Why Have Goals?

Warriors, in my “Purse Strings” article, you were promised a follow-up article further looking at the connections between SEL (Social Emotional Learning), the SMART Goals, and, the HARD Goals.

Briefly, before we get to that follow-up information, I’d like to point out something I didn’t in the original article. The connections between who funds each of these types of activities in each of our States is worth looking into. However, don’t only look at the wealthiest folks, but look at their foundations. Look at the traditionally conservative or liberal policy think-tanks. Are there connections between these groups? Are there partnerships? A great conservative example is the AFC (American Federation for Children). Besty DeVos has been instrumental in AFC’s work in the States. Does AFC have an affiliate in your State? As far as an liberal example, try to see if your State has any affiliate offices for the Center for American Progress (CAP).
(*Note: A resource I found where the political spectrum of policy groups is featured is the Citizens Source.)
Also, what PACs (Political Action Committees) are active in education in your State?
More information about PACs and how they are broken down can be found at OpenSecrets.com.

Why We Need to Know The Money Trail:

ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) not only mandates MORE P3s (public private partnerships), it will reward them for overreaching into education!
Find out what are they supporting or funding in the War Vs. the Core.

SEL, Grit, SMART, HARD, And American Education:

To quickly review the connections between these  encompass the global education design for “grit”. Meaning, all education must be a certain way in order to be deemed as ‘successful’. Put another way, per the NC ESSA State Draft Plan (I found it in other State Plans as well), ‘grit’ is for ‘college and career readiness’ (CCR). CCR is another phrase for ‘post-secondary readiness’! See the evidence here.

By passing WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) in 2014, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds) and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)Acts in 2015, renewing the HEA’s (Higher Education Act) funding in 2015, our federal government has done a ‘bang up’ job of mandating we’ll see MORE grit, SEL, SMART, and HARD parameters in ALL educational levels.

Here are two visuals to explain SMART Goals and HARD Goals:

You’ll find plenty of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Revelant, and Trackable) and HARD (Heart-felt, Animated, Required, and Difficult) in every digital resource your students encounter.  All those ‘personalized courses’ are an example.

Teachers will also face the same constraints. HOW? Professional Development in ESSA mandates teachers and other educational leaders MUST be credentialed in everything post-secondary readiness so their students can measure up. Teachers/leaders/students will be collectively graded on how successful what is taught and learned. It’s called whole school grading. ESSA will reward or punish States where schools do not measure up. Likewise, teachers/leaders will be rewarded or punished if not properly credentialed or badged.

Here are some vital resources you’ll need for SMART and HARD Goals:

1) As we know, there’s a 2013 U.S. Dept. of Education publication about GRIT.
It unabashedly connects CCSS to SEL. Find it here.  (*Note: you’ll find mega bucks Bill and Melinda Gates had a huge hand in helping create this document.)

2)  SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) Goals. Originally designed for business, it appears they’ve made their way into education.  Here’s a document from the State of VA. It’s from the Human Resources Dept of the University of VA. It’s clearly visible this document was for use in higher education.

Warriors, we know higher education has been overrun with corporate/federal interference to help embed that cradle to grave stream global education needs for all citizens. I’ve covered this multiple times here on my blog. WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and HEA (Higher Education Act) are tools for this. ESSA’s the same.

3) What happens when GRIT and SMART are combined? Find it here.
3a) From CA, a 6th grade Career Roadmap using SMART.

4) Below, Lifelong Learning Labs has this definition of SMART for education. As you can see it’s not too far removed from the business model (‘SMART’ in business stands for Specific, Measurable, Achieveable, Realistic, and Timely.). LLL also calls SMART Goals ‘mind tools’.

************************************************************
HARD Goals supposedly are to make your brain engage and cause your performance levels soar..at least in the business world. According to this blog article about HARD Goals, the concept has been around a long time. These are to be the ‘softer’, more personal skills you have or can groom in others. According to this same article, Leadership IQ’s Mark Murphy has created the latest acroynm. So, who is Murphy? From his Leadership IQ website, this excerpt about his ties to the CCSS Machine and global workforce/education.
With a reputation for brilliant, yet immediately actionable, insights about leadership, he’s trained leaders at the United Nations, Harvard Business School, the Clinton Foundation, Microsoft, MasterCard, SHRM, and hundreds more organizations.  Mark leads one of the world’s largest leadership skills studies, and his work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, Forbes, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and U.S. News & World Report. Mark has also appeared on CNN, NPR, CBS News Sunday Morning, ABC’s 20/20, and Fox Business News.” Source

1) According to Tony Gurr, he created HARD Goals for education/teaching back in 2012.
His blog entry reveals he ‘borrowed’ Mark Murphy’s business model. See it here. Gurr’s based in Turkey, by the way. According to his LinkedIn profile, he’s got his finger on the HARD/SMART, English Language Learning (ELL) and, English Language Teaching (ELT) education reform. See his ties to Dubai, too. Gurr’s a presentor in this on-line course for teachers available to all education choices.

2) From the “Read Less, Do More” website, Murphy’s summary on how HARD goals are to be used. Read this and see if you do not recognize some of the techniques used in classrooms.

3) If you don’t have time to read the summary, look below for a visual example of HARD goals from 2014. Entire Slide Share presentation, here.

HARDgoals

Warriors, ‘personalized learning’ uses SEL, GRIT, SMART, and HARD!

4) Murphy’s lastest article on HARD vs SMART for Forbes, states both are best for career development. Knowing how aligned to this mandate ESSA is, look for more of this type of BS in classrooms.

5) Tying Grit to Education Savings Accounts, will not only encompass personalized learning, but CBE (Competency Based Education). Big money groups in our States fund these! A ‘leader’ in this is The Jeb Bush Foundation for Excellence in Education. However, FEE is hardly the only big-buck-group in this education reform. Here’s a previously published article where I laid it all out for you.

Closing:

Warriors, I hope between the strings and goals I’ve presented for you in the 2 related articles, you can get an idea that ‘local control’ as promised by the CCSS Machine is a big, fat lie. Locally controlled education should not have nebulous purse strings or someone else’s business modeled priorities as the guiding framework. Local education should be OF the people, BY the people, and, FOR the people.

One truth you can still share with your State’s leaders/funders, etc. is that this federal statute is STILL being broken every day ESSA’s implementation continues. Every day WIOA’s workforce ursurping of education continues, furthers this breach. With the HEA being re-written, the egregious overreaches will continue. Will your State speak up?!

US fed statute

Ed/Workforce’s Dirty Laundry?!

Hello, my Anti Fed Ed/CCSS Warriors! As you know, I’ve dedicated years to researching just how deep the roots to the shift in American education to workforce training are.

Today’s article will give you a rundown which is sure to help your War vs the Core in your State.

Why you need such a rundown of items is simple. The CCSS Machine’s rhetoric will somewhat slow down during the summer months. A perfect opportunity for us to make some moves of our own. No battle is won without specific preparation.

