S.O.S Assessments, Pt. 2

A couple of days ago, Warriors, I shared some news about the ESSA assessments.
Today’s article will give you some of the information and research you need to know in order to understand the name game that the CCSS Machine is playing with us.

A Hidden “Gem”:

Where we left off:  U.S. PIE and their team’s worthy efforts of exposing the deceptions surrounding the innovative moves in the works for testing our students.

Among some of the evidence revealed by that team of volunteer parents for U.S. PIE, was the use of the word ‘modular’ in the language describing the ‘innovations’ ESSA’s assessments are bringing us.

“We also note that, under part A of title I of the ESEA, as amended by the ESSA, States have the flexibility to use computer-adaptive statewide assessments, to administer a single summative statewide assessment, or to offer multiple statewide interim assessments during the course of the academic year that result in a single summative score and provides valid, reliable, and transparent information on student achievement (e.g., modular assessments).”
I urge you, if you haven’t seen this document, to read it. While the excerpt sounds like States will have some choices, they won’t.

So why did I use the word ‘educrat’ to describe the authors?

Prof. AL-Smadi is a “Google Scholar”. As we know, Google’s a huge CCSS Machine member organization.Visit his “Google Scholar” page and you’ll see tons of works/studies on assessments for students. (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=im_3CvwAAAAJ) Now, simply being a “Google Scholar” doesn’t make this professor an educrat. No, in my research, when folks willingly and knowingly work for or promote any part of the CCSS Machine, that qualifies them.

So, what else has Prof. AL_Smadi participated in? “Learning Layers”, a global career-clusters-like project. ‘Career Clusters’, by the way are a part of the CCSS Machine for students of all ages. It’s also a “7th Framework Programme”. What is blue blazes is THAT?!

So, what’s the big deal? The Learning Layers project the Professor worked with is responsible for the “Learning Toolbox”. What’s the “Learning Toolbox”? A work-based education tool. See the “Learning Layers” blog: http://learning-layers.eu/news/

The 7 page paper these 3 Scholars wrote discussed why 21st Century assessments via computer (e-assessing) was (is) such a promising field.

**If you still unsure how ‘modular assessing’ works, this simple definition for modular assessing, “A modular course is defined as a part of the main course that can stand alone. The topics are related and when combined with all other parts, become the entire course. Modular courses may not exist without the main course. Some modules may be self-paced. Classes may be offered as faculty lectures, on Web, using CDs, on campus, off campus, or a combination of all of the above with an exam at the end of each module. Modular courses run full term; modules may or may not run full term.”

**Remember, ESSA’s language mandates that all education, including assessments, must be streamlined to post-secondary readiness; that standards be aligned to what higher ed uses, SO by using ‘modular assessments’, it is easier to force alignment in testing/teaching.

 


A Stop in Cambridge:

Why pay attention to Cambridge’s findings?! Consider the global shift in education. Wherever education is, assessments will also be! Consider the American demise of shifting from one type of harmful assessing to another type.

So, how does ESSA propose to improve testing?!  “Innovative assessments”. The ‘innovation’, however, is MORE e-assessing, MORE data mining. How? Modular testing systems!

Remember, those experts above have been working non-stop (so have scores of other CCSS Machine members) to make sure those modular assessments fit the requirements. Shamefully, Congress, the CCSS Machine, and others made sure this shift was embedded in ESSA.

Local Schools Open for WIOA!

Anti CCSS/ESSA/Fed Led Ed Warriors, want to get your local leaders’ or State leaders’ attention during campaign season? Show them any of the pictures below.

The source of the 1st picture? The local (NC) Community College which has a location in the town I live in, as well as the main campus, about 15 miles away.

I have shared with you several times in the past about the purposed alignment of our community colleges to serve the CCSS Machine, which DOES include WIOA. What’s “WIOA”? The U.S. Dept. of Labor’s “Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act”. It was made a ‘law of the land’ in 2014.

Community Colleges are not the ONLY servant of the CCSS Machine when it comes to WIOA, but because these local schools are sold out, it means EVERY citizen using the schools is becoming a part of the CCSS Machine.

Remember, our local community colleges use Common Core (now called “College and Career Readiness”), Career Tech Ed, STEM, participate in learn-to-work programs, may belong to the American Apprenticeship Initiative, and, have vast P3 (public private partnerships). Between WIOA, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds), and the HEA (Higher Education Act), our community colleges have become the ideal breeding ground for aligned and ‘educated’ workers.

