Up and Coming

Anti CCSS Warriors, here are the upcoming items I will be focusing on either this weekend, or next week in the War Against the Core. Participate when and where you can. If you cannot participate, use the information as tools for what is coming up in your State.

Sunday, an Interview:

Normally, my media appearances on scheduled for Wednesdays. However, when I am asked to speak out, regardless of the day, if I can, I do.

This Sunday, May 15th, I will be the guest on the Lori on Liberty Show, based in CT. While setting things up with Lori, she shared with me that she is in this War because she is experiencing, first hand, the damage of CCSS through her high school children. You can access the show, set for 2 pm, Eastern Daylight Time. See the screen shot below:

Tuesday, an Opportunity to Speak Out:

This live event will find me joining several other NC based anti CCSS Warriors when we gather at a NC Dept. of Public Instruction “Stakeholders meeting”. We will meet at the East Forsyth High School (2500 W. Mountain St., Kernersville, NC). According to the NC DPI website, this meeting (held from 4 pm to 6 pm) is one of a handful held across the State to seek stakeholders input on how to make the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) truly a state controlled education reform.

Now, Warriors, we know for a fact that this goal is merely a posturing move by the Dept. to give the illusion of grandeur. Why would I say this? Consider the mountains of evidence I have shared with you in the recent past about the ESSA’s TRUE intent; think about the other mountains of facts other anti CCSS Warriors have shared about the agenda embedded in the ESSA.

So why would we go to such an event?
1) It will be video recorded and and can be shared.

2) It can be used as an example of what you can expect from your State if and when they decide to host stakeholder meetings.

3) We are to have 3 minutes each to ask questions or make comments. Going on public record in opposition is ALWAYS worth it. Public dissent helps our War efforts tremendously! Oh, I almost forgot, if you wish to speak up, you must register to do so before the meeting begins (so, my group is planning on being early, so we can be among the first to speak). The Dept. has also said we are invited to come prepared with written copies of our questions or statements. Almost as an afterthought, the Dept. has stated that we can also use their on-line ‘ask a question’ page.

4) According to the NC DPI Communications leader, there will be NO NC DPI responses given. This meeting is to only HEAR what the citizens have to say. I was told by the Communications Dept. that these Spring 2016 meetings are only the FIRST round of public interaction. So, I guess if I have a question and not a comment, it will not be answered right away.

Also, the NC DPI Communications lady said there is to be more ESSA interaction in Fall 2016, as well as when the Final Draft of NC’s ESSA Plan is up for Review (which should be just before it is submitted to the U.S. Dept. of Education.)

This leaves me with a few questions, a) Will the Final Draft stay the same by the time it leaves NC and heads to Washington, D.C.? b) Since NC is using so much pre-canned ESSA material (see below), how truly ‘local’ will this Draft be? c) What recourse is there for parents after the Draft has been sent away to be judged and it comes back unacceptable, will we be included in the tweaking process at all?

To see what the NC decisions are said to be:
http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/docs/program-monitoring/succeeds/state-decisions.pdf
(*Note: at the bottom of the page, it is revealed that the supposed NC specific decisions are largely copied verbatim from the Penn Hill Group through the CCSSO (Council of Chief State School Officers! This explains why the header of the document says ‘Key State Decisions’ and not “NC Key ESSA Decisions”!)

Warriors, see if your State has this same document!!

Related: To find out about the Penn Hill Group (a D.C. based bipartisan group):
http://pennhillgroup.com/ (*Note: from their website, this excerpt: “Members of our team have been involved in the most recent authorization or reauthorization of nearly all major bills in these areas, including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Higher Education Act, the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, the Workforce Investment Act, and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”)

So much for objective bipartisanship, huh?

Back to the NC Decisions Document. Here is the downloadable version of the 7 pages for NC’s ‘state decisions’: state-decisions
While the document does say States are to submit plans to the Secretary, they left out that this is the U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary! They omitted the fact the ESSA states said Secretary must approve those plans, too!

A slightly different contrast to NC and the ESSA will find what you see below. A Draft Timeline NC has created. Look at what groups are involved (and which ones are NOT):

nctime

To see the rest of the Draft Timelinehttp://www.dpi.state.nc.us/docs/program-monitoring/succeeds/timeline.pdf (*Note:  look at the bottom to see that NC will even subject its timeline to that of the U.S. Dept. of Ed. Again, if it were truly local, wouldn’t it need to only include those dates for meeting the U.S. Dept. of Ed instead of using every one of the Ed’s? Another note: This Draft does include the approval by the U. S. Dept. of Education.)

When looking at your State for ESSA timelines, implementation plans, etc. Be sure to know what groups are involved (and which are left out), note if there are any specific ESSA committees or sub-committees being put into motion. Are they elected or appointed? If so, whom is deciding who serves? Are the ESSA committees/sub-committees accountable? If so, to whom?

