Hello, my dear Anti Fed Ed Warriors! Have you heard in the main stream media that “Common Core” is behind us? Maybe you’ve heard the phrase that “Common Core is dead”

Since those words are meant to divide those of us fighting to preserve REAL school choices (which we have now AND include private education). In many of the United States, home education (aka: homeschooling) is ‘protected’ by being included in private education.

We’ve also been able to prove MANY times over that not only is “Common Core” still alive and in use, it has reached over into private schools of all kinds, INCLUDING home education. If you are new to my blog, you may have missed the many articles I’m written after researching HOW “Common Core” has infiltrated our homeschoolers’ community.
(*Note: I’ll be happy to provide any of the articles you may need. Please let me know via the comment section following this article.)

Since we are in the ESSA* era (as I have come to call the education reform’s latest time period), you may find this article the MOST helpful.
(*Note: ESSA is short for “Every Student Succeeds Act”.)

From another of my researched articles showing how ESSA will render ‘school choice’ as null and void, this image:

So, what is the LATEST I can share with you about ESSA, Common Core, and homeschooling? Read on, my Warriors…

NC Leads the Alignment Way…Again!

Look at this image I took from my local newspaper.

Fed Up

My Fellow Anti Fed Ed/Common Core Warriors,

As you may (or may not) know, my Mom died April 2, 2017. As you also know, I’ve shared bits and pieces of her disease with you along the way. She is now free from Alzheimer’s.

We have much more War Vs the Core research and activism to complete, my Warrior friends. Fight on , we shall.

I must complete a few more details in the next few days. Saying ‘goodbye until we meet again’ to my Mom, will be some of the very last steps in my caretaker journey.
Until my return to you, please, use this Blog to continue to actively circulate any shred of evidence you need to help wipe out the CCSS Machine.

As soon as I am able, I will return.

If you didn’t see the article I wrote which compared the overreaching destruction of the CCSS Machine to Alzheimer’s, here it is.

Be sure to circulate the graphic above. When you do, tell them the Diva sent you!

Finally, my Warriors, I thank you for all your support, love, prayers, and dedication.

The Delusion Games

Anti CCSS Warriors and those Against the CCSS Machine, have you seen the delusions of grandeur being manufactured at almost break neck speed lately?!

Between the stacked deck of pro CCSS folks being tagged for leadership and the main stream media cranking out plenty of false positives about education, it’s enough to make our heads spin.

For example, recently Tom VanderArk’s “Getting Smart” website shared a guest written article about personalized learning in the classroom. Now, if you’ve heard of Mr. VanderArk, you know he is a master deceiver when it comes to a quality education. He’s absolutely, 100% sold out to the CCSS Machine’s reform. Part of the reoccurring message he (and others like him) shares is how fantastic ‘personalized’ learning is.

What these deceivers don’t count on is that we, the Warriors, are onto their delusions. “Personalized” learning in the “Era of ESSA” is code for ‘competency based education designed to NOT teach, but to CONFORM’.

“Personalized” learning is also code for digitally based data mining. “Personalized” learning is also being used to create false positive results when it comes to assessing how much our students are learning. Put another way, the digital based ‘personalization’ constantly grades on a steep curve.

In this context, the CCSS Machine banks on the fact that the general population HEARS ‘personalized’ as ‘custom’. It banks on the fact that when we hear ‘custom’, we PERCEIVE it as ‘exclusive’.

As a society, we are taught that ‘exclusive’ is special, is to be sought after. That somehow ‘exclusive’ means BETTER than everything else.

We are taught that by having something ‘exclusively’ means we have something NO ONE else can have.

Warriors, ‘personalized learning’ via ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) is a masterful delusion of epic proportions. ESSA also has a tremendous amount of Competency Based teaching/learning. ‘Personalizing’ it mocks true teaching/learning.

EVERY student will have the same type of education, there is NO true “personalization”! Only illusions.

As long as education is funneled through competency based Common Core/Career Tech Education/College and Career Readiness and all that goes with it, the delusions live on.