These facts are NOT new, what IS new is that those involved in the CCSS Machine are becoming bolder about where we’ll find it. I can tell you, as many years as I have received this local school’s catalog, this is the first time I have seen the ‘pending’ phrase. To the informed eye, this is a dire warning; to those unaware? Most of what they will see is opportunity. As we know, CCSS Machine opportunities come with strings which mean to ‘enslave’ one, not allow one’s freedom.

Why? It shows you directly which State level agencies are receiving WIOA funds, the formulas used, AND which citizens are to fit which type of worker they will be classified as.

Updates from the National Groups:

There are several national groups overseeing and/or designed to encourage our community colleges. What are some of their latest CCSS Machine moves to blend education and workforce?

From the American Assoc. of Community Colleges, a ‘new’ initiative aimed at citizens over the age of 50. The initiative actually began in 2008, but has received updates as recent as 2015. Known as “Plus 50”, it also has a smaller tagline of ‘ageless learning’.  See the screen shot below:

While some candidates are pitching ‘free college’ or ‘free community college’ as a reason to support them, know that the concept is an actual program with White House directed roots. The American Apprenticeship Initiative (AAI):

From the current (2016) AAI information, there is an 82 page document explaining how the programs work on the state level now; how they are to expand, including: what kinds of legislative bodies, State politicians, data mining systems, and more are needed for the NEW Grant Applications (the “State Expansion Grant” above). There is to be governor led and pledged support, more registered apprentices AND registered/approved apprentice programs for national credentials, more data tracking and mining. *Look around page 7.

Right now the DOL (Dept. of Labor) has these States as having 7,000 or more registered apprentices (Category 1):
 “(State Agencies Managing Apprenticeships (SAA) States): Virginia, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, Florida, Hawaii, and Oregon; (DOL Office of Apprenticeship (OA) Managed States): California, Texas, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Missouri.”

Category 2 States (have anywhere between 2,500 and 4,999 registered apprentices) are:
(SAA States): District of Columbia, Connecticut, North Carolina, Louisiana, Kentucky, and Kansas; (OA States): Iowa, West Virginia, Georgia, New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee, Colorado, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, and Utah.

Category 3 States (fewer then 2,499 registered apprenticeships) are:
(SAA States/Territories): – Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, Vermont, Guam, Maine Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands; (OA States): Nebraska, Alaska, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Idaho, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Depending on what category your State is is how much NEW grant money you can apply for. Get this very important document: FOA-ETA-16-13

Warriors, we must share this news NOW! Everyday we are silent is another day the CCSS Machine grinds on. As you can see from above, no age is exempt.

Is This Truly the Best?

Recently, my fellow anti CCSS/Fed Led Ed Warriors, I had a very concerned citizen from a state with several U.S. Tribal Schools, contact me. The concern? How ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act, (and its school reform clauses) is to impact the schools for Native Americans on their reservations (or serving nearby). While I know there are mandates in ESSA for the Native American Tribes, as well as a separate section for the Hawaiian Tribal education, this concern raised the question to a level I cannot ignore.

Not to be cynical, but are you kidding me? It is NO secret that our U.S. Government has hardly done the best it could for the Native Americans, so HOW in the world are we (or expect those impacted by the BIE)  to ‘buy into’ the fact that ESSA is NOT the best for ANYONE!?

Does BIE also support WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), HEA (Higher Education Act), STEM, American Apprenticeship Initiative, Career Tech Education, Competency Based Education, Universal PreK and/or College and Career Readiness?
Why do I ask this? Every one of this laws or concepts is embedded in ESSA.

We already know ESSA and all its relations are to impact every school choice, so the answer would have to already be a ‘yes’ one. You will see more of the connections as you read on.

School Reform:

Since the concerned question I received was on the school reform issue, just what does the BIE have to say about this topic? In a summary, the BIE is choosing to reform itself as a government agency FIRST, then address the individual schools.

Here is an excerpt, “To effect real change in BIE-funded schools, the BIE organization must change how it delivers services to schools. The current administrative structure is a relic of the past when all BIE schools and dormitories were directly operated by the federal government and oriented towards “command and control” of its own schools. Today, the federal government no longer operates the majority of BIE schools; rather, tribal nations or locally controlled school boards directly manage 68 percent of BIE-funded schools. The BIE’s administrative structure, however, never evolved to meet this new reality.    The proposed reorganization will modernize the BIE and help it take a critical step towards becoming a school improvement organization rather than a direct operator of schools. After extensive consultations, the BIE proposes important organizational changes which are essential to improve outcomes for Native American youth.”

