Author’s Correction on “Bamboozled”, yesterday’s article. In that article and pertaining to ESSA, page 151, I did not clearly state my concerns for teachers and students. I do ask that you forgive that error. My point to the language there is that under the present SEL training teachers are receiving, it is an over-burdening addition to their already  ‘full plate’ of responsibilities. Teachers should be able to note and help point out any learning disability.
At the CCSS Machine’s beckoning, however, it seems that teachers will be asked to do much more than this. As Warriors, this is an area we must watch. Teachers and students need protecting from the harm ESSA is dishing out.

Warriors Against the Core, in the past 2 articles I’ve gone back over ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act). As you know, I combed through it when it was first introduced, as well as re-visited it quite a bit after it became Law. So why now? Since implementation is in swing, we need to see what’s happened. We need to see how much of a lie ‘giving the States back control of education’ is being carried out on a daily basis.

My most recent ESSA reviews have covered the ‘at-risk’, or, troubled youth. Then, special needs. Today’s review? Native Americans. If you missed when I first uncovered the CCSS Machine grasp on the original citizens of our nation, you can go back and read it now.

In that article you’ll see how 21st Century Community Learning Centers, school reform, and much more from ESSA and other federally contrived legislative acts.

ESSA: No Feather of Greatness:

Of all the student subgroups (as ESSA likes to refer to our children by), the Native Americans (including the HI and AK tribal nations) are mentioned a whopping 244 times! The first 16 are in the Table of Contents. Warriors, I do not know about you, but by the sheer number of times our fellow citizens are brought up, I  have to ponder WHY so much attention is being directed their way.

No American group deserves to be more left alone by the federal government.

The ESSA Strings:

With over 200 references to the Indians of America in ESSA, I’m only going to point out the worst ‘strings’ (aka: mandates).
The Sections pertaining to Native American education are: 4505 (Family Engagement in Education); 6001 and 6101 are the ‘conforming amendments’; 6121 (Improving Educational Opportunities); 6141 (National Advisory Council on Indian Education); 7004 (Impact Aid); 8004 and 8103 (BIE schools, see the article embedded in ‘now’, above), and 8535 (must consult with tribal organizations).

Page 19 of ESSA’s law mandates Native Americans must be included in State Plans.
Page 44 shows how the SEAs (State Education Agencies) and LEAs (Local Education Agencies) having control over Native American education.
Below is Page 51:

essa51
On Page 102, what appears to be a simple word being replaced is a ‘front’ for a much deeper agenda:

essa102
Following on Page 103:

essa103
Over on Page 125, you’ll see a ‘blast from the past’ tie Native American education to more government strings:

essa125
Notice the ‘national’ levels of control or funding on Page 143 and what it is to be used for:

essa143

On Page 219, we’ll find family engagement centers:

ess219
Page 222, full service community schools, especially in low-income areas and Native American tribal groups. Not sure what that means? ESSA’s definition: “FULL-SERVICE COMMUNITY SCHOOL.—means a public elementary school or secondary school that— ‘‘(A) participates in a community-based effort to coordinate and integrate educational, developmental, family, health, and other comprehensive services through community-based organizations and public and private partnerships; ‘‘(B) provides access to such services in school to students, families, and the community, such as access during the school year (including before- and after-school hours and weekends), as well as during the summer.”

Warriors, there is plenty more like all this above,  in store for all of us.

Injurious Insults:

From a fellow Warrior in WY, shared with me the day my “Captive Education” article was published, that, U.S. Sec. of Education DeVos visited an Indian Reservation’s school to help jump start her “Rethink Education” tour. It’s quite interesting (and not to mention, telling) that ‘her’ choice of wording smacked of the recently broadcast Project XQ: Super School Live! Where the entire CCSS Machine propaganda fest was geared on ‘rethinking/reforming’ high schools.
It’s ironic that the school on the Reservation didn’t have DeVos’s visit in their school news or on their calendar.

NIEA (National Indian Education Association) is partners with the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers), so any question of what side of the CCSS Machine they are on, is an automatic ‘supportive’. NIEA’s website.

The 2016 (114th Congressional Session) RAISE Act (Reforming American Indian Standards of Education) announcement can be found on the NIEA website. You’ll want to see the Report which accompanied the RAISE Act. In it you’ll see how many students are involved in Native American education, how much money is involved, and also, the ‘federal education’ shift.

Current Congressional bills to reform Native American education are:
HR 1528 (Native American Indian Education Act) will amend the HEA (Higher Education Act) to continue federal mandates for Indians in post-secondary education.
S 660 (Native American Indian Education Act) this is the Senate’s version of the HR 1528.
S 934 (Johnson-O’Malley Act) would data mine students for the sake of ‘modernization’.
S 1294 (Native American Education Opportunity Act) will give education savings accounts to the Native American students.
HR 2727 (NEST Act or Native Educator Support and Training Act) amends the HEA and will give scholarships for Native Americans to become teachers and school administrators.
S 458 (NEST Act) this is the Senate version of HR 2727.

Warriors, there are more like these, as well. You can find any federal legislative bill by using the website: https://www.congress.gov

State Levels of Control?

