Keeping It Local

Warriors Against the Core, we all know how great it can be to have things available to us without having to go too far from home. BUT, what happens when all the ‘local’ education becomes anything but local?!

We enjoy not having to travel  so far to recieve an education. We need to keep in mind it’s set up for us by those who live far away. We WILL have to adhere to its constraints..like it or not.

It should go without saying that the constraints will include Common Core, in one of its many forms.

The CC Forms Are ‘A-plenty’, But Hardly Original Or Local:

As we know, CC is only one form of the modern education reform’s educratic buzz word ‘game’. There’s the more adult form of CC: CTE (Career Tech Education); then, there’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); there’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math); NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards); NGSS (Next Gen Social Studies); C3 (College, Career, Civics Life); CPs (Career Pathways); AAI (American Apprencticeship Iniatiative); CCR (College/Career Readiness), and, probably others we’ve yet to hear about.

The goal, regardless of the name, is the same: Workforce based education for 21st competency based learners.

As we know, none..not ONE of the above alphabet soup names is locally written, created, inspired, or otherwise fashioned together after. Every bit of the programs above is in the CCSS Machine from a top-down force. I do not mean a D.C. to your backyard force, I mean a globally driven force.

So, it should be NO surprise that when we wake up in our homes across America to face another day, we find the CCSS Machine has made one more stride toward us. Today, it may target your little ones; tomorrow, it might be the adults who are targeted; the following day could see our learners who are gifted tapped for the Machine. We may find that our special needs students will also be ‘blessed’ with educratic reform.

The point of the CCSS Machine is that NO age group will escape the top-down education reform.

The Proof Is Right Before Us:

Maybe you’ve seen, Warriors, the ads on social media for education grants awarded to those citizens in America over 50. That’s right, those over the “Golden Age” can get ‘free money’ to go back to school. But, what real LOCAL influence will these people receive if and when they go back to the classroom?

freeseniors

In the picture above, the article shared that across America, certain community colleges waived tutition for students over 60.

That’s great, right? I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff?! But, as I’ve shared with you time and time again, our community colleges are being used as workforce education mills for the CCSS Machine.

If I’m one of these lovely elderly citizens, I may not know that by going to college for ‘free’ is laced with workforce agenda. If you know someone like this, share my  August 2016 article detailing the CCSS Machine’s power grab for citizens ages 50 and over.

Wait, though…what if I’m a student under age 50?! What waits for me at my local community college or for-profit school?

The CCSS Machine Grinds On:

Warriors, you know we’ve seen and heard plenty to prove CCSS is after the zero to post-secondary set. Somehow, that’s EASY to talk about. But, no matter how much evidence surfaces for those above a college graduate level (say, around 30 years and older), the conversations become hushed, or worse, non-existent.

It’s also quite okay to say CCSS is infiltrating public education. Try using that mindset backed by evidence for all the other school choices and you can be laughed at, scoffed at, or, my favorite; wearing your tin foil hat a bit too tight.

Since we know the CCSS Machine is linked to the UN’s Master Agenda, we should be ready admit that NO AGE limit is to be free and safe from the reform happening.

So, why was education chosen as the ‘silver bullet’ of the change agents?
Education is an on-going process. It is open to any age limit. Learning, without the CCSS Machine, is a natural progression.

Ah, The Aligned and Defined:

Community Colleges, as I’ve proven before are the ideal location for the CCSS Machine to grasp anyone who’s not been its grasp before. How? Think about it, home educated students often choose (or have chosen for them) their local community colleges for dual enrollment, or, as a stop gap between their K-12 education and any further education. Community colleges welcome those who are between careers, needing to take a course of two for their job, rehabilitate a person who’s been in prison, or, anyone going back to school after some absence.

Community Colleges are also beacons in their respective towns. Local taxpayer funds go into these schools..but so do federal dollars. Warriors, that, as we know, is the downfall of every single State in the United States. The local control, the local say completely gets muted when federal funds are involved. So, what’s the latest anti CCSS News as far as community colleges go? How will this news impact any age person who attends a community college?

The Digital “Do-Gooders”:

Warriors, if you’ve not clicked on any of the embedded links so far, you won’t know how ESSA, WIOA, and HEA (Every Student Succeeds Act/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Higher Education Act) are woven into every age group.

That stated, I am positive, you, as an  anti CCSS Warrior, do know about the ‘digital do-gooders’. You know them by their name or their sales pitches. These are the companies which act ‘educational’ with their computer, devices, software, and ‘personalized learning’.

These are the companies which have lobbyists championing the ‘ditch the traditional textbook and let’s get everyone on-line’ sales pitch. All the while, the legislators stare googly-eyed at the prospect of how going 100% digital will make them an ‘education rock star’ with the voters back home. If you believe the hype, there’s so much digital goodness to be had in education, it’s a wonder the entire nation isn’t running over with saints!

One such company, Vital Source has created a wonderful (and I do mean it sarcastically) guide of digital ‘do-goodness’ for EdSurge (a sold out CCSS Machine member organization).

vitalsurge
This short video will show you how all the digital goodness (in this case the data mining) will work together to help your school.

If you are an educator, this video will show you have to ‘leverage’ data for better ‘personalized learning’.

For those who are in the school leadership positions, Google’s using the digital opportunities to include school administrators in the data sharing of what goes on in the classroom. See this article.

Closing:

Warriors, make no mistake, the CCSS Machine has proven time and time again, that by every available means, it is out to assimilate everyone in its path. The question is, how willing are we to stop this?

Anybody Got a Fan?!

My fellow anti CCSS/Fed Ed/ESSA Warriors. I’ve recently finished combing through the NC Draft ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Plan. I’m not a fan of what I read. If your State has released a draft, please get your hands on the information! NC’s is a whopping 145 pages of anything and everything connected to education…and the workforce. I looked up our neighboring State (SC). Theirs is 84 Pages.

I did try to find some other neighboring State’s ESSA Plans as well. Why? I was curious to see just how unique each Plan is shaping up to be. After all, we’ve been told time and time again, ESSA returns control of education back to the States. (*Note: if you’ve followed my blog for a long time, you know how full of BS what we’ve been told is.)

I did see some of the same things in SC’s Plan that I saw in NC’s. Coincedence, no!
Both contain the federal level requirements each State must adhere to.

