“Spicing” Education Up

My fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors, here’s the latest agenda filled system behind AP World History.

26999416-student-teacher-headmaster-school-children-stick-figure-pictogram-icon-clipart
Warriors, you know I’ve held nothing back in exposing that ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is impacting (in real time) EVERY school choice.

It absorbed AP (Advanced Placement) courses into the mandates for aligned education. Also, IB  (International Baccalaureate) Schools.
You also know that IB Schools are UN (United Nations) breeding grounds for globalism and collectivism. (*Note: early in my blogging days, this resource filled article.)

ibstudent
To be a global student I must also be altruistic. IB Schools have a ‘diploma program’ where you must complete 1 year of service or you do not receive your diploma.

At one time AP courses were truly ‘advanced’. At one time the credits and scores your student earned actually meant ‘honor’.

However, these courses and tests went the way of the wind when they were aligned to the CCSS Machine.

quorapic

Now, AP Courses are just as empty as the rest of the CCSS aligned (or whatever label your State has re-branded CC to) ‘curriculum’ and assessments.

I know you’ve seen the decrease in quality. I’ve watched it over the past few years. Especially in private and homeschooling. I’ve also seen how the public schools have used AP as a sort of ‘dividing line’ among students. Truly sickening.

Where AP and the UN Meet:

Warriors, simply put, World History.

In this teacher led instructional video, she openly tells the students that she’ll be away for 2 days attending the UN Model Club Conference. She’s leaving them an assignment to watch a documentary and then complete the SPICE chart. What’s a SPICE chart?
Look below:

spicechartvideo

(Source)

Before I share what each letter stands for, look at the simplicity of this chart:

simplechart
Why all the detail and fuss for such a simple chart? Why not let kids take notes in a way which makes sense to them? If these students are truly ‘advanced’ shouldn’t they be able to figure this out for themselves? And finally, why let the computer guide them?

The Meaning Behind SPICE, Agenda Dressed In Education:

“S” stands for ‘Social’ and includes class structures, social mobility and barriers, gender roles and relations, family and kinship, racial and ethnic constructs, urbanization, and, freedoms/rights.
“P” stands for ‘Political’ and includes government and leadership, nations and nationalism, revolts and revolutions, conflict and war, legal and court systems, regional/trans-regional/global, and, structure/organization.
“I” stands for ‘Interacting with the Environment’ and covers demography, disease, migration, natural resources, settlement patterns, impact of natural barriers, flora/fauna/climate, and technology.
“C” stands for ‘Cultural’ and covers religions/beliefs/ideologies, language, writing, art/architecture, clothing/food/music, education, science/technology, and nationalism.
“E” stands for ‘Economic’ and entails material wealth, production (agricultural and pastoral), distribution (trade and commerce), labor systems, industrialization, wealth distribution, and banks/currency.

However, Warriors, look at how this OH teacher’s blog highlights each letter of SPICE.

themeone

Do you see what he is choosing to put at the top of the list for “Social”? The UN also has a ‘gender agenda’, its SDG #5. (*Note: SDG is short for Sustainable Development Goal)

To see how the CCSS Machine uses gender as a ‘change agent’, read this.

themetwo

Warriors, the UN actively recognizes America as a ‘nation-state’ or as a ‘member-state’.

theme3

Many of the UN’s SDGs center on environment. To the point environment is more important than people.

4theme
Notice how this theme centers on a dominant belief system? Notice how science and technology are also present? You can trace the science/technology all through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and, Math) and the SDGs. STEM is a tool created by the UN to implement the SDGs.

(Source for above pictures)

This next SPICE video from You Tube reveals a broader agenda in AP World History.
Flip Learning (where all individual school work is completed at home and all collaborative work is completed in class) is what this one teacher is saying has been proven to be more effective than traditional school work.  Warriors, this is all but eliminating ALL individual work in class.

While that’s a wake-up call on its own, it’s the teacher’s leading the students on how to decipher a picture they are seeing which is even more awakening. Why? She coaches them by telling them when we don’t know things we can be uncomfortable about them. However, by using this SPICE system, as they know more the students will feel more comfortable about the world around them. This teacher also guides the students thinking by telling them nothing happens in a vacuum/that everything interconnects.

