Eager Beavers

Recently, an Anti Fed Ed Warrior from out West asked me for several resources concerning a CCSS Machine group which is ramping up alignment in her State. During our exchange, I was asked if I knew “AVID”, or had any research on the group. I did not, but I do now. 

Interestingly enough, another Warrior in another State out West, shared some news she had discovered about AVID, too. Her pointed out these objections: The cost is too much, agenda is woven throughout, and, the CCSS Machine makes a profit.

So Why A Beaver?

If you look at the AVID website, you’ll see how much hype is placed on being eager to get somewhere in life. Hence, the eager beaver. How anyone can be excited to a 3 inch thick binder filled with agenda, I don’t understand.

Looking Into AVID:

AVID’s approach in education sounds like a CCSS Machine dream: open classrooms, collaboration, closing opportunity gaps (aka: closing the skills gap), and turning teachers into classroom facilitators. ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has these exact mandates, Warriors!

Warriors, according to the MO school’s website, students are recruited for AVID. Here’s a video where you’ll hear current AVID students share what the coordinator is using to entice new students. You’ll hear “AVID Rocks…We Want YOU!”

From TX, Channelview ISD’s Avid Recruitment document lays out the year long schedule teachers are to use to add new students to the program as well as lay out what the students must do, once an AVID member.

From another TX school, this You Tube video (about 5 minutes) details more about AVID in real time. A couple of interesting notes, the teacher featured in the video is a TX Teacher of the Year as well as married to an AVID employee.

The other interesting thing? All AVID students MUST use the Cornell University Notes system.
Warriors, back in 2015, I showed you how the Gates Foundation, Cornell University, and many others were uniting to bring about Career Passports.

Think about this, my fellow Anti Fed Ed Warriors, ESSA streamlines the way kids learn and the way teachers teach to ONE way, so, in essence, taking notes in only ONE way makes sense. However, it totally overlooks the fact NOT everyone learns that way OR takes notes that way!
For example, if someone were to look through my notes (and I am a copious note taker), they’d see scribbles, drawings, words, lines, arrows, and circles. What I’ve seen from my children proves, a cookie cutter system would of been harmful!  One color coded everything in word form only; one drew or wrote in languages from Lord of the Rings, Klingon, etc.; my last child only wrote down key words, the rest of her information? She listened!

Warriors, time and time again, in looking at AVID material the readiness for college is evident. Do a quick search on note taking and you’ll see several colleges have resources of effective note taking that are NOT Cornell University derived.

AVID From The School Choice Viewpoint:

One Anti Fed Ed Warrior stance is ESSA gives school choice back to the States and parents. Reading ESSA proves this stance is incorrect. ESSA is clear that it will NOT matter which school location your child uses, ALL education will be the same. AVID plays right into this. Just look at the evidence!

Included in ‘school choice’ are the home educated. Will AVID impact those learners? What about private schools, so far the only evidence I have found has been from public schools. I have found a private Catholic high school in WI where AVID is used.

Notice, the website states this is the only high school (private) where AVID is fully implemented. Does this mean other private schools are beginning the AVID process?

AVID is also in post-secondary education which includes private education. As we know, those who homeschool usually see their kids go into post-secondary schools.

Closing:

Warriors, sure, we’d love to see kids eager about learning. Given a choice, though, I really believe we’d rather see ESSA thrown out, the CCSS Machine shut down, teachers able to do what they love, and parents assured the education system isn’t out to conform their kids into some former shadow of themselves.

Speaking Out

Anti Fed Ed Warriors, we know sometimes we JUST have to speak out. 
This weekend’s news is a quick recap of my most recent speaking out moments.

From March 31st’s Breaking News Journal Marathon:

Warriors, if you missed this CO based broadcast, the topic was all about how the current trend of school violence, student and teacher self-harm, and death are impacting us. There was also much discussion about why kids bully each other, as well as many thoughts on how to positively stop this kind of movement in our nation. If you wish to listen to the entire broadcast, it’s about 4 hours. If you are interested in my portion, you’ll find it near the 2:10:00 time stamp. It ends about the 2:45:30 time stamp.