The Article:

“Getting Smart” featured  a letter to the President-elect/new administration written by a KnowledgeWorks staff member, Lillian Pace. Warriors, KnowledgeWorks is another 100% sold out to the CCSS Machine member organization. I’ve researched them in the past and have shared with you how deeply their allegiance to the education reform runs. This group is not after our students aligning, it is after our ENTIRE communities being aligned to conformity based education, life, and everything connecting the two. Below is a screen shot from one of my 2014 articles. This was the first one I wrote about KnowledgeWorks (KW).

14kw

A big selling point for ‘personalized’ learning is digital badging, or coding. To see how KnowledgeWorks has been involved in this:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2015/05/04/monday-musings-learning-for-whom/

So, What Did Ms. Pace Direct To Mr. Trump’s Attention?

The Deluded Sales Pitch Points:
a) leverage the vast amount of innovation occurring across the country to help States and school districts build an education system that provides all learners with access to a personalized education that enables them to master the knowledge and skills critical to success in college and career
How did KW propose the President-elect and his staff accomplish this?! MORE incentives! As if Race to the Top’s incentives didn’t teach our nation about how badly the carrots-on-a-stick delusion worked.

b) Post-secondary Transition Innovation Funds where the money would be “administered jointly by all Department offices with a stake in K–12 and post-secondary policy

c) Create a Pathway Program for employment. While WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) already ‘gave’ us ‘personalized learning for employment’ (Career Tech Education, Career Pathways, Career Tracks, Career Clusters, American Apprenticeships, etc.), this NEW  Pathway “would have the “federal government and the employer would equally share the cost of tuition; however, the federal government would reimburse the employer if it employs an individual for two years after obtaining a credential.”

d) Increase dual enrollment and early college high schools. Warriors, each of these are already ‘personalized’ to not only WIOA, but  to CCSS, CTE, and will increase via ESSA! We do not need MORE of what has already been passed into law. The same can be said for Points A, B, and C!

Closing:

If you’d like to see the slick CBE (Competency Based Education) ‘personalized’ learning sales pitch KnowledgeWorks has produced to help our nation see how valuable it is.Listen for the key educratic buzzwords, as well, Warriors. Especially ‘every child succeeds’.:

If you’d like to see how KnowledgeWorks is ready to help every school, every teacher, and every student transition to CBEhttp://www.knowledgeworks.org/schools/cbe

Is It “Yes” or Is It “No”?

Recently, my fellow Anti CCSS/ESSA/Fed Ed Warriors, I shared with you how BOTH Chambers of Congress have chosen to use our tax dollars to continue the illegally based education reform.

Included in the continued overreaches are funds for aligning entire communities to the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) mandates. There are other items as well which should be of concern. If you missed either one, but sure to use the bottom left arrow at the end of this article. It will send you back to the Senate article (“Setting Us Up”). Embedded in the Senate article, you’ll find the House’s article (“Sure Fire Disaster: Fed Ed”)

The remainder of today’s article is in response to a reader’s comment/question.

I had posted the House article on Sunday to the Facebook page “Moms Against Duncan”. In the article was the fact that Museum and Library Grants (M & L Grants) are tied to the CCSS Machine. I not only shared how the House is using FY (Fiscal Year) 2017 funds to keep this up, but I linked my previously published article with details on HOW M & L Grants are being used by the CCSS Machine (before, during, and after ESSA’s passage into law).

One reader responded with the fact her local area had a Millage Tax vote for their library and wondered if this tax is somehow connected to all the education alignment. She also shared that scare tactics were used before the vote took place. The rhetoric was pretty much vote ‘yes’ or libraries will be forced to shut down.

This reader sent me the link to all these events to see if I could dig out the truth.

The News Source:

Warriors, here is the link I was sent: http://yes4muskegonlibraries.org/
As best as I can tell, Muskegon is located in Michigan.
What’s a ‘millage’ tax? Basically, its a unit used to calculate how much your property is worth. This is usually done for personal property taxes. However, from a quick internet search, it seems many communities are using the millage rate tax calculations as a way to raise money for expanding libraries.

librarymill
If you’re like me, the “Despite Protests” article jumped out at you. I clicked on it and found that in SE Arkansas, a battle was brewing. Here’s an excerpt from the full article,
“Despite an existing state law that requires legislative bodies to place millage issues requested by library boards before voters, three members of the Pine Bluff City Council voted Friday to ignore that law, shooting down a request by the Jefferson County Library Board to place a millage increase initiative on the November General Election ballot.” To see the entire article for yourselves:
http://www.pbcommercial.com/news/20160826/despite-protests-library-tax-will-be-on-november-ballot

Wow, this raises a question to consider. Are our local communities doing this?
I wonder if Muskegon did. Let’s see what else we can find.