Warriors, just how does the AP coursework intersect with Model UN Clubs? From 2014, this NC high school used the two to from a ‘joint crisis committee’.
Here’s another example of how AP is steering kids to see the UN’s global continuity and tie it to which of our U.S. Presidents was most supportive. Compare what you read here with the SPICE information. Do you see the connections?!

In 2016, I showed you how the UN Model Clubs were impacting homeschoolers (as do AP courses). Earlier this year, I showed you more about the march for global citizens and gave you more information on education as that ‘change agent’.

While McGraw-Hill isn’t the copyright owner of AP, it has an entire catalog of AP ‘electives’. World History is among them. You’ll see how the current AP courses align to C3 (College/Career/Civic Life) as well as NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards). The UN can be found in C3 and NGSS.

AP Summer Time:

For students during the summer, the CCSS aligned AP courses keep going! This AP Summer Institute at one NC university campus this year is just an example. See below:

apsummer

To see how the State of NC gives these AP Summer scholarships, go here. Note that when you scroll all the way down the screen you’ll find out the partner for these scholarships is the NC State Board of Education. So, in other words, the AP summer institutes are taxpayer funded!

Now, Warriors, I know your State will have AP courses as well, so be looking for those summer camps! If you want to see how AP students are data raped to provide your State with ‘information’ that can be ‘celebrated’, go here.
Let’s not forget, The National Review showed the leftist approach from College Board to support the UN’s activities back in 2014.

collectivework

Closing:

Warriors, as far as who created the SPICE chart system, it doesn’t really matter. What does, is that the AP courses and assessments have increased their amount of collectivism.
This is infecting ALL education choices. Do we want to be a free America or a controlled one?

(*Personal Note: I’ll be traveling to CT to appear at a Parents Rights Rally there. If you can make it to Hartford, we need you! I’ll use my @commoncorediva (Twitter) account to update you all.)

Not For The Faint Hearted

Author’s note: This article contains unpleasant material. Please remember, the evidence and research are provided for you to decide.  We must be prepared and informed Warriors, not reactive Warriors

Oh, my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors..We have seen so many awful things happen to education in the past few years together. We’ve seen an increase in the ‘workforce training’ being passed off as ‘academic prowess’.

We’ve seen shifts in how the attitudes, values, beliefs, and, thinking have become so twisted we may not recognize who our children are. Because ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) codified CCSS, we will continue to see unwelcome changes in our nation.

However, what’s changing our children right before our eyes?

Globalism, collectivism, Communism, Socialism, and…………

SATANISM

Because Globalism and all the other ‘isms’ are tied to Common Core (remember, the roots of CC are in the United Nations, which has  been traced to demonic activities and beliefs.)

Part of the ‘sales pitch’ surrounding all this? “Fun”. One of my previously published articles showed you how the ‘fun’ was a guise devised by Robert Muller to steer our children to workforce based education for a socialist benefit. While the article was pointing out how homeschoolers are being pulled into this.

Back in 2014, I wrote an article about Evil having no place in education. It shows you the awful connections between Bill Gates, UNESCO, the World Core Curriculum and the Lucifer Publishing Company.

However, it’s what follows, which is the truly unpleasant (downright disturbing) educational activities you need to know about.

ASSCs:

Warriors, that’s the abbreviation for the After School Satan Clubs in America. Maybe you remember the news from 2016 about the school district in GA which was being asked to start up an ASSC.

According to CBN’s (Christian Broadcasting Network) website, Clubs (as of 8/17) are in Los Angeles, Pensacola, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Tacoma and Springfield, Missouri. Below, in the screen shot, notice the ‘fun’ pictures used to draw our children’s attention to the ASSCs:

ASSCpic
(*Note, as of this writing, Satanic Temples are in TX, GA, NY, OR, CA, LA, FL, AZ, MA, CO, MI, and WA. Coming soon: MO and OK. Where there’s a Temple, the ASSCs will also be. According to all the sources, ASSCs are targeting similar Christian Clubs. I did not find any mention of any other faith based clubs being targeted.)