The E-Rate legislation created a not-so-obvious way for the CCSS Machine to not only overreach into education, but into our entire communities for streamlined alignment connecting work and education. I exposed this on Prevent Common Core awhile back.

NIEA, National Indian Educators Association:

This organization has been around since the 1960s. It is the largest Native American Educator group in the nation. Thus, lots of influence. NIEA was also among the collection of groups signing a supportive letter from the Leadership Conference’s Civil Rights arm to SUPPORT ESSA!

Congress Loves CTE

congresscteAnti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, it’s one thing that Congress is in its recess right now, but have you seen what they did just before leaving D.C.?  Look above. Both of these, HR5587 AND S3271 made their debut in July 2016.

If you have followed my research and writing for long, you know that one of my specialties is ‘Common Core’ after high school, regardless of where the PreK through High School is completed.

If you haven’t followed me long, then you haven’t seen how, in the fall of 2014, I exposed the Adult Common Core State Standards, or how, I exposed how the Career and Technical Education was changed to Career Tech Education. You haven’t seen where I tied Career Clusters, Career Pathways, The American Apprenticeship Initiative, STEM, and STEM to STEAM, back to Common Core. To keep the focus on what is current, I will not be sharing the links to each of these juggernauts. However, if you need the information, please, let me know.

 

The Purposed Legislative Scramble ( more background before we tackle the ‘latest’ news):

In one of my articles published not long after the ink was dry on ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), I told you the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) was embedded in ESSA about 65 times. WIOA is also linked to HEA (Higher Education Act) via the Carl Perkins funding.

WIOA also ties back to the American Apprenticeships and STEM (along with the STEM to STEAM). ESSA has STEM embedded too. Most citizens have been shocked when I share with them that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math; the ‘a’ was added later and embedded the Arts in STEM to create STEAM) is NOT separate from CCSS (Common Core State Standards) but is in fact a product of the interaction between the PCAST (President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) and the President USING CCSS as a detractor from what was really happening! Just as CCSS is no friend to education reform, the way STEM has been rolled out, is not a friend either. Why? The goal of STEM is not education, but a ‘workforce nation’. Does this sound familiar?!

Think of it this way:

Warriors, there has been NO mistake about the workforce shift. There has been no law related (in any way, shape, form, or fashion) to education without it. These have been  carefully plotted moves in the making for YEARS. As other researchers have also shown you, the movement is global, not exclusive to America.

So, it shouldn’t really be a surprise to find our Congress creating MORE legislation along the streamlined workforce path already in place.

What’s a Warrior to do?! Speak up to your Congress members. Especially if they are sponsoring either HR5587 or S3271. Spread the knowledge, many citizens in America are convinced that CCSS (and now ESSA) is ONLY K-12 and in traditional type schools. THIS IS A LIE, regardless who tells you!

ESSA has birth to first grade readiness, special needs alignment, dual and concurrent enrollment, AP or IB classes/courses, and every conceivable education choice ensnared. Either through the digital assessments (to take place inside and outside the home), funding (not just education funds, but health/human services, labor, commerce, etc.), FASFA forms, and/or wrap around services for entire communities.  ESSA is written to conform, not to free States.

 

HR 5587, Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act:

Here’s what we need to know as Warriors Against Fed Led Ed:
1) Being championed as a ‘bipartisan’ piece of great legislation, 5587, passed the Ed and Workforce (U.S. House of Representatives) by a vote of 37-0.
2) 5587 was introduced by Rep. Thompson of PA and Rep. Clark from MA.
3) Press release is dated July 2016, Congress is in recess until early September.
4) The purpose of 5587? “reauthorizes and reforms the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act to help more Americans enter the workforce with the skills they need to compete for high-skilled, in-demand jobs.”
5) Be sure to read the other Representatives who are featured in the Press Release. Take note of Rep. Kline’s. He was a huge backer of ESSA before it was called ESSA. Speaking of such, remember when you step into the voting booths in November that the House of Representative’s education bill (HR5) went on to become key in ESSA’s language. Also remember the voting record of HR5..it had not a single “No” vote.
6) You will also see several bullet points about the great flexibility States will have to streamline work and education (there is even a shameless plug for how it will help taxpayers). As we have proven with ESSA, State and local flexibility is not true.
7) 5587 is 88 pages long. It takes effect 7/1/17. Subtle shifts in language (just as in ESSA) pack a powerful punch. How so? See for yourselves, “(A) by striking ‘‘academic and career and  technical skills’’ and inserting ‘‘academic knowledge and technical and employability skills’’; (B) by inserting ‘‘and programs of study’’  after ‘‘technical education programs’’;  (2) in paragraph (3), by striking ‘‘, including  tech prep education’’;  (3) in paragraph (4), by inserting ‘‘and programs of study’’ after ‘‘technical education programs’’; and  5  (4) in paragraph (6), by inserting ‘‘or programs’’ after ‘‘education schools’’ ”
8) You’ll also see other big shifts in the language, like ‘in demand’ occupations, regionally based education, competency based education, etc.