For example, what type of graduates each State will have. Below is SC’s:

scessaplan
You can find the legislation which made this Profile a SC State Law:

To see and study SC’s ESSA Planhttp://ed.sc.gov/newsroom/every-student-succeeds-act-essa/draft-consolidated-state-plan/

*******************************************************
By contrast, here is NC’s Graphic:

ncessaplan

If you have wondered why BOTH NC and SC have the 4Cs (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication), it’s because the P21 (“Partnership for 21st Century Learning Skills”) has both NC/SC  as ‘member States'(along with several other States). *Noteworthy: The “Partnership” has been a CCSS Machine member group for quite a while.   On the http://www.P21.org website, you can find 50 College/Career Readiness resources. CCR (College and Career Readiness) is also another name for Common Core State Standards. CCR is embedded in ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) ) Find the resources here  **Be sure to look for the ‘grit’, ‘workforce readiness in middle school’, and, more.

From Page 25 of NC’s ESSA Draft Plan:

ncessaplan1By July of 2015, NC had a “The Constitutional Mandate to Provide an Opportunity to a Sound Basic Education: An Update and a Recommendation”. Oddly enough, this 2015 Mandate is NOT all that different from the current NC ESSA Plan which will be submitted to the U.S. Dept. of Education later in 2017. To see the mandate, click here. If you’d like to see NC S561, click here.  To see NC’s ESSA Plan
*********************************************************

What We Can Learn From Both NC And SC To Apply Elsewhere:

1) Both had the 5 or 6 federal mandates of ESSA laid out in their Plans.
{These will all be consistent with the Secretary of Education’s authority}:
a) Long-Term Education Goals
b) Consultation/Performance Management toward Long-Term Goals
c) Academic Assessments
d)  Accountability and Support for School Improvement
e) Supporting Excellent Educators
f) Supporting All Students

2) Both will continue education which aligns to College/Career Readiness (aka Common Core, Career Tech Education, etc.).

3) Both will continue to update OR create State-level laws to support the educational shift FROM academics to skill based workforce.

4) Both appear to have no plans to cut the ties with the CCSS Machine member organizations we find so entrenched in our lives. (Example: Pearson, P21, Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), etc.)

5) Both will continue to include non-educators in the education process.

6) Both will continue to see Workforce Education efforts and legislation.

7) Both will more than likely continue their membership statuses in P21, CCSSO, and the other CCSS Machine member groups steering the shift in education.

8) Both will continue to workforce skill based assesssments like ACT Aspire, WorkKeys, etc.

**BOTTOM LINE: None of the State ESSA Draft Plans will differ MUCH from what is in place now. What’s in place now IS CCSS/CCR/CTE aligned. It will stay that way, but be called “Challenging State Academic Standards”.
**************************************************

Other Things Of Note From NC’s Plan:
I wanted to leave you with some other key items of interest.

1) U.S. Dept. of Education’s Date Stamp: 12/22/16 (NC’s ESSA Draft Plan expires 11/30/19).

2) From Page 2, ESEA’s (Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965) Section 8302 sets out in that the U.S. Secretary of Education is permitted to establish procedures/criteria after consulting with the State officials. Our State Education Agency then submits the Plan. The Secretary must establish every program in Section 8302 including the State’s materials and resources for education. (*Note: ESEA’s Section 8302 is Optional Consolidated State Plans or Applications. ESSA’s Section 1005 is simply titled “State Plans”. Do not be fooled by the simple title.)

2a) Also on Page 2, every State’s Consolidated Education ESSA Plan must create 1 comprehensive way to improve ‘outomes’ for students.

2b) Included in Page 2’s language is that all State Plans must meet the requirements of Section 427 of the General Education Provisions Act. (See a screen shot below)

section427
3) From Page 3 of NC’s ESSA Plan, Only after the U.S. Dept. of Education approves a State Plan, will these Plans be made public. The preferred method for publicity is to be in a published form.

4) Page 4 reveals our State’s Director of Data, Research, and Federal Policy.

5) Page 17 shows the Federal Program for Monitoring and Support Division of the U.S. Dept. of Ed. From this Division, $463,000,000.00 in federal funds for annual grants are available to school districts. (Watch for an increase in data collection). Here in NC, a Senior Leader Council is used to determine which districts/schools receive our portion of these grants. Based on 3 prongs: i) our Comprehensive Continuous Improvement Plan; ii) to be used by LEAs, charter schools, and non-government organizations to receive competitive federal funds, and iii) the NC Equity Plan (from the NC Dept. of Public Instruction) for data collection.

6) Page 25 tells what is considered as ‘academic indicators’. These are also known as ‘measures’. In order: Academic Achievement, Academic Progress, Graduation Rates, English Language Proficiency, School Quality, and Student Success. Page 28 will show you how the ‘meaningful differentation’ used in these indicators simply means ‘distinct and discrete levels of school performance’. (*Note: the shift from student to the entire school being measured.)

7) Page 29, points you to the School Quality or Student Success indicators. They are, in order: chronic absences, attendance, student engagement, student’s participation in co-curricular activities, physical activity, student participation in the arts, suspensions, teacher engagement, parent involvement, End of Grade exams (or End of Course exams) only in science, the CCR Index (College and Career Readiness Index includes AP Courses, IB Courses, WorkKeys Assessments, ACT, and (here in NC) 5 Diploma Endorsements (these are Career and College, UNC College, NC Academic Scholar, and Global Language). From the bottom of Page 29 to the top of Page 30, this “all schools must be included in the accountability system.” What NC hasn’t figured out yet is HOW to update the indicators above for every school type. How well each State does with this determines the weight of the Success Indicator. Federal education code lays this out, NOT a State’s law!

8) Page 30 goes into the 95 % assessment participation rates as mandated in ESSA. How will the States factor this? What data mining/gathering procedures will be used? How will all the schools without sufficient data gathering, or alternative schools (K-12th) be accountable?

9) Page 33 uses a word we’ve all come to loathe: “rigor”. Yes, we’ll see more of it! However, it’s interesting that once again, it’s the ESEA cited here, NOT the ESSA. Related is Page 38 with its mention of NC’s love for UDL (Universal Design for Learning). According to NC, UDL helps ensure all students will be College and Career Ready.

