarks, and performing community service.), and finally, Life Ready (students are determined as ‘life ready’ by leaving high school with ‘grit’ and perseverance; a ‘growing’ mindset, and very little else. To see the different readiness requirements:

(You can find the above on the “Take Action” webpage of the Campaign.)

Here are the organizations supporting the Redefining Ready initiative:
The AASA
The CoSN (Consortium for School Networking)
The NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals)
The NSR (National Superintendents Roundtable)
Phi Delta Kappa International

So far, Warriors, you can see there is tremendous cause for concern. However, what you see below is straight from the National Campaign’s website. I hope you spot the irony.readyresearch
From the first paper (highlighted in red), comes this excerpt about the use of SLDS (student longitudinal data system), “The data for this study come from two sources: the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), conducted by WestEd (WestEd, 2014), and publicly available school-level data from the California Department of Education (CDE).”

Remember, Warriors, this national readiness campaign is supposed to be about education. See how the data mining is being used to redefine education?!

From the second highlighted red item, (which takes you to a Hechinger Report article, which has a study embedded (the study was conducted by a part of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services). The evidence used is based on how successful ONE (one of the nation’s largest) school district was. Here is the actual study:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3831577/

You can find the above screen shot, on the Redefining Readiness’ website’s ‘General Research’ tab.

There are 2 other Research topics as well. “College Ready Research” and “Career Ready Research”.
To access the “College Ready” items, see:  http://www.redefiningready.org/research-college-ready/
Here you will find dual enrollment (effects any educational choice utilizing this educational option), IB schools, and more topics.
To access the “Career Ready” items, see: http://www.redefiningready.org/research-career-ready/
Here you will find research which will impact EVERY person who gets a job. The first source cited is the Harvard University/Pearson Publishing project, “Pathway to Prosperity”. Yes, you will see the Redefining Readiness folks cite a 1988 Report. PtoP used THAT Report as inspiration. Oh, and alignment…
I first covered this very same Harvard/Pearson Project in early 2015. See:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/tech-thursday-difference-between-careers/

As far as those credentials Redefining Readiness is so excited about? Here is one article where I researched and shared how damaging this is: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/03/tech-thursday-just-say-no-to-nocc/

College and Career Readiness, WIOA, and HEA:

Since the CCSS Machine is out to streamline education from birth to the grave, two OTHER laws are in existence to make sure this happens in ADDITION to the ESSA.
These are WIOA of 2014 and the HEA (last re-written in 2008, renewed for funding purposes in Dec. 2015, and being re-written by some of the SAME backers as the ESSA)

WIOA of 2014 stands for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 and cemented into law Career Pathways, Career Clusters, apprenticeships, and so much more into our States. Job development grants, workforce based education, and data mining. The idea was to create it so that those wanting to work would have a certain track to follow and the data mining would help education plan and teach to these tracks. The WQDI (Workforce Quality Data Initiative) was created to pull this off. WIOA is from the U.S. Dept. of Labor. It covers the workforce..all ages, all educational choices.

HEA of 2008 stands for Higher Education Act. It,too has tons of data mining built in (yes, even then). It also had the foundation laid for educational alignment which we now see as work of the CCSS Machine. When ESSA was passed and the bragging speeches began in D.C. it was spoken as both a promise and a warning..that the HEA was next; that HEA was the final piece in the legislation which would complete the bridge from education to work.

I have covered post-secondary Common Core, Career Tech Education, or any of the other names the agenda uses, extensively. If you wish to have the evidence for WIOA, HEA, the WQDI, or how the 2017 Federal Education Budget Requests play into all this, please let me know.

I leave you this weekend, with the image below. Investigate the Career OneStop. See the CCSS Machine’s impact on jobs for our citizens. Then see how it connects to the education of today.

Full Steam Ahead

stempbl1
Make NO mistake: it has been a calculated plan for STEM and Common Core to be directly related. Thanks to the ESSA, it will be even more embedded in education via College and Career Readiness.