Wednesday, Women on the Wall:

Make sure you mark the calendar for this call. I will be joining Alice Linahan (our hostess) and long time education researcher/Warrior, Diana Anderson. We are taking a fine-tooth-comb approach to the recent White Board Advisor’s Education Insiders May 2016 Report. The Report features their look at the ESSA, higher education, and the upcoming Presidential election. We will be focusing in on the top choices by both the Democrats and Republicans for the next U.S. Dept. of Education’s Secretary. It is important to note that the current U.S. Dept. of Ed Secretary, Dr. John King, may OR may not be asked to stay on as the leader under the next President. If he is allowed to stay, we already know what to expect, but IF he is relieved of his duties, who will be taking his place? This Report has several ‘qualified’ candidates we will be discussing. Many of them are tied to the CCSS Machine..some moreso than others. But, still, any tie, is one too many.

Veteran Warrior Speaks Up

See for yourselves: http://abcsofdumbdown.blogspot.com/2016/04/patriots-or-manchurian-candidates.html
See for yourselves:
http://abcsofdumbdown.blogspot.com/2016/04/patriots-or-manchurian-candidates.html

As Warriors against Common Core, or any federal/P3 (public private partnership) overreach in education, we have seen many like-minded folks share need-to-know information.
However, when a veteran Warrior speaks up, we MUST listen to the need-to-know information. Like any great military strategist, Senior officers can make or break your current efforts.

With the 2016 elections being SO important to our States and our Nation. We SIMPLY MUST give credence to fact based evidence which points us to just HOW embedded the CCSS Machine is (and has been) for most, if not, all of our lives!

We also must face the truth that not everyone against CCSS is being transparent or honest about their ties to the federally led, P3 usurping of education.

A Veteran Warrior Speaks, Will You Listen?

As you can see from the screen shot above, the veteran is none other than legendary Charlotte Iserbyt. Unlike some other ex-employees of the U.S. Dept. of Education, Mrs. Iserbyt has consistently, bravely, and factually  shared the corruption, the deceiption, and the plots concerning educational reform. Like most truthful Warriors, she has had more than her share of being considered a fear monger. Since I am such a dedicated researcher, I know Mrs. Iserbyt’s findings are dead on target. So, while others choose to not listen, I, for one, am listening wholeheartedly.

The Veteran’s Information:

In the blog entry screen shot I featured as the source above, you can access Mrs. Iserbyt’s website. However, if you don’t have time to do so now, here is a brief rundown.

1) To the Presidential Candidates, a warning: Know the background of your education policy makers. She goes on to tell you how former Presidents didn’t check as closely as they should of and how many organizations (including Heritage Foundation) which have been steering us straight to an aligned, workforce based nation. It was no surprise to learn the Carnegie Foundation was included.

A warning of my own: Carnegie is running workforce based education in the ground! See:
 https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/04/14/ftf-chea-cte-ccss-and-america/
Carnegie is also running rough shod over assessments.
See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/sic-em-saturday-when-your-faith-based-school-uses-ccss-assessments/
Carnegie and using frustration as a teaching tool. (along with other key CCSS Machine organizations): https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/08/31/frustration-the-new-teaching-tool/

2) For those seeking the President’s Job, Mrs. Iserbyt gives them need-to-know information in the purposed path the U.S. Dept. of Education has been laying out since President Reagan’s service. Remember, he said the U.S. Dept. of Ed had to be shut down. However, it never happened! The facts and documents will tell you why/how.

3) In Mrs. Iserbyt’s own words, her reasons why the U.S. Dept. of Ed won’t be shut down, regardless who is elected: ” “By the way, it’s too late to abolish the Department now.  It has done what  it was created to do, which was what the Carnegie Corporation (deeply involved in restructuring of education from 1934-2016) called for in 1934, words to the effect:  “to use the schools to change America’s capitalist economic system to a planned economy, and in some cases, to take our land”.”

3a) As far as how she implicates The Heritage Foundation? Again, her words, “The present global workforce training agenda cannot be implemented without the  Reagan Administration and Heritage Foundation’s long sought after tax-funded school choice/charter school agenda which calls for  the takeover of our traditional public schools by tax-supported school-to-work charter schools run by unelected councils and teachers/corporate types trained in Marxist Pavlovian/TQM pedagogy.”

A warning of my own: Heritage and some other big name, supposedly anti CCSS groups are increasingly pushing the need for ESAs (Education Savings Accounts).
Here is Heritage’s information:
 http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2011/10/education-savings-accounts-a-way-forward-on-school-choice

Related to this, is an almost 9 minute audio clip about how think tanks (while Heritage isn’t named, it is a think tank/policy organization) as well as the  candidates have bought into a false argument where school choice is actually possible in America. School choice is an ESA selling point! Access the clip:

(*Note: When you have time, I urge you to listen to the entire call. Heritage is revealed as a pusher of ESAs. https://soundcloud.com/alice-linahan/women-on-the-wall-conference-call-homeschoolers-speak-out-no-more-government-programs)

Closing:

Anti CCSS Warriors, and those opposed to the federal/P3 overreach in education, we MUST not only listen to veterans like Mrs. Iserbyt, we need to heed what other truthful Warriors have to say about ANY part of the efforts to streamline education for workforce purposes NOT true academics. If we are to fight this reform together, we MUST acknowledge where the evidence points us; expose those who are bearing a distorted message and ACT upon it! To do any less, is to be a part of the alignment of our education; not part of its solution.

