FOM: Post Secondary Ed: The CCSS Trojan

As the push for the re-authorization of the HEA heats up, more evidence has surfaced showing how post-secondary education is an ideal set-up for the CCSS Machine.
As the push for the re-authorization of the HEA heats up, more evidence has surfaced showing how post-secondary education is an ideal set-up for the CCSS Machine.

Over the past months, we anti CCSS warriors, have learned so much in fighting Common Core. We’ve learned that Common Core has a wide array of names it can be linked to (or often times, be used in place of “Common Core”). Today’s special “Fib-o-Meter” will be devoted to the the groups/efforts and evidence concerning the often overlooked avenue of post secondary education being aligned with Common Core or it’s adult version: Career and Technical Education.

It's Friday, you know what that means! Time to measure what's truth, what's fallacy/fib or what's in between.

The Evidence:

From my archives, I have 5 pages of evidence, complete with association names, ties to Common Core and/or Career Tech Education, funding sources for some; videos, pdf files, and so much more.

If you’d like to search through the five pages for yourselves, here’s the link:

If you’d like them broken down by topic, I’ve got a couple of suggestions to use. Feel free to use your own key words.

GEDs, SATs, and other such assessments is a vital piece of evidence of “Total Truth” because these are used to gauge competencies either in place of a diploma or a way to be admitted to college. Both are used by community colleges as proof of the students academic achievements. One assessment you may not know (and it another “Total Truth” is the the CASAS, or Comprehensive Adult and Student Assessment Systems.  I wrote about this on 10/28/14. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/10/28/ftf-tuesday-align-and-mine-part-2/

Bringing the U.S. Dept. of Labor into the CCSS/CTE mix is another huge “Total Truth” component to the link between post secondary education and aligned education. A big conference where this is extremely evident was when Sec. Duncan and Mr. Perez spoke to a MA audience. The article featuring this was published on 10/16/14. “De facto curriculum? Yes, Mr. Duncan said it. See where and learn even more,

Another “Total Truth” you can use in your state can be found by learning about the state I live in. Originally published 10/09.14 shows not only how every single community college in NC is CCSS/CTE aligned, but how you can find it in your state’s post secondary arena. Here’s a key excerpt, “From one of the hosts speaking at this meeting, it was shared that all 58 of NC’s Community Colleges are in tune with the businesses in our state. The “master plan”? Kindergarten-12th grades, as well as community colleges (those 4 yr colleges will be added soon, or so it is hoped) to have classroom lessons in tune with the jobs in manufacturing , finances, logistics and healthcare.”

How the HEA re-authorization is bad news for America:

Lastly:

The original article I published revealing how CTE (Career and Technical Education) is more Common Core. This is from September 25, 2014. See: https://commoncorediva.wordpress.com/2014/09/25/tech-thursday-cte-career-technical-education-workforce/