S3271, Workforce Advance Act:

The Press Release from Sen. Bennet (CO)‘s website: https://www.bennet.senate.gov/?p=release&id=3742
Again, bipartisanship is being heralded.
Again, ‘more choice’ in learning (a very false positive statement). See how Sen. Bennet’s website stated it, give more high school students the opportunity to take career and technical education college courses that can help prepare them for success in the 21st century. The Workforce Advance Act will help strengthen and expand dual and concurrent enrollment and early college high school options as part of Perkins-supported career technical education (CTE) programs. Strong CTE programs can provide vital access to the knowledge and skills needed for job and career success.”

But that’s not all S3271 will do. Check out what teachers have to look forward to, “The bill would allow schools to use a portion of the funding they receive through the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act for tuition and fees for CTE college courses. It would also allow school districts to use funding to support teachers pursuing the credentials needed to teach these courses in their high schools, helping to remove a barrier to providing access to college credit. Finally, the bill would allow the Department of Education to use national CTE activities to help identify successful methods and best practices for providing dual or concurrent enrollment programs and early college high school career and technical education opportunities.”

Warriors, ‘region specific education’ is already written into ESSA. Teachers being trained to teach post-secondary readiness (for college and career) is already written into ESSA! ‘National activities’ and CTE activities’ are also already written into ESSA!

Other tentacles of WIOA, HEA, STEM, and ESSA in S3271:
1) apprenticeships
2) public-private partnerships, especially in businesses
3) data mining and sharing of data between U.S. Dept. of Ed, U.S. Dept. of Labor, U.S. Commerce Dept., and all of these at the State levels, too.
4) more use of students as ‘lab rats’ for ‘evidence based research’.
5) how those in rural areas will be encompassed
6) special needs tracks for CTE will also increase

Presently, the U.S. Senate’s HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) Committee has S3271. This is also the same group headed by Sen. Lamar Alexander. HELP is also charged with checking up on how ESSA is progressing.

Where did the backbone for S3271 come from? According to the Senate’s supporting documents for S3271, the State Directors for CTE  and the Assoc. for CTE created a document of principles for S3271. See: Senate Principles Crosswalk_FINAL

What you see below is the evidence to verify what my research has already shown,
1) that WIOA is, in fact embedded in ESSA.
2) that school counselors (per a White House led Initiative) are to influence students
(related will be the counselors at the one-stop-job/career-centers where non traditional students and those seeking a job will be influenced)
3) that ANY school receiving Perkins funding will be impacted (this includes the proprietary (for profit) schools and virtual schools.

“Fed” Triples Up

My fellow Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, while the U.S. Dept. of Education is anxiously waiting for the public comment period on the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Proposed Regulations to END, they are also busy pumping out MORE CCSS Machine rhetoric.

This time it is celebration of the 2nd anniversary of WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act). What does WIOA have to do with ESSA? After all, ESSA was supposed to impact K-12th grades only.

Well, if you haven’t been following my blog or research long, you haven’t seen how I was able to uncover how WIOA is written into the ESSA’s language; is now a mandated part of ESSA; how it ties CTE (Career Tech Education), CCR (College and Career Readiness), AAI (American Apprenticeship Initiative), CP (Career Pathways), CC (Career Clusters), and CBE (Competency Based Education) BOTH the laws together. You also haven’t seen how BOTH the Laws are also tied to the HEA (Higher Education Act), or, how HEA is also full of the alphabet soup names you see above.

What does the WIOA have to do with the Proposed Regulations for ESSA? Put briefly, plenty. The Regulations mandate that in the name of ‘State Accountability’ TO the ‘Fed Ed’, how ALL students must be shown as on track for College/Career Readiness; that ALL teachers MUST teach to post-secondary readiness, and more.