D.C.’s Dirty Laundry:

So far, during the current Congressional session, there are PLENTY of ‘dirty’ education/workforce bills in the making. Using the Congress.gov website (where you can easily look up bills), there are 733 Workforce bills for the 2017 session.

Since we know what happens in D.C. travels to each of the 50 States, we know what to look for at our General Assemblies, State Congresses, etc. Much like the proverbial red towel left in the load of white sheets, the goal of the CCSS Machine is simple, make all education ‘pink’ (ie: workforce training, not academic-minded). As we also, know, once dyed pink, sheets do not return to their former color easily, if at all.

Below are only a few of the ‘dirty’ bills:

S268, Investing in Student Success Act of 2017 (Senator Young from IN is the main sponsor).
Sounds not so ‘dirty’ right? I mean who doesn’t want to invest in their child’s post-secondary education?! Ah, but Warriors, the ‘dirt’ is that your student and someone not related to you invests in their education via an ISA (Income Share Agreement).

S268
Some hidden ‘dirt’ for S268 is that this FEDERAL bill goes above any existing State law about investment agreements! Targeted group for S268? Low-income students.

HR1837, The 21st Century Energy Workforce Act (Representative Norcross from NJ is the main sponsor)
This bill points out that energy in the United States is the 3rd largest industry. As such, it needs more skilled workers than other industries.
The ‘hidden dirt’ to this bill? Using community colleges for the uniting of all educational choices for STEM/CTE aligned Common Core workforce educated students. (*Note: STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; CTE is short for Career Technical Education. Both are tied to Common Core and have been for years.)

The embedded ‘pink’ stain to this bill? The Secretary of Energy will be in charge of grants for creating apprenticeships to carry all this alignment out. This will, of course, involve the U.S. Dept. of Labor, and the U.S. Dept. of Education.
This HR1837, also establishes a National Center for Excellence for the  21st Century Workforce Advisory Board.(see pages 3 and 4)

HR1837

Warriors, notice the ‘pipeline’ begins in elementary school!
*************************************************************************************

A Former ‘Stain’ Which Will Not Wash Out:

Our Senate, over the past 2 Congressional sessions, has tried to get a bill to support a National Workforce Board. See below from Sen. Cantwell’s (WA):

S1304
S1304, was last introduced during the 2015-2016 Session by Sen. Cantwell. If you read the 9 pages, it is very similar in several instances to the HR 1837 language. Talk about ‘dirty laundry’….
*****************************************************************

New Wash Load, Same Old Dirt:

During THIS Congressional Session (2017-2018) The Senate’s 21st Century Energy Workforce Act is mainly sponsored by Sen. Heinrich, NM. It is S895.

S895’s title is officially “Energy Workforce for the 21st Century Act of 2017”. This bill specifies an increase in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) especially for low-income students of ALL ages (like the House’s bill, this one will begin in elementary schools and go all the way to the workforce). This bill also specifies WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act’s) definition of ‘education’..just like ESSA did.

S895 will have not only the Secretary of Energy creating education collaborations, but awarding all kinds of incentives to them.

S895

Warriors, if you missed my article from earlier this year about how the major Cabinet agencies all have CTE/STEM plans to streamline education to workforce skills, I urge you to access that information here. It is absolutely key to what we see Congress plotting NOW.

Also, take into consideration that the Federal Budget has millions of taxpayer funds earmarked for job creation. On Page 2 of the 2018 Federal Budget, energy development is at the top of the continued priority list. Education is last. On Page 8, funding/discussion for American jobs is highlighted.

Back in March 2017, when the Blueprint for the Federal Budget was released, I shared with you just how the education/workforce stream of money was being kept alive, in spite of all the noise about reining in the federal overreach into education.
Here is that article. (*Note: be sure to access my special 5 page guide to see just how the Cabinet level agenices are involved. It will help in understanding the Congressional bills we are exposing in this article.)

Continuing the Spin Cycle:

S1186 is sponsored by several Senators from across the nation. Leading them is Sen. Baldwin from WI. This bill, the Domestic Maritime Centers of Excellence Act of 2017, would have the Secretary of Transportation select existing community colleges (and technical schools) for an increase in educated workforce training. This Secretary’s assistance also includes funding, use of federal resources, AND, create new career pathways!

S628, Educating Tomorrow’s Workforce Act of  2017 is mainly sponsored by Sen. Kaine of VA. While it’s been rumored VA never had Common Core, it’s been researched and proven VA has Common Core’s ‘adult version’ of education, CTE (Career Tech Education). This bill should be an absolute dead ringer for exposing the shift in education. Why? See below:

S628

Closing:

Warriors, as you can see, these are just a few of the over 700 bills Congress has created in the name of job creation, education, workforce skills, and more. The bottom line, however, is 100% alignment to WIOA via ESSA. HEA (Higher Education Act) is also to be included. Career Pathways, STEM, and so much more connects every one of these existing laws and proposed bills. Will every one of these bills survive? No, but even if ONE of them succeeds, look at the agenda it embeds, not only federally, but LOCALLY.
The ‘stain’ of CCSS Machine reform is becoming permanently marked on America.

Human capital concept in tag cloud
Is this what we will continue to allow Congress to see when it comes to our children?!

It’s Good to Have Friends

Just a couple of days ago, one of my long-time Warrior friends, John E. in Nevada, contacted me with some good news. He’d written an article for his local paper and it was published!

He wanted me to share it as the topic is the obsessive and intrusive data mining we see happening every day in schools across America.

So, that said, here’s the link to this article:
http://www.rgj.com/story/opinion/voices/2017/01/04/one-view-parents-deserve-know-how-washoe-schools-sharing-kids-data/96165178/

Here are the main points John knows are vital to share:

1) John’s article refers to a 11/29/16 meeting where his county’s school board made a presentation. The reporter who was there gathered quite a bit of evidence from that meeting and published a separate article about the massive amounts of data (school related and not) being taken from students. (*Note: that article is worth reading as well. Find it: http://www.rgj.com/story/news/education/2016/11/29/security-student-information-called-into-question/94634484/ )

2) John is also the administrator of the Nevadans Against Common Core. As long as I’ve been sharing my research nationwide,  his note about not only fighting Common Core, but the data mining reminds me how serious a Warrior he is.

3) “Infinite Campus” is the data mining tool of choice in all the NV school districts.

4) Google Apps of Ed, Edmodo, and Microsoft’s third party data collection and use is a big concern to many parents in John’s district. Good for them! Hold those leaders accountable, ask the tough questions and do not accept a non-responsive answer.

5) While Edmodo is ‘free’ to school districts, the money made to pay for it is based off the student data itself.

*********************************************************************
The remainder of this article will be to look behind the curtains of the data collectors to see what more we need to learn and share.
*********************************************************************

Washoe’s School District:

Their website: http://www.washoeschools.net/

I found the answer to WHY all this data’s collected. See below:

washoedata

In a few words, we can see the reason is a streamlined track from kindergarten to college graduation for ‘post-secondary success’.