Since my fellow Warrior is from WY, I thought we should end with looking at what is happening to our Native Americans at the State level. We see the alignment and confinement from the federal level, above. Below is a blog entry I thought you, Warriors, would ‘love’:
WYed
If you’d like to read that Dec. 2014 article, here it is.

WY has a Tribal Children’s Triad. This is a partnership between communities and schools. ESSA ‘loves’ these kinds of relationships. In fact, in some of my earlier ESSA research, I shared with you how entire communities will be assessed/measured/tested for alignment to ensure ‘student success’.

According to WY’s ESSA State Plan, a mere $6.6 million will be used for 21st Century Community Learning Centers, which the ESSA law mandated. Page 51 of the Plan, is where you’ll find this figure.

Closing:

Warriors, I trust you will find this information helpful wherever you live in America.
One last thought I’d like to leave you with. You’ll see it below. Share it if you like.

Way Out Yonder…

Recently, Warriors Against Fed Ed, I was looking through my State’s Legislative website. I thought I’d seen enough of the proposed bills linking NC (where I live) to the ESSA’s (Every Student Succeeds Act) overreach in state education. (*Note: if you missed that article )

However, there was one I missed. It’s called the “BRIGHT Futures Act”. It’s from the NC Senate, and is also S56. My fellow anti CCSS Warrior, Andrea Dillon, shared news and video of this Bill on the “American Lens” Facebook page. In the video, our Lt. Governor is waxing joyously about how a “Last Mile” for NC is about to be reached. What is he referring to?

Digital Connectivity and how it will help Rural Education

“Digital Connectivity” ties rural education to the CCSS Machine through aligned workforce based education as laid out in ESSA, HEA (Higher Education Act), and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act).
“Digital Connectivity” was also a huge portion of the U.S. House of Representative’s HR5 (Student Success Act).
I laid all this out for you in my previous article titled “ESSA and Digital Overload”. That article also helps us connect Rural Education to HR5 and “NC New Schools”. (*Note: the NC New Schools will lead to you to other States with rural education populations.)

You may recall, HR5 was the House’s version to re-authorize ESEA of 1965 (Elementary and Secondary Education Act). As a compromise, big parts of HR5 were taken and added to the U.S. Senate’s version of ESEA’s re-authorization, called “Every Child Achieves Act”, or S1177.

As we now know, S1177 is the Bill which survived and changed its name to ESSA to reflect all that ‘bi-partisan’ work from Congress.

The digital mandates are now coming to fruition. Conveniently completed from a State level with Bills such as “Bright Futures”.

Pausing For A Bit Of Reference:

Before we go on finding out how NC’s S65 is helping ESSA ‘set up shop’ in  NC, let me say that I have no idea how many States have similar legislation. I have no clue how many NC State Leaders are pushing for all the ‘digital connectivity’ items they can get their hands on. However, I do know, that our State has a long history on jumping on the ‘fed ed’ bandwagon several times.

That NC has jumped on this bandwagon is no shocker. Why? NC was the first State to jump on board with Microsoft through their Microsoft IT Academy.

ncmicroit

As we know, Microsoft is a huge digital, CCSS Machine organization. We know Bill Gates is Microsoft’s ‘guy’. We also know Gates is the one who signed an agreement with UNESCO for a one world curriculum, which grew into the CCSSI (Common Core State Standards Initiative). We see the CCSSI in the pages of ESSA, too. Literally.
*Note: In ESSA, we also see the name change from “CCSS” (Common Core State Standards) to its less ‘vile’ name, ‘College and Career Readiness’. ESSA’s writers like to use that phrase. Along with the even more innocent sounding “Challenging State Academic Standards”. ESSA’s writers also threw in the ‘Career Technical Education (CTE)’ phrase.

So, what have Microsoft and NC been up to more recently than 2010? This short You Tube video (2013) will introduce you to the “Imagine Academy”.

In 2016, NC and Microsoft made the news in connection with the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Big Data Regional Hubs. There are 4 of these Hubs across the USA. NC is in the Southern Hub. (*Note: NSF is also a huge CCSS Machine member organization.)

Back To The ‘BRIGHT Futures’:

brightnc

Above you see a screen shot of the 4 page S65 Bill (BRIGHT Futures Act)

*BRIGHT stands for “Broadband, Retail Services on-line, Internet of things, GridPower, Health care, and, Training and education”.

You’ll also see I added some emphasis to Page 1 of S65. These items are very important clues to those of us fighting federally led education in ALL age groups.