Basically, I hold the federal government, the global push for CBE (Competency Based Education), and, the CCSS Machine at fault for the violence, self-harm, bullying, and, death. Sure, each of these things were present in our nation’s schools BEFORE Common Core (or whatever else your State has re-branded it since ESSA, Every Student Succeeds Act), BUT, Common Core and all the insane amounts of pressure to achieve a ‘perfect score’ has come at a price our families should never have had to pay.

I will point out that while I’d scheduled a live event on Facebook for the first presentation, the audio to my live feed was shut off. So, in a hurry, I grabbed the cell phone. Everyone Loves A Fair, Right?!

To All My Anti Fed Ed Warriors, out there, I ask you the question above..
Everyone loves to attend a fair, right? Well, not everyone, I suppose. There are plenty of folks who would rather stay home than ride the ferris wheel, eat cotton candy, and, see all the local exhibits.

However, Warriors, what about a different kind of fair? Say, an international one.

Is there such a thing? Would you attend? Who would organize it, what activities would be present? How does all this impact education reform in America?

Meet BIE, Your Fair Guide:

BIE (Bureau for International Expositions) would be the organization in charge of the fair, or, as they call it ‘exposition’.
(*Note: This BIE is not to be confused with the US BIE, Bureau of Indian Education within the U.S. Dept. of the Interior)

According to the BIE’s website, an ‘expo’ (aka ‘fair’ for our conversation) is,  “a global event that aims at educating the public, sharing innovation, promoting progress and fostering cooperation. It is organized by a host country that invites other countries, companies, international organisations, the private sector, the civil society and the general public to participate.”

Everyone from young kids to senior citizens and from every walk of life are invited to these events.

The four main goals of these types of events are:
a) collectivism (although it referred to as ‘cooperation’); b) education (carried out through entertainment); c) showing off the host country; and, d) growing your nation’s economy. (Warriors, pause and ask yourselves this, “Where have I seen or heard this type of agenda before?”)

A quick and simple answer is the UN’s SDGs (United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals). In fact, the BIE, has a document expressly for tying in the SDGs to the Expositions. Below is a screen shot of the 2017 document’s front page.

So, What About Education Reform?

Warriors, we know several Anti Fed Ed researchers and activists have tied Dubai to the CCSS Machine. So, it isn’t surprising to find a 2013 BIE Speech (concerning the upcoming 2020 Dubai World Expo)  where education was brought up 5 times.

Of those 5 times, only a couple are evidence of the global reform being carried out today, in 2018.

Warriors, just think this was back in 2013; while the US wasn’t part of the BIE. Now that the US is once again a member nation, how much of this has already been done here in America? How much of this type of alignment is currently being carried out?
(*Note, the first question I posed here is more rhetorical. We have tons of evidence as to the global education push established in the past.)

Another Fair:

Warriors, as far as other type of fair, this past July (2017), the celebration fair outside the G20 (Group of 20) featured many celebrities pushing for global citizens, global agendas, and, using education as one of the tools by which to pull this off. There was an important update to the “Knot” article I published in Sept. 2017. In it you’ll find the Global Citizen scorecard and tons more information. You’ll see how NY Sen. Schumer is a global sell-out, as is Stevie Wonder (entertainer).

Closing:

Warriors, these types of fairs, expos, and, celebrations will not stop. In fact, they may increase. How do we fight back? These are public domain meetings. Use that to your advantage!

We cannot win the War Vs the Core in the CCSS Machine’s territory, BUT, we CAN fight the Machine in OURS. If we ‘win’, super. If we don’t, the Machine will suffer greatly by the time we are through.

Our work as activists is FAR from over. So, let’s turn the tables. Instead of a ‘fair’ exhibiting hype, let’s exhibit truth.
Let’s have teachers and students give ‘fair’ speeches about how damaging the
globalization of their classrooms is.
Let’s have them display the CCSS curriculum and resources for all to see how unfair this education reform is for THEM.
Let’s trot out the data mining tools and show the unfair AND illegal data rape happening everyday in America for the ‘global good’.
Let’s expose the UN’s SDG takeovers in our cities and towns, too.

A Test Of Time

Warriors Against the Core, this article will be very short.