According to the Muskegon Library article, the millage tax proposal didn’t pass. However, this sent the town leaders on a goose chase for how to FUND the library.

Going To Follow The Money?

The library article also mentioned the Muskegon Area District Library asking its patrons to vote (August 2016), as the current millage expires 12/16. Eighty percent of the Library’s funding comes from the millage tax. The District Library even hired an outside firm to conduct a survey.

Mitchell Research and Communications. The head of Mitchell is also a board member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. (Hhmm…a big CCSS Machine warning bell there. Remember, Gates Foundation gave the U.S. Chamber of Commerce millions so they could pass on the money to the State Chambers. The express goal? Alignment to Common Core, Career Tech Ed)

Below is a screen shot you may find interesting about Mitchell Research’s OTHER education related activities:

mitchellresearch

To learn more about Mitchell Researchhttp://mitchellresearch.net/

Back to the Muskegon District Library’s website. Would I find any CCSS Machine clues there? Would I be able to find out more about the millage tax and/or the Museum and Library Grants?

To access the District Library’s website: http://www.madl.org/
In their 2015-16 Budget I didn’t find any M & L Grants, but I did find that between the local taxes and the State Grants (including those for special needs), this District has quite an income. To see their budget: http://www.madl.org/images/pdfs/BUDGET2015.2016merged.pdf

While that may seem like a dead end, we need to see what money the State received in the way of grants to determine if an M & L Grant was awarded. Remember, where you find the M & L grants, you find the CCSS Machine and its agenda. Part of the agenda in ESSA is community alignment in the name of ‘student success’.

The other part? Communities will be held accountable for their part in your child’s education. Another CCSS Machine ‘benefit’ of the M & L grants? It ties to WIOA, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. How? Those seeking jobs who don’t have access at a home computer will likely use the local library’s. Add that to the fact the library is a public place, job training sessions will also be held there. This all ties into the technology infrastructure and data mining, too.

Before we leave Muskegon District Library, get a look at their agenda (aka ‘strategy’):

muskegonagenda

MI State Grants for Museums and Libraries:

Over the past 5 years: $21,824,354.00 awarded to MI from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. (see: https://www.imls.gov/grants/grants-state/state-profiles/michigan)

The grants support upgrading/maintaining technology. They are based on population (guess where that information comes from? The U.S. Census) These grants do a whole lot more, too. If you refer back to my articles “Hitting the Books” and the “Hitting the Books, Part 2”, you can find out TONS of truth you won’t find elsewhere when it comes to the CCSS Machine and our communities.

According the 2011-2015 Michigan 5 Year Evaluation for being eligible to receive M & L Grants, it appears the Governor eliminated governance over the State’s Library and that power now rests with the Dept. of Education.  See this excerpt, “During the plan period the Library of Michigan experienced tremendous change in both funding and its location within the Michigan state government. The agency experienced cuts of up to 20% in its annual budget as well as substantial decrease in staffing levels. Since 2000 the Library staffing levels have decreased from approximately 75 positions to a current 33 positions, not all of which are currently filled. In addition to these internal issues the organization as a whole was declared to no longer be an independent state agency and was moved under the Department of History, Arts and Libraries, HAL. In 2010 the Governor eliminated HAL and moved the Library of Michigan once again. Currently, the state library is under the authority of the Department of Education as a departmental unit.

This Evaluation also revealed a sub-grant called “Modeling the Future”. The sub-grant information below is a bit dated, but the agenda isn’t. Innovation is a huge, top-down mission for education.

misub

Warriors, I do believe I’ve found the answer as to WHY Muskegon’s District Library was pushing so hard for the millage rate. IF States can’t match the fed led grants, they cannot qualify! Those libraries are hardly in danger, but by using the scare tactic, I can see how it was successful!!