While the legislators promoting this Bill are calling this a great thing for NC, here are the parts they either left out by omission (assuming they have no idea how vast the CCSS Machine’s grip on workforce education is) OR by design.

a) P3s (Public-Private Partnerships) in education have created a disgrace to the classical, academic basis our students need.

b) Workforce based education, especially in adult populations ties back to WIOA and HEA, espically through the one-stop-job-centers here in NC. Called “NCWorks” it is a direct product of WIOA state grant money awarded to NC. Why? WIOA grant money given to ANY State has an underlying purpose: using the job center data to ‘marry’ with the student data to create a seamless Career Tech/Career Pathway education! It is the ‘perfect’ setup. The student data, as we know, comes from the Dept. of Education; likewise, the job data comes from the Dept. of Labor. Both happen at the Federal level AND the State level!!

c) Making improvements in your State for better education/access to shouldn’t come about as a by-product of your economy. Those improvements should never place the importance of money over our students. Using a phrase like ‘all means necessary’ is also a big warning.

d) Governor appointed positions spell bad news for the State citizens, regardless of what Council or Committee it is. Special interests are vastly protected with these appointments.

e) Near the bottom of Page 1 (Line 27), “School Connectivity Initiative and Digital Learning Plan” are inserted.  The SCI (School Connectivity Initiative) has been around a few years. Here’s what is does, “The NC School Connectivity Initiative (SCI) compliments the E-rate program in North Carolina by providing state funding to cover the non-discounted portion of school connectivity-related charges. The SCI also provides a statewide network connecting all LEAs and most charter schools to the Internet, E-rate training and support, and network engineering services.” Source: Page 18 of the NC Digital Learning Plan (*Note: E-Rates are those small charges on your phone bill. They, too, can be traced back to the CCSS Machine. E-Rates basically are funds used to data mine your students.) According to the NC Digital Plan, at the bottom of Page 18, it is revealed the E-rates used for NC are based on Free and Reduced Lunch Program.

The NC Digital Plan also is part of the CCSS Machine’s plan for continued alignment in education. How do I know this?  CCSS Machine member, The Friday Institute, is the one which published the detailed Plan in 2015. Among the Plan’s pages is the fact other States using Digital Learning Plans were used as models for NC. The roots for NC’s Digital shift in education go back to 1999. The CCSS Machine entered the digital push about the time Race to the Top surfaced.
To see and read the entire NC Digital Plannc-digital-learning-detailed-plan-9-14-15

Interestingly enough, the NC DPI (Dept of Public Instruction) and the NC SBE (State Board of Education) help oversee this Digital Learning Plan. (Page 6). Our Lt. Governor serves on the SBE. (see below)

ncsbe

From the Lt. Governor’s Education Policy page on his Official NC Website, his stance on digital education. (The rest of his policies reveal a clear conflict (school choice) for us Warriors.) See: http://ltgov.nc.gov/resources/lieutenant-governor-dan-forest-education-policy)

“Innovation in Education: Students need access to modern technology to prepare them for a 21st century economy. Every student should have one-to-one devices (computers, laptops, tablets, etc.) in their North Carolina classroom. As Chairman of the Governor’s eLearning Commission and member of the State Board of Education’s Special Committee on Digital Learning, Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest is actively working to provide Wi-Fi access to every K – 12 classroom in the state. Though North Carolina leads the way in our effort to extend broadband Internet access to every public school, the next step is to expand that infrastructure to reach every public school classroom and put one-to-one devices in the hands of the students.”

I would urge any of you with proven research as to how digital devices are so dangerous in the hands of our youngest learners or how too much screen time is dangerous for any age student, to please contact the Lt. Governor and every one of the S65 Sponsoring Legislators.

If you missed why ‘school choice’ is an anti Fed Ed Warrior’s conflict:

essaumbrella

As far as top-down digital legislation or programs containing digital learning and related to ESSA, or now codified within, America has:
Digital Promise
Digital Promise Neighborhoods
i3 Initiative
ConnectED
Digital Innovation Upgrades or Creations
(at least $849 million in funding is ear-marked)
REAP (Rural Education Achievement Program)
(Will impact Title One funding, use $1.6 billion in tax payer funds for ‘rigorous’ education including all technology, ramp up the STEM Master Corps, and more.)
Community Schools (can also include 21st Century Community Learning Centers)

Closing:

So, pardon me, if I’m not seeing such a BRIGHT NC Future. What I do see is a NC committeed more to the federal government than to its citizens. I urge all of you who live in rural counties and states, use this article as an example of what is going on right under our noses to align everyone in education to the same thing!

Good Colors/Bad Colors

We’ve all had discussions about education. Some of these ‘talks’ are pretty easy; some others aren’t. With most of us back home and resuming our post-Thanksgiving lives, it is easy to think about what was said around the table.

My family is no exception. Most of the family’s offspring are up in age. A few, however, have little ones. By little I mean ’10 years and younger’. My most ‘in-depth’ education conversation wasn’t with one of the grown-ups. It was with a 7 year old.

Here’s what this child is experiencing daily in a summary form:
“I got a new teacher when I went to my new school. I like this one much better because he gives me good colors. My old school teacher gave me bad colors. I don’t like the bad colors. She was mean.”

My heart still hurts when I recall his face and body language.

Warriors, I do not know about you, but this was something, no one, not even a Warrior Parent had shared. Since parents are being left out of education so much, these Warriors may not know about the ‘good color/bad color’ strategy in the classroom. Maybe they do and are fighting so hard against it, it’s assumed everyone knows.

It doesn’t matter. What DOES matter is looking at how this strategy is reshaping (literally) our children’s mindset.