I’m  in the “Sic ‘Em” mood. I think many of us are. Today, I’m pretty much summing up our findings after all these years fighting the War Vs. the Core. 

It’s been said we need to wake up more parents to join us in protecting our kids. I’ll not be presumptuous enough to claim this (what you’ll see below) is “IT”, but it sure can help.

Regardless if you are a Christian or not, everyone is familiar with the Bible’s Ten Commandments. You know the list:
1) God said I brought you out of bondage so, have no other gods before me.
2) Don’t make graven images to worship.
3) No blasphemy.
4) Keep the Sabbath.
5) Honor your parents.
6) No murder.
7) No adultery.
8) No theft.
9) No lies.
10) Don’t covet.

Warriors, stay with me…let’s take these basic  commandments (which were actually guidelines to aim for) and apply them to the modern CCSS Machine education reform.

As you know, since I began writing and speaking out, I have referred to all the egregiousness as a ‘machine’. In my Warrior mindset, assigning all that is going on as a result of this modern education reform, is much easier to understand.

What you’ll see below is my take of what the unspoken Education Reform Commandments are. Was there ever anything similar written down? Who knows, but it’s what we’ve been living out from the past to today.

Speak up, speak out! Don’t simply rely on those who’ve been in this War Vs. the Core for a long time. Work shoulder to shoulder.

We see our federal/state legislation carrying out the Education Reform Commandments, daily. Look at how much of what is happening in these ‘commandments’ for money; not quality of life, but money.

This shift goes way beyond education and is attacking the entire  family. It’s a chain reaction. Negatively impact education, and an entire society goes to Hell.

It doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen. It’s up to us to throw a kink in the CCSS Machine.

The Fan’s Been Hit

Goodbye, September…Hello, October! Fellow anti CCSS Warriors; Warriors Against the Core; and Anti Fed Ed Warriors, you know life is changing for us all on a daily basis. You know we, as a nation are being impacted every day by the CCSS Machine in some way.

I’m a bit more angry at the continued overreach in education from all the levels it SHOULD NEVER be getting. I’ve also seen an increase (again) in being blocked, so some of my latest research isn’t getting out there quite as good as it once did. Still, I press on.

However…………………..

We’ve reached a point, in the War Against the Core, where the ‘poop’ is hitting the fan at almost breakneck speed!

At the beginning of the week, if you remember, I said we had 5 days of which to survive U.S. Congress’s moves concerning their part of the CCSS Machine’s overreach in education legislation. Mid-week, I said it didn’t appear much was happening on the Hill, but there was plenty going on elsewhere in D.C. (Dr. King and the U.S. Dept. of Ed)

All the while, the blocking of all that I’d researched and written grew. Then, last night, at least for me, the poop really hit the fan when I received an email from the U.S. House of Representative’s Education and Workforce Committee.

The email goes on to share all the other education/job reform projects. Then, the letter is ended with, “All of these reforms will provide Americans “A Better Way” to pursue successful, fulfilling lives and work toward a brighter future. And there’s more where these came from. September may be drawing to a close, but House Republicans know there is more work to be done.”

“Got Poop?”

From the articles above, you’ll be able to see how much poop is currently flying. However, during the course of this week, there was a ‘new’ bill Ed/Workforce trotted out, HR6094. The official name, “The Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools, and Nonprofits Act.”

HR6094 is to put a delay of 6 months on a rule made by the U.S. Dept. of Labor.
So, we know the U.S. Dept. of Labor is a big CCSS Machine organization. The rule has to do with overtime pay. See: http://edworkforce.house.gov/uploadedfiles/6month_02_xml.pdf

Okay, so now we are talking something to impact our national economy. We know, also, that national economy is a key platform FOR the CCSS Machine’s rhetoric for a stream-lined, workforce based education. Any time you see workforce, education, and the economy, you’ll see at least 4 alphabet soup CCSS Machine names. CTE, WIOA, ESSA, and HEA. (Career Tech Education/Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act/Every Student Succeeds Act/Higher Education Act).

