Welcome back, my fellow Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warriors!

I’ve returned home after a bittersweet journey. That said, let’s dive in, shall we?!

In playing ‘catch up’ on the latest education news, I found this ‘lovely’ rotten apple:
The CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers) has been given an award for being one of the BEST non-profit groups in our nation!

If you missed this news, it is no surprise. It was announced on the CCSSO’s Press Release Page on 4/1/17 (aka: April Fool’s Day). CCSSO’s Twitter account waited to ‘tweet’ the news the same day as the first ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) deadline expired. In fact, if you use Twitter and wish to see all the ‘cheering tweets’ CCSSO gave each State as they ‘lined up’ for ESSA (per the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s website), find them here.

Warriors, I hope you see not only the irony of the dates used, but the groups involved. It’s been known for quite some time how tied to the CCSS Machine the CCSSO is. The same is true for the U.S. Dept. of Education, too.

So, what group(s) are involved in recognizing the CCSSO as ‘one of the best’?

 


The NonProfit Times:

First, here’s a quote from the CCSSO Press Release about the “The NonProfit Times”: “This is the second year that CCSSO made the list of 50 organizations recognized. The NonProfit Times partnered with Best Companies Group, Inc. on this report.”

What we need to know about the NonProfit Times is this: It is a publication of the BridgeTower Media group. BridgeTower Media uses its’ research arm, the Best Companies Group, Inc., for ’employee satisfaction’ data collection.

BridgeTower Media is the business arm of GateHouse Media: “BridgeTower Media is the business-to-business media division of Gatehouse Media, the largest publisher of daily newspapers in the United States.” Source

So, how does this involve what we are experiencing in classrooms? Why as an Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warrior should I take notice?

1) Technology is really big deal in modern education. Technology means data collection, sharing, and, power. Power for those who capture it/loss of power in our privacy. So, apply the following in that context.

 SoftBank has a “Vision Plan. Technology is the root of the Plan. Also involved in the “Plan” is Saudi Arabia. The Plan includes increasing globally led AI (Artificial Intellegience). Apple, Inc. has already jumped into the Plan. Apple, Inc. is also part of the CCSS Machine’s overreach into educational settings.

GateHouse Media is considered America’s largest publisher of daily news. GateHouse, thus has tremendous influence in our local areas. Consider this, the single largest investor (Fortress Investment Group, LLC)  in GateHouse Media was sold to a Japanese based investment group (SoftBank Group Corp.) earlier this year!

2) Warriors, a globally based investment group has been able to get their collective foot further into our American doorways by making such a move. The evidence for globally-led influence in American education is becoming stronger every day.

3) Notes: Technology-based education was given the go-ahead with the passage of WIOA (2014’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), STEM Act of 2015 (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act, 2015). Technology based education in the HEA (Higher Education Act, 2008) will most certainly received the ‘go-ahead’ for streamlined education when it is re-authorized.

Current leadership in D.C. is ‘hell-bent’ on expanding technology, especially in classrooms. A huge portion of federal funds has been earmarked for technology purchases and upgrades via ESSA.

So, how does all this tie back to the CCSSO’s ‘award’?!

You have a  massive global group with plenty of CCSS Machine ties congratulating ANOTHER CCSS Machine member for being a best ‘non profit’ group. Non profit groups have been used for years to usher in the education reform.

We are on a  fast track set for meeting the U.N.’s global education goals as written out in the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)!

Technology will render ‘school choice’ a thing of the past. ESSA’s implementation will render true ‘school choice’ as a thing of the past.

Closing:

Warriors,  the CCSSO should receive no reward for anything it does.  By the acknowledgement as one of the best places to work, according to the NonProfit Times, those employees are rubbing our noses it what they do for the CCSSO. Helping lead the way in un-Americanizing education.

Monday Musings: Fightin’ Mamas

For this first Monday of October 2015, I am giving a shout out to anti CCSS warrior moms nationwide. I have a special spot for the Moms and grandmamas throughout NC. I have had the honor of standing with them, helping them, and most importantly, joining them in their disdain for all things connected to the CCSS Machine.Before I share with you what NC fightin’ mamas have done, check out these fightin’ mad moms from other states.

Well Stated:

Here’s a quote from my dear friend, Rachel. She lives in NY. She runs a business, manages a huge anti CC group on Facebook, and thinks nothing of being a booming voice against the anti-Americanism going on in the classrooms.