Behind the Color Wheel, An Old Agenda Awaits:

behavecolor

Warriors, I found this example on Pintrest, along with hundreds of other color behavior management charts. Since I do not know exactly what school my young kinsman attends, I cannot access his school directly.
I did find his school district’s website. No mention about color controlled behavior management was available. (You can also find via an internet search how colors are replacing report cards. We know that in some States report cards and diplomas are being phased out totally.)

So, where’s the ‘agenda’? PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) While the screen shot you see above may or may not co-ordinate with the particular school district I’m referring to or not, the PBIS, thanks to ESSA, (Every Student Succeeds Act) is only going to get more invasive. An added ‘bonus’? The amount of money to be made by private companies which partner with schools. ESSA gives that opportunity many times in the Law.

Earlier this year (2016), I shared with you the Pearson Behavior Management System (Review 360) and how it uses P3s (Public Private Partnerships) for conditioning not only our students, but our school leaders, too. See Part 2 of my article:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/03/07/pearsons-gi-more-alignment-in-the-workplace/

Also from earlier this year, I shared with you how ESSA and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers were set (or, are being set in place) for whole family behavior managing. The agenda? If the entire family is on the same track, the student will have better success in life (aka: student achievement/student outcome). See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/04/10/ccss-machine-potpourri/

Related to what is happening NOW in behavior management, is this screen shot from a 2014 article I published which revealed to you the Behavior Standards used in schools which aligned to Common Core.

14behave

You can see how the PBIS will fit into schools. It doesn’t matter what name the States use for educational standards, the behavior portions will remain in place and yet, will INCREASE in overreach!

If you wish to access the Behavior Standards and Mindsets:

Above, you noticed I stated 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Here’s a screen shot of how the PBIS will fit:

PBIS In Real Time:

From the school district information I found that the Positive Behavior uses not only colors (think a traffic light), BUT coins as rewards to use for ‘shopping’.

In this ‘new way’ of behaving, kids are taught that ‘fail’ doesn’t mean the opposite of ‘success’, as it is traditionally taught; no, it represents  an ‘opportunity to try again’, ‘failing is another word for growing’, or ‘first attempt in learning’! Warriors, do you sense the importance of this shift?! (Do an Internet search for the images of these phrases, you’ll be surprised at the shift in traditional critical thinking.)

So, what is the school district I found using for PBIS?
It’s at every grade level; it uses Starbucks Rewards cards; weekly school ‘shopping’ trips;
colors as ‘good’ or ‘not good’ (‘bad’ is not an option); and, levels of keeping behaviors in line with every other student (for example: blue level or gold level, the higher the color, the more the responsibility).

It’s important to note that the school district is Greenville, SC. According to their website, they are SC’s largest school district and the 51st largest in the entire nation. They also are accredited by AdvancEd (a huge CCSS Machine member group which manipulates behavior.)

To see Greenville’s PBIS description (to be used anywhere learning can happen):
https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/monaview/Upload/uploads/PBIS.pdf

To see how PBIS is used for elementary students:

pbispaws

Warriors, do you see how music is used in the cafeteria?! Do you see how much silence is expected?! Do you see how often lines are to be used or order is to be kept?!
To see the entire chart: https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/parise/students/0809/pbis.asp

PBIS for older special needs students (self contained)? Greenville’s School District offers a specific teacher’s letter. In it PBIS is described as a “Behavior Management System”. The introduction states a Unique Learning System (a Standards based on-line curriculum) is also used. To see the traffic light/shopping trip plan for behavior: https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/rms/syllabi/KellettSelfContained.pdf
To see the Unique Learning Systems SC Standards Base (College and Career Readiness Standards; code for Common Core State Standards): https://www.n2y.com/unique-learning-system/

What’s interesting is that Greenville’s School District AdvancED accreditation‘more information’ link is broken. However, I did find the information at the Greenville Economic Development Board’s website. (see: http://www.greenvilleeconomicdevelopment.com/greenville-county-schools.php )
(*Note: AdvancEd is big into the the 2030 UN Agenda for an educated workforce. See:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/this-is-our-choice/)

Why would school information be located at an economic website? The workforce agenda!!
“College and Career Readiness” doesn’t just involve education, it arches over into jobs.
Jobs drive the local economy. ESSA and WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) use Career Tech Education and Career Pathways (sometimes Career Clusters). The Higher Education Act (HEA) also plays into this!

The Ultimate Goal for the students in Greenville School District (as well as a national goal we see playing out in ‘real time’)? The screen shot shows only a portion of the information. The entire 2 page brochure reveals the ‘building’ begins in Pre-school!

As far as the “education evangelist”? He’s preaching innovation in education for the economy’s benefit! See for yourselves:

Closing:

Warriors, we all are at risk of losing our students to the CCSS Machine’s workforce agenda. It doesn’t matter how young or old our students are. By using colors to encourage or discourage young minds, we condition them unjustly. By using music as cues to be ourselves and chat with others or not, we are restricting personalities. By showing instant gratification for ‘good’ behavior, we are seeing the entitlement programs increase in society.