Walberg from Michigan, is the main Representative behind HR6094. He released a statement about it earlier this year. See:

Oh, his stance on CTE which is the adult level for Common Core? He voted ‘Yes’ to the HR 5587 on 9/13/16. As you know I extensively researched HR5587 and exposed all the CCSS Machine ties. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/congress-loves-cte/

Walberg also voted ‘Yes’ to the ESSA back in Dec. 2015. His vote for WIOA back in 2014? Also a ‘Yes’. As far as the HEA, Walberg shared quite a bit of news he was so proud of: http://walberg.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=372550

Delaying the rule may be a good move, it may not. However, when you have a federal level committee churning out CTE bills faster than ever, you know it’s going to be bad by the time all the poop flushes down the toilet. Add to these facts, it appears Walberg is holding the tissue paper, we’d better see EXACTLY  what U.S. Labor Dept. rule needs a delay.

Why should we, the Anti CCSS Warriors give this a moment’s concern? Since ESSA expands Career Tech Education, P3s (public private partnerships), aligns to learn-to-earn initiatives, and more, We MUST pay attention! ESSA also builds on the mandate for more career exploration activities. The FLSA shows a detailed list of what is covered and what’s not when it comes to wages and related activities. Meet the Plungers:

When I saw the tweet earlier this week, about how ‘great’ this bill is, I knew in an instant, that something foul is in the making.

So, how do I know these groups are ‘plungers’? First off, I do not know if every single one of these groups is a CCSS Machine member.

However, looking at the above picture, I can easily spot several CCSS Machine members/groups. For example: the APLU (Association of Public Land Grant Universities) is up to their necks in education alignment to the CCSS Machine.

As far as groups like the NCPA, Heritage Action, etc. I do not know their stances on CCSS or any of the aforementioned related materials. HOWEVER, I would caution ANY group willing to work with these known CCSS Machine member groups.

Flush the poop, clean your hands of the CCSS Machine’s agenda, and get out of the bathroom. Helping align our nation in ANY way to the workforce based education, is a sewer-worthy move.

WDED?!

The ‘burning’ question: WDED? Or, “What Did Education Do?”    Too stupid much!

Think of it as this way, my, anti CCSS Warriors. What ‘our’ U.S. Dept. of Education is doing since ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) has become law makes as much sense as a sponge wearing pants.

Before I get to why I’m comparing a federal agency to a fictional character, let me back track a few days to my article about Dr. King’s road trip. Since taking over the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary role, Dr. King has stunned us almost daily with one agenda program or mandate after another. So when ‘his’ road trip (which, by the way WE are paying for with our tax dollars), hit the press,  I hit it even harder.

From my “King’s Bandwagon, It’s A-comin'”, here are his words, ” “I hope in the end it’s that folks see that they have a stake in the success of other people’s children. The reality is you can’t build walls high enough to keep the fate of your kids separate from the fate of the kid down the block, down the street, down the road, in the next community over – all our kids’ fates are bound up together. And the work that we’re doing on supplement not supplant, the work that we’re doing on socioeconomic diversity in schools and promoting efforts to increase school diversity, all of that is about saying we are one community and we are ultimately stronger together.” ”

Almost 40 years ago, President Carter uttered some pretty similar sentiments. The “Goobernator” as he was referred to as I was growing up in GA, obviously missed the days in class where the Constitution was taught.
Otherwise, he’d of known that NO federal investment in education is legal! Investing/return on investment in education is 100% illegal! It was then and it is now!

Oh, Alexander’s quite the poser. Look at how long he’s been spewing rhetoric about ‘investing in education’. Look how long he waxed on every time ESSA was on the Congress’ schedule. Think about how long he gloated about those helping pass ESSA. They were NOT all legislators. There were scads of private groups sold out to the CCSS Machine!
Look how long he droned on at Dr. King’s confirmation. Oh, sure, he bellowed, he beat his fists, he’s since spread poppy-cock about ESSA and how ‘upset’ he is over King’s behavior!

This coming from the man who stated back in the 80s about ‘cradle to grave’ education alignment?! Alexander/Patrick’s latest sideshow? Do what you want with ESSA!