My point? Simple: We are getting a triple hit of ‘education reform’ via the CCSS Machine’s grasp in D.C.! WIOA is a law the U.S. Dept. of Labor is under. We know ESSA is the law the U.S. Dept. of Ed is under. So which federal agency is the third portion of the triple hit?
The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. HOW? The HHS is in ALL the Laws anywhere near this shift in education FROM academics TO workforce based.

Among those 5 things ED wants to know and celebrate (but haven’t told you to down sides about each) are in bold type, my ‘down’ side to each will be italicized.

b) a job network across the nation relying upon massive data mining/sharing
c) the job network will ensnare anyone looking for work and align them via training or re-training
d) community-wide, P3 involvement for reform (by the way, ESSA mandates region specific educational tracks)

As the march toward a complete implementation of ESSA, we will see more rhetoric like above. We must be consistent in exposing the rhetoric, Warriors! So know that all the WIOA/ESSA/HEA laced education is awaiting our nation in the upcoming 2016-17 school year.

One way to help exposure from our side of the War Against the Core is to publicly comment on the Proposed ESSA Regulations, especially where the connections between education and workforce exist. From the researched evidence for the ESSA Proposed Regulations, the anti Fed-Ed group, US PIE (United State Parents Involved in Education)’s special team found the following.
1)   “ESSA is supposed to give flexibility and more control to States by decreasing the burden of reporting requirements. Proposed regulations 299.13 and 299.19 will expand data reporting for “States and LEAs in order to provide parents, practitioners, policy makers, and public officials at the Federal, State, and local levels with actionable data,” which will entail additional costs for States. These reports must include accountability indicators to show how the State is aligned with a College and Career Readiness Standard (Common Core).” 

2)  “Proposed 200.21 through 200.24 require LEA’s to include evidence-based interventions in order to receive improvement funds. Such interventions include the safe and healthy school environments and the community and family engagement plans. These plans include the heavy use of surveys—student surveys and home surveys.”

3) “Proposed 200.14 states assessments provide information about whether all students are on track to graduate “college-and-career-ready” (Common Core).”

Speeding Through Education, Pts. 1/2

Warriors, my anti CCSS/ESSA Weekend News was such a revelation, wasn’t it? Thank you to all who have responded. As I promised in the ‘Closing’ of that article, I am using today’s “From the Files” post to look at the OTHER gifted/talented national organizations. Are they just as sold out and devoted to the CCSS Machine as the NAGC (National Assoc. of Gifted Children)? If you missed the NAGC article,

Part One: Speeding Up’s Agenda:

If you didn’t know it (or you missed the big bombshell news), the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has written in the ‘fine print’ how gifted and high-ability learners will be used as research subjects. We have seen how the U.S. Dept. of Ed and its partners have used other sub-groups of students for research purposes in the past. It is truly despicable! So why write into the ESSA measures to create a NEW gifted and talented research facility, a director to oversee this, AND the Sec. of Ed’s power used to control it all?! Based on research of my own into the CCSS Machine (including its agenda, legislation, etc.), I think it is a two-prong plan.

Prong #1: Separate the gifted/talented students from the students who are not. It fits right in with the leader/follower mentality we have seen surface in CCSS lessons, maneuvers for alignment to a workforce based education system, AND in the Career Clusters of the CCSS Machine. How? Look at the small number of Clustered Tracks for Career in Management/Leadership and compare it to the larger Clustered Tracks for workers.

Prong #2: Control and greed. We know much of the rhetoric surrounding the ESSA is more about global workforce for a global economy than whether or not Johnny and Susie can read, write, or think for themselves. We’ve also heard enough junk about training for those mysterious 21st Century jobs with 21st Century Skills. So, take those 2 Prongs, apply them to the gifted learners and what do you get? Students speeding through education. This also fits the ‘cart before the horse’ tactics the CCSS/CCR/CTE (Common Core State Standards, College and Career Readiness, Career Tech Education) uses. Teachers are being forced to introduce lessons, resources, and other materials to students who are simply not mature enough (yes, this applies to our high-ability learners, too) to handle it all. Throw in the fact that written in the ESSA is the mandate that ALL students learn (and teachers teach) to ‘Challenging State Academic Standards’ which also align with credentialed industry parameters all geared for post-secondary readiness. (On pages 32 and 33 of the ESSA Final Conference Report, you can find how States(on their local levels) must use part of the federal funds for education which fits this mandate. States MUST tie this to the WIOA, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014)