What we also need to know is that this particular district began data mining students back in 1998, well before all the ‘college and career’ or ‘post-secondary readiness’ cow-chip-education-reform-rhetoric. According to the document I found, it was determined (some time between 1998 and now) that such information was needed and a P-16 data tracking system (called the Education Alliance P-16 Council) was created. Below is what Washoe’s been up to since the Council was created. Note the CCSS Machine member group highlighted:

The Ed Alliance:

Their website: https://ed-alliance.org/
Their goal? Just like so many other States: workforce based educated citizens to grow local economies. Think, I’m joking? Look below:

*******************************************************************

Nevada’s  “Fascination” with a P-16 Pipeline:

First, some quick facts:
 1)  NV is looked upon as a champion CTE (Career Tech Education). I am referring to a Sept. 21st, 2016 Education and Workforce Committee Hearing where the NV Superintendent of the Dept. of Public Education was a featured witness. See my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/21/no-truer-words/

1a) The U.S. Dept. of Labor classifies NV as a Category 3 Apprenticeship/WIOA State (means they have fewer than 2, 500 registered student apprentices). See my article for where the other States fall in line: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/23/local-schools-open-for-wioa/

1b) While NV has not been awarded any WDQI (Workforce Data Quality  Initiative) grant money yet, it DOES receive WIA (Workforce Investment Act) funding until 2020. The funding is used in a State-wide program called “NevadaWorks”. See the U. S. Dept. of Labor for the WDQI information on which States have been given grant money: https://www.doleta.gov/performance/workforcetechnicalassist.cfm
“NevadaWorks”
website: http://www.nevadaworks.com/

If you’re not sure what WDQI grant money does for your State, see below:

wdqidatafact
To learn how NV uses its data to fit into the “NevadaWorks”nevada-wig-annual_report_py_2014-with-signature-page

2) WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) embedded the Common Core’s CTE into its language 21 different times! (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/05/essa-ties-to-wioa-2014-and-new-citizens/ )

 3) HEA (Higher Education Act, last updated in 2008) is also embedded in BOTH WIOA and ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). (See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/12/05/weekend-news-essas-untold-ties-to-hea/ )

4) CTE is embedded in HEA. NV was one of the first grant recipients. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/12/weekend-news-heads-up-higher-ed-cte-update/ )

5) All 3: ESSA (formerly ESEA, Elementary and Secondary Education Act), WIOA, and HEA data collect, data mine, and use said data to streamline your student’s course load to fit a pre-determined career(aka: Career Pathways) and/or a college path, hence the need to switch the names FROM Common Core TO College and Career Readiness! (*Note: to see the 2015 WIOA/CTE Alignment PDF for all 50 States, 2015-06-Aligned-by-Design-WIOA-and-CTE )

6) With all the legislative unity AND the P3s unity, education remaining in its true form doesn’t stand a chance in NV,or, any other State!

7) From 2014, an excerpt from my article using NC (where I live) as an example of how fascinated the ed/workforce leaders were about joining our student’s data for a workforce based education, “The U.S. WIOA 2014 (the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014), as I’ve written about will take the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Student Longitudinal Data System and merge with it.” (article in its entirety: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/11/06/tech-thursday-workforce-commissions-education-and-common-core/ )

Back to  John’s concerns:

Here’s an illustration of where all the data goes. While this was used in an article I published BEFORE HR5 (Student Success Act)and S1177 (Every Child Achieves) were combined to create the ESSA as we know it, the data mining hasn’t stopped. Each of these Depts. has 3rd party vendors as well…globally.:

workforceweb
While the 9 federal levels are easy to spot, look at the variety of other agencies which are not easy to identify as connected.

Put another way, below is the ‘talent pipeline’ illustration which will help you visualize what Johnny and Suzy are destined for in this data collected/shared and sold/aligned education era:

talent-pipeline-infographic

Then, There Are All Those Apprenticeships:

Also part of the CCSS Machine/Fed Ed overhaul of academic education, is the American Apprenticeship Initiative (AAI). I’ve researched this White House led program and shared with you how it’s tied to data mining, career alignment, and more. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/11/02/to-what-degree/ AND
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/02/12/tech-thursday-aligned-apprentices/

NV ranks right up there, in this effort, too. Back in 2015, the Reno area (the same area John lives in) was awarded big bucks, here’s an excerpt from the nation-wide grant winners announcement,Board of Regents, Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), obo Truckee Meadows Community College – Reno, NV Truckee Meadows Community College was awarded a $2.2 million grant to fund the Northern Nevada College Apprenticeship Consortium. This consortium, which includes employers Tesla Motors and Panasonic will develop registered apprenticeship programs to increase the skills and career opportunities for 400 workers in the burgeoning advanced manufacturing sector in Northern Nevada.”
(You can find the rest of the announcement in my article,
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/12/weekend-news-heads-up-higher-ed-cte-update/ )

The Delusion Games

Anti CCSS Warriors and those Against the CCSS Machine, have you seen the delusions of grandeur being manufactured at almost break neck speed lately?!

Between the stacked deck of pro CCSS folks being tagged for leadership and the main stream media cranking out plenty of false positives about education, it’s enough to make our heads spin.

For example, recently Tom VanderArk’s “Getting Smart” website shared a guest written article about personalized learning in the classroom. Now, if you’ve heard of Mr. VanderArk, you know he is a master deceiver when it comes to a quality education. He’s absolutely, 100% sold out to the CCSS Machine’s reform. Part of the reoccurring message he (and others like him) shares is how fantastic ‘personalized’ learning is.

What these deceivers don’t count on is that we, the Warriors, are onto their delusions. “Personalized” learning in the “Era of ESSA” is code for ‘competency based education designed to NOT teach, but to CONFORM’.

“Personalized” learning is also code for digitally based data mining. “Personalized” learning is also being used to create false positive results when it comes to assessing how much our students are learning. Put another way, the digital based ‘personalization’ constantly grades on a steep curve.

In this context, the CCSS Machine banks on the fact that the general population HEARS ‘personalized’ as ‘custom’. It banks on the fact that when we hear ‘custom’, we PERCEIVE it as ‘exclusive’.

As a society, we are taught that ‘exclusive’ is special, is to be sought after. That somehow ‘exclusive’ means BETTER than everything else.

We are taught that by having something ‘exclusively’ means we have something NO ONE else can have.

Warriors, ‘personalized learning’ via ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is a masterful delusion of epic proportions. ESSA also has a tremendous amount of Competency Based teaching/learning. ‘Personalizing’ it mocks true teaching/learning.

EVERY student will have the same type of education, there is NO true “personalization”! Only illusions.

As long as education is funneled through competency based Common Core/Career Tech Education/College and Career Readiness and all that goes with it, the delusions live on.