10) Skipping ahead to Page 97 are the “Challenging State Academic Standards for Math” in NC. They will be the EXACT ones used in the 2016-17 academic year!! “Challenging State Academic Standards for English Language Arts”? They haven’t been released yet, as they are still being ‘written’.

A Bonus Item!! Way back in the pages of the NC ESSA Draft Plan is the gold mine of all those CCSS Machine friendly ‘stakeholders’ in education we have wondered about. Pages 137-140 reveal the ESSA external stakeholders in education. Some we know about (example: Teach for America). Some are a bit surprising to see (example: Americans for Prosperity, NC Branch).

Closing:

Warriors, I’ve laid large chunks of evidence before you to illustrate how much of a farce it seems to be that our States will get to control education in the manner in which it has been explained since ESSA was signed into federal law December 2015.

Please take what you see here, start looking at what your State is doing. How similar is it to what you see here? What has remained the same in your State’s education sytem, what has been updated? What groups are involved?

Spin Cycle, Anyone?!

Would any of you Anti CCSS/Fed Ed Warriors care to guess how the Center for Education Reform (CER) is spinning the 2016 Election results?!

If you don’t know the CER, here is my published article about them from earlier this year:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/06/21/shrills-call/ (*Note: you’ll learn how the CER is ‘buddy-buddy’ the BRT (Business Roundtable); how their I+O (Innovation plus Opportunity) Manifesto is reshaping education; and more.)

Because we know BRT has long ago sold out to the CCSS Machine, it isn’t hard to imagine CER has also jumped in the Machine as well.

Read, watch, or listen to either of these two organization’s propaganda long enough and you’ll see the spinning is always geared to CTE (Career Tech Education), CC (Common Core), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and most recently..CCR (College/Career Readiness). Yes, the ‘brain bleach’ is served up daily!
bleachedbrain

Bring On the “Soap Sales Pitch”!

On 11/9/16, the CER CEO, Jeanne Allen offered her congratulations to President-elect Trump. Like a great soap saleswoman, Allen laid the innovation and opportunity agenda thickly. Here is most of what she stated, ” “Our hope is that in the coming days President-elect Trump and his transition advisors will consider all good ideas and begin to learn from the myriad people working throughout the nation who are transforming their schools and communities.
President-elect Trump – We believe there is much you can do to address the hopes and dreams of all who elected you. We hope you will embrace innovation, applaud and incentivize ambitious state efforts to create opportunity for all learners at all levels, reject the status quo and think hard about all those you appoint to support you and the needs of citizens everywhere. We will provide concrete recommendations for you to consider in the days and weeks ahead. Until then, congratulations. And welcome to Washington.” ”

Warriors, do you see the problems?
1) IF Trump is to reject ‘status-quo’ education, it would mean his promise to pull the plug on Common Core would be the way to go, NOT have the CER and similar groups already knee deep in a bucket of CCSS/CTE ‘polluted water’, influence him. However, we saw this very scene play out when Obama took office…those who advised him steered him right into the CCSS Machine.

2) By encouraging Mr. Trump to CONTINUE to incentivize States is a replay of the Obama/Duncan RttT funding! How in the name of ‘clean laundry’ will we EVER be free from the CCSS Machine with advice like this?!

3) “All learners at all levels”..what an overloaded lint trap of danger that statement is!!
Warriors, repeatedly, I (along with other anti CCSS Warriors) have proven to you that between the toxic trio of ESSA, HEA, and WIOA (Every Student Succeeds Act/Higher Education Act/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), the workforce based education reform spans from babies to grandparents! I have to pause here for a moment to interject that I think someone has gotten a bit too close to the electrical outlet.

bowl-of-stupid

CER’s Look At Governors:

Because the CCSS Machine has done a spiffy good job of top-down-micromanaging our education system, CER would be remiss if it didn’t ‘check the pockets’ of  each of the 12 Governors seeking office. That stated, CER keeps all 50 Governors on a tight laundry schedule. (See the Governors’ grades at CER’s “Education 50” webpage:
https://www.edreform.com/education-50/)

Of the 12 Governors, only NC’s (where I live) is too close to call, as of this article.

Wait! Senators Ahead!

As far as how ‘fresh’ the Senate will be in the coming D.C. Session of lawmaking, see below.

cersenateWarriors, I do not know about you, but I’m seeing quite a bit of ‘dirty CCSS/CTE laundry’ in this screen shot. If you know of just how sold out to the CCSS Machine any of these people are, please be sure to share your information.

It is only then that we, the Anti CCSS Warriors, can ‘clean their clocks’!!

For ‘my’ Senator (Burr) here’s what I know about his ties to CCSS and/or CTE,
(use this as an example of how you can tie your leaders to the CCSS AND CTE overreaches)

a) Much of his work to re-arrange Title One funding formulas made it into ESSA.

b) He voted Yes to ESSA (S1177) on Dec. 9th, 2015; the very next day, Pres. Obama signed the Bill as federal law.(from his website: http://www.burr.senate.gov/press/releases/24-million-per-year-for-nc-schools-common-core-repeal-heads-to-presidents-desk)
from the Congress Vote Tracking site: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/114-2015/s334

c) He supported NCLB, too (Source: http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Richard_Burr.htm
Note: first bullet point on his education views.)

d) He has voted against some CCSS Machine related items, but still supports many other items. Source: http://www.ontheissues.org/Social/Richard_Burr_Education.htm

e) He has worked hand-in-hand with Sen. Mikulski on getting Child Care and Development Block Grants(CCDBGs) updated. While the main federal agency this is housed under HHS (Health and Human Services), it also has SOME shared programs with the U.S. Dept. of Ed. I found the CCDBGs in the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Office of Non-Public Education. (See: http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/oii/nonpublic/childcare.html) With ESSA encompassing early education and in-home visits/assessments, this is a big deal.

f) Lastly, Burr is a member of the U.S. Senate HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) Committee. Look below to see how many of the Committee members were just re-elected and given a ‘shout out’ by the CER (Center for Education Reform):

Pre-treat Those “Education Stains”:

If you are not sure why the S3271 and HR5587 are more ‘dirty laundry’ created by the CCSS Machine, please use this side by side comparison chart I created a few months ago. You’ll note that there are also 2 other Congressional Bills I included. Please, look closely, you’ll see why. (*Note: S3190 is Sen. Franken’s ‘load’; S3174 is a huge warning to us all we need to move quickly to halt this activity!)