Warriors, according to all the information I found, these Clubs are available to all school choices, not simply public school children.  If the two smaller versions (above) don’t look ‘fun’ enough, look at the way the Satanic Temple ASSC’s page on their website has depicted the ‘mascot’:

hipdevil
Warriors, if you choose to investigate the website, notice that in the cartoon, the ‘hip devil’ is holding what resembles a candy cane.
I’ve provided you a look (below) at the permission slip with some added emphasis:

permitsevil

Why the red and orange circles? The CCSS Machine has gone to great pains to sell the nation on how ‘great’ the critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and character building are with the aligned curriculum and resources. These resources include after-school programs.

The 4Cs (collectivism, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity) are the anchors of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math). The 4Cs are the anchors of Common Core, Career and College Readiness, Next Gen Science, Career Tech Education, STEM, C3 (College, Career, and Civic Life) and whatever else CC’s been re-branded as (ie: “Future Ready”)

The 4Cs, College/Career Readiness, STEM, and all which connects them are embedded in ESSA, too! More globalism ties in ESSA include the “UDL”, Universal Design for Learning”, Universal Preschool, and, massive data mining to track students from cradle to grave.

You may also notice there’s a “Protect Children” campaign that also is a Satanic Temple project. It’s against corporal punishment. Below, is a picture of the letter they have available to send to your School Board against any type of corporal punishment, including isolation rooms:

protectchild
(*Note: from the “Protect Children” page, this disclaimer,Please note that this tactic has not yet been tested in court. If a student who registers is subsequently harmed and we launch a legal challenge, the State would need to argue that their right to abuse children supersedes the religious rights of students.”)

Warriors, the video contained in this undated  Newsletter is downright chilling. Not because of the images, the background ‘song’.

According to the Forbes article about the ASSCs, the writer also thought the video was chilling. Temper that with this article from the Federalist. It carries the tone of  ‘let’s step back a minute’. While I think what the author is sharing is worth listening to, I know, as a Mom, there is MUCH to be watchful of anytime Satan enters the picture.

Warrior Concerns:

Why did I include the video, if it’s so creepy?

1) We need to know! How can we protect our students from the CCSS Machine if we do not know all the ways IT seeks to destroy our children? After all, so much is available to them on-line. Have they seen this video?! We must know! It must be discussed.

2) Warriors, we need to understand with Satanism comes mind control and mental health concerns (The Temple has a group known as the Grey Faction).

3) I am not stating mental activities will be carried on during an ASSC gathering. But look at the ‘art’ pages below in the pictures. Strong mental images.

4) Knowing how damaging the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) is and how much of it is codified in ESSA, we should be VERY active in finding out what’s in our schools. With ESSA’s mandate for MORE after school, community wide programs, we MUST be very diligent in finding out what groups like the ASSCs are out there, how will they have access to your students? With the recent new appropriations from Congress which increase the amount of mental health ‘activities’ in/outside schools, we must DEMAND we be informed before any actions are taken!

For example, look below:

ASSCcolor
Warriors, let’s remember, the Clubs have access to young minds. Once they ‘see’ something like this (below), how will they ‘un-see’ it?? In 2014, I showed you a similar issue with a children’s book of ABCs.

asscmindimage

Warriors, this is the flag of the Satanic Temple from Facebook. Remember, they are the same group running the After School Satan Clubs:

ASSCflag
A Last Concern, based on Evidence:

Warriors, I know this is quite a bit to process. Believe me, I know. However, remember when I shared near the beginning that the CCSS Machine is rooted in the UN? So much of what’s above is also in the CCSS Machine. Is Satanism present in the United Nations?

From 2009, this article reveals the symbolism found in the New York headquarters. From 2016, this article from the New American Magazine ties the UN, Satanism, and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) together. The ‘common’ bond? It appears to be the combined efforts of Robert Muller and Alice Bailey (a known occultist).