To see where I got this from:
https://www.michigan.gov/documents/hal/lm_LSTAfactsheet08_287053_7.pdf

Closing:

Warriors, while the reader was concerned about MI, know that the M & L Grants are nation-wide as well as applicable to all US Territories.

Once again, I thank each of you who trust me enough to find the evidence you seek. By doing so, we are helping others to know where to look in their local areas for how the CCSS Machine is grinding them down.

Testify Now.

No! No! No! A thousand times, no to fed led ed!

The purpose of this post is to ask you to testify this week to the newly created White House Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking (CEP)– either onlineorin person— against CEP’s idea of studying to remove protective barriers on unit-level data for federal access and policymaking.

Here’s why.

adobe-spark-40

Apparently chafing against constitutional and tech barriers against unrestrained access to student-level data, the federal government, this year, invited 15 people to help remove those barriers.

It’s a motley crew: a British behavioral scientist, an American data crime lawyer, a White House Medicaid bureaucrat, and piles of professors who formerly worked for the feds.

They named the group The Commission on Evidence-Based Policymaking (CEP) and passed a law (led by Dem. Senator Murray, Speaker Ryan and President Obama) that gives the semblance of authority to the commission and allows them to post on the White House website.

Warriors Against the Core!!

First, I will apologize for the non-successful LiveStream Presentation I conducted about an hour ago. When I did the sound/visual check, all appeared to be working just fine. Not to be stopped, here, in written form is what I shared:

1) Two U.S. Congressional Hearings are set for 9/21/16. The first is the US Senate HELP Committee’s at 9:30 am, EDT; the House’s Ed/Workforce Committee Hearing is set for 10 am, EDT.

2) Both need all the anti CCSS Warrior coverage possible! We need dedicated ‘ears’ in attendance. Why? As we’ve seen with the hearings around ESSA, they tend to be ‘dog and pony’ shows. The results are subjective and NOT objective. Therefore, the agenda grinds on instead of true Constitutionally conducted legislation.

3) I would love to be able to have Warriors attend either the Senate’s discussion or the House’s.

4) By listening and sharing what we hear, we can not only have evidence, but TRUTH! Truth is ‘ammunition’ to defeat the CCSS Machine.

5) If you wish to head up the Warriors for either hearing, please text me: 704-517-3481, or post a comment below this article. If you want to be one of the sets of listening ears, text or post; if you know you can assemble a large or small group to be listening in, text or comment. You can also reach me on the Common Core Diva Facebook page, my @commoncorediva Twitter, or use the U.S. Parent Call to Action Facebook page.
Unfortunately, we have hours, not days to assemble Warriors. We must act quickly. If we want the TRUTH to be as effective as possible, we MUST beat Congress at their media game! Once we have our teams, we can Skype, Twitter, or whatever we need to do to use a united Warrior front to ‘charge’ D.C.

6) If you listen to the Senate HELP’s meeting:
a) Pay close attention to Sen. Alexander’s words. He’s the ringleader for ESSA, champions CTE (Career Tech Education), and is set to head up the re-authorization of the HEA (Higher Education Act). ESSA embeds CTE via the WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) and the HEA.
b) The announcement for the Hearing didn’t specify WHICH Senate CTE Bill, but there are currently 3 horrible ones:
i) S3271, the ‘sister’ to HR5587 (passed in the House last week, 405-5). S3271 will ramp up the data tracking and mining. It will increased P3s in education (public private partnerships). It will tie to Title 1 funding and the School Lunch Act. It will increase the amount of State accountability measures mandated to receive funding. Those are just a few of the CCSS Machine daggers.
ii) S3190, the CTE Health Workforce related act. It will use funds from Social Security and Medicare. It will tie to the Obamacare. It will increase career tracking and amend the National Health Care Workforce Commission. It will INCREASE federal funding; use ROI (return on investment) to measure students. Those are just a few of the CCSS Machine daggers.
iii) S3174, LADDER Act. This is the MOST dangerous of all. It has the fiscal funds already set aside for 2017-2026. It will create a new Executive Branch Workforce Council. Their main job is to create a National Workforce Plan culled from all the ‘successes’ of the States. It will target those who cannot keep jobs, change jobs often, are discouraged, cannot find a suitable job, and ’employment barred’. The U.S. Dept. of Labor decides who qualifies as ‘discouraged’. There’s much more to this Bill.