Getting Hung Out to Dry:

The CER also shared in their 2016 Elections Results that 2 State School Superintendents lost their re-elections. One, was Dr. June Atkinson from here in NC. While we, the local anti CCSS Warriors are thrilled she will be leaving, the rest of the nation needs to watch her. Why? She is the President of the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers). CCSSO not only owns 1/2 of the copyrights to the CCS Standards, they have produced mounds of alignment materials to CCSS, CTE, and now ESSA. If you want to see the CCSSO’s CCR (College/Career Readiness webpage) and how this ties to CTE,

(*Note: if you are curious if CCSSO has anything to do with the HEA, Higher Education Act, be sure to do a general search on their website.)

Warriors Against the Core, we have got to get D.C. out of education NOW. Having these career politicians (and yes, some new comers who’ve sold out), we are going to keep seeing our country digress. It’s kind of like having someone throw a red sock in a load of white socks. They all come out the same shade of ruined laundry.

Inclined to Disagree

It’s a new work week, but the same ole rhetoric from D.C. when it comes to the federal role in education.

Late last week, Rep. Kline of the U.S. House of Representatives’s Education and Workforce Committee, released a statement of his disdain for the U.S. Department of Education’s ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) overreach  into teacher preparation for today’s K-12 classrooms. Below is a screen shot. The statement came to my email account.

klinestatement

Sorry, Representative Kline, I disagree with your ‘disdain’. Why? It’s as fake as a $3.00 bill! Quite frankly, the posturing needs to be saved for Broadway, not Washington D.C.’s government chambers and levied on the people as gospel.

Why would I call the Chairman of the Committee’s words false? The research proves it.
For starters IF the Representative had READ the ESSA as thoroughly as he should of BEFORE he voted on it, he would KNOW that the teacher preparation and alignment to the CCSS Machine was ALREADY written in BEFORE Dr. King was confirmed.

Then there the fact he is bosom buddies with Sen. Lamar Alexander!

Add to that that the ENTIRE Ed/Workforce Committee is doing EVERYTHING it can to INCREASE CTE (Career Tech Education, the adult form of K-12’s Common Core/College and Career Readiness)! IF Rep. Kline, again, had read the ESSA as thoroughly as we Warriors did, he’d know that the plan ALL along was to INCREASE the College/Career Readiness via the CTE and Career Pathways. But wait, maybe he DID know and has been playing us all along?!

No matter which, his statement points to using the HEA (Higher Education Act) to FIX the overreach into teacher preparation for leading K-12. Duh?!

What have I been researching and sharing about this all along?! HEA is the LAST link in the cradle to grave education for workers ‘bridge’.

Of COURSE teachers are to be aligned! ESSA states it VERY plainly. So, crying ‘FOUL’ over what Dr. King’s doing is a typical CCSS Machine fallacy-filled move! The biggest fallacy (which has been successfully used repeatedly by the CCSS Machine) is the ‘bandwagon fallacy’. I absolutely love fallacies and logic study. I led several classes for this a few years back. From my favorite logic study authors, the Bluedorn Brothers (“Fallacy Detectives”), here’s a simple example for ‘bandwagon’, “Clyde: “Dad, can I go to see the movie “Attack of the Killer Wombats?” Dad: “No, son, you can’t go. I heard that movie has bad things in it.” Clyde: “Awe, come on, everybody’s going to see it.” ” Below, you’ll see a bit more in-depth example.

klinesbandwagon
Now, I don’t go off on this side bar for nothing. Many of us know that the ‘bandwagon’ has been a major hit in times past. My point however, is this, if we REALLY know how it’s being used against us, we gain another way to strike back!!

In our War vs. the Core, this is vital! Especially with all the policy making going on while Congress is at home. Oh, come on, you don’t think they are SO focused on the elections, they’d let an opportunity to create MORE P3 (public private partnership) opportunities collect dust until AFTER the elections, did you? I haven’t! Here’s why. When ESSA was passed into law, Sen. Alexander declared the HEA was next. Before Rep. Kline left for the Fall break a few weeks ago, he stated that his buddy, Alexander would take care of education when he got back to D.C. after the elections.

Warriors, they are all but baiting us with moves like this. I also think it’s wise to remember that the 2017 Fed Ed Budget (at least while they were still requests) had plenty of evidence about the teacher alignment (aka: professional development). I shared with you then all the CCSS Machine members who were going to be conducting all this development, too.

Resources:

In a previous article, I shared with you the word play that was going on surrounding the HEA. Here’s an excerpt of why it’s re-authorization should very much be on our radar for action items after the elections, “ The latest re-authorization of the HEA was back in 2008.
1) The first item of business(after the Title description) in the HEA Extension is NOT the Perkins money. (That is, in fact, the second item of business.) The National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) and its Extension.

What does the NACIQI do?
Per the 2008 version of the HEA, this group follows the recommendations of the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary in both accreditation and requirements for higher educational institutions to meet and uphold in order to receive funding. If you want to learn more about their powers, see:  http://www2.ed.gov/about/bdscomm/list/naciqi.html ”

I published this article, below, just days before the ESSA was passed. In it is a very detailed connect the dots for how much purposed alignment between the ESSA/WIOA and eventually the HEA.

We Warriors discovered the ties, but our legislators either didn’t discover in time, or just didn’t care. Either way, it was another fast tracked mammoth bill which became law and is grinding us all down. https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/12/05/weekend-news-essas-untold-ties-to-hea/

This article will give you not only how ‘free college’ (and its use as an election tool) helps align education and workforce/WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and ESSA to the HEA, but links to the 2017 Fed Ed Budget article I published on higher education alignment.

As far as Rep. Kline’s supposed distress about the overreach of the U.S. Education, consider this article where I show you the well known groups using the language of ESSA’s mandates to set our school leaders up for alignment. While Kline is not mentioned, his good buddy Alexander sure is. Surely, though Kline knew earlier about some of these shifts. Look at the content between work and education!