The Article:

“Getting Smart” featured  a letter to the President-elect/new administration written by a KnowledgeWorks staff member, Lillian Pace. Warriors, KnowledgeWorks is another 100% sold out to the CCSS Machine member organization. I’ve researched them in the past and have shared with you how deeply their allegiance to the education reform runs. This group is not after our students aligning, it is after our ENTIRE communities being aligned to conformity based education, life, and everything connecting the two. Below is a screen shot from one of my 2014 articles. This was the first one I wrote about KnowledgeWorks (KW).

14kw

A big selling point for ‘personalized’ learning is digital badging, or coding. To see how KnowledgeWorks has been involved in this:

So, What Did Ms. Pace Direct To Mr. Trump’s Attention?

The Deluded Sales Pitch Points:
a) leverage the vast amount of innovation occurring across the country to help States and school districts build an education system that provides all learners with access to a personalized education that enables them to master the knowledge and skills critical to success in college and career
How did KW propose the President-elect and his staff accomplish this?! MORE incentives! As if Race to the Top’s incentives didn’t teach our nation about how badly the carrots-on-a-stick delusion worked.

b) Post-secondary Transition Innovation Funds where the money would be “administered jointly by all Department offices with a stake in K–12 and post-secondary policy

c) Create a Pathway Program for employment. While WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) already ‘gave’ us ‘personalized learning for employment’ (Career Tech Education, Career Pathways, Career Tracks, Career Clusters, American Apprenticeships, etc.), this NEW  Pathway “would have the “federal government and the employer would equally share the cost of tuition; however, the federal government would reimburse the employer if it employs an individual for two years after obtaining a credential.”

d) Increase dual enrollment and early college high schools. Warriors, each of these are already ‘personalized’ to not only WIOA, but  to CCSS, CTE, and will increase via ESSA! We do not need MORE of what has already been passed into law. The same can be said for Points A, B, and C!

Closing:

If you’d like to see the slick CBE (Competency Based Education) ‘personalized’ learning sales pitch KnowledgeWorks has produced to help our nation see how valuable it is.Listen for the key educratic buzzwords, as well, Warriors. Especially ‘every child succeeds’.:

Weekend News: Worker Ed

Warriors in the War Vs the Core, we are approaching the one year ‘anniversary’ of the passage of the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) into federal law. While much remains status quo in the quest to transform American education into a skill based worker pipeline, much has already changed. As we approach a new calendar year, new administration, and new ESSA mandates in action, we must remember one thing:

Protect the students, teachers, and citizens!

Just take a close look at the feature shot above. It was one of the simplest ways to illustrate how all the recent laws, initiatives, and programs tie altogether for one goal. What the   CCSS Machine often calls our students: ‘human capital’ or ‘talent pipeline supply’.

Those recent laws?
HEA (Higher Education Act of 2008) is said to be currently under its latest rewriting
WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014),
STEM* (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Act of 2015
 ESSA, 2015

*STEM actually appeared about the same time as Common Core State Standards according to a 2010 PCAST (Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) Report.

Each of these connect Career Tech Ed, Career Pathways or Clusters,  STEM to STEAM, American Apprenticeships, and all the associated programs to the shift from academics to workforce. ESSA refers to all of this as ‘college and career readiness’ or ‘challenging state academic standards. ESSA also collectively groups all the initiatives and programs into professional development/streamlined learning with one goal:

Post secondary readiness in competency based education

Workforce/Ed News With A Spin:

During the past week, the U.S. House’s Ed and Workforce Committee have been zipping out press releases ‘celebrating’ the important work of the past few years under Rep. Kline’s leadership. Somehow, we the Warriors and Citizens, need to be reminded of the pro CCSS/CTE side of education at the hands of these legislative educrats. They are desperate to have us believe all this reform will make our nation stronger.
However, this past week isn’t the only time the CCSS Machine has used Congress to churn out fodder. Since the last recess began, Ed/Workforce has zipped out many such press releases. I’ve dug through those and shown you the fallacies. I’ll include them in the Related Resource section below.

The ‘Success’ Emails:

A quadruple spun set of Ed/Workforce articles began showing up in my email on Nov. 30th. The subject title? “Leadership & Results: Empowering Americans to compete in the workforce”
The email was quick to point out that under Rep. Kline’s leadership, the Committee had worked hard on the behalf of all Americans. The track record of ‘success’ begins (in the email) in 2007. It also points out the Skills Act* of 2011 where Rep. Foxx was a key player. (Look for my Skills Act article below in Related Resources.) The email ends with the terrific news about WIOA becoming law. No where in the email does it state Rep. Foxx was set to become the new chair for Ed/Workforce.
*Skills Act (2013) stands for: “The Supporting Knowledge and Investing in Lifelong Skills Act”
It was also Rep. Foxx’s ‘baby’. (In Monday’s article, we’ll look closely at her education stance.)

The bottom line? American education had already begun its shift to becoming a workforce based education well before 2007, the Skills Act.

The next Ed/Workforce email was also dated 11/30/16. It’s subject line? “Leadership & Results Part 2: Helping every child receive an excellent education”
Right away, the red flag was the same introduction as the first. How hard Ed/Workforce had worked to represent the citizens of America. Another red flag? The ‘lifelong learning’ educratic phrase is code for ‘birth to grave’ streamlined education* (look for “Local Schools Open for WIOA in ‘Related Resources’). This email was all about how ‘local’ ESSA is going to make American education.

The bottom line? No American citizen truly desires ‘success’ at the price our government expects our education system to cough up.

Ed/Workforce’s third email (dated 12/1/16) focused on child safety via Neighborhood Development Block Grants. The subject line stated it this way, “Leadership & Results Part 3: Protecting the nation’s most vulnerable”This will most definitely continue to tie education to the U.S. Dept. of HHS (Health and Human Services). In ‘Related Resources’ look for  the “Sure Fire Disaster” article.

Lastly, the series of ‘success’ emails showed up on Dec. 2nd. It’s subject line, “Leadership & Results Part 4: Making it easier for students to pursue higher education”. This email touted the “Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act of 2013”. Warriors, while I have not studied this Law, I can tell you what I do know about higher education when it comes to the federal overreaches. Look in ‘Related Resources’ for them.

Good Colors/Bad Colors

We’ve all had discussions about education. Some of these ‘talks’ are pretty easy; some others aren’t. With most of us back home and resuming our post-Thanksgiving lives, it is easy to think about what was said around the table.

My family is no exception. Most of the family’s offspring are up in age. A few, however, have little ones. By little I mean ’10 years and younger’. My most ‘in-depth’ education conversation wasn’t with one of the grown-ups. It was with a 7 year old.

Here’s what this child is experiencing daily in a summary form:
“I got a new teacher when I went to my new school. I like this one much better because he gives me good colors. My old school teacher gave me bad colors. I don’t like the bad colors. She was mean.”