What’s my little kinsman’s future?! Sadly, like all the rest of ours. A ‘color coded credential for work’ where we are all ‘bronze, silver, gold, or platinum’ workers…not free people with hopes and dreams.
(see: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/09/03/tech-thursday-just-say-no-to-nocc/)

So, the ‘education evangelist’ is truthful about one thing ‘who do I want to work for?’;
the rest of his message? An empty vat of lies.

K.I.S.S. Congress

BREAKING NEWS!!!!
H5963 has advanced in the House! If you received my earlier version of this same post, you’ll see the Bill number was incorrect. I’ve addressed that. I’ve also found out that I misunderstood exactly where HR5587 is. It passed the entire House by a vote of 405-5! The flurry of activity?! The House of Representatives is on ‘fire’ for their “Better Way” agenda. Leading that charge? Paul Ryan! A huge sold-out leader!
Link to HR5587’s Vote: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2016/roll503.xml
Link to H5963’s advancment: http://edworkforce.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=401014

Warriors Against the Core, so far, 2016’s federal overreach into education has been written quickly, promoted widely, and is set to increase the choke-hold on freedom as we know it.

Yet, it appears the U.S. Congress could care less. Recently, I was a guest on the “Lori on Liberty” show, based out of CT. We discussed such nonchalance attitudes displayed from our leaders. We delved into all but H5963, you see below. If you would like the interview link (I’m part 1): https://spaces.hightail.com/receive/YtW2n
(*Note: the link expires 9/18/16. You can download it as a zip file.)

Why talk about these bills in D.C. which are in their ed/workforce committees? BECAUSE the bills SHOULDN’T be there AT all!!

toxicbillstodo

My point, Warriors?! EVERY one of the Bills you see above is toxic to America in HUGE ways! Warriors, we have the ‘writing on the wall’ before us. WHAT are we willing to do with it?

As you can see in the graphic above, each of the Bills has the most basic of toxic components listed. But, know this: each of one them you see above has more ties than a centipede wearing tennis shoes!

Here is a chart I prepared in August 2016 which gives you a side by side look at HR5587, S3271, S3190, and S3174. One for H5963 will need to be created, too.

fededoverreachchart

(*Note: Only HR5587 has moved out of its Ed/Workforce Committee. See the press release: http://edworkforce.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=401008 )

A problem is the LEGISLATORS want short and sweet (or ‘to the point’) pictures; one-half to 3/4 of a page in information!
Which is a HUGE clue as to they are unwilling to conduct the due diligence which they swore to do.
They should be not only willing to read the ENTIRE lengthy ‘saga-like’ bills being churned out, they should be doing it. IT’s THEIR JOB we PAY them for! We (Warriors) know several citizens who are DOING Congress’ job for them!!

Why are our Congress members NOT jumping up and down, screaming with anger over the 100% illegal daily activities going on?! Why are our Congress members NOT staging protests or holding press conferences revealing the criminal (yes, seriously criminal) charges which should be being levied against each other (and quite possibly themselves)?! If a ‘regular’ American citizen conducted even a FRACTION of any of the illegal moves, they’d be under the jail!

No, Congress is too busy NOT listening! Too much money is stuffed in their ears! The press conferences they are holding are to congratulate, not only, each other but every one of the supportive/sold out CCSS Machine members who helped ‘craft’ the Bills!

WHEN CONGRESS DOES NOT TAKE ITS JOB (ITS ONE and ONLY JOB) SERIOUSLY, WHY SHOULD I TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY?

If they’re not serious, why are they even there?! Because they’ve over complicated EVERYTHING, even the law. If they’d take the CCSS Machine’s money out of their ears, divorce themselves from the curried favors of the lobbyists of the CCSS Machine (or any person connected to it), THEY’D KNOW, “We the People” are their REAL Bosses! They’d recognize it is OUR voice with which they are to vote/protest/protect. They’d truly understand WE are to be respected, not manged like ‘village idiots’.

As an example of the glee and glory with which the House of Representatives is using in celebrating the advancement of HR5587, they’ve proudly displayed the list of organizations who are in 100% support of the Bill. It’s a ‘no brainer’ to see how many of them are CCSS Machine member organizations. Which means, Warriors, our same old foes are pumping out propaganda left and right.

supportfor5587

Since they are most of the same CCSS Machine members/tactics, we should be easily able to defeat them!

If you wish to access the “Letters of Support” our Reps are so proud of:
http://edworkforce.house.gov/letters-of-support-for-h-r-5587/

Don’t you wish they were as proud of our nation as they are of their criminal partnerships?

Warriors, if you’d like to help rein in Congress, or know someone who does, share this.
As has been said before, it’s up to “We the People”, we cannot trust or rely on those who have been elected and have jumped on the CCSS Machine.

Women on the Wall and U.S. Parents Involved in Education are two such groups. I’m honored and proud to be a part of both. A dedicated Warrior has taken it upon herself to create a new Facebook page (honoring my work looking into these Congressional bills) where you can help rein in Congress.
https://www.facebook.com/CommonCoreDiva.CallToAction1/

I CANNOT do this ALONE nor SHOULD you! One of us is easily marginalized. Many of us might be discounted, but a lot of us, will get their attention. We MUST be LOUDER than ever! We MUST not be polite..it’s a fight, not a Sunday dinner. We MUST protest in their backyard (which we pay for them to use). We MUST be truthful, our nation has suffered enough with the lies.