For this edition of my Weekend News, I will be diving into STEM, STEAM, College and Career Readiness and how these connect to not only education, but a top-down Washington, D. C. led agenda to make our nation a STEM one.

How I know STEM is a Top-Down Agenda for the Nation:

1) The first article I wrote exposing the PCAST (President’s Council on Advisors of Science and Technology will give you the full Report laying out how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) was to be quietly implanted in the (then) about to be released Common Core State Standards. The Report will state (in so many words) that the agenda was for a STEM nation, a STEM workforce, and we would be STEM citizens. This agenda is meant for everyone, not just students in traditional schools. If you haven’t read it: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/09/02/from-the-files-pcast-stem-and-common-core/
Here you will find out how STEM was embedded in your RttT funding and has been extended via education waivers:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/12/02/wybi-wednesday-rttt-stem-ed-waivers-and-more/

If you would like to access the current activities of the PCAST, where STEM will certainly be a huge factor of:

Visual Evidence of the Overreach of STEM/STEAM  in our communities:

Here, where I live, in NC, the daily media is stepping up the STEM offerings for our community. I first showed you this effort last year, 2015 in my article titled ‘Aligned Summer’. In it you will find a short You Tube video, as well as links to check out for  yourselves to see where and how STEM is being quietly implanted.

If you want to know what those who implant STEAM in our schools do, read this excerpt from ‘How to Start a STEAM Program’, “The approach to STEAM varies from school to school, depending on each district’s appetite for integration. Some schools fully immerse the arts in STEM subjects, developing a full year’s STEAM curriculum to accompany
every lesson unit. Other schools pick and choose projects to integrate throughout the year.
Many schools are creating physical spaces, often called “makerspaces,” as a home base for STEAM. Similar in vibe to a lab or studio, these makerspaces are often converted storage closets or computer labs. Students can work in these makerspaces on STEAM projects independently, in small groups or with a whole class. Typical materials and devices in a makerspace run the gamut: 3D PRINTERS, LASER CUTTERS, ROBOTICS KITS, ELECTRONIC INVENTION KITS SUCH AS THOSE FROM LITTLEBITS AND MAKEY MAKEYCOMPUTERS,  CRAFT SUPPLIES, HAMMERS, NAILS AND SAWS, SEWING MACHINES and FABRIC.”

Watch Out, Alignment Ahead!

For this edition of Weekend News, I thought we should take an updated look at the ‘FREE’ College Movement run by the Federal Government, not local control. All anti-CCSS/CTE (Common Core State Standards/Career Tech Education) and federally led education Warriors should be aware of this push to transform America, from the inside out!

The Back Story:

The last time I wrote to you about Heads Up America, it was Sept. 2015. Has much changed with the movement? Since Arne Duncan’s departure from the U.S. Dept. of Education, has Dr. John King picked up the torch or extinguished it? After all, ‘free college’ is a hot political issue right now. We will find out what the absolute latest is in a bit, in the meantime…
Main points from the previously published  article include:
1) The cradle to career agenda portions of the CCSS Machine extend everywhere, in every State.
2) White House, top-down control and promotion.
3) Our community colleges used as the connector for all to a workforce based education.
4) Many U.S. Dept. of Labor grants; Programs for Higher Education from the U.S. Dept. of Education are ‘married’ to complete the cradle to career tracks.
5) Many well known supportive CCSS Machine members and groups are identified, as well as the documents to back it all up. If you need a true connect the dots from K-12 and Higher Education, this is it!
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/12/weekend-news-heads-up-higher-ed-cte-update/

The Vital Questions for 2016 and Beyond:

Now that you have the history of why I have written about the above at least twice, you may have plenty of questions, just like I do. Where is all this going? Will Dr. King continue the U.S. Dept. of Education’s marriage with the U.S. Dept. of Labor in cradle to career education? We have seen how the candidates (on every level of government) are claiming education solutions, but do they truly get just HOW embedded in America the transformation has progressed and is continuing to point to MORE alignment?