“My hubby tells me that I am angry a lot and my best friend tells me that I am “not the same person I was four years ago”. I told them that Common Core has made me the person I am today. I HATE COMMON CORE and what is being done to our children.
I LOVE OUR NATION AND OUR CHILDREN. So does God. I pray like I do every morning…. “Please God, give us the miracle needed to rid our children of Common Core”, amen.”

If you are new to fighting CCSS, you may not know about one of the first anti CCSS Facebook pages I joined. Called ‘Moms Against Duncan (MAD)’. The 5 leaders of this dedicated group are all fantastic anti CC warriors I trust without a doubt. Together, they are a force like a tidal wave. Here’s a quote by Teri, one of my favorite GA moms, “The front line in the battle to Stop Common Core is in the STATES! NC Fightin’ Mamas:

My fellow NC moms are quite something. They have been faithful in attending hearings, meetings, and standing up to school officials. They have demanded justice. They have produced evidence of data mining, inappropriate lessons, and been forthright in their disgust of the state leaders who have knowingly embedded every aspect of the CCSS Machine into our preK through 12th; post-secondary, and workforce areas. These moms, many of whom I have met, don’t hesitate to tell it like it is.

However long it is determined for me to be a resident of NC, I will carry on being deliberate in this mission to wagw war against the CCSS Machine.

Your Moms:

We know many mamas and grandmamas like our NC moms. If we don’t have Warriors like these, we are doomed. We need MORE moms, mamas, dads, papas; citizens of all kinds! Know a dedicated anti CC person or group? Let me know! It’s always a great day to meet new folks/groups fed up with the illegally based education reform! Let’s all become ‘patriots’ for our students. Anti CCSS Warriors, you’ve read the stories, culled the Congressional Reports. You know this ‘War Against Common Core’ is NOT over yet.  However, today, we’ll take a look at the 17 who stood strong in the Senate against not only their peers, but the CCSS Machine. I’d like to preface my article, I am NOT endorsing any political candidate publicly. My focus isn’t on the campaigns of any of the 17 Senators. Are these 17 tied to Common Core in any way? Let’s find out.
The Nay Sayers:

While each of the following said ‘no’ July 16th, will they remain nay sayers? We’ll need to continue to hold them accountable. Especially when you discover more about their education stances.
Blunt: MO, voted ‘no’ to S1177, As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Sen. Blunt gets to help decide where our taxpayer’s money is spent. One such benefactor? The U.S. Dept. of Education. See: http://www.blunt.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/committee-assignments I didn’t find a press release following his ‘no’ to ECAA on his website. However, I did find that his stance on job growth may be of concern, therefore watching how he continues to vote where education is concerned. See: http://www.blunt.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/grow-jobs-and-opportunity Note the phrase ‘shovel ready’ and Missouri’s community colleges. As we’ve discovered, community colleges are entrapped in the CCSS/CTE pipeline for education.
Booker: NJ, voted ‘no’ to S1177, HIs statement following his vote, revealed his dissatisfaction with Title One funding. See: http://www.booker.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=281 That said, Sen. Booker’s involvement in a trained workforce is worthy of not only our concern, but our voice. Sen. Booker has teamed up with Sen. Scott (see below) in LEAP, Leveraging and Energizing America’s Apprenticeship Program Act. Why would a CCSS Warrior need to be concerned? I’ve published a detailed article previously detailing how the Apprenticeship program in America is CCSS, CTE aligned.

Crapo: ID, voted ‘no’ to S1177, If you don’t know his stance on education, you should. While he’s a big supporter of public education, he desires more local control. That said, he also shares that the federal role in education is helpful. Anti CC Warriors, I’m curious, do Congress members receive a ‘Know your Constitution’ exam before being sworn in? If not, maybe they should. As per our 10th Amendment, there is to be NO federal role in education. See Sen. Crapo’s educational stance:
http://www.crapo.senate.gov/issues/education/education.cfm While I didn’t see his service on any committees which directly impact education, I did notice a few caucuses he belongs to which are tied to CCSS. Cruz: TX,  voted ‘no’ to S1177, Sen. Cruz’s vote was consistent with his education stance as an opposer of CCSS. His statement following that vote said ECAA missed the mark. See:

