Anti CCSS Warriors, just when you think we have heard it all..Are you ready for a new chapter from the CCSS Machine’s book of lies?! Today’s ‘From the Files Tuesday’ will reveal it all. This is an in-depth article. If you have only a short amount of time, be sure to scan it, then go back and re-read it in detail when you have more time. The information is HUGE in our War Against the Core!
TURN (Teacher Union Reform Network):
Thanks to a recent email from a dedicated anti CCSS/Fed Led Ed Warriors, Michelle E. and Flo E., I was pointed to this group which joins forces between the AFT (American Federation of Teachers ) and the NEA (National Educators Association). Both the AFT and the NEA are members of the CCSS Machine, and proud to be included. They joined forces with Sen. Lamar Alexander and helped push the ESSA through into its law status. Both groups are hardly friends of those of us opposed to the education reform which seeks to do much more harm than good. So why, as powerful as both groups are, would they need a united force called TURN? Who, or what other CCSS Machine members or groups back TURN, if any? Let’s see what Files we can find as evidence. Before we look exclusively at them, let’s see what else we can discover.
The Email’s Tips:
Here in the Warriors’ (Michelle and Flo) words are the big clues to the Files we will uncover, “Look what I found they are funded by Eli Broad and Gates, HOLY S%&T!!!! By 2001, (leader of TURN & AFT VP) Adam Urbanski (Rochester NY–the seed bed for education reform pilot testing grounds) and the TURNcoats were collecting cash from none other than Eli Broad, to the tune of $10,000,000, for their work to undercut teachers…By June of 2001, Rod Paige was signed on as a supporter, as was NEA President, Bob Chase, who viewed it all as very positive development…Fast forward to 2010, and we find the network continuing to be funded by corporate foundations that have public school teachers in their crosshairs. Coordination now is handled through another non-profit, Consortium for Educational Change, which is funneling Gates money to both AFT and NEA players who want to get in on the action. Enter, Paul Toner…
The Consortium for Educational Change (CEC), an Illinois-based network of teacher unions, school districts, and professional organizations that work to make school systems more collaborative, high-performing organizations, was awarded $2 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support the expansion of the Teacher Union Reform Network (TURN), a national network of American Federation of Teachers and National Education Association union locals.”
The Files from the Tips Above:
In no particular order, here is the evidence (files) to back up Michelle’s and Flo’s findings:
1) The 2013 CEC Gates Foundation Grant, http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database/Grants/2013/10/OPP1097353
2) Linking Eli Broad to TURN (and a few other reform minded groups we can look into (the Broad Superintendents Academy and Broad Residency programs),
2a) Broad Superintendents Academy and Residency (the screen shot has the website address, click the picture to enlarge it):
2b) To see the qualifications for becoming a Broad/CCSS Machine Superintendent,
2c) As part of the Broad Academy and Residency, they also involve the Education Pioneers (also funded by the Gates Foundation) To see the website for Education Pioneers,
http://www.educationpioneers.org/ (*Note: Be sure to look at the cities EP is embedded in and then contrast it with this article from EdSurge detailing the best cities to get an educational tutoring job in: https://www.edsurge.com/news/2016-05-01-best-cities-to-start-a-tutoring-or-education-consulting-business)
2d) To see the Gates Foundation Education 2011 Pioneers Grant:
To learn exactly who the Education Pioneers seek to become part of the CCSS Machine,
2e) Also involved with the Broad Superintendents Academy and Residency is the organization called Strategic Data Project (SDP) housed in Harvard University (*Note: as you know I have tied Harvard to the CCSS Machine several times before this article. Most noteworthy is their connection to Pearson Publishing as well.) To see the SDP website:
http://sdp.cepr.harvard.edu/ The Gates Foundation has also awarded the SDP mega bucks (2015) for the 3rd phrase of the Project, see: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/How-We-Work/Quick-Links/Grants-Database/Grants/2015/02/OPP1126061

3) The original source where Michelle and Flo got their information from (*Note: there are a few expletive words):
The People Mentioned:
We have just looked at Eli Broad and his connections, but what about the others mentioned in both Michelle’s email and the original source she cited? I am not giving information on Bill or Melinda Gates, as we have tons of evidence on them.
1) Adam Urbanski, his biography straight from the AFT,
(*Note: He is originally from Poland and this bio will tie him to both TURN and the CEC as well. He is a supporter of ‘collective bargaining’ in education.)
1a) Related to the AFT is the fact that they recently joined forces with UK Unions to hold Pearson Publishing accountable. See: http://www.aft.org/news/aft-and-uk-unions-join-hold-pearson-accountable (*Note: with what Michelle, Flo, and I have found, this is sure to be a false narrative. How or why? Keep reading..you should the reason why we believe this to unfold right before your eyes.)
2) Rod Paige, the former U.S. Dept. of Education Secretary (2001-2005) is now involved with the Thomas Fordham Institute (another CCSS Machine member). See: http://edexcellence.net/about-us/fordham-staff/rod-paige
(*Note: his biography shares his is a lifelong educator and a big supporter of the ‘best of breed solutions’ in education from a national standpoint.)
3) Bob Chase, former NEA President was interviewed by Thought and Action back in the late 1990s. It was featured in the NEA’s publication. Here is the document, you need to read his words about connecting preK to grad schools and other reform ideas we are seeing lived out. ChaseInterview
4) Paul Toner, former President of the MA Teachers Association, Toner is now involved with the New Voice Strategies, according to the Business Wire website. According to their article, Toner is well known as a bridge builder in education and polarizes education policy.
See: http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20141001006416/en/Paul-Toner-Announced-President-Voice-Strategies (*Note: New Voice Strategies has an on-going relationship with the NEA. The Gates Foundation awarded the New Voice Strategies a grant back in 2013. The Grant link:

CEC, Consortium for Educational Change:

To see what policies guide the Consortium, http://cecillinois.org/about/guiding-documents/
This excerpt reveals Consortium member groups (which work with the U.S. Dept of Education), “Since 2011, 7 national organizations (AASA, AFT, CCSSO, CGCS, FMCS, NEA, NSBA) along with the U.S. Department of Education have been working together to support labor-management collaboration in states and school districts throughout the country to advance student learning. Based on the belief that supporting good governance of public education in our nation’s school districts is a mutual responsibility, these organizations have jointly planned several conferences, and collaborated on creation of a document titled “On the Same Page.” “
To decipher those Consortium member groups above, AASA is the American Association of School Administrators (aka the School Superintendents Association); AFT is the American Federation of Teachers; CCSSO is the Council of Chief State School Officers; CGCS is the Council of Great City Schools; FMCS is Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service; NEA is the National Educators Association; NSBA is the National School Boards Association. Of these member groups, I have researched all but the FMCS. How does this Service connect to the CCSS Machine? Labor Management. What does Labor Management have to do with education? 1) Consider the Consortium is all about changing education; 2) consider a big part of the CCSS Machine is a workforce based education, not an academically based education; 3) lastly that On the Same Page document..it’s full title? See the screen shot below:
To have access to the Same Page (60 pages of you MUST read this to connect even MORE dots): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9-XI_wmbQ0RY3NlcVJKLTVmXzg/view (*Note: the plans already in progress revealed in this document are staggering.) By now, you have been a TON of resources and evidence. It has been quite the twisting turning mess we have come to expect from the CCSS Machine. We started with TURN, and we are ending with them. Below is their 5 minute sales pitch as to why TURNing education is so vital to our nation. What they left out was, the TRUTH: TURNing education to resemble a quasi-education is the Agenda of the CCSS Machine!