My heart still hurts when I recall his face and body language.

Warriors, I do not know about you, but this was something, no one, not even a Warrior Parent had shared. Since parents are being left out of education so much, these Warriors may not know about the ‘good color/bad color’ strategy in the classroom. Maybe they do and are fighting so hard against it, it’s assumed everyone knows.

It doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is looking at how this strategy is reshaping (literally) our children’s mindset.

Behind the Color Wheel, An Old Agenda Awaits:

behavecolor

Warriors, I found this example on Pintrest, along with hundreds of other color behavior management charts. Since I do not know exactly what school my young kinsman attends, I cannot access his school directly.
I did find his school district’s website. No mention about color controlled behavior management was available. (You can also find via an internet search how colors are replacing report cards. We know that in some States report cards and diplomas are being phased out totally.)

So, where’s the ‘agenda’? PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) While the screen shot you see above may or may not co-ordinate with the particular school district I’m referring to or not, the PBIS, thanks to ESSA, (Every Student Succeeds Act) is only going to get more invasive. An added ‘bonus’? The amount of money to be made by private companies which partner with schools. ESSA gives that opportunity many times in the Law.

Earlier this year (2016), I shared with you the Pearson Behavior Management System (Review 360) and how it uses P3s (Public Private Partnerships) for conditioning not only our students, but our school leaders, too. See Part 2 of my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/03/07/pearsons-gi-more-alignment-in-the-workplace/

Also from earlier this year, I shared with you how ESSA and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers were set (or, are being set in place) for whole family behavior managing. The agenda? If the entire family is on the same track, the student will have better success in life (aka: student achievement/student outcome). See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/04/10/ccss-machine-potpourri/

Related to what is happening NOW in behavior management, is this screen shot from a 2014 article I published which revealed to you the Behavior Standards used in schools which aligned to Common Core.

14behave

You can see how the PBIS will fit into schools. It doesn’t matter what name the States use for educational standards, the behavior portions will remain in place and yet, will INCREASE in overreach!

If you wish to access the Behavior Standards and Mindsets:

Above, you noticed I stated 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Here’s a screen shot of how the PBIS will fit:

PBIS In Real Time:

From the school district information I found that the Positive Behavior uses not only colors (think a traffic light), BUT coins as rewards to use for ‘shopping’.

In this ‘new way’ of behaving, kids are taught that ‘fail’ doesn’t mean the opposite of ‘success’, as it is traditionally taught; no, it represents  an ‘opportunity to try again’, ‘failing is another word for growing’, or ‘first attempt in learning’! Warriors, do you sense the importance of this shift?! (Do an Internet search for the images of these phrases, you’ll be surprised at the shift in traditional critical thinking.)

So, what is the school district I found using for PBIS?
It’s at every grade level; it uses Starbucks Rewards cards; weekly school ‘shopping’ trips;
colors as ‘good’ or ‘not good’ (‘bad’ is not an option); and, levels of keeping behaviors in line with every other student (for example: blue level or gold level, the higher the color, the more the responsibility).

It’s important to note that the school district is Greenville, SC. According to their website, they are SC’s largest school district and the 51st largest in the entire nation. They also are accredited by AdvancEd (a huge CCSS Machine member group which manipulates behavior.)

To see Greenville’s PBIS description (to be used anywhere learning can happen):
https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/monaview/Upload/uploads/PBIS.pdf

To see how PBIS is used for elementary students:

pbispaws

Warriors, do you see how music is used in the cafeteria?! Do you see how much silence is expected?! Do you see how often lines are to be used or order is to be kept?!
To see the entire chart: https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/parise/students/0809/pbis.asp

PBIS for older special needs students (self contained)? Greenville’s School District offers a specific teacher’s letter. In it PBIS is described as a “Behavior Management System”. The introduction states a Unique Learning System (a Standards based on-line curriculum) is also used. To see the traffic light/shopping trip plan for behavior: https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/rms/syllabi/KellettSelfContained.pdf
To see the Unique Learning Systems SC Standards Base (College and Career Readiness Standards; code for Common Core State Standards): https://www.n2y.com/unique-learning-system/

What’s interesting is that Greenville’s School District AdvancED accreditation‘more information’ link is broken. However, I did find the information at the Greenville Economic Development Board’s website. (see: http://www.greenvilleeconomicdevelopment.com/greenville-county-schools.php )
(*Note: AdvancEd is big into the the 2030 UN Agenda for an educated workforce. See:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/this-is-our-choice/)

Why would school information be located at an economic website? The workforce agenda!!
“College and Career Readiness” doesn’t just involve education, it arches over into jobs.
Jobs drive the local economy. ESSA and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) use Career Tech Education and Career Pathways (sometimes Career Clusters). The Higher Education Act (HEA) also plays into this!

The Ultimate Goal for the students in Greenville School District (as well as a national goal we see playing out in ‘real time’)? The screen shot shows only a portion of the information. The entire 2 page brochure reveals the ‘building’ begins in Pre-school!

As far as the “education evangelist”? He’s preaching innovation in education for the economy’s benefit! See for yourselves:

Closing:

Warriors, we all are at risk of losing our students to the CCSS Machine’s workforce agenda. It doesn’t matter how young or old our students are. By using colors to encourage or discourage young minds, we condition them unjustly. By using music as cues to be ourselves and chat with others or not, we are restricting personalities. By showing instant gratification for ‘good’ behavior, we are seeing the entitlement programs increase in society.

What’s my little kinsman’s future?! Sadly, like all the rest of ours. A ‘color coded credential for work’ where we are all ‘bronze, silver, gold, or platinum’ workers…not free people with hopes and dreams.
(see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/03/tech-thursday-just-say-no-to-nocc/)

So, the ‘education evangelist’ is truthful about one thing ‘who do I want to work for?’;
the rest of his message? An empty vat of lies.

The Fan’s Been Hit

Goodbye, September…Hello, October! Fellow anti CCSS Warriors; Warriors Against the Core; and Anti Fed Ed Warriors, you know life is changing for us all on a daily basis. You know we, as a nation are being impacted every day by the CCSS Machine in some way.

I’m a bit more angry at the continued overreach in education from all the levels it SHOULD NEVER be getting. I’ve also seen an increase (again) in being blocked, so some of my latest research isn’t getting out there quite as good as it once did. Still, I press on.

However…………………..

We’ve reached a point, in the War Against the Core, where the ‘poop’ is hitting the fan at almost breakneck speed!

At the beginning of the week, if you remember, I said we had 5 days of which to survive U.S. Congress’s moves concerning their part of the CCSS Machine’s overreach in education legislation. Mid-week, I said it didn’t appear much was happening on the Hill, but there was plenty going on elsewhere in D.C. (Dr. King and the U.S. Dept. of Ed)

All the while, the blocking of all that I’d researched and written grew. Then, last night, at least for me, the poop really hit the fan when I received an email from the U.S. House of Representative’s Education and Workforce Committee.

poopfan1
The email goes on to share all the other education/job reform projects. Then, the letter is ended with, “All of these reforms will provide Americans “A Better Way” to pursue successful, fulfilling lives and work toward a brighter future. And there’s more where these came from. September may be drawing to a close, but House Republicans know there is more work to be done.”