As you’ll see with some of the other Senators, Cruz serves of the Joint Economic Committee and others. Commerce is among them. Knowing how big business has its hands all over education, I’m sure we’ll need to watch to see how this is handled.
Daines: MT, voted ‘no’ to S1177, His amendment, SAFE Kids, is said to protect student data privacy, however, in looking at the website detailing this amendment, several CCSS Machine members are supportive. This should be a huge concern to us, as opposed to Common Core! Flake: AZ, voted ‘no’ to S1177, While some of his amendments were included in ECAA (Every Child Achieves Act), he couldn’t support some of the other components of the bill. See: http://www.flake.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/press-releases?ID=dfad8ae1-0422-49b6-9ae1-68181f4053b9 However, his amendments were for charter school authority and early learning alignment are very concerning to anti CC Warriors. Why? As I’ve shared with you before, many overseeing charter schools are part of the CCSS Machine. Early learning alignment? No! Absolutely not! Lee: UT, voted ‘no’ to S1177, His press release statement following that vote stated it was because the bill expands the U.S. Dept. of Education, increases early education overhaul,and more. He also is a member of the U.S. Joint Economic Committee. (JEC’s website address is provided below in another Senator’s description) Lee is currently working on higher education legislation. He has even asked for America’s help. Anti CCSS Warriors, if you’re concerned about Sen. Lamar Alexander’s push for aligning as much as he can of education from birth to post grad, perhaps you’d like to help Sen. Lee’s writing of legislation. Moran: KS, voted ‘no’ to S1177, A fan of CTE (career and technical education) is a big cause of concern for those of us opposed to the CCSS Machine. We now very well by now, that CTE is in every state of the United States, no matter if your state ‘adopted’ CCSS or not.

Murphy: CT, voted ‘no’ to S1177, His stance on education includes the 21st century skills needed for the global economy statement we’ve heard so much from the CCSS Machine. There are other statements in his education view point which are concerning to us as anti CCSS Warriors. For example, the states and accountability facing us in a re-authorized ESEA. Paul: KY, voted ‘no’ to S1177, Which directly supports his stance on education view point. His website has a well explained statement to detail his stance. See: http://www.paul.senate.gov/about-rand/issues/promoting-opportunity-through-education

Paul is a member of the HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and Pension) Committee. HELP was key in S1177’s existence.
Risch: ID, voted ‘no’ to S1177, His statement on education is brief, but to the anti CC Warrior, says a lot. For example, his stance on the role of the federal government in education is one of concern. How so? He believes the federal government should have a role in education. Warriors, does no one remember that federal government, per the U.S. Constitution, shouldn’t have ANY role in education?! Rubio: FL, voted ‘no’ to S1177, There’s not a message on his website concerning his vote that I could find. His blog has no entry for 7/16/15, either. However, I did find he serves on several committees that are directly related to education (technology, for example). His bio page on his website can serve as alert to his stance on higher education (as in making it affordable). Then, there’s the concern for the ‘global economy’. Why are these areas to hold him accountable? Sen. Alexander’s statement concerning the Higher Education Act was next on his list is a great reason. Sasse: NE, voted ‘no’ to S1177, I cannot find any sort of press release after the vote. His website does not share any education view points that I can find. However, he does serve on the U.S. Joint Economic Committee. Since the CCSS Machine has a huge goal for the economic status of the U.S. A., I’d say we most definitely need to find out more about Sen Sasse’s view of education. See his website:

Scott: SC, voted ‘no’ to S1177, because he didn’t feel the bill was good enough. Scott’s been key to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 and other ‘opportunities’ for aligned education and labor. WIOA embedded CCSS aligned Career Pathways at least 21 times. Shelby: AL, voted ‘no’ to S1177, according to his website, he serves on at least 2 committees where funding occurs. Combine that with his stance that states are choosing CCSS, is a cause, in my opinion, to continue to watch him. See: http://www.shelby.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/legislativeissues?p=Education
Vitter: LA, voted ‘no’ to S1177, due to his stance against CCSS, assessments, privacy violatons (see his education stance on his website page: http://www.vitter.senate.gov/issues/education However, he supports school choice and charter schools (which CCSS is using both of these  to distort education) and is supportive of 21st Century job preparation for students.
Warren: MA, voted ‘no’ to S1177,  due to dissatisfaction over the funding for schools.See Her statement on her website,  http://www.warren.senate.gov/?p=committees(scroll down, look to the right) She’s also friendly towards post secondary alignment efforts. She’s a member of the HELP Committee (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions). HELP has been extremely involved in re-writing ESEA.

Actions We Should Take:

1) Continue to watch Congress for how voting goes.
2) Continue to interact with Congress where HR5, S1177, child care, preK, post-secondary are concerned. EVERY educational level and choice will be impacted by what happens in D.C. concerning the re-authorization of the ESEA.
3) Look, not only at the Congress members’ stances on education, but look at workforce, public-private partnerships, etc. Remember, economy and a trained workforce are 2 of the main CCSS agenda points. NO Congress member should support a CCSS/CTE aligned America. It’s unconstitutional! It’s unAmerican! It violates the oath each Congress member swore to uphold!
4) Thank these 17 Senators for standing with we, the anti CCSS Warriors! Remind them we are watching.