Here’s the excerpt, “‘‘(c) LOCAL USE OF FUNDS.—A local educational  agency receiving an award under this section— ‘‘(1) may use not more than 1 percent of its award for outreach and communication to parents about available direct student services described in  paragraph (3) in the local educational agency and  State;  ‘‘(2) may use not more than 2 percent of its  award for administrative costs related to such direct student services;  ‘‘(3) shall use the remainder of the award to  pay the costs associated with one or more of the following direct student services—
‘‘(A) enrollment and participation in academic courses not otherwise available at a student’s school, including— ‘‘(i) advanced courses; and ‘‘(ii) career and technical education coursework that— ‘‘(I) is aligned with the challenging State academic standards; and ‘‘(II) leads to industry-recognized credentials that meet the quality criteria established by the State under  section 123(a) of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (2910 U.S.C. 3102); ‘‘(B) credit recovery and academic acceleration courses that lead to a regular high school diploma; ‘‘(C) activities that assist students in successfully completing post-secondary level instruction and examinations that are accepted for credit at institutions of higher education (including Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses), which may include reimbursing low-income students to cover part or all of the costs of fees for such examinations; ‘‘(D) components of a personalized learning approach, which may include high-quality academic tutoring..”

Part Two:  National Gifted Groups and the CCSS Machine/Global Education:

The Acceleration Institute:

According to their website, each State has some level of policies already in place for those needing ‘accelerated’ education. So, who or what is the Accelerated Institute? “The Acceleration Institute was first established under the name, “Institute for Research and Policy on Acceleration” in 2006″. It is housed at the University of Iowa. From 2006-2012, the John Templeton Foundation was the financial supporter. While I have not been able to see what groups have supported the Institute since then, I can tell you there is much support for it via the University of Iowa’s College of Education, and partner programs like the one it has with Steston University. Part of their work is to shape State policies in education. Here is a screen shot from their 2009 partnership created document expressly for the States to use as a checklist for the appropriate ways to create/implement gifted and talented programs.

What kinds of education are considered  for being ‘sped up and finished early’? Early entrance to preschool, early entrance to kindergarten, scoring well enough you can skip grades, early college programs (includes dual enrollment), and early graduation. Factor in that EVERY type of educational choice can utilize these programs and suddenly, EVERY student is capable of being sped up somehow. Warriors, why the rush for our young people? But wait, the Accelerate Inst. folks also have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) ‘Speeding Course’. (Look at the Career Cluster map, above, again find the STEM jobs. They ARE part of the CCSS Machine. They are a big part of personalized learning, too.STEM is also embedded in the ESSA.)

Warriors, it is important to note that Act, Inc. is also based in Iowa. We know that the Gates Foundation has given many grants to the Act, Inc. folks. Coincidence in the locations of the Accelerated Institute AND Act, Inc.?

The U.S. State Department’s Gifted Program:

Here is an excerpt from their website, “Within the cross-section of learning styles are children who display an extraordinary intellect or passion for learning. Gifted children do have special educational and social/emotional characteristics, and the responsibility for educational planning falls upon the individual family. Parents need to become advocates for their gifted children by ensuring that each child’s particular needs are met throughout his or her educational career. The personality and interests of each child should be weighed along with the intellectual or artistic potential.” The State Dept. is addressing their employees in this. Not the general population. However, look at the State Dept’s allowance for Gifted Education participation. It includes public education, private schools, at home study. It encompasses the same College Board, AP, and IB courses

National Society for the Gifted and Talented (NSGT):

For our final look at a national organization for  ‘high-ability learners’, the NSGT, is also sold out to the CCSS Machine. I will get to that in a moment. However, what does the organization do? “The National Society for the Gifted & Talented (NSGT) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization created to honor and nurture gifted and talented (G&T) children and youth. It is committed to acknowledging and supporting the needs of G&T children and youth by providing recognition of their significant academic and performance accomplishments and access to educational resources and advanced learning opportunities directly related to their interests and talent areas.” How do they do all this? P3s (public private partnerships)!NSGT collaborates closely with other G&T program providers, school districts, colleges and universities, community programs, and corporations, and we invite all stakeholders who are dedicated to fostering the development of these extraordinary young people..” What ages does the NSGT target? 5 years old to t 17 years old.

As far as how sold out  to the CCSS Machine NSGT is, consider a former sponsor is none other than ETS (Educational Testing Service) which has been aligning assessments to the CCSS/CCR/CTE education reform for awhile. Some States have even abandoned SBAC and PARCC assessments to use ETS’s assessments. It’s a lateral move, Warriors!