7) IF you choose to listen the House’s Ed/Workforce Hearing:
a) This is a Hearing for ‘regulatory fiat’ (meaning whatever it takes to get these regulations in motion) on ESSA.
b) The main target is Title 3 funding (used for post-secondary education institutions) on the LEAs/SEAs level.
c) The announcement for this hearing stated that ‘Supplanting federal funds’ is among the regulatory fiat.
d) We’ve been told repeatedly that ESSA was to END the supplanting of federal funding in education. ESSA was to change it to ‘supplementing’. Warriors, Warning: educratic doublespeak in use!
e) NO matter which it is, ‘supplanting’ (aka: incentives) or ‘supplementing’, it’s illegal!
f) Here are the ESSA Final Conference Report references to federal supplanting/supplementing:
i) page 157, (Section 1008) begins. See page 160’s “School Wide Activities”.
ii) page 193 (Section 1012) begins. On page 194 look at the LEAs/SEAs language. Two words, “shall” (as in telling them what to do), and ‘compliance’.
iii) page 291, (Section 1601) begins. Page 292’s ‘standards and assessments’ to be supplanted/supplemented.
iv) page 351, (Section 2212) begins. This is the Teacher Incentive Funds Grant. See on page 359 how States must report information to the U.S. Sec. of Ed, who in turn, reports this to the U.S. Congress.
v) page 407, (Section 2301) begins. This is for ELLs. Skip to page 430, to see what is to be federally funded one way or the other.
vi) page 488, (Section 4110). This is the Activities to Support Technology. Look at the wording. (*Note: this is a tiny section considering how much technology is embedded in ESSA.) Warrior Warning: a tip of the iceberg for the CCSS Machine!
vii) page 498, (Section 4203) begins. Skim the pages up to 500 and look at what the States must do in their ‘applications’ for funds to ‘assure’ the feds!
viii) page 506, under the “Expanded Learning”, funds aren’t supplemented/supplanted here, but SCHOOL hours are! The funding is on page 508.
ix) page 561, per pupil funds for charters
x) page 626, (Section 4642) begins. “Assist the Arts”. Page 627 shows you the supplant/supplement.
xi) page 704, Tribal students
xii) page 809, Education Fiscal Support Teams
xiii) page 940, Title I, part A funds, especially for low-income and civil rights
xiv) page 964, Early education (those entering Kindergarten), especially low-income and disadvantaged

If you need more background:
https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/09/18/selective-hearing/

Please, help me/help you, by getting the word out. Finding dedicated Warriors who can gather this information so we can all share. Thank you! I look forward to charging D.C. on after these Hearings!

rttt 2

Like a recurring nightmare, Race to the Top 2.0 is here.

Race to the Top #1 is an ugly story from 2009 that some of you might  not know.  I’ll make it easy. Picture the Federal Department of Money riding in a buggy, driven by the Secretary of Education.  There are 52 horses pulling his load, and 52 sticks with 52 carrots dangling in front of each horse.  Carved into each carrot is the word “Race to the Top”.  That phrase made the horses feel noble about chasing the carrot, because who doesn’t want to improve education?  But it was never, ever about improving education.  It was about implementing a labeling system for individuals, lifelong (with State-federal-corporate data tags) and it was about  controlling education from the top.

Race to the Top 1.0 dangled huge money lures in front of state education departments.  If the state boards of education…

CCSS Machine’s Dangerous 3

Warriors Against the Core and Fed Ed, just yesterday you learned about those posing as helpful resources, but are really part of the CCSS Machine (Common Core State Standards). Their agenda boils down to a ‘Dangerous 3 Points: Data, Alignment, and Profit’. In today’s ‘From the Files’, we will look more posers, Pearson Publishing and the Foundation for Excellence in Education  are among them. Why  bother? As in yesterday’s article, since we are now officially in the era of the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act), we MUST remain  pro-active against those Dangerous 3 Points!

So, What is Being Pushed Now?

‘Shifting to digital education’, is one of their latest efforts. This is a ‘no brainer’ in the modern education reform. Why? It packs all 3 of the Dangerous Points in 1 punch.
There is even a dedicated Twitter handle for the movement, #ShiftToDigitalEd.