WYBI: Sen. Alexander, the HEA, and Next America

Sen. Alexander has been a huge supporter of aligning education for quite some time, especially where CCSS?CTE are concerned. He’s presently rewriting both the HR5 AND the HEA legislation which will impact (and align) everyone from K-College. Mr. Mitchell, with the U.S. Dept. of Ed has also been at work (quietly) on 5 agenda driven initiatives concerning education. What’s ironic is that while Alexander’s been getting a lot of press, Mitchell has been continuing on in helping the CCSS Machine roll on. Today’s post is Mr. Mitchell’s turn to be featured. (*Note: we’ll look at Sen. Alexander’s portion of this conference in Thursday’s ‘Tech Thursday’ post) So, let’s find out just what Mr. Mitchell shared with the “Next America” folks

First, a bit of history.  If you don’t know what publication the “NJ” is, the website for the National Journal, states the following: National Journal is regarded as the most influential publication in Washington, providing more than 3 million influentials in public policy and business with the insights they need to make government work.  Fiercely honest and scrupulously non-partisan, National Journal has a four-decade history of serving leaders in Washington—and around the country—with trustworthy, in-depth analysis on legislation, politics, and the structural trends shaping America.

If you’re curious as to who owns the National Journal, it’s the Atlantic Media Group. AMG also owns the “Atlantic” magazine (and others). The leadership of the “Atlantic” has proven very friendly toward CCSS. (*Note: here’s an excerpt from my Sept. 2014 article about the Technocratic grasp for education. “The Atlantic Media owner is a favorite featured guest of the Aspen Institute (which has invested over $3 million in Common Core). Aspen, another group pushing Common Core. Aspen also is a big pusher for technology in the classroom. The Conference video:

In its entirety, the Conference is 2 hours and 34 minutes. Subtract from that the first 23, almost 24 minutes of introductory music, you have plenty of time to hear the modern education reform battle cry from more than one person. Leading the charge is Mr. Mitchell, the undersecretary for the U.S. Dept. of Education. The actual dialogue begins at about 26:51. Ted Mitchell’s Speech highlights:

During Mr. Mitchell’s time, he extols the virtues of the ESEA and the HEA; how they are forever joined and how each is a ‘moral imperative’ (see the 27:40 mark). From this point until the 28:50 mark, you’ll hear about the national credentials in education. Following this are the buzzwords ‘pipeline’, ‘equity’, ‘opportunity’. Then at the 29: 04 mark, you’ll hear the buzzword ‘rigorous’ immediately followed by ‘college and career ready’. What could be better, you ask? How about ‘modernizing education via standards and assessments’?Then by the 29:25 time mark, Mr. Mitchell has successfully told the audience that all his previous claims can be ‘deepened by the HEA’.

From this point on you’ll hear some of the following catch phrases or programs. I urge you to take the time to listen to Mitchell’s speech. It’s followed by a one-on-one interview that is also filled with rhetoric for education reform we’ve become used to.
‘Civil right; civic duty’ patriotic message.  America is experiencing ‘islands of excellence’ and creating a template for the future with universal access for all from down to Pre-K and up to college.’ Not content to end there, Mitchell continues on with ‘early college’ and ‘dual enrollment’; a seamless transition for students from 2 year to 4 year schools and (33:50) reaching the President’s North Star. Near the 34:00 mark, listen for the federal role in technology; 36:00 mark, how Congress is needed to back up the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s efforts completed thus far; ’21st Century Learners’; how much better America is since the Feds took over student loans; how Congress needs to empower the U.S. Dept. of Ed even more; making college as a ‘universal learning’ opportunity just like high schools have become; ‘student outcomes’ or ‘outcome based schools’; ‘evidence based interventions’ and finally ‘skills vs. developmental learning’.

Mr. Mitchell will also bring up one more program he’s pushing for the President. It’s called “First in the World” (it’s near the 40:27 mark). What’s FITW? Oh, as by the way the Lumina and Gates Foundation not only helped host this event, they weighed in on WHY the HEA needs to be re-authorized as well. Gates’ guy spoke at the 1 hour, 8 minute mark; Lumina’s president spoke at the 1 hour, 14 minute mark.