The NSGT also cites a global gifted education program housed in the University of Warwick (UK). One of the main benefits?! Global education/culture exchange. See below:

Again, Warriors, we are seeing the same pattern. US law (ESSA) used to support global goals. Consider, we started with gifted learners and have circled back to how it all connects to UNESCO. Between the two gifted articles, you see how in-depth the scourge is going. There is no quick read. We must get in the cracks and crevices of the CCSS Machine to know all we can to protect our nation. Thank you for bearing with me through the twists and turns of this information.

Ready or Not…

Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors, we have seen the purposed shift from “Common Core State Standards” to “College and Career Ready Standards”. Together, we have found the evidence which proves these two phrases do NOT mean 2 different sets of Standards. They ARE one in the same. Together, we have found some of the CCSS Machine member organizations responsible for spewing education reform rhetoric. We have listened, seen, and experienced their fallacy ridden efforts to deceive Americans.

Trouble is, the CCSS Machine is NOT slowing down now that ESSA is the law of the land. In fact, the CCSS Machine is busy this summer cranking more fallacies up and out. The Machine only ASSUMES we Warriors are taking the summer break time to refrain from our “War Against the Core”.

The Superintendents Association:

If you have followed my blog long, you know how much of a part of the CCSS Machine, the AASA (American Association of School Administrators) or as they are more well known: ‘The School Superintendents Association’, is. If you are new to the blog, suffice it to say that this pro ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) group is VERY ready, willing, and so far, able to deceive Americans when it comes to ‘College and Career Readiness’. (*Note: the ESSA champions that CCSS (Common Core State Standards) will be gone and that CCR (College and Career Readiness) will replace them.)

Just a couple of months ago they were busy hosting ESSA webinars, writing reports on how great ESSA is for education to be returned to the States. And now, a national campaign..My, my..

It is interesting to note that you will not see the AASA’s logo or information on most of the webpages included on the Campaign site.
In fact it wasn’t until I got to the ‘Resources’ page that I found them. Here is an excerpt, “Take advantage of our resources to engage your schools and your communities in the important national campaign – Redefining Ready!  Our campaign seeks to equip school administrators with the necessary resources to easily implement the new college and career readiness metrics at high schools across the nation.  We have also created sample resolutions to help education advocates and government leaders support our initiative. Email RedefiningReady@aasa.org if you have resources you would like to share! “ What follows this exciting news, are sample letters, legislation, and other items for promoting College and Career Readiness. According to the National Campaign, there are 3 types of Readiness for our students.
College ready (students are determined ‘college ready’ by how well they score on assessment benchmarks and/or academic benchmarks.), Career Ready (students are determined ‘career ready’ by indicating a career choice, meeting behavior benchmarks, and performing community service.), and finally, Life Ready (students are determined as ‘life ready’ by leaving high school with ‘grit’ and perseverance; a ‘growing’ mindset, and very little else. From the first paper (highlighted in red), comes this excerpt about the use of SLDS (student longitudinal data system), “The data for this study come from two sources: the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), conducted by WestEd (WestEd, 2014), and publicly available school-level data from the California Department of Education (CDE).”

Remember, Warriors, this national readiness campaign is supposed to be about education. See how the data mining is being used to redefine education?!

From the second highlighted red item, (which takes you to a Hechinger Report article, which has a study embedded (the study was conducted by a part of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services). The evidence used is based on how successful ONE (one of the nation’s largest) school district was. Here is the actual study:

College and Career Readiness, WIOA, and HEA:

Since the CCSS Machine is out to streamline education from birth to the grave, two OTHER laws are in existence to make sure this happens in ADDITION to the ESSA.
These are WIOA of 2014 and the HEA (last re-written in 2008, renewed for funding purposes in Dec. 2015, and being re-written by some of the SAME backers as the ESSA)

WIOA of 2014 stands for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 and cemented into law Career Pathways, Career Clusters, apprenticeships, and so much more into our States. Job development grants, workforce based education, and data mining. The idea was to create it so that those wanting to work would have a certain track to follow and the data mining would help education plan and teach to these tracks. The WQDI (Workforce Quality Data Initiative) was created to pull this off. WIOA is from the U.S. Dept. of Labor. It covers the workforce..all ages, all educational choices.

HEA of 2008 stands for Higher Education Act. It,too has tons of data mining built in (yes, even then). It also had the foundation laid for educational alignment which we now see as work of the CCSS Machine. When ESSA was passed and the bragging speeches began in D.C. it was spoken as both a promise and a warning..that the HEA was next; that HEA was the final piece in the legislation which would complete the bridge from education to work.