Let me clarify, the CCSS Machine member, Getting Smart website (all about education and technology) is where I learned about this. Pearson Publishing is sponsoring a five part blog series devoted to digital learning. Who is writing the blog? None other than CBE (Competency Based Education) guru, Tom Vander Ark. A huge CCSS Machine ‘poser’!
Here is an excerpt, “This blog is part one in a four part series–sponsored by Pearson Education–focused around the key indicators of success in a digital learning program. Throughout the series we will give details about the five “look fors” in online and blended environments.”

So HOW will VanderArk, Pearson, and other Digital Companies pull all this off?
1) Shared Vision for each student. “A graduate profile and a picture of learning.”
2) Involve the entire community. “Community conversations should consider how the world is changing, how jobs are changing, and how civic participation is changing. What’s really important for graduate success?” Houston (TX) ISD is given as one of the best examples of #1 and 2. See the write up: http://gettingsmart.com/2016/02/how-houston-schools-are-making-it-a-great-global-city/
3) Use the right systems, ask the right questions. See the screen shot:
blendbend

To access the above guide where you can find out more about those Dangerous 3 Points lived out in real time across America: BLIG-3.0-FINAL Be sure to look for how, repeatedly, the Dangerous 3 Points are laid out. Infrastructure (meaning your phone lines and digital bandwidth); legislation to back improvements up (will line the pockets of those in charge); seeking funding to pay for the alignment to digital (means more student measuring, aka assessing), and so much more. Also, note all the other CCSS Machine member organizations and posers involved.
To read the rest of the entire blog post by VanderArk (where the above excerpts are from):

Below is the screen shot from the poser CCSS (now ESSA) Machine member, NGLC (Next Generation Learning Challenges) created for the best kind of students: digitally hooked, globally minded, and competently educated. (Can you immediately spot those Dangerous 3 Points in each of the NGCL’s model?)

So, Jeb Bush’s Foundation is in This Too?

Of course! Somehow I knew after he dropped out of the 2016 Presidential Race, we were not through with his meddling in education. We know, by research and a sold out media, just HOW connected to the CCSS Machine, the Foundation for Excellence in Education is!
In my opinion, the ESSA, has given the Foundation a new spark.

The latest (which also pack a 3-in-1-punch for America)? “Why Proficiency Matters”
There is also a dedicated website for this. But, be warned, you will be asked to share your location where you access it. (You do have an option to block your location, too.) Website:
http://whyproficiencymatters.com/
whymatters

According to the information from the website, there are 5 reasons (which handily fit the 3-in-1 punch) we should have proficient students. They are a) education, b) preparedness, c) college, d) skills, and e) employment. The Foundation has combined reports to give you all these alarming figures. For example, 23% of students who take the Armed Forces exam (to join the military), fail. Manufacturers across America have 600,000 jobs and no skilled workers, and of course, the amount of money used in post-secondary education for remediation and lack of CCR (college/career readiness). You can find all the gloom and doom: http://whyproficiencymatters.com/about
(*Note: do you see the connection to higher education? Remember, the HEA (Higher Education Act) is coming up for re-authorization. The same CCSS Machine members who pushed the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) will most definitely be pushing this! A huge selling point for the re-authorization will be student debt!!)

If you are curious as to what solution the Foundation offers, it is this: states setting assessment goals to match the NAEP. By doing so, states also are aligning the assessments to ‘Readiness’ (as in CCR)! See below:

When you visit the Foundation for Excellence in Education’s above pages, be sure to click on the ‘Resources’ tab. There will not be much to see, but you need to see what IS there. http://cqrcengage.com/excelined/WhyProficiencyMatters

To see the Facts the Foundation is basing the ‘Proficiency Matters’ campaign on: Facts-Sources-2015.11.02 (*Note: there are quite a few other CCSS Machine members cited as sources here.)

Other ‘Dangerous 3 Points’ the Foundation is pushing? Education Savings Accounts, Education Policy courses for all, and so much more. See: http://www.excelined.org/

So there you have it, Warriors, MORE CCSS Machine members posing as helpful folks. Only they forget to add they are pushing alignment, data/digital, and money making opportunities for themselves. What does our nation get? The shaft, the damage, and the demise of our people.