If we are to believe Rep. Kline’s remarks about HEA fixing the problem and not U.S. Dept. of Ed/ESSA, be sure to ask him about these page numbers from the ESSA’s Final Conference Report. (This is an excerpt of my of my articles) “Teachers,  School Leaders, Non-Profits, For-Profits Inside and Outside the Classrooms: Pages 300/301; Page 302; Pages 323, 324; Page 344; Pages 347-349; 351-357; Page 406; and Section 9210 (yes, as in the Data paragraph above). In one ‘crunch’, see my “School Board Special Part 3”, for not only more revealed rottenness for teachers and leaders, but you will see more about intrusive data mining, as well as whole community alignment all in the name of ‘challenging state academic standards’ for student competency based education.” To see the entire article:

Finally, why I think Rep. Kline is being overly dramatic with his bandwagon use.
He knows full well that the U.S. Dept. of Education oversees Higher Education as well as K-12 education, and, early education.

Suggesting an updated piece of legislation (which is illegally based) to fix a problem created by another illegally based (updated) piece of legislation which is overseen by an illegally based federal agency is quite redundant.

It is also a disgrace to our nation’s checks and balances. Lastly, it is one of the most see-through attempts at manipulation over a group of citizens known as Americans, not minions.

Bees in NC’s Bonnet, Parts 1 and 2

Warriors, we are faced with all kinds of count-downs lately. Thirty-eight days until election; so many days until a new President; count-downs until our holidays, and more.

However, regardless of ALL this counting, day in/day out, our teachers, students, and families are receiving the stinging bites of the busy bee-like CCSS Machine members/groups.

It’s enough to drive us mad. I hope we are not only mad, but as aggressive in fighting back, as the CCSS Machine is cranking out their bitter poison.

As you know, NC is where my home is for now. If you’ve followed my blog long, you know the amount of CCSS Machine alignment bred here.

As far as the picture above, that’s NC’s official state insect. As bee colonies go, there’s always a queen.

Here in NC, her name is Dr. June Atkinson. She’s our State Superintendent (probably counting down the days until she hopes to be re-elected for the umpteenth time) AND the President of the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers). As you well know CCSSO has made no bones about their devotion to the CCSS Machine.

Now that our nation faces a count-down to August 2017 (When all 50 States MUST have ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) implemented), what else is in the NC CCSS apiary?

Part One:
Honey, It’s a Beehive of Deception in NC:

Recently, I was contacted by a very concerned grandparent (Grandma J) who lives west of me in Caldwell County, NC. Her concern? A conversation she had with 3 school board candidates (running for office in Nov. 2016). According to Grandma, all 3 told her that there was absolutely no Common Core in Caldwell, or in NC as a state, for that matter. That Common Core was gone. Grandma’s a Warrior, she’s invited me up to her neck of the woods several times to reveal what my anti CCSS research has found for NC, as well as our nation.

Grandma J also shared that these candidates (up for re-election) do not get to see the curriculum for their county; that they are sent papers to sign (aka: rubber stamp), told pretty much what to do, but NOT get to be a truly LOCAL Board. Well, we can thank Dr. Atkinson for that, but we’d also have to thank legislators. In the screen shot below, look at why I would say this.

Hhmmm…I’m flashing back to a 2014 NC School Board meeting in Cabarrus County (southeast of me). When I revealed credible evidence about the number of assessments truly embedded in what NC schools use, I was called a ‘lunatic’. When I challenged the school board member, what I got was ‘we do what we’re told. If Raleigh says ‘jump’, we jump. We don’t ask ‘where’, we just do it. They do tell us how to jump.’

As being a mighty Warrior, Grandma J has once again called me and asked for help. Grandma J, this is for you to share with them.

Since this one NC County (there are 100 in all) has it mandated to follow all federal and state regulations NOT in the current NC (Common Core) Essential State Standards, guess what this means?

That every piece of legislation already connected to NCLB, RttT, Common Core State Standards, College/Career Readiness, STEM, Career Tech Education, dual enrollment, early College Promise, AP classess, learn-to-earn apprenticeships, on-line virtual public NC Schools is LOCKED in! ESSA will only INCREASE the lock-down! WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) is also not only already in place in Caldwell County, NC, but nation-wide!  WIOA’s embedded in ESSA.

If you’ve traveled anywhere in NC (or in your State) and seen “One Stop Job Centers”, WIOA’s in your town and Common Core/Career Tech, including STEM are in your schools.

This screen shot reveals some eye opening evidence that the ‘NC educational sweet spin’ isn’t telling you the whole truth,

I’ve written PLENTY about how sold out to the CCSS Machine, AdvancED is. You are free to search my blog for the articles, there are that many.

However, let me share with you, an excerpt from their 2013-2014 Annual Report, AdvancED combines the knowledge and expertise of a research institute, the skills of a management consulting firm and the passion of a grassroots movement for educational change. While our expertise is grounded in more than one hundred years of experience accrediting schools, AdvancED is much more than an accrediting agency. Our goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, our commitment is to help schools improve.”

To see their  entire CCSS Machine ‘driven expertise’:
http://www.advanc-ed.org/sites/default/files/documents/AE-AnnualReport2013-14.pdf

Considering the screen shot above and the fact AdvancED is SO devoted to the CCSS Machine that they’ve got ESSA alignment plans going, I fail to see how great this is for NC..or any other State! I wrote extensively about AdvancED, ESSA, and the US:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/06/06/blenders-ready/

For Those Who Are Convinced NC Is Now ‘Common Core Free’:

1) NC DPI where CCSS is plainly stated and is currently in use state-wide:
http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/curriculum/

2) NC State Ed Policies for ‘Global ready’, which is connected to the CCSS Machine:
http://sbepolicy.dpi.state.nc.us/policies/GCS-L-004.asp?pri=01&cat=L&pol=004&acr=GCS /

3) NC DRAFT (literacy), CCSS aligned:
http://www.ncpublicschools.org/docs/sbe-archives/meetings/2012/05/gcs/05gcs01attach01.pdf

4) NC’s Wikispaces where you’ll see CCSS and Essential Standards. (ES has been passed off as the ‘no CCSS’ in NC)

So there you go, Grandma J, lots to help your local school board see the truth!

Part Two:
NC ‘Bred’, Nation Fed:

These websites will show you how MORE NC bee-stinging, CCSS Machine alignment is going on. If you’d like to see my vast array of articles on other NC CCSS joint efforts, please search the blog.

1) Triangle Universities Center for Advanced Studies Inc.  This NC organization (TUCASI)  has been around since 1975. It’s basically a large park with lots of space for UNC (University of NC), Wake Forest University, and Duke University to combine their efforts for ‘research’. Sadly, every one of these has long since sold out to Common Core in some way. They have no plans, it appears of slowing down.