Please, help me, help you by listening out, watching out where these (or any other related legislation) Bills are concerned. We MUST be pro-active, not reactive. Help our nation and our students by taking whatever strikes your heart the most when you read the articles below and create screen shots, charts,  memes, or whatever will help get this life-saving message of our out there!

Weekend News for the War Against the Core

For the last weekend in April (2016), I wanted to leave you with a few things every anti CCSS Warrior needs to know about P3s (Public private partnerships). If you missed these, you can now find them in one place. If you haven’t gotten this information before, you now have some great tools to use.

Blasted P3s!

If you have followed my research long, you know that time and time again, the P3s keep showing up in the midst of the CCSS Machine and its grinding away at America. Like everything fed through the CCSS Machine, P3s and their intent is not good for education at all.

What once was to be a healthy relationship between government and the private sector has become a holy hell. Consider this: early P3 relationships concerning the private sector and schools were to BUILD the schools. That way the private sector could return to their private business and the schools could get on with teaching.

But in the shift to CBE (Competency Based Education) aka OBE, (Outcome Based Education) the private sector has done more than build the schools, they now help guide what is taught. Meanwhile the schools have appeared to have no problem selling our kids education out in the process.

ruboff

In the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), States will be awarded big bucks for allowing MORE P3s in our schools, not less. P3s will get to work with the LEAs (Local Education Agencies) to determine if a student is ready to proceed to the next grade level. (Page 137 of the ESSA Final Conference Report states this.)

Recently, while on a national webinar/conference call with a pro CCSS group concerned about the ESSA and civil rights, they brought up the fact that P3s were a great thing in schools. When I asked them about Page 137 and the mandate; how would the P3s be accountable; how could the P3s do the teacher’s job, they were stumped! I was told that while they didn’t have a good answer they certainly agreed P3s need to be vetted and deemed appropriate.

Warriors, do you see what an open-ended message the ESSA used in this instance? Do you see how fraught with alignment this leaves our States?! Consider the recent news that Planned Parenthood has now been given the green light to open offices directly in select schools across the country. (Source: http://associatedmediacoverage.com/planned-parenthood-announces-on-site-partnership-with-select-public-school-systems/ )

This is a blazing example of a P3 overreach. While it is supposed to be in high schools only, think about the fact our high schools are being redesigned (or already have been) and now include middle school age kids in the SAME buildings!! This means students younger than high school could now have access to the P3, CCSS agenda driven Planned Parenthood.

Please note, Planned Parenthood is not the only agenda driven group. There are plenty more. Ask yourselves, since ESSA has it that groups like this will help determine how ready for the next grade level your student is, HOW will they measure this?!

From the U.S. Dept. of Ed, the Promise Neighborhood Awards (will only be up to 2012, as 2013-14, no new awards were given. Also note that Promise Neighborhoods are codified in the ESSA and have an entire Section in the Law, see Section 4624; Others related to Promise Neighborhoods: Full Service Community Schools, Section 2465; 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Section 4001-42016. Each of these will also have P3 involvment/overreach):

While I provide the following as examples, please note that each named partner may also have other partners they work with and are NOT named. Regardless of how trustworthy the names of the partners/groups are, remember, this is all part of the purposed and planned overreach in the name of ‘student success’!

An example from CA of an existing Promise Neighborhood Partnership program:

However, look at the vision behind the Promise Neighborhood in this instance:
http://www.haywardpromise.org/vision.php

Here is another CA example of a Promise Neighborhood, in this one, I saw at least 3 CCSS Machine members (United Way, La Raza, and a Economic and Workforce Development Council)http://missionpromise.org/our-work/mpn-partners/

This Promise Neighborhood in MN is governed by a private council!!
https://www.wilder.org/Community-Leadership/Saint-Paul-Promise-Neighborhood/Pages/Partnership-Council.aspx (Ask yourselves, what does this mean in an ESSA era? Will this type of governing replace current school boards, town councils, etc.?) Think I am nuts for suggesting this question? Remember the ESSA is written as an open-ended law in some of its parameters on purpose! Also, the mandate of student achievement wrap around services basically rubber stamps ANYTHING as long as it can be considered educational, a resource, or both.

Closing:

I hope I have not confused you on the intent embedded in the ESSA and the P3s. They mean to ruin academic education and replace it with competency based, workforce purposed, social justice minded, and constricted paths for our students. While much is being said about P3s, the danger is what ISN’T being said and how it will be carried out thanks to the ESSA!

As I recently heard an author state about this kind of treatment in another country (I have paraphrased it):
They (those in charge of government/education) do not kill you outright with guns  and knives, they kill you daily by not allowing you to be who you were meant to be or doing what you want.

CCSS Machine Potpourri

scarystates
To my fellow Anti CCSS/Fed Led Ed Warriors, I have gathered the following miscellaneous Pro Common Core fodder. Why? Since ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is now law, the propaganda from the CCSS Machine is working overtime to produce as much BS as it can.