Closing:

Warriors, due to the season we are in, so close to Halloween, keep a watchful eye for anything which seems to harm your family (pets included). We know the CCSS Machine is full of tricks. We know ESSA is no gift of greatness for our education system. We understand the dangers of any ideas which do not fit our family belief system, MUST not be indoctrinated.

Keeping It Local

Warriors Against the Core, we all know how great it can be to have things available to us without having to go too far from home. BUT, what happens when all the ‘local’ education becomes anything but local?!

We enjoy not having to travel  so far to recieve an education. We need to keep in mind it’s set up for us by those who live far away. We WILL have to adhere to its constraints..like it or not.

It should go without saying that the constraints will include Common Core, in one of its many forms.

The CC Forms Are ‘A-plenty’, But Hardly Original Or Local:

As we know, CC is only one form of the modern education reform’s educratic buzz word ‘game’. There’s the more adult form of CC: CTE (Career Tech Education); then, there’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math); there’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math); NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards); NGSS (Next Gen Social Studies); C3 (College, Career, Civics Life); CPs (Career Pathways); AAI (American Apprencticeship Iniatiative); CCR (College/Career Readiness), and, probably others we’ve yet to hear about.

The goal, regardless of the name, is the same: Workforce based education for 21st competency based learners.

As we know, none..not ONE of the above alphabet soup names is locally written, created, inspired, or otherwise fashioned together after. Every bit of the programs above is in the CCSS Machine from a top-down force. I do not mean a D.C. to your backyard force, I mean a globally driven force.

So, it should be NO surprise that when we wake up in our homes across America to face another day, we find the CCSS Machine has made one more stride toward us. Today, it may target your little ones; tomorrow, it might be the adults who are targeted; the following day could see our learners who are gifted tapped for the Machine. We may find that our special needs students will also be ‘blessed’ with educratic reform.

The point of the CCSS Machine is that NO age group will escape the top-down education reform.

The Proof Is Right Before Us:

Maybe you’ve seen, Warriors, the ads on social media for education grants awarded to those citizens in America over 50. That’s right, those over the “Golden Age” can get ‘free money’ to go back to school. But, what real LOCAL influence will these people receive if and when they go back to the classroom?

freeseniors

In the picture above, the article shared that across America, certain community colleges waived tutition for students over 60.

That’s great, right? I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff?! But, as I’ve shared with you time and time again, our community colleges are being used as workforce education mills for the CCSS Machine.

If I’m one of these lovely elderly citizens, I may not know that by going to college for ‘free’ is laced with workforce agenda. If you know someone like this, share my  August 2016 article detailing the CCSS Machine’s power grab for citizens ages 50 and over.

Wait, though…what if I’m a student under age 50?! What waits for me at my local community college or for-profit school?

The CCSS Machine Grinds On:

Warriors, you know we’ve seen and heard plenty to prove CCSS is after the zero to post-secondary set. Somehow, that’s EASY to talk about. But, no matter how much evidence surfaces for those above a college graduate level (say, around 30 years and older), the conversations become hushed, or worse, non-existent.

It’s also quite okay to say CCSS is infiltrating public education. Try using that mindset backed by evidence for all the other school choices and you can be laughed at, scoffed at, or, my favorite; wearing your tin foil hat a bit too tight.

Since we know the CCSS Machine is linked to the UN’s Master Agenda, we should be ready admit that NO AGE limit is to be free and safe from the reform happening.

So, why was education chosen as the ‘silver bullet’ of the change agents?
Education is an on-going process. It is open to any age limit. Learning, without the CCSS Machine, is a natural progression.

Ah, The Aligned and Defined:

Community Colleges, as I’ve proven before are the ideal location for the CCSS Machine to grasp anyone who’s not been its grasp before. How? Think about it, home educated students often choose (or have chosen for them) their local community colleges for dual enrollment, or, as a stop gap between their K-12 education and any further education. Community colleges welcome those who are between careers, needing to take a course of two for their job, rehabilitate a person who’s been in prison, or, anyone going back to school after some absence.