Since Common Core came to town, TUCASI been busy as a bee aligning all it can. For example, our National Humanities Institute is located here.

Sponsors of this Institute (when you go the website, it states “National Humanities Center”) include some very big CCSS Machine members, including the National Endowment of the Humanities. I exposed the Endowment back in 2015. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/12/rmt-national-humanity-common-core-style/ (*Note: the National Endowment for the Arts has also sold out, but is not NC specific.)

To see the list of CCSS Machine sponsors: http://nationalhumanitiescenter.org/who-we-are/

To see the other research projects of TUCASI: http://www.rtp.org/tucasi/

2) Located in Carrboro, NC is the Advanced Learning Partnerships,
http://www.advancedpartnerships.com/
This group likes to call themselves ALP. They also love to spread their models for educational innovation for K-Higher Ed nation-wide. Leading them is Amos Fodchuk. He’s got a Masters degree and is a “veteran of the high school classroom, Amos is a National Board Certified Teacher (VA, 2006), a Fulbright Scholar and recipient of over 20 awards for educational excellence and innovation.  His range of experience in the development and implementation of innovative, strategic learning models currently supports education partnerships across 25 states.”

You’ll find personalized learning, blended learning, data measuring, and SO much more:
http://www.advancedpartnerships.com/services

If you’ve heard of Districts of Innovation, ALP is into it; if you’ve heard about “ClassTalk” or “Innovators PIE”, ALP is leading it. While I couldn’t find specific partners, I did see Dell Computers joined ALP for ‘blended learning’ in Georgia. See: http://www.advancedpartnerships.com/read-me/

The LIFT Initiative in WA has ALP all over it:

Warriors, I hope that regardless of where you live, you can use this information. Grandma J’s got every right to not only be concerned, but seeking help to inform others. Remember, there are some fantastic folks in our school systems. Folks are not our target, the CCSS Machine IS! If you’ve got a fantastic school system member in trouble, you help them; you don’t attack them.

Between my eye opening article about the ICANN’s ties to the CCSS Machine/global angenda to this article, you’ve got plenty of digital/technology stuff to fill Pooh Bear’s Honey Pot several times over. BUT, there’s more. Just released late yesterday (10/3), was the announcement about several internet giants creating a new AI (Artificial Intelligence) Council. Their focus will include education/social justice/technology. Google is among them. Here’s a short video:

Article announcing the Council:

100, 500, and Still Counting

Celebrating my 100 anti CCSS/Fed Ed blog followers AND my 500th post! We’ve come quite a long way together. I pray our time together will continue to be fruitful. We seek not fame or fortune in what we do to fight the CCSS Machine. We ARE, however, leaving a legacy of patriotism, devotion to remaining free, and love for our people, regardless of educational choices. We do what we do to help each other, not to stand on each other’s shoulders. How absolutely refreshing it would be to see our leaders do the same.

Numbers..Everywhere!

There’s a double purpose to using numbers in this article. One of the best ways to get news out is social media. However, some sites are more oppressive than others. So, purpose #1 is to celebrate, purpose #2 is to hide the article in plain sight on social media.

I’m Not the Only One Spinning Numbers:

ICYMI: My latest article which was banned on Facebook revealed how numbers will be shifted to abuse teachers via ESSA and Title 2 Funds; how special needs and their IDEA funds via ESSA get squeezed; how numerous families across our nation will now be receiving “Family Engagement Ambassadors” aka U.S. Dept. of Ed Parent Nannies.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/bon-voyage-hello-grinders/

Then, there are the numbers CCSS Machine member/publisher McGraw-Hill are trying to spin in their most recent survey. I just found this one yesterday.

mcgrawed

Oh, I cannot stop chuckling over how stupid this company assumes us to be by a quiz like this!

dumb

So, what questions does McGraw-Hill have? The brief introduction tells you they got together with top education research groups to create this. Can’t you just smell the CCSS Machine stench already? But wait, it gets deeper. Scroll down to the bottom of the main page and you’ll see it’s a survey to point to the 2016 elections!! I kid you not.

Q1) Proficiency in math question. (Source: the NAEP scores)
Q2)  About ELLs (English Language Learners) (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed’s National Center for Educational Stats)
Q3)  U.S.’s world rank in reading. (Source: PISA)
Q4)  Low-income students percentage. (Source: Southern Education Foundation)
Q5)  Internet speed in schools. (Source: Education Superhighway) *Note: according to the explanation, 3/4 of the country NOW exceeds the FCC’s requirement.
Q6)   High school graduation numbers. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed)
Q7) Cost of remediation in colleges. (Source: Education Reform Now)
Q8) How long it takes to graduate college. (Source: National Student Clearinghouse Research Center)
Q9) Students who need financial aid. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed’s National Center for Educational Stats)
Q10) Unemployment for college graduates. (Source: NY Times)
Q11) Student loan defaults. (Source: U.S. Dept. of Ed)
Q12) Over your lifetime question. (Source: College Board) *Note: CB states that the BIGGEST pay increase happens at the Bachelor degree stage.

To take the survey: http://www.mheducation.com/ideas/how-much-you-know-us-education-quiz.html

Oh, and you’ll find it ironic that I ‘flunked’ this survey from the “how many did you get correct” viewpoint. Oh well, flunking a CCSS Member group survey is not something I will fret over. On the more serious side of this survey though, look at the questions agenda points, the sources cited, and what will be more than likely coming soon.

Remember, the ‘fine print’ points all this to the November 2016 elections. Helping drive the conversation? None other than McGraw-Hill’s CEO. Read his article, https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/lets-talk-education-david-levin

If you would like more CCSS Machine numbers, McGraw-Hill ever-so-nicely embedded their Workforce Readiness 2016 Study in the CEO’s article..and think, just in time to influence our votes.

mcgrawwork
Check out this bunch of numbers from the Study:

workreadyslide

I’ve got an idea, use this screen shot as proof that your State’s CTE (Career Tech Education), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), as well as CCSS (Common Core State Standards or by their ‘new’ name, CCR, College and Career Readiness) Tracks, Paths, etc. AREN’T WORKING!!