I have covered post-secondary Common Core, Career Tech Education, or any of the other names the agenda uses, extensively. If you wish to have the evidence for WIOA, HEA, the WQDI, or how the 2017 Federal Education Budget Requests play into all this, please let me know.

Envisioning You

A few days ago, I shared with you all kinds of ‘ACTions’ being taken in regards to shifting American education to national credentials with international data collection. At the close of that article, I also shared we would take a closer look at the Envision entity (that is the international data collector).

If you are a bit confused, do not fret. Quite simply, Act, Inc. has several workforce/competency education based assessments that are becoming increasingly prevalent in not only education (some states as young as 3rd grade), but employment centers as well. The goal? Aligning your skills with a path of work. Where Envision comes in is helping match people with jobs all the while collecting, sorting, and sharing their data across the globe. Why? Global workforce. Remember, the Envision portion is supposedly so you can become a better you.

So, who owns Envision EMI? Gryphon Investments. Why would we need to know about Gryphon Investments? The CCSS Machine is BIG, and is loaded with money. Follow the money, find the agenda, and locate the participants. Gryphon is a private equity company. Many private equity companies, as well as, venture capitalism companies are already hard at work helping the CCSS Machine with education reform, right under our noses. They also know data collection/sharing/selling is a hot commodity.

Also for the record, Envision has a troubled past when it comes to education and politics. What do I mean? Their involvement in a lawsuit surrounding one of their programs, a Presidential election, and promises made which were broken. Notice the range of ages involved, notice the events. Now that you have a good idea of the KIND of entity Envision is, let’s see how they are shaping our students. Remember, according to the website, the ‘fun learning’ begins in 3rd grade. Through programs with the NYLF alphabet soup-like title in front of the descriptions.

NYLF stands for ‘National Youth Leadership Forum’. See the screen shot below and notice the NYLF topic for STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
(*Note: If you haven’t heard me before state how STEM is the motivation behind Common Core, consider this, STEM jobs are being touted as a huge economic factor in America AND across the globe! If you haven’t seen the evidence of how I came to this conclusion, ask me. I would love to place the evidence in your hands.)

The NYLF topics in Middle School add to the STEM and include politics. Dig deeper, and you will find CCSS Machine members/groups guiding the discussions surrounding politics, as well as providing the classroom resources.

Oh my, Warriors, one of them is Harvard University! How have I proven Harvard is in bed with the educational reform and the CCSS Machine? In one word: Pearson. In a few more words, their joint project called Pathways to Prosperity, which helped birth the global career pathways and tracks we now have.

Warriors, do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with addressing human needs. We have been doing so since time began.

However, as I have stated before, when EVERYTHING is run through the CCSS Machine of ‘global this’, ‘global that’ and for the ‘collective good’, it is enough to make you scream!

Why? Collective thinking kills individualism. Global everything keeps the focus away from your immediate environment and forces you to not only look outward, but take it all in as acceptable. Consider how the brain develops. Not everyone can understand ‘collective globalism’ at an early age OR if their development inhibits their understanding. As the brain develops we DO understand immediate environment, we are geared to create close relationships.

Common Core, College/Career Readiness, Career Pathways, STEM, STEM Pathways don’t work because they go against the natural flow of not only our thinking, but our way of living. As a result ANYTHING connected will alter our lives as well.
The Bottom Lines:

1) The CCSS Machine agenda ruins not only education, but quality of life.
2) When your national and local levels of government knowingly (or unknowingly) endorse, support, or instigate the efforts of the CCSS Machine, they might as well as find themselves sitting in a corner of their offices!
3) Instead of each person being the best they can be, the true CCSS Machine vision is for collective good where personal best cannot exist.

Warrior Mindsets:
3) Think ‘Martin Luther’ and grasp his ire at the church which inspired him to find 95 truthful facts and nail them to the door.
4) Think the ‘Apostle Paul’ and his thorn in his side. He didn’t let the pain it caused stop him. Embrace that spirit of ‘never quit’.
5) Think ‘Joan of Arc’ and her willingness to die for what was true, good, and right. Re-enact her fierce stare, her defiant stance, and her strong voice.

So, which Warrior will you become? What mindset will you adopt? What bottom line will you erase as a result? We, those opposed to the CCSS Machine, are their thorns; their truthful witnesses; their worst nightmare. We, those opposed, will NOT give up, never surrender our freedoms. We, those opposed, outnumber them. Coincidence? Hardly.