If you wish to read the entire message,
http://edworkforce.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=401106
(*Note: The H5963, is included; the Higher Education Forum Rep. Kline spoke during, also there. As you know, I’ve written on both of these to expose the real rotten, stinky logs of poop.)

Let me backtrack from here. Ed/Workforce had been sending plenty of emails out this week, so I’d seen an increase in the ‘poop factor’.

Other Poop Factors:

1) Literally starting today, Oct. 1, a new fiscal year. The CCSS Machine’s gotten its claws in the federal budget. See:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/26/the-last-5-days/

2) The ‘King sized sack of poop’ being dished up:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/27/home-for-me/
(*Note: near the end of the bad news I shared in this one, you’ll see all the information on how you can sling some ‘poop’ of your own on Oct. 17th, 2016)

3) The new Family Engagement Ambassador Program from the U.S. Dept. of Ed and other CCSS Machine members has begun. This article has the framework for HOW the Fed ED will take over your family as a ‘nanny’ to align all to the CCSS Machine’s plans for educationhttps://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/bon-voyage-hello-grinders/

4) The Rep. Kline speech on higher education poop,
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/bon-voyage-hello-grinders/

5) How the CCSS Machine, via McGraw-Hill, is doing its best to align the Nov. 2016 elections:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/29/100-500-and-still-counting/

futurepoop

“Got Poop?”

From the articles above, you’ll be able to see how much poop is currently flying. However, during the course of this week, there was a ‘new’ bill Ed/Workforce trotted out, HR6094. The official name, “The Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools, and Nonprofits Act.”

HR6094 is to put a delay of 6 months on a rule made by the U.S. Dept. of Labor.
So, we know the U.S. Dept. of Labor is a big CCSS Machine organization. The rule has to do with overtime pay. See: http://edworkforce.house.gov/uploadedfiles/6month_02_xml.pdf

Okay, so now we are talking something to impact our national economy. We know, also, that national economy is a key platform FOR the CCSS Machine’s rhetoric for a stream-lined, workforce based education. Any time you see workforce, education, and the economy, you’ll see at least 4 alphabet soup CCSS Machine names. CTE, WIOA, ESSA, and HEA. (Career Tech Education/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Every Student Succeeds Act/Higher Education Act).

walberg

Walberg from Michigan, is the main Representative behind HR6094. He released a statement about it earlier this year. See:
http://edworkforce.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=399190

Oh, his stance on CTE which is the adult level for Common Core? He voted ‘Yes’ to the HR 5587 on 9/13/16. As you know I extensively researched HR5587 and exposed all the CCSS Machine ties. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/congress-loves-cte/

Walberg also voted ‘Yes’ to the ESSA back in Dec. 2015. His vote for WIOA back in 2014? Also a ‘Yes’. As far as the HEA, Walberg shared quite a bit of news he was so proud of: http://walberg.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=372550

Delaying the rule may be a good move, it may not. However, when you have a federal level committee churning out CTE bills faster than ever, you know it’s going to be bad by the time all the poop flushes down the toilet. Add to these facts, it appears Walberg is holding the tissue paper, we’d better see EXACTLY  what U.S. Labor Dept. rule needs a delay.
“Wages and Fair Standards Labor Act” or FLSA. See: https://www.dol.gov/whd/flsa/

Why should we, the Anti CCSS Warriors give this a moment’s concern? Since ESSA expands Career Tech Education, P3s (public private partnerships), aligns to learn-to-earn initiatives, and more, We MUST pay attention! ESSA also builds on the mandate for more career exploration activities. The FLSA shows a detailed list of what is covered and what’s not when it comes to wages and related activities. (*Note: access the above FLSA website and look for ‘handy reference guide’. Also, look at the child labor information: http://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/whd/flsa/cl/default.htm
Knowing how the CCSS Machine is bent on breeding young workers, we NEED to know what, if anything will be changing.)

If you wish to see the U.S. Representative’s Ed/Workforce spin on HR6094 via their ‘Fact Sheet’: http://edworkforce.house.gov/uploadedfiles/fact_sheet_-_h.r._6094.pdf

Meet the Plungers:

When I saw the tweet earlier this week, about how ‘great’ this bill is, I knew in an instant, that something foul is in the making.
oldpoop

So, how do I know these groups are ‘plungers’? First off, I do not know if every single one of these groups is a CCSS Machine member.

However, looking at the above picture, I can easily spot several CCSS Machine members/groups. For example: the APLU (Association of Public Land Grant Universities) is up to their necks in education alignment to the CCSS Machine.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/01/06/ftf-more-evidence-for-aligned-ccss-higher-education/
`
Another easy one to spot? The AACC (American Association of Community Colleges)
Here’s my latest article on them. They are a notoriously known CCSS Machine member grouphttps://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/23/local-schools-open-for-wioa/

What other group do I have research on? The AASCU (American Association of State Colleges and Universities).
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/10/27/ftf-measure-twice-cut-once/

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a HUGE CCSS Machine ‘plunger’!! One of my past articles about them: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/05/22/fom-chambers-pot-of-lies-for-ccss/
Then, more recently, I shared how the State Chambers of Commerce (which get big bucks from the U.S. Chamber):
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/aligned-workforces/

As far as groups like the NCPA, Heritage Action, etc. I do not know their stances on CCSS or any of the aforementioned related materials. HOWEVER, I would caution ANY group willing to work with these known CCSS Machine member groups.

Flush the poop, clean your hands of the CCSS Machine’s agenda, and get out of the bathroom. Helping align our nation in ANY way to the workforce based education, is a sewer-worthy move.

Bridges and Ladders

My Fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors,

In the above picture you see a classic example of a brilliant mind. Leonardo da Vinci’s “Revolving Bridge”.  He created this, and other bridges for military purposes. The bridges were light weight (easy to carry, travels well), they were sturdy (conveyed strength), and they lasted long periods of time.

I use this as an example, not to give you a history lesson, but to use it as an analogy for the webinar devoted to higher education.

During the CCSS Machine sponsored webinar, education bridges, ladders, and pathways were discussed. Much like Leonardo da Vinci’s “Revolving Bridge”, higher education is set to become transportable (easy to carry, travels well/stackable, chunkable certifications), sturdy with more ‘rigor’ (conveying strength), and lock in lifelong learning (lasts a long time).

The Webinar:

Hosted by Atlantic Live! (an arm of the publication, The Atlantic Magazine) Atlantic Magazine also has another arm, a project called “Next America”. If memory serves me correctly, the last time I wrote about “Next America”, Sen. Lamar Alexander was a featured speaker. If I’m thinking correctly it was the time period leading up to HR5 (Student Success Act) and S1177 (Every Child Achieves Act) were in the making. Of course, as history shows, HR5 and S1177 ‘married’ and gave us ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act.