Community Colleges are also beacons in their respective towns. Local taxpayer funds go into these schools..but so do federal dollars. Warriors, that, as we know, is the downfall of every single State in the United States. The local control, the local say completely gets muted when federal funds are involved. So, what’s the latest anti CCSS News as far as community colleges go? How will this news impact any age person who attends a community college?

The Digital “Do-Gooders”:

Warriors, if you’ve not clicked on any of the embedded links so far, you won’t know how ESSA, WIOA, and HEA (Every Student Succeeds Act/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Higher Education Act) are woven into every age group.

That stated, I am positive, you, as an  anti CCSS Warrior, do know about the ‘digital do-gooders’. You know them by their name or their sales pitches. These are the companies which act ‘educational’ with their computer, devices, software, and ‘personalized learning’.

These are the companies which have lobbyists championing the ‘ditch the traditional textbook and let’s get everyone on-line’ sales pitch. All the while, the legislators stare googly-eyed at the prospect of how going 100% digital will make them an ‘education rock star’ with the voters back home. If you believe the hype, there’s so much digital goodness to be had in education, it’s a wonder the entire nation isn’t running over with saints!

One such company, Vital Source has created a wonderful (and I do mean it sarcastically) guide of digital ‘do-goodness’ for EdSurge (a sold out CCSS Machine member organization).

vitalsurge
This short video will show you how all the digital goodness (in this case the data mining) will work together to help your school.

If you are an educator, this video will show you have to ‘leverage’ data for better ‘personalized learning’.

For those who are in the school leadership positions, Google’s using the digital opportunities to include school administrators in the data sharing of what goes on in the classroom. See this article.

Closing:

Warriors, make no mistake, the CCSS Machine has proven time and time again, that by every available means, it is out to assimilate everyone in its path. The question is, how willing are we to stop this?

Credentialed Transcripts?

cementblock
The modern education transformation is treating our students like blocks of ‘stackable credentials’, not humans!

‘Tech Thursday’ is the day I usually focus on the overreach in education to the post-secondary level. Today is no exception. If you have followed me for a while, you know I have consistently laid out the evidence and resources so you can follow the CCSS Machine’s march from high school and beyond.

So what can I share with you today?  A look inside the transcripts-turned-credentials for our students under the guise of quality education.

Parchment Transcript Services (PTS):

I first heard of PTS, from a dedicated anti CCSS Warrior who is doing much work to protect student data. We know how much is collected, shared, sold, and used against our students, so naturally finding a school (or State) which uses PTS is worth knowing more about.
The website: http://www.parchment.com/
The advertised mission: “Parchment’s mission is to turn credentials into opportunities.  We help learners, educators, associations and employers securely send and receive education credentials online, in simple and insightful ways.”
The zippy 2 minute sales pitch:

Did you notice how hidden in plain sight the data mining is? Did you see who shares it, has access to it? Did you notice the use of the fallacy tactic known as ‘Bandwagon’? (bandwagon is where you are enticing to do what everyone else is doing so you don’t miss out) Something tells me there is much more to find out about!

The Folks in Charge:

CEO, Dr. Matthew Pittinsky is certainly connected to the CCSS Machine. How can I know this before we even go any further? Two clues: Blackboard and ASU (AZ State University) I have written before about both. To see what else he is doing connected to the transformation of post-secondary education: http://www.parchment.com/matthew-pittinsky/
(*Note: his short video reveals how he feels about data mining.)

Other Leading members include former members of other CCSS Machine member organizations, like Learn.com; there are other former Blackboard personnel; non-profit education advocacy; former military; Honeywell; ISU (Iowa State University); and global education IT (information technology.)
To find out more: http://www.parchment.com/leadership/ (*Note: be sure to check out the Board of Directors. You will find even more ties to the CCSS Machine.)

Parchment Partners:

Since Parchment deals with student data, we need to know who they work with in the sharing. Two of the biggest CCSS Machine members which jumped of the page? Herff Jones and Pearson Power School! There are others, as well. See all the partners:
http://www.parchment.com/partners-and-associations/

While Pearson’s membership in the CCSS Machine is known extensively, I will share with you how Herff Jones is also a member.