So, let’s start with the Heads Up! Movement and see what new plans have been laid out or, are being proposed.

1) From early Feb. 2016, the screen shot below introducing the Gateway Promise Program in WI and based on the Governor of TN’s plan.

http://headsupamerica.us/press/college-promise-campaign-celebrates-gateway-promise
http://headsupamerica.us/press/college-promise-campaign-celebrates-gateway-promise

2) More incentives for States to encourage P3s (public private partnerships)! Also announced in early Feb. 2016, this will support and align with the language in the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) where P3s are not only encouraged, the relationships are now law. See the screen shot below:
collegetax
To access the entire press release explaining the monetary incentives for the States:
http://headsupamerica.us/press/strengthening-partnerships-between-businesses-and-community-colleges-grow-middle-class

3) Making no bones about the connections between Common Core, College and Career Readiness and a streamlined education, is the Mission Statement for Heads Up. Here is their statement, “We want to spread the message, far and wide. We’ll do that by leveraging the power of a robust, cross-sector engagement strategy throughout the campaign. A National Advisory Board has been convened to work closely with seven key sector-based Leadership Committees, together advocating for free community college, as well as degree and certificate completion for responsible students. The College Promise Campaign will mobilize an influential, diverse, broad–based and growing network to educate the public, elected officials, community and state stakeholders and the media on the benefits of the College Promise, emphasizing high-quality community college education. Leaders from four-year institutions and the business community will have multiple opportunities to participate and extend the impact of the College Promise beyond community colleges to ensure a high-performing pipeline of college and career-ready students flowing from K-12 through higher education.” The National Board appears to be the same today, as it did when I last wrote about the Heads Up. (see point #5 in the Back Story paragraph) To see who is among this National Board:

So, what has Dr. King said or done to carry the torch for all this? Here is an excerpt from his prepared speech from March 2016, “So while it’s true that college remains the greatest driver of socioeconomic mobility in America, it’s also true that if we don’t find ways to keep a college degree within reach for middle- and lower-class families, our institutions of higher education could end up having the opposite effect – they could become a barrier, not a bridge, to greater prosperity.” To see his entire speech,
http://www.ed.gov/news/speeches/ensuring-higher-education-all (*Note, notice his use of the ‘caste system’ in his speech. You will also need to see, how once again, the State of TN is heralded as a model. Take into consideration this is the State which is represented by Sen. Lamar Alexander, who championed the ESSA’s passage, the confirmation of Dr. King,  as well working on the upcoming re-authorization of the  HEA.)

Dr. King also conducted a national tour about colleges and alignment ‘sold as’ opportunity. See: http://www.ed.gov/news/media-advisories/us-acting-education-secretary-john-king-announces-opportunity-across-america-tour

Dr. King’s prepared speech on CTE (Career Tech Education, or as I have uncovered, the adult arm of the CCSS, which begins in middle schools and extends to high schools, dual enrollment classes, early college promise programs, and higher education.) Here is an excerpt, “I can’t think of a better venue to talk about the rapidly evolving field of CTE – Career and Technical Education. We’ve come a long way from what we used to refer to as vocational education. Today, every job that leads to a secure future requires critical thinking, problem solving and creativity, as well as some postsecondary education or training. The best CTE programs help students prepare for this future once they graduate from high school. Today’s CTE is about the future you can’t prepare for with just a textbook. It’s about learning how to build your own business, from an idea to a prototype and beyond. It’s about creating new tools to solve everyday problems. It’s about applying practical skills to tackle major challenges, like global warming or public health crises. One thing is clear—it’s not your grandfather’s “shop class.” ” To read the rest of his speech,

Closing:
As our nation continues to face the upcoming elections in November 2016, we should take the above information and use it to question our candidates about what is being laid out in our States to support this. Are the candidates on board with this national overreach? Do they know about it? Will they purpose to NOT join in? Remember, the groundwork to get to this point has taken many years, much money, and is purposing us to become globally educated, employed, and aligned; not American educated, employed, or free!