This Study also plays the ‘gender card’. That’s something you may wish to see. You may wish to see how McGraw-Hill’s plays into Pearson Publishing ‘gender intelligence’ CCSS Machine plan. If you didn’t know about Pearson Publishing ‘GI’, I’ve got your back.

Need More Numbers?

10/17/16: US PIE (United States Parents Involved in Education) “Keep Your Child Home From School Day” to protest the U.S. Dept. of Ed on its 40th anniversary. See:
http://www.uspie.org/protest-fed-ed-.html

I have understood via social media that more groups besides US PIE are doing something ‘radical’ for Ed’s 40th anniversary.  As long as we Warriors Against the Core are rebelling against educational tyranny on that day (or for that matter, every day), I think the message will become even louder. If we could unite our events, beyond  our usual circles of influence, we could teach Congress what true teamwork CAN do! As always, know that I am all for speaking out, just be safe and respectful.

This number:

Congress, 9/29/16; call! Protest the move to remove American internet and give it total global access. Knowing how much ESSA is spending on digital, Internet, and all related parts, we NEED our privacy as in tact as we can to protect our children.

See my dear fellow Warriors (Gretchen Logue/Cheri Kiesecker) warning article!

Closing:

Warriors, I’ll have more news about numbers and legislation soon. In the meantime, fight, fight, with all your might!  I leave you with a short clip from a TV show in the 1960s called “The Prisoner”. The show was one my Daddy loved. I hated it. I was so young, it scared me.

While I don’t know the entire plot, I do know the main character was not free to be himself. He was assigned a number; his name no longer necessary. Of all the things we give our children, their names are their very first gift upon their birth. Their names are beautifully hand-picked, lovingly chosen, and carry on our family identities. Much like “The Prisoner”, our children are in danger of losing who they truly are.

No Truer Words

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, a few hours ago, the U.S. House of Representatives’ Education/Workforce Committee hearing wrapped up. In the ‘feature’ picture you see above, it’s an explanation of the Article 1, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution.

As expected, the Hearing WAS a ‘dog and pony show’, of sorts. There were ‘expert witnesses’ alright, there were supposedly ‘angered’ Representatives, too. What was missing was the usual hand picked ‘successful’ citizens backing up this latest episode of “We Love the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Show”. The entire Hearing is below.

“Nothing But the Truth”:

As a Warrior Against Fed Ed and as a citizen of the United States, we know this phrase is one that is most serious. If you’ve already listened to the Hearing, you will note that each of the 4 witnesses had to recite this pledge. I’ll side track myself for a moment to say that each of our Representatives ALSO made a pledge of similar sorts when they took office.
Those words are :

congressjobtruthMaybe, we Warriors should demand they take this oath every day they serve, rather than just after their election. I think it would leave NO question in their minds as to what their ‘sense’ of  leadership should be. I feel we really should demand something drastic from our Congress members. They clearly are NOT upholding their jobs.

art1

Some Objective Truths to Balance Those Subjective Ones:

During the Hearing I took lots of notes. Below are just a few. Subjective truth is italicized. Objective is in bold type.

During the Opening Statements,
1) Proposed ESSA Regulations, especially for Title One funding are ‘unlawful and must be investigated’.  The original press release stated this Hearing was to center around supplementing and supplanting funding in the ESSA, with a focus on two areas: a) Title 3 funding (used in post-secondary education) and regulatory fiat (whatever it takes to make the Regulations happen.) This hearing did NOT discuss Title 3 funds NOR did it clearly state what needed to be done to make the ESSA Regulations so.

What the Hearing did do was point fingers at each other in Congress; lay blame on the U.S. Dept. of Education, label those opposed to ESSA and/or the Proposed Regulations as ‘disingenuous’. While the supplement/supplant discussion DID go on to some extent,  is was absolutely awful HOW the exchange went.

2) ESSA was a truly bipartisan effort that the U.S. President signed. Clearly sending a message to the people of  united authority. Now, the U.S. Dept. of Education is interfering with that authority. IF (and I say this with all the gumption I possess) the U.S. Congress had read their copy of the U.S. Constitution, as well as the U.S. President, they would recognize their authority is limited, not absolute! IF (and again, with gumption) the U.S. Congress had taken the time to read ESSA, they would know the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary was  given increased power.

In fact, in the early pages of the ESSA, the language reads that Dr. King, as Secretary of Education, is the one in charge of an orderly transition nationwide in the implementation of ESSA. However, that I know of, no CONGRESS member read the ESSA before they voted on it! There was not physically enough time. It was another ‘wham-bam, thank you ma’am’ piece of illegally based legislation.

3) ESSA must be carried out as it was written. This Hearing is to protect families and students. The supporting evidence shown around this time was from Section 1118(b) (2), not from the ESSA bill or law, but from its FORMER version when it was a Senate specific Bill without the House’s compromise!  IT (ESSA) was written as its being carried out!

The States control, flexibility, the choices..all well written fallacies. Those who wrote the ‘bipartisan’ Law should know this. As far as protecting? If the families and students were underneath the seats of the Committee today, they were successful. Otherwise the only protection afforded was to each Committee member’s backside.

edessasenate

How many people do you think will see the point Congress is trying to be make? That the U.S. Dept. of Ed is in violation, especially its leader. When using evidence which is NOT truly from ESSA, but a former version of itself?!
More than likely the CCSS Machine will only show that the Sec. of Education is over-stepping. It will not show Congress as not being responsible in any way.

Congress is being very sloppy here. Yes, they should rein in Dr. King. But then, they should not have allowed his confirmation. They should know the Constitution and their oath of office demands they not allow any federal overreach in education.

4) CTE (Career Technical Education), Vocational Tech, Advanced Placement, Magnet Schools, Education Savings Accounts, and College/Career Readiness(CCR( all need not only MORE money to give education equity, but we must ramp up these options while creating ones to compliment them.
Congress has proven, by their own words, that not only do they NOT know WHY ESSA’s imploding before their eyes, but, that they are SO clueless about education they are professing they do NOT know their own districts. Yet the ‘obvious solution’ is MORE taxpayer money for CCSS Machine education.

CTE is vocational tech remade with the CCSS/CCR Standards and Assessments! Magnet Schools and AP Courses, have all been made over to confine to the CCSS Standards and Assessments. The Education Savings Accounts are only MORE ways to burden taxpayers with levies and bonds in the pseudo name of school choice geared to the CCSS Machine.