Most folks think of high school class rings and high school yearbooks when they hear Herff Jones, but the company is more embedded than you know. See:
http://www.socialstudies.com/pdf/CommonCore_SS.pdf (look for footnotes #5, 8, and 9)
Related is my in-depth look at the C3 Social Studies where you will see CCSS, post-secondary CCSS, and global agenda intersect:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/rtm-sunday-common-core-and-civics/

From the  Herff Jones yearbook information, this excerpt, “It’s easy to see how yearbook aligns with the Common Core’s emphasis on research, reflection and revision, and the four C’s touted by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity) are naturally a part of the yearbook process. Talk about cross-disciplinary learning!”

How the Service Works on a Local Level:

From the parent of a Senior (Class of 2016), this personal account. “Seniors are required to state what college or university they will attend. All final transcripts will be sent electronically through Parchment. You must sign up via their website before graduation. After graduation, you will be charged $8.50 per transcript. My student must contact their Career Center Counselor/Office for more information.” This parent goes on to share that the Parchment presence in school is a school district promoted decision. Supposedly the only data collected isn’t too personal, but we Warriors know ANY data about our students is up for grabs! Parchment’s service also has you answer on-line questions for specific schools you might want to attend to see IF you can become a qualified applicant.

What I found out about the transcripts is that each is given a unique code (DID or Document Identity Number). For students to access or verify if their information has been transmitted or received, they must use that DID. Hmm.. think UID (Unique Identifier Number) currently used for all those assessments your students think. We have evidence how ‘secure’ those are! If you would like to know, Parchment stands by the FERPA policies (again, we know how FERPA was weakened to allow MORE data mining!) Check out all their related topics:
 http://support.parchment.com/link/portal/30029/30032/ArticleFolder/171/FERPA-security-privacy

Parchment’s latest Press Release shares more about the data collection/sharing. This particular Release details the State of Georgia’s partnership:
Parchment, a leading academic credential management service, works with more than 65 high schools and 72 college admissions offices across Georgia to create a robust network that helps to simplify the college application process for Georgia learners. By delivering and processing electronic credentials with Parchment, member schools are breaking down barriers in the college access process. For more than a decade, Parchment has worked with high schools and colleges across the United States to aid in the application process, making academic credentials, like high school transcripts, digital, often resulting in more timely admissions decisions. Schools in Georgia have already begun to improve efficiencies, provide transparency to learners and reduce overall costs by partnering with Parchment, following the success many other states have long used to their advantage. In 2015, Georgia high schools relied on Parchment to exchange more than 41,000 digital credentials, an increase of 48 percent over the previous year. Parchment has enabled our students and parents to expedite the college application process by sending transcripts electronically to almost any school across the nation,” said Tessa Barbazon, Coordinator, Office of School Counseling with Fulton County School District. “In addition, the tracking tools available to students through Parchment fill a gap in communication that can exist when less advanced services are utilized.” The Fulton County School District is comprised of 18 high schools with 94,000 students.” (see the entire Press Release: http://www.parchment.com/press-releases/parchment-provides-georgia-students-with-improved-college-access/)

To read Parchment’s Privacy Policy, see: http://www.parchment.com/privacy-policy/
While all looks secure, there are a few things to note:
1) Parchment sends you information they think you want based on how you answered those qualifying questions.
2) Data is shared with ANY partner or group designated as an Academic Institution. While this may look like it means schools, remember the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) and the current version of the HEA (Higher Education Act) include the academic institutions in a much broader context. (*Note: the current HEA even embeds the use of Digital Promise as the  data collection method on all students. Also, the ESSA has Digital Promise funding INCREASED embedded in the language.)
3) Note the Asset Transfer clause. Even your parents information about finances is up for all to see (or at least whomever Parchment deems worthy of knowing.)