CCSS Machine’s Dangerous 3

Warriors Against the Core and Fed Ed, just yesterday you learned about those posing as helpful resources, but are really part of the CCSS Machine (Common Core State Standards). Their agenda boils down to a ‘Dangerous 3 Points: Data, Alignment, and Profit’. In today’s ‘From the Files’, we will look more posers, Pearson Publishing and the Foundation for Excellence in Education  are among them. Why  bother? As in yesterday’s article, since we are now officially in the era of the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), we MUST remain  pro-active against those Dangerous 3 Points!

So, What is Being Pushed Now?

‘Shifting to digital education’, is one of their latest efforts. This is a ‘no brainer’ in the modern education reform. Why? It packs all 3 of the Dangerous Points in 1 punch.
There is even a dedicated Twitter handle for the movement, #ShiftToDigitalEd.

Let me clarify, the CCSS Machine member, Getting Smart website (all about education and technology) is where I learned about this. Pearson Publishing is sponsoring a five part blog series devoted to digital learning. Who is writing the blog? None other than CBE (Competency Based Education) guru, Tom Vander Ark. A huge CCSS Machine ‘poser’!
Here is an excerpt, “This blog is part one in a four part series–sponsored by Pearson Education–focused around the key indicators of success in a digital learning program. Throughout the series we will give details about the five “look fors” in online and blended environments.”

So HOW will VanderArk, Pearson, and other Digital Companies pull all this off?
1) Shared Vision for each student. “A graduate profile and a picture of learning.”
2) Involve the entire community. “Community conversations should consider how the world is changing, how jobs are changing, and how civic participation is changing. What’s really important for graduate success?” Houston (TX) ISD is given as one of the best examples of #1 and 2. See the write up: http://gettingsmart.com/2016/02/how-houston-schools-are-making-it-a-great-global-city/
3) Use the right systems, ask the right questions. See the screen shot:
blendbend

To access the above guide where you can find out more about those Dangerous 3 Points lived out in real time across America: BLIG-3.0-FINAL Be sure to look for how, repeatedly, the Dangerous 3 Points are laid out. Infrastructure (meaning your phone lines and digital bandwidth); legislation to back improvements up (will line the pockets of those in charge); seeking funding to pay for the alignment to digital (means more student measuring, aka assessing), and so much more. Also, note all the other CCSS Machine member organizations and posers involved.

Below is the screen shot from the poser CCSS (now ESSA) Machine member, NGLC (Next Generation Learning Challenges) created for the best kind of students: digitally hooked, globally minded, and competently educated. (Can you immediately spot those Dangerous 3 Points in each of the NGCL’s model?)

So, Jeb Bush’s Foundation is in This Too?

Of course! Somehow I knew after he dropped out of the 2016 Presidential Race, we were not through with his meddling in education. We know, by research and a sold out media, just HOW connected to the CCSS Machine, the Foundation for Excellence in Education is!
In my opinion, the ESSA, has given the Foundation a new spark.

The latest (which also pack a 3-in-1-punch for America)? “Why Proficiency Matters”
There is also a dedicated website for this. But, be warned, you will be asked to share your location where you access it. (You do have an option to block your location, too.) Website:
http://whyproficiencymatters.com/
whymatters

According to the information from the website, there are 5 reasons (which handily fit the 3-in-1 punch) we should have proficient students. They are a) education, b) preparedness, c) college, d) skills, and e) employment. The Foundation has combined reports to give you all these alarming figures. For example, 23% of students who take the Armed Forces exam (to join the military), fail. Manufacturers across America have 600,000 jobs and no skilled workers, and of course, the amount of money used in post-secondary education for remediation and lack of CCR (college/career readiness). You can find all the gloom and doom: http://whyproficiencymatters.com/about
(*Note: do you see the connection to higher education? Remember, the HEA (Higher Education Act) is coming up for re-authorization. The same CCSS Machine members who pushed the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) will most definitely be pushing this! A huge selling point for the re-authorization will be student debt!!)

If you are curious as to what solution the Foundation offers, it is this: states setting assessment goals to match the NAEP. By doing so, states also are aligning the assessments to ‘Readiness’ (as in CCR)! See below:
feeready
When you visit the Foundation for Excellence in Education’s above pages, be sure to click on the ‘Resources’ tab. There will not be much to see, but you need to see what IS there. http://cqrcengage.com/excelined/WhyProficiencyMatters

To see the Facts the Foundation is basing the ‘Proficiency Matters’ campaign on: Facts-Sources-2015.11.02 (*Note: there are quite a few other CCSS Machine members cited as sources here.)

Other ‘Dangerous 3 Points’ the Foundation is pushing? Education Savings Accounts, Education Policy courses for all, and so much more. See: http://www.excelined.org/

Closing:

So there you have it, Warriors, MORE CCSS Machine members posing as helpful folks. Only they forget to add they are pushing alignment, data/digital, and money making opportunities for themselves. What does our nation get? The shaft, the damage, and the demise of our people.