Why do I bring this up? IF history is about to repeat itself, then Atlantic’s Next America having Rep. John Kline and other sold out CCSS Machine members gather to ‘discuss’ where higher education should go, we need to pay attention! Especially when your conversation guides are hand picked to feed the agenda of streamlining education to create a birth to grave education ladder or bridge.
hebridge

The image you see above is NOT from one of the CCSS Machine member organizations present at the webinar. But, it does give you a great idea how the webinar’s conversation was geared.

Lumina Foundation, the Gates Foundation, Next America, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and key members from SIGs (special interest groups) in higher education either had representative speak or they helped fund the production. Adding Rep. John Kline as the only federal Congress member was not a fluke. It was a strategic move. Kline admitted during the webinar that he had just come from breakfast with Sen. Lamar Alexander. You see, the two are partners in education demise.

Here’s the link to the webinar’s introduction page: http://www.theatlantic.com/live/events/the-changing-face-of-higher-education/2016/
(*Note: Archive version should be available soon. You can check out the Twitter account for more information, too. Use #NextAmerica)

The Biggest Warnings for Us:

1) The changes are coming, no doubt at all. The CCSS Machine has already begun turning the screws for higher education/post-secondary education. As I’ve shared with you many times, this is how EVERY citizen from ALL educational backgrounds will be funneled through the CCSS Machine. One of the choice terms for citizens during the webinar? “Human Capital”. The very first comment spoken by the Lumina Foundation’s education ‘expert’: “Post-secondary education MUST change.”

2) The CBE (competency based education), Career Pathways, MOOCs, digital learning, soft skills development, and more are the front runners for all the changes. New patterns, systems, and alignment are either in the works, or yet to be created. BUT, they will be added.
3) Purposed placement of school counselors in our K-12 systems are already identifying students who are ‘achievers’, tracks them, pulling them into a pathway to a baccalaureate degree in college (sometimes early college) via community colleges(which by the way, are Common Core, Career Tech aligned). Then, these graduates are funneled through to a 4 year institution. Look for “Pathways Colleges”. The example program given was “Pathway to Baccalaureate”. See: https://www.nvcc.edu/pathway/ (*Note: look for the ‘extraordinary pipeline to college’. Running this program? Former NC Community College President, Scott Randall. He was key in helping align all 58 NC Community Colleges to the CCSS Machine.)

The rest of the students? They get tracked too. Their path will be directly to community college, get a skill, get a job. Return to community college, get another skill, return to job. Repeat this cycle until you have all the credentials you need to enter your career field. The ‘new’ higher education?! Imagine it for 100% of the population. I’m not kidding. Some form of higher education (aka: post-secondary institution) is what can help America.

4) Rep. Kline’s comments contained these ‘gems’.
a) The key higher education moves in the U.S. House’s “Better Way” plan. It was revealed that the Paul Ryan pushed Plan is based largely on Kline’s earlier work in politics. Education is SO important that it’s embedded in the ‘economy’ plan under item #4.
See: http://abetterway.speaker.gov/?page=economy (*Note: KIine was quick to repeatedly use ‘bipartisan’ and ‘bicameral’ when it came to education. However, for all the bi-partisanship in the House, he didn’t mention the House Democrats view for higher education. If you want to see what CCSS friendly programs they  would like to keep or expand: http://democrats-edworkforce.house.gov/issues/education/higher-education. Examples of CCSS aligned programs: TRIO and GEAR UP.) Kline was asked how the Senators view higher education. He said that was ‘unfair’.)
b) The U.S. Congress only has a few days left before closing before the 2016 Election, so much has to be done quickly. Means rushed legislation moves. Bad news for everyone.
c) “More Access, More Success” via lower costs in higher education. His solutions?! CBE and digital education. America MUST promote innovation! This will keep the government out of the way. Oh really?! I guess the ConnectEd, the Computer Science for All, Digital Promise, etc. are all ways to keep government of education. Especially when each of these i is embedded ALREADY in ESSA and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) or their related legislation. By the way, Kline said there have been 5 related bills already passed by the entire Congress to continue support for America’s College Promise (Obama’s plan for ‘free’ community college. “Free” is costing taxpayers at least $60 billion.) Way to keep government out of education, huh?!
d) Kline favors more digital, that’s obvious, but he also stated that families and students need things simple..as in a digital dashboard. The biggest impediment right now in higher education? Seat time because it’s taking away from CBE time and hinders credit hours. More P3s (used the Clemson/car manufacturing joint program as an example.) are the best way for America to go.

5) Add to your list of global programs, like “Education for All” and “Universal PreK for All”. The new one brought up in the webinar? “Universal Free Public Higher Education”.
I found the EduCause’s older version of “universal higher education for all” (circa 2000).

Speaking of The Global Citizen:

There was plenty more in the webinar which can be used to alert us to the ‘global citizen’ mindset that the CCSS Machine is shoving at us.
a) pay as you go/learn to earn models
b) systems where higher education tracks your work hours while tracking your education hours so that you can have 2 transcripts to show you are a skilled citizen
c) eliminating extra curricular activities to divert space for the common community’s good (example: Paul Quinn College shut down their football team (said it was a drain on finances) and converted the football stadium into an organic community accessible farm.) The President of Paul Quinn College has been glorified by the Atlantic Magazine. He’s also been groomed for educational ‘success’ in part by the Aspen Institute. (Article about the Presidenthttp://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2016/09/bringing-a-college-back-from-the-brink/500375/)

weme
I am not singling out this college, but rather, using it as an example. The reason we have extra curricular activities like football, arts, music, etc. is to expand our minds, exercise our bodies. Seeing these vital parts of Americana vanish is sad. Seeing them aligned to the CCSS Machine, outright tragic.

Seeing so many leaders in America moving us away from independence and freedom is not only un-American, it’s criminal!

King’s Bandwagon..It’s A-comin’

kingcommentcollective

Yes, Anti-Fed Ed Warriors, you saw it correctly…Dr. John King, U.S. Secretary of Education has waxed ‘collective’ when it comes to your students. We’ve known for a while his attitude towards parents, so it shouldn’t be a surprise when he comes up with yet another insulting comment.

Climbing on My Soapbox for a Moment:

‘Everybody’ did not help me birth or raise my children. I didn’t help you birth or raise yours. We CERTAINLY do NOT need the U.S. Dept. of Education’s help either!!
I do NOT desire to see anyone’s child climb on board King’s ‘we’re-all-in-this-together’ bandwagon. The popular mindset in D.C.:  we need as many folks as possible to raise/teach our kids. If this continues: we won’t have a bandwagon of student’s champions, but I fear, village idiots running amuck! It appears, however, that King is determined to get as many on his bandwagon as he can. What do I mean?! Let me climb off my soapbox and we’ll find out.