 Closing:

I thank the parent who shared their story. Our anti CCSS War Against the Core, is made so much stronger when these brave men and women speak up. I hope this information has caused you to question much when it comes to the transformed high school to post-secondary school state we find ourselves in. While we must champion our students data (and ours as well). we must investigate every company we can. Since it appears the school districts are promoting and choosing this, make sure you let your district know your concerns!

Monday Musings: Honor Among CCSS Warriors

Even if you aren't a homeschooling family, PH's consistent researched articles are vital to fighting education reform.
Even if you aren’t a homeschooling family, PH’s consistent researched articles are vital to fighting education reform.

Greetings anti CCSS warriors! The beginning of a new work week. The beginning of a new day to war against the CCSS Machine. I’ve a short story for you today…one that’s full of honor among those of us who choose to fight for our students of ALL ages in ALL educational choices every single day.

The 1990s to 2009:

I’m not sure when or why you joined the anti CCSS movement, but here’s how I got involved. First off, my family had chosen (way back in the early 90s) to educate our children at home. Being that ‘out of the normal box’ family has worked well for us through the years. Knowing we were ‘different’ kept us on our toes, so to speak. We faced the ire of the local school boards when we learned they didn’t like our choice because it deprived them of per student funding. We stood firm in our decision. We’ve faced the ridicule of those who chose the more traditional route in educating their children. We stood firm in not ridiculing them.

When a new job created the need to move to NC from FL, we did so while still choosing to home educate. We moved to a city where we knew no one except each other and our dog. It was that need to find others like us which got us involved in leadership possibilities in our unique community of learners, teachers, and families. I had to learn the new laws of what constituted home education. Years passed, all was well…or so I thought. Yes, there’d been pushes here and there from national groups and local ones to further regulate home education, but every move failed.

Then one day, I find myself at a meeting full of educational leaders. Different national magazines were being shared. One of those was “Practical Homeschooling” magazine. In the particular issue from mid 2009 I was alerted to big trouble looming in the form of a push for national standards. Then I picked  up a second issue of the same magazine and found an article about the globalizing of American education. Between the two articles (full of researched and credible information), I was spurred on. After reading what I had, I knew in my heart there was NO WAY I could sit by and watch our freedoms be stripped away. By ‘our freedoms’ I mean everyone’s right to choose how to educate their children. I’ve never been in the conversion business for there’s only ONE WAY to teach and learn.

From 2009 to Now:

Since digging into fighting national overreach into education (which is NOT in the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, or any other foundational document for our country), I’ve met some amazing people, been privileged to speak out (and to be sought out to speak up), had many wise folks to learn even more from, and to be asked repeatedly for information, advice, and what my research has exposed. I can happily share that MOST everyone I meet, and everywhere I get to travel in this “War against the Core”, more and more people who desire honor (and are honorable) are standing up! “Practical Homeschooling” spurred me on, I’ve been able to ignite that spark in others; they will carry on to excite even more people.

Our work is FAR from over, our journey is long..it is exacting. But, as has been written ‘when courage is in our hearts it WILL appear on the battlefield’. I would encourage you, no matter WHAT educational choice you have made for your families, look at ALL the available researched and credible publications you can find. While we know CCSS overreach spans day care to career, we are learning more daily on HOW that overreach is impacting ALL the educational choices. We’ve learned it’s in STEM, STEM to STEaM, CTE, CCR, Career Pathways (includes Career Clusters and Workforce training), NGSS, C3 Social Studies, our extra curricular clubs, our community wide educational events; we’ve learned how our entire communities are being aligned via all types of ‘feel good, do good for the town’ projects, initiatives, and legislation. We’ve seen our federal Congress bend over backwards to create bills which ‘rubber stamp’ anything connected to the CCSS Machine. We’ve watched as our states have forgotten (or just been lazy in exercising) their sovereignty in protecting the citizens against federal overreach…especially in education!

My point in all this? Continue to stand firm; to fight, not because you want to, rather because you have to; be honorable in your battle, remember whom you represent; seek out those who consistently provided facts, evidence, and aren’t seeking glory, these are the folks most likely to be the ones you’d want standing with you as we proceed.