If you haven’t seen the following items, you should! While the false facts are flying, we have to work HARDER to share the truth! Is this a challenge? Of course it is! Can we do it?! Sure we can!! Share this article with other anti CCSS/Fed Led Ed Warriors, discuss what you can do to help those in your area find out what REALLY is going on, not what the CCSS Machine cronies say!!

First up, the President of the NEA (National Educators Association) gives us a rundown of all teachers do in today’s classrooms. Notice where the true education ends up in her list. Notice the arrogance in her face as she runs down this list and then remember ALL the latest CCSS Machine moves, resources, and legislation which has been produced in the name of parental right being usurped or taken away! It is no wonder the CCSS Machine claims kids don’t need parents!

Secondly, as one of my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors stated, ‘who needs the truth, it just gets ignored.’ This particular video gives us a look into MORE of what is happening in our schools. I guess the NEA failed to mention this on their snarky list.

Third, The ESSA has embedded a tremendous amount of behavior modification activities, supportive programs and services, as well as other RTI (Response to Invertion) methods. Yet, it spite of it, the real evidence is coming out…RTIs are NOT working!! Yet, MORE are being planned, created, and will be used!! The CCSS Machine is most certainly on a BS mission with this portion of the ESSA!! See: http://www.makespecialeducationwork.com/response-intervention-falls-short-2/#sthash.DVCN7NbT.Aq1YzW81.dpbs

Related: Where are the RTI items in the ESSA? For one thing, they will appear via 21st Century Community Learning Centers/Full Community Schools and through Promise Neighborhood Programs. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/01/04/meet-your-new-neighbor-essa-seriously/
To help illustrate this, see the screen shot below from my first article in a series of 3 where I laid out the 2017 Federal Budget Education Requests (think almost $70 billion dollars). The link to the article is immediately beneath the screen shot. You can access it to not only get the ESSA Final Conference Report download, but you can access the other two articles detailing the Budget plans, as well as how it fits in the ESSA. The Budget Requests will also reveal how entire communities, the post-secondary educational system, teachers and leaders, and each State will be impacted.

Closing:

I hope you will continue to help me raise as much awareness to what the REAL truths are about the ESSA. Do not be discouraged if you feel NO ONE is listening. Among the Warriors, we have heard the term ‘crickets’ when we think no one cares.

It is easy to believe no one is hearing you, especially when life is so busy. However, please know that your voice is probably being heard by someone. It is your voice those around you need to hear LOUDER than those spewing lies and making light of how our educational system in being ruined and transformed into a nanny’s house. Remember, to speak LOUDER doesn’t mean we have to shout, it just means we have to use a firm, knowledge based voice.

To say something is fine, but to have the actual language and what it means is what will make your voices BOOM! Still not sure about HOW you can make a BOOMING voice without yelling? Look at the screen shot above. That is a start. It gives the specific sections you can point others to. Think your legislative/local leaders have actually read the over 1,000 page ESSA Report OR the almost 400 page ESSA Law? I doubt it. Why? If they had, they would be jumping up and down with anger of just how this Law will HARM America, not FIX it! If you would like my 2 and 1/2 page PDF document which is very similar to the screen shot above. While I made it for my NC State Legislators, it is suitable for ALL the States. HOW? Each of our States will experience the SAME mandates of the ESSANCedover

If you need to add your contact information, please do. If you need to address this to your State, please do so, as well. Should you need me for any reasons connected to this War Against the Core (or you wish your Legislators to contact me), all my information is included.

Warriors Against the Core! A call to action is before us. The question is, will we continue to see the CCSS (Common Core State Standards) Machine spew deceptive principles right before us OR we will expose them quickly, mightily, and with purpose?! With the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) in full creation/implementation mode, the deceptions are flying at us a break neck speed. We can’t afford to miss them. For truth to win, we must be sharp!

The Deceptive Catch?! (Oh yes, there are several, in fact)

Profit. Your state or school district pays the money to access these supposed helpful resources. The supplier, in turn, sells more to other states and school districts. The supplier’s bottom line gets bigger and your freedom of choice gets smaller. Nice bait and switch, isn’t it?! However, the suppliers are not done with your state or school district yet…Besides profit, the others are: data (to be collected, sold, shared, and used against each other for more profit/gain), ESSA mandates in what is taught and how it is taught (not choices), workforce agenda (not true academics for students or teachers), entire community assessments (if your community doesn’t measure up, there will be more ‘helpful resources’ available..of course for a price!), and family interventions (The CCSS Machine’s agenda is NOT family togetherness)!

Warriors, in this age of cyber meetings, expect the following to continue to happen:
1) More deceptions disguised as helpful resources.
2) More data/technology systems will be out soon and available for purchase.
3) More and more webinars will be churned out in the name of adhering to the ESSA.
4) More meetings geared for school leaders to adhere to the ESSA.
5) We will continue to expose it all!!!

The Screenshot Above:

The graphic I made for you is a perfect illustration of the ‘happy to deceive you’ tactics so ripe and in use by the CCSS Machine. This one happens to be a recent webinar (3/23/16) slide hosted by the NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals)

The NASSP is no exception. How do I know? I have researched this group before. Sen. Lamar Alexander bragged on them, in fact, when he gloated after the ESSA passed AND Dr. King was confirmed. In fact, all those groups Alexander mentioned are busy churning out webinars, emails, tweets, and any other type of ESSA alignment hype. It is almost laughable how each one is saying THEIR information is the ‘most accurate’ about ESSA ‘really means’!