Closing:

Warriors, this is by NO means all I could share from the Hearing today, but I want to leave you with this. When you see/hear Congress members asking ‘supposed’ experts what Congress’s  job is, it should be a huge warning sign to us all.

Look for more information about the most recent Congressional moves coming in the next few days. We must be alert! We must make concerted moves to dispel these ‘subjective truths’ being sold as facts. Why? Given the tones of the most recent Ed/Workforce Press Releases, the goal of Congress appears to be criticize and level the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s power and use that power as their own.

As the Hearing went on, the competency based, career readiness rhetoric increased. At the end of the day, when you put the issues of Title One, equity, and all else in the Hearing aside.
It is my belief that the supposed anger directed to the U.S. Dept. of Education is a ruse. Shifting the blame, posing as  education’s savior (especially when you claim you are clueless), and suggesting money is the only solution shows Ed/Workforce wasn’t truly about ‘whatever it takes’, but ‘whomever to blame besides us’  today.

Either way it’s spun federal supplanting or supplementing of education funds is illegal.

WDED?!

The ‘burning’ question: WDED? Or, “What Did Education Do?”    Too stupid much!

Think of it as this way, my, anti CCSS Warriors. What ‘our’ U.S. Dept. of Education is doing since ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has become law makes as much sense as a sponge wearing pants.

Before I get to why I’m comparing a federal agency to a fictional character, let me back track a few days to my article about Dr. King’s road trip. Since taking over the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary role, Dr. King has stunned us almost daily with one agenda program or mandate after another. So when ‘his’ road trip (which, by the way WE are paying for with our tax dollars), hit the press,  I hit it even harder.

From my “King’s Bandwagon, It’s A-comin'”, here are his words, ” “I hope in the end it’s that folks see that they have a stake in the success of other people’s children. The reality is you can’t build walls high enough to keep the fate of your kids separate from the fate of the kid down the block, down the street, down the road, in the next community over – all our kids’ fates are bound up together. And the work that we’re doing on supplement not supplant, the work that we’re doing on socioeconomic diversity in schools and promoting efforts to increase school diversity, all of that is about saying we are one community and we are ultimately stronger together.” ”
  See the entire article, https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/08/kings-bandwagon-its-a-comin/

So, ‘ED’s’ On the Road:

While Dr. King was in D.C., he appeared to be on what is a Southern term for well mannered, “minding his Ps and Qs”. But alas, take King out of D.C. and he seems to of ‘let it all hang out’. What in the world do I mean? Check out the latest ESSA related press release that ED is so proud of!

The Fed ED Press Release link:
https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USED/bulletins/164b0b6?reqfrom=share

The excerpt I’m highlighting is in the screen shot below:

edtour
Now, before I share a bit more about the ‘ball and chain’ ESSA will put on all the States by these ‘new guidance measures’, let me give you the side stories ED (and at least this press release have left out).
One: Note that in King’s statement there’s pointed direction to ‘return on investment’. “Great progress”?! Look below, Warriors:

carterreturn

Almost 40 years ago, President Carter uttered some pretty similar sentiments. The “Goobernator” as he was referred to as I was growing up in GA, obviously missed the days in class where the Constitution was taught.
Otherwise, he’d of known that NO federal investment in education is legal! Investing/return on investment in education is 100% illegal! It was then and it is now!
Two:

patrick

Yes, just like “SpongeBob’s” side kick,“Patrick”,  Dr. King has a sideshow host, Sen. Lamar Alexander!
Oh, Alexander’s quite the poser. Look at how long he’s been spewing rhetoric about ‘investing in education’. Look how long he waxed on every time ESSA was on the Congress’ schedule. Think about how long he gloated about those helping pass ESSA. They were NOT all legislators. There were scads of private groups sold out to the CCSS Machine!
Look how long he droned on at Dr. King’s confirmation. Oh, sure, he bellowed, he beat his fists, he’s since spread poppy-cock about ESSA and how ‘upset’ he is over King’s behavior!

This coming from the man who stated back in the 80s about ‘cradle to grave’ education alignment?! Alexander/Patrick’s latest sideshow? Do what you want with ESSA!
See: http://truthinamericaneducation.com/elementary-and-secondary-education-act/alexander-assume-can-want-under-essa/
*Note: any resemblance is certainly something that’s in the eye of the beholder.

What ESSA Really Says About All That ‘Guidance’:

Increased public private partnerships for not only students, but entire communities. Not only will your student succeed, he or she will succeed because everyone in town had a hand in it. The reality? Non educators will have more opportunities to teach. More ideology you may not wish to have your child exposed to at this time will be ‘in their faces’. These P3s will also be rewarded by the LEAs and SEAs for ‘performing’. Want your child to advance a grade? It won’t be up to the teacher anymore, but the LEAs and P3s.
Below is just one example of the kind of guidance education is getting. It’s not in the name of ‘quality academic education’ BUT Career Tech Ed (adult CCSS) for workforce!

supportfor5587

More research conducted, especially by the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s special teams, in the name of understanding people. The reality? Constant measuring, assessing, and reporting. Our students AND their families will become lab rats. Entire communities will be graded, measured, and assessed as well. Not performing well? Funding for certain programs will be on the chopping block. ESSA will have the assessments reach (quite literally) into your homes.

Those ‘returns on investment’? That’s the CCSS Machine’s new way of referring to our sons and daughters. They’ve been reduced to financial commodities, including ‘human capital’.

What Works, but Really is Dependent:

The splendorous Ed Press Release also boasted of the NEW “What Works”. Oh joy, (sarcasm intended).
First off it’s in the IES (Institutes for Educational Sciences). IES is behind the lab rats programs and assessments, including that in-home assessment for how well your family is hooked up for the internet.
Then, there’s the REL (Regional Education Labs). More lab rats.
ESSA has ‘region specific education’ language for a purpose.
ESSA also has lots and lots of language for career and college readiness; post-secondary readiness. The CCR (college/career readiness) Centers have our nation broken into regions, too. Coincidence? Hardly.
Then, there’s NCEE (National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance). More assessing, and measuring. More alignment to a global agenda. More ‘region specifics’. See my article about how the regional and the global meet under NCEEhttps://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/03/04/wybi-ccsss-ego-issues/

So, Warriors, What SHOULD  ED do? How about become non existent?!