What ESSA Really Says About All That ‘Guidance’:

Increased public private partnerships for not only students, but entire communities. Not only will your student succeed, he or she will succeed because everyone in town had a hand in it. The reality? Non educators will have more opportunities to teach. More ideology you may not wish to have your child exposed to at this time will be ‘in their faces’. These P3s will also be rewarded by the LEAs and SEAs for ‘performing’. Want your child to advance a grade? It won’t be up to the teacher anymore, but the LEAs and P3s.
Below is just one example of the kind of guidance education is getting. It’s not in the name of ‘quality academic education’ BUT Career Tech Ed (adult CCSS) for workforce!

More research conducted, especially by the U.S. Dept. of Ed’s special teams, in the name of understanding people. The reality? Constant measuring, assessing, and reporting. Our students AND their families will become lab rats. Entire communities will be graded, measured, and assessed as well. Not performing well? Funding for certain programs will be on the chopping block. ESSA will have the assessments reach (quite literally) into your homes.

Those ‘returns on investment’? That’s the CCSS Machine’s new way of referring to our sons and daughters. They’ve been reduced to financial commodities, including ‘human capital’.


What Works, but Really is Dependent:

The splendorous Ed Press Release also boasted of the NEW “What Works”. Oh joy, (sarcasm intended).
First off it’s in the IES (Institutes for Educational Sciences). IES is behind the lab rats programs and assessments, including that in-home assessment for how well your family is hooked up for the internet.
Then, there’s the REL (Regional Education Labs). More lab rats.
ESSA has ‘region specific education’ language for a purpose.
ESSA also has lots and lots of language for career and college readiness; post-secondary readiness. The CCR (college/career readiness) Centers have our nation broken into regions, too. Coincidence? Hardly.
Then, there’s NCEE (National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance). More assessing, and measuring. More alignment to a global agenda. More ‘region specifics’. So, Warriors, What SHOULD  ED do? How about become non existent?!

Parental Protest

Hello, my fellow Anti CCSS Warriors! Most of us know how toxic the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is. Some of us are aware of the currently-open-for-public-comments ESSA Proposed Regulations which are EVEN more toxic to State-led education. How? In a couple of words: power grab.

That’s right, a U.S. Dept. of Education power grab. Most importantly at the hands of the Secretary Dr. John King. However, I want to point out a few items:

1) While the regulations do give Dr. King more power, it is a purposed plan that has been in the works for years. Helping lead that plan is none other than Sen. Lamar Alexander. By now, you have probably seen his infamous late 80s speech where he laid out the whole ‘birth to grave’ education plan. So, know this: every time you hear Alexander bemoan how Dr. King is disregarding the way the ESSA was written, he’s not being honest. Alexander knows EXACTLY how and why the ESSA was written like it is..to give the illusion of State-led education. King’s Proposed Regulations are merely one of the means to an end.

2) Both Republicans AND Democrats in Congress are responsible for passing ESSA as it is written. Remember that at election time. While some are focusing on the Presidential race, we, as Warriors must keep in mind that OUR Congress members are up for elections, too. As are the Governors and other State leaders. As we Warriors know, many of these from D.C. to downtown are part of the CCSS Machine already.
Each of these levels of political power stands between us and a truly free (and Constitutionally honoring) state-led educational system free from the CCSS Machine.

3) The Proposed Regulations are NOT the way to have state-led-CCSS-Machine-free education. Quite the polar opposite. The Regulations AND ESSA in its entirety  give us MORE CCSS Machine led education from the federal level.

How do I know this? Reading the ESSA in its entirety as well as the Regulations. What follows is the fruit of what has been uncovered.

As you may (0r may not) know, I am among the members of Leadership Team of the national group known as US PIE (United States Parents Involved in Education). In the past, I have shared with you how we have worked together to bring attention to the ESSA’s passage, Dr. King’s nomination and confirmation, and now, those ESSA Proposed Regulations. Those of us in leadership, the advisory council, State Chapter Presidents, and parents have one main goal: the abolishing of the U.S. Dept. of Education, thereby ending the main source of federally led education.