So, what did the NASSP have to spin eloquent about concerning the ESSA? Title One funding. However, the NASSP was not alone in this presentation. The Learning First Alliance (another pro CCSS group) had a guest speaker featured in the webinar. He also claimed to have great insight into all things Title One. (To access the Alliancehttp://www.learningfirst.org/)

Here are some other need to know anti CCSS Warrior items from the webinar:

1) College and Career Readiness is purposefully inserted in the ESSA and contain 3 levels of achievement. The CCR will also mandatorily have to meet CTE (Career Technical Education) and post-secondary public college/university requirements.

2) The U.S. Dept. of Education has a new pilot program out for up to 7 states to become a part of. Stated as the ‘Innovative Assessment and Accountability Demo Project’. However, I did not find a project with this name on the U.S. Dept. of Education’s website. I did happen to find another pro CCSS media spin on the Project, “…the law also includes a pilot program that initially allows up to seven states to develop innovative assessment systems—such as competency-based assessments and instructionally embedded assessments—that provide valid, reliable, and comparable data on student achievement. States approved for this program can pilot these innovative assessment systems in a few districts before implementing them statewide.” (Source: https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/education/report/2016/01/29/130115/implementing-the-every-student-succeeds-act/)
What this means for us: those schools in the approved states will be experimental yet again for education reform purposes. Those presenting during the webinar said that many, many more states (besides the allotted 7) are lining up to participate. (*Related to this is what the U.S. Dept. of Ed has on file about assessments:
http://tech.ed.gov/netp/assessment-measure-what-matters/)

3) How much Title One funding our states will receive will be based on the past 3 years of student data. Funding will be doled out on two dates in 2016: July 1st, and October 1st. The states will receive money based on the child count per district as well as the poverty rate. These figures are taken from your county’s (or parish’s) data.

4) Gone will be the Yearly Annual Progress tracking and 100% graduation rates. Supposedly states will get to set all the parameters, at least according to the hosts. What is also being debated is which national assessment to used as the high school requirement…it will be either the SAT or the ACT (both, just happen to be aligned to CCSS!)

5) More high schools could get Title One funding, thanks to the ESSA. This change would allow more students to be included in all those supportive success activities and programs ESSA is full of. The Title One funding states get must go for development of school wide programs/services and can be used for dual enrolled or concurrently enrolled students.

6) According to the webinar, the ESSA will be updated in about 5 years and completely replaces NCLB, No Child Left Behind(funny, another pro CCSS webinar I attended and shared the results said NCLB was largely in place via the ESSA). I guess this happens when you deceive folks so much you get lost in the lies!

7) Because of possible shifts in Title One funding from ‘targeted assistance’ to ‘school wide’, you will need to see what school districts consider as capital purchases. The example given: laptops for each student (as long as they are $500.00 or less) qualify as capital purchases. The U.S. Dept. of Ed is ‘encouraging’ states to use ‘school wide services/programs’ to avoid the technicalities of ESSA.

 8) NASSP wants to be a top influencer in the ESSA changes we face. Expect this wish from all the others clamoring for our attention with ESSA changes.

9) States MUST submit Title One plans to the U.S. Dept. of Education in a timely manner. Meaningful consultative results MUST also be presented. The consultative process will involve all ‘stakeholders’ in education AND have to co-ordinate with all other educational programs the states use/plan to use. Since there is no set consulting process yet, this means we have an opportunity to become involved in defining what the process will look like!!

10)The NASSP shared that most State Boards of Education do not contain a full staff of professionals, it is important to get as many professional education-minded people in place. Another opportunity for us to get as many anti CCSS professionally minded education Warriors in place!

To access the entire Webinar slide set: nasspwebaddy

Other Webinars we Warriors should make plans to attend:

NASSP’s Title Two (will target educator funding), April 27, 2016 and the Title 4 (Block grants for States and education) for 21st Century Community Schools, May 4, 2016. Both will be held Eastern Daylight Time (3:30 pm to 4:30 pm). You can sign up for these by using the same address included in the screen shot above.

Be sure to check EdWeek’s website. This Gates Foundation backed group is also busy churning out deceptions with the ESSA.

ASCD is featuring many pro ESSA resources right now in preparation for their upcoming conference. (ASCD is also backed by the Gates Foundation).

Not a webinar, but a date we can use to counter act the pro ESSA lies the NEA will be spinning: April 3rd, 2016. Look to your local NEA chapters for news on this.

Closing:

All this deception reminds me of some lyrics from a song I first heard last year. Sung by a British artist named Paloma Faith, the song is titled ‘Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful’?  While written as a love song, it is my opinion that those in the CCSS Machine live this out daily:

‘Do you want the truth or something beautiful?
Just close your eyes and make believe
Do you want the truth or something beautiful?
I am happy to deceive you’

So much for principled leadership, huh?