First Stop, NPR:

Dr. King was a guest on “All Things Considered”, Sept. 3, 2016. You can either listen to the archive or read the transcript of the interview. I am choosing the transcript. The less I have to hear a CCSS Machine disciple spew rhetoric, the better.
http://www.npr.org/2016/09/03/492549553/education-secretary-says-status-quo-in-schools-is-unacceptable

As I usually do, I’ll only point out the things that need our attention the most. For example, get a load of the bandwagon-mindset title NPR chose to circulate the interview.
‘King/status quo/unacceptable’ ?!!? Are you kidding me?! Has NO ONE at NPR read ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)?! Has NO ONE at NPR talked with Congress lately?! Sure, they obviously talked to King, but he’s a CCSS Machine disciple.

Those in the D.C. arm of the CCSS Machine wouldn’t know ‘quality education’ if it sat up and punched them!
King is acting out what the CCSS Machine wants..and it WANTS STATUS QUO citizens!

As far as the interview, here are the bandwagon-worthy statements NPR and/or King had the audacity to utter.
1) NPR: “Earlier this week, his agency proposed new rules that would govern how school districts distribute federal money meant to support the education of low-income kids. The rules are intended to ensure that these federal funds, known as Title I, can only be used in addition to state and local money and not instead of those funds.”

Excuse me, but does anyone see the bandwagon mindset? HIS agency?! Governing how Fed $$ is spent?!

What was included in King’s response? “And so this is really about requiring districts to direct resources to the kids who need them most, to ensure that students have access to pre-K, to advanced coursework, to school counselors.”

Hold the horses, Dr. King! The amount of federal overreach into education has gone far enough! We DO NOT need NOR want more ways for you to require, mandate, order, or govern for us. The ironic thing is that school counselors have been ‘encouraged’ to become Career Track/Pathway and/or College and Career Readiness sales personnel! Pre-K should be up to the parents, not the government. Not every student should go to Pre-K. They need those crucial parental bonding times. (*Note: be sure you read how upset he is over Civil Rights when it comes to AP (Advanced Placement) courses. When you factor in how un-advanced those courses have been reduced to, he should be incensed about that ‘status quo’ move.)

2) The sympathy card is played by both. Whhaaa…Grow up. Most of us have hard times and don’t go on to purposefully muck up millions of students, teachers, education leaders, and abuse taxpayers money to achieve the ‘muckness of it all’.

3) The charter school/school choice card is played. Again, did no one read ESSA? ‘School choice’ is a mirage waiting for us to fall into! Charters are being aligned now to take over public schools in some states as a way to ‘fix’ those low ‘whole school grades/report cards’. If you ever need a fine example of P3 (public private partnership) disasters, look at the CCSS Machine and what’s it’s done to education.

4) NPR: “… is part of the play here on these new regulations is that if affluent schools realize they might lose something, that that might create some urgency around making sure that less affluent kids get what they need – is that part of the logic of this?”

Oh NO they DIDN’T! There is absolutely, positively NOTHING playful about ESSA or Dr. King’s rein as the top person in charge of education at the federal level! As far as ‘logic’, leveling education to a one-size-serves-all is the entire agenda.

This is where King’s response you see in the tweet above comes into context. But..what ELSE did he utter? Here’s the entire set of comments. “I hope in the end it’s that folks see that they have a stake in the success of other people’s children. The reality is you can’t build walls high enough to keep the fate of your kids separate from the fate of the kid down the block, down the street, down the road, in the next community over – all our kids’ fates are bound up together. And the work that we’re doing on supplement not supplant, the work that we’re doing on socioeconomic diversity in schools and promoting efforts to increase school diversity, all of that is about saying we are one community and we are ultimately stronger together.”

Ahh, yes..Dr. King, your global citizenship card is in the mail!

Second Stop, A Fed Ed Tour to Inspire:

Yes, the U.S. Dept. of Ed is, once again, polishing up  their CCSS/CTE (Common Core State Standards/Career Tech Education) indoctrination bandwagon using OUR taxpayer funds to convince (oh wait, sorry, it is to inspire us) all Americans how ‘opportunity’ awaits.

The Tour is officially known as “Opportunity Across America”. There’s even a handy website with smiling faces you can visit to learn more: http://www2.ed.gov/opportunity/index.html

“Opportunity for All” is code for “Mediocrity for All”!

Bandwagon stops: D.C., VA, TN, AL, AR, MS, and LA

What opportunity/mediocrity will King help promote on this latest bandwagon show?
By the way, King is a puppet for the CCSS Machine in each of these.

a) Pell Grants (used in the HEA, Higher Education Act). Pell has been refigured to align with stipulations in WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) This includes “Second Chance Pell Grants”.
b) America’s College Promise (used in secondary and post-secondary education, White House created and federally funded) will be found in ESSA, WIOA, and HEA. Totally aligned to the CCSS Machine. Often sold as ‘free college’ or ‘free community college’.
c) ConnectED (used in Pre-K to career, public libraries, and more) If you missed by eye opening revelation of how ConnectEd is not only a White House created Initiative, then you need to see it. It’ll show you tons to help you connect the indoctrination dots.
(See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/06/your-home-or-bust/)
d) Pre-K for All (mandated in ESSA and based on universal design for learning; will start our babies out in the ways of the CCSS Machine, not our ways.)
e) Promise Neighborhoods (codified in the ESSA, this White House created and led Initiative is now law. With it will come whole community/family alignment to the CCSS Machine in the guise of ‘student success’.)
f) Computer Science for All (another White House created and championed Initiative. The Fed Ed 2017 Budget Requests for this are astronomical. It is also woven into Item C, ConnectED. This is meant for every citizen’s alignment, not just students.
g) Teach to Lead (2017 Budget figures are ‘off the charts’ as well as every organization leading the teachers on how to lead students? CCSS Machine banner carrying member organizations.)

The rest of the items are woven into ESSA, WIOA, and or HEA collectively where needed. They include Race to the Top, college affordability, school turnarounds and anything connected. If they are in all 3 of the laws, they’ll be in one of them.

The video for “Opportunity for All” is below. In the first few seconds, you’ll hear each of the above programs championed by the President of the United States. Please note how many of the above programs are from his office. Remember, this President doesn’t have an educational background, but rather legions of educrats advising him.

Closing:

Warriors, I encourage you to go to one of the bandwagon tour stops. Protest the use of your tax money used against us. Protest the unjust activity of using ‘opportunity’ as a guise for ‘control’!
If you cannot attend:  tweet, email, or call Dr. King, the U.S. Dept. of Ed., and Congress!!
Join the nationally recognized anti fed-ed groups, like U.S. PIE (United States Parents Involved in Education, http://www.uspie.org), share this information with someone who needs it. More more truth we raise, the more the bandwagon will shrink.