That Special, ‘Fruit Bearing’ Project:

Over the past couple of months, you may remember me stating that I was working on a special project. Well, now I can reveal what a small working group of us involved in US PIE have been up to. We have undertaken reading all 192 pages of the ESSA Proposed Regulations. It has not been easy. It has taken many hours. We are not the first group to pour over the Regulations, however, we didn’t stop at the Regulations the U.S. Dept. of Ed wanted the most public input on, we meticulously looked at all the others. As Warriors, we know when any part of the CCSS Machine points us in one direction, they are up to all kinds of craftiness where we aren’t looking.
Here a few facts to get out of the way before I share with you our ‘tasty fruit’:
1) The Regulations are supposedly suggestions the U.S. Dept. of Ed  is making to carve out how ESSA will look in our backyards. (heavily influenced by the CCSS Machine)

2) The Regulations do not state who authored them, but in most footnotes you can see CCSS Machine member organizations as cited sources for certain portions.

3) If the ESSA is to be truly State-led, why did the federal U.S. Dept. of Ed make enough rules, regulations, and strings to create a 192 page document?

4) While some Regulations increase King’s power, there are some which rubber stamp ESSA’s original language (which is now the law).

5) The U.S. Dept. of Ed asked the public to comment no later than Aug. 1, 2016. The 4 Regulations we, as the general public, are to focus on: 1) identifying consistent underperformers; 2) stopping the low turn out during assessment periods; 3) long-term ELL goals; and 4) Title One updates.

Warriors, what our team found is truly disgusting. We found items that as far as we know, no other group reporting on the Regulations have shared.
For example:
The Regulations include Dr. King’s creation of a new national educational research facility especially for gifted and talented learners. He will be in charge of selecting staff, organizing the facility, etc.
Another example:
The Regulations include where Dr. King is to define for the States what certain educational (or supporting education) programs are to look like, what resources they are to use, etc.

We have created a 4 page Talking Points document to help guide the Anti CCSS/ESSA Warriors to the other disgusting truths we uncovered. It is imperative we use the resource to help point to those we have contact with about what TRULY is in the works for American education. It is a helpful resource to use in making any public comments you feel you should make to the U.S. Dept. of Education by 8/1/16. The link to the Comment page is embedded in the Talking Points.

Affording CCSS Higher Ed Reform

For this Weekend News article, I want to help shine the light on the CCSS Machine in higher education..specifically in the name of college/post-secondary affordability. Who is involved? How does this connect to the CCSS Machine?

Above, you see a screen shot of the NC Senate Bill 873. Its short title is the ‘Access to Affordable College Ed Act’. Since you, my fellow  anti CCSS Warriors may NOT live in NC, what will your State have in the works for higher education reform where saving money is a selling point?

If you have heard any of my more recent interviews, you may recall I have shared that one of the ways in which we, the citizens of the USA, will be taken in by the CCSS Machine’s higher education grasp is through the affordable cost of post-secondary education. Look closely at the above screen shot and you will see the easily identifiable Common Core Machine ties. But trust me, there are MANY more not in black and white print.

However, before we get to a State level look, let’s review what the federal level of the CCSS Machine’s education overreach in the name of savings for post-secondary education.

The Feds in Post-Secondary Education:

In Feb. 2016, I shared with you the intent Dr. John King (U.S. Dept. of Ed’s Secretary) and the OPE (Office of Post-Secondary Education) in regards to CCSS/CTE/CCR (Common Core State Standards/Career Tech Education/College and Career Readiness). Here is a quote,
‘Once you are in the OPE website pages, you can find this declaration OPE works to strengthen the capacity of colleges and universities to promote reform, innovation and improvement in post-secondary education, promote and expand access to post-secondary education and increase college completion rates for America’s students, and broaden global competencies that drive the economic success and competitiveness of our Nation.” ‘

Also in Feb. 2016, I dug into the 2017 Fed Ed Budget Requests and found how college and other post-secondary education is to seem more affordable. Early College programs; where funding for HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and MSIs (Minority Serving Institutions) were to be impacted as well.

Right slam in the midst of all this is the connection to the SREB (Southern Regional Education Board). How? In the name of ‘research’! If you go back and look at the NC legislation in the works, see how SREB’s research is being relied upon as well as written into the Bill.

SREB, NC, and the Nation:

Past research has connected SREB to the CCSS Machine’s intent to use community colleges (post-secondary education) as a breeding grounds for CTE (Career Tech Education, the adult portion of CCSS) and more educational alignment to workforce based education. So, the burning question is, why is NC using a known CCSS Machine organization like SREB to create legislation? Take a look at this 2014 screen shot. I believe we can glean from it WHY NC relies on CCSS Machine backed research:

Others NOT included in the screen shot include Dr. June Atkinson (head of the NC Dept. of Public Instruction, as well as the President of the CCSSO, Council of Chief State School Officers, which own half the copyright to CC Standards!) and Dr. Scott Ralls, the (at that time) head of NC Community Colleges. Ralls has moved on to become President of a Community College in VA since this report.

Now, I know some of my NC anti CCSS Warriors may be shocked to see some of the names they see. My concern is how many of these people have we heard publicly state they were/are against CCSS, but are participating in embedding it in various ways into the State Laws? Do they KNOW the connections already and just turn a blind eye, or has the truth been kept from them?!

For those of you NOT in NC, look at your regional boards to see who is in state government AND serves on these types of boards!

The Clearinghouse Featured in the NC Legislation:

If you refer back to the top of the article and see the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, you may not know that this Center is ALSO a CCSS Machine member, but it is!! Furthermore, it is being used as MORE research and evidence to create legislation!

From the Clearinghouse’s ‘About Us’ portion of their website you can learn they have been data collecting/sharing since 1993, that they adhere to FERPA (remember it got overhauled to not be as protective as it once was?), and how they abide by the HEA (Higher Education Act). See:

So, How Does All of the Above Impact NC Legislation?

1) It further embeds the CCSS Machine, the federally led, privately funded education overreach into the State. Remember, since ALL the States are impacted by the U.S. Dept. of Education, WIOA, ESSA, and HEA, there is NO reason to think NC stands alone in this.

2) Another short answer is it is embedding education reform in the name of student debt reduction. Who will bear the brunt of the debt load? The taxpayers! Here in NC, a recent state-wide Bond was passed in the name of educational updates that will burden our taxpayers for at least 2 generations! (If you like, you can search my blog for the ‘NC Connect’ and learn how the CCSS Machine is involved.)

3) By overhauling how colleges, universities, and all other post-secondary educational institutions are to be held accountable and accredited, you will see a continued chipping away at local control and MORE federal overreach increase. (I have written about this issue as well and how the CCSS Machine is behind it. If you would like that research, let me know.)

4) In the body of the NC SB873 (Access to Affordable College Ed Act), you will see how by taking 4 year state-led colleges and turning them into community colleges it plays right into the hands of the SREB intent/CCSS Machine agenda to use community colleges as not so much educational facilities, but worker prep facilities.

A Couple of Loose Ends Worth Noting:

In the NC Legislative Bill screen shot, you may notice I underlined the name of David Kirp.
Who is he? ‘Senior Fellow in Residence, is the James D. Marver Professor of Public Policy at the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California at Berkeley.’

I found this excerpt about him on the Learning Policy Institute’s website (that is where the Sr. Fellowship comes in). The Learning Policy Institute is funded by some pretty big CCSS Machine members (Ford Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, etc.). The President and CEO of the Learning Policy Institute is none other than  Linda Darling-Hammond (a notoriously known CCSS Machine disciple)!

AIR was also underlined in the screenshot. American Institutes  of Research are also notoriously tied to the CCSS Machine. Many anti CCSS Warriors have shared the ties, the deceptive moves for data mining carried out in the name of ‘research’. One anti CCSS Warrior in particular has mountains of documented evidence on AIR. Her name is Deb Herbage (FL).  She has recently begun her own blog, DezignzbyDeb (it is on WordPress, like mine). Contact her for any thing AIR related.

Closing:

As twisted as the CCSS paved road is in each of our States, I trust you can see why legislation, either State created or federally, is being used to continue the vicious cycle of grinding down our nation education-wise.
Please, look into your State’s governing bodies.
NC residents: PLEASE contact the leaders and DEMAND accountability while you share the truth.
